I applyed to uni's the first month of senior year
Don't wait until winter to apply is all I have to say
oh i see thank you for the info
I am going to take APUSH, AP Stats, and AP bio in tenth grade. I will take AP Precalc, AP Chem, AP Lit, AP Computer Science 1, and AP economics in grade 11. In grade 12 I will take AP Physics, AP Calc, AP Lang, AP Computer Science 2, and AP Government. Is this enough AP classes, or should I take more
It’s 13 AP classes in total
honestly
if you can distribute more APs to 10th grade
and lighten them on gr 11 its perfect
i’m a pretty good figure skater. i also like literally most sports like basketball and soccer. i know 3 languages fluently and i’m learning my 4th right now. and i like traveling
oh ok ty i’ll check it ou!
Mhm you can become an athlete then but it also depends on where you live not that much but still and what subs do u like
i don’t like computer science at all like i just can’t figure that stuff out. i’m not a fan of math but i am pretty good at it. English is okay. Art is really fun if it’s with clay and building stuff even tho i’m not the greatest. history is okay, science is pretty fun if it’s biology but if it’s math related like physics i don’t like it
You can major in architecture for example they design stuff like design a musium or something..yk like if that's a thing there yk what I mean trust me I've benn through this like almost I k this thing well enough how it feels to be lost
Don't chose a major you don't like it's gona be hard and you'll feel exhausted
Hi! Want to make your college application stand out? We're offering exclusive webinars with admissions experts from Ivy League schools and top counselors from Harvard and Berkeley. These sessions have helped many students get into top colleges.
Interested? It takes less than 5 minutes to join: https://tally.so/r/3N0oRW
yeah ty. i find being like a doctor or working what that typpa stuff kinda fun and interesting. the only problem is the extra years of schooling which idk if i can handle and if my family can afford
Where do you live ?
Which country bruh
united states of america lol
lol as a pre-law I know the feeling
if you don't want to go to med school you could still become like a physical trainer or as a nutritionist
prolly make bank too
Oh gosh you scared me
do those just require baschelor
I think so
o okay
you might have to do some courses for certifications after college but those will take like half a year max
alright thank u
If u go into sports medicine there is chance you have to spend more time in college due to it being in the medical field classes like AP bio or AP chem could be useful
thanks yeah i’ve done bio in middle school but nothing else. i am taking honors chem tho this coming year
Should I take Ap Lit or English 4 honors if I am thinking of going into Biology in College?
I am now a senior in HS
Wut is English 4?
Is like your traditional English class but with the honors credit instead of academic
Like you still read Frankenstein
And other novels
My school didn’t let me take any of the 4 classes I was interested in taking because of space
No other classes seem fun and they’d hurt my weighted gpa
Same had to self study them
Should I try to convince my school to let me have a free period?
Or would that look bad to colleges?
wouldn’t exactly look bad
so long as the effort brought forth excellent results
Hopefully my school lets me
I’ll try to study for like 6 Ap exams in that period along with some contest stuff
Ty
Is graduating with like 8 or 9 APs good
its good
depends on the scores 👍
that too
Hellooo
Web development falls into what category of major ? ( Is it CS ?)
Is this a good schedule for incoming sophomore?
English 10 Honors
Algebra 2 Honors
Chem 1
Physics 1
Intro to Engineering
AP CSP
Spanish 4
very solid
my sopomore courseload was generally the same except I did pre-calc instead of alg2 and chem h
Thanks. Chem H?
same minus three of the classes
took physics last year
but yeah its a nice schedule
guys
if i take hardest classes my senior year in the start of the year can i get into ivy leagues like harvard or stanford or yale like if i take like Ap physics C, Ap calculus 2, Ap literature and composition, Ap us history 1, Ap macroeconomics, Ap Biology
is it possible?
like all the hardest Ap classes ever
getting 5s matter as well
aps aint gonna get you in anywhere bud
the amount of APs you take is a very low factor
overall gpa and essay/ecs are significantly more important
what's ur sat
oh im starting sophmore year september 6
havent done it yet but i wana get atleast above 1550
if you really wanted ivies you should've taken the sat already
wait what
yea
oh
wow
thats impressive
should i ask my counselor if i can do it even if i did it late
gpa isn't gonna be too hard in soph
goes up to trig
would they still be impressed if i get above a 1550 like above that
but it's rlly not that hard
primarily algebra 2 concepts
ohh ok
reading is a fair bit harder
i havent learned algebra 2 yet
not rlly a 1550+ is considered standard
for t20s
like I said
im planning on skipping algebra 2 and doing pre calc junior year
ecs/essay are the differentiator
What are the t20?
how do i learn algebra 2
Take it in school
i had a 1600
it does boost
simply down to psychology a 1600>1590
despite being a negligible difference
how many times can i redo the sat?
