what if stayed motivated and on top of it
thats just what killed me this year
if i fix that
surely i could?
but maybe not?
?
i agree

7th graders can't take AP?
Unless you're advanced in math.
@cinder gorge I don't think 7th graders can take AP courses sorry!
First you need to figure out your high school course list, which can usually be found on their website. Find perquisites and see what your interests are
Advanced Placement
AP means advanced placement, and it's usually for high school credit I believe.
college credit
Ah, my bad sorry!
You have to meet certain academic requirements set by your school and then you can be in the class.
Like an 80% in the previous honors course or 90% in CP
Another 7th grader.
You can choose to be in that class, at least at my school, you just have to pass a specific test usually taken in the spring time to get the college credit.
For example, my school requires you to pass pre-ap bio with an 85% to take AP bio
They're cooking.
cook
not if you're willing to put in a lot of hardwork

My school doesn't allow freshman to take AP because of reqs, but freshman can rarely double up
Double up?
Which is why I plan on doubling up 3 core classes sophomore year
Oooo.
Same here. It's usually reserved for sophomores to seniors.
At my school, you can take two science classes per year or more. That's what we mean by doubling up at least at my school!
Since we have two semesters.
Okay.
You can double up anything, ss, science, math (not english) at my school
but it eats your electives
Yeah, it does!
Are you doubling up on anything?
everything but english
Wow! Are you trying to get ahead in them?
hopefully i'll be allowed im very convincing. im trying to let my school let me double up ev and bio this year
i want to finish 14/16 ap classes my school offers
Are you just going to email them or something?
That's a good goal to have!
I emailed my request, shared my last years grades, and a few things i've done in the past like professional tutoring at a company
for science
I'm so behind
yes
Wow! It seems like you're so advanced then!
not really
What makes you say that?
I had a 98 ๐
My ecs are...
its an A+ ๐ญ
A 98 is AMAZING!!
this is your freshman year chilll
It's an A+!!
i just signed up for everything since i dont do sports
i have a lot of time for other activities
Haha, that's kind of what I did my freshman year this year.
every piece of advice i hear says dont do sports unless you are state ranked and are going for althletic scholarships
Oh, really?
That's interesting.
That is true lol!
I just like to do them for fun.
I'm still debating on whether or not I want to aim for a military academy, in which I need both sports and other ecs.
but when you have 5 hours of hw nightly

It won't be worth it if you have more than 5 hours of hw daily I think!
you could go straight in the military
get out and theyll pay for college
Idk if it's daily...
You mean enlist after high school? ๐ญ
my best friends sister is a junior and she came home with a 4 inch stack of hw
yeah
You'll get a lot of homework depending on the class!
i thought about it and realized im not even meeting the height:weight ration so
Some homework can be a breeze depending on your strengths
yeah but ap bio, ap precalc, ap sem..
I don't want to enlist sorry!! I want to go to college first then maybe enter the military as a 2nd lieutenant
I see
as an officer
Possibly at least
AP Sem?
Then become a doctor
Ap seminar
Never heard of it being hard.
Not hard just a lot of work since its a huge group assignment
its just time
Ohh! I probably don't meet it either tbh, and probably would fail the fitness exams
you dont have enough time
Yep!
I want to major in bio and then narrow my specialty to radiation oncology in med school
Cool!
I want to go into pre med too! But narrow my specialty to neurology
maybe a double major or minor in poli science
That would be cool!
It could be a backup if radiation oncology doesn't work out
awesome!! the brain is super cool
I agree! :))
if i didnt want to be a doctor id love getting in government
MUN, Debate, DECA, all my kind of things
Honestly, same tbh! Or perhaps an engineer
Model UN seems like fun!
I wish my school had that
Well they tried making a club!
There are specialists who advice the UN, but I don't know about that
But it didn't quite work out
Yes! An engineer!
Ohh yeah, I think so too!
Yep! Possibly something in aerospace if medicine doesn't work out.
Electrical, biomedical, mechanical?
Aerospace!
Aerospace is so cool!!!
Yep.
That's on my to-do list.
i plan on volunteering at my local cancer clinic, shadowing oncologists at cancer research centers, and getting an internship (hopefully)
i also want to start a nonprofit in my community where we crotchet and knit for raise money for st. jude
prob
Nice
Do you want to?
