lmao
Not possible
yea
i have a problem with comparing myself to others
see, i wasn't gifted good intelligence
Can't relate
so i have to study for quite a bit to understand a concept
Jp
while my friend studies for like 5 mins and still gets a grade higher than me
Me with white people
You see thats where you have an advantage over others. I was just like you friend, I never had to study for anything. That was until I took ap calc. I thought i could go through the class without studying, but I was so wrong lmao. Those who were used to thoroughly studying did significantly better than me because they had that practice engrained into them. I learned that the hard way.
So dont feel bad about having to studying
It will especially help you in college ;)_
and still get a lowe grade
lmao
get a lower or same grade
thats what bothers me
That was me in geometry I felt kinds bad tbh
thats me in geometry rn
these two freshman score higher than me
even though i study alot more
Geometry can be rough tbh
My friends would study and get a kinda bad grade meanwhile I wouldn't
Bro geometry?
and they study for like 30 mins
Have you guys looked at khan academy practice materials?
yea
I didn't study once in geometryđ
Bro
i am disappointed i didn't take advantage of it
No
i am going to next year though
Yall should always study 24/7
I only studied for like 3 classes
In the earlier years of high school you dont really need to study that much tbh
I never studied until Junior year. I took AICE Chem, where studying was a must
I studied for ap worldđ¤
When your freshman schedule was half of ap classesđ¤§
damn
Never again ima take half dc n half ap
Same
my golf season just ended
Gifted kids still couldn't in my school
first year in varsity
But they could take dual j think
? Damn
Well dual is kinda tricky
Bc of the tsi
one freshman is taking 4 APs next year
And all that
I was trying to take 4 junior yr
No dc?
But bc there's only a limited number if classes I couldn't
Junior year can make or break you
so for stats
I was trying to take 1 but it didn't work out
Damn what happened man
There is only one ap lang class St my school and the college class was at the same time
How many aps have you taken? Colleges limit how many ap classes that can be used for credit
none so far
this year was boring for APs
it was AP euro
AP gov
I will for the gpa boost
bro you seriously gonna read poetry
My school doesn't have that unfortunately
yeah it was just there for bragging rights i feel lol
Pretty sure a push is harder right
My apwh teacher teaches apush aswell
the apush teacher in my school sucks
My ap euro teacher got fired for being drunk at school đŚ
Nice

my gov teacher
omg
he looks like he hates his life
he literally said in front of my honors classes
i hate teaching regular and honors classes
i only like AP
Valid
dosen't stop there
he is also the track coach
on one of the meets,he said i want to get out of here because i know we are going to lose
like L coach
nope
Damn
My school has students take gov senior yr
people are calling me a psycho for wanting to take ap chem
Seems like fun
Shi I would too
The ap chem teacher at my school is nice tho
same
Luckily my chem teach was fun and actually like to teach
he's funnt as well
Same
He was actually being a teacherđ¤Ż
Pretty sure thats half
wdym
o
And then you can take a full year of stats
Gn^^
are these classes looking good guys? (also the ap stats is changed to tag ap stats)
my junior year ^
Does it get difficult to get into top universities like Harvard , Columbia , Stanford, NYU , Oxford if we donât take any AP classes in 9th and 10th grad cause the school doesnât offer Ap classes ?
It's by default hard to get into these universities, even if u do take aps in freshman and sophomore
whatâs the procedure then for countries that donât have aps at all?
usually colleges understand ur school so if ur school doesnât offer aps u wonât be deducted for it bc thatâs out of ur control. what they ultimately care about is if ur taking the most rigorous course load u can (so if the highest level classes offered at ur school is honors, u want to take mostly if not all honors classes)
Make sure you note in your application that your school didnt offer them
Very true
Damn yall have a lot of periods
I thought you were referring to the monthly time- đś
how hard is apwh?