like if i dont get a score i like can i do it like as many times i wnat
want*
you can do it as many times as you want
U should film a transformation vid where you turn into an sat god from a tiny little earthling
go big green
as many times as you want
I had a buddy who took it 18 times
aight let me type this shit out
my hard stats were a 3.85/4.29 which is kinda middling for ivies but I had a 1600 which partially saved me
as for actual ecs
I'm a polisci/hist majors so these were very liberal arts focused
I was on the lacrosse and water polo teams for four years, varsity both
I was also on the robotics, speech and debate, model un, and journalism teams
won some pretty good awards, some at the national level
additionally I published a series of books, three of which were through stanford university press
I also won multiple writing and essay comps(think john locke, scholastic, etc)
and I researched under a stanford prof and had it published in a very reputable journal (natgeo, scholastic, some niche ones)
😨
I also started a nonprofit dedicated to my local history museum, raising over 100,000 dollars worth of funds
and had like 1600 volunteering hours
Nvm gang my ass is NOT getting into a t20
dude r u serious
lemme tell you smth
during freshman yr I had a c and 5 bs
I didn't do jack shit
if I can make it into an ivy than you (and every other tryhard in this server) can
yea the AO was feeling sympathetic that day
The self roasting is diabolical
They said give this man a libarts education NOW
NEEEOWWWW
too many stem tryhards and not enough liberal arts mfs these days
every single one of my friends applied for some subsect of engineering
That’s it I’m giving up maths major and majoring in music
it was mildly entertaining seeing them go batshit over being rejected from purdue
Bros going to Dartmouth and they’re not
“Nahnahnah boo boo I got in and not you” ahh scenario
Would doubling in math by taking geometry and algebra 2 be hard as a freshman?
Depends on your skill level
If you are Terence Tao no
If you failed alg 1 yes
I’m pretty good at math I got 98th percentile on my state exam
Ok then you’ll probably be fine
You may have to put some extra time into it
But
If you want to that probably works
no
Yuh it’ll be pretty hard
Then again I am taking ap precal lol so just know that khan academy helps more with geo rather than alg 2
Thanks
yessirrr thats the plan ima do that
im determined to make harvard
many people do that. like others said it depends on you, if u did well in algebra 1 then 2 shouldnt be too much of a problem. study on khan academy it can really help
not really
however
most of the time it's alg2/trig and not alg2/geo
I did geo in 8th, then alg2/trig frosh
Like the rocky training montage
And it's just u grinding the books and practice tests
But make it look comical thr way u study
Ex. Doing curl ups and one of ur friends is holding the SAT book u've been studying
I did geometry since 6th grade
In the United States, geometry is typically taught in the 9th grade
Oh cool!
So like math 9
And alg 1 is math 10
Well no
Oh is alg 1 math 8
I don't know about public middle schools, but at my middle school, we were given the option to take geometry alongside Algbera 1 in eighth grade
When I transitioned to high school, I noticed that many students took Geometry in 9th or 10th grade alongside whatever math class they are enrolled in
So, many advanced students that you will find here have taken Algebra 1 and Geometry in 8th grade
geomtry for me was 6th grade due to ICSE school
india
btw
I mean my curriculum mixes all parts of math together in levels appropriate to the grades of math
guys is it ok for me to self study two aps outside of school, but not taking any aps in school
cause imma self study ap csp and ap microeconomics
I took geometry in 7th :)
but geometry was the worst
I didn't understand anything
but never used anything related to proofs since
on GOD I hated that shit
proofs are the bane of my existence
man i loved proofs
Only real ones remember SAS and AAS.
It was alright.
maturing is realizing real proof problems are fun
hello
okay so i just read somewhere that the college you go to doesn't really matter for engineering as long as it's abet-accredited; is that true?
yes
engineering is a hard science, it's not like you'll get taught differently at one place compared to another
you could go to wichita state for aerospace or mit for aerospace and learn the exact same stuff
ah, so it's the peer-group and the networking opportunities that really set certain colleges apart
yeah, the prestige and alumni and networking is what sets apart the two colleges
it's why harvard is better than your local community college even though you might get taught the same things
I will say that that prestige and networking bs doesn't matter too much for engineering
but that was one of my queries though- does going to a lower-prestige college affect you professionally (for engineering)
ahh
that makes things clearer
yup
thanks, you've helped me a bunch
mhm
I use proofs all the time but my English teachers were insistent on annotating and I’ve not once annotated since then…
really when did you use proofs?
Also lol annotations are often pretty useless
whats HL?
IB math hl does induction, contradiction, direct proof, etc
I love it
I was honk shooing and snore mimimimiming
LOL
Has anybody taken into to anthropology, psychology and sociology, how hard was it and would it be usefull for future doctors
From what i heard its not very hard if u did good in algebra 1
In 8th
No, on average A1 is taking in 9th
And on average, those two classes are undertaken in tandem
Tandem?
nah
usually its a1 geo a2 precalc
what?
half of the freshmen that i knew are taking them in conjunction
That's your school
my fault for making my assumptions
Most schools don't do that
For anyone entering the IB DP program, would these be considered good classes?
Is this schoology?
Yea
I'm honestly scared for Lang & Lit cuz I'm good at writing but its so freaking hard
Schoology is a certifed classic
Is it fine if i take no aps this year
But i self study them instead
Cause in my new school, ap csp has filled up and i did world history over the summer
AP csp is super easy and honestly not even worth it. Most colleges won’t even take it, and all of the course work is on code.org. I wouldn’t bother taking it if you’re not getting a school grade since it has AP weight and just taking it for the AP credit is not worth.
Ok so should i not self study
Just wait till junior year?
Ok
Im thinking of self studying ap microeconomics
Is that good?
I heard its ez
Bro ap world and csp are the only aps they offer for sophmores
Don’t self study any. Colleges don’t take the majority APs if you want to get out of taking college courses.
