i’m so mad, i met with my guidance counselor today to talk about this and she would have let me done geometry but there are two reasons that i can’t:

• the honors geometry class is during my honors english class, the other honors english class is during my honors spanish class, the other honors spanish class is during my honors global studies class, and the other honors global studies class is during the band period. with this i am only able the take the regular geometry class.
• ap stats never runs at my school. she said that one kid in all her years of working there has ever signed up for it. how my math schedule throughout high school WOULD have been was algebra 2/geometry > precalculus > ap calculus ab > ap stats but because stats doesnt run i would only have three “years” of math even though i would have four math credits.

i can’t even self study it and test out in 10th grade because geometry is a graduation requirement

I know it sounds weird but maybe try to write diary entries in French. You could easiliy write about different topics. At the end of every entry you could make a list of the new vocabulary you used in your text.

Writing and talking together with reading will strengthen your overall French skills. But in the end the most efficient exercise is talking. It helped me a lot.

My school is super tiny and is a school that specifically caters towards people with learning challenges such as dyslexia to dyscalculia, language disorders, and much more. Hey I actually sort of understand your situation! I just graduated this year from my school as the second graduating class so my class is pretty small and we barely had any AP classes offered and only dual enrollment. I thought this would be a concern but it wasn't at all! I was the top of my class pretty much taking basic classes and had almost a 4.00 GPA. It's not your fault that they don't offer these classes to you and I'm pretty sure they can see that. My suggestion is this: take some extracurriculars, volunteer and maybe even take some dual enrollment courses. Also, challenge yourself by taking an internship (I regret not doing this). I would speak to your counselor if you have any other questions because at the end of the day, they are there to help you (but please feel free to ask more questions here!).

So I'm currently a rising freshman and I made a loose course plan for nearly all of my classes for 9th-12th grade since nearly all of them require prerequisites. They're sequential classes so I was able to see what classes I'm taking in advance. This is mostly for math and English tho. This led to my senior year having 4 aps. AP calculus ab, AP physics 1, a history AP, and AP lit. I'm wondering if this is too stressful because there's no way to move any of them to a different year. What are your suggestions. Okay so my school didn't provide any of the AP classes EXCEPT AP lit. The class is taken in your senior year of high school and it is said to be one of the hardest AP classes to take. Now I'm not saying to not take it, but as a former high school student who just took it, I would say that it is a great class to take if you like to read a lot and are good at dissecting and analyzing novels. If you do decide to take it, I would recommend reading a couple of books before the year comes and you take it (by books, I mean books and poems of literary merit such as "Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller or "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen).

If you aren't an avid reader, that is totally okay! You can already start preparing for the class by reading a couple of books throughout high school. It may seem tedious and boring but believe me, it helps! Your reading skills will improve a lot.

Also one more thing: taking 4 AP classes in your senior year can be tough considering you have to apply to colleges, scholarships, etc. I would recommend preparing in advance for all these things in order to take these classes and pass and still have some time for yourself.

Hi, going back to this topic for more context, I’m going into senior year, and Ik colleges take into account how hard the HS was. My school imo was relatively easy and compared to other schools. It’s not that hard to get good grades. My school will choose your classes. I’m taking College readiness math. They put you in a certain math track. Senior year you’ll either be placed in chemistry or earth/space some might have a choice between the two depending on the individual person.

As what Molly said above, the college does take into consideration what classes the school has to offer because at the end of the day it’s not your fault that you aren’t getting a wide range of classes. I was wondering if I should take APUSH? I took Euro this year and have done well (idk about exam score of course) I have over 100% in the class (curved tests 0-0) and all that. However, the APUSH class at my school has a massive reputation as being one of— if not the— hardest AP we have.
I’m asking because when my teacher was handing out the summer homework for everyone who planned on taking it next year, he called me over and was like “why aren’t you on this list?” And spent a few minutes trying to convince me to take the class. He even said he nominated me for some sort of social studies excellence award thingy (idk what it is lol).
I want to take the class, but also not because of how hard it is. It just seems kinda crazy and I don’t know if I could manage it. Pretty much everyone who’s taken it advises me not to lol.

apush is very fun to learn. however, like all ap history classes, they rush the curriculum a lot so you dont have enough time to go over a lot of things. i recommend going into apush at your own risk. if you enjoy it, then this might be a good class to take

Ah ok. The reason I can't move any of them are because I'm taking these pltw classes. Those classes are helping me get engineering certifications by the end of junior year. I was forced to do the regular level of precalculus at my school because honors didn't fit into the rest of my schedule, I do want to take AP calc BC but generally the honors class covers calc A in it and the regular class does not, I have already emailed the teacher about this and expressed my want to be competent enough to take BC but I wanted to ask here if there are any other steps I should take to make sure I'm able to take it

alright so turns out i cannot take geometry in my freshman year, the person who runs the advanced math program at my school advised against doubling up in 9th grade (i can’t take it at my school because of scheduling conflicts, but can at a nearby school. that school’s students are actually very behind on math and their math classes generally suck), but basically guaranteed me doubling up with geometry and precalc in 10th. this would be fine, but there is a college level (not ap) economics class available to grades 10-12 at my school that i would like to take in 10th before 11th and 12th as i am going to be taking a ton of aps in those two years. it is still possible to do so, but i feel like doing it in sophomore year would be much better for me. should i continue pushing for geometry freshman year, or just go with what was recommended?
