that schedule’s pretty good! i took ap lang and physics this yr and they’re both pretty straight forward and as long as u pay attention in class u should be good
the minimum is 2 yrs for most colleges so if u stop now it shouldn’t be too much of an issue, but if u have space in ur schedule i’d say continue spanish
how do i not sleep in class.
Don’t show up to class
Then u can sleep somewhere else
….\
Ur welcome ☺️
4 years of foreign language is more important then an extra AP
ok ty
I might try to test out of Spanish IV and go to AP Spanish a year early and then take another ap class but I'll see how Spanish II and III go first
Good advice
Did anyone take French 3
What is french 3? I live in France so I don’t know what it is so
for my school i don't know if it's the same, but it's like different levels of learning. in my district, you start in 8th grade and can end taking languages in 12th, so every grade it's a different level. so like 8th = spanish/french 1, 9th = spanish/french 2, etc.
Ah so 10th grade is french 3
Do the work would be hard then
Cause I have been in France 3 years and I am b1
So*
when you take a foreign language every year you take it you move up a year. So the first year of french would be French I, second year would be French II, etc.
at my school you can choose when to start foreign language as long as you end up getting 2 years of foreign language by the time you graduate. You can start as early as 7th grade and get high school credit or start as late as 11th grade
i was trying to set the example for my district, and i figured yours was different
Yeah I know, I was just saying what mine was like.
ah alright
What do they look for when deciding valedictorian? I want to become one, but I currently am 145/600 as class rank, so i have a ways to go, and for that, i need tips?. So any tips?
how-
My school considers anyone with a 4.0 unweighted a valedictorian and a person with 1 B throughout their 4 years a Salutatorian.
but the person must have not taken any courses pass/fail.
So a lot of the people have taken the easiest, least rigorous courses, and become valedictorians.
any good resources for self-studying apes?
EdX and Coursera were helpful. Also Khan Academy has great resources i've heard.
ill take a look tysm :)
Idk if this is the right place for it, but i just wanna hear anyones opinion on maths methods and physics, like ant struggles or stuff i would need to know because i wanna do electrical engineering
at least in my schools it’s the person with the highest unweighted gpa
Okay, but wouldn't a lot of people have a gpa of 4 if it is unweighted
Thanks for the info
we don’t have a lot of ap ib and dc classes so only the top people take them so it lowers the pool
Okay
I am trying to take a lot of AP classes so I get higher in weighted gpa if that is what my school does cause my school offers a decent amount of ap courses
Do colleges care about the number of AP classes/tests you take or how relevant they are to subjects you like?
they show rigor, however taking too many can discourage a college from accepting you. Colleges don’t want you if you spend your time taking 22 APs rather they’d want you to take 5 and stay involved in extra curriculars and your community.
Now there are some people who can be apart of 7 extra curriculars and take 22 APs plus DE classes… but those people are special
there’s not a certain number they expect u to take, but they’d like u to take as many as u can handle to demonstrate ur taking a rigorous course load. and, ideally, u want many/most to be in ur field of interest, giving u experience in the subject matter.
however, don’t take to many to the point where u do poorly in those classes. although colleges want u to excel, they care more about ur grades in the class. so take ones u know ur interested in bc it’ll be less painful and will be easier to get high grades in
idk most my friends only took 8-9 and they got into ivys
idt aps rly matter up to a certian extent
8-9 exams or classes?
also do self-studying for APs help with college admissions?
yes and no
but if youre studying random ap no
The help get credit for classes you don't want to take
depending on the college/uni ofc
if you can handle than and still participate in other activities like Key Club or Debate team that yes.
I am taking 7 APs, 14 HSE Classes, 5 Honors Classes, while participating in my schools top band and top choir as well as marching band, key club, Math Team, Varsity Mock Trial, 1-2 years of soccer (still deciding on my second year), and honor choral ensemble through out my state an country. I also own and run a small news organization. (2 people run it)
That maximizes my time to the amount I can handle, and believe it or not, that's not the most packed schedule. I have a friend taking 14 APs and 15 HSE Classes as well as 6 Honors Classes, and doing all of that. Rugby instead of soccer and Honor band instead of choir.
it just depends on how much you can handle and how much sleep you can thrive off of. I can function off of 4 hours of sleep because of genetics, some people have genetics that have them need 10 hours. Luck of the draw there. However, you don't need to be excessive to get into a good school. You can be successful taking a few aps and focusing on what you really love. Maybe also maintaining a social life.
Self studying is helpful if your school/local college doesn't offer HSE oppertunities (high school enrichment, basically dual credit classes but you only get college credit). You can self study BC with AB or APES with Bio or something like that. Or if you can, self study classes alone (I self studied AP Micro freshman year) though I used a program through EdX.
I plan on going to an in-state college, and not an Ivy League. Mainly because of the fact that I am white so my chances of getting into a good school are extremely low, but also Ivy League isn't for me. If Ivy is for you, you might find a different path more appropriate (like Gohar) but Ivy's don't necessarily give the best information.
What was Gohar's path?
Also what are HSE classes?
And do you manage to still get straight A's even with all that workload?
(just wondering)
I was wondering if my current transcript matches that of a student aspiring to major in software engineering?
Please DM me if you can provide me with some insight
send it
it also depends on the courses your school offer
I have a 3.9 unweighted lol. However, its manageable when you have no friends lmao. HSE Classes are High School Enrichment Classes, which are classes you take at the college without receiving dual credit. My school doesn't accept dual credit from anywhere and a lot of the time doesn't even accept credits from another high school. Gohar worked hard to get into several Ivy Leagues, that was his goal.
