Oh I see
So basically AP Euro is 6th period, and because I am moving to 6th period instead of moving to 2nd period or 1st period band, I had to change my social science to AP World and drop Honors chem so I could have it move at the semester
Ah ok
If band stayed in 7th period I could be in all honors classes.
I wish I could have taken both world and euro
Can’t relate
I just did 9 freshman and 8 sophomore but no arts yet
9 what?
Classes
I took 1 outside of school and my school gave me permission to take 8 in school that year
damn
Wow
Same
Ok guys I want to get into the Ivy League, and I’m on all of my top classes I can be in EXCEPT I’m taking German 1 (average) instead of German 2 (bit advanced), is that okay or will colleges look that as a disadvantage?
Ig i can do comm college classes online during summer
Wil u be able to do ap german
No…
Will u be able to do it all 4yrs
Then is not a commitment class and u only took it for grad
My school we need to do lote for 2yrs
But other can go for a whole 4yrs
Plus take the ap
So it’s okay to be a average for that one subject
Ig
Since it’s only German
This is how it works
Next year freshman year I’m taking German 1
I will get into the honors though
So you only do german 1 and 2
I will do all of the classes
I did french 1 freshman and now im doing ap french senior year
I will advised during german 4 aka senior year tell your counselor if u can double course ap german and german 4
What’s a double course mean?
You take both during the same year
Is fine
Will colleges see that as a bad thing
Most school allows that
If u able to take a ap class do it
Well, can’t I just take another AP class instead?
I feel like it will be a waste of 2 periods doing it
Oh deff
I take ap french bc im really commited to it as I was pres of french all 4yrs
Because the Ivy League considers world language to be a core subject, so I don’t want to be week in that
But check that they have german as a course
Ok
But just take german and just chill
Ok
As long as I take 7-9 AP, I think I should be fine
Well damn good luck with that
Took ton of ap stem classes and I can deff said I age early
Lol
I will deff encouraged joining clubs that yk it can benefit u
And coders and stuff
Yup freshman year is gonna be a lot of clubs lol
If u wanna go extreme u can make a club
Yup I was thinking that for junior or senior year
Well i luv my french teacher and she kinda look up to me
lol
How much is it to start one?
Thank god we have a fashion design teachef
Should be free but theyre rules
Oh ok
Have a good amount of students who want to join
How many
Found a sponsor to pay for supplys
5-10??
I will said a good 5 active ppl
Creating a club is such a nice way to socialised
But now I think of it, I can just take a extra AP… colleges might not look at that as much
Just check your hs club list and see what u like
Already did
Idk if they let freshy take ap
Prob aphg
And principle
No they don’t
But theres comm college in summer
Oh well i did aphg
Deff have a nice freshman year
see if you can test out of german 2 or 3
my school lets people who want to take ap spanish senior year skip spanish two and take spanish three sophomore year
I wanna take AP English Literature, but I'm scared of failing
Thank god my school has ap lote 4th yr
Well
Not alot to work with
Do u like reading?
Yeah .-.
Yeah
Then google ap lit books
That can help you brain and read it during school or summer
I took span 2 in 8th grade
Hello I need help in choosing subjects for my A Levels.
Please help me out
I want to study psychology and continue it as a career. What subjects shall I choose with psychology?
I'm assuming you are in an educational system outside of the US, so I can't help much, but consider contacting your school's staff or counselor about it.
That's the problem .
I am giving private o levels
Like without school or any counselor
Oooooh ok
Just do other things that are in sciences.
Ig
I want to know what are the basic requirements needed for a psychology based degree. Like do I need to study social sciences or do Biology?
When in doubt, Google it out
Ok let me check
Got my answer thanks
I'll be taking psychology Maths Biology and sociology or humanities. Total of four subjects
ok?
I don't know if I should take AP Psychology, is it interesting and worth your time?
should i take GCSE ICT ? Is it difficult and will i find it engaging
I think that computer science is more reputable in comparison to ICT
(At least my teacher told me that)
He said that ICT is using software, while Com sci was more about problem solving and how the computers work, plus actual coding
Furthermore, to do Com Sci at A level, they want Com Sci GCSE and maths GCSE (sometimes they dont need the GCSE though)
You can look at the syllabus/specification of each course, but ICT seems a lot easier and duller in comparison to Com sci. It seems to consist of even more brain dead memorisation, so I font gunk you'll find it engaging either
Ok i will consider Com sci Thx
Yo should I take AP chem or AP bio. I’m thinking of doing both in junior year (going into 10th grade as of this moment). My school only allows juniors and seniors to take APs
Also would it be beneficial to try to skip AP calc bc so I can take the other math course that follows, “Mv calc and lin alg”. That way I can take AP statistics in senior year
I’m divided between engineering and business, I enjoy business a lot more, but engineering gives me more to do, which should I focus on? I already have Spanish 2 done and I’m an incoming freshman taking all AP classes as well as duel credit
That’s what I’m doing
I’m just taking the Calc bc exam next year (ab class) so I can take stats
that's what i did
Hey I have just a general question. I am planning on self studying for an AP exam this year because i already know it and it’ll be a free five. My question is what is the process of self studying for an exam? Do I have to register for a class on AP? Is there a certain time frame I need to do? I haven’t found anything helpful so far so I am at a loss.
Contact your local school AP coordinator
You can do an online class, however it is not necessary.
EdX and Coursera are free to help you.
