so i qualified gasly for 3rd for the spanish grand prix but during the actual race his lap time is a second slower than everybody else and he ends up out of points by lap 10. this is so annoying and made me ragequit the game. is this a bug or some????

I had something similar in Monza where Albon started 5th and was 12th within less than 9 or 10 laps. I think it’s maybe because of the car set up but I can’t confirm that

Happens to me almost every race with McLaren even if the setup is at 100% and the cars behind me start on slower tires. And yes, I always go full pace on the opening laps.
Happens to both drivers.
Looks to me like the AI is almost always in full attack while their tires don't wear out as fast as if I was constantly pushing.
I've not finished a single season because it's so annoying.

It's partially the confidence snowball. By qualifying higher, you're almost certainly going to overtaken by the actually faster cars, and as soon as that starts happening, your driver loses confidence. Since confidence provides a bonus when it's good, and it also takes away your driver's ability when it's negative. So you get overtaken by a faster car, your driver gets slower because of a confidence drop. They get overtaken again, until you're so slow you're being overtaken by cars that actually aren't faster than yours in the first place.

I had this problem where the other cars were just ridiculously faster. My mistake was that I switch to always defend from the start. That makes them so slow. Once i just kept them in neutral instead of always defend i was competitive
