I’m taking AP CSP rn and it’s great
The dual enrollment program for senior years gonna be pretty sick
Not my cup of tea, but it definitely is for others
Definitely
One sec I can prob pull up my curriculum
@cinder gorge that would be my senior year schedule^
They haven’t given us to much info on the enrollment stuff but still pretty sick
That’s really cool
Lots of design
Good news is I can guarantee AP Calc BC by Junior year
School is broken up into different highschool academies
School of Design which has a focus on Architecture and Civil Engineering
School of Law and Justice
School of Sustainable Sciences
And then there’s 2 others that I don’t remember the name of
Wish I could lol
Ohh ok
Anyways tho students from the start of freshman year
Have there elective courses pre planned out based on the academy they are apart of
They get to pick one elective during junior year tho
Very cool
I live in a more rural area
So very few opportunities like that
Ah ok
It’s good cause it also means I’m surrounded by people who are kinda like me
Can’t relate
Similar to how when your in college the people in your major may have some similar goals
It’s cool just yk
I can’t take something like CS
Yes, I understand
That’s unfortunate
Since it doesn’t relate to my academy
Yeah Fs
Well, it just gives you more opportunity
To do things outside of school
Yeah def
That’s what I do lol cause my school has little to offer
Yeah
That’s what I do cause I hate my middle school
The counselor gave me first period math 3 years in a row even tho I have ADHD
That sucks
I had 1st period math once, but I can’t imagine what it was like for you
It sucks but I still managed straight As
Minus this one test on factoring which I got a B on
But everyone in the grade practically failed the test so I still had one of the highest scores in the grade
But still hate the fact I got 1st period math 3 years in a row
I just find that kind of ridiculous
That’s awesome
1 of many no one even sees
Understandable
i have it 6th this yr when the past 2 yrs i had it 2nd period but this yr we have rotating schedules so there’s days where i’ll have math first period which sucks for sure 🫤
Would it be worth to take Spanish 4 or just quit after 3
It depends. Do you like the language as a sub? Personally it's better to improve a language as much as you can when you're younger. Yet again it's better to take it since you already did it for 3 years, but If you don't plan to have like let's say extra practice on your own and would only do the classes at school then it's probably not worth it.
Not the biggest fan of it, but if it’ll be beneficial to college aps, I’ll take it for another year. I’m decent at the language, but I’m also taking a lot of aps next year so I’m worried that it’ll take up too much time
It's always a plus if your family speaks the language, saves a lot of hassle to find practice partners. Overall I'd say it's beneficial especially if you learn how to properly communication in it.
I have zero reason to take it other than it was a req by my school and for my college ap, I don’t plan on furthering it, or taking it anywhere else later in life
Oh come on knowing an extra language is never bad, especially Spanish which is quite the attractive language. Nonetheless, don't take it if you feel it will hinder your other AP classes. Follow well your heart and brain buddy.
My family is Chinese and I take Chinese classes on the side which is part of the reason why I place so little importance on furthering my Spanish.
do you speak chinese at home? or do your parents talk to you in english as well?
My parents only speak Chinese at home
I understand you :)
I do say I did drop a language for that similiar reason and I kinda regret it now.
Make your choice properly since it's easier to learn a language when you're younger yk
Give it some thoughts but if it really hinders you, drop it immediately
need help with chinese? : )
I can speak fluently, as its my first language, just can’t write or read that well lol
Never taken it before
hhh, same, but I've seen the test thig before
I took the HSK when i was in grade 6
Level 3. I think it's one of the easiest TvT
well, at least you are better than a lot of people
@a lot of people sobbing rn
l
How should I make my essays sound more professional.
try using more formal words in ur writing
and restrict the use of I
have longer sentences
use less to be verbs
and less of, for, and in
what is this class for?
technical/academic writing?
Hii I dont know if anyone does food tech but I have some PowerPoints I made if you would like to look at them! I have made one about vitamins and minerals and one about fibre and water
Does anyone take a physiology class here? I am very interested in that class and I want to know more about it and how difficult it is.
#SabbyIsAHypocriteAndModAbuse
Not even joking
It’s like actually kinda helpful
Ty you all so much!
Yup, mainly argumentetive/formal
i’m taking it and it’s heavy on memorizing terms. it’s not too difficult but u have to study a lot to do well on tests from my experience. i’m taking it at a cp/reg level btw and it combines anatomy & physio if that makes a difference
Hey,is there any med school student here?if so, can I ask what should I know before choosing med school?
Hi, I am a freshman in high school and my AP Human Geo Exam is coming up. Do you guys have an efficient way of studying for it? The test is on May 5
i want to major in environmental science, what ap classes should i take besides ap environmental science?
-
Make sure to use an outline so that u can have proper flow.
If it is about pragmatic topics...
a. Problem
b. Diagnosis
c. Solution
d. Impacts
If it is about principles or ideas...
a. Worldview/Perspective
b. Grounding/Parallel
c. Application
d. Implications. -
Use the journalistic questions to give context.
Who: the actors involved like who are the most affected, etc.
