Where do I put modified sprites files ? | Hollow Knight Modding | Page 1

I want to change some sprites in game (being the 2 spiders particles effect and the health bar to easely check if it work). I got the game on Steam, I'm on Windows, I got the sprites files from a google drive and I don't know where do I need to place those changed files into the games files for it to work. Does anyone know where do i need to put those files ? (sorry for my bad english)

If the name of the modified file isn't the same as the normal one, does it make a huge difference ?

The file names are incredibly important for Custom Knight / Swapper.

It's just that the sprites files I got from the google drive doesn't have the same name as the ones from the game

And I have no idea what the normal files names are

You can look in the default to see the names for the most common things. In other cases you may have to look in the hashcache, or one of the threads here, or dump the sprites to get it

With the sprites, there was a readme text saying that the sprites were renamed

It also says:

The sprites that were renamed still have their old names after the hyphen. An example of that is: Ambloom - atlas0 #16905.png. “Ambloom” is what I added, “atlas0#16905” is the name of the sprite sheet in the files.

To reiterate:

if something isn't in the Default skin folder for Custom Knight, then you have to use the Swapper feature
For uncommon sprites, you'll need to get the Hash of what you want to swap, which is described in the "how to add Enemy/Boss skins" part of the message I'm replying to

Change no, remove - I recall hearing something about an arachnophobia mod in regards to the deepnest spiders. Don't know if it was finished or made public

Same thing would be true if it was something that could be done via another mod or via custom knight, theres never a guarantee it gets done properly the first time but it's 100% not getting done if you don't try
