most common ones are just

this year the applicant average took a sudden surge/increase

the region you're applying from has a huge number of applicants and they're trying to vary their demographics

the major/faculty you're applying to is much more competitive than the rest, casuing the admission avg for it to be higher than overall avg posted

possibly your course rigor too (if they consider it). For universities that do consider it, having a harder course and a decent average is much better than someone who had an easier course but an extremely high avg

What’s the best peer review journal for posting research papers for free (that I can use for on the common app for college) (I’m in high school and am doing this independently if it helps)

There are different methods and versions of a spelling bee competition, i'll share my experiences xd

• First of all they gave us a proper venue to settle in, usually a big one with a lot of chairs, and judges in the middle.

• We had to register first to ensure that we are eligible and willing to participate in the competition.

• Judges have a long list of words ready, with the difficulty appropriate for the participants' age or grade.

• They gave us a brief explanation of the rules, like the order of turns, consequences for incorrect spelling and time limits, etc. (& orientation aswell)

• After that the spelling bee begins, everyone following a sequence for participants to spell words, and if you spelled a word wrong, you would be eliminated. (Elimination rounds)

• This would continue on until theres a winner.

• However there are exceptions; such as when nobody spelled correctly ANY words during that round. (You just call everyone who last that round and start over again)

And if there are only two people left, it results in a duel. (intense music :0)

This is where only one person has to be the only victor. In my experience:

If player 1 wins but player 2 also wins; Restart Round
If player 1 loses but player 2 also wins; Restart Round
If player 1 loses BUT player 2 wins; Player 2 wins and vice versa.

This could be altered like you need 3 correct points to win, etc.

Theres also another format, where instead of elimination rounds, all players are just sitting down on chairs holding a pen and paper, and the announcer just says the words outloud, and the moderators monitoring the participants. The person with the most points at the end wins.

I've also experienced a spelling bee where they would divide words into Easy (1 point), Intermediate (2 points) and Hard words (3 points),

I am about to start high school and I found out that you can get your associate's degree from that high school for free.
I need some guidance because, on the one hand, you can get it for free and only do 2 years of college, but on the other hand, I want the full college experience.

Are you sure it's the associates degree? that's usually offered in college

personally, i would say it's only worth it if you're looking towards joining the workforce early and/or cost may be an issue for post-secondary education

if you'd like to continue on with your academic studies (i.e. get a masters, MD, etc) then i suggest you don't and use the entire years of your post-secondary experience rather than cutting it short

additionally, 'better' or more higher-ranked schools would not accept the associates you have already and still require you to take the full years of education

so that's another thing, unless you want to go to technical college or something less academically rigorous, it's also not useful

Everything @mild frigate is saying is valid, but yes you can get an associates in high school

It’s not through your high school, rather, it’s through an affiliated college, usually a cc or local public uni

Again, might not always be the best idea unless you plan to go to that college (read skatr duk’s stuff)

But whether you still want to or not, it would be in your best interests to still take college course through that affiliated college

It will save money in the future and show colleges that you’re prepared to take their courses
