Hi guys!

You might be wondering why I make another Manager 22 Career post...

Well, since McLaren became Constructors Champions last year, every single team will seek to dethrone us, and I want to see if McLaren dominance in the modern days is indeed possible, or if it's just a one-year wonder...

Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris will once again try to get McLaren to victory, and Lewis, the reigning champ, will try to hunt his ninth championship title.

But first, let me show you the driver roster for 2025...

🇬🇧 McLaren:
🇬🇧 Lewis Hamilton
🇬🇧 Lando Norris

🇮🇹 Ferrari:
🇲🇨 Charles Leclerc
🇲🇽 Sergio Pérez

🇦🇹 Red Bull:
🇳🇱 Max Verstappen
🇪🇸 Carlos Sainz

🇬🇧 Mercedes:
🇫🇮 Valtteri Bottas
🇬🇧 George Russell

🇫🇷 Alpine:
🇫🇷 Esteban Ocon
🇩🇰 Kevin Magnussen

🇮🇹 AlphaTauri:
🇫🇷 Pierre Gasly
🇹🇭 Alexander Albon

🇺🇸 Haas:
🇦🇺 Daniel Ricciardo
🇳🇱 Richard Verschoor (Rookie)

🇨🇭 Alfa Romeo:
🇩🇰 Frederik Vesti
🇩🇪 Sebastian Vettel

🇬🇧 Aston Martin:
🇨🇳 Guanyu Zhou
🇨🇦 Lance Stroll

🇬🇧 Williams:
🇩🇪 Mick Schumacher
🇯🇵 Yuki Tsunoda

Especially Magnussen, Pérez and Verschoor are very interesting, because Pérez gets a new lifeline with a new team, Magnussen finally got away from Haas, Verschoor will debut in F1, and especially interesting is the fact that Verstappen and Sainz, after a whopping ten years, are now teammates again. Unfortunately, Alonso didn't stay in F1, which is kind of a bummer. But yeah, F1 is changing quite a lot.

Anyway, bid us good luck. And hopefully, we can keep our crown at the end of the season. 👑

And once the season is over, I will go over to F1 Manager 23.

Bahrain Qualifying is over.

And once again, our main weakness is top speed, and especially DRS top speed. So our main goal for the first few races will be to mitigate this weakness until we have to work on the regulation changes for next year. One thing is certain though: Red Bull are back to being our main championship rivals, and with Carlos Sainz taking the first pole position of the year, things don't look too good right now...

#

It's not like we won't fight though. We're going to try our damn best to get a good first result under our belts.

rocky sonnet
#

A mixed result for our first race as reigning champions.

Lando had a pretty severe lock-up early in the race, which put him to the back of the field, and therefore he remained stuck in traffic for a long time.

But you know, we have Lewis Hamilton to carry us, and he has shown it once again, taking first place ahead of Leclerc and Verstappen.

But yeah, if one thing is clear for the rest of the season, it's obvious that Verstappen will be our arch nemesis in the fight for this title.

This is just in:

Eight time champion Lewis Hamilton has recently announced his retirement following the 2025 Saudi Arabian GP. McLaren's team principal, Nico Wolf, is already looking at options for a replacement, and is considering a 19-year old Oliver Bearman to race for McLaren in 2028, when Lewis Hamilton will leave F1 for good.

It's still unclear what exactly will happen, as the option of bringing Lando Norris back for replacing Hamilton is still there, but Wolf publicly said: "I have no immediate plans, as Lewis's contract lasts until the end of 2027. For now, we're preparing for the arrival of our new guy for 2026, Felipe Drugovich. But I do hope that Lewis can make do with the years he's got left. Maybe he can get a ninth, maybe a tenth championship title before the contract runs out..."

So uhh Drugovich 2026-27 and Bearman 2028-

Bearman will be the successor of Lewis Hamilton in 2028. Felipe Drugovich will replace Lando Norris from 2026 onward, and it will be a three or four year contract.

Interesting thing that I just saw...

Apparently, our victory in the Constructors Championship last year convinced almost every team save for Alfa Romeo to run Mercedes power units. So not just us, but Williams, Haas, AlphaTauri and Aston Martin now run Mercedes engines. Especially AlphaTauri is hard to believe, since they're affiliated with Red Bull, which kinda makes them our rivals. But hey, I'm fine with their choice to join the Mercedes side. 😊

Holy magnolias. Monaco was fricking insane.

Despite a spin from Lewis that cost us a suspension and a horrible lap from Lando in Q2 that saw him do a second run to advance, we pretty much dominated the competition in the race itself.

Our first goal was to get as much of a gap to third place before our pit stops, as we decided to opt to a two stop strategy. And this worked out very well despite the fact that I pushed a bit too much with Lando, after which I had to assign a team order to let Lewis Hamilton go to give him a tow while conserving tires. And this plan worked out perfectly, aside from the little bit of traffic that Lando had after his first pit stop.