But having weighted classes like for a school grade is so much more beneficial
Schools will look for rigor like taking APs, they couldn’t give less of a shit about the tests themselves
But doesnt self studying show initiative and stuff
Like AP LIT and Lang will get you out of 1 class in college
Not really, they see the score but that’s about it
Oh
If you can’t take APs and don’t have rigor through your classes this year, I would focus on other things
Like maybe a science fair
Or art portfolio
Oh ok.
Or YOUR interests that can be MEASURED
Ty bro
Anytime, are you a rising sophomore
Ye
I didn’t take any APs or do anything my sophomore year, kinda just got high with friends and partied a bit, but try enjoying that year and go all out junior year
And senior
Not really, just get all As and don’t burn yourself out
What’s ecs?
Extracurriculars
I did varsity tennis and science Olympiad since 8th
So just be a normal person and don’t stress about college just yet
Ok thx
👍
Can anyone tell me what the statistics lab is ?like what do you have to do
Got high in sophomore? Damn
I dont think he meant that
If he did well…
Oh lol it sounds like that but ok
Whats ur advice on my question
Sophomore was my struggle year 😭
Hoping that my junior year will be better 🙏
?
is ap physics 1 really as hard as everyone calls it/
Hey guys, lets say i wanted to apply to a college with a requirement of 4 history classes, but i already took AP Human Geography my freshman year. Will this count as a traditional history class and pass out the requirement?
I think by history you mean social study classes, which APHug is.
Yeah
How hard is intro to anthropology, psychology and sociology
It can vary on the subjects that u will have
Most of them can be challenging
But whatever subject it is never give up on urself and try ur best.I am sure u will make it big
No I mean History
No idea.
APHUG is human geography 💀💀💀
I don't think my school even offers 4 History classes -
Listen the history APs are US, World and Euro
Yea?
Yes, but apparently I need 4 History classes
So if I take just those 3 theoretically I should be fine right
I always thought it was social studies but ig not 🤷♂️
it is its just not history
Yes it is
But it's not a history class
No, I thought college requirements asked for social studies, not history.
Is self studying aps good
My school only offers two aps which are csp and world history
Csp is filled up and i did world history over the summer
Im planning on self studying ap micro and csp
Im i doing the right thing or should i try something else
In ur case, I would say yes
Yeah shame u can only take 2 APs
They offer a lot of engineering courses tho
Yeah my school offers a good ammount, so for me self studying is kind of a waste of time
If I needed to choose between AP Economics and AP European History, which one should I choose ?
Ap euro
Is grade 12 nutrition hard
should i take ap world history or honors in freshman? i heard the ap class teacher doesnt rlly teach and prepare u for tests tho
choose the one ur interested in
If teacher is bad the class will be extremely hard
yea
For anyone that took AP physics 1 did any of use linearization/ linear approximation in it
I didn’t but I self studied
you can take ap freshman year?
yes
how
in our school they offered ap hug and ap csp for freshmans
lucky my school only lets 10-12 graders do it
but in our state we have a government website that lets you choose ap classes to do online
so you could basically do ap calc ab in your freshman year or like ap physics
lol
seems good, unless you think that time can be better spent on learning a skill
I mean the aps im doing are very easy so i think i can do both
csp yes, idk abt mirco
I heard micro is light
And i saw the course
Its only 6 units
i mean you have a month to styart and you can sign up in october
so its fine
Ye
Hey guys, when I'm a junior next year should I skip ap calc ab and go straight to bc, and then take ap stat/multivar calc senior yr? or should i double up and take ab + bc junior or yr or ab junior and bc senior?
im taking ap pre calc this upcoming sopmore yr
yo guys if my school doesn't offer ap classes what should i do?
Is a bachelor's in mechanical and masters in aerospace a good plan
Is an aerospace bsc and msc worth it in one go?
Guys I am thinking of AP stats
since my desire major will be AI/ML and ECE
will it be good??
the APs i will be giving next year will be AP Calc BC, AP CSA, AP Physics C Mechanics and E&M
I don't think so
Aerospace is a small field
Well yeah, but mechanical is a huge field, so it just puts a whole lot of kind of useless information, cause in the aerospace field you dont need to know how to design support structures for buildings and how to reinforce ship sterns, i dont know if they learn it but ykwim
And if i want to design missiles lets say, well thats kind of the plan but just imagine, with aerospace i learn how to design it and how to maintain it and things like that, with mechanical i learn what material to use, maybe how to design it, but nothing else
Well maybe im wrong correct me if i am, but thats what i believe
I would say only do this if you are interested in the course, it may be hard to find the motivation to study for the ap if you aren't that interested in it and are only taking it because of its difficulty.
Bro is gonna die next year
Lol jk
Good luck
CSA is a bit easy for me, coz i have done most of the things early
since my board is not IB, my board's 11th physics syllabus is AP Physics C mechanics
Did u do physics 1 in freshman year?
nope i dont 't have IB board, I have CBSE board so 11th's Physics Syllabus for y'all will be translated as Physics 1 + Physics C Mechanics
Ohhh ok
Anyway gl bro
thanks
Hope the best for u
we also have extra stuff like thermodynamics
Damn bro that's like 70,000 rupees spent
Can u help me please
I have question
Sure
In Khan Academy should I start on pre algebra or algebra basics
Nah bro I'm not that old my self
Ask someone who has graduated
Ok
How hard is grade 12 nutrition
My school has grade 10 food and nutrition than it splits into cooking class and nutrition in grade 12. Food and nutrition isn't a prerequisite but should I take it if I want to take nutrition
self study or take other hard classes, colleges look at what you took/offered but self study looks nice, its also easy if your in the hon versioun, eg self studying ap bio as an hon bio student
hii, as an upcoming freshman, should i take an ap course? & if so, which ones are "freshman-friendly"?