Straight A's ended my first semester of Freshman year lol
By the end of hs Im scheduled to take 12 aps all mandatory 😭 my school does 8 periods so that’s probs why
Valid
I tried taking 8
8 classes not worth 😭
my counselor didnt like that idea since im only supposed to take 4 with my HSE classes
Unless it’s de
yeah
DE hella easy I took 2 last semester , and taking a class rn
Dam
how many ap classes shousl i take junior year?
2-4
3-4, depends on difficulty of the course(s), also junior year is crazy so like beware
What r your goals wirh aps, is it for gpa boost or like if colleges will care about the aps
A little of both
If it’s for gpa then tailor ur schedule to meet ur goal gpa taking 2 aps in freshman year definitely helps, if it’s for college and the ap is like geo or envi sci colleges might not care as much bc those r apes a lot of freshies take also depending on the college u want to go to the school might not even accept the ap exam credit for passing
What aps do U recommend for college?
40% of Harvard students r white so liek u wouldn’t be rejected for being white so liek dw ur course load is literally insane
Research and seminar, chemistry, calc ab or bc (let’s pretend that the ap exam didn’t exist 😭), ap physics, ap lit, and any ap language that you aren’t native to ( those r all the aps I can remember rn that I think r useful)
But mostly these are sciences so depending on what you want to major in regardless of “ap rigor” try to get classes that show that you are interested in said Major
For example if I want to major in computer science If my school offers it I would take ap comp sci and stats and things like that, if my school doesn’t offer it I’d join a computer science related club or do side projects
What aps are good if I wanna go into the medical field?
Ap chem and bio for sure, research and seminar , any ap language like before
Since med field is a science it kinda still applies
Thx for ur help!
Npp!!
I took Algebra, Geometry, and Spanish 1 in middle school, how will those classes look on my transcipt, and what effect will they have on my overall highschool gpa?
For my school it doesn’t affect Highschool gpa just middle school
I just found out my school will not let me take both AP french and AP Spanish senior year so I’m trying to figure out what class I should add instead.
Currently, I have (including this upcoming year):
4 years of English
3 years of science (ish)
4 years of social studies
3 years of math
4 years of language
I hope to pursue global studies/IR so would it be beneficial for me to take 4 years of math regardless?
In my experience at least, the only thing MS affects in HS is what classes you can take (ie you can’t take Spanish 2 in hs without doing Spanish 1 first). It doesn’t affect your hs gpa and you don’t send your ms transcript
Yes math is gonna be beneficial bc regardless your still gonna have to do gen Ed’s in college including math. I heard that students who don’t take math senior year tend to struggle with math in the first year of college. Math is something that you forget if you don’t use it.
The only option that works in my schedule is AP Comp sci principles which is technicalllllyyy a math course but (to my knowledge) doesn’t help to build skills like that in calc or stat
Yah ap comp sci principles wouldn’t be like math math. You could consider a dual enrollment course
That’s what I think imma do. If I take a math course at a local community college for example, do you think a university would still count that as a 4th year of math?
Um I’m not sure if they would count it as a 4th year of math persay, but depending if you go in or out of state and the level of math is high enough they can count it as math cred towards general education and you won’t have to do that class in college
Hmmmmm
The other issue is that my science credits are kinda weird cause freshman year I took bio at my HS, sophomore year I took chem through a separate college, junior year I took anatomy as a science elective, and senior year I’m planning on doing allied health (which is dual enrollment through another college and isn’t a well known science course).
I’m worried a university may see this as only 1 year of science so maybe it would be more beneficial for me to take a science course next year in replacement of csp?
Sorry I have so many questions but idk what to do honestly
Oh I have a question
So I don’t think my school is going to offer AP spanish next year and I’m going to finish spanish 4 over the summer, and I don’t really want to take AP Spanish anyways my junior year, so do you think that looks alright if I’m going into medicine? I get a seal of biliteracy for finishing spanish 4 and I’m already fluent in another language too
lmao same
not mandatory
but i also have 8 different periods
and am set to take around 12 aps
How hard is AP computer science A?
Not too hard from what i've heard.
Same
Don't white women benefit the most from affirmative action 🗿
Its us asian men that get screwed the most
well i still wouldn't be able to get scholarships
I ain't rich
same
but its $300
college is expensive
this is true
Asian Men get a -300 while White men get a -150
Not many for white people. I am trying lol.
I might list my race as Pacific Islander on the college app in a video game
Barely gonna afford instate, with a full time job, scholarships, and aid
I’m extremely tan compared to the average Asian person
Should I just say I’m wasian then
from im from being white gives u a better chance at getting the scholarship
Shi
Guess I’m not straight anymore
Im also not a cis man no more
Jeffina is my female name
Im ballin
Why not
Shi
What if I didn’t get the chance to get it changed legally
So saying im gay is the best bet
I mean it beats being straight right
I think the only advantage I have is im not tryna going into computer science
If they see another Asian guy applying for that
What they gone do tho
Business and probably a minor in stats or sum
I’ll go to law school afterwards
That’s the plan for now
Yeah but I’m getting a business degree to go to law school which I think makes a difference
Plus imo my extracurriculars are very not stereotypically Asian
I saw a video abt that
I can link it here hold on

They also said jrotc hurts your chances of college but I’m kind of skeptical of that
I’m in it rn so if it’s really that bad I might bail
why'd she say it like that
"Doing stereotypically asian activities if you're asian"
Whats that supposed to mean 🤨
well how else is she supposed to say it
thats true but still
i'm as tan as some latino ppl i know. . .