iâm apparently required to take apwh during freshmen year next year and is curious
LMAO
u just dont take aps the colleges wont get mad
if youâre school doesnât offer then but youâre taking full advantage of the resources offered they will understand. as long as youâre taking the most rigorous courseload possible they will be impressed.
also, you can take ap exams without taking the class at school
my school also doesnât offer aps to underclassmen so iâm self studying a bunch
I want to take calculus at some point of my highschool career, so I can take the AP calculus exam without taking the class? The reason I ask because I don't have the school perquisites to take calculus. I took Algebra I last year, Geometry honors this year, then you take algebra II next year, and then pre calc senior year. I can't skip any of these yet I need calculus during highschool as I am pursuing engineering.
you need precalculus in order to take calculus
so you could probably self study it over a summer
then self study the ap calculus course during the school year
so how do i take the ap calc exam then?
if your school offers the exam you can ask your ap coordinator to sign you up for that
so there isn't any prerequisite for taking the exam right
the general order for math courses is:
algebra 1 > geometry/algebra 2 > pre calculus > calculus/statistics/advanced algebra
im taking ap stats next year
you definitely need to take precalc before ap calc
ap psych is 1 semester the adv sp topics thing is the 2nd sem
Can anyone rate my classes next year. I am going into Junior year.
AP English
APUSH
AP Computer Science A
AP Environmental Science
Physics GT (my school doesn't offer AP)
Trigonometry or Pre Calculus
Engineering Principles
Health and SAT Prep (half credit)
Iâm gonna be a freshman so not really sure, looks good, Iâm taking all honors and APUSH too! Also Robotics (just a general interest course)
That's cool!
Wow! Very impressive, based of those courses I think you want to be an engineer.
True, but I prefer majoring in genetics or like medical
My school only offers it during senior year
So I'm definitely doing it for senior year, but I took regular bio last year, and i loved it
Sure!
AP Language & Composition
AP/ECE Statistics
U.S. History Honors
Physics Honors
Algebra II Honors
Advanced Engineering-Design
Entrepreneurship Honors
AP Environmental Science
@cinder gorge
What grade will you be in if you don't mind saying?
Yes, those are also impressive!
junior
Oh wow me too
Is it engineering?
aerospace/aeronautics yea
Oh yea
Yes it's for prep
damn lucky
We are required to take it lol
makes sense
My school values good sat scores
I'm not really sure, and I'm not even sure what I am majoring in, I'm undecided
But right now, i wanna go to University of Chicago or University of Maryland
Ohh, well, i think MIT but it's impossible for me lol
how come?
Low acceptance rate
chicago is also low
And i don't wanna pay too much tuition
ah
Yep, no debts for me
i see
All degrees are weighed the same no matter school anyways lol
I'd go to the school that offers me well financially
But if you were an employer and you had to chose between two applicants with the same credentials and interview skills, but one went to a state school, and the other went to Harvard, who would you chose?
Going to a nice school has it's perks, but the cost for most people is not worth it
Of course many people would choose Harvard for big companies, but for small companies, they will sometimes reject Harvard because they believe that there are better companies suited for them
Yup, that's my point too
Yeah
Fortunately, those nice fancy schools have very very generous financial aid if you can make it in
most schools require a formal education in pre calc
They just give away full rides
oh
I just don't wanna have to pay 80k for school lol
and idk if taking precalc and calc would be good at the sametime
lmao me either. school is ridiculously expensive
If they do offer me that, then I will accept it of course
I know UChicago offers generous aid if you fall under a certain income
They do
Personally, Northwestern gave me very generous aid because I'm poor
my question is, math wise, what should i focus on
Harvard wonât make you pay more than 10 percent of your family income, so even if your family makes 150k total which is above average, youâre paying 15k a year (below average) assuming dorms and stuff isnât included but still
Ohh, wait you're in college?
if i want to achieve calculus by senior
And I've seen others get similar aid because of the same reason
Going to be this fall!
Yes lol, but my family doesn't want me too far either
Northwestern, 9% acceptance rate.
