Somehow Lee can continue and got no damage
How? I'll never know

Two years, two poles at home for the Austrian
And it's going to heavy rain in the race
Lap 2: In a surprising start, Lee overtakes both Mercedes and leads this race
Lap 3: Oh not again, Franz goes wide at turn 4 and drops places for the 2nd year running
Lap 10: It's getting darker above, the rain is coming. Gonzalez leads but Lee is still hanging in there and Franz has fought back to 3rd so far
Lap 12: An absolute queue in the pit lane as the crossover point is now, but at the rate of this rain, it might just pay off for the drivers staying out the extra lap
One of which was race leader Lee, and she comes out ahead of Gonzalez
Lap 14: The rain is starting to hammer down, we aren't far away from full wets at this rate
Gonzalez attacking hard but Lee is maintaining the lead for Ferrari
Lap 18: In classic Ferrari fashion, Lee is suffering a gearbox problem and has already dropped 4 seconds to Gonzalez in a single lap
In terms of the conditions, it has a fair amount of standing water but is said to clear up fast enough that the gain from full wets may not be worth it
Lap 23: The rain is starting to clear a bit, as has Lee's car problem
Lap 28: Franz is closing rather quickly on Gonzalez, being on average 3 tenths a lap quicker throughout the last few laps. Gap is 2.5 seconds
Lap 43: The race has rather calmed down in the last 15 laps, but Franz is now 1.3 seconds behind his teammate for the lead
Lap 46: The two Mercedes are now right with each other, hopefully no Azerbaijan moment again
Lap 51: Franz re-takes the lead of his home race, what a fightback so far
Race:

Where'd he find that in that Williams?
Audi: Mickael P15, Manfred P22
Mercedes: Mercedes P19, Wilhelm P17
Lap 1: Alpine lead a race for the first time this season, how the mighty have fallen
Lap 4: Franz has had a flying start, from 17th to 9th so far
Lap 19: Seems Mercedes are trying a different strategy to the rest of the teams, they are making a pit stop before the mid race rain arrives
Lap 31: It's working for Franz at the moment, he's overtaking cars left and right and setting times 3 seconds a lap faster than the leaders
Lap 35: Everyone has fit intermediates, the rain is coming down quickly enough that the track is damp
Lap 39: The rain is really hammering down, maybe full wets soon?
Lap 46: The track is as high is 5.70 mm, it's so tough for the drivers to stay in control out there
Looks like staying out paid off for everyone, it's back to damp 2 laps later
We're 9th and 2nd at this point
Lap 52: Make that the lead, Franz overtakes Amato and leads from 17th on the grid
And the rain has ended, are we going to see a mad dash on slicks at the end?
The answer is yes, a few drivers have pitted for slicks. Is anyone going to try and stick it out though?
Penultimate lap: Franz is setting times 8 seconds quicker on slicks than the cars in front, it might just be enough for the win here
He's already through, those intermediate runners must really regret staying out now
Race:
Finishing Order: Ferri DNF, Sasaki P21, Bevis P20, Usman P19, Lombardi P18, Araujo P17, Broutsos P16, Kramer P15, Karlsson P14, Rutten P13, Augar P12, Alves P11, Jones P10, Mann P9, Brun P8, Moreira P7, Lee P6, Sanna P5, Gonzalez P4, Amato P3, Girard P2, Franz P1

🇨🇦 Canada 2046:
Qualifying:
Q1 Knockouts: Franz P22, Araujo P21, Usman P20, Sasaki P19, Ferri P18, Broutsos P17
Turns out, it's kinda hard to get to the next session when both of the driver's laps are affected by traffic