it seems to give an underhanded type of statement
tru
But it kind of makes sense, there are a ton of asian people doing the high skill but low social interaction type of extracurricular
I think my ecs are very not asian, in fact most of it focuses on talking rather than any skill now that i think about it
thats ture
i think thats my only one
maybe deca is asian
i see hella asian people in deca
but i'm on track to become captain so that'll be a nice bonus to my app
i don't think theres any stereotypical latino clubs
as far as i know its only us
true
gonna try to win glass next year
i'm getting carried by 2 deca officers 😎
i don't think its true
i think there were other factors that affected it rather than jrtoc itself
correlation doesn't equal causation
bros extracurricular is 'hola club' and is ragging on other ecs
ok buddy
is it actually called hola club
no shot
what do you even do in french club
i've never understood the appeal of a language/ethnic club
do you bake the 'cwa song'
what r u gonna study in college?
oh shi wait you told me abt that
didn't recognize your pfp
also how do you even do honor societies for specific subjects
our school doens't have that
bruh you didn't join a club cause of one person
i don't think my school would let that, any application based thing has to be started by a teacher
what do u think 💀
any string instrument is also asian
rip if you're in orchestra
Percussion gang 😎 everybody in the section white except me
i'll think abt it, seems like a pretty good idea tbh
LMAO are u going to 11th grade?
yeah
AP chem calc lang stats, regular history, band and jrotc
pretty light class load
didn't want to risk the 4.0 junior year
you?
percussion is not stereotypically asian
what else coul i mean by that
ap chem at our school is an easy A
our teacher is a retired electrical engineer and just wants to make some side money so she doens't do jack
self study time
all my bald teachers hella crazy
my math teacher bald and he hated my guts
chem teacher was bald and looked like he grew meth in the lab prep area
walter white
LIGHT???
UR CRAZY
mb for the late response
are u like valedictorian or somethin
we don't do valedictorian at our school, but i chose 3/4 of those classes based on teachers
so theres some context missing
AP Chem: Easy teacher
AP Stats: Teacher is also easy
AP Lang: Incredibly hard class but easy if you're on swim team especially if you're varsity
is the swim coach the ap lang teacher?
ah makes sense
and
dawg you must go to some stem school or sum
you can't even do ap calc as a freshman at my school
our school is so poor 🗿
we have 2 honors classes and thats english 1 and englih 2
poor school is less competition tho so club officer positions are ripe for the picking
lucky
my school doesn't even have ap human, ap csp, or ap stats 😭
only reason i haven't ran away yet
from my school
oh no 💀
our school doens't have any humantiies ap
guess whos self studying macro and can't understand anything 😭
my school has like 5 aps and they're all taught terribly so I'm just going to basically self study them
which ones
one second let me look
pre calc is so useless
didn't learn jack from that class
see at poor schools you trade your time for less competitions
at rich schools i definetely wouldn't be good enough at swim to be team captain or maybe not even varsity for that matter
@lunar harness did u take any aps ur freshmen year?
AP Biology, AP US History, AP World, AP Chem, AP Calc AB , and AP Lang
wanted to kms in a videogame
y r u doing this to urself
u must be a masochist
bros gonna self study ap chem 💀
no that's what's offered at my school
I'm taking those throughout high school not in one year
our school doesn't even offer ap physics 1/2
now i feel lucky for the aps we do have lmao
even tho we're mising some major ones
how was aphuman @lunar harness ?
We might get APES because we got a budget increase for science. I heard that we might get AP Gov back if they can find another teacher
but those won't be for a few years
i took it online so might be biased but its a ton of memorization
writing frqs isn't too bad
how many ap classes do ur guy's school offer?
aroun 20 or so
7
they also fired the spanih teacher
my school's poor so we can't afford ap classes 😦
i think the benefits of club positions and what you can do witht hem > ap classes on the app
its way easier to show your ambition
but it does feel nice to run for state office and beat out daddy's money rich girl from a school that has 3x more funding than we do 🥱
god she actually hated everyone form our school
cause we were poor
looked down on us like animals or sum
bro my school is literally like the 50th worst in my state and there's like 750 high schools in the state
oh 💀
💀
the ap enrollment is like 5% and most of the kids fail the exam
how much does it cost if u self study ap classes ?
96 dollars
including the exam?
96 is the exam
oh ok
I don't trust my school to teach me so I'm going to work over a summer and get into an ap course online when i take them in school.
i don't think you need to pay for an ap course, for the subjects you mentioned khan academy is perfectly fine
except for lang
don't know if its worth paying for all that
can you self study world?
ehhhhhhhh
my friend did it
but she said it was really difficult
and i don't think she did so well on the exam
but we'll find out in 5 days!
again i would technically take the classes, their just taught really bad and there are always interuptions at my school
I will, I'm just going to self study a lot beside it
They went over how to use a comma in ap lang 💀
no way 💀
I'm not joking
i bet it would be cool to say you took all the AP classes your school had to offer
would definetely be something noteworthy on the college app
yeah. tho tbf it's only like 7
I'm kind of glad I go to a poor school, because I know my class rank will be good, and I look really good for my school, but it kind of sucks you have to go to online resources because the teachers just straight up don't teach
I get teachers have a lot on their plate, but they literally make the kids teach sometimes.
And none of the teachers get fired because there's a huge teacher shortage and no one wants to work at our school
y'all have arts ap???
oh i thought you meant fine arts
Wait are you gonna be a junior or senior
we have none of those
AB?
Yeah
Why don’t you just take them in school
Unfortunately
I’m only going to take ap art history
so i can breeze through junior year
i have a lot of extracurricular responsibilities regarding school clubs so i'd rather take it easy
What year are you in?
Wait so what’s your jr year schedule
Same but I can’t take it easy
yeast 12
ap chem calc lang stats, regular history, band and jrotc
pretty light workload so
Calc?
yeah
Like normal calc?