I don't have honors either and I'm homeschooled
So I just study the stuff I want by myself and then take the tests right?
I’m also a freshman and my school suggested either ap human geography or ap environmental science as a starter.
ok! did they tell u any reason why those classes in particular?
Those classes consist of more memorization rather than learning concepts and applying them
That’s why classes like ap physics and chem are considered harder
And memorization classes like those are generally considered easier
ohh ok thanks sm!
👍🏻
yea
there easy, i took them as a freshman
always take the ap course
AP human geography, AP psychology, or AP seminar are good AP classes to begin with!
And I'm saying Seminar because it teaches you how to be a good student
Maybe pick 1-2 max
is it worth taking aps in canada???
If u apply to US Unis then yes
Yeah, sadly but it will be worth for application and credits which will indirectly reduce course length and price
ok thanks!
okk! & how does seminar teach u how to be a good student?
alr thanks!
Seminar teaches you on the use of teamwork, making credible knowledge for others to witness, and overall teaching you the most important things of being a diligent and efficient student!
Seminar also has a final project where you and teammates have to create a presentation and argue on something you are passionate about.
So I say that Seminar is definitely a good class, especially if you have a good teacher-
Do you guys think taking Ap Literature, physics c e&m, and chemistry are all possible senior year ?
Woah, that would definitely be a bit difficult, but if you do the work, get help when needed, it's possible, but getting a 5 in all of them..
Goodluck though!
Thank you lol
ALSO with Seminar, if you take AP Research next year after Seminar, you'd be in running to get the AP Capstone Award, if you got 4-5's on your other AP courses, and that award would definitely make you stand out
But that's all on you to dedicate to AP Research as it is an INDIVIDUAL version of AP Seminar, but harder, as you have to write a 5000 word presentation and defend your topic...
Yeah, I'd recommend only doing AP Seminar when you really think about it
The AP Capstone award is a joke
How much harder is honors chem compared to honors bio?
i haven't finished biology but honors chem is brutal af you can't slack off
is it worth it to self study for an AP
My school doesn't have ap, any tips. Or do I just self study it and hope for the best
most likely self study and hope for the best
some but not all- most us based APs (APUSH for an example) dont exactly carry a lot of worth here unless youre planning on going down to the states. Science/math based APs are still really valuable but most universities need a 4-5 score on the AP exam to get those college credits while many schools in the states will take a 3
Hey! Which are the easiest APs to self study? I passed Lang and APUSH without taking the class or studying, so I want to try for more this year!
Ap csp, ap comparative gov, ap csa, ap micro, ap macro, ap environment
Interesting…I’m guessing you have to actually know computer science to take the APs tho lol
I’m def going to look into the economics ones
Im self studing micro this year
I’ll look into that🤔
I feel like economics is really easy conceptually
Same
I recommend AP Lang if you’re good at writing
Im a sophmore tho
It’s the same stuff as the reading/writing section on the SAT
I took it without taking the class or studying and I passed🤷🏻♀️
You can always take it later
I also took Human Geo freshman year bc it was required at my school and it was really interesting. Def have to study for it if you’re not taking the class but it’s fairly easy
My old school didnt require u to take human geography. Instead they made u take some shit course called fresman seminar. I just did it over the summer tho
Same with world history. I just did that over the summer as well this year
My counselor genuinely hated me and didn’t let me take classes over the summer. Glad I’m switching schools…
Damn switching schoools senior year must be hard
Im switching schools for my sophmore year
I chose to do it. Too much drama
Ohhh Icicic but in general if I’m applying in Canada I can still get into a nice Uni without it rt?
oh yeah ofc
Damn
but it helps
A varsity football player punched me. It was my time to get out of there 💀
If u had to skip schools then it must have been bad
Of course! happy to help!
Im guessing the teachers didnt give a shit
Everything tied back to a situationship sophomore year bro. Stay safe😭🙏
Fr
Honestly some schools dont give a shit abt u. In my old school, the counselors were basically lying to the 8th graders that they couldnt take certain classes so there job could get easier
YEA my counselor kept lying to me
And I’d find out when I talked to other kids who were way ahead in math
And I was like wtf I asked to do that
Wait bro wdym by this exactly
I mean every little bit of drama somehow tied back to one guy
He owned a hedge fund, drove a BMW, and bought himself a condo at 17 : (
You do want to be that guy
Bro wtf
I dont know what a hedge fund is ☠️
No guy impresses me anymore istg
Do you know what an index fund is? It’s like that, except the stocks are managed by a random dude and the clients are rich as fuck
Ik what a index fund is. Never heard of an hedge fund
Most people don’t need to know what it is lol
Ok so im guessing parents are rich and the guy is smart
Yup
Good for him 😭
They didn’t give him much, but he definitely used connections
No we hate him
Why cause he successful?
