This wasn't my original other save idea, but I decided that would be too easy, so here's this

Franco Colapinto... 47th out of 51 drivers you can select for CAT... A questionable decision, but worth it?

Let's find out

I will create Andretti as a hungry newcomer and sign Sargeant to the team

But I will start the save as Williams and replace him with Colapinto

Aim: get Franco a WDC

Very Hard/Very Hard (by the power of rule 5)

Bonus rule: no driver/staff development plans, must always use balanced (otherwise it's too easy, remember Iron Dames?)

This will be hard because:

  • Franco is slow
  • After 2025 I'll need to have an even slower driver in the other seat to prevent them stealing the WDC off Franco
  • The AI teams are better at money management now (and probably car development)
  • Franco will probably crash a lot (then again, so would Sargeant)
  • In 2025, so will his teammate
  • Probably many other reasons I can't think of
#

Feel free to suggest any others too, can be anyone of any rating, I just put whom I think would be the 20 most popular, not in that order

#

Bearman it will be, then

#

Meet team Andretti, I went for mostly generated staff because they were younger and I though a team of youngsters would be realistic

#

We did not achieve Q3, as expected, although we were close

#

Albon has a good shot at points, but he had to use his tyres to get there, so the race may be hard

#

I did give Andretti a 2 dot car, but they're acting like it's 1

#

Albon maintains P11 at the start

#

While Franco had a horrible start, fell to P19, then made it up to P18

#

Oh yean and the Andrettis are last

#

Thanks to Stroll locking up, we're in the points

#

Never mind other cars are just sailing past at DRS zones

#

Meanwhile Franco shunted into Bearman who was behind him somehow

#

FIA were also confused and gave Bearman a penalty

#

Even the Saubers what the hell how

#

Now everyone has pitetd, Albon's P18, I have no idea where out race pace was and we can't even get it back on strategy as Albon's being forced into an awkward one

#

Like seriously what am I supposed to do here (Albon is on full attack with fresh mediums btw)

#

Well I'm guessing that was a fluke from Zhou, weird

#

Ocon turned in on Stroll, both got heavy damage

#

Ocon also shunted Zhou

#

Albon got up to P17 but is in the middle of nowhere after that

#

Not sure if I'm great at qualis or horrible at races

#

Colapinto had to pit early and stayed P21 for the whole race

#

In Saudi I didn't qualify as well, so maybe the confidence loss won't happen?

#

Alex stays where he is as he's starting on hards - Franco moved up a bit but lucked up back to P17

#

It's another classic case of cars can overtake under DRS then break DRS despite us going as fast as possible

#

Franco is now last

#

I get Franco's tyres back to where they should be and he locks up again

#

Franco binned it, oh well he was last anyway

#

Sargeant binned it on the restart, red flag now

#

After the start Albon found himself P15, considering the red flag screwed our strategy that isn't bad

#

He managed to catch up to two people and get past, so it's not all bad

#

Still no points tho

#

Zhou and Bearman did something or other on the last lap

#

Not bad, considering

#

Considering with these challenge runs we sacrifice the first 3-4 races of the save for long term gains

#

I suppose Australia quali could've been worse

#

Albon was held up in his final flyer

#

Maybe it couldn't've been worse for Franco - also what happened Mercedes?

#

Maybe Franco needs to work on his smoothness... just maybe

#

Alex has been making a couple of moves, Franco is still at the back

#

But yeah - you see what I mean by other drivers being faster? Albon is gonna get overtaken once at every DRS zone and will basically join Franco in last

#

Hulk got alex on the main straight and after the second DRS zone he's already a second ahead

#

Even Sargeant can, this is why we safrifice the first few races

#

Franco has a gearbox fault - not gonna lie, saw it coming, thought he'd be at the back anyway so whatever

#

What is up with the Mercs today Alex can keep up

#

Bearman is just chilling on the road with a lot of sparks? Anyway that triggered a safety car right when Albon was about to pit

#

Not much else happened except what a climb from the Mercs, Franco was alpped by Alex... yeah

paper roost
#

It's been a while, work weeks are busy

#

Anyway, I've been talking to some people and testing stuff out in Guess My Team and I'd be interested to see how I do in Japan with my newfound strategy skills

#

Good start Franco (It's Q1 btw)

#

It was a pretty Red Bull-dominated quali

#

An Andretti made it to Q2 as Tsunoda's car was destroyed by Franco

#

And Albon was at the top of Q1 eliminations

#

Albon got past the slow Andretti to make it up to P15

#

Same with Franco, P21

#

Never mind he's randomly slow

#

Alex is going strong, he's P11 before any pitstops happened, the process works

#

Not really much to say - Albon comes out of his last pit P14, no one around, let's see what the final charge brings

#

Sadly Albon was lapped right at the end so P12-11 were out of reach

#

Lando has quite the climb, Verstappen wins

#

It was just out of reach but far from points anyway

#

At elast Franco beat the Andrettis

#

We're at the top of the pointless table

#

Let's do China, We've got some upgrades in and I feel luckier than that

#

SQ1 has a clash

#

Williams dominance could bore fans

#

Well something worked for sure because Albon got into SQ3

#

And Franco got into SQ2

#

An amazing start for Albon sees him in points

#

Franco stayed where he started which is still good for him

#

Albon stuck where he was whilst Franco is using DRS to pick off cars one by one

#

At the end with out built up tyre advantage, It's Albon's turn to pick off cars and move up

#

Albon couldn't get past the Ferraris, but P6 is our first points

#

Max wins again

#

Franco moves up a bit too, that's all good

#

Verstappen poles it too, as our boys do better than the sprint quali slightly, it could be a good race

#

Colapinto outqualified a Ferrari btw

#

The race will be in a little bit I have something to do first

paper roost
#

Alright, race time

#

Franco is unfortunately being forced into an awkward strategy because low smoothness, and as per the rules of the challenge we aren't fixing that any time soon

#

Albon stayed where he was, Franco is in the points

#

Franco can even fight with the Mercs

#

Albon got up to P5 after the second lap

#

Franco falls down to P11 after faster cars behind like Leclerc get by

#

Albon got jumped in the pits by Sainz

#

Norris had a pit issue, free place for Albon

#

It's just far too easy to overtake Franco

paper roost
#

Franco did Franco things

#

Albon took the fight with Leclerc to the very end, he emerges victorious for P6

#

We are solid points contenders now, the magic of car dev

#

What a weekend for Alex

#

Franco is now 69 rated

paper roost
#

Miami Sprint - I think Alex Q3 Franco Q2 is what will be for the time being

#

Franco up to P14 at the start, Alex P5

#

Shoutout to Yuki for keeping his high quali position

#

So we pretty much have our fights now - for Alex it's Tsunoda

#

And for Franco it's Hulkenberg

#

Hulk fell behind, Franco's new contender is Ricciardo

#

Meanwhile Norris pushed alex off so he's two seconds back from those two now

#

And plenty of other cars are just waiting for the overtake

#

There is a saving grace, however

#

Actually it's bad fo us, faster cars can get by on the straights when we don't have DRS

#

Well a point is a point
