I did everything fireborn said to do for custom knight to work, and it did at first. most skins on it worked, but some didnt. so I tried deleting the files of the unzipped skins that didnt work, then extracting them again, and now NO custom knight skin will work. how can I possibly fix this? ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling custom knight, but that didnt work either. im on windows and playing from steam

You got a modlog?
ModLog.txt can be found in the same folder as your save files:
Windows: %APPDATA%\..\LocalLow\Team Cherry\Hollow Knight\
MacOS: ~/Library/Application Support/unity.Team Cherry.Hollow Knight/
Linux: ~/.config/unity3d/Team Cherry/Hollow Knight/
......................................................
To easily get ModLog on Windows:
- Press
⊞+R - Copy and paste this into it
%appdata%\..\LocalLow\Team Cherry\Hollow Knightand hit "OK" ModLog.txtis in this folder.
Note: ⊞ is the Windows button, in between Ctrl and Alt on your keyboard
?modlog - DwarfWoot#0643
?tag ck faq

Common CK issues/fixes
- Verify that the skin was installed correctly.
- Restart your game.
- Ensure that you're enabling it from the Pause Menu, not the Main Menu.
- If it doesn't apply, then you may need to reset your Global Settings for it. You can either manually do this by deleting the
customknight.globalsettingsfiles from your saves directors (type?tag savesin chat if you don't know where that is), or by using an automatic script from?tag reset.
yes, what part should I send?
although every part in the modlog where it says customknight, it says [ERRROR] on the left
send the entire .txt
oh alright
just ctrl + c the file in file explorer and paste it in here
hey send a screenshot of your modlist in the main menu
like in the actual hollow knight game?
preferably
alright
all the loaded mods are close together on that screen, easier to see what you have
dont see any mods that I know of that conflict
based on your modlog, you should probably try redownloading all the skins you wanna use
says theres a lot of broken skins
double check that all the skins are properly installed once you do. i.e. have sprite sheets and stuff in the right spot
what does I.e. mean
folder path should look something like this
just means "for example"
hm?
ya know the demo skin thats auto installed?
What is that one called in the Skins folder?
Thats different to the Knight's skins
thats for stuff outside the Knight's normal sprites
i think the demo folder is more for skin-makers
first, double check the skin folders
if that doesn't work we will try deleting the global settings file for ck
np
if theres 1 broken skin, does that disable me to use any skin?
because otherwise like all 10 skins are somehow broken
dunno, but your error log has a lot of errors for broken skins
so then should I just delete and redownload all of my skins?
I think you should definitely try that
alright bet
I deleted everything, even unistalled and reinstalled custom knight, then reinstalled skins, and it still didnt work :(
next try deleting your customknight.globalsettings file in your saves folder

Important paths
Note: These assume you're using Steam, with default locations. For GoG, locate your hollow_knight.exe folder, and then follow from there. The Save Files location is the same for all versions.
Windows:
Save Files: %APPDATA%\..\LocalLow\Team Cherry\Hollow Knight\
Game Files: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hollow Knight\
Mod Files: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hollow Knight\hollow_knight_Data\Managed\Mods\
Mac OS:
Save Files: ~/Library/Application Support/unity.Team Cherry.Hollow Knight/
Game Files: ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Hollow Knight/hollow_knight.app/
Mod Files: Right-click hollow_knight.app, and select "show contents", then navigate to: contents ᐅ resources ᐅ data ᐅ managed ᐅ mods
||Please double check that you followed correctly. The Unix versions of the game have multiple folders with the same/similar names, and it's easy to go to the wrong folder||
Linux:
Save Files: ~/.config/unity3d/Team Cherry/Hollow Knight/
Game Files: ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Hollow Knight/
Mod Files: ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Hollow Knight/hollow_knight_Data/Managed/Mods/
Just delete the file that includes custom knight and global settings in its name
Then try the skins in-game and see what happens
and getting rid of global settings wont ruin anything else with hollow knight?
oh global settings is in custom knight
nevermind
A lot of mods have settings files to store their settings
so just these 2?
Yep
and then just open the game and try to jus select the skin?
Mhmm
bet thanks
If it doesn't work, grab the modlog and post it
If I can't look at it tonight I'll take a look tomorrow
alright, and thanks once more cause I would have no idea what ive been doing without your help
IT WORKED
OH MY FUCKING GOD IT WORKED
I LOVE YOU
YEESSSSSSSS
RAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH
IM EVEN HAPPIER THAN THIS DUMBASS LOOKIN DOG
glad to hear
Hey nice