No bc he’s a horrible person. Why do you think I had so much drama that tied back to him😭
whos he
Ohhh
Makes sense now
Guy I know
oh
I have a feeling 10 years down the road ur gonna meet him and it turned out he wanted more money and did some illegal shit
Cause thats how it all usually starts out
lol I hope so
He hosted underage drinking poker parties at his office. I wouldn’t put it past him
Ya it def happening
What does loml mean
Love of my life
🤫🤫🤫
guys u can take this to dms or general 👍
Girls are weird dawg 😭
Mb bro
LMAO
nw nw
Bro we werent rly disturbing anyones convo tho
Abt the bad boy love of ur life
but its course selection😶🌫️
Thats what is prob abt
I mean a lot of people have discussions here
Its not irregular
I could write about volunteering for make-a-wish for 7 years and meeting a friend that died from cancer
doesnt mean its right just coz everyone does it
Bro chill
Why u choose chess?
make it a show and dont tell, but it should be about how that made u a better person
zero to hero👍
Hello
It’s been there throughout my life and I get lost in the game
Where do I find the full list of highest paying majors
What ur rating?
Search it up
Mostly stem majors
I think gohar posted smthn like that a while back
It varies. I’ve been playing 1 min games for fun recently and that’s around 12-1300 usually. I was going to write about playing in person
I go to a chess event on Mondays with a bunch of old guys lol
Nice. I used to play in middle school
I wish I could write about my crazy childhood but it includes my parents’ job and I don’t think I should tell colleges about that
Isnt that what all the people who get into ivies write abt
Ya u shouldnt tell them abt that
I mean it would be a good essay topic but i think thats too personal
I think u should consult someone abt it. Get like one of those college consulting ppl
Cause u got some rly good experience for essay topics
I think I’m going to write different essay options then ask for opinions
Ya do that
I’m definitely sad about leaving the college and career center at my old school behind. I ate lunch in there every day and made friends with the coordinators
Ya and ur gonna be a senior next year
(I ate lunch there with friends. I’m not a loser I swear)
Oh no he graduated two years ago LMFAO
Class of 23
A lot but also not much
Like did u do olympiads and stuff
I did 7 clubs sophomore year
Thats crazy
President of Investor’s Club Junior year
Enterprise Academy (business camp through the Rotary Club) every year of high school
Make-A-Wish volunteering
NHS
Thats wild bro. I just did robotics club and tennis freshman year
I need to cook this year for soph
Part-time job at Domino’s for a year
How u manage all ur time
Japanese Immersion since kindergarten
Honestly I felt like I wasn’t doing as much as everyone else. I skipped school a lot
Like I was absent from math more than I was there last year 💀
But that was out of laziness so idk
Honestly school is just in the way at some points. The school makes me take pointless classes
An example as such is freshman seminar where we did jackshit
I did a dual credit history class that gave me 12 college credits bc it followed the exact curriculum of 3 classes in one year
Is basically just a college class
Yeah it was
I took 3 other dumber dual credits that were just 4 credits stretched out through the year
What ur major going to be in
I’m thinking international business or something like that. Maybe international relations with economics, etc
The thing is I didn’t really start thinking about college apps until like a month ago
I just did what I felt like doing for fun
Those 7 clubs sophomore year weren’t me grinding. They were for fun
Well ig u did good. U did a hella lot of ecs
Thats crazy
Really? I’ve been watching videos online and I feel like I haven’t done enough bc I don’t have awards
I mean i think u did enough to compensate for that
I did a cool thing called America in One Room a week ago where I represented my area at a conference in DC of 500 first time voters across the country
And I’m doing NASA Space Camp in August
How u get in to that
You just have to apply like a year in advance
It’s just a camp. If you get a spot you have to pay, but it’s not competitive in any academic way
Yeah!
Did u win any awards in chess
No lol
I won the only two competitions I went to then gave up on being competitive with it
When I went into middle school I thought I’d have too much work to do so I gave up chess💀💀
Same. I regret giving up chess
I used to have a 1600 rating
Pick it back up! It’s NOT too late
Bro i literally forgot everything
The cool thing is went into chess club freshman year after not playing for years. They set me up against the president and I won
Was the prez rly good
No. But it was really funny and it embarrassed her
Lol
It’s much easier to relearn
Ig ya
Seriously, that’s actually a cool thing to get awards in.
I’ll be back in a few minutes
Yk what i will look into it.
Bro i gotta sleep. It becoming too late for me. We will talk later
🫡
K! Goodnight
I have the chance to take on extra elective going into my freshman high school year. Should i do AP Human Geography as another AP?
Hi I am an international student and want to get in UNSW Sydney, Can anyone guide me for Scholarships, SAT or ACT, or any other scholarship test for the university(Basically I need Financial Aid), and also I am interested in Python and Robotics but After the degree I want to Work Remotely, so What degree shpuld I choose
.
any good recommendations on how i could self study?
(YT , app , website , etc.) (for free)
How many r u taking other than aphug
Anyone
.
and also what Ap exams should i take to boost college credit and make my app look good sinceit doesn't matter for my gpa cuz my school doesn't offer anything?