Ohhh
I see
I mean I think chem is pretty hard
AP chem
I wouldn’t know cus I’m taking physics
But yeah bets of luck
Wait so if you’re British
Then when are your GCSE?
Why are you self studying then
I don’t think so
I looked at the overview and it seems very math oriented
is taking 4/6 ap classes in your junior year too much? especially with sat/act, extracurriculers, work, and sports?
I would think that physics would be more math oriented
But yeah chemistry too
That depends on you, your teachers, and what APs
Fs physics takes the cake but chem has more simple math
I’m taking AP physics my senior year after Calc so it should be light work
ap lit, ap stats or ap chem, ap comp sci a, ap gov, ap econ
That's 5 bestie
Same but I might end up taking taking AP Calc BC junior year
Yes
My class technically says AP Calc
It doesn’t specify which one
So I might just end up self studying the last few units
Fr I’m quitting math after high school
cuz i have a lot of extracurricular respsonsibilities and i want an easier junior year
Not british mate lol
Do they even have ap classes in britain
me too 💀 but senior year
🗿i'm so not excited
which ap physics
I'm probably going to take AP bio, AP Lang, and possibly another ap class depending on whether my school gets more ap classes by my junior year
Alright lol
i did ap lang and it was pretty easy, as long as u learn to write quickly and effectively which u should learn throughout the school year. from what i heard ap bio is pretty difficult but doable, and a lot of memorization. good luck!
Same. they go together very well and my school requires we take them together if we want to take AP Physics.
my school doesn't have physics or bc 😭
and it sucks because I get like double the college credit if i take bc for the college i want to go to and you only need to get a 3.
and then physics is also a 3 because ap physics...
to anyone who took Honors Biology in 9th grade; how was your experience in the class?
It was extremely easy, and didn't seem much different from regular biology.
My teacher didn't teach much and people complained but the content is super easy. (Taking biological anthropology in college and the second semester is like 1 unit or 2 days lol)
Only reason i didn't get 100 is because she failed me on all of my study guides because i don't know how to study
ill get a 100% on the test worth 50 points, but then shell give me a 2 out of 150 on the study guide....
oh, I've heard that it's the hardest class in freshman year, but that boosted my confidence!
Damn we take Physics freshman year
i take “integrated physical science” freshman year
Is ap physic c mechanics useful?
yes it’s one of the more important aps
ap physics 1 is also great to take if the calc is a worry for you
colleges are actually more likely to give you credit for taking physics c rather than physics b
I thoguht physics b wasn’t a thing anymore
yea we get that but if u score high enough you take physics instead
yeah but honestly i’d rather take physics again then fail physics c
like i enjoy physics
It really depends on the school and the teacher, but I’d say my freshman year honors bio was probably one of the hardest classes I’ve taken. Don’t let that discourage you though, because you do end up learning quite a lot, and you’ll develop better study habits.
yeah bio sucks
thats what our school made people take if you failed a class
prepare to learn a lot abt cells LMFAO
its not really hard, thats not the class you should stress about
I took precalc freshman so thats what i stressed about
oh, ok 🤣
I need better study habits lol, apparently I got the worst Biology teacher in my school so I really need to be prepared
Hated it but that was mostly since I didn't care for the teacher and I was stuck in remote. Very fun topic generally and a lot of the stuff I learned there has been relevant
I'd agree that it was my hardest class but the bar for difficulty isn't too high in freshmen year
that sounds great! I don't know anything about Biology rn but it would be nice to start off on the right foot 👍
yeah, I've heard that from a couple other people as well
Does anyone here have an idea of what a day in honors literature I / honors us gov would look like? I would appreciate any ideas or help you could send my way!
Are these ap courses?
I took honors lit this year and i was supposed to be in honors us gov but
No just honors
My 4 yr plan
(P) designates college prep classes. (HP) designates UC Honors. Everything in red is a college course and also weights my UC GPA.

How long do you typically spend per night for AP World History?
hey guys so i have to take calc and physics and im not sure when and what classes i should take with them, for context i took honors bio in 8th and will be taking honors chem in 9th.
i have also taken algebra in 8th
YO SAME. Im going into 9th grade after this summer and am freaked as well. Our school also offers the college level diffuculty of the class, so there is Pre-Calc, and UW Pre-Calc. I am gonna take (College version) UW Pre-Calc and am scared out of my mind haha. Do you have any tips for the rigor at least for normal pre calc?
Calculus is easy as long as you know the basics, where i study calculus started at 7th grade
So dont worry and have your fundamentals strong. If you have understood the basics anything that uses these concepts to be applied would be easy for you
Well, it was hard for me because in my 8th grade year my Math teacher ditched us and so we didn't have a math teacher for half the year. It seemed pretty easy if you knew the stuff from 8th grade (alg 2 w Trig) but if you don't you understand none of it.
I got a B+ both semesters (100s on the finals tho)
we use integrated math so that’s my attempted conversion lol
but honors level
(technically we start pre calc fundementals in 8th grade bc they split everything up)
i got my school half yearly report a couple days ago and i got a D in science :((((
Dang 😭 it’s ok tho grades don’t define who you are
People are gonna clown on you for that but ignore em
yeah ig
What was the exam about ?
hey yall do you think it's disadvantageous if I want to study international relations and have done some related ECs but a lot of my classes are STEM? I think I generally do better in math/science so I chose my classes to match that but that doesn't line up w/ my desired major or EC's at all
also i pretty much exclusively took STEM AP exams
you said ur year 8 right? that doesn’t go on college admissions transcripts as far as I know, and you might do really well the rest of the year so don’t worry about it too much :))
when i was in middle school I got C’s in math every quarter and B’s in my other subjects
but i’m a straight A ap student now
Only the grades for highschool does I believe
their one kindness 😭
13 yr old me was a dumbass 💀
I plan on doing the same! I am not absolutely sure. I plan on majoring in Political Science specializing in International Relations. However, I also plan on taking Calc BC and Physics C. I don't think its disadvantageous, I take classes that challenge me and give me a breadth of useful knowledge, and I believe colleges will understand.