And yeah, saying that we dominated the race would be acting modest. In fact, we destroyed the competition by lapping the entire grid with both drivers. It's just like my Mercedes save in Season 2, in which Lewis and George lapped the grid with the super powerful Mercedes as well. And now, we got the new iteration of this very race. Although it wasn't Verstappen that took the podium this time, but George Russell. (by the way, another Triple British Podium) 🇬🇧

Our winning streak continues through Canada.

However, the most recent win there came at a big price.

Three laps from home, Lando Norris locked up and crashed, damaging the front wing in the process, basically handing the win to Lewis Hamilton, who now took his 8th win in Montréal, the track where he first won an F1 race.

We're still massively in the front, so I'm not worried about anything yet. Right now, we're intensely focusing on research for next year, as the reg changes reduce 5% from everything. And let's just say, the more we do, the more we counter those changes.

rocky sonnet
#

After Lando's unfortunate crash in Canada, we got redemption in Silverstone as McLaren not only got a one-two with Lewis and Lando, but because Lewis topped his lap record from last year.

The Mercedes team, also at their home grand prix, got a good result with Bottas too. And can I also emphasize the performance of Gasly and Verstappen? Gasly fought for the podium all day long, and Verstappen spun twice and still ended in 5th.

Nevertheless, OUR WINNING STREAK CONTINUES! 🇬🇧🏆

Our winning streak continues once more, but it has a bitter note to it.

Lando qualified in P2, but right on lap 3, he locked up and lost pretty much all the positions.

However, Lando wouldn't be Lando if he couldn't come back from such a severe mistake, as against all odds and despite more mistakes later in the race, he still got a hold of P4 with the fastest lap.

Lewis Hamilton adds another win to his impressive record, but guess what - Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly joined him on the podium. Gasly had a contact with Sainz near the end which completely worn out his tires, but Pierre held on and took third place.

Verstappen though was not able to gain a position. He ended up in P20, one lap behind Lewis Hamilton.

And, I just noticed that, Richard Verschoor finally scored his first points. His first points in F1 are an 8th place finish, in a car that shouldn't be capable of doing that.

rocky sonnet
#

Another example of why Lewis Hamilton is the world's finest driver.

We basically did a remaster of the 2019 race in Hungary, where we went for a two stop strategy, while the provisional leader Verstappen stuck with a one stop strategy, and that cost him both the win and second place, because both Lewis and Lando got past him, and after a thrilling final lap chase from Lando, he got close but couldn't catch Lewis, who now takes his 11th win in a row, and his 12th of the year.

Our winning streak stays alive, and after the summer break, we'll see if we can continue our winning streak or if one guy finally manages to get both of our drivers...

Can I also emphasize that Lewis locked up one time which cost him five seconds, but he still took the win plus a new lap record? Yeah, any other driver never would have taken the win like that.

There are interesting things happening about Fernando Alonso...

After being unable to secure a drive for 2025, even until the halfway point after the Hungarian GP, Fernando Alonso has decided to quit F1 for good.

He said: "I completely understand the decision of the teams, and why they decide to put their hopes in young blood. Just look at me. I have been in F1 for longer than anyone else, even during my two year pause. Now I'm 44 years old, and I want to live a calm and peaceful life away from the track. And let's be honest, with how powerful McLaren is this year, I highly doubt I would get a third title anytime soon."

Nico Wolf, McLaren's team principal, said that Fernando Alonso was a true inspiration for F1, and that especially his achievements back in the mid 2000s will always be remembered. He also called Fernando "one of the best alongside Lewis, Lando, and even Sebastian Vettel".

Our winning streak has come to an end. 😭

Lewis locked up into the Bus Stop chicane, causing him to crash, and overall, we just didn't have any pace this weekend, not even enough for the podium.

Even crazier, you will not believe who took victory. It was Sebastian Vettel, with his first victory since what, Singapore 2019? I don't know, but it took him 6 years to get another victory.

rocky sonnet
#

That's it. That's the last straw.

Now, destroying two front wings in Practice in Spa is one thing, but spinning out in the lead of the Dutch Grand Prix near the end...

Yeah no, I'm not doing this anymore. I'm bringing Felipe Drugovich in. It's happening. Felipe gets his chance at McLaren.

At the very least, we got redemption and won the race in Zandvoort with Lewis. But Lando's had his numerous chances I gave him after screwing something up, and now it's time for him to leave, take some time off from F1 and hope that he can find a new team for next year.

rocky sonnet
#

Okay, I guess I spoke too soon.

Alpine decided to sack Kevin Magnussen and approach Lando Norris. And after confirming a 23 million contract for the rest of the year, Lando is now with Alpine.