Mercedes: Mercedes P1, Wilhelm P22
Given what happened last race, I'm confident a double podium is still on the cards
Lap 5: Red flag already, 3 cars out at the hairpin
Franz up to P13
Lap 11: From 22nd on the grid, Franz is up to 7th
Lap 14: 6 cars involved in an incident at turn 1. Lee, Amato, Sanna, Franz, Lombardi, and Amato all involved in contact
No need for a safety car though
Lap 45: Not much has happened since then, but it looks like Franz, who has to stop 1 more time, is costing Moreira, who is trying to get to the end, valuable time, which may allow Gonzalez to come out in front when she pits
Lap 47: Both cars have pitted, Franz has plenty of clean air in front, and Gonzalez is 6 seconds in front. Execution 100
Lap 64: Franz up to 2nd, I knew we could get a double podium
Lap 70: 2 cars have run out of fuel, race effectively over due to red flag

Lap 15: Franz went through on his teammate at Casino, he takes the lead
Lap 38: A Red Bull is right behind my car at Monaco... getting 2042 flashbacks
Thankfully not for the lead this time but still
Lap 54: Alves is the only driver in the top 10 trying a 2 stop. She is on soft tires, let's see if see can work though the traffic
Lap 63: The 2 stop is working, Alves is setting times 1.5 seconds faster than the nearest cars in front of her
Lap 72: Alves up to 5th, but those soft tires are running out of juice