That's great!!!!
Oh that's nice
Congrats!
makes up for the insane acceptance rate ig
I want to get in a nice college, but I value location more than anything else
Yeah it's kinda selective
yes kinda
i have plenty of nice colleges around me
Dude I know this one dude that got into MIT under Questbridge (that's a full ride and they only select 10 people), got into Caltech (2% acceptance rate this year), West Point and Stanford, all of which with full rides
He's crazy
Omgggg
damn
Congrats to him!!
idk how he did it but good for him
Which school did he end up choosing??
Dang I just want to make it in to somewhere like UNC
I have Yale in my state, Harvard and MIT (2 hour drive), Cornell and Princeton (2 hour drive)
damn
đ¤Ż
My man es muy inteligente
yo stupido đ
Literally the ultimate flex
How do u even qualify for questbridgd
He is a walking flex
Cure cancer
đ¸
I've never heard of quest ridge but seems great
If your family makes less than $65k a year, you are eligible to applying during your senior year
Good luck!
Dangg
Become op at everything academic and have a household income of 65k or lower
I got my chem exam today too, i got a 92
Great job yâall!
Iâm in 8th grade, heading into 9th, and got a 98 on my honors alg 2 exam Iâm so happy
I feel like I should have done better
holy what
algebra 2 in 8th grade
nice
My household income is more sadly not rly sadly but yea
Omg, I'm a sophomore and taking algebra 2 honors, and you're in 8th grade- đ
its good but bad
Yea
im taking freshman
Thatâs still really good!!! I heard chems rly hard
It's a program for low income students. It offers full rides to a bunch of elite and top universities. About 18K apply, 6K become finalists. Around 1.5K of those kids get into "match" into one of the universities, which is a full ride. Another 1.5k end up getting into those schools anyway - that was me - with full rides, or close to full rides.
yea, just make sure to not study last minute
Physics > Chemistry > Bio
and it will be easy
except when physics becomes way too hard
Bio is L
then
Bro
Chemistry is better
Fr
I had to take bio or some basic science
I have physics next year
So I picked bio
best class
my school treats chem honors as AP Physics C
The only bio unit that's bad is like the glycolysis one
but colleges won't look at it that way
Thanks!
Genetics and evolution is the best in bio imo
Algebra 2 in 8th! So cool. I took Geometry then. When I took Geometry then, I was ahead of my school district, and only a few kids took it with me. Now, Algebra 2 is what is considered to be "really" ahead. Kids get into higher maths earlier. In a few years, I swear, some kids are going to take precalc in 8th
For me bio is just way too boring
bio <<<<
Yeah I liked the genetics unit
I have zoology right now, and we did a rat dissection
fr
i need to take comp sci
Physics<<
fr
not based
but my schoold osen't offer it
I wish it school offered comp sci
Aw man
they don't
Thatâs rly good-my school does alg 2 before geometry. I had a rly easy intro class in 7th but it wasnât actually geometry, and Iâm taking that next year.
my school has compsci but the language it focuses on is java
:(
That's âstandardâ at my school
Literally standard stuff. You aren't dumb
same
well it ain't at mine lol
I wish I liked computer stuff, but I hate coding
most are in Alegbra II as of rn
Geometry was really easy, I took good notes, it's basically mostly using formulas
Just because you are not "ahead" in math doesn't mean you are dumb
oh
A lot of kids take alg/geo at my school tho freshman yr
Everyone has different strong suites
yeah but you are still on par with the grade level
That's ok! You can do other things!
we have something called exit slips
Same Kevin
Like half my grade takes geo in 8th grade
What a math are you taking?
I really wish I got to skip geometry. Worst math class. It was uninteresting. I'm more of a calc person
not half but almost half
i wish i can take calc
you can
You can if you self study!