As a fellow french enthusiast, Le francais est plus bien.
im proud i understood that
i wasnโt planning on taking all of them, i am just needing help deciding between the four
i would recommend chem & maybe AP Bio
What type of spanish courses do they offer at your school and what are you planning to take? Is it an introduction to spanish or spanish 1? (spanish 1 is a high school course)
but generally yes, youll get exposure to foreign language so it will be easier for you once you start high school
because its a requirement for colleges and i think for high school grad
You should do JROTC then
depends on which grade they are in and what classes they are taking
I do Civil Air Patrol (:
what grade are u in
How difficult is ap environmental science and also ap human geography?
both very easy
Dont underestimate them
They tend to be on the easier side
apes was so fun n honestly not that challenging
Okay thanks all of you
someone pls rate my next year schedule ๐ill tell u ๐ญ
i volunteer
ofcc
okok ๐ญ
why is ur name elle to the 2.7
๐
so silly!!!

thats so sigma
it took me a sec
WHATS UR SCHEDULE

(Probably)
- Dual enrollment courses
-Intro to Python Programming
-Advanced Spreadsheet (Excel)
-Intro to Business and Data Analytics
i doubt my counselor would approve 3 de classes with this ๐ญ
7APS IS CRAZY
WHY

im not native but im semi fluent
real
my heart is broken
i felt that
NO DO IT
but i want the biliteracy award thingy
EXACTLY
the ap chinese teacher was also the chinese ib sl teacher (chinese 3)
her class is so boring
shes a yapper
WAHTS UR SCHEUDLE NEXT YEAR
its okay J TUNE HER OUT
๐
UH NOWHERE AS MUCH APS AS U

thanks for ur input but i want the classes
๐
UH LETS SEE
we have 5 periods
so
ap bio, stat, chinese (MAYBE), world, then i have normal english cs theres no way ure gonna catch me taking ap lit ๐ญ๐
ew ap lit
๐ข
how abt honors english at least
but they didnt get enough ppl for lit
IK
MY SCHOOL IS SMALL
WE HAVE NO HONOR CLASSES
UH LIKE 700?
or less
at least when u tell the admissions people u can say that
u get more social life maybe
facts
YAYA
i want a social life
๐

my school offers ap calc ab (im in canada) but i want to do engineering, and ive heard that unis just ignore ap calc credits for engineering. should i take ap calc then? or is it not worth it? i want to go to ubc btw
Check UBC's AP Course credit policy
didnt see anything there about the credit not counting for engineering (https://you.ubc.ca/applying-ubc/applied/first-year-credit/)
All you need to know about UBC's undergraduate programs, admissions requirements, application process, tuition, and campus life.
also, im doing sem 2 of gr11 right now and im finishing precal 11 this sem
and my ap calc class is a year long course
so next year i would be doing
precal 12 as well as ap calc
at the same time
is that even like a good idea?
im also taking physics 12 in the same semester
Not sure abt the ap policy but i suggest taking it because as an engineering student, you will have to take calculus courses (my sister said calculus 1 and 2 are extensions from high school) so itโll help you out in the long term too (my sister is an engineering student at ubc)
She said it helped her out- cause first year is hella stressful at ubc because thatโs when they weed out everyone and itโs super competitive cause everyone is in competition for second year picks
i would learn it just for the class
in my personal opinion i don't see why someone shouldnt learn basic calc in high school if they have the option regardless of college sentiment
i see
if not about the ap policy, the question comes to whether the workload is manageable, but i guess thats entirely dependent on me
thats fair
okay thanks guys
ill probably try to cover the material over summer break so that its a bit easier to manage the class next year
guys should i take AP HUMAN GEOGRAPHY OR AP GOV FOR FRESHMAN YEAR
human geo
k
Which one goes towards your major or gen eds?
ap gov is a requirement for me. Not ap, but just government. So maybe go for government
Yeah some kind of US government, US history, or African American studies is usually required at most colleges
US history, Gov, and one other history is required for me to graduate.
Oh I thought you meant college
What are some good classes to take sophomore year?
The classes that you can take, related to your major, and that you can handle.
Should I take more AP classes or classes for careers I wanna go in(business classes like entrepreneurship, accounting, personal finance, finance and investment, etc). This is especially regarding ivys like UPenn Wharton cuz I know they want u to take classes that challenge u to the best of your ability.
