Music you should most likely start off on youtube and watching piano content and then move to practicing scales, arpeggios etc. you can find those online pretty easily. Comprehension stuff might be boring but I skipped it and now in a lot of trouble for harder pieces. you should also probs try out tonic which is a music learning sharing app thing so others can help you. Simply piano things are honestly not very useful unless youre just playing simple pieces for fun.

TLDR: most apps suck for specific help, use youtube to start and try follow along, practice scales, if you need help just use some free trial tutoring

hi! i need brutal honesty before i make bad decisions:
i'm in 10th grade
i want to go to carnegie mellon for something regarding either computers or engineering (or computer engineering lol). im actively taking APWH, english 10 honors, algebra 2 honors, chem 1, TED (technology engineering and design) honors + electrical, and spanish III. APWH was the only AP class i was able to take this year. id like to take ap pre calc, ap spanish 4 and possibly ap physics 1 next year, as well as my TED classes (they have the same material, you just do competitions and things for another year). ive done 5 job shadows (requirement of 3) i'm in multicultural club, did golf for 2 years, want to do flag football on a team, and have done 1 competition this year (VEX robotics). i have As in every class. i'm a gifted kid as well. i got an 1140 on my PSAT in october (first one ive taken).

my goals are to get a couple of good scholarships, join national honors society, and hopefully go to carnegie mellon. (all while having at least a little bit of free time every day :D)

Be charismatic and smile. Mention your passion for things (like language, sports, musical instruments). The interviewer will definitely keep the conversation going but it’s the time to brag about yourself. If you don’t know the answer to a question say like “oh that’s interesting let me thing about that” to buy time. It’s just a conversation, I know it is stressful but as long as you’re casual and laugh and just seem like a good person you’ll be okay. Also mention the factors of the school you like, for example: if you have already shadowed mention a teacher you liked. Dm me if you have any more questions ive done a good amount of interviews lol

I also had the same plan to take geo and alg 2 in 9th in one year but it’s not really a good idea since 1. What you learn in geo you use in alg2 so you prob. Could be lost

aside from meditation (which is what i'm doing everyday rn), what are other ways to control thoughts and emotions (habitual actions, not temporary actions)?
I'm trying my best to make sure i get enough and quality sleep, keep on minimum social media usage (while still using Internet and some messaging apps for learning, searching for things, reading news and connect to people, btw i avoid politics at all cost), exercise and breathe fresh air frequently, maintain a good and healthy diet, stay hydrated
Problem is that i find myself harder to control emotions these days, idk why but it makes me hard to focus on tasks, i instead procrastinate to think about things that i find "meaningful" at first, but turns out it's nonsensical, and it's kinda annoying
I also find myself involving more in IRL arguments, like before when people made fun of me, idgaf, but now I kind of wanting to shut down ridicules or criticisms from people, probably 'cause i'm more self-awareness? or is that i'm becoming egotistic? idk, i'd like to hear from y'all (if you need more context then ping me in #venting )

i don’t know where im supposed to ask this type of question but im absolutely terrified of public speaking. i can at most talk in front of 3-4 people and id have to know them really well. i just started high school and in my english and ap history classes they’ve done seminars. we’d go around and my classmates would talk and stuff then it’d get to be my turn and i panic and freeze up. seminars are a big part of my classes and i don’t know how to stop myself from doing that because i do want to participate and get a good grade on them but my body just doesn’t let me. i have all the questions and notes right in front of me but i can’t seem to spit it out when it’s my turn to speak. does anyone have a way to cope with the anxiety of speaking in front of your class or a way to better prepare myself to participate in seminars?

I suggest starting convos with 1 or 2 of your classmates, that way you'll have someone to feel comfortable talking to during seminar. In my case, I usually look for the people I trust and respect to keep on doing public speaking. It might work for you too!

the way to circumvent this, is to group the items together as one chunk of information

If it's your future that truly motivates you then you should try and find a balance between pushing yourself, maintaining good habits and not worrying about grades as much.
Always remember that there are many ways to get to where you want to be

If you can be more specific about your goals by reflecting on what it is you truly want then you will have a better idea of what you are working for. Include how your education will affect your future and outline why it is so significant. And write it down. Why uni? What's the plan there? The more info you're able to find on your motivation, likes, dislikes and the general job market - the better.

So if you're out of ideas I recommend trying some school clubs, volunteering, a sports/e-sports team, maybe getting involved in your local religious community if you're into it. Also take part in random competitions, workshops etc. that your school/local area offers - you don't have to win, you'll be there to check if you can see yourself doing that in the future

It's a bad idea. You might be able to get some work done (though the longer you stay up the lower quality it'll be) but then the next day your cognitive abilities will take a hit (forcing you to spend more time on whatever will be covered that day) and you'll just feel bad in general.
So get off Discord and get started on your work, then get some sleep + (assuming history isn't on the first period) try doing some bits in-between classes or on your commute to school
