Parish?
They really said "Doctor, engineer or lawyer" 💀💀💀
It’s weird I think it’s unique to Louisiana it’s just how the state is split up
Oh
For education and housing
Honestly a certificate ain’t that important
Also the remy icon is lowkey amazing
Ok ima hop off
What is this certificate called?
Cya
Bye
Engineering design and development
It’s just a play
Plus
To the class
If u take the engineering course the class is required
Honestly jobs would care more about a degree than a random certificate you get at a random school in Louisiana
Yeah but the whole point is should I take the engineering course in highschool or should I go to the traditional course
That’s what I’m stuck ebteeen
Between
Go do job shadowing
And focus on college credit courses than these random high school courses
Colleges aren’t gonna care if you took high school engineering course or not
DM if you have more questions
I’m also an aspiring engineer
Bet
Also job shadow your family members that are in finance
Oki, and if all goes horrible I’ll just turn to public policy because my family knows aids for congressmen and senators so I could just shadow them
thats a really competetive school if ive ever seen one, 49 in the country is wild
I also got one other question, my school offers 14 APs and I’ve tried every possibility and the max amount APs we can take from freshman and sohphmore year is 3. So basically if my school offers 14 AP’s how many should I take(including the ones I do in my senior year)
What’s this channel for? I wanna know more cuz I have some questions and it might help me out l8r on
Your school having 14 aps doesn’t mean that you have to do all 14 aps, the amount of APs depend on you and how well you can handle it
What classes you should take and such
You should take APs that go towards your major or gen eds
Oki thx because I’m pretty sure I could handle like 10-11, and if I have any empty classes I could take duel enrollment for college credit
🔥
Anyone know who’s the best calc 1 teacher for UH ?
university of houston?
u should go to ratemyprofessor and search for your college, then select mathematics
its basically previous students rating all professors
Okie
If I take Dual Enrollment classes do I have to take more classes in my senior year.
I know you have to take a certain amount of classes in highschool, does Dual Enrollment count as one of those classes?
Could someone help me out with Uni selection, need some advice and some guidance. Preferably someone who has taken BSc Computer science and knows criteria and what not.
Usually DE is built into ur daily classes
Check ur schools DE policies
I ask your guidance counselor if DE counts towards college credit and high school credit. Typically it does.
But are these useful to your major or gen eds?
yo i wanna be an aerospace engineer too
I really want to work in f1 what are some of the more social aspects of the workplace and what degrees would be needed
should i make a tentative schedule for my classes in uni next year before my orientation date or do i work it out with my academic advisor then. i’m not rlly sure what to do
yo guys whats the difference between electrical and computing engineering major and an electrical engineering major? I want to have a career in computer engineering. which one should i pursue? im going to uni in 2 yrs
If you’re interesting and passionate in it then yes. If your only in it for the money you ain’t gonna last long
Idek how much money is given for this major
Will it be enough to pay off my college debt?
Atleast
Average salary is around 100k
Do it aerospace because your interested in it
Would you say you enjoy math and science?
Same here 👋
Yo ap comp sci principles is easier than ap comp sci A right?
let's look at the numbers
let's say ur going in state for college
maybe 15k per year
15k * 4 = 60k
there is a demand for aerospace engineering jobs so if you get lucky we'll assume you get one right off the bat
entry-level might be 80k per year
let's say you need 4k per month to live comfortably + income tax
4k * 12 = 48k
which means 32k left for other stuff
plz keep in mind this is purely my estimates and i might be incorrect
and this heavily depends if you go in state or out of state and the cost of living and wheter you decide to buy a house or not and other factors
but generally you should be able to considering that aerospace engineering jobs tend to be on the higher end of salary range
I think I saw that average for Aerospace engineer is 120k
At the big companies it’s like 100k salary
That’s like 20k more than the other industries for mechanical engineers
Hiyyyaa! :D I don't know where to ask this question, but does anyone know if environmental science & anatomy and physiology feature a lot of chemistry? I have two bins brimming with chemistry notes that I don't know if I should keep.
is it bad if i only take 2 years of a language? i'd rather take csa but i have to choose between the two
Yea I have the same question. I decided to sign up for a third year next year but other classes I would prefer
does it matter significantly to competetive colleges
Course guidelines are pretty much just to make sure you had a balanced course load and didn't just take the easiest weighted classes
At most T20s at least
Teehee
when i took ap environmental sci, there were minimal amounts of chem materials so yea 😭
so is it more worth just taking spanish
even though csa will be better for my gpa
and i genuinely just dont want to take spanish 😭
No 😭
Did you listen to nothing i said 😭
well csa is the easiest weighted class i could take
They don't care.