Because Iโm sure I could handle easier APs like psyc but not sure if I should take them
I somehow got into maths acceleration
now i would say both, since some ap classes do support what u plan on doing for your career such as ap micro and macro economics (for finance the ap math classes are great as well)
for career-involved classes, dual enrollment is amazing but i only suggest it if you really want to challenge yourself
but you should be aware of what your limits are
so dont bombard yourself with many ap classes and career classes unless you're absolutely prepared for the challenge
Yea thatโs what I was thinking like economics and statistics will help but I meant elective wise
what electives are available in your school?
honestly, challenging ap exams is good as well, like if u want to do ap psych, you can challenge it, study hard and get a 5
i would not recommend for statistics or economics, unless you're confident in understanding the curriculum
for electives, its always good to space the aps by year (so freshmen year, statistics, sohpomore economics, etc. etc.) but this depends on ur school i think?
Regarding ap and business wise: ap seminar, ap psycology, ap research and you can double on social studies I believe, for business there accounting, marketing, entrepreneurship, business management in sports,
Personal finance, finance and investment
Economics is a social studies so typically it happens during junior or senior year for us and stat should be done after precalc so also junior senior year
What do you mean, how would we know?
this only applies if you want to challenge the ap exams for statistics or economics (as in you're self-studying for the exam). this is only based off of my peers' experiences and expectations but if u want to challenge an exam, some colleges expect for you to get a 5 for them (im hoping a 4 suffices as well)
i see
im assuming ur doing geometry rn?
Algebra 2
I suppose I could but for some reason I feel like I should take them as courses instead of self studying
but for the math classes, to be entirely honest, u can do algebra 2 over the summer through an online course or dual enrollment, get credit for that, and take precalc in sophomore year
heโs in alg 2
I can help you
Want to move to DMs?
If the APs donโt relate to your major probably donโt take them (like ap bio for business)
But if itโs like in the middle w like ap psychology since it kinda is like a universal class imo it depends
If u have the free space in ur schedule I would take it
He said AP psychology not AP physics
Yeah I meant that I just abbreviated it
Enjoy it while it lasts
are you like going into 7th grade or
but i agree
iโm saying this as a rising sophomore
no not you i mean rain
samee
is it smart to take all the aps at my school (its only 9) if im not sure what i wanna major in?
if its not the same year then ye well u can do it in the same yr i wouldnt recommend it
prob
9 is very doable
So, what subjects should I choose for 11th grade if I want to become a medical doctor? Also, should I join humanitarian clubs and volunteer for various activities?
HIGH SCHOOL : arrowhead high school and early college
science classes like biology chemistry physics, anatomy, calculus
maybe ap pyschology
pick me up otw there
So which subject and clubs would be best ๐
these
of coursee
Join a sport
and maybe you shouldnt tell people your high school unless you really dont care๐ญ
Too late
Heโs cooked ๐๐ญ
Ggs
Can I doxx you?
What?
This is very legal
Iโm asking for consent
@bronze oxide Yo how are your athletic facilities so nice
Agreed
can you take honors or ap class in the summer probably not ap cuz exams r in may right
okay
Theres courses online
ok
ok ty
Thereโs clep but itโs self study only
Any college people how does this look for a freshman first semester
Undecided major btw but thinking about chem
Is AP seminar interesting for colleges
Why not
I mean it depends on ur major
Why ๐
Cuz colleges don't rlly care about Capstone
I wanna be in business/finance
Srsly
it still helps bruh
For my school science
I do
I havenโt taken an AP class yet Iโm taking Ap human geography but want to take either ap environmental science or ap seminar. Which would you guys recommend?
Depends on ur major
I had honors english 10 and it was fun asf
I loved the projects and people
Precalc ez, APUSH depends on ur teacher
Content itself wasn't that bad
U just memorize stuff and how it connects to the space time continum
ohhhh ok
I want to do business or biology. Maybe economics
Probably APES
For busniess I would knock AP Macro and Micro
It sucks because my school doesnโt offer a ton of choices for ap classes
U should probably prioritize AP Macro/Micro and Calculus
Alright
๐ญ๐ญ
FR ๐
Why r u crying for a tool of war?
Should I skin geometry and go to algebra 2?
what if they only offer it too seniors
Skip*
Still do it I would say
At least get the math done by junior year
Everyone loves math
Shame that AP Busniess Princples hasn't been released
ap econ > ap mac and micro???
I feel like Micro/Macro cover the business department
Do you guys think this is a good selection of courses for sophomore year? Will it be manageable with EC's/Clubs? (AP Cybersecurity is an AP CollegeBoard is testing at my school)
with good time management, definitely
Man my school ainโt got AP cyber security wish I had that
Wth is AP Cyber Security?
School probably tests to see if you can stop people from hacking into things like corporate documents or smth
yeah what is this
I can only take AP world freshmen year
are u korean?