Whatt really?, It was so fun and easy for me
when though
Some kids didn't even have to take geo at my school bruh
It just didn't appeal to me though
Geo is filled with useless proofs
cuz im already taking stats and algebra II next year
Me too, but I have to take trig or pre calc next year
and its so boring
This yr? Or wut
Not even gonna deny that LOL
R those two different classes for u?
if u want to u can take a precalc summer course and get into calc ab
Junior
im doing probability in geometry lmao
Pre calc/trig ?
In my school, I can take any
this or next summer
my school luckily allows you to skip pre calc
so im very happy about that
My school doesn't allow skipping at all, they thing we'll die if we do loll
Pretty sad that my school won't offer stats after this yr
calculus
yeah
i haven't either
You can discover the next lesson of calculus by yourself by tinkering around with some ideas
I never had that experience in another class
Khan Academy!!!
I took German 1 in 8th and Iâm going German 2 next year-I want to learn Spanish as well, but donât want to be with the younger grade people in 10th grade. Do you think there would be anyway to get me into Spanish 3 next year?
Khan academy yess
my school allows you to skip pre calc if u get 96 in Honors Algebra 2
oh
its achievable but it's not easy
dosen't matter if you get a 110 in alegbra II
Dangg
literally my school is 90% indian
same
I don't think you can skip, and i also don't think that's it's bad for you to take Spanish with younger grades, do what you want!
but that's not the point
The idea behind it is that if you wanted to approximate a function without using the original function, you would do something like that. You can approximate stuff like the sin(34) without the calculator
It's kinda cool
dang
Can't you take it somewhere else, like a community college, like an ECAP program
i can try
Mid
oh my algebra II teacher is so bad
Ya, i have Algebra 2, it's so easy
Mine just gave me desmos assignments
omg
lol
He actually taught us something new the last week of schoolđ¤
0oo
Algebra 2 is what made me intrigued in math, calculus is what made me want to continue learning math
That's nice Brugger
Honestly I didnât like alg 2. I had a rly hard alg 1 teacher, most hated it, I kinda liked it. Alg 2 was super chill, but it was a lot more challenging because the concepts so I did a bit worse (still high as but lower and I didnât fully understand) but then I got a 98 on the final and Iâm still ecstatic two days later
But never would I become a math major
what are you majoring in
Alright guys, I'm going to sleep now! Good night!
gn
same except im still in the intrigued stage
i have a spanish quiz tmr
Comp sci
Comp sci is the best sci
Fr
We are the alphas of the stem world
My alg II âfinalâ was like 8 questions on student desmos
simply put
thats actually so lucky
Chem people go crazy
at my school, if you mention comp sci people will call you a nerd and a anti grass toucher
we get like 50 questions
đđđ
Yea
people are already calling me that for chem
Mine was 40 couple multiple choice questions and two open ended
I'm taking chem nxt yr
Never would I think Chemistry would get to a degree that involved calculus at my level
half life was that hardest thing in chem this year
prepare yourself for a world of hell
AP Chem doesn't hold a candle to AICE chem, which is what I learned
I hear the chem teacher at my school is bad but you can correct tests for full points so pretty easy
im taking ap chem senior year
Did anyone here take APUSH? Iâm taking it 9th grade and a bit nervous-I know I can set myself up so well if I keep an A and get a 5, how realistic is that?
Only juniors can take that at my school
how did u meet the prereqs
yea i was gonna say
It was the only AP class available, and there were no prereqs
i can't take any us history until junior
oh
this year
it was ap euro and ap gov
for us we can take in sophomore if we get a high grade in honors usgov
Anyone take the apwh exam?