Honestly, I'm happy with that. At least our golden boy stays in F1, and Alpine got a huge upgrade with Lando compared to Magnussen. More pace, more racecraft, more consistency... I just hope that he's not going to destroy the beautiful blue cars too. But with 97 control, it should be fine.

Felipe's phenomenal debut is being overshadowed by a very bitter incident at the start of the final lap of the Italian GP.

Pushing to fight for the podium in Monza, Felipe missed his braking point and shunted into Verstappen's rear, which gave him a 5 second penalty. However, lucky Felipe punctured Verstappen's tire with that move which allowed him to keep hold of P7, as well as the fastest lap of the race.

So yeah, could have been more, but you can't be mad about 7 points in your debut. Felipe is still learning, but I have the feeling that he can be a world champion someday.

By the way, Pierre Gasly took his second career win, on the same track he got his first one at.

Chaos and duels in Singapore!

Two Safety Cars triggered by Lance Stroll and Daniel Ricciardo gave us a lifeline for victory.

In the end, it was a 1vs1 between Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Drugovich for the win, and in the end, Lewis Hamilton edged it on the final lap of the race.

You can't be unsatisfied with Felipe though. His second race, and he already scored a podium. If I'm certain about one thing, it's obviously that Felipe is an exciting man for the future...

rocky sonnet
#

If we can get Felipe's control further up, he might turn into a new Ayrton Senna.

In Suzuka, Felipe once again showed that he's still learning, as he locked up twice in the same corner, first taking out George Russell and then smashing into the wall.

However, he also proved that he can be super fast, as he managed to smash Lando's lap record from last year. We just need to get his control stat up to prevent things like lock-ups from happening.

By the way, at the end of the race, the now nine time champion Lewis Hamilton had a very cool fight with Max Verstappen for the lead, which gave me Abu Dhabi 2021 vibes, as it was the same situation with Lewis on worn Hards and Verstappen on fresher Softs. Thankfully, Lewis emerged victorious and gave us another win.

rocky sonnet
#

Wow... We actually got our first disappointing race of the season, and it took us till Austin to get it.

But to be fair, considering that the Safety Car came out at the worst possible time and ruined our strategy, I'm not surprised. Like, we were on Hards on Lap 30, and we couldn't go on Mediums because they wouldn't last till the end (seriously, Austin is like Qatar in F1 23).

We managed to edge out some points with P4 and P10, but had the Safety Car come out later, we could have had a shot at more.

rocky sonnet
#

Seems like Felipe's luck he had back in Monza has completely run out for the rest of the year.

First up, Felipe locked up and scratched the wing slightly, which wasn't too bad (in fact, it doesn't affect performance that much to require a stop), but later in the race, oh my goodness.

Lando Norris went all like "You don't deserve to be a McLaren driver!" and just shunted into the rear of Felipe's car, terminally damaging it in the process.

At the very least, we still have Lewis Hamilton that carries us if Felipe is hit with bad luck. He managed to take 1st place against some powerful rivals with much better cars, which also once again shows that it's mostly the driver that makes a difference, and not the car.

Crashgate 2.0 in Brazil?

That's basically what this felt like, as the local hero, Felipe Drugovich, has knocked out both himself and Richard Verschoor, which triggered a Safety Car.

And let's just say, had this Safety Car not come out, Lewis Hamilton wouldn't have had a chance to go on Soft tires and get a shot for the win.

In the end, Lewis did win the race, but at a high price. Seriously, as long as we don't get Felipe's control further up, I don't see any big improvement.

Was I wrong to sack Lando Norris then? 😢

FELIPE DRUGOVICH IS AN F1 RACE WINNER!

After a very poor performance at the Brazilian Grand Prix that made EVERYONE doubt the performance of Felipe Drugovich AND the decision of McLaren's team principal Nico Wolf, who was in a rollercoaster of emotions following said race, Felipe Drugovich made all his previous mistakes undone and took victory in the final race of the year in Abu Dhabi!

Nico Wolf said about that: "I always knew that Felipe had it in him, that he has the potential to win a Formula 1 race. And seeing this young Brazilian win his first race after a terrible home race performance shows that while he still has much to learn, he is a very talented driver indeed, and I can see a golden future coming for McLaren. The only question will be if we were able to use the regulation changes to our advantage so that Felipe can consistently fight for the podium next year."

#

Lando Norris, who barely missed out on the podium, finishing P4, said: "That was simply amazing. One of the best races I have ever seen from a newcomer. I totally underestimated him. Now I understand why Nico puts his faith into this man. He's going to be a great driver, and one day, he might become champion. One thing is clear though: He has a great team and with Lewis Hamilton a great mentor. You can learn a lot from a nine time champion like him."

With that, McLaren finish both championships on top, successfully defending their Crown. Lewis Hamilton finished 1st with 500 points, Felipe Drugovich finished 12th with 52 points, and McLaren scored a total of 777 points.