Course guidelines exist just to provide some structure cus students keep asking and to serve as a basic understanding that it is not good to just take easy APs, and that you should have balanced coursework. You don't need to follow them to the letter, 2 years of a foreign language are fine
Chat, I'm worried for next year...
6 AP classes are waiting for me..
Das the goal
Honestly I'm just trying to make up for not having any in 9th
World, Euro, and Art History, Computer Science Principals, Computer Science, and Pre-Calculus
The plan before was to have AP Music Theory instead of Comp Science, and AP Hindi (FREE gpa booster) instead of French 2, but turns out the other highschool has those classes instead of the one I'll be going to
Sad times
I've heard, and seen in SSs Pre/Calculus stuff that don't even have the equal sign
But arrow/curved lines (?)
Idk what that means, but les see
I heard AP Precalc is pretty free.
I’m taking it next year, but anyone who’s not math centered may have trouble with it.
Math is the freest core class
The more you know
What else would be 🤔
How ru gonna take ap stats if u don't take precalc in sophomore
6.0 on a 6.0 scale?
So Mathematics: Application and Interpretation, or Analysis and Approaches in 11th
Isn't IB out of 45?
Why do u wanna take IB anyway 🤔
Because AP looks good on Collage Applications, right...
IB also looks good
But both...
Wdym both 😭
Yeye
If u take AP courses that's the same thing to doing IB
Colleges don't expect u to take both
If you've got a 4.7 wgpa, you've got nothing to worry about, and that's easily possible with APs 🤔
If u wanna take ur wgpa higher, just worry about ECs 🤔
Like ECs matter wayy more at that point 🤔
Like 2 years ago, of the top 10 list from my highschool, #5 got wayy more scholarships, his reasoning was that he did IB and also did the AP tests for credit
Merit scholarships?
merit scholarship criteria vary a lot, so sure that might help
I was just talking about it on an admissions perspective
Man, Imma be honest... Idrk what you mean by ib being at a 45 scale, nor what ECs are...
I only really locked in like the second semester of last school year
They're the most important factor after essays 😭
Also ur American right 🤔
Ye
Sit down Lil bro 🤔
buddy
That's not how it works for IB tho 😭🤔😔
They add 3 points to make it 45 by including three random things
And then 45 is turned into a /5.0 wgpa
Iirc
How many APs did u take in freshman and sophomore 🤔
This was at the walls of my school and, my thinking was that ib just the same as AP, just that it's a program, so if you fail 1 class you get kicked out of the whole thing🫣
Softmore next year
No, IB has an overall grade of 45, with each subject having a 7 🤔
Freshman, wanted to do AP Human World Geography, counselor said it was full...
And that scale is not how most unis do it
Most unis will recalc ur gpa to 5.0
And an A will be a 5.0 🤔
Oh wait this isn't the same as the one I saw at school
It was like:
"AP:
97 6.0
93-97 5.666
Etc
And AdVac subtract 1 whole point
Subtract another for on level"
So the max grade is a 45 instead of 100? Huh, interesting..
Bro have u done any research at all 😭
Nae
Lmao, prolly should do some of my own...
Tbh, I was planning on bothering my counselor the whole of 3 years lel
tbh it all depends on the person, but id say prob bio
And the teacher*
Should I take AP African American Studies or sociology? I want to minor in sociology + the class gives me college credit, but idk if its considered less rigorous than AP AAS
i think they are all easy. Geometry was personally hard for me, not because of the content, but because of the teacher. He barely taught us which forced us to learn pretty much the entire class on our own.
dawg what is that ap
i literally know nothing about that ap
so
idk what to tell you
its in the name
wow thanks Einstein
then i dont see the issue
do whichever u want
oh hell nah ap african studies is wild
take it for shits and gigs
Rigor within APs doesn't matter.
that’s what i’m sayin lmao
huh 💀
my bad for being interested in a class
nothing wrong w that, i would take the ap since yk college credit
both give me college credit
the sociology class is a college class thats provided at my school
it isnt an ap obv though
i wish i could take both though, african american studies seems like an interesting class
ty :)
yeaa dw i feel like that constantly cs i wanna take sm different classes 😭
praying i get into brown so i can take all the different classes that i want 🤞
oo brown is on my college list too
but thats so real 😭
if this is something ur very adamant about, this will be ur dream school
its a hella reach but still
I’m going to be a junior next year and I’m having a hard time deciding between english 3 honors and ap language and composition
Is English your strong suit?