Where/When/What: to give basic knowledge
Why: This is your evidence
How: This is your main narrative -
Invest in grammarly premium.
-
Don't forget to conclude. Don't summarize in your conclusion instead end with the possible narrative for your actors using the impacts/implications.
Note: not research writing but more on argumentative essay.
Make a schedule and stick to it. Do practice tests and review core ideas of the course.
Explain it to kids that will make them interested or understand the topic...
Thank you so much!
Thanks I’ll try that
Gotchu dude! Don't forget to revise a lot tho
thoughts on ap spanish language and culture and human geography
ap spanish would prob be rly good to take bc it should knock out ur world language requirement if the school has it if u pass the ap exam and it’ll show colleges that u have decent proficiency in at least a second language which is a good skill to have these days so def take it & from what i heard aphug isn’t too difficult of an ap but if it’s ur first one it may seem daunting due to the change in rigor
thank you!
well spanish and english are my first languages
oh well then it should be pretty easy so that’s another benefit lol
(I was born speaking both because of family and im in a bilingual school) I also know italian and im learning french
hi guys does anybody take ap government and politics? I signed up for it for next year as a 10th grader and want to know if it is worth it?
Always good to have a good grasp on politics and how your country works
its a pretty easy class
tho i would say that it isnt ur average history class
thank u
np
omg same wait search "ap psychology at a glance" and it'll show u how much each unit is on the actual exam
and also im on the same unit sooooo
😭 maybe we can study together??
Memorize all the vocab and concepts through a study guide, but try to also understand how to apply them
If you’re decent at spanish, do AP spanish lang and AP hug is easy in general
Did anyone here major in computer science and have their high school classes?
Anyone know what classes I should take if I want to be a mechanical/ electric/ software engineer
Maths and science mostly
What are the differences between High School Physics and AP Physics?
Ap physics can get you college credits I believe
Yes, it can if you do well on the ap exam, but content wise are they similar?
AP is meant to be more rigorous, but I’d assume they’re going over similar content
Ah ok, thank you
Depending on the class, yes
There’s a lot of different AP physics classes 😅 which one specifically?
Ap physics 1 😂
Ohh yeah colleges don’t generally give credit for that one because it is algebra based
Ok so ap bio/chem would earn college credit right?
Yup
If you’re into math/engineering though, physics would likely be better
Ok thank you for your help
Of course
does anyone have earth science rocks/ mineral quizzes and tests for me to study?
yo how hard is ap lang
should i take ap bio
If you’re into it
ok!
If i wanna be a computer scientist should I still take ap pscholgy
So my GPA atlest will be high
Should I double up with precalc and ap stats or algebra 2 and ap stats?
precalc was a nightmare for my class, I'd recommend algebra 2 and ap stats
id say u take ap calc before taking ap stats
It depends on the grade that offers those classes
I can’t take ap calc before stats because I didn’t have enough room in my schedule to double up for alg 2 and geometry as a freshman next year, so I’ll have to take algebra 2 as a sophomore and pre calc as a junior in order to take ap calc as a senior, and I have to fit ap stats either in my junior or sophomore year.
That makes sense, thanks
oh ok
do it with precalc so yk more concepts then
ok listen. ima 7th grader trying tk get into harvard or yale. what classes do i take next year
Will you be entering high-school?
in '24
Wow, that seems late
Oh wait
What
That’s only two years from now
That seems wrong
yeah 😭💔
What choices do you get for eight?
thats why
12?
13
Anyway, it doesn’t really matter as long as you aren’t in highschool
Just explore your interests
i think you can take ap classes idk i asked, waiting for a response. im alr in advanced classes for all
Are there any prerequisites?
enjoy life until hs
my intrests: editing and tennis
Btw, if there are opportunities for getting highschool credit don’t take them. You will likely get better at school in highschool, so your grades will likely suffer if those carry over
oh no 😭💔
Dw, you’ll have plenty of chances in high
huh
Stuff you have to take before that class
You should work on completing as many of those
Like alg is a prerequisite to physics
ill be getting 3 credits for honor orchestra by the time im in hs
OHHHH
Oh, if it’s fine arts, then you probably don’t need to worry
You attending school in the U.S.?
nor an international student
yes
Then you should probably get the citizenship, but I’m not entirely sure what role that plays when colleges look at your stuff
So I used to have that issue
It depends on the college and what they consider you as
I’ve heard some colleges consider you as an international applicant which makes the competition tougher
But anyway, you can’t do much in middle school to make yourself appealing to colleges since they almost exclusively look at highschool and stuff you did in highschool unless you did something insanely impressive
Does your school have any special programs?
Like an honor society or student council?
uhhh sports?
Sports are a good idea
i tried for student council every year but ppl hate me 💔
Sports won’t do much at the middle school level I don’t think
Join your middle school team cause that way you can get in touch with high school coaches too
Try doing a joint campaign with someone popular
ok ok
You friends with any popular kids?
^
someone tried that and they got like disqualified
Or become friends
Really? That shouldn’t be right
nah 😭💔 everyone says im ugly and stuff
idk
Are your teachers generally well-liked?