I can't vouch for this, but someone sent me this and I believe it also is free. https://modernstates.org/course/
@mortal ibex
Note: these don't go on your transcript
they are simply aids for you
I will try to skip calc bc but its their decision; i.e. even if I’m able to succeed they can still say they don’t want me to skip
English literature, english language, maths and all science are compulsory, but you can choose for combined or triple science. I am doing music GCSE right now, I think if you enjoy learning music theory and composing songs, then you can give it a go!
Hope this helps ❤️
I won’t say so, but is good if you have some experience on the instrument(s) you play, because sometimes there are practical tasks
is this good for freshman
i need to know if im 'eligible' to get valedictorian
this probably does not correlate at all with valedictorian
yes this is good
What is your class rank?
well in order to be valedictorian you have to be class rank 1
i still have a lot to learn. im still on summer break so im not technically a freshmen yet
ah ok you will find out once school starts
well the higher the gpa, the higher your class rank
did you take hs credit classes in 8th?
The hell is this channel
I cant
y nott
can u mute him tho

Hey so i'm looking to pursue theatre all 4 years of high school and i do love theatre and have a knack for it. the problem is i cannot sing at all and i feel that will be a bad thing further down the road. finally, committing to it all 4 years of high school is pretty big so idk if i should
are you taking the highest level of the classes you are taking
ye
ye
they dont offer ap classes for freshmen so i guess i do
Oh at my school they offer AP human for freshmen
But my brother got to take ap classes as a freshmen but he was REALLY smart
even the people i know with close to 4.0 gpa dont have ap
then you’re good
You have to be so smart you're designated special needs by the state. Then you can sue when you're denied a class due to the rigor.
Is Capstone worth it? My school is one of the lucky ones to offer the AP program but I'm scared I'm gonna take AP Seminar and AP Research for no reason..
What is Capstone?
I never had a full understanding of it,
It's like an AP research program that gives you some understanding of how college researching and projects go. It's basically a year long assignment of creating a presentation on a topic that interests you and going deeper into that.
Hm.
It's apparently really good for people who wanna get into top universities but I'm not sure if I should do it lol
Does it count as an english class?
I don't think so?
Hm
I think its a separate AP class
you see the issue isnt about being denied ap classes, but the thing is that my brother was taking 11th-12th grade classes in 9th grade so there wasnt any reason why he couldnt take an ap class
at least thats my interpretation
a simple explanation could be that they just stopped letting freshmen take ap
Ah. I had to get designated special needs by the state to take a higher level class.
but there isnt any reason to do that
Schools just don't want underclassmen to overwhelm themselves.
bro what 💀
Yeah 💀
????
WHAT?
They said no, my mom got a lawyer and brought shit into it.. and they had to had a full on board vote to deny me getting into AP Biology and AP Lang.
thats wild 💀
Like this shit was litigated. But basically they ended up saying that AP Lang didn't cover the necessary skills to count as English 10 and that AP Biology was already full. So I took my college Biology course in a 4-week college semester (rn)
That's crazy..
And now the course catalog has a note saying that freshman and sophomores can taking AP English
Sophomores can take AP Bio now though.
So that's a win IG
Note: Programming II is Java and I’m actually doing AP Calc BC
im Canadian so dont trust me but from what i see that is pretty good !
This is amazing Sophomore year. Calc BC!
I’m a hard core nerd
let's go!!!
I’m trying to debate whether or not I would want to take ap music theory or join my schools jazz band
Any thoughts?
can u do both
No it’s really one or the other
I’m leaning towards jazz band though
Because it’s my freshman year so I want to at least try jazz band and if it is not the best then I will do music theory because I feel like it will help me out in the long one as a musician
can you take AP music theory in sophmore year? or do you have to take it now or never?
I think I will be able too
I’m not 100% sure because the director asked how people would feel about taking music theory
okay so
i would say if you're not very strong in the music area just take jazz band to build your skill and THEN take AP music theory. However if you feel that you wanna make a good career out of music and want to go to university for it, then i would say take the class personally
just because if universities see it on your transcript and you take the AP test for it and do well, then they'll see that you truly want to learn more about the certain topic
np!
Hi, is anyone here taking A-level History and Politics? I wanted to know what kind of skills is required. Thanks in advance ❤️
HOW ARE YOU TAKING BC CALC IN SOPHOMORE YEAR
wait after you take algebra two you can take calc rightv
I’m currently in yr 11 taking physics, biology, hospitality, English advanced and math advanced and extension 1.
I plan to additionally do math extension 2 and science extension in year 12 but after that I have no idea what to do at uni.
I know I want to go to uni and I know I have hospitality as a backup and potential way to make money during uni (I’m pretty good at cooking but I definitely don’t want it to be my permanent job).
I have spent time looking at courses available and I’m thinking I should choose Newcastle uni but with all their available course I have no idea which course I should aim for.
Anyone have any tips or recommendations?
Im a nerd..... Im also taking the SAT and ACT
no first its precalc. Then after that it depends on if your head of math will let you do AP Calc BC just straight from there or if you'll have to do AB first
Is it ok to take an ap science course freshman year beacus tahts what i was thinking of doing it this upcoming school year
which one?
Ap Physics?
the usual Freshman APs are like AP World and APHUG, but sometimes there are people who do things Like AP Physics
Im taking ap evirmental but i just finished the physics course on khan academy
so you're doing APES freshman year or AP Phys?