those are some ew APs
It was us history 1 or honors history 1 or APUSH
AP Euro and AP gov are L
Wouldn't know
i didn't take the class
but from what my friends are telling me
These are all the classes I took in high school
AICE is like AP but a tad more british
Cause it comes from Cambridge
EWQEWQiEq
What's AICE
ohh
my school uses it cause it makes them money
also cause colleges in fl are required to take them
my school doesn't keep our actual percentages fortunately
sadly no where else in America are they recognized
First time ive heard of them lmao
those are my grades for this quarter
dw, not many people know of them
My school was quirky like that
But imagine having multiple ap exams per class
lowest is 92 in geometry
that was the experience taking aice
omg those grades đ
I had the highest grade in my school in geometry somehow idk
Our final was 100 questions
but it was the second geometry test of the year i got below 90
The first units of geometry are a blur to me tbh
the shorter the test, the harder the test imo
ong
Fr in my adv English class teacher gave us a 12 question test on Julius cassaru. Most ppl got >50
what would you do if you had two free response math questions, and you don't know how to do one of them>
Just die
that is what you would do
One downside of math...in history you can just bs ur way through
wdym
For math I would def just get something down
Like you Dont necessarily have to know the answer
But yeah, history you can do decent and just have background knowledge
I would tell you how to do it but I don't think you would know how to do it
i just randomly pulled it from google lol
Yo same
I am in fl as well and my school has aice
You'd need to apply l'hopital's rule
omg twinsies?
Its so very mid
^
Are you from south west FL
veritas
I'm from the sarasota area
Just finished sophomore year
ooh you ahead according to my school standards
Thats how they have it here
You take gen paper as a freshman
should i take ap micro/macro
but when I got into hs, they didn't allow us to do that
yeah, it's a fairly easy class
my school does micro and macro
there is a lot of youtubers that teach ap macro and micro
like seperate
Jacob Clifford is really good
My school only has macro
My school doesnt offer half of those aice classes on that schedule
Same as well
We don't offer euro
Just American and International History
My school has done aice for a while, they were early adopters
so that's probably why
We only have gen paper, euro, marine, global, psych, american, and english
ooh that is a really small amount of AICE classes
Didnt even know there were other aice classes to be honest
Theres aice chem dafuq?
Idk what ap euro is like but i can say aice euro is yikes
we have Gen Paper, Spanish, French, English Language, Literature, Marine, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Psych, Global, American History, International History, and probably a few more
It's awful
aice chem?
oh shi
one of my friends that was self studying AICE Chem A-Level with me (which is the second year of AICE Chem) took the AP Chem exam. He said the material covered is mainly from our PreAICE Chem days and some 1st year AICE Chem
AP Chem covers a few topics in depth
AICE Chem covers a lot of topics
Including Organic Chemistry
looks like im in for a treat when i take ap chem
which is vile
Wait what yall have a levels?
Yeah
All of our classes are as level
we have a few a levels
and you can opt to self study an a level if you beg admin
We only have 6 AP classes though
which kinda sucks
Sounds really fun
I saw a level marine in the back of the textbook and it looked scary
i'm sure it is scary
My school is transitioning from ap to aice so they are taking away certain ap classes and replacing them with aice
My school has 14 Aps I think
a downgrade for sure
well
Ap psych and apush are being replaced with aice versions
AICE is great if you want to go to school in Florida
No it just is
Yeah but me and others at my school want to go out of state, specifically MIT
And we feel like this program is kind of limiting us
It does
it limited me
I feel like if I had AP instead of AICE, my resume would be stronger class wise
if I could have taken AP Physics C or something
and like Calc BC junior year
instead of senior
Wish my school had that
yeah...
A lot of us are turning to taking APs on FLVS
What's that
Online school in Florida
My friend got to talk to the Harvard Football Coach (he came down to visit him), and the coach told him that they don't look at Florida much because we are so far behind from the rest of the states education wise. We lack AP's and our math is so far behind the curve
But then again who cares about harvard
Plenty of kids from FL get into good schools
FR
I know this one kid who got into Caltech, who also lives in the Orlando area
They got a full ride
Alright i'd better get some sleep
@icy iron there i did it
that was fast
@toxic cobalt what was it about
hi
U finish the essay
no
Dope
Does anyone else have Clubs or Crews in their school/college???