Perhaps you should switch schools
Sounds like bullying
most of them
?
cant 💔
there are a few mean ones but ig they're ok
Oh I’m sorry
Did you mean to reply to my message?
Is stuco the only way to go?
Or is there another way
Anyway, if you have a good relationship with the well-liked teachers, then try to get them to have your posters in their rooms and stuff
And go for an unpopular position
^
hm i can try that
Maybe you could found your own club?
Do you have clubs?
welp ty cya
tyyy
Ofc
Yeah imo you should just join things that interest you because you gotta enjoy the experience
How’s Calculus for you guys? I’ve already chosen all my sophomore courses and on junior year I have three math pathways to choose:
Calculus, AP CS, and AP Stats.
I know it’s a year from now until I have to choose but I’m curious of anyones opinions
Are you taking precalc sophomore year?
Precalc is usually a prerequisite for calc, try to do it sophomore year, do algebra two online over the summer if you couldn’t do it freshman year
^
My school has a weird system where math courses are labeled like Math I, II, III and then on junior/senior year there’s a range of electives
I already know everything thru algebra III though
calc is kinda complicated but it isnt hard to pass the ap
Did you take it?
im taking it this yr
and I barely knew anything before the mock
Wow and as a sophomore
and i got a 4
That’s awesome
most of my class is freshmen 💀
Wow
hopefully i do well on the actual ap
I live in a rural area so that’s not happening lol and we don’t even have Calc bc anymore 💀
I’m sure you’ll do awesome
thx :))
oh that sucks
I mean it’ll work out in my favor so it’s ok
thats good
did u take precalc the previous year or no?? I'm just wondering cause i plan a skiping precalc
I did
oh ok, thxs!
Hello, I have a few questions regarding AP Computer Science Principles:
What do you learn? How does it compare to AP CS A? Can it be self-taught/self-studied?
Hi! You learn a lot about how a computer functions, how code works, and stuff like that. I can’t answer the second question, but it can definitely be self-taught or self-studied if you are motivated
Ok I expected it to be something like that and I’ll probably self-teach/study for it since my school does not offer it
Sorry for the late response lol
Dw and I would definitely recommend using another platform too
Project stem is decent
Sounds good
Do you think psychology is a good major?
If you do take it, what branch are you doing + what is typically learnt in a class
Is it not required for you?
It is required for our school
i have the option next year to take english spanish or both if i only pick one i get like a study hall what would someone reccomend
we have to take a calc readiness test and pass it if we want to go into ap calc ab and if u have a high enough grade in the math class that goes before precalc, then we're allowed to take it. I passed the readiness test but from what i can tell we only had to get around 12 correct out of the 45 questions so idk if it really helps determine if i should skip precalc/(am ready for calc ab) or not.
I think you should base it off the amount of time you have to study or if you don’t then you should be confident that you would be able to make enough time to study or review and what sources you have available to get help if you don’t understand anything
ok,thxs!!!
What classes should I take if I want to become a teacher?
Therapy classes
Ok
Rugby
Never know when you need to right tackle a chikdb
Oh also make sure to take the teacher training course
And take an anger management course
are you being serious?
lmao
No lol
See if there’s an education pathway at school
okay
I don’t think there’s specific classes
Okay
In 9th grade, i will be taking spanish 2, hons world lit, hons world history, hons bio in the earths system, ap csp, health and pe, uw(college offers it, available at my highschool) precalc. I had been thinking to switch ap csp with honors chemistary. Im not sure if this is a good descion for my future. Could someone tel me? Thanks so much!
This would be regarding the work load, and my ability to have time for extracirrculars
Honors chem would be nice as you would be able to do ap chem sophomore year.
Chemistry overall would be the most hardest ap ever in highschool though so if you can do well in ap which you would need to have a background of chem to do well then yeah
But youre sacrificing classes
So if the elective u pick will impact alot of your future then keep that elective
Thanks so much! It helps a ton! Have a good day/night
Thanks!
How do you get smart
Hard work.
not being on discord-
Haha
LMAO
This is a very late response but if you want my opinion you should take ap csp freshman year I took it freshman year and it wasn’t even that bad tbh it’s not that hard of an AP if you do the work and you’re interested in coding/computer science
It also gives you the experience of taking an AP class very early
What
Is it possible to go to summer school to get ahead on classes?
Like to take a new course in the summer
I’d recommend talking to your guidance counselor to find out what programs your district/school offers
I want to become an engineer in either the entertainment or medical field
Which classes should I look at
Ap bio, ap chem, ap calc
Yes, online charter schools are very good for this. I would recommend doing a math course in order to get ahead
I’m jealous man, our district doesn’t allow you to take courses over the summer bc it’s too short and they don’t think you can learn enough within that limited time
Can you try to start them during the school year? I started my algebra two in February and finished it in September
No problem, any help is much appreciated. Thanks for the response!
No prob 👍
Is it okay to take pre calc over summer?
Sure, if you’ll be able to do calc next year. It’s not too tough, as it’s a lot of algebra 2 stuff
It’s like a long term plan but I’m taking algebra 2 in freshmen year and pre calc in the summer of 9th grade
And I joined math class too inorder to better prepare
Is that a good idea?