At least thereโs CLEP
That might be too advanced tbh
Of course
aye fellow korean
is AP bio worth taking with limited bio experience? ive heard both extremes on it when it comes to difficulty.
As long as you keep up and study then your good
Just understand all the basic concepts and u will get a 5
They wont
You should take at least 9th grade bio and optionally 10th grade chem before AP Bio.
If you donโt have this knowledge, AP bio is going to be kind of tough, but you possibly could manage it with a lot of studying.
I wouldnโt recommend taking it unless you have the 2 classes above completed.
Oh yeah for sure
Never take AP Bio or AP Chem without taking reg/honors bio and chem first
Biology and Chemistry at the non-AP level give you the foundation you need for AP Bio and/or AP Chem.
If you go into the AP level blindly for like those kind of sciences then you will be fucked.
Physics you can do if you know calc, but like bio and chem donโt go straight into AP level for the sake of your soul.
Thank you thatโs all I have to say.
Can anybody explain the differences between Computer Science and Computer Systems Engineering? Can a CSE degree help secure a job in the aerospace or automotive industry, and does a CS major offer similar opportunities?
hi
hello, is there a big difference between the 2024 version of aps books and the 2025 version?
or is it fine if i just buy the 2024 version
Not really a difference
U might want to take this image down cuz u might get urself doxxed
But it doesn't rlly matter 2024 or 2025 the APUSH curriculum is unchanged
I will say though that prepping now is a bit overkill
Let him cook
Thank u Cat man
that big of a price differential is interesting
but yeah the 2024 one is fine
What should I take after alg 2
precalculus
I did AP Chem with no regular level bio
It was fun and I got a 5
But Iโm crazy for chemistry
If you donโt love chemistry you definitely shouldnโt
Hello. I'm kinda in a pickle here. My parents really, really want me to take French Immersion for High School, but I think that the IB courses would be more beneficial. Any advice? The French Immersion course would get me regular admission rates for high school and it's only the French course and one course in French, while IB has a 18% better admission rate ||from what I'm aware of|| and another language is mandatory. I am also aware that I can skip Grade 9 French in IB.
Bruh bio doesnโt help with chem

idk what hsc subjects to choose for yrs 11-12. advice pls. i want to get into university to become either a dermatologist or a psychiatrist so i will need i high atar.
(yes i am from australia so its a little different)
yeah it doesnt lmao
bio is so lame
introductory level chem helps with bio tho
i dont know anythign australia but
anything medical you should put a lot of focus into bio, chem, and related sciences (psychology, anatomy & physiology)
these tend to be weed out classes in university (especially chem)
What is French immersion?
Should I drop out ?
Plan :
- See law school requirements in Australia, melbourne or Sydney
- Go to Tafe and pick those courses for the certificates I need
- Will take Approx 1 and a half years if not less after I'm eligable for law school
Side note:
- I'm 15 and go to a highly academic Private school ranked top 20 in NSW
What are you dropping?
School, currently in year 10
So I could be in law school by the time people are in year 11
Donโt you need a high school diploma to enter university?
Also how would you already have a bachelorโs by year 11?
You can get specific law related certificates from Tafe and enter Law that way
You donโt have any dual enrollment classes?
Down in Australia?
Most uni's in Sydney accept specific certificates from tafe, not sure abt melbourne
Yeah
No, I just go High School
Idk but in the US dropping out of high school looks really bad
Well in AUS you can go Tafe, do Law Certificates and enter through that way
I'll also save a bunch of money
Do you have connections to any lawyer, paralegals, or judges?
So basically in my region, I took French immersion throughout my whole school life, so I qualify to go to a French Immersion high school. This is the definition I got from google: French Immersion is a program designed to offer students opportunities to acquire a high level of proficiency in French while maintaining and developing English language skills.
It'll cost me 4k for that year and a half timeline in tafe approximately, my tuition is 13k per year so after year 12 it'll be 26k compared to 4k spent in tafe
My dad's lawyer that went through Law from America and came to Australia, and a friend that is in Law uni currently
That went to Law Uni through Tafe Certificates
Wait so your deciding from IB French or French immersion?
Just the IB courses (math, english, etc.) or French Immersion
But IB does offer French, but not as profound as French Immersion
Yeah maybe you should drop out but I would get guidance from other people too. I donโt have much knowledge how Australia works especially law
yes chemistry helps with bio
Wait so how many high school credits of French do you have?
The system to get into Law Uni is through an Atar which is kinda like your GPU, but we don't have that, if you score a 96 Atar your on the top 4 percent of people in Australia that did the test for the whole year, thats what you need for Law Uni in sydney which I find really crazy
I haven't entered high school at the moment, making my decisions.
