#Using Steam, Game Refuses to load from Scarab or Steam [Desktop]

You must be on the correct patch!
🔹 For Scarab, you must change "Betas" to "None"
🔹 1432 Modding (and ModInstaller) is no longer supported.
🔹 1221 Modding does not use an installer; type "?tag 1221" for info on it.
How to check your Beta option:

oh
You're also probably going to want to add -force-opengl to the launch options of the game in steam
Alr so I did just that, and changed the beta to none. when running from Scarab, the game only shows the running knight loading icon and then closes. running from steam just doesnt appear to be using mods
You need to use the "launch modded" once, but after that you can run from steam
Mods/Controller not working correctly on Steam Deck
Issue: Steam Deck installs the Windows version of HK, then runs it in proton. This would be fine except that you install Linux Scarab, which replaces the Assembly-Csharp with the Linux version, and then it doesn't like to work correctly on "Windows" anymore
Solution: Go to the HK Library page, select Properties -> Compatibility, check "Force the use of a specific steam play compatibility tool", and select "Steam Linux Runtime" (Note: not the sniper or soldier versions)
This will reinstall the Linux version of the game, and move some files around, so you'll need to select "Change Paths" in Scarab and change it to the new install path, then reinstall your mods. After this, everything should be working.
You might want to make sure it's not running proton
well theres nothing the window for "force the use of a specific compatability tool"
also a video of whats happening:

Try removing the OpenGL parameter
that didnt do much.
When I said this, I was referring to the entire entry. It looks like you literally only removed opengl, but not the rest of the line
i readded the -force- afteri will update the image
That being said, your actual problem still looks a lot like GPU issues, which is what adding the argument normally fixes.
Do you have opengl installed and up to date?