Also depends on the teacher, and what other classes you're taking.
ap lang easily
I’m scared because I’m not the best writer and the teacher is pretty hard
oh dw i was the same way but the class was so helpful, which is definitely gonna help me for my college essays
i took it junior year btw 😭
Oh
I know it’s gonna be helpful but
My friend is saying that I might get a D first quarter
I’m just scared I don’t want my gpa to be low
Because my current english teacher said at first it’ll hurt and the class will be quite hard but after a month or two I will do fine
I mean I know it’s helpful probably will be the most useful ap class I take in high school
wait does that mean you are taking ap lit now
what do u usually get for english? also can u analyze? 😭
dw i thought the same but my grade never dropped below 96% youll be finee dww
I moved up to accelerated english in the beginning of the year
I was in regular
But
This year in accelerated
I got an A+
no we dont have enough ppl to take that class for senior yr
100% first quarter second quarter 95.6 third quarter 97.0 fourth quarter- not done 89.5 need to fix this
But
The thing is
My teacher
Is deemed like the most easiest english teacher for accelerated
Everyone does good
Like if you had her you would get an A definitely
I got 70-80s on the essays and open ended responses
She’s not mean just strict
The work is hard
The other ap lang teacher
Is strict grader
But really really nice
thats even better, she’ll prepare u for the ap lang exam
Though I will get this teacher
I can’t drop out tho I’m scareddd first ap course too
oo damn first 😭
uhh
She said she’s a sweet person to
I obviously know it’s gonna be hard
And If I’m actually gonna take the class
I’m not gonna bs
yeaa youll be fine dw
I asked someone who’s in honors english this year if I should take lang
He said this
LEMME HEAR
I’m not saying you’re dumb, but you just moved up to accel not to long ago. You were in academic in the beginning of the year. Weren’t you going to do Lang in 12th grade?
Well
but i highly recommend to take it
If I do english 3 honors
It would
Mean senior year ap lang
It would probably prepare me more
But I haven’t taken any ap courses
I want colleges to see that I’ve taken
yeaa thats what im worried abt 😭
Why?
rigor is extremely important to colleges so u should take ap lang/other ap classes
I emailed the lang teacher and she gave me some advice
cs it’s definitely different compared to like non ap classes
what was it
In the meantime, I will tell you from my experience over the last several years that a student with your profile ("low PSAT score," from level 2 to level 1) would do best in 11 Honors first before making the leap more comfortably to AP Lang for senior year.
level 1 is just accelerated level 2 is regular sorry for the confusion
she wants u to take it senior yr then?
she kinda is 😭
Ig so
i mean
I don’t know 😭
if ure very worried u should j take it senior ur
And I’m gonna get her like 85%
but like at the same time
it wouldnt help u as much for like college essays
cs ure taking the class senior yr
Should I ask a student
Who has her
On Monday
yeaa ofc and lmk what u decide
bless ur heart

nah thats crazy
ure not even in the class
n doing all that 😭
Summer reading
😕
And I have my Spanish honors summer assignment
That’s why I’ve been stressed out deciding whether to do lang or not
I’m going to meet with the teacher anyway this week
yeaa good
Can you explain sorry
Like what type of assignments were they
dont apologize 😭
but uh
it was alot of like analyzing passages and like answering questions based of that passage
and sometimes we had to write timed essays
theres 3 u need to know how to write, synthesis, rhetorical, and argument
yup
Def heard that from a student who has the strict grader teacher
Timed essays 40 minutes
Well
I’m used to it kind of
In history we write leq’s timed so
I’m decently used to it
OMG DONT REMIND ME 😭🙏
LEQS, DBQS, SAQS
yeaa therefore u should be fine
DBQ’s oh noo
😢
I know
On the ap lang exam
You get a lot of sources
For one of the essays
yea for the synthesis
Synthesis
trust
Lang next year senior year I get to do ap lit
you only rly need to take one though tbh
do u have any other aps ure interested in?