Making a better visual of my plan cause im bored lmao
that’s a cool design!
my college freshman fall schedule:
university 101, fundamentals of art, design technology & concepts, elementary statistics, & english 102.. thoughts?
whats your major?
Im taking honors bio next year so is there any courses I should take to familiarize with the syllabus
Honors Bio will not be that hard I promise! Not really any courses needed because its an entry level course.
Damn-
Hello guys, I have a question.
This year I have Pre-Calculus Honors and I'm a little scared...I don't know what to expect.
Could I get advice.
I have the same situation! (Except that I have acc pre calc honors) and I need advice for it as well.
I have a book talking about it and I have been reading it...but I would also like to know some advice.
Also have any of you guys taken AP USH? If yes, is it hard and do you need any prep before school?
Friends have mentioned to know the Unit Circle.
Ooh
I'm taking that this year and my friend took it.
She said it was easy and passed with a 98, though she skipped/missed a lot of class.
So I guess if you actually go to the class it should be easy..
Though she mentioned to not mix up dates and people.
Ooh sounds good. Thanks!
I'm not a history person but my parents forced me to take ap ush so I'm kinda worried about it
Ooo she reccomend this playlist, lemme get it real quick.
Ugh I hate remembering history names and dates😭
She used this playlist a lot.
I want to do Calc
I love Math
I'm just scared of the unexpected.
Oh
Ohhh, sounds easy
I'm doing alg ii/geom B over the summer
Thanks!
Np!
great bc it’s the same for me
SAME, but im taking UW Pre-Calc, which is the college level version of the class my school offers. Im also gonna do it as a freshman(9th grade) and im scared
don't worry I was in the same situation
precalc as a freshman isn't actually that bad :)
a lot of it is review
the trig can get frustrating but once you get it, you get it
just need to practice a bit for that
if you wanna get more prepared, brush up on your alg 2 and consider finding a few online resources to help
it's not that bad trust me
True
yo if you have a final exam review or anything for precalc, could you dm me
have a friend who wante this and it'd be helpful coming from a real course
tysm for ur tips!
Do you have any special resources that would be helpful!?
hmmmmmm
okay so there are thousands of videos/tutorials/courses on youtube
so you could find a playlist with all of those
khan academy is really great to get prepared for a class but it won't have everything in all the detail
if you want a paid course, do something like straighterline idk (it's $59 + $99 monthly)
ah i see, tysm!
Hey so im not sure if any one would know the answer to this or not, however, is it theoretically possible to complete my Poli Sci major requirements in a year if I have all GE and LD requirements completed?
Because I am completed my GE and LD reqs through HSE and AP's.
Sadly I don't get dual credit so I will have to take US History at College and APUSH at hs.
But I can theoretically graduate with my AA-T in Poli Sci before my competition of high school, however, I won't be granted the degree until im 18 due to state law. So with that, I should be able to take my 8 major requirements in 1 year?
I plan on attending UC Berkeley and my back up is UC Santa Barbara
Only downfall is I wont be considered for the honors program
College level pre calc as a freshman sounds soo hard! (I'm new to states tho, so idk) but like I'm taking honours as a sophomore and im still scared about it
Props to you!!
Honestly I'm fine with the normal pre calc u mentioned but the college version scares me haha
Should I join all of the AP classes available?
hey so, i've never been into sports and i don't plan on but i know to get into the ivies you should do some sort of sport, could i replace that sport mentality with theatre? ik it's not as respected as sports but will it at least get me a chance at the ivies?
What did everyone get on their AP EXAM SCORES?!

Two 5s!
Hella proud of this
Hello! I am currently going to my sophmore year in august and I am taking AP Calculus AB. I was wondering if anybody has any resources that I can use during my time studying Calculus such as tools, formula sheets,etc... Another question I have is will I learn the formulas(Ex.FTC/FTL) during my time in Calculus?
Yes you’ll have to learn some formulas and this class made me want to break doing several times but you’ll be fine if you practice the material. I just found out i passed the ap today 😁 and if i can do it, you can too. In terms of resources, khan Academy is your best friend.
should i self study apes next year or be enrolled in a class (outside class since my school doesnt offer it)
i've heard its pretty easy to self study but the percentages of 5 this year and last are not very high D:
How long do you typically spend per night for AP World History?
depends, how many are available?
3
ayo im jealous
Maybe, if you think you’re capable, it’s going to be a lot of work though but it’s definitely possible
AP Gov people learning about court cases that got overturned 1 month later 🗿
feel bad for u guys ngl
I think I will thank you for the help
lmao
I read through the entire 213 page court ruling and it twas interesting to say the least. It is extremely helpful to have the background knowledge of all of the cases as they are mentioned several times throughout. Also gives a good understanding for CJ John Roberts dissent as well as the dissent in judgment by Justices Breyer, Sotomayor, and Kagan
I never took AP gov tho bc college poli sci classes are 😎
respect the dedication
my opinion is what makes the person I'm arguing with mad 🗿
Is ap csp harder or easier than ap csa? Or are both relatively easy? If so, which sounds i take? (Not offered at my school)
respectful
what should i take for my senior year?
and is it possible to self study it while taking 3 other aps?
