i made a simple render of an ocean in blender rendered in cycles (it was based on ducky 3ds tutorial but with different engines and volumetrics and stuff)
the render looks quite noisy and looks like painted in oil rather than refecting water
im still a beginner in blender
what changes should i make to make it look right?

the painty look is the denoising

#

if you dont have enough to work with it can't get a nice clean look

#

how many samples did you render at?

i had put a time limit of 7 sec per frame

Side note it looks like you have easing on your keyframes making the water speed up and slow down

Which denoiser are you using?

500 samples WITHOUT a time limit. Limiting the time per frame, will make your frames have less samples. At 7 seconds per frame, i doubt you'd get past maybe 4 samples.