Here is what I would say: APES is a super easy AP class that you could probably do really well on. AP Physics one is really easy for those who have a mathematical sense to them and know what they are getting themselves into, but for a lot people the AP Physics 1 exam is really hard because it is their first AP and they did not prepare to the best of their ability. My advice. Just know what you're getting into and prepare to try and not get a 1 on the exam because 58% of people who took Physics 1 in 2022 failed the exam.
AP environmental is supposed to be really easy, my school only offers it senior year but it's supposed to be an easy A
I did AP bio freshman year
Ok
PALS instead of an AP class shouldn’t completely fuck me up right?
Are we allowed to curse in here? My bad don’t ban me
I don’t think it should, however maybe talk to someone a bit more experienced with these classes
I already take 5 AP’s Senior year
Technically 6 because Gov and Econ are half semester courses
I could take an AP Physics C or another AP Science but other than that I have no other AP option
What are the best AP classes to take online as a sophomore?
AP euro/AP world, AP CSP or AP CSA if you’re already advanced, AP Psych, APes (I’ve heard mixed things about this class though, so I’m not the best person to ask), and AP hug are generally sophomore year APs that people take
yeah ok so i'm planning to take ap world, ap csp, psych, and apes next year (sophomore yr)
but im taking those outside of school
is that too much??
like my school classes are world history, precalc honors, chem honors, world literature, intro to cs (but i already know cs), spanish 3, and maybe intro to business (if i get in)
so what are ur guys' experience with those ap classes??
i heard that ap csp is reallly similar to intro to cs at my school and i was planning to take ap world cuz im already doing world history at school
Choose CSA over CSP if you want a challenge, CSP is way too introductory if you already know CS
imma do csa at school in junior year just because i want the gpa creds for it D:
and cuz its the path of cs at my school
How hard is AP Euro compared to AP World History
AP euro goes significantly more in depth as it has a smaller time period and less countries to focus on, and from what I’ve heard, 80% of euro knowledge is used in world, so likely, a lot of it will be like review for you. However, it’ll probably just be in more detail. Overall, they’re about the same, but exam wise, more people got 5’s on euro than in world, but more people passed world than euro. In the end, if you’re willing to put in the work, you’ll be fine
AP Euro online could be a good preliminary class before a WHAP in person maybe
WHAP=World History AP
AP world is a piece of cake after euro
Can I dm a person whose taken a lot of aps my high school plan? I wanna see that my rigor is ok
What is your high school plan?
Can I dm you?
go for it
Ok
I did
I’ll take a DM too
I’m taking 15 total throughout high school
damn
Sure
Not letting me dm you; accept request maybe?
Just did
should i keep 2 spares in senior year?
I'm taking 2 aps which is all my school offers besides the 3 sciences.
Not taking any of the sciences and only took physics in junior year. Don't really need them i'm a business major
took 2 senior courses a year yearly
is my course rigor fine for the top unis?
I would try taking a few more online if you're not interested in the science ones and want to go to top unis
Was planning on self studying the economics ap tests
I could also take another business course and give up a spare
Hmm, they’re often considered a semester each, but perhaps that could be ok
do you guys think it would be too hard to enroll in Multivariable Calculus, AP Physics C, and AP Stats at the same time in senior year
that's like 3 math classes
What’s your relationship with math?
Would you wanna do it for funsies?
yes
Wouldn’t be a huge deal if I drop two classes second semester right?
To be clear, the classes are Sports Marketing and Dollars and Sense, I had to choose two random half elective classes after football
I'm doing full time dual enrollment this coming year and I was wondering how that affects my GPA if I get a B or a C? I'm always going to work my hardest to keep straight A's but college is going to be a little more difficult so I'm a little worried. I have a 4.04 GPA and I dont want to go lower than that.
I really want to take both AP chem and AP bio before I graduate HS because I intend on applying to international med schools and almost all require chem and most want bio. Issue being im about to go into jr and I’m registered to take anatomy and physiology at my local community college (yay!). The class is after school hours which means I will have an open period… part of me is like “just take AP bio and anatomy at the same time!” But I have a feeling that would be basically impossible to keep up with. Especially hearing how evil AP Bio is
What do you guys think?
Omg hey!!
AP bio honestly doesn’t seem that bad 😅 perhaps you could try it out, and if it’s not working, drop AP bio within the first two weeks?
I personally have ecs after school, so I’m doing AP bio and AP chem instead next year
Ap bio is truly not too bad
I already took it and hope to take ap Chem next year
Heyyy
Really? How did you do on the exam
A higher 3 I didn't study as hard as I should have
If you prepare well you can get a four on it
Yeah I really want a 5 but like… no one gets a 5
Im just worried it would be too much
My current courses are
APUSH
Pre Calc
AP Lang
Wind ensemble (advanced band)
Female weights (semester long PE)
Animation (semester long elective)
Anatomy @ community college (after school, 2 days a week)
Im doing that senior year
Are you still in high school
Yes
What grade?
About to be in 11th/jr year
I took AP bio as a freshman and for me it was not too nad
I just don’t wanna kill myself too much with school haha
It depends on the college you are going in to. In California, UC waits Community College Classes, so a B would be a 4. However, if I transferred out of state, I might not be as lucky.
Like I know jr year WILL be stressful but I don’t want to go too far. Also my schools AP bio teacher has a reputation of being very strict and having impossible expectations with HW
And my APUSH teacher is known to have super hard tests and lots of HW
Well then don't stress yourself
Idk 😭
I only care about taking AP bio bc of international schools
Yeah well I mean if you want to achieve then take it
I can’t decide between APWH and AP Human Geo
Can y’all lemme know which one is easier. (History is by far my hardest subject)
I was told by my counselor that you need to take college level biology in order to take college anatomy
Whelp
I was gonna do the same thing but I can't. I'm going to do college level biology during the second semester and take anatomy first semester of senior year (next year)
Ok
I signed up for World History, cause I thought it would be better but I heard the AP exam is Insanely hard
Yeah that's what all of my friends said
Maybe you could take AP chem instead then?