Can someone tell me how I ended up with a 4.001 gpa with an average grade of a 94 in all honors classes and all me electives were 99-100s
Guys, I want to know how many mechanical engineering students should take?
I'll really appreciate it but I am just a high school student and I heard they have to take about like Cal 1,2,3 , Linear algebra? , Some physics?
honors are weighted as 4.5 for a/a+ and electives are usually 4.0 for a/a+ so with the right mix of grades in the right classes you somehow got that
my high school doesn’t offer anything past calc 1 and physics 1 lol. if you can take those classes go for it but you don’t need to go out of your way for them if your school doesn’t offer them or you’re not eligible to take them.
Can someone who took either CAD(draft and design) or AP comp sci principles let me know what the class is like and what to expect? Im trying to decide which class to take next year
If ur school allows u to take honors in freshman yr take them, taking regular classes don’t hurt you, but taking more “advanced” classes can help you
i was supposed to take cad next year but scheduling conflicts didn’t let me :(
Quick question which AP English class is better AP Lang or AP Lit?
I think lang? but it depends. Lang is more research and lit is more fiction book from what ive heard
Ap lang is junior year and lit is senior
taking my bio credit in 4 week sem rn and its the easiest shit ive done best summer spent lol.
4 weeks and i get bio credit
AP Phys C get me my Physics and lab credits
icon?
oom
I didn't know lawl
here is my study guide I made and its just shit i learned in HS Bio
and its not even in depth
Open note exams
like
llol
So I have a question about AP classes. My school does not offer them as I am in a Cambridge program school, they offer A-Level and AS-Level classes and I do not know how these compare to AP classes. These classes come from Cambridge curriculum.
AP classes are "equal" to US college/university classes
Colleges accept the score in liu of taking the class
I am like super bad at math and physics in middle school but my curiosity is massive, now i am learning cal 2 and 3. hope it helps in college years
as someone from the bay area everyone is super competitive here
im going into sophomore year but only have a few honors classes
i took an ap this year and im self studying/taking an outside class for 2 or 3 aps next yr
should i be worried about my courseload and stuff D:
should i maybe take dual enrollment to get some college credits too
i’m planning on doing about the same in my sophomore year, taking 2 to 3 aps and self studying one class, idk what it will be
do you guys think i should change anything in my schedule for my junior year in the fall
Tbh it looks fine. I don't think that there is anything wrong with it.👍
oh nice, good luck with that!
hey so i basically have a choice to go to a school that has many oppurutnies and is just a good school but it's super competitive, there's another school with three classes i really want to take and is a good ish school overall but doesn't have as many oppurutnies. also it's based around medical science and ik i won't go into that field but probably something similar to that. what should i do?
Go to the competitive one and just work really hard
but there's pathophysiology and pharmacology classes there which i really wanna take
is there a way to skip classes that's not ap?
Should i take pure maths if i want to choose computer science? brainstorming my 6th form courses here
Taking Psy-2 rn lol. Pretty easy
How long will it take to self study enough info to take AP CSA as my first school computer science class?
how is AP english and AP Psych like?
Also, I was thinking of taking AP Chem, AP Gov and AP Comp Sci. Principles my senior year
Hey guys I’m a rising senior graduating in 2023, and I live in Texas. I signed up to take physics this year and I feel like I won’t have enough time to make great grades in this class given I have all ap classes in my schedule and busy ecs and college apps. I also have a nice rank that I don’t want to bring down. The problem is do some colleges require I take physics in hs? UT AUSTIN says “one course in biology and two in physics and chemistry are suggested”. I’m not looking into applying to ivy leagues, but schools like unc, uni of Florida, ut, etc
What should I do?
what are some tips to at least pass with a 90% and a 4 on the exam?
have an eassy teacher and khan academy
Can you still change your class?
Yes
@vestal stag If u have a nice rank don’t u get auto admission to ut Austin?
I’ve only taken psych but I loved it! Imo the concepts are really interesting and it’s a little intuitive to learn them since they often build on each other. You do have to memorize a lot of terms though, and I took probably 120 pages worth of notes throughout the course 😭 so lots of work but rewarding if you enjoy the content. Most people I know did well if they studied a lot and kept up with notes (we were only assigned textbook reading + proof we read it via notes) but if they didn’t then they had trouble. I did well on the exam but idk if it’s generally considered easy for an AP or not
You could take a higher level chem if there is one
It said 2 psychics and chem
I don't think it meant both
But I would check
Are u top 6% in ur school?
acid base reactions want you dead but if you master them you’ll get a 4
also study a shit ton but focus on mathematical and core concept practice problems because it’s an analytical course and memorization is only helpful for a couple units
i studied 5-6 hours a night every night for AP chem alone and got a 4
it’s actually a pretty fun class
oh and le chatleirs principle is in EVERYTHING literally everything if you know nothing else know conservation of matter and energy and you’ll grind through the logic problems
I don’t think so unless there’s a placement test that you can pass to take a class above that
Self -study them??? Idk
Not for your major exactly, but yes
So I got my freshman schedule today, and I didn’t get APUSH. Not sure if it’s full or if I need to change my schedule-well see, but if it’s full and I can’t take it, I feel like I’m behind. Someone tell me I’m not. I took all honors and that course, basically the max, but I feel behind now
Are a levels better than APs?
Don't believe so?