I would ask professionals
So many colleges have foreign language courses as an admission requirement
Always wanted to do law but know getting that high of an Atar is almost impossible, so if I don't get in through my atar I'd have to do Tafe anyway and basically waste 2 years from year 11 and year 12
Because I'm eligible to do tafe now, gotta be 15
๐
@thorn void Do you know which colleges you want to go to?
I'm thinking Waterloo or U of T, and probably teachers college. It isn't set in stone, but it's a plan
Have you looked at admission requirements?
I am pretty sure in IB, a foreign language is required, so that would be checked off
Yeah but many colleges require 2 high school credits in a foreign language
The top ones require 4
Some require 3
But check the admission requirements for your desired colleges
Yes, but I'm looking for Universities. I will go in Canada. As far as I am aware, Waterloo doesn't require a foreign language. I would have to research into it more
Oh your Canada?
Yep
Yeah idk about Canada
๐ญ
Iโm more knowledgeable in US colleges
I'm just thinking, just based on admission rates. French Immersion has the regular rate while IB has 18% more... which one would be better to go for? I am researching, and so far IB offers more opportunites
Makes sense, thats alright. Thanks for trying I guess
IB offers colleges credit so I would assume it is better but make sure too look at admission requirements just in case
Canโt get college credit if you ainโt get accepted
Also why canโt you take both?
I'll look into requirements more in-depth.
Ok, send me a DM if you have any more questions
So basically, in my region, there are 3 high schools, Fully English that offers AP courses, Another English but with French courses that offers IB, and a French Immersion. The French Immersion school doesn't offer the IB courses and the IB school doesn't offer the French Immersion. It's strange
Thank you
Canada has AP?
Yep
Not in the high schools available to me, and DSST, I'm not too sure, I don't think so
Oh so yโall donโt got at home proctoring up there or sumn?
May I ask what that is? Home schooling?
Like you take the test at home online instead of going to a testing center
Wait you know what CLEP and DSST is right?
I am aware of CLEP
I lowkey thought Canada was behind in education ๐
It is availavble remotely
Compared to US, very much so
I ainโt know they have AP and allat ๐
It's limited. Its so complicated ๐ญ But hey, atleast it's available
So, I'm gonna research all these exams, can I DM you later on if I have any questions?
Yeah
Thank you :D
Not US specifically, world history and Canadian
Canada having APs is bewildering me rn
Really? I thought it was normal
I thought AP was only a US thing ๐ญ
I know its not popular in Canada
As a marylander I'mma stranggle these Canadians
Oh dang ๐จ
So like whatโs yโall opinion on the war of 1812๐
Guys Idk.
Yo is it true yโall celebrate thanksgiving early?
I'm not cultured enough in Canadian heritage to know this kinda stuff
Gotta ask the Newfoundlanders about that
Interacting with a Canadian is like interacting with an alien species fr ๐๐ญ
I didn't know we were that bad, I thought we were just bootleg Americans
Is there a rivalry or sumn?
Hey, I here a lot of talking about dual-credit courses, but what about taking community college courses that just appeal to me, which don't necessarily need to count for credit? Would those look nice?
Iโm a Canadian- boo?
Half the world has AP exams ๐ญ
Most top unis aren't gonna even care about your cc credits. If it's a DE course, it'll help your WGPA and improve the rigor of your academics, so yeah, it's worth it, and colleges don't care what courses you take if you have the main balanced framework of classes they recommend
๐ค
๐ญ
Are you aiming for top universities?
@deft maple Your message(s) have been flagged as spam and have been removed.
Hi guys! A very general question- what are a few top unis in the US to pursue journalism courses at?
yes
If anyone could help I am interested in doing software engineering in uni and currently in grade 9
I am just trying to think ahead
Would Physics ATAR (in Australia (WA)) be useful or does it not matter for software engineering and in general computer science
For all the Americans ATAR is basically the same thing as AP in Western Australia
Oh yeah also middle school doesnโt exist and it is just Primary school (Kindy to Year 6) and High School (Year 7 to Year 12) so I already know what my school offers
Assuming ATAR is like AP you would have to check if your desired university will accept physics for your major. Physics could be a gen ed though if Australia has those.
hello! Im going into 9th in september but in uni i would like to study law, what aps, should i take to help me for that (im aiming for top univerisities)
ATAR is not the same thing as AP. Your ATAR is a rank from 0.00 to 99.95 in relation to the other year 12s graduating across Australia (based on your performance on your year 12 subjects)
So a 80.00 means you are in the 80th percentile of the graduating cohort
On the other hand, AP stands for Advanced Placement, and provides undergraduate University level courses and exams to high school students
But to answer your question, you will have to check the university's prerequisites to be certain
Is ATAR Australian AP?
