This is an idea I've had in my head for a while, mainly regarding an AU of mine, but basically; what if the High Halls gauntlet had enemies from all across the Citadel? (Including The Slab, because why not.)
It'd be way longer, featuring every enemy you can encounter within the Citadel's walls, likely divided into groups of waves focused on each area.
Of course, Clawmaidens would be ever-present, if you didn't deal with their nest.
I'm not sure in what order the wave groups would be presented in, but the general idea for each group would be...

High Halls (starting waves)
Choristor, Reed, Envoy, Choir Bellbearer, Minister, Maestro, Choir Clapper

Choral Chambers
Choir Pouncer, Choir Hornhead, Choir Flyer, Choir Elder, Choir Bellbearer, Choristor, Envoy, Reed, Grand Reed

Whispering Vaults
Choir Flyer, Choir Hornhead, Choir Elder, Choir Pouncer, Vaultkeeper, Scrollreader, Lampbearer, Vaultborn

Cogwork Core
Cogworker, Cogwork Crawler (?), Cogwork Spine (?), Cogwork Choirbug, Cogwork Cleanser, Cogwork Defender, Cogwork Clapper

Underworks
Underworker, Underscrap, Undersweep, Underpoke, Underloft, Undercrank, Cogwork Underfly (?), Cogwork Hauler

Whiteward
Dreg Husk, Dregwheel, Surgeon, Mortician, probably some others

Memorium

an idea i had that'd require more work would be having a twisted, single Cogwork Dancer between Choral Chambers and Cogwork Core? forcibly put back together and tasked with your destruction. it is alone, and any beauty once held in this cogwork husk has been lost. it is a disgrace to and mockery of life itself.

ALSO!! with all the extra enemies, I figured maybe the player could get backup from both Shakra AND Garmond+Zaza? perhaps Second Sentinel, too. maybe even Green Prince, though that's more work, since he doesn't have an NPC moveset, and his battle moveset wouldn't work as an NPC moveset, I feel.

basically the bare minimum would be

  • greatly extended HHG
  • Shakra and Garmond+Zaza can be called in for help (their arrivals would be staggered)
    then any additional things (if someone wants to) would be
  • Cogwork Husk (working name subject to change if someone has a more visceral name) mid-gauntlet boss
  • Second Sentinel as an ally
  • Green Prince as an ally

i think each segment of the gauntlet would have ~10 waves? so thats um

as for the order they arrive in...

I feel like Second Sentinel would make sense first with how close they are to the Forum fight

Garmond being next makes sense because he is also relatively close but would probably take longer to arrive

But would Green Prince be inaccessible after talking to him in Cogwork Core (when he leaves the Citadel)?

obviously his previous encounters.
clearing the breakable wall at memorium entrance (to clear the way for him to get there)

then rest at any bench not in memorium

and he'll move to the top of the verdania room

the real difficulty would be the NPC allies

getting Shakra & Garmond to be able to assist you both at once, adding Second Sentinel to that lineup

the ability to do the following

#
  • edit and massively extend an existing gauntlet (bare minimum)
  • edit flags and positions for npcs that are already in-game (so i can have shakra & garmond+zaza both available)
  • how the fuck would i edit the gauntlet to stagger npc arrivals
  • also i need to make a list of the priority of different npcs so their arrivals can be staggered
  • the ability to add second sentinel as an npc outside the room and to have it join the arena fight

then the following would be harder i think

  • edit green prince's questline to inject an interaction in memorium between the cogwork dancers arena and his final location in act 3
  • add him as an npc outside The Forum and have him be capable of joining the fight
  • make an npc battler of the green prince (a-la the other three) and have him fight as part of the gauntlet
  • add a custom miniboss to the gauntlet, based on a cogwork dancer, but with custom sprites

still has the occasional moment where it tries to join with its lover in the middle... but there is no lover, and it soon corrects itself to target you.

i imagine its eyes flickering whenever it moves, but being off by default. they turn on fully when it moves to meet its lover... for but a moment.

in general, it's characterised much differently

whereas the cogwork dancers were plastic beauty, stolen culture from a now lost land scrubbed clean of anything the citadel would consider undesirable or unwanted

this thing is the facade pulled back to reveal the truth.

it's less accurate to the dancers, but more accurate to the true nature of its creation... even if it was crafted by one of the dancers himself

this thing could be the final boss of the gauntlet tbh

and i'd want it to have a special interaction with green prince, too

all your other allies back out of the fight when this thing comes out

yeah. i imagine, like t.lord and cloth, the fight has a scripted ending if you have green prince with you.
...green prince doesnt die, of course, but. yeah