Yes, we have clubs
Hi
hello peeps! For some reason my country doesn't offer AP classes (except for this 1 school which is half the country away from me), is there an alternative option I can take instead of AP classes? I already am doing accelerated language and maths selective classes.
In Australia btw
Online AP courses.
Try AICE courses
Those are similar to AP
Although many US colleges do not accept them for credit, they do recognize them as rigorous
Try to find a way to take at least one or two AP courses if you can
It'll probably be online
Shoot your shot at AP calc and an AP science
They probably be similar to what you are learning
So the high school Iâm thinking of applying too has international baccalaureate programme and Iâm thinking would that actually look good on a application or should I just stick to APs
FLORIDA STUDENTS UNITE
Does anyone have any advice for AP Seminar? Iâm taking it next year, but donât really know what Iâm getting into
i kind of want to try to see if i can take alg 2 and geo at the same time but i donât know how to ask my counselor
how would i go about doing that
Maybe something along the lines of "Hey, I was wondering if there was any way for me to take both algebra 2 and geometry at the same time to accelerate my learning. In the past math has always come easily for me, so I believe it would be most beneficial for me to speed up my learning in the subject."
mhm
guys is 4 ap's enough..? rn my schedule for junior year looks like AP Lang, AP Calc BC, AP Chem, AP CSA, Adv. Spanish IV, Art Portfolio, and Photo I, but i'm thinking of replacing photo 1 for another AP
What year
and is 4 aps enough for what
enough is objective
you could take no aps and go to community college
and that would be considered enough
Subjective*
ap chem requires a lot of time hopefully ur able to manage it
Yes it is enough, Iâm a going to be a junior too and Iâm gonna take 4 as well, But Iâm not sure for you though, because my school said 4 is recommended and should be the maximum per year
Only take AP when you believe youâll get an A or B in it
What is APCSA?
ap computer science: a
Wait lol
How did I not know that that was the abbreviation
Iâm literally gonna take it next year too
idk but the first time i read it i thought it was the pet shelter organization đđ
what apâs are you taking next year?
oh nice!
Urs too!
apparently the apush teacher at my school is a terrible teacher so i decided against that đđ
and some people say the apes teacher at my school gives way too much work out so i decided that with chem was too much
I did chem this year lol
oh damn, my school only offers two apâs to sophomores
apwh and ap seminar if you basically beg to take it
My school only does apwh ap comp science prin
For sophomore
I had to do honors chem or ipc, and I wanted to do chem early so I chose it lol
ohh wait i thought you meant you did ap chem this year đđ i did advanced chem this year too
We donât have ap chem lol
My school doesnât offer lol
But itâs really easy, itâs my favorite subject right now!
Hell yeah Florida :c
What do you guys think of AP Biology? I am taking it next year
Also, as a freshman, is 1 AP enough?
yes
My school only allows one AP for freshman đ
My school allows 0 APs for freshman and only 3 for Sophomores
my school doesnt have APs
Which AP
Ap hg
nice
My school doesn't offer any in freshman
Same for me
None sophomore year either so đ
fr same here
What's up with apush teachers
what AP class is recommended for nursing?
Pre calc and bio
Easy ap that I have a very good grasp
Well dual enrollment bc im taking it in my local community college
Since ib is a set schedule, how could I enrol into bio and chem while still being in ib? (finishing science 10 over summer break and going into pre-ib this coming semester)
Question for high school, Iâm taking 5 ap classes including Physics C and Calculus BC (will be a junior). Is this a terrible idea
im a freshman rn and im taking ap csp and cs 1 next year. This a bad idea?
wish i saw this earlier
ive already confirmed my classes a while ago
So
Guys I have an IGCSE School system
I am in Grade 8
In Grade 10, I will take some exams and I have to choose at least 4 out of 9 subjects
And It will decide my future
I am taking Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Math, English, CS, ICT and Accounting
So is it bad idea to take all of this
So guys Iâm in a bit of a bad situation I want to get all Aâs and I have all Aâs in everything besides algebra 2 and the only way I get it to an a is if I get a 98% on the finalâŚ. Any advice?