I think if u get really high scores in algebra 2 u can request to be put into AP calc AB
I want to take AP calc bc
what u need pre cal
u don't
to avoid taking a pre calc summer course u could self study the additional chapters in bc and take the bc exam while enrolled in ab
huh
im sorry but this makes no sense
why would you go to ap cal bc just to go to ap cal ab
no i said
u could take ab
and take the bc exam instead of the ab exam
however u will have to self study the 2 bc chapters
oh
you do need pre cal
its a pre req for cal
wtf?
lol im near there
nah ur school is maxium tripping
bruh honors alg 2 was easy last year
even though it was online
that doesnt equal cal
lol ha 2 is barely related to cal (trig portions and log functions pretty much and thats it)
ye
In my school
You have to take pre calc
So is it worth it to take pre calc over summer when you know it already?
Should I take 3 APs in highschool coming as a freshman next year
Ap govt civics ap seminar ap bio
u probs shouldn't take 3 bc u wont have enough time to explore extracurriculars
u should still probably take 1 - 2
Alr thanks
What’s Honor classes?
Advanced level classes
Does that exist in college or no?
sometimes
Is double majoring worth it?
i’m pretty sure u need to take a bio class before taking ap bio idk if that’s just my school tho
my school doesn’t even have the other 2 so i wouldn’t know ab those 😭
Yeah there’s a program called super bio in my school and it’s when u take ap bio and honors bio in one year
I got invited to it
oh wow that seems difficult
Maybe it is idk lol. But like only 20 kids out of 400 were picked for it so maybe I can really do it
bio isn’t too difficult — idk ab ap tho — it’s just mainly memorizing terms so go for it! good luck
has anyone here have taken ap euro? thinking of taking it along with ap comp sci in my sophmore year and wanted to know how hard it is
Which AP science class shall I do if I want to major in computer science?
AP CSP, AP computer science A
I’m probably gonna take ap computer science a but it counts as a math credit at my school tho
Is paying extra for honor college worth it? Why or why not?
take cs a instead of principles
Why’s everyone saying computer science?
Because it is the best
you can make a ton off of it
i’m taking comp sci principles next yr B) even tho i have no clue how coding works
csp is good, since you dont know a lot of stuff regarding cs, it will tell you abt everything, ive heard that the class is too easy, takes lil effort
Yo how do u take ap comp sci a freshman year
I think the only prereqs are alg 1 and comp sci essentials
it depends tho
I'm a freshman now and im taking it next year but i haven't done cse and they still let me do it because I'm "in a higher math" (idk if honors alg 2 is high for a freshmen but ill take it)
What if computer science got down hill by lowering its salary and increasing the demand?
Tech companies are not going to cut corners when it comes to salary. The difference between amazing and average is 50:1. Steve Jobs himself said this in an interview.
Unless you are in contract and not a full time position, you will get paid well for the local economy
Why is chemistry so hard
It was easy in freshman year during honors for me
and tbf i took it last yr so i was online most of the time
I took ap Chem and got a 2 lmao, that was during Covid year
If I had a normal year, I probs got a 4
dang that’s tough 😭 it’s the first yr they’re running the class at my school so we’ll see how it goes
There is one unit that I loathe in ap Chem, wanna guess which one?
it’s the same teacher as my honors chem teacher so it should run well, ironically she was my teacher her first yr ever teaching so now i’ll have her again as her first yr teaching ap lmao
stoichiometry?
Nah, that was easy af, just simple maths
Kinetics and Equilibrium
That unit was stupid
My teacher just talked about some stupid WW2 ammonium shit
Stoich, molecular geometry and bonding were the easier units
that unit had me struggling last yr, and we had to do it all on the computer so it took like 20 extra mins figuring that out so my teacher extended the time i’d have to finish the test
yeah that unit was difficult too 😭
Isn’t stoich just balancing equations and masses and conserving energy
chem is like hard but once u get it it’s fun
What’s so hard about that
brainded teacher
ngl i forget most of the class i just remember hating that unit
Chem is the only class in which…im more excited for the labs
maybe bc it was tedious bc of all the steps
we did like 3 labs bc of covid 💀 but i was in chem club too so i got to do some more experiments at least
hoping in ap chem we’ll do a lot
My favorite lab is the ethanol rocket
they were hard tho bc she made us write out our own steps for it lmao
Basically, we laced a water bottle inside with ethanol, put a lighter, and boom, launched it across the football field
We needed to sigh permission slips and shit
oh i think i remember that
my teacher did it at the end of the yr i think
it was lit
but she just demonstrated it herself so we didn’t get to actually do it
halfway?? ap tests are this week and next week tho
I had macro and stats today
oh nice
im gonna hate senior yr probably 😭 i signed up for 3 aps & w college apps & stuff it’ll be horrid
My school is dumb, we had to take micro first semester and macro second semester, so I might get a 5 on macro since it’s recency effect but get a 1 on micro since I last learned that shit like December
dang that’s tough
Prob had to do with lack of teachers to teach all of it
Makes sense especially now
same here
love ur username
thoughts on ap human geo
which ap art does photography fall under
should i take algebra 2 over the summer ? thx
i did it with school, there are key things you want to go over with teachers, I'd say yes, but dont finish quickly, take time to understand on how to do things, there is a decent amount of topics you will learn in algebra 2 from 1, at least at my school
that was poorly worded, but I'd say go for it, also if you can do those stuff, that would be insane, i never do work over the summer except workout
does anyone know
what ap art does photography/ photo editing fall under
sorry idk
What are your thoughts on elementary algebra?