Mid Season Debrief:
Haven't done one of these before so here's how it'll work:
We'll start with the team 11th in the constructors standings and work our way up to the team at the top of standings. The team's performance as well as their drivers will be highlighted.
11th: McLaren
Team Performance: Comfortably the worst team on the grid, very little was expected in the first place, and all 5 points scored so far have come at the hands of Elizabete Araujo.
Elizabete Araujo: Speaking of Araujo, she has done the best she can do so far, scoring all 5 points. Some flashes of the old speed are still there, but she is very much out of her prime.
Dorothy Broutsos: More of the same from her previous stint in F1, the return hasn't been better. Almost always getting beaten by teammate Araujo in qualifying and race battles, it's fair to say that no one is expecting any points from her
10th: Koenigsegg
Team Performance: The Swedish manufacturer's second season in F1 has been a notable downgrade from 2045. From consistent points and a podium to just 7 points by the summer break, and like McLaren, all at the hands of 1 driver.
Willi Rutten: Generally the better driver in this team at the moment, finishing higher in the races compared to his teammate. His 7th place at Brazil is what is keeping the team off the bottom of the table at the moment
Shigeru Sasaki: Not so bad by any means, but hasn't done much noteworthy this season, and that pretty much sums up her entire career. Is more often on the bad side of the teammate battle
9th: Aston Martin
Team Performance: The 2nd slowest car on the grid has had them very much handicapped this season, and a big downgrade from the previous season, from 4th to 9th. But they still have the services of Tom Karlsson, who has been proving his worth on multiple occasions.
Tom Karlsson: Speaking of Karlsson, the Finn has also scored all 12 of Aston Martin's points so far this season. He is always outclassing his teammate, sometimes substantially.
Paolo Lombardi: The Italian has been aboslutely nowhere this season. He has only made it out of Q1 including sprint sessions 4 times across all 14 races so far this season. And this definately doesn't help his races, scoring no points at all. He did have a slight chance at Canada when he ran in 9th early on, but contact damaged his car and his chances
8th: Audi
Team Performance: More of the same from last season, but both of their drivers do have capable hands, and those bring home more points. 37 points isn't too poor, but they do need to work on their car in order to maximize their drivers' performances.
Mickael Augar: Augar has proved to the be the better man at Audi, albeit slightly. He has been getting outqualified more often, but he does better in the races to bring home bigger and more consistent points
Manfred Kramer: Whenever his teammate does fall, the Dutchman can be there to pick up the pieces for Audi, contributing a fair amount of the 37 points that Audi have scored so far
7th: Williams-Rolls Royce
Team Performance: The Grove outfit have been rather lonely this first half of the season, 21 points ahead of the nearest team behind them but 46 points behind the nearest team in front of them. Like with Aston Martin, the battle is completely one sided.
Pietro Sanna: The Italian has been a hot figure in the paddock over the past year, and looking at his performances, understandably so. Consistently dragging the 7th fastest car to the top 10 on a regular basis, it has been rightfully rewarded, with all but 1 of the team's points coming from him.
Monifa Usman: She may be a landmark in F1 history becoming the first ever Botswanan to race in the sport, but her performances have never been convincing in the first place. Finding herself in the bottom 6 more often than not, a single 10th place at Silverstone is what is keeping her off the bottom of the table in the drivers standings
6th: Chevrolet
Team Performance: A noticeable improvement compared to the previous year, upgrading from 9th to 6th in the constructors standings so far. They aren't consistently able to keep up with the cars in front of them, but they can put up a fight for bigger points whenever the opportunity arises.
Maria Alves: The Brazilian has been the one to take those opportunities with both hands, scoring 3 podiums and regular top 7 finishes, she has contributed to the lion's share of the team's points. If Chevrolet can bring a more consistent package, she could be challenging for more podiums, and maybe even victories if the team at the top falter.
Xantara Bevis: Chevrolet's deadweight this season, rarely scoring points showcases her inconsistency during races. She may qualify well on a given day, but in the race she tends to fall down the order. Scoring a single podium in The Netherlands, only 6 of her points have not come from that single podium
5th: Ferrari
Team Performance: Equal to their performances of the previous year, staying in 5th in the constructors standings and scoring regular top 5 finishes on the weekly. Their car may not be consistently good enough to challenge the Bugattis and Red Bulls, but like Chevrolet, they can grab any given opportunities.
Verlee Lee: The American has really found her form again over past 1 and a half years with the Tifosi after a sour end with McLaren. Scoring the larger amount of the team's 142 points, she also took the only non Mercedes victory of the season so far at Azerbaijan, becoming the first American to win in a Ferrari since 1971
Monique Brun: What. the. hell. happened? The downturn in form of the Swiss driver needs to be studied. Peaking only 4 years ago in 2042 finishing 3rd in the drivers standings, and has never even finished in the top 10 in the standings since. She can provide a top 6 here and there, but is clearly being outclassed by her teammate
4th: Alpine
Team Performance: The downfall of the mighty 2030s team is really hitting them hard this season, slumping to 4th in the constructors standings in just 2 years. They can still fight the Bugattis and Red Bulls, but there is an asterisk.
Mireille Girard: The 2 time champion is making the most of the machinery she has, scoring 154 of the team's points this season with regular top 5 finishes, taking 4 podiums along the way. It's going to take a rebuild or a completely new team for her to return to that championship, but she is still doing very well right now.
Simone Ferri: Alpine may have fallen from grace, but they are still running at the sharp end of the points, and that gives the Italian no excuses. Scoring just 18 of the team's 172 points, he is often found in the 13th-17th area in the races, which yields no points. He has to improve if Alpine are to get the upper hand in the fight for 2nd in the constructors standings
3rd: Red Bull
Team Performance: The 3rd best team, Red Bull are meeting expectations this season, but are fighting Bugatti for 2nd in the constructors standings. Like Chevrolet, Ferrari, and Alpine, it's a one sided battle, but not one that is totally costing the Milton Keynes outfit.
Thomas Mann: The better of the New Zealander drivers in the team, he is regularly fighting for podiums and finishing there, if not still in the top 5. Scoring the large haul of the team's points, he is also fighting for 3rd in the drivers standings as well
Joshua Jones: The second New Zealander doesn't have a great track record when it comes to teammates, often getting beaten in the battles against them, and this season has been no different. Whilst not as inconsistent as Bevis, Brun, and Ferri, he does need to improve if Red Bull want to get the upper hand on Bugatti in the fight for 2nd in the constructors
2nd: Bugatti
Team Performance: Speaking of Bugatti, they are the 2nd best team of this season, but only slightly. They have improved after Alpine's fall from 2nd and Aston Martin's dramatic fall off, they have upgraded from 6th to 2nd in the constructors between seasons, and it is a step in the right direction.
Alessandro Amato: Once again outperforming his teammate in the inter-team rivalry, he is always seen in the top 5, taking a few podiums for good measure. The Italian is one of the best drivers of this season, and will need to keep the points going.
Amelia Moreira: Whilst less crash prone than years gone by, she has still racked up quite a repair bill for Bugatti, as she has done for every other team she has raced for in her career. Whilst 76 points is good enough to get Bugatti the upper hand against Red Bull in the constructors standings, the Brazilian does need to further clean up her driving to avoid losing car parts and points.
1st: Mercedes:
Team Performance: Self explanatory, the dominant force of the season after the major technical changes for this season. Winning all but one of the races so far this season, they could wrap up the constructors championship very early, but the drivers championship is still up for grabs between their two drivers.
Mercedes Gonzalez: In this rare occasion of the driver and the team having the same name, she has returned to the grid after a year away in fighting fashion, being slightly more consistent than her teammate and better controlling the car. However, her tire management is her main weakness, making them degrade more quickly than her teammate's.
Wilhelm Franz: The reigning champion after the Alpine era ended, he has had some tough competition from teammate Gonzalez this season. And it has shown as he has made a fair few more mistakes on track than Gonzalez. Nevertheless, the 2 drivers have gotten the maximum out of their car, which fittingly, echoes the Mercedes W07 of 2016 which is now 30 years old in this universe
Speaking of years, as I type this, the in game day is August 1st, 2046, making it 70 years since the 1976 German Grand Prix in this universe. We all know what happened then
As of the Portuguese Grand Prix, the following driver transfers for 2047 have been confirmed:
Mireille Girard: Renewed deal with Alpine (4 years)
Jurgen Gartling: Free Agent > Bugatti (4 years)
Maria Alves: Renewed deal with Chevrolet (4 years)
Darlene Tavares: Bugatti Affiliate > Williams-Rolls Royce (1 year)
Mercedes Gonzalez: Renewed deal with Mercedes (5 years)
Monifa Usman: Williams-Rolls Royce > Aston Martin (3 years)
Side note: Alpine are going to pay Girard a yearly salary of $68,775,000. What the f-?