Maybe an actual college class in a community college, but that's has the same gpa as an AP class
But if I take no APs freshman, then take probably 2 or so next year, is that an ok pace to get into a top college
Wdym
Guys is it a good idea to take geometry and algebra 2 at the same time during freshman
Yeah I did that and it was fine
most schools don't even offer aps to freshmen you're good lmao
absolutely
i was supposed to do that but my school's teacher who basically runs the advanced part of the math department didn't let me haha
i wish i pushed for it further but she's going to let me double up on geo and precalc in sophomore year so there isn't really a point
taking calc junior year either way
Nice
My friends were telling me geometry is hard so I was wondering if it would be stressful to take both
Geometry was easy for me, but that depends on the person. I personally didn’t like geometry very much, so it was a pain, but I really enjoyed algebra
It was probably difficult for your friend, but it may not be for you
Ok hey guys!! My junior year schedule is getting more and more muddled and I currently only have 5 definite classes atm (AP Calc, AP Chem, AP bio, English 11, and APUSH), so I’m slightly stressed and I want to have a backup plan because I heard it’s not a good idea to take 5 classes in your junior year (if this ends up happening). I have a few classes in mind to take if it doesn’t workout - AP Stats, AP world (online, I probably wouldn’t take the exam because I just did euro), AP Psych (online), or AP Environmental science (online). Which is the most doable or the easiest for me with my current class load? I don’t want to be overwhelmed with extra work if I take another class, but I also don’t want to be taking 5 classes junior year
hm
My schedule is the same way
my definite class is Spanish 1 at my Community College lol
I didn't request Concert Band, so they are setting my schedule up for me to be in 6th period Concert Band, which I won't be, ill be in 7th period Honors Advanced Band. So they are gonna have a neat time tryin to do that...
Usually seniors only get free periods but if I need to I could get one because of my enrollment in Spanish at the college. (State allows me to have less attendance minutes)
also Im only getting 5 credits for PE Band not 10 so thats something as well-
No
Hey
hey
nonono it’s probably the easiest high school math class besides algebra 1
if you think you’re going to struggle with it you can do some of the course (or all idk) on khan academy this summer
that way you’ll have a good idea of what’s coming and you’ll spend less time on geometry, the easy subject, and more on algebra 2, the harder one
Yeah that’s what I’m doing right now
Don’t the problems take a long time to do? Like proofs and stuff
Yeah ig
im taking bio101 & lab at a community college online. is bio101 hard in general and is their any advice?
Is anyone taking calc 3
I think Bio 101 is just AP Bio it should be decent amount of reading but if you understand it it’s not that bad
Like the general gist of it
Lots of memorisation
I have a friend whos taking it during a 4-week short term summer session
I don't think its going well
yeah thats rly tough
is he passing rn or no?
Yeah
she missed 3 months of calc BC and got a 5 on the test
i know people from my school who cant pass a 6 weeks geometry summer course
ur friend is insane
Yeah
Shes def goin to an IVY league
We both gonna have the same amount of college credits but I got a B in honors math 2 lol
who?
oof
I wanna get a A+ in honnors math
I have a A+ in pre-algebra rn
sooooooooooooooooooo
yeah
is honors math 2 like
Alg 2 with trig
algebra 2?
but honors and pre is very diffrent, right?
oou
DON'T
dont drop
in my school extremely
Khan Academy is ur fav
lol
the thing is
And look at a bunch of youtube for help
in al 2 w/ trig if u get a 95 u can take calc ab
?
but if u cant
there is no point of taking it
Can anyone help 😭
U wanna take cal ab
so im not rly sure
def
?
the teacher is rly bad
my friend took it
and he got like an 83
Precalc is worthless if you know the trig
Like mean, strict, or dumb????
what is your question?
strict and dumb
not rly that mean
It can be done over the summer easy too
strict is goood
in my school its taking in Honors Math 2 and Honors Math 3 bc integrated math
according to him
It’s not worth a whole year unless you take a bit longer for concepts
the class is good but the teacher is trash
he doesnt teach well
at all
the geo teacher was bad but hes next level bad
yea
Cus u can just ignore the teacher and work on ur own
Which is the most doable of the current possible classes I listed
Put on some lofi music in the back to block out teacher
I hate u guys
out of AP Psych and APES?
I wrote down a few more
All the mac users in my school are snooty kids
Idk, I'm still in middle
And then there’s the current courseload I have
Same
APES would be easy since there is a significant Bio over lap. I cant really say any others. Maybe psych.
ooooooooooooooooooooo
Bro biggest flex for me is failing my AP euro dbq and still doing great
lmao
I heard mixed things about APes (I would have to take it online too)
it’s alright if u fail
Honestly, you could self study it.
If i needed the credit and wasn't poor id self study it with AP Bio
It doesn’t count as a class
I failed a bunch in english and got a A >:)
If I self studied it
Yeah my school made it so if u take al 2 with trig u get put into honors pre calc which has limits and stuff
Smart students get the w
Nice haha
Well yeah, im just saying the rigor.
its a big over lap so itd help with studying
We did limits in normal
O damn
I read this as "get a w" or withdraw fail lmao
Yeah, but I would actually need to take a class for it to count
lollllllllllll
Take the class!
Usually its a lot of in the field type stuff so it should be fun
I’m ASB prez
Is it worth taking online?
Got elected last week of school
Probably still yeah
🥳
Just less fun
take 3 ap at the least
AP Psych would fit online but it would be hard to balance that info with APUSH and stuff
7-8 per year is perfect
That’s what I was thinking
Ah true
People like u, social standing: +1000
I was thinking maybe AP world because I heard AP euro covers a lot of it
Don't take two AP Histories at once
im in middle lol
I appreciate that 🫡
Ah ok
Collegeboard makes their historys so badly
Lol, imagine mixing up the dates
that's deadly
hahahaha
I just got confused on the era
Make a song
The teacher died so if they cant find a replacement than prob not
It’s really fun
columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1862, he killed the natives at 18 8tive
I heard taking world and euro at the same time is good because lots of overlap
💀 so funny!
jefferson liked writing till he started dying
aba was shot by a acting a lot
christanity ended after deez nuts joles
and so did my grammer
This is why you should get Grammerly
...
hello?
everyone ran away
I’m here
lol
lmao
what
?