Your jr year
AP chem doesn’t look too bad either
AP human geo by far is easier, but AP wh will prep you better if you take apush or AP Euro
AP euro though >>>
Best prep for apush in my opinion
I heard it was pretty easy this year
You do (at my school), but some counselors let things slide
That doesn’t look too bad - precalc is super super easy, and I don’t think your electives will be hard either, so anatomy, apush, and AP lang will probably be the hardest. Have you already taken regular anatomy and regular bio?
Is it really that bad?
Oh nice
I already have a few
I think 3
Oh
How much math is it?
Oh bet
That’s awesome
So not much math?
Oh yikes
Hey I’m good then
I like algebra
Algebra is goated
We don’t have regular anatomy, and yes I took normal bio freshman year
Lol “precalc is super easy” i have never ended a semester with an A in a math class and that’s my goal this year… not sure how easy that’ll be
Ah, I’m not sure it would be the best option to take then, but up to you
How did you feel about algebra 2 and trig?
Basic trig is fine, algebra 2 is… ehh
AP bio or anatomy?
Oh…you will probably struggle then
Anatomy
In precalc?
Maybe you could take it senior year after AP bio?
Yes
I have to take it soo
Precalc is 50% algebra 2, 50% trig but like advanced trig
Why?
Only option
How so?
I haven’t done “advanced trig” yet
My schools math track
It requires algebra
I took a combined algebra 2/geo class and the only next step is precalc
I meant anatomy
Im okay at some parts, bad at others haha
I meant that it would probably help to wait until senior year for anatomy
I cant because there’s a cool class that requires anatomy as a prerec
Exponentials, logs, basic properties, transformations, reflections of functions, manipulating equations, etc. are some of the topics
Well, I would skip on AP bio then
Idk what a transformation is lmao
Though it would likely be more helpful to take AP bio
You’ll learn
The only reason I want to take it is because I want to apply to international unis
Though it would likely be more helpful to take AP bio
Up to you, but I wouldn’t take both in your circumstances
Fair, ahhh its so hard
Think about what’s going to give you the most options
I wish I wasn’t so stupid at math hahah
That’s what I would do
Well, if you’re going into bio, gl
AP bio is the more “logical” choice but anatomy is what interests me way more
Im somehow better at math for science classes then math for actual math
What is the cool class you were talking about though?
Because you may want to just skip on it or take anatomy over the summer
I meant for Calc
Or stats, but some schools want Calc only
Biomedical foundations
Do you think it’s worth it?
I cant really take it over the summer
Listen idk man
Is it not offered?
It is, but I have to take 2 terms for it to count as one credit of science at my HS
Or what about AP bio and AP chem senior year?
Ohh ok
Do you need the credit?
Bro why would I do that
Or can you take it over the summer to get the prerequisite out of the way
So you can get them both done
I cant take it this summer
I cant take it this summer
Ok
It sounds like you should make a choice then
Another thing that complicates things slightly is that I’m applying for an exchange program and may be gone my senior year lol
Ye, how much do I want to academically suffer and when
Um
Idk about that one
But your choice
What do you mean?
Also yes, credits generally transfer
Yeah, I personally would go for AP bio to gain a good foundation, and then take anatomy senior year if I want credit, and just take biomedical foundations in college
Yeah jr is the best time
Ah ok
I cant pass up 10 months in another country for little cost
(Especially since its a country im considering studying in)
If that’s what you want
You wouldn’t be able to take the biomedical class then, correct?
No, but its worth it for me
Then you should probably take AP bio
I think it would be the safest bet
I know you are looking at this from a purely analytical perspective, but I’ve been wanting to go on this program since 2020
Because you can also take anatomy in college
Yeah, I realize that you’d likely go for it, so you should
Just make sure that the sacrifices you’re making rn aren’t going to hurt you next year
Yeah, def would be sacrificing things
Academically and personally
But cant pass it up
I meant the sacrifices this year
But next year too
if i want to pursue computer science in college and i take the ap cs a exam and get a 5 in my sophomore year, will they care if i dont take cs classes in high school? the classes offered at my school are really basic
You can always take classes outside of school
because i've heard they like it when you take classes related to your passion, but i feel like it'd be better for me to fill those spaces with classes i could learn from
😭this is hard lol
Like at colleges or online
but they won't go on the transcript unless it's from my school board afaik
isn't that important?
instead of it just being an ec
How so
You can always put it under academics and awards
i already have a lot of cs ec involvement
oh yeah true
I may only have 5 classes lined up for this year
Worst case: 5 or 7
Best case: 6
Ahh
Yeah, if you don’t think it’s worth the time, I would focus on taking them elsewhere
Yeah a bunch of teachers left and summer plans fell through
Oh dang
do you think i would benefit from rushing and doing the ap cs a test my sophomore year?
i've got the skills down
i got a good mark on the practice test
or should i find another school that offers the class
and just do the test along with the class instead of self-studying
Yup it’s hard
Do you think you’re prepared?
Scheduling is HARD sometimes
If you think you need it
yeah, i mean i've never done an ap exam before, but i got a good grade on the barron's practice
I had my schedule before school ended 💀 but then my teachers messed it up
Ooof
Are you self studying the whole year?