Thank you I appreciate that, Iâve never been one to study a lot so I think everything will be fine
uh ok
ask for extra credit maybe
email ur teacher
For how long and when would you take these classes?
Study for the finals, ask your teacher if she/he has any study guide that will be on the exam, if she/he yes, then review those. But if not, review lessons you did during that school year at least a week before the finals. Also, if you did 10 units, you can split those on different days depending on how long you think it will take to comprehend or how hard it is. Whatever makes you comfortable.
I also have an Algebra 2 final too loll, Iâm sure youâll be fine if you understand what you have been doing in the class lol.
With what to study, I have this lined up for me
Factoring (PST, Binomials, Diamond, MPP, etc.), Functions (Domain and Range, Transformations, the any function formula with the vertical stretch or compression thing), Transfromation and Translations, Square Root Function/Radical Function, Quadratic Function, Polynomials, Rational Functions, Exponents and Logs. For the functions, know how to graph, solve algebraically, imaginary numbers, inverse.
what about sin cos and tan waves?
the whole unit circle
that was part of my algebra 2
So i have to take all of them, i can choose majors only at 11th and 12th grade
We didnât do that in mine lol
Should I take pre-calc for 10th grade or AP statistics first?
Pre-calc
Probably pre-calc if you took algebra 2 in 9th
AP stats should be reserved for senior year
if u want to go into a stem field then its good to do AP calc eventually, so do precalc. if u want to go into business or finance, AP stats.
What are some helpful and simpler AP classes a person can take in high school? I am interested in engineering and currently have Cal AB and Comp sci Principles in my four-year planner.
make sure u also try to take Comp Sci A and Calc BC if possible
ap physics
and ap lang even tho itâs not involved in engineering the class isnât too hard and it can be applicable to ur writing skills
im having trouble deciding my classes for sophomore year hs
i get 3 elective spots (currently have them selected as Spanish, APUSH & Comp Sci A)
i play the cello & i originally removed orchestra from my schedule because i didnât like it at the time of class selection
however, i started liking it more in the following semester, but i already replaced it with APUSH
im thinking about going into technology/comp sci so i didnât know if apush is worth keeping
the only thing i know it will help me with is showing rigor on my transcript but i couldnât figure out whatâs better: rigor or music/fun?
I would go for rigor
You can always show your interests and stuff through clubs and outside competitions
I have a question about my sophomore year classes in high school. So like, my school is only available for AP History for me. But I didn't want to take it because I didn't really like history. But does colleges care that much if you don't have a single AP class during sophomore year? Because I am really worried that I won't get into a decent college. My goal is to be able to get into Yale, Cornell, or UCSB to be more reasonable.
it is okay if your school doesnt offer as much ap classes
however you need to explain to the admissions office when applying that your school does not offer a lot of ap classes due to circumstances. theyll understand and consider that into your process
however taking a ap history course whether be euro, apush, world, or art is very fun
I see, I just personally don't like history courses very much. But thanks for letting me know. I will keep that in mind
I appreciate it
Guys is 89.97 an a
On my gradebook it still shows as b
Teacher wonât round either
it depends on what school you go to
Bc some have it where an 88 and up is an A
And others have it where and 90-91 is an A
Ok itâs weird cause for my history class i have an 89.5 and it shows a-
yeye np
But for my English if I do good on final it goes to 89.9&
89.97
But shows b
@cinder crag
thats odd
i would suggest emailing ur counselor and telling them
Bc this type of thing happened with one of my friends to
It was an A
it shouldnât be but thereâs a chance
I checked the college board website and it says 87-89 is a b+
But what abt 89.9 or up
a- ig
Ok
yea a-
yeah
you should email ur teacher abt it
Well idk if the teacher can do much
oh
Cause I can do like the âwhat-ifâ mode on aeries
Aeries is where my grades are
And I changed it so that I got max on final which is a grammar quiz
oh
This will probably seem like a stupid question but do you need to take calculus in high school to get into top colleges?
