Did you accidentally download the preview image for it, instead of the skin itself?

onyx zodiac
#

idk

#

I downloaded this skin from this fireborn site

#

all skins stay in this quality

balmy python
#

You don't need to ping me please

onyx zodiac
#

sorry

#

really

balmy python
#

I mean, I don't really understand why you deleted the message and then re-posted it just to ping me?

#

Did you already try using the "Fix my Skins" button in the Custom Knight menu?

onyx zodiac
#

I didn't want to ping you, I just wanted to reply to the message, it was by accident

balmy python

onyx zodiac

Use the "Global Settings" link

#

You can either run it for all Global Settings, or just for Custom Knight

#

(Make sure your game is closed before using it)

onyx zodiac
#

what does this do? will i have to do all the mod installation again?

#

the name is "reset global settings files", im scared

#

?

balmy python
#

It resets the settings files for mods

#

You can manually delete them if you want; they're with you save files

Important paths
Note: These assume you're using Steam, with default locations. For GoG, locate your hollow_knight.exe folder, and then follow from there. The Save Files location is the same for all versions.

Windows:
Save Files: %APPDATA%\..\LocalLow\Team Cherry\Hollow Knight\
Game Files: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hollow Knight\
Mod Files: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hollow Knight\hollow_knight_Data\Managed\Mods\

Mac OS:
Save Files: ~/Library/Application Support/unity.Team Cherry.Hollow Knight/
Game Files: ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Hollow Knight/hollow_knight.app/
Mod Files: Right-click hollow_knight.app, and select "show contents", then navigate to: contents แ… resources แ… data แ… managed แ… mods
||Please double check that you followed correctly. The Unix versions of the game have multiple folders with the same/similar names, and it's easy to go to the wrong folder||

Linux:
Save Files: ~/.config/unity3d/Team Cherry/Hollow Knight/
Game Files: ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Hollow Knight/
Mod Files: ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Hollow Knight/hollow_knight_Data/Managed/Mods/

You want to double check your download of the skins then, and possibly re-extract the .zip files

#

It really looks like you somehow have compressed versions of them, instead of the normal ones

onyx zodiac
#

ok

#

I think it's all right

balmy python
#

Can you drag-and-drop the knight image file from the Grimm skin into this channel?

onyx zodiac
#

yes

#

Sorry for the late reply, I was sleepy and went to sleep.

#

can you still help me?

onyx zodiac
#

this is the winrar file the actual skin file is inside

When DwarfWoot says there's no need to ping him, it's because when you make a reply in one of these posts you get auto added as a follower.

#

Hence there's no need to explicitly reply or ping him, just posting a new message in this thread already does so automatically.

#

Also, you still haven't followed his instructions. He just wants to see the Knight.png image file you've extracted and put into the Custom Knight skin folder, not the entire skin zip.

#

If you've extracted it correctly, the Knight.png file by itself should be around 11 MB

onyx zodiac
#

I can't send the file itself, just the one I sent

#

i try

solemn heron
#

The fact Discord is complaining about invalid file type already suggests something isn't right. The extracted file should be a normal PNG file, which is supported by Discord.

#

I'll ask again, is the Knight.png file around 11 MB?

#

Have you also just tried re-extracting all the files from the skin zip file again and seeing if that fixes things?

balmy python
#

Go into the skin folder, and

  1. Select the Knight.png file
  2. Drag it into Discord
  3. When Discord shows in the message box, then send it.

brother I'm really sorry, I was grounded this whole time and I couldn't answer you

#

I know that all these times I was a real sucker

#

but can you help me yet?

#

I don't have the pc now but I will be later and I'll send you what you sent

#

my god it's been more than 6 days without answering you

balmy python
#

I don't mind.
When you can, send the image

?

balmy python
#

Well that looks fine too.
When you're next able to, can you

  • Open the game, and verify that in-game it's still not working
  • Go to a small room (like a Stag Station)
  • Go to Pause -> Options -> Mods -> Custom Knight
  • Press the "Fix My Skins" button.

If it's still blurry, then go and get your ModLog.txt file (and possibly the Player.log file), and post them here

#
ModLog

ModLog.txt can be found in the same folder as your save files:
Windows: %APPDATA%\..\LocalLow\Team Cherry\Hollow Knight\
MacOS: ~/Library/Application Support/unity.Team Cherry.Hollow Knight/
Linux: ~/.config/unity3d/Team Cherry/Hollow Knight/
......................................................

To easily get ModLog on Windows:

  • Press โŠž + R
  • Copy and paste this into it %appdata%\..\LocalLow\Team Cherry\Hollow Knight and hit "OK"
  • ModLog.txt is in this folder.

Note: โŠž is the Windows button, in between Ctrl and Alt on your keyboard

balmy python
#

(player.log is in the same folder)

onyx zodiac
#

its right?

balmy python
# onyx zodiac

You need to do the steps in order:
Go verify that the skin isn't working, and then go get the mod log.

#

The log you got didn't have the game running

onyx zodiac
#

ok

onyx zodiac
#

right?

balmy python
#

So, it looks like the issue is that you don't have enough VRAM on your computer to properly run the mod. (This comes from your Graphics processor).

You can try adding [[No Particles]] and [[AlreadyEnoughPlayMaker]] , to see if they free up enough resources for the skins to work, but if not then it looks like you just won't be able to properly use Custom Knight on your machine.

balmy python

You do have a gpu, otherwise you wouldn't see anything on your computer at all.

But your gpu appears to be integrated, as opposed to an external one