Lap 56: Not much happened in 25 laps, until Gonzalez spun off and gave the lead to Franz. Only problem is that Girard is 8 tenths behind him
Lap 57: Girard takes the lead, could this be Alpine's first win since Japan last season? Oh, and Ferri in the other car is down in 15th
Lap 65: Safety car, hopefully the race can restart so we can bolt on fresh softs and take a 1-2

Moreira takes a pit lane start
Lap 24: Both Mercedes in, Girard followed them very well beforehand
Lap 26: Girard in, is it enough for Mercedes to undercut?
Answer is yes, with both cars
Thing is though, looks like Girard is doing a 2 stop, we're doing a 3 stop, so differing strategies here
Lap 45: Big lock up from Franz into turn 1, this effectively secures the victory for Gonzalez if this 3 stopper pays off
Lap 51: Turns out there's not enough a gap to Girard to pit both cars, so I'm turning this into a 2 stop to the end on the current set of softs
Race:
Finishing Order: Araujo P22, Usman P21, Bevis P20, Karlsson P19, Broutsos P18, Sasaki P17, Rutten P16, Lombardi P15, Ferri P14, Alves P13, Jones P12, Sanna P11, Moreira P10, Brun P9, Kramer P8, Augar P7, Lee P6, Mann P5, Amato P4, Girard P3, Franz P2, Gonzalez P1