Do you guys think 5 APs sophmore year is managable?
pre calc, micro, csa, euro, and seminar
rest of my classes are honors, but i also have block scheudling, meaning I'll take half my courses (2 or 3 aps) first semester, and the rest second semester
so it makes the workload easier bc I take half the classes at a time
Rlly hard probs
Hi all! I am a Fall 2024 International Applicant to US universities. I am perplexed between my major choice as either Electrical Engineering or CS+X (Maths,Economics). My passion lies in Computer Science but since CS is extremely hard to get into, I was thinking of applying as an EE major and switching later once admitted into the college. Can somebody help?
i'm not australian but as a fellow international student applying to australia u can take a look at the website
aus unis are pretty transparent on what scores they need
each major will habe different scores requirements
usually
Should I take food and nutrition if I want to take grade 12 nutrition, it's not a needed but idk if I will be missing info
GUYS AM I COOKED JUNIOR YEAR!?!?
i ran out of classes to take and my counselor put me in random APs, i want to go into orthopedics HELP should i change anything???
AP Bio, AP Lang, AP Psych, AP Calc BC, APES, Hon Spanish 3, Honors Human Body Systems.
IM SCREWED
do ap classes reward high school credits/units?
im in usa
so does it mean i can graduate early from ap classes?
I mean yeah, classes are classes. You’ll have to talk to your counselor to figure out what counts for your graduation requirements
These actually seem great for your path, I’d say chemistry is also helpful but that can be moved to your senior year, physics too maybe but not very urgent
From college or hs
from hs
I mean if you take aps you don’t graduate from hs quicker
I think
you can graduate early no matter what classes you take. it depends on where you live and the requirements to graduate in your district. where i am, you don't need a single ap to graduate, but aps are worth college credit, so you can skip a few courses in college. as far as high school goes though, ap classes are not a requirement to graduate
you can ask ur counselor to change it
hopefully
my counselor is out of office i messaged the principal 😭
damn
nothing u can do till then im sorry
cause she put me in some college course so i have to drop out of it before the deadline this week or else i need to quit tennis team cause the class is after school
nah youre good lol my school is weird
bro
i dont even know my counselor
thats so goofy
lmao ikr
yeah def if you have a good work ethic and don’t get burnt out
Should I take food and nutrition if I want to take grade 12 nutrition, it's not a needed but idk if I will be missing info.
more context pls loll
My school offers grade 10 food and nutrition, the next year's it's split into cooking class and nutrition. Food and nutrition isn't required but I don't want to be missing lots of information.
you don’t want to be missing lots of information that you would learn in food and nutrition if you were to take cooking class or nutrition?
If it isn’t required to take grade 10 food and nutrition, they’ll give you all of the information you need in cooking/nutrition.
you would only be missing information if the grade 10 class was a prerequisite and in that case you would have to take it before the other classes
Grade 10 food and nutrition isn't required for grade 12 nutrition
Yeah, so you won’t be missing out on any information.
in grade 12 nutrition they will give you all of the information necessary to succeed
Okay. Thank you
np!
hey I was wondering if colleges look into senior year classes to see if you did at least 3 yrs of world language bc I heard before it might be overlooked
I think they look at senior year classes but idk
depends on the college; MIT, for example, recommends 2 years of a foreign language
My hs counselor says the state require us to take 4 classes and I’m taking this one engineering class at the community college that’ll give me hs credit too does anyone know if that’ll count as one of those?
Ca btw
Cali
So I have two predicaments, one for me and one for a friend.
Should I still take ap psych despite already doing five psych dual enrollment courses? I wanna apply to competitive colleges as a psych major so idk if the extra mile is worth it. The only thing making me unsure is that I wouldn't be able to take ap bio but I really want to since I’m setting my app to be very health related/medically-oriented. I also want to do ap seminar since I heard the capstone course is very tried into research, which colleges would like (I also just really like English)
As for my friend, they want to do ap chem but they’re not offering it at our school. If they’re applying for a bio chem major, what other science would be a good alternative? They already took ap bio this past year
maybe u can self-study AP Psychology as it seems like you already know a lot about it taking 5 dual-enrollment courses? so that allows u to take ap bio and ap capstone
Would it affect how colleges see me? Or if I pass the test they won’t really mind me not taking the class
i'm pretty sure no
I see, thank you!
but if u can maybe u should check in with one of ur teachers or sm too because i'm not a professional so
One question!
So I know there's an option to take ap classes online and I wanna know if it's possible to enroll even after school starts.. my counselor told me that there's no option for ap online for my school and seems like they actually do offer it so
If u need where I live I'm in TN
My ultimate goal is to take ap exams and yk enrolling in ap courses and classroom is required to take it
U have 5 DE classes
That’s way better than the AP score
Did u get A in them?
Also where u applying
whats DE
Dual enrollment
The Claremont colleges, usc, the major UCs (Berkeley, LA, San Diego)
So far I have an A in two
They’re only given once or twice at a time throughout the year
To not go too insane
Yalll I rlly wanna take an AP class in my sophomore yr but I dont have any room in my schedule should I sacrifice a class 4 an AP? Or should I should just wait till junior yr 2 take 1 😭😭
sacrifice
front loading aps is optima
Yooo thx now just gotta sacrifice the right class 😭😭
If I get a 5 on AP Chemistry (for example), would DE give me any benefits if I choose an in-state college?
What classes are you taking?
is 4 aps too many for sophomore year (ap lang, psych, comp sci principles, and environmental)? i only took 1 freshman year and i got a 5 on it but it was human geography so💀
What course is good
Brothaaa that’s so good I didn’t take any my freshman yr and still deciding rn😭😭😭
Uhhh Avid, health, tv production, span-2, hon eng 10, hon im3 😭
take health over the summer
whats hon im3?