Or at least part
wdym?
Yeah so now only 5 are confirmed
the entire class, yeah
Yes
Like you’re not just going to walk into the exam without studying
lol yeah
i mean i did a practice test, identified what i did wrong... going to review the stuff i got wrong
Yeah then you will be fine
Yeah just do that until May 2023 and you’ll be fine
i dont want to take the class because i need someone to teach me, i've just heard it's good to take classes that show your interest for a subject
Dang :/
so would taking the test be enough?
It’s self studiable Fs
to show i have senior-level (?) cs knowledge
Yup 😭
It’s not senior level, but yeah, you can just self study and take the exam
oh wait i forgot to mention, i'm from canada
taking the exam != getting the class credit
it's weird
because it's like that in the states, right?
i have no clue actually, this stuff is so confusing 😭 😭
Ohh cool
You get college credit if you pass the exam, but you don’t get high school credit at my school
is it junior for u?
for us csp is junior, csa is senior
No, it doesn't really have a level
o
No
People can take it whenever
I took CSP as a sophomore
yeah, i mean the relative class at my school
you can take it whenever ig
but it's listed at a certain grade
Not to colleges
People take CSa in 9th
Or CSP in 9th
My CSP class had people in grades 9-12
oh ic
Did any of you guys take ASL as your language choice? Do you recommend it? I heard some colleges don’t even recognize it as a language
Our community college offers it and some kids at my school take 2 semester for their 2 years requirement
For UCs
UCs recognize it, i am pretty sure a lot of colleges have as well.
hii im confused whether i should take ap lit next year or just world literature at my skl (world lit is a regular courses, not ap or honor), (im a rising sr btw) can you help me decide pls? thanks!!
Holaaa, do you have any other APs you are taking?
hola, im taking ap physics 2, ap spanish lang, and ap stats next year (1 yr courses) and ap macro in semester 2 (spring semester)
Oke, I am also a rising senior and I personally decided not to take ap lit as from what I’ve heard it’s generally a tough class and the test is hard
Kinda depends on what you want, are you still trying to really challenge yourself this year or not so much
The English class I’m taking is sci fi literature, so kinda like the class you mentioned
if you've already taken AP Lang, it isn't necessary to take AP Lit
Usually colleges only accept 1 if any (placement only at some colleges)
yes i took ap lang in my jr year but i’m just unsure if taking ap lit as well will give me a small edge or not since it’ll be another ap as well to show to colleges
either way tho im stuck with literature as my english class next year, just unsure of which one to take
GPA weight 🤷♂️
is ap lit or dual enrollment english 102 better
if you plan on attending an in state public college, dual enrollment
if not, ap lit
How many AP classes can I take in my senior year? For 12th grade I'm choosing AP chem, AP Gov, AP Computer Science A. I heard that AP chem was hard. But I want my major to be neuroscience.
I will always praise dual enrollment (so long as the college(s) you apply for accept the dual enrollment classes
Huh?
What kind of schools do you think you’ll apply to?
Ap Lit
Now I’m scared. I’m actually good at English 😭.
I’ll prepare myself for it. Thanks tho lol.
🧍🏽♀️. Some tips please?
I knew it
I’m scared
About?
My courses this year
I’m risking it (hopefully for the biscuit)
Sometimes you gotta do that. I’m taking 3 college classes which is a good risk because if I do poorly, it can rank my chances of going to college. Sometimes you just have to be willing to take a few risks
Got it
I’m just scared this year
Since this year opened up so much new classes
Which I took advantage of for the potential GPA boost
But I’m scared of the difficulty compared to this past school year
Well, as long as you take everything seriously, everything should be fine
Dang I see why you’re nervous
Just put some elbow grease into it and you’ll be fine
I’m taking AP Chem but it’s the teacher sets it up as self pace which I think is going to be a major help for me
That’s nice, I don’t know a whole lot about AP Chem at my school and the teacher here
I wish I did though
precalc honors isn't bad
But I know it’s the hardest science class my school has iirc (we also have AP physics classes too, but apparently this is harder in difficulty)
AP Chem is a decent amount of math too
AP Physics is A LOt of math
Got it, I just hate the Unit Circle and Trig
Your second semester will not be fun
Unit circle is actually pretty nice though
If you're better at math, I would take AP Physics instead tbh
We do have AP Calc AB and BC, but I’ve heard that this is harder
A lot of people say that precalc is harder yeah
I can’t, I took AP Bio last year and I have to do AP Chem or normal Chem this year. I chose AP Chem
I didn't find it difficult
Interesting
Have you taken chem at all?
No Chem experience whatsoever besides basic biochem from Honors and AP Bio
Just so that you don't struggle even more
Yeah no
I would learn the basics
Conversions, dimensional analysis, sig figs
Like the foundation
Yeah I would start even more basic
Liters
Like go through a chemistry course
Oh… well that’s a huge chunk of the summer assignment
A basic one
Got it
Yeah, because they teach you that in regular chem
Just a lot later in th eyear
Yeah for things like molarity and stuff, it helps to understand chemical equations, and for that, you need to know bonding, and for bonding you need to know electron stuff, etc.
It builds upon itself quite a bit
Gotcha
Ofc!
yup
Exactly
👍
?