I am currently in the IB curriculum; which math in IB is better for me to choose if I am planning to take machine learning as my profession in the future? Is math analysis better or math applications?
I mean is ATAR like AP just Australian?
Of course they're different
Physics isnโt a prerequisite for the course Iโm interested in Iโm just wondering if it would be useful
Also I know ATAR and AP arenโt the same I was just trying to make it easier to understand for non Australians as it is kind of similar
How many dollary doos does the ATAR test cost for aussies?
No, it isn't
???
The ATAR is not a test
Nvm
This ATAR stuff is hurting my american brain
In the meantime, Imma eat some burger king
Is it better to opt for Bsc Physics (Honours) 3 years or Bsc Physics (Research) 4years
im interested in research but taking the research course will make my journey a year longer . Is the priority for PG after UG is same for with and without research course
It is various courses and a external exam for all the courses you take that make up your ranking
Also how did me asking if physics was useful for computer science turn into this
hi
you are
the US state i live in borders canada
y'all are literally bootleg americans
i love visiting vancouver bc btw
Best study resources for chemistry, I have to self study the first few units of AP chem this summer and I don't know where to start
This year i wanted to take AP human geography what should i do? Another one i wanted to take comp sci prin but i needed to finish algebra I so what should i do skip a math year to maybe be able to take that class and go to calc ab? What should i do?
why couldnโt you take ap hug
Youโre cooked
for ap csp, you can take algebra I over summer or skip it but if you wanna skip it, make sure to self study algebra I cuz itโs really important for geometry and algebra II
Im taking it
Yeah. The reason I said it wasn't a test is because your internal assessments count towards your ATAR too
It's a bit different from each state though
NSW has HSC
NT + SA has SACE
etc
They said i can take it over the semester
Should i do it for 2 times so i can go to calc BC?
algebra 1 twice?
algebra 2 isnt a college course so i think so
unless im wrong
theres a pre-ap algebra 2 tho
Anyone doing IGCSE? i need help with subjecv=t selection
what are some good aps to self study?
ap psychology ap human geography
whats your favorite subject?
hug would also be reasonable bc i just self studied apes
science
i was gonna say that one next since its pretty easy
they come out july 1st right?
oh okay lol
funnily enough i haven't fr taken an ap yet
i've just self studied apes
you taking any next year?
ima take ap precalc and maybe apush but if i dont do apush then im gonna self study ap pysch
oh cool
i have some friends taking apush next year
and i'm taking precalc too but it's dual credit my school doesn't have ap yet
ap precalc at least
ayy we in the same boat then
good luck to them
right that's what i'm saying
i'm not as oriented toward that and plus it's yearlong at my school which is not my thing
i could take two science classes instead of that
fr that's fun
i couldnt do that๐ญ
i wish i could take two science classes i love science but my school is strict on schedules, i'll try to ask my counselor can i take biology online tho
that's so ridiculous i hate that for you
i'm taking the rest of my required sciences next year so i can take ap bio or chem junior year
i'm going into 10th
those are also yearlong
which is so dumb bro
im making a powerpoint rn for my mom on why i should switch schools but she really doesnt want me to
samee
that's real
yeah it is
the only yearlong classes at my school are apush and ap bio and chem
everything else is a sem
all my classes are yearlong but i feel like they shouldnt be
i had to take a yearlong of government but its only half a credit
oh...
that's wild
i would hate that dude
the way our schedule works though i only have 4 classes a semester
and it EATS
it wasnt that bad but all we did was projects and debates
THIS
is how it should be
dude it's so wonderful
it makes everything so easy
or easIER
and course progression is easier too
like i took french one and two this year
its like this for me too and i hate it
it was cool for a month but then for the rest of the year it was childs play
ayy thats whats up
do you wanna graduate early or are you just getting credits when you can
im trying to get like you๐
oh trust me it's not all sunshine and roses
what college are you guys trying to get into
if it makes you feel better i don't have three required credits rn i should have gotten ๐
lowkey anywhere i'm not picky
in a perfect world maybe johns hopkins or duke
now i'm taking gym and health next year with freshmen ๐
im tryna get into oxford
oh cool
uhh idk yet
praying for you
i feel like you could do it
you too
thanks i'm gonna need it
lowkey i hope
i need more activities
i only do student gov
i actually was thinking of applying there
me too ima lock in rising junior year
yearbook club isnt gonna cut it
real
i'm gonna try to get more involved next year
the beginning of next school year will be so busy though
cuz hoco
class president is not for the weak
Feels great 3rd Term Class Pres.