Nah, you'll be fine
Math 😭
why 😭
whats wrong with that lol
Hmm I'm pretty sure Avid is like a study hall, drop that then
or tv production
They have it set as sophomore is that last yr 2 join avid and they give us free food and field trips I don’t rlly wanna drop that 😭
I’m just doing tv 4 fun and the experience and don’t rlly wanna drop taht either 😭😭
It’s so hard 2 pick 😭
I would pick that then
it's not too bad. the only thing that might be difficult to manages is apes and compsci at the same time since they both require a lot of studying outside the classroom
but if u think you can handle that and manage your time wisely you should be good!
Csp is easy though wdym
you mean compsci a or principles?
oh wait then nvm those 4 are pretty easy to manage
no fr though
all my compsci friends were constantly sleep-deprived, unhappy, and complained abt taking it haha
LOL
same
thats fine then i wouldnt even worry about self study
UCs treat DE classes as weighted anyways
idk abt USC or claremont
Claremont does, still gotta look into usc for specifics.
Thank you so much!
ooh
if you apply to pomona lmk i applied there and got in!
Are u self studying or taking the actual class?
hey guys
this isnt course selection
but its for electives
not as serious but yeah i js want some help
these are some options, but i wont be doing the singing thing
I'm taking 1 AP and 3 honors classes next year with a couple clubs and trying to find more extracurriculars. Is it worth it to self study and if yes which AP's should I study for? I want to go into medicine or stem (like everybody else ig 😭)
I'm going into sophomore year
@waxen garden This depends on what AP's are offered at your school, but for medicine, AP Biology would be a good one to go for, AP Chemistry if its offered. And I know at my school at least we offer AP Med Sci which is pretty much everything you'd learn first year university but in a shorter harder course.
@zealous pulsar most of these in the photo are really up to what do you WANT to do. Like do you want to do really hard math, or easy math, or do you wanna learn French, or German, (Japanese would be most beneficial, in all honesty.) And for humanities, from past experiences (No joke intended) geography would be better, because you're learning where things are in the real living world, which could benefit in every job. With that being said its also up to what will you want to learn.
Dammmmm
Where you going?
uh
Valid
my class schedule this year as a junior!!
i need to fix one class cuz i passed an exam that can get me out of it
i got the same, you should change Spanish for APSpanish¿?
i got out of esol years ago idk why they keep putting me there
is ap sp lit harder than ap sp lang
Yes
I recommend Spanish Lang first
My school wouldn’t even let you take lit without taking Lang first
i dont have a 3.0 for AP
Do you guys think taking Choir for 1 year is worth it?
It does fulfill my grad req for performing arts
tysm!! i will take that all into account
lang was a W class. I'm taking lit next year. Only got a 4 on the exam but it was fun and easy.
What are your options?
Depending on how well you did Freshman year, I would consider taking 1-2 AP classes
Wow AP med sci would be so cool 😭 I'm planning on taking AP bio but I don't have enough space to take ap chem
Does your school have any Biomed courses?
Yup it has a whole pathway of 3 classes which is why I don't have space for AP chem ajd other science classes
That’s cool. My school has 1 which is sophomore exclusive so I’m hoping I can get it
Good luck!!! At my school the biomed pathway is extremely popular so idk if I can get the class either
And I forgot to apply for it 😅
So I need to ask for a change
Oh dear 😭😭😭 good luck 🤞🤞
All the advanced classes I requested for are super popular and the chance of getting all of them are so low 💀
What did you apply for?
AP world, principles of biomed honors, chem honors, precalc honors
I hate that my school doesn't offer ap classes in freshman year 💀
Nice. I’m apply to some advanced classes as well but I don’t think they are that competitive
Freshman year I convinced my counselors to let me take AP calculus AB and AP calculus BC
I kinda bombed both 😬
BOYH??? IN FRESHMAN YEAR??????
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Nooo wayyy 😭😭😭💀
I didn’t take any AP freshman yr only honors 😭😭
Funny thing is there was 4 other freshman in my BC class 💀
OH NAW 😭😭😭😭😭
Dangggg 😭😭
Nah bro my school doesn't even offer honors in freshman year 😭😭
That’s absurd 😭😭
Now I’m doubling up on both Physics C classes and I may be cooked 😖
That’s toughhh
Bro and they fr said 'try to take only 2 advanced classes per year' 💀
😭😭😭😭
They don't even allow people who bridged courses to take advanced classes
Like someone who took bio over the summer can't take chem honors 😭
should I take AP Enviromental or Honors Chem
Ohhh. In your school Bio is a prereq to chem?
Hello which should I pick in As levels bio or chem. Most of my classmates r taking bio over chem. I heard chem is preety tuff. Any suggestions plz
Yeah, bio is required in freshman year unless you skip it and then you take chem or physics
Ok that’s cool. In my school we do Earth Science freshman and Biology sophomore
same ^
hello!
although mine allows some freshman to take honors bio early
anyone here do water polo
idk im just here to see what courses people are taking don't mind me lol
Testing out is strange in my school because I did this program which allowed me to complete Algebra through Precalc in middle school and they accepted it so I just took AB & Bc freshman
What are u takin next year?
i'm taking a2 next year
i should be a little more up to scratch but i gotta take some courses over the summer
What grade?
idk what science to take this year
i was suppoesd to take AP Physics 2 but it conflicted with one of my other classes
What are your options?
