Debug Save States

Can anyone tell me how save states work? I understand how to quick slot but is there a way to get multiple save states at a time?

if you press the "save state to file" keybind a list of 0-9 will appear, simply press which slot you want to save it to and to load it press the load state from file and press the respective number from the list