Bro has W charisma.
Suprising considering my troubles pulling
niceee
Saying if i should do alegbra I and geometry on my freshman year and then sophmore Algebra II and pre calc
Help- I picked vocal chior and realized I canโt sing-
3rd term class vice president for me
ohh yeah you should do algebra 1 and geometry together but idk if you can do algebra 2 and precalc together
its not impossible but its gonna be hard bc precalculus builds off of algebra 2
I wanna do that im def doing it ima change my layout of my classes and talk to the counselors
Dang
yeah definitely go for it
what if you do algebra 2 in the summer after alg 1/geometry then precalculus sophmore calc bc junior
Calc AB would be my junior but that class is super important because it makes calc BC easier
ab junior bc senior?
Yeah
Its easy because calc AB helps out with calc bc since it stacks together, calc BC will be easy because you will know everything that you did in calc ab and it will be some extra stuff to learn so you wonโt have to worry
I feel like the only way to make a class officer/student council position on your college app actually valuable is if u are able to keep getting reelected
People doing A-levels, how did you pick your subjects?
you have a 9th grade class president in your school? For us its just 9 people who are represenatives for our entire grade (we have 900 ppl)
Im one of them but we don't do much considering its a lot of people for 1 grade
my school has student councils for each grade and then a student body student council
so we've got 5 of each position there's probably 40 people involved total
40 ppl per grade?
for us its 1 rep. per 100 ppl per grade, then a student body of 5 people for the entire student council
40 people for our whole school
our school is smaller we only have like 1400 kids
each grade has probably 7 or 8 people representing
and then we have a student body group
I want to be a pilot here are my grade 11 courses I want to switch geo to earth science and physics for something else because for the waterloo requirements you can choose other easier courses like data management so what should I do
should I do ap world history or just do regular world history over the summer
cause i enrolled in a summer course but I can still opt out
Yes
Yes
im currently doing a test to skip algebra 2 rn so is it easier to do that?
What do you do in ap seminar, and would you suggest the class or not?
Hi I want to go into orthopedics so medical and Iโm trying to choose my APs for junior year, so far I have taken aphug, calc AB, and apush.
Iโm thinking of taking ap calc bc, ap bio, ap lang, ap psych, and maybe ap environmental?? I donโt know what to do and I would appreciate any advice on what to keep or switch out :)
Definitely take AP Bio, I would try and take AP Chem as well if possible
And take Calc BC
ap calc, bio, and lang is what i would recommend ๐ญ
depends on your definition of hard but math and lit were the only ib classes that i felt that i had to work very hard at
then again i didn't take physics which i'v heard is one of the more challenging ones
Calc ab, bc is not needed ๐ถโ๐ซ๏ธ
Take ab u really dont need to take calc bc
I donโt think I can balance AP Chem with bio, since they are both double class periods, but what about ap environmental? Should I take physics instead?
I already took calc ab though
๐ญ๐ญ
Yo guys I want to study Mechanical Engineering. Are these good subjects to chose?
Math (compulsory)

Also Iโm planning on taking the SAT and I need help so do you guys know and good tutors or books I can use to study
@ me
Quick question. I'm going into 9th as a freshman. I will be taking geometry. My school offers an AP stat course. should I take it?
No, since you haven't even taken algebra 2 or calc yet.
AP Stat is usually for seniors on a advanced math track
seems good to me
its usually a course u take in your junior or senior year'
uhh prob not, iโd recommend taking it with alg 2 or after alg 2
Do you need AP stat for your major?
If theyโre high school level courses colleges donโt really care. Select the courses that will help you graduate. For example do French if you need a foreign language credit
I already took algebra 2
My school does it different. First we take algebra 1, then algebra 2, then geometry
so as an elective with geometry in 9th I can take AP stat
But do you need AP stat for your major?
I took pre algebra in 6th, then algebra 1 in 7th, Algebra 2 in 8th, so its geometry in 9th (possibly with AP stat)
yeah
I can take it either in 9th or wait till I'm a senior and take it then when I take Calc BC
Do you also need that for your major?
yes
Wait what is your major?