& interests
I just finished 8th
I am really interested in math/science, but i generally like geography and world history as well
haven't gotten really into a sport as yet
my grades are good though
Honors Chem, AP Enviro, and a bunch of science electives like zoology, metorolgy, botany, etc.
mainly looking at the first two\
What grade are you going into?
senior
Have you done Bio or Physics?
ive done honors bio and AP Physics 1
taking euro and bio
That’s quite hard decision
-
Honors Chem — gives well rounded science education colleges like (chem, bio, physics)
-
AP Environmental Science — good GPA boost and AP credit especially senior year
What do you value more?
I gtg
depends on the path you're gonna take throughout your hs career
are u science oriented
Engineering, which might mean I should do Chem but I do plan on what I might learn in evro in potential future projects.
you're c/o 2025?
"c/o" ?
class of
yeah
erm
imo take chemistry
chemistry def branches out into other fields and engineering
ok
i object
he's going into senior year
might as well do apes
well i havent done apes so i cant say anything about it
lightest science ap
ight
im going to talk to one of my teachers tomorrow to see what they have to say and ill have to make a decision soon
it depends on what engineering youre going to do, i say chemistry since it does have some like important stuff like sig figs, stoich, unit conversions and other common formulas but it looks like apes covers stuff about usage of earth and its resources, idk what math parts there are in apes
im looking at Mechanical but I might get degrees in other areas like Nuclear and Explosives
Is apes worth self studying for??
depends on you
I think it could be but if the class it self ain’t too bad you may wanna take it to boost your GPA
what is a good weighted gpa and is it really worth having no life to try to be valedictorian
my high school is really competitive
I don't have space for apes so I think I'll self study but ty for the advice!!
i considered self studying apes and microecon, but I found it to not be too important to me, but i heard from multiple sources (~12) that the apes test is really easy if you do light studying and have a good intuition
In that case go for it!
i feel like apes is generally easy to self-study for, but it does cover quite a bit of content.
Ooh speaking of microecon, in my school for 12th grade, they offer ap micromacro and AP econ, are any of these worth self studying instead of taking the class? Also ty bc that's what I heard about AP environment too
Is it completely different from stuff you learn in middle school and high school bio or the same thing but with more detail?
hmm, i’m not exactly sure about the two econ aps, cause i didn’t really ask anyone from my high school about macro (we don’t have micro), it’s considered a easy/medium ap to self study so if ur good at it you should be fine
its pretty different from what you learn in middle school, but it does have some related content. it also does have some things from bio but yeah generally it covers more in-depth content
Alright thank you so much!
Oooh ic ty!!
yess ofc hope it helps! :)
glad i could and good luck in self studying and hs in general

Purdue might not be safety but I’m not sure about it
Nah bro if I get Into MIT or Any reach school I ain't giving JEE
Their acceptance rate is like 54% tho
Again I’m not sure about it because it is a T10 university for engineering
I haven't done much research but how nice is stanford culture?
Hello
I am a 17 year old student currently in year 12.
My school follows cbse boards and im in the pcmb stream (physics math biology chemistry)
I get decent marks (10th boards 93%, 11th grade 90%)
I am currently clueless on what to do after 12th
Ive looked a bit into engineering and it seems interesting but my elders say that i have not got enough prep for entrance exams
Im interested in medicine but dont want to do 6+ years in med school, my parents encourage me to take medicine as my elder sis is in her 2nd year of med.
Any advice is appreciated
If they require SAT/ACT then no it isn’t. If it’s a requirement and you don’t send it they won’t consider your application

anyone in nj?
heading into freshman
took option ii geo honors
should i take computer programming in java for option ii next year
First off all what are your passions cause you don't want to be stuck in a job that you hate
also if you had to chose between medicine and engineering which one would you choose and what subset
You could also just get into a uni or college with general courses and then figure out what ur gunna do afterwards
Tho I wouldn't recommend going into college or uni blindly
Reading, space, martial arts, football, learning new stuff
Not too many academic specific ones
Id choose engineering
But i feel like i aint smart enough
WHAT???!? Ofc you are literally anyone can be an engineer if you work for it
Ah idk ig my parents succeeded in scaring me with all the failed jee aspirant stories they tell
You could be like an aerospace engineer if you want
Interesting choice
Il think about it
Since you like space and would want to be an engineer
Thanks for the advice
Bro why r u the same as me
I am gonna pursue aero
I'm gonna puruse mech e first then aero, cus aero is a small industry
Ur gonna pay a heavy amount of college fees
Since ur an international student
jersey boy here
MIT and Harvard require u to pay zero fees if ur family earns less than 65000 dollars and 85000 dollars respectively
And my family earns like 30
Dude i think thats for us citizens
How do you expect someone to pay like 60,000 dollars if they earn 30?
That would be dumb
It dosent say international or anything here
It dosent say anything on the page
Most big colleges have these kinda schemes
But u need to get into a rlly good school
U might wanna check for international seperately cause i never heard of anything like this for international students
bruh
Even for international if I apply for aid I'll prolly get a ton
My family earns like 20,000 to 30,000 dollars
The tuition itself is 57000
Good Unis can afford to cover anyone they want
U are not countering me right?
Dude we are not against u.