Tbh it’s not very worth the time
Could easily be done over the summer
Damn they don’t let us skip anything
They make no exceptions lol
Hey so you’re taking AP precalc early 💀
Lol
What type of programming pays the most?
all kinds hehe like mit, stanford, ivies, purdue, ut, nyu and some safety ones too
i still have to get the logistics down tho, like the actual skls ill apply to which im gonna narrow down by next week
I have a question about AP calculus BC if anyone here can help😅 it’s not a math problem. I just want to know if I should study anything before I start the class because I only took regular pre-cal last year (I’m normally in the more advanced classes, I just didn’t have any room in my schedule)
Sorry I didn’t mean to cut your convo off 😅
alrighty those are some awesome schools. if you realllly want to take ap lit and can handle it then go for it. I just dont really see it as giving you much of and advantage in admissions. Plus if you already took ap lang and passed the test, many schools give the same english credit for ap lang as they do ap lit, so taking ap lit for credit is redundant as ap lang already gives you the same credit. but this do be my opinion lol
ur all good lol 🙂
i alr had some calc knowledge from before (differentiation and limits etc) but i did some basics on khan academy to get ready for the class as the teacher at my skl grades tests kinda hard but i dont think it’s necessary unless you want to get ready
ig if you have time you could do some prep beforehand
ok thanks!!
deeeeeeeee nadaaaaa
Thank you!!! I normally enjoy math class💀 I just get nervous bc I don’t want to drop the class
i also have a question. anyone have suggestions on the amount of ap classes to take senior year without stressing out too much? lol
I am signed up for ap spanish, ap enviornmental science, and ap gov/microeconomics
i think 4-5 is like high enough hahhaa, i took 6 in my jr year (ap lang, ap calc bc, ap physics 1, ap chem, ap psych and ap csa) and it was tough lol so im assuming slightly less than 6 is good enough for me, but it also depends on what the aps are too soo
hey guys! im from vancouver canada and we have the choice to take a program called IB and im not sure if i should take it.Its significantly harder than standard courses and alot of your time for other things gets lost but it help you get prepped for uni and puts you a year ahead
i was wondering if anybody was going through the same tough choice and if we could discuss the diff reasons and such
I’m in the US and I also have the opportunity to take IB I talked to people who have graduated and people who are in it currently and Ik every school is different but from what I’ve heard about the school I’m going to, you get a bit more hw but 2 days to complete it instead of 1 because it alternates the schedule, you get 1 1/2 with each subject everyday so only 4 classes a day ( and a second day of the alternating 4) If you were looking to take more advanced classes in regular hs it seems like the ib hs is the same as honors/ap stuff and you can take the ap tests without taking the class if you are worried about ib not being as recognized. And I think another difference that would probably not just be for my school is that you have to have a language class and band choir or art for electives. Ever school is different but from what I’ve heard about the one I will go to in fall it would def be worth it for me :))
thanks for the thoughts and im pretty sure theres also cas hours,a 4000 word extended essay as well as a theory of knowledge essay
so its alot of things combined towards the graduation to recieve your diploma
i am super glad its worth it for you tho
thats where i am having trouble and im going to try to decide based off my performance next year because i still have a year time to decide
I got my schedule, and I was told that I could switch it around if I wanted to. But idk if i should leave it as is or if I should kinda switch it around. What I wanted to do is move up bio to semester 1 and move psychology to semester 2 any tips ?
hi! i'm a student from the ph and similiar to @hidden axle 's questions, we have an IB programme option (tho you need to apply for it). I was just wondering, will an IB diploma give you a sort of boost or an advantage to other students? Or can it give you like better chances for your target unis especially if you excel at it?
Just not quite sure if I'll apply for it or just continue in my normal high school. Thanks!
Has anyone taken AP seminar here before?
I’m not entirely sure but I think it is similar to taking all ap classes your whole hs which is quite commendable
Hey y'all my school offers Spanish as a language to learn for high school credits. I have no experience with Spanish whatsoever so should I take the class? PS Its gonna go on my high school transcript
If you want to go to college then you'll have to have at least 2 years of a foreign language
In high school at least
^
Ok thanks
Your welcome
Should I take ap human geo in 9th grade if I’m already taking all advanced classes expect history?
I'd say you should probably only do it if you think it synergizes with what you want to do in college overwise I'd say no just to keep your daily work load more manageable
only take an ap class if you're actually interested in the subject
Ok thanks
good GPA weight, but would recommend filling it with an elective or LOTE as the AP Test doesn't give credit at most colleges and it isn't the most rigorous AP Class.
So currently, I'm taking accelerated geometry for the summer. Recently I've been given an option to stay the route and take the final exam to pass accelerated geometry and head into Algebra 2 (Btw I get a study guide or a cheat sheet if you will). But I've also been given an option to take the exam for Algebra 2/Trig, meaning I have to take 2 exams. However, I don't get a study guide or cheat sheet for the Algebra 2/Trig exam. I only have around 2-3 weeks left and I'm not even fully ready for the geometry exam. Plus my hands are tied because I have basketball summer camp, piano class, and guitar class. So currently I'm thinking of staying the route and going into Algebra 2 but I need some more opinions on this please.
I had that option too but since I'm not rlly interested in human geo I would rather take world history haha
As good as taking ap classes early in hs sounds I don't want it to negatively impact my transcript
I got an unofficial transcriot of my senior schedule back and im not happy :(
I didnt get into ap psych which i was relaly psyched about jor creative writing
hmmmm
As a rising senior, who took the class as a freshman I personally recommend even if you dont pass the ap tests it will significantly boosr your GPA
I think this is the best route for you too, I too speed through geometry, alg 2, and precancerous my freshman year
I didn't take ap calculus bc but did take ap calculus ab sophomore year and took calculus 2 and 3 junior year so I would recommend studying just a bit or at least get an overview of the material. Some of the material is a bit confusing. Idk if ap calc bc goes into vector calc but that's a bit confusing and would study if you do
I'm taking DC classes and taking Differential equations fall semester any ideas? Opinions?
