they are working on something while keeping the game going. its been 200 plus ping in texas for the last week. thats when they sent out a message telling you they will be working on the system i think. If your game is complete crashing with a warning or pop up window that isnt usual but if its throwing you back into the main screen thats been the norm for me since december.

16k being 4 times 8k means you run out of VRAM

Yes. I love the current ways developers delve themselves into, where they specifically use low resolution effects and upscale them with TSSAA so you don't notice and they save resources

It's an issue if you usually play games at 4k native and want to turn AA completely off

because many effects being dependent on TAA, will look jagged without AA

No, but I hate how TAA gave birth to these so called upscaling techniques that are now used as excuses to not optimize LODs anymore

I remember when you actually had to worry about quad overdraw

Now, you just use Nanite or Mesh Shaders to fix overdraw

Back in my day, you had to merge multiple LODs into one

I mean, 50 fps during the beginning of the game on an RTX 5090 at 4k native and then drops to 20 fps by the end of the game

so you're forced to use DLSS with frame gen or suck it up

The thing is, there's no need for manufacturers to develop better GPUs when people will buy any piece of trash

the 50 series has been out of stock everywhere and there are 5% gains on average from the previous generation

The PCBs on modern GPUs are so bad too

it's a miracle the VRMs are still alive on the 5090s

Technically, you can add anything of your own into Unreal and modify the Engine however you want as long as you can implement that tech in C++ language

The thing with Unreal is that Epic Games have no real background in making photorealistic games

they add to Unreal whatever works in Fortnite, but you're not making Fortnite, so why use the tech they add?