Depending on major and it will stand out
Counselor will said "pre calc wouldnt be judge differently then calc bc"
Thats a mf lie
Cuz a lot of people who show their transcripts etc take calculus in high school and like i am not going to be taking calculus in high school unless i take a math class during a summer
You can do ap physic to cover lack of calc
Which math class youre taking senior
i mean i don't think I'm really a math person
Right now it seems like pre calc
Well take pre calc in your local comm college your district partnerup with
What major would you like to do
Or persue
Yes that exist
bro i kinda like forgot about that lmao
Rgn im taking two summer comm college
Plus it has a online option, hyprid or in campus
Especially as a high schooler taking dual enrollment they waive your tuition
So you have plenty of chances to do
Oh there is a registration so deff look out for that
What standardized tests are important for America in high school? Does anyone know weather American colleges would accept the IB diploma instead of the SAT?
Ib diploma and sat are wayyy diff
America univ will mostly care about the act or sat
Thanks
most colleges are test optional which mean you dont have to take them unless that is the only way to show your academic level
act/sat generally cost $55-60 usd which unless you have enough money to pay for it, i recommend study hard in school and earn a good enough gpa along with extracurriculars that help boost your college application
Some school will pay for your 1st sat or your future ones by lowering cost
you can also appeal for waivers if you need to
Mhm some requirements to be eiligible for a waiver so check counselor
yeye
i asked my counselor how to get a fee waiver for the act and he doesnât even know đ
I like math but I feel stupid asking my counselor to concurrently take precalc and calculus at the same time. ;-;
i donât think it would make sense to take them at the same time bc precal is what prepares u for calc hence the name. u can try taking precal over the summer if ur school allows u if ur rly eager to take calc next yr
do you eat free or reduced lunch at your school?
basically do you rely on the school to get you fed?
if you so, you can qualify for the act/sat waivers
i normally use that when i take my act so it helps out a lot for it
When you have that but your campus is a open one so you buy mcdonaldsđ
i was on that program since kindergarten but i usually bring by own or go to chick fil a đ
YessirđŁď¸ âźď¸
One time I bite into a raw chicken in school
Chick fil a could neverđ¤ˇ
on god
everyone at my school gets free lunch lol
hmmm
im not sure about it
check this site
oh i got the fee waiver for that already
but my guidance counselor is figuring out how i get it for the act
cuz when i looked it up it said i need to ask my guidance counselor
yeah theyre being very vague but simply saying it depends on your family income in order to qualify
Idk bc I did both sat and act for the 1st time for free
If your counselor doesnt know talk to the principal
yeah but where do i go to apply or whatever
my principal scares me
the county office should have some on standby so give them a call or smth
oh iâm scared to do that đ iâll ask my guidance counselor if he figured it out yet ig
aight
Do colleges look at your percentage or letter grade
i would say percentages because it shows the specific details and the letter grade isnt as specific
R u talking abt transcript?
On my school transcript it only shows letter grade
But then how do they recalculate gpa if they donât know percentages
well for my school, the percentages are part of a letter grade so like a 90-92 is an A- and a 93-97 is an A. so they recalculate gpa by translating ur number grade into whichever letter grade it falls under with its corresponding gpa point
does that make sense
sry that was a lot
Wait so if I have an 89.5 they will round it up?
But I thought teachers donât round or smth
no the system is supposed to round it up
not the teachers
but idk if ur school does that
Wait so what do teachers mean when they say they donât round or offer extra credit
Do you guys think itâs doable to take precalc and ap stats at the same time?
Or is it better to take ap calc and ap stats at the same time
precalc and ap stats will be easier than ap calc and ap stats
Ok thanks