they're both considered post-calc classes, so I would assume that they would require you to know calculus
Has anyone taken the BC exam? I know all the material but I'm taking it through self study and I know AP frq's have weird things that you need to write that teachers usually go over, does anyone have any tips for that?
dicrete math can use calculus, but isn't centered around it. It's very proof based and you need a pretty solid proficiency in math, so if you hadn't taken calculus I probably wouldn't take it but thats up to you. Most courses will probably require calc2
that's just the algebra you need before before calc (or any other higher level alg course) - it covers your basic high school algebra
do you mean like writing justifications? if you're using MVT, IVT, etc., you generally want to state the conditions before actually using it--same goes for integral test and other series convergence tests that have conditions
if its an optimization problem, and you need to justify that say f(x) has a rel. min at x=c, you could say that its since 1. f'(x) = 0 and 2. f'(x) goes from - to + at x=c
^ similar ideas go when you need to justify particle motion problems
another thing to note is that you don't need to fully simplify purely numeric expressions -- this saved me points before especially when dealing with riemann sums
(however, if said riemann sum value is needed to interpret a second part of the question, you should probably simplify)
ah alright great, thank you!
all of that is super helpful, in ap stats they had that too where the right answer was only part of it.
What if you take every unique courses that one college offers?
Just make sure it follows your interests
Why not take all unique courses?
If you want
But make sure it’s doable and you’re not overworking yourself
Wait are you in college or hs
I agree I had a lot of fun in that class
Idk what aphg class you guys had. For me it was just a ton of notes and questions with multiple correct answers, but only one being marked correct.
yeah idk my teacher was really good and made it fun but that goes for all classes it depends on like who teaches it
oh nooo 😭
I doubt I would have liked the class even if I had a good teacher tho
yeah I get that
My brother and their year group had a vote for the new house group and they picked the most abhorrent name; now I'm scared to go to their school next year- 💀
So I might go in that class 😔
I can't remember but it's something like Bath at the beginning 😰
Hellooo, just wondering, is ASB worth the time?
What did you end up taking?
im in 8th grade and I actually have some similar goals to this
Only differences really being im taking AP Comp Sci Principles and AP Comp Sci A right now and my goal is to get Multi Variable Calc and Linear Algebra by junior year
so I can take differential equations my senior year
did you do well in them?
Ah damn
That had to be really tough
Damn im sorry man
but your graduating now so at least you made it yk
see thats great man
ok not your best work but colleges dont need to see that
lol
SEE thats great man
when do you know about college admissions and what not btw
Thats awesome tho, near perfect score
Great, what college?
you scored perfectly in math
some students could only dream of doing that
thats great man
hey in the end your still going to college
and thats all that matters
lol
I get that a lot(Mainly because im a massive fucking nerd)
nope
I am very very very white
lol
but not every day you get an eighth grader asking tthere parents
for an AP Comp Science A Textbook
And a Geometry Honors Textbook
nice
respect white dudes here are usually stupid
lol
Nah but always remember, the college you go to wont matter when it comes to employment
in fact in almost all cases its suggested you put your education at the bottom of your resume
what matters more is work experience
So try to get involved in that on the side while your in college @modern niche
gl with college tho man
im ((1+tan(a))/(1+cot(a)))/(tan(a)) indian no cap
fr tho
not me having pre-calculas books
hahhaa
im also 8th grade
but im indian
lmao
That’s actually what my school did
They combined the 2 and turned it into “Math Analysis”
Damn yall lucky i gotta do pre calc to be able to do calculus
😢
Plus alg ll is a prerequisite for pre calc
same
Lets hope I can persuade the teacher so i can skip alg ll
Wether is a test or summrr school
LOLLL
Same I’m doing precalc rn 💀
then why is my grade in precalc a whole letter below my alg 2 grade 💀
Lol Precalc is free
not just me cuz the average on our tests are in the 50s usually 💀
my teacher sucks tbh
even when i study i fail
nah it’s fine
i’ll just have to try going after school legit everyday 💀
I hate classes
same
Same tbh
But idk how people mess up
Such a stupid class though😢 universitys that i wanna go doesnt even requiered me to do calculus
Just 4 year of stem classes
i would do better if it wasn’t for the fact that my teacher makes half the questions stuff he didn’t teach us in class 💀
Ap teacher fitting unit 6-8 to one day
Speaking from past experienced😢
oh damn-
yea but not everyone is good at learning that stuff by themself
they gotta teach it some where
my school allows you to skip pre calc if u get a really highscore in honors algebra 2
sports require a gpa above something
so you need to continue to take classes
ig
school boards cant just take trig out of the curriculum
Geometry sucks bruh shit is too easy it would’ve been better if geometry was a summer course or somethin
so much useless memorization
for stuff that isnt going to help you with anything
angle addition postulate so helpful
Oh hell naw bro is the next Jesus or something
Do your parents compare you to him a lot?