What APs are you taking this year?
history and possibly ap stat
Which history?
world
So is the history credit a gen ed?
i believe so yes
i'd take it
no point in waiting imo if you already took algebra 2 unless you want too
@worldly flume Iโm doing English 3 honors next year instead of ap lang
oh okok so ap lang ur senior yr? fair enough ๐ญ
Yes
Senior yr
100%
I could do ap lit senior year if I want to but I will do lang senior
B- or higher in English 3 honors in order to take ap lang senior year but Iโm confident I can get an A- or higher
I got an A+ in English 2 accelerated this year it was too ez
Agreed
u will fs
does anyone have like a template i could use to record shadowing and research hours. My school has one for volunteer hours but not for anything else?
I like your background of the trees
TYYY
What the hell
No way they are letting 9th graders take ap stat ๐ญ๐ญ
my school let me take 5
We can take aps at any grade ๐ถโ๐ซ๏ธ
well middle school and above
yeah i took AP human in 8th
๐
schools are desperate fr

What do you need?
I was taking math 55 when I was in the womb
well fist , i cant find a college i want to focus on
Have you tried college board college search?
and i plan on going to a cs uni in the future , for this and to beef up my application , i have done software engineering and data intro internships (virtual) of ford , EA and JPMorgan , is this good or meh
Also are you aiming for top schools Ike the Ivies?
Yeah itโs good
hell naw , my ECs are too bad for this and i dont think my SATs would be over 1500
and i cant affoard more than a 60k tuition
So what state do you live in?
i only have a few requirements
im in india ,delhi but my dream is to go to NYC
only a few requirements - tuition under 60k , acceptence rate 20-25 and should be achievable
Isnโt going international super competitive?
But idk how international admissions work
less competitive then here , my brother gave the JEE , he got 98.9% and couldnt find a collage
NO college wanted him
Damn
Wait so like since your not a US citizen do you qualify for fasfa?
Go on college boardโs website and go to their college search
whats that supposed to mean? srry
i dont know what that is
alright
Financial aid but I think itโs only for US citizens
NYC is expensive so
Your gonna need hella scholarships
well , its been my dream to study in nyc
So what colleges have you came up with so far on college board college search?
gimme one se
was talking to someone
Ccouldnt find a single one
Bruh
Like not a single one thatโs sounds good?
nope
but later i got with a guy and made a list
Target Colleges
1 Cornell University - 17%
2 Princeton University - 2.4%
Colleges that you think you have a pretty good chance at
1 University of Rochester - 20%
2 Fordham University - 52%
Colleges that you are basically 100% sure you will get in (Safety Colleges)
1 Stony Brook University - 48.1%
2 Syracuse University - 57.2%
3 Binghamton State University - 42%
idk that website aint get me a good one
btw these rates are for international students like me
These are not safety colleges
๐ญ
Mid 40 50s is not a safety fyi
Oh whoever made this list is def not right
um
he was the only person who helped me in this entire server
i litteraly got no other person helping me
Not everyone is equipped to help, wants to help, or checks
The amt of ppl in this server isnt a true est
ik , i found 1 and i gotta make do with what i got
just trying to find collages and ask if my ECs are good
my ECs i think are doubtful
My courses for junior
Ap calc bc
Ap physics C mechanics
APUSH
English 11
Ap cs a
Ap seminar
That's a lot of APs...
Want more
why not AP lang
actually
seminar + lang might murder your soul
Is AP seminar really necessary for your major or gen ed?
I ainโt even taking APs no more
Iโm just going dual enrollment and clep from here on out
arent u a sophomore
AP is lowkey overrated
Yeah
I ainโt going to Ivy Leagues, Iโm not smart enough ๐ญ
Yeah but APs take two semesters so I feel like you can take more DEs and get more college credit than you would with AP
Oh yeah I ainโt going out of state either
sure is collegeboard a nonprofit company?
Yeah, I respect that
its easier to study tbh
Bro how does the ceo have a 2 million dollar salary ๐ญ
yeah apparently CB is "nonprofit"
"nonprofits" fr
company doesn't make a profit, the owner does
u do u
Yeah but the college credit is all dependent on one exam
Wait what are college credits used for again
I took 3 this year, I think I did pretty good
skipping basic college courses (saves money + time)
Ya need credits
Ah
CEO David Coleman made 1.67 million dollars in 2019. That same year, 9 other members of the College Board made $500,000+ dollars in executive compensation. The College Board is registered as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization which means it is legally considered a public serving company.
oh hell naw
the "nonprofit" money is going to boardmembers
โDonationsโ lmfao