Thank you!!
What grade are you in?
Same, junior yr took 9 DC classes 2 AP, senior yr will be taking 4 DC classes a semester. What classes are u taking
Don't be too worried, I know it sounds daunting but it's so rewarding after you finish
These along with 2 online college courses
Nice. Are you going to be a junior?
Yep
Gotcha love spanish class yas!!
It's one of my DC classes next year so I very much enjoy it
Deciding if I should take AP Bio and anatomy and physiology at the same time….
Would it be a good idea to take AP Physics C and AP Physics 2 at the same time?
I took ap bio 10th grade and it wasn't too bad a lot of repeat content I would say but more in depth and anatomy and physiology at my school at least is memorization based. A friend of mine did that and she was fine. It's a lot of work but it's still manageable
Hmm okay. My AP Bio teacher has a reputation of giving a ton of homework
And the anatomy class is at my local community college
Anatomy is DC at our school, and I would say our ap bio teach didn't do too much homework bc it was very lab based
Ah okay
Thanks!
What is DC?
Dual credit
My counselor will probably try to talk me out of if haha
Oh ok
Totally honest my counselor tried to talk me out of so many classes but here I am taking all these DC classes junior and senior year
Just hold your ground
AP computer science or pre-calc. Taking geometry and pre calc can set me up for AP calc. But I have done Java before for robotics and generally. So AP computer science seems like a 2nd AP credit behind APUSH
what kind of career path are you going for?
Hello, I will be joining high school (but in the us system i am a sophomore) next year too, but I don't know where to get started and how to apply for scholarships? What do I need to focus on to be able to study abroad? What could help me with a business management career? and should I study business management or does anyone have any suggestions thank you in advance
Some kind of engineering I haven’t decided yet
I will lol. Just praying to don’t kill myself too much jr year
Yeah I originally wanted to take DC intro chinese, DC intermediate Spanish, Calc 3, AP Stats, APUSH, APLC, and AP Chem. But I knew that's too much seeing as ap tests and finals were the same week and I had at least 1 test a day up to 3. So I decided to drop aplc and ap Chem. Good to know your limits
I’m not so sure that it will be rewarding (screwing up finals, AP tests)… and more than that, I’m more scared of taking these classes every day
Is APLC AP English Lang and Comp?
Ap tests, i took ap human geo my freshman yr during covid, got a 2. Honestly I knew my priorities this year and studied for finals instead of ap test because finals affected my college transcript and ap tests did not. My ap scores reflected this negligence to studying
Yes
Then I’m doomed
I’m taking that and AP Chem
Plus other AP and Honors classes
What are you taking
AP Chem
AP Lang
AP Seminar
APUSH
Spanish 3 Honors
PreCalc Honors
Honors Jazz Ensemble
Plus 2 other classes
What’s DC?
Dual credit
I'm gonna give my honest opinion
So most friends I had took APLC, APush, apchem, spanish 3 (we don't have spanish honors)
Some other classes they took in addition to that were apcalc or honors precalc
My fine arts friend was in chamber choir in addition to that so a wide variety of classes
But anyways they seemed to be doing fine in all classes
Bruh
No way
I’m also taking Theology (mandated class) and Honors Marching Band
I’ll be dead
Yeah most were at school from 6:30am to 9pm
Yeah my schedule will be (if I include AP bio)
AP Lang
APUSH
Precalc (DC)
AP Bio
Anatomy and physiology (DC)
Wind ensemble
Animation (semester long)
Female weight training (semester long)
For extracurriculars
Ok so that honestly would have been my schedule with calc 3, intermediate Spanish. And intro chinese instead of your math class, fine arts and ap seminar
I think that's a pretty normal schedule for someone who has been in honors since elementary or middle school
Yup, similar for me
You talking about me?
Good luck on AP Bio lol
I took AP Bio and AP CSP this past year
Yeah 😭 I’ve heard bad things
How bad is it?
What grade are you in
:/
Going into jr year
I loved ap bio my sophomore yr
The content is so much fun, labs are hard but fun. Tests are ridiculously hard, AP tests are easier than finals. I got a 5 on it
Sameeeee
Idk it was a blast
Except the tests
im taking ap bio this coming school year too
The content is fun? Yay!
Im scared for those tests lol
any like advice on studying for the tests??
Apparently my teacher gives a ton of HW
^
60 AP problems in 55 minutes
Lovely
Start FRQs before MCQs
On the tests
Based on the grade u r going in I would say that's a manageable schedule with any extracurriculars you want to add
ohhhh
But for studying, read your lectures, assignments, quizzes, reading guides, etc. Do AP classroom. Assignments
Honestly my schools club options suck so it would just be working after school a few days a week
?? They are separated are they not?
@olive stirrup
My teacher gave all of them to us at once
thank you!!
Still shows that you have another involvement
MCQs were first in order, but I started with FRQs at the back first
And any band stuff I need to do (playing at games, concerts, festivals)
I’m in a couple bands too
I mean in the actual test though
Which instrument do you play?
Nice
AP exam?