the sports will help a lot
but taking calc bc in freshman year wont
hes a sweat bruh
yea
yea
and they dont really care about post ap classes either
a lot of people dont have the opportunity to take post ap classes like multivariable calculus and stuff
so they dont benefit the people who did
Yea
He could go to a community college and take multivariable calc
but itll only make
college easier
wont favor him in admissions
a lot of people dont have the opportunity
to take post ap classes
for whatver reason
so
it wont help that much if at all
True however it does show he’s willing to go passed his peers and find ways to challenge himself
yes definitely
Also taking higher classes at a community college or duel enrolling at a local university would better prepare him for the college experience
should i do ap gvt civics in 9th or 12th
Could be beneficial to take your first AP in 9th
im doing 3 aps in 9th
i can pick ap gvt or ap human geo for 9th
Damn high five man, I’m only taking two
thats still good
Prepping for the 2 rn thro
Tho*
Not actually taking the classes
Self studying for both since they don’t let us take AP Classes as freshman’s in my school
ah rip
Yeah
im trying to do more but my counselor thinks its risky and its so annoying
But self studying AP CSP and AP CS:A
Which interests you more?
human geo but for the sake of my gpa and to be free for 12th im thinking about ap gvt
cause in 11th and 12th college look more at ur gpa then
and u want to be free so u can do internships and what not
True
human geo is easiest ap so i might do in 12th
I wouldn’t say it’s the easiest
Tbh AP Environmental Science may be the easiest
@stray trellis
It’s pretty easy
I mean there’s people who legit just learn it in like a week
And then score a 5
Keep in mind students taking AP Physics are usually actually prepared for it
Which is why they take it in the first place
Me having ap physic as my first physics class
💀
Its not too hard just some all nighters here n there
well
will it hurt my college applications if i get a bad grade on apwh. i dont plan to major in history
The exam or the gpa for the class
You aren’t required to give colleges that, so no
rlly just not prepared for tmrw
I would only list it if you get a 4 or 5
ok but that would mean i would have to take world hiotry in college right?
I’m not the person to ask ab that
Pretty sure you’re only exempt from the class in college if you have a 4 or 5 anyway
I did not
oh
thats legit how my physics teacher thinks like, man gets pissed at star wars
or any movie tbh
lmao only good part is when i get good grades back
Yes
AP phys def hard, my friend takes it (who usually gets 4.0) didnt get 4.0 bc of physics
that takes forever, not in physics in my case, but in pre calc
The more advanced stuff is the coolest part tho
chem is my worst sci subj rn
how tf u so interested in everything, im all impassive, and dont wanna do anything
I want to know everything so I can be an eternal pain in the ass to everyone around me
Jk, but I do want to know everything about those things
lmaoooo
If you know how the universe works, then you can figure out everything else
Predict the future
It’s just what I want
o
Part of my personality
Uh no it’s not
Not by Oxford or Merriam
Which are the two main dictionaries I know of
webster??? idk
Yeah, Merriam Webster
i wish my hs offered aps
freshman year
would make it more fun
all my freshman classes are meh
fr
Predicting the future isn’t useful for survival?
How hard is a high school computer science class? I am taking next year and I would like to know some study tips for that class
AP or just normal CS
Normal
Shouldn’t be to difficult
You’ll probably just be introduced to some basic CS history
Object oriented programming
Writing basic Java
And stuff like that
Thanks that’s good to know
Your welcome
I think a lot of hs don't offer aps for freshmen because of the massive jump ahead. They probably would make an expectation if you're ahead of everyone or in classes already that would place you in aps anyway
You can self study APs tho
Which is what I’m doing
Taking my first 2 AP Exams next year
That's true.
if im majoring in something computer science related, what IB classes should i be taking??
and should i take them as HL or SL
Stem classes
Physic 1,2 and c,chem, bio and obv comp sci ap A
Math course such as calc that are needed as a prequisite in comp sci to some univ
do i need bio or chem for comp sci??
Well your going to end up learning in during Highschool anyways
I’d suggest focusing on classes that have a focus on problem solving @hazy wind
well in IB u have to pick 2-3 science out of 4 so like comp sci physics bio and chem i have to let 1 or 2 go and idk if i need chemistry that much but im letting bio go for sure
Hmm idk
okay its ok thank u
What if a 9-year old goes to college?
It’s happened before
But those nine year olds are usually geniuses
Mhm
Lol hi
Only thing I’m curious about is how employments gonna work for this kid @cinder gorge
Like after he gets his PhD and med degree
He might still not be old enough to get a job
He's gonna do his own stuff
Publish studies
Prob
Ig
He said he wants to develop artificial organs
Idk
Chem is more math based
So that will help you
okay thanks
Gl with your IB Courses tho
do you have to take AP classes in order to earn credit? Or is it okay if you just do the test part and still earn credit? Also will it still affect your grade?