Audi: Mickael P20, Manfred P3
Mercedes: Mercedes P2, Wilhelm P1
Lap 4: Kramer is getting racey, he's tried a move on Gonzalez twice now
Lap 6: Araujo crashes at turn 13, becoming one of the I can't count how many victims of that corner. It's rather home to some crashes there
Also Girard passed Kramer up to 3rd
Lap 13: Usman is the first one in the pits, people trying 2 stoppers it seems
Lap 15: More 2 stoppers, and one is 4th placed Kramer, a gamble from Audi there
Lap 20: Girard, Gonzalez, and Franz in for their seemingly 1 and only stop. Kramer was 11.2 behind the leader, he might come out in the lead here
Wasn't really close, 5 seconds between them now
Lap 23: Kramer leads, but he has to stop again, really needs to make this medium stint count
Lap 27: The top 2 engage in battle for the lead now, Kramer vs Girard
Lap 28: Kramer nearly went around the outside at Eau Rouge-Radillion, how cool would that have been?
Lap 33: No way are Audi trying to one stop now, it would kill Kramer's race
Lap 41: The battle at the front is reigniting, Gonzalez 1.9 behind Girard
Also Audi decided to pit Kramer now. Why? I don't know, ask Ferrari I guess
Lap 44: Last lap, last chance, Gonzalez took it, she takes the lead from Girard
Race:
Finishing Order: Araujo P22, Usman P21, Rutten P20, Broutsos P19, Augar P18, Lombardi P17, Jones P16, Sanna P15, Sasaki P14, Karlsson P13, Brun P12, Amato P11, Ferri P10, Bevis P9, Kramer P8, Mann P7, Alves P6, Lee P5, Moreira P4, Franz P3, Girard P2, Gonzalez P1
Winner: Mercedes Gonzalez
Audi: Mickael P18, Manfred P8
Mercedes: Mercedes P1, Wilhelm P3
Main Highlights:
Gonzalez wins 9th race of the season and extends lead in the drivers standings
Alves comes back from 14th to take 6th
Kramer loses a podium to bad strategy
Seriously, staying out on 30 lap old mediums trying to the end and then pitting for softs 3 laps to the end from 3rd. What on earth were they thinking in the first place?
They could've fit a set of softs when he was fighting Girard for the lead and charge back to the leaders

Objective off the start: Survive
And it's full wets
Lap 1: 12 people are on inters, 9 are on full wets off the start
Lap 21: Conditions are 100% full wet now, no doubt
And Kramer is making up for Belgium, he's running in 6th at the moment while his teammate is down in 13th
Lap 29: Red flag at the highest water level in this save so far, 6.43 mm of track water
Lap 34: So, I kinda had a rare blunder and fit inters on the start because it said it was going to be light rain 3 minutes after the restart. But when it actually restarted, it was 3 minutes to heavy rain, so everyone started on full wets. Now we've had to go back to full wets and we are 15th and 20th, but we should have a tire advantage because everyone else cooked their full wets on the restart
Lap 37: Kramer has spun and tapped the wall from 3rd, oh what a shame for Audi
Lap 47: I didn't notice this, but there's a rare opportunity for points for Koenigsegg, Sasaki is running in 9th at the moment

Race will be managed because it's Jeddah, better be more than 5 DNFs
Lap 7: Franz has crashed, this could be a crucial moment for the championship!
Lap 8: Only Usman stayed out, so a Botswanan driver will lead a race for the first time in F1 history
Lap 11: On the safety car restart, Usman gets a mechanical fault after leading for the first time. You can't make this crap up with the mechanical faults in this game
Lap 13: Xantara Bevis now takes the lead
Lap 16: Red flag, Augar and Moreira out. Well not surprising that it's the latter
Lap 27: Not much has happened other than the usual flip-flopping, but Usman has maintained 5th despite the problem, which we now know is a gearbox problem
Lap 29: Usman's gearbox problem has worsened, I really hope I didn't just do the commentators curse
Lap 41: We did a 2 stop with Gonzalez not counting red flags, and we have to catch Amato who has an 11.4 seconds gap in front. I think it's doable in 10 laps