Yea
Alto and Bari Sax, neckstrap gang 💪
On that, no. But I meant on unit tests
Eyy
I personally don't play instruments, I'm not musically gifted 😂
Also, f the trumpets gang 💪
Yes our teacher did the same thing. I also did that
Im not either, I’ve just been playing since 6th grade lol
What do u think of my schedule senior yr..
Fall semester:
Intermediate Chinese 1, Intermediate Spanish 1, Differential equations, Accelerated Chem at a local university (ap Chem in a semester)
Spring: Intermediate Chinese 2, advanced Spanish 1, linear alg, calc based physics
Not super related, buy you seem like your good at math lol. Any advice for precalc?
I need some advice too for PreCalc Honors lol
Um I took that freshman year in a quarter during covid so my experience was interesting for precancerous
I hate the unit circle and trig
Math is hard for me, the highest grade I’ve ever ended a semester in math with was a B+ so…
Screw radians!
Guys if ya ever need any help hit me up and I'll help the best I can
Okay, thanks!
Yes please, thank you!!
It isn't my strong point but I can do it
Facts
Trig and Geometry are my nightmare
Im decent at geo
I'm better at algebra, and calc
Algebra 2 Honors was easier than Alg1 and Honors Geo for me
Pretty bad at algebra tbh lol
Algebra is my strong suit
I took a geo/alg II class sophomore year
To be fair precalc is not really similar to calc
That’s what I’ve heard, it’s harder
Nice do you have a work at your own pace
Precalc is harder?
Idk how it will be, don’t know the teachers yet
Than AP Calc AB and BC
Sad that i cant get past AP Calc AB 😭
At least PreCalc honors
Since I’ll be taking it as a senior
True 100%
Anyone else scared for next year?
alg 2 honors
pe
honors english 9
honors bio
mandarin honors
modern world history honors
I just know its going to suck haha
Yeah we have a program were we basically seld study by watching videos our teachers made
I was going to do PreCalc over this summer, do AB this fall, and BC senior year. But I decided to do summer programs this summer so I’m doing PreCalc Honors this fall, and AB (maybe BC simultaneously) senior year
Nice
I see
Omg you could totally help me with my awful understanding of mandarin sentence structures lol
1000% all of us juniors are scared
Ya know what’s stupid, my school only has honours English. So for subjects like physics, chem, bio, etc. You can only take normal or AP
no bro rtust im so bad at mand😭
Same here
Yep! We gonna die!!! Also SAT/ACT
i just did it in 8th so now i cant just give it up😭
Yeah junior year was actually one of the beat years
Well for some of those
Mhmm
I actually loved it it was so chill.... besides finals and ap test week combined but that's only 1 week
I gotta know, what do you (realistically) hope to get on that test
Yeah, not necessarily for acidemics because I have at least 1 year before they get harder, but I didn’t really have the best relationships with other students so I’m worried about being picked on again
Well we can help each other. Simplified or traditional?
My classes were alright though
Ah that makes sense. Good luck
But I skipped my 1st sem finals
I got Covid during mine lmao
That's buzzard
Because I got bonked 10 minutes before my first one
simplified
i might drop tho and take french
I managed to get Covid during my semester and end of the year finals… how? I have 0 clue lmao
Aka concussion
Lol
A freshman dropped their hydroflask on my head from the floor above at 8am when I was standing outside my English final classroom
Any of you taking the psat??
Lmaooo
I should
Getting the stitches out was the worst pain I’ve ever faced
No way. I don't like that rule. I took it bc I wanted to
Never experienced it
Me neither
And I developed focus issues and migraines
Damn that sucks
Thank God marching season finished the previous month (previous month to the final)
😂
Oh yeah
Thanks. Good luck with this school year too
So many of my friends are in marching band and they have this love hate relationship with it
Thank you
Ngl sorta same
I gotta go back to work :/ Byee
Nah
I love parades. I love pep rallies/football gigs. I hate field shows.
Yep
Yeah thats not a thing at my school so I was like screw it my sophomore yr and was like spanish 2 is so easy and self studied Spanish 3 in 3 weeks took a final got a 95% and then self studied Spanish for in 2 and got a 98%
You can self study classes and take finals for them?
I thought self studying was only for AP tests
So for math, science and English we work at our own pace and can finish early and move on to the next grade
But for languages it is supposed to be a class communication thing
I wish my school had that
But we literally spent 2 weeks on demonstrative
I mean come on it isn't that hard to learn this, that, these, those
Lol
But then again memorizing conjugations and grammar came very easily for me I could learn it after a 10 min video
What languages do you have at your school
Ahh, that’s easy for me too, but in a different way. I couldn’t understand it in class, videos didn’t help. I used Spanishdict on the homework and got confident with that, and tried problems on my own until I felt confident for a quiz
^^ conjugations
hola peeps what up
French, Spanish, and Latin
Aloha
You offer french ! Omg I would be tripling up on languages lol
are yall talking ab what language to take?
No, just languages offered
But you can only do 1 for all 4 years
BRUV
That’s so cool
My school doesn’t have that
My school offers asl as a language
yea haha the other languages we have are french, italian, and spanish, but japanese is the most intersting
Mandarín is dual credit through a college online
ASL sounds so fun though
asl??? that is dope
That explains it, we don’t have dual enrollment
Cool
I don't like that rule
We offer German and Spanish
I wanna do German too 😭
German sounds fun
Do u offer ap languages
Guten morgen
Just French and Spanish APs
For foreign language
my school is just ap spanish
We don't have any. Ap spanish is coming after I graduate. I would have taken it but I decided DC would be better than waiting till graduation
Yes and no