Like will it become weighted GPA still
you can not take the test, but in order to get credit you'll need to take the course
thabk youu
Should I take chemistry honors over the summer so my sophomore year I can take AP chemistry and not have AP Chem in my junior year along with APUSH and AP Calc BC
if you can be self directed enough and actually get the stuff done, then yeah, thats a great idea. just be sure of your own abilities before taking on the challenge
Yeah idk abt chem honors especially in such a short time and quickly jump into ap chem
You must know the foundation really quickly during summer
Do you think it would be possible some of the upper class men I ask say it might not be a good idea not sure tho
Theyre right though all it matters would be you trying your best
Every day self study and know the foundation in your free time
I’m gonna put the work in if I have to I’m a little worried about it though. What would you recommend self studying?
has anyone here taken ap bio/ap chem? would you recommend taking either one? was it rewarding?
Ap chem is fucking hell@gaunt forum
I enjoy it very fun and alot of cool ppl
Luckily I got a teacher thats actually interested to teaching🤯
But YOU NEED TO TAKE HONOR CHEM TO DO AP CHEM AFTER
Is like a must
Idk abt ap bio im going to take it next year
ap bio u need to take a bio class to take it
at my school at least but it’s prob the same anywhere
from what i heard bio is more memorization and chem is more application so depends on ur learning style
also depends on which fits ur career & interests the best
Well makes sense im doing two ap sci class
Bio n physic 2
Senior can be all physic c which is two damn credit
i kinda wanna do 2 but i’ll prob struggle
bio & chem
wow two? my school doesn’t even offer that tho just phys 1 lol
Mhm i will do physic medical based and then engineering based physic c that I hope colleges care
Because of much money im going to spend for princeton review textbooks
at my school as long as you have taken a chem/bio class you can take ap chem/bio
i’m taking honors bio next year so your insight helped a lot
What’s the differences between honor classes in high school and honor classes in college?
What is honor
.
honors is basically just above regular classes
in between ap and regular
But what does it mean in college?
There’s no AP version?
An honours degree typically refers to a higher level of academic achievement at an undergraduate level. You can distinguish an honours degree by the presence of the word “Honours” or “Hons” in a qualification. Examples include: Bachelor of Arts (Honours) or BA (Hons).
It normally takes four years to complete, if you are studying full-time.
I studied full-time and took 3 years to complete two associate degrees. If I do it for bachelors degree, it’ll probably take me 6 years.
What are the benefits?
I mean it would most likely look good but you’d also probably learn more advanced topics
If you want to get any higher education, that's is needed.
He is right.
Well
You can really just get a normal bachelor
And then pursue higher education
Are you saying it’s not normal for me to take 6 years to complete bachelors degree?
Even as a full-time student?
No. Its four years. Why do you need six years?
Well when I saw someone who gets admitted to Harvard in 2020. It says they’ll be the class of 2026.
No. I think you are wrong.
Wrong?
Yes.
How? What if it takes me 6 years as a full-time student?
Yeah he’s wrong…
The Harvard class of 2026 are the students who were accepted this year
Right.
Look I’m not trying to be rude but you really gotta put more research into this stuff @left kernel
There’s millions of online resources that are accessible with the click of a button using google
I did.
This is contradictory when I see it does typically take 4 years but some researchers don’t.
Yes. But, if you take gap year, it will take more time.
Plus I only changed my major once so it should take me 5 years.
True
Didn’t take gap years into consideration
I did not take any gap years.
Are you in highschool or college rn btw
Keep getting confused by that lol
Yes. college, but I didn’t see a tag for Associates 😂
Hey, I am thinking one thing that he is already doing bachelor. But, he does not know this.
Huh? Sorry just don’t understand the message.
I did the research and it says it VARIES.
He is already in college. But, he is not aware of that.
Community College.
Oh, I got it.
It actually took me 2.5 years for a full-time associate degrees.
But 3 years to get two.
Because I planned to take different courses.
I thought it would be 4.5-5 years.
Since I only need 60 more credits.
I don't know about that, because I am international student.
Did @daring jay just do a FACE REVEAL?
Could care less tbh
Same.
Uhhgg wish I had gotten more involved in Extracurricular activities this year
You can in high school… I think.
Starting to write a resume just to have one
Yeah duh
Already planning to join student gov
Robotics team
Why don’t you ask your counselor?
Well in 8th Grade and keep in mind school ends in a month
My college term ended already.
Anyways next year I’m gonna get more involved
Robotics team
Student gov
Coding club
Just getting some basic engineering electives Will help me major in civil engineering
CS is only a hobby to me
Sure I enjoy it and love it, but it’s not something I want to turn into my job.
@left kernel^
Great.
Also it doesn’t really matter
If the ECs make me look like a CS Major
As long as I’m actually passionate about them, follow through with them and get a leadership position in at least one they’ll still hold the same affect
Are you going to try to be a valedictorian?