Main Highlights:
Amato unexpectedly wins 1st race of the season
Mann comes back from 17th to take 3rd
Sanna comes back from 18th to take 5th
Araujo comes back from 20th to take 9th
Usman ran as high as 4th place, but suffered a gearbox problem and dropped to 17th. Damn shame
That crash could have just cost Franz the championship, because if he wins all of the final 3 races and Gonzalez finishes 2nd, the gap will be 2 points in Gonzalez's favour
Also, we might have 8 teams breach 100 points come the end of Australia, which will be the first time this has happened since 2032? I don't even remember at this point

Aston Martin was broke from day 1 this year, even after sponsors, so we have no upgrades for the opening few rounds
First practice of the season and Lombardi has already crashed. Not a good omen, if I'm honest

Lap 14: Safety car. The order is Lee, Mann, Amato, Franz, Gonzalez the top 5
Not before Lombardi went through another front wing, those aren't infinite you know?
Lap 21: Amato locks up from 3rd, and phases through Franz's car? I guess technology has come a long way

Monifa starts P11 due to grid penalty for Lee
I like that, 11th place to start, great qualifying from Usman
Lap 3: Franz leads
In terms of us, Usman dropped a place to 12th but is hanging in DRS, and Lombardi is up to 17th
Make that 11th and 16th, Tavares has lock up at the end of the back straight
Lap 4: Gartling has a spin and bunches up the pack behind him
Lap 31: In 27 laps, Gonzalez has climbed up from 10th all the way to 1st and is fighting Franz for it
Lap 33: Usman is out, VSC
And everyone pits, that's our clever strategy down the toilet, f- sake
Lap 40: Franz has stayed out a few extra laps while Gonzalez has pitted, the gap is currently 14.2
Lap 42: Franz pits, Gonzalez leads by 9 seconds

Lap 1: Turn 1 crash already, Brun with heavy car damage, Amato and Araujo get away with minor damage

WE'RE IN THE POINTS

And Crofty keeps talking about Koenigsegg. My brother, we scored points in one of the slowest cars, why aren't we getting any coverage?

And in typical Ferrari fashion, Lee now has a gearbox fault
Lap 28: 3 cars are still to pit, and once they do, I think decent points on the cards
Lap 40: Our hard tires are really paying off, we've gone from 8th and 10th to 3rd and 4th at the moment
Lap 53: We pit, soft tires on both cars while the rest in front have 75% hard tires. This should be a good one
5 laps to go: We gained so much time, that Lombardi is now only 4.5 seconds behind Franz for the lead
Final lap: Lombardi went 4 seconds quicker than Franz, but Mercedes have caught wind and have given him everything

Lap 2: Lombardi up 4 places to 3rd, it's a proper Mercedes vs Aston Martin battle this race
Lap 5: Franz has hit the wall! He's definitely out of contention now
It held up Lombardi, so it is now a two horse race between Usman and Gonzalez
Lap 11: VSC, now who does what in terms of pit stops?
Lap 12: VSC ending, no one has pitted
Lap 16: Gonzalez pits, we're reacting on lap 17
Lap 18: We're ahead, but only a traffic car seperates the net leaders
Lap 34: Gonzalez pits for 2nd time onto mediums. We're pitting for softs next lap

Race is all the way through with rain, we'll have a great tire advantage due to temps

Lap 4: Most drivers' tires are in the 80%s, we are at 96%
Lap 11: Usman leads with Franz behind, our inters are 22% better than his
Lap 14: 1-2 led by Usman now, I knew this rain would be good for us
Lap 23: The AI are hitting 40% wear, we are still at 75%
A few exceptions though
Lap 36: Most pit 10 laps ago, we are cruising at the moment
Lap 53: So I had a rare moment of misjudgment and forgot to pit, so now we have to do a 0 stop and hope the gap is big enough
Unless the Mercedes behind pit then we pit as well
Lap 65: Usman has to hold off Franz for the lead now, and she's doing well at the moment
Lap 69: Lombardi back up to 2nd