I thought most of us were in HS
um-
Or do you mean currently located at?
om
Surprisingly a lot of middle schoolers here
ig they need help getting into hs
💀💀💀💀
lol
Head starters
Ngl just worry about developing yourself and your identity in middle school kids crazy nowadays 💀
Hey guys! Quick question - I’m taking a few AP and honors classes; I was wondering how you guys manage those type of classes? What would you guys recommend?
Antidepressants
That’s what I recommend
Jk
Idk cause I’ve been in accelerated classes my whole life
Ha, my state made accelerated classes illegal until 7th grade.
Damn
Honestly, most of us can attend class and not have to change anything to get an A or B.
they trying hard to make them illegal for all grades
against fed law tho]
I would recommend not forgetting the class exists though ive done that a few times and been fine.
Here are standard math tracks found across the US
If you're wondering what math classes to take. In California, Advanced Math 8 certifies both Algebra 1 & Geometry (though its thought the integrated math system). I learned this upon a friend transferring to a school (in-state) which granted the Alg1 & geometry credit though the individual did not participate in ADV Math 7.
Actually, here is a grouping of a bunch of standard tracks that I got from counselor(s) from schools around the United States
There are two Honors science tracks because the bottom one was sadly not offered to my class as it started for the class of 2026
But a lot of schools nationwide have offered it
Hopefully this visualization can help any one understand what classes they should take depending on which track they are apart of
would top colleges reject me if i don’t take geometry in high school?
or if i did it online (with one of those programs that gives you a transcript and stuff) outside of my school?
i found something in the program of studies that might allow me to skip geometry and get ahead in math without wasting a period for double upping
geometry is a big requirement
but some states allow you to certify geometry with higher maths
hm ok
would it make any difference to college admissions if i took credit by exams for health, speech, pe, and language credits?
health speech and pe probably not
but definitely take a foreign language all four years
or if your hs offers it, test out
isn't it better to take the class rather than testing out?
why waste 4 periods in your schedule if you already know a language
most top colleges highly recommend taking 3 or 4 years
(from top to bottom: princeton, harvard, stanford)
Do I have to take Chemistry? or could i get away with taking 2 physics classes
most colleges like it if you take chemistry
all three college high school course recommendations included chem
so
so i should still take chem then
yeah
I’ve taken 1 hs bio course and 1 college bio course and plan on doing the same for Physics.
I really hate Chemistry
I’m fine in Calculus
I hate chemistry
AP Physics C?
I plan on taking that junior year
I’m excited but i’m gonna see lol
you can take other electives/programs at your school, doesn't have to be a language 🗿
or better yet
you can do both
thats what I did, I got my credits and took spanish
flex on your mono/bilingual friends
my point is if you're fluent in a language, you'd be bored sitting through the sequence of classes so you might as well do something better
online classes fill the language credits as well
a lot of the time you can test out of it just fine. But if you took a different language than you'd look extra good.
If only they had a class for my language
Personally I took the ap chinese test, tested out of 4 credits and got my seal of Biliteracy and also 3 years of Spanish so even if the college recommends 4 years I think I’m Gucci
Wish my school didn’t go to 7 period schedule tho
Totally would’ve taken ap spanish
Such a great teacher
I have to take spanish 4 for mine 😭
Take it online
Can’t you just take a test for the seal?
what were they before?
8 periods
wow
My school always has had a 6 period schedule
Damnnn that’s tough
Well it was possible to take 7 and 8
They don’t have a class or test
The question is do I want to take 5 ap classes at the same time with one being online
And self studying???
I hated the 8 schedule one
I might end up doing that
what grade are you and what do you want to major in?
...just collecting data
I take 7 classes every year then also college classes so thats another 3. I also take 3 during the summer.
but its only a 6 course Bell schedule
Incoming junior, business with some sort of stem to go alongside (likely data or statistics)
hm
sounds nice
I got a 5 on AP chinese I don’t feel like I need to take AP Spanish but maybe I’m trippin
Am I crazy for wanting to major in Political Science but minor in Aeronautical Engineering?
nah you're fine.
How would you combine them tho
^
Like my friend wants to do bioethics, campaign for different ethics stuff in medicine
So that’s why he’s minoring in biology
Im taking AP Calc BC and AP Physics C my junior year, and then the minor only needs 6 additional courses.
And im doing it bc I find it fun lol
it sounds funnn
Honestly ion even know what I want to do I’m lowkey in the same boat I want to combine something communication heavy like poly sci kr business with stem
yeah
yes, you're crazy
lmao
(it was a joke)
My friends doing applied mathematics with a minor in poly sci
So I think it’s pretty common
Dw your friends are just not on your level 😎
Humanities people > stem people 🗿 stem people pretentious af
Sorry guys
Ehhhh depends on how related they are
Taking Spanish didn’t help my Chinese in the slightest
Maybe I need to do more humanities aps on second thought
6 seems like too many tho 🗿
I have a lot of ec commitments
If I didn’t have that many I would consider it
Yeah
you bought a car
but ecs are too expensive?
and gas???
most ecs don't cost more than like 300$ for the entire year unless you have to travel imo
or the organization is run by greedy bastards
ngl considering just quitting nhs but putting it on the app anyway cause ion wanna pay
in a videogame cause that'd be unethical