I’m going to try but keep in mind I’m going to my counties magnet school which means it pulls about 10 people from every town in the county
So it’s highly selective
And not only that but it means it’s going to be different from middle school where I could say I was the smartest in the grade
Now I’m surrounded by all the other kids who were the smartest in their grade
So I’m going to attempt to be my schools valedictorian or salutatorian but it’s unlikely.
AP means college course
which means all the general classes are technically AP level
yea
Advanced Placement
AP version in COLLEGE.
I meant if there’s AP version in college not in high school.
How would that work?
Are you in college?
Is ap lang, world chem pre calc and electives a manageable load to have time for extra curriculars?
i took those this yr and chem last yr and yes it’s manageable but precal is really difficult from my experience but it depends a lot on ur teachers
lang isn’t a lot of homework it’s more so writing a lot of essays and little to no reading and the exam is more based on ur skills rather than memorizing stuff
Alright thank you
np!
Yeah that's not how it works
Has anyone ever heard of the AP endorsed “NEWL” exam, as mentioned here:
I’m looking to take the Russian exam for college credit, but I wanted to know if anyone has experience with it, and could give me any feedback.
(Please ping me on response)
AP endorses the NEWL and recommends them to our member institutions to use for credit and placement in the following world languages: Arabic, Korean, Portuguese, and Russian.
Hey everyone I am looking for people who could help me make a research project about economics
So, has anyone here taken AP lang
I'm taking the AP Lang test tmr actually lol
gl
ty
Has anybody taken chemistry honors? If so, please share some tips with me
lots of equations
i need help with Spanish 1
please . any study tips for tu commands and present / past tense ? my final is on monday and i’ve just about done all I can
do a lot of practicing to help nail down how to do the different equations & watch marissa maribel & organic chem tutor religiously
any tips for ap physics? Taking it next year and debating on whether to spend my energy over summer getting comfortable with that or pre-calc
you gotta specify
AP Physics 1, 2, Mech, or E&M
If i were you i'd take Phyiscs C and not take physics 1 if ur school offers that
that’s the only one my school offers TvT
ask in there
kk thank you
There are some resources in SpanishDict that helped me alot
In present and past tense
Should I take stats or calc senior year? I will also be taking AP Bio and Anatomy which are two hefty courses
I have a question. Should i take AP language and composition? I heard it’s really hard and I’m like an okay-ish writer, but the other option in our school is normal (not honors) comparative lit. Lang would help in the long run but it would prob bring my gpa down, and I’m not pursuing an English career
Definitely, even if you risk bringing your gpa down lang teaches you how to write good essays that will help majorly once you get to college
Professors grade essays brutally
Im screwed
Im gonna take A dual cred Speech class cause im trying to get real comfortable with presentation speaking for my life in business
be more confident and stop shaking while you present
for those who took apcsp and cs50 whtas the differnce between the two since they are both intros to programming courses
wdyd when your school only has 8 aps and you've taken one this year and plan to take one next year and then in senior year you take 3-4...does taking 5 (or possibly 6 idk if i wanna suffer through ap physics) out of 8 of the offered classes look good or does the low number offered look bad
Take all 8.
D:
try to take as many as you can or related to what you're interested in. If that's not all of them, that's fine. Use that time and explore other ECs that relate to it
how yall taking so many ap classes im struglling with the normal stuff
They just want to see you're trying basically
Same, this year I took ap world and I have a B+
Idk how I’m gonna survive next year taking ap lang, ap chem, and apush
Anyone got advice for AP Physics 1 and AP Stats, taking them both next year and I'm gonna study for them over the summer along with other things like SAT and precalc and stuff
im dumb
Thanks!!
np
Hey guys, is there anything good I can do in my 9th grade holidays? I have 17 days, any ideas?
other than completing holiday homework study more and harder with focus, and try to get the basic of what you want to be in the future and just understand it a little
@merry flint maybe explore some new hobbies?
I am not particularly liking anything, I still don't know how I feel when I like something tho🙂
Hobbie? Hmm, that's a good idea, but as I said I don't feel attracted to particularly anything
Any idea to.find out one?
@merry flint umm there are endless hobbies that could be considered but you might have interest in any field like art or computers , litreture I mean it totally depends on you interests
Apush is mostly fine esp if u even partially remember what’s happening. The part that messed me up was writing dbqs. I’m the worst at interpreting things clearly so ive barely gotten by with a 2.5
https://forms.gle/fog3byVCTzr8AZET6
Plz do this it’ll help me with my project
Will colleges care if I got an 89 in Apwh, but last semester I had a 91. This was my only b this semester. So close to an a but no more assignments. How bad will it affect my chances
I’m in 9th btw
um hey i have this project and if you'd fill it out it would be rlly helpful and it's anonymous
Damn last week project day
hey I don't think it'll be too bad but I'm not too sure, I'm also a 9th grader but from what I know most colleges like to see improvement if you aren't meeting the grades but in your case it genuinely doesn't seem that bad
yeah 💀 need to get those responses in yk
I had one b last semester but that one was in rotc because I’m not fit enough😭😭. But rotc isn’t in my academic gpa
Man i remember those days💀
So it didn’t matter as much
After ap exam and boom project
lol so true