Senior year I want to do
One ap
Science
Related
And maybe a history one
That’s it
Prob gonna do apes or physics 1
omg ues
Thankfully
English, history, science
Look
What scares me from lang
Is the first quarter
I will struggle a lot
I’m just scared yk
And my writing will definitely adapt
yeaa ikk what u mean
BUT I RLY THINK ITLL CHALLENGE U
IN A GOOD WAY
and not to mention how good itll look on ur transcript for colleges
True
Btw
Do you know
If colleges
Check
Just final grades for like let’s say
Sophomore year
Or do they look at every quarter
uhh im not sure but i would assume the final 😭
so real
My lowest grade this whole year was chem
what was it
i agree, you should take it
ive been telling myself since 8th grade im not taking ap lang but im gonna force myself to take it
real my physics teacher wouldve been my chem teacher this upcoming year but hes not coming back🙏
chem teachers are always either good or bad no in between 😭
he could not teach at all
TAKE IT
That you get to pick
no bc why did the whole class fail a test before
Did taking lang help a little with your sat score
that says something about a teacher
Some kid dropped out after chapter 3
somewhat
ima be real
not significantly
but it did help on the writing portion
but not every state has to write a rhetorical essay for the sats
praying we get a good teacher next year bc i will not fail chemistry
Best
thats okk only practice i jumped 200 from my psat to sat so youre fine
do you have to take that before the sat because i was just going straight for the sat in the fall
yeaa usually ppl take the psat then the sat
What did you use
Khan
Academy?
nope
alot of ppl say that but its not for me
i used bluebook
the practice tests on there helped sm
You just did practice tests and picked up your mistakes from what you got wrong
Would you watch like a YouTube video for a math concept you didn’t know
once u take alot of practice sats 😭
since yall are here in the chat.. how are my classes for the next two years? i might take ap pyschology or ap comp sci principles online or like something else
10th:
AP Precalculus
Humanities (maybe apush)
Chemistry
Spanish 2
Film or Theater
11th:
AP Calc AB
AP Biology
English 11 (maybe ap lang)
Economics
Spanish 3
Principles of Art or Creative Writing
omg yes i did but my brother helped me alot for math so he was like my yt 😭
Someone in my chemistry class got a 1400………
Ok thanks for all the advice
Sorry
For asking a lot of questions
yess thank you!! im not asking these questions but getting good information from them lol
i like this schedule and take those aps theyre easy 😭
never apologize for asking questions
and ofc i gotchu
loll im glad to help 😭🙏
🤓 um not everyone thinks its easy ☝️
well yeah duh but imo they are
crazy
real shi
11th
Ap bio
Apush
Ap lang
Ap chem
Precal/trig
Latin
Am I cooked yes or no

possibly
no
Rip.
How do my subjects look for Year 11 and Year 12? My state follows the SACE curriculum, and I am limited to six subjects maximum. I'm in Year 10, and the first semester is almost over. There are no APs at my school. I want to go into Medicine, or possibly Engineering.
Year 11:
Specialist Mathematics (Stage 1)
Mathematical Methods (Stage 1)
English Literary Studies (Stage 1)
Biology (Stage 1)
Chemistry (Stage 1)
Chinese Continuers (Stage 2)
Year 12:
Specialist Mathematics (Stage 2)
Mathematical Methods (Stage 2)
English Literary Studies (Stage 2)
Biology (Stage 2)
Chemistry (Stage 2)
[Study line]
Where do u wanna go to uni?
I'm not really sure; possibly an Ivy League, but that's unrealistic
That course selection is good, what're you doing for your ECs
And what have your grades been like
Semester not over yet, but right now A's in every subject and a have a B in maths
By ECs I mean extracurriculars like clubs, volunteering, sports, passion projects and competitions
What about in freshman year
9th grade
Ninth grade was still middle school for me (Australia)
Doesn't matter, us unis r gonna look at 4 years of hs
All A's I think, might have been a B in maths though
Ok, now what about ECs?
Does participation count?
And have you given the sat/act yet?
Yes but it's terrible
Volunteering, sports (unless ur really good) and clubs are pretty much all low impact, and it's not even worth mentioning if you don't have any sports awards, club leadership or volunteer award, not as an international
I don't think I can do it in my area
Most unis r gonna require it by 2027 apps
I searched it up and there's no place to do the SAT or ACT in my area
That's just what happens when you live on a low population density continent 🤔
My ecs are all low impact I guess
Would this heavily impact my application?
And are you looking for a considerable amount of aid
You need them
I thought I saw a video Gohar made that it's not required for the next four years?
Probably
That's Harvard iirc
Like i said, most, not all
If u wanna apply to like 3 T20s it could work
Applying to 3 T20s with <1% acceptance chance sounds like a waste of time overall then atp
Just the bitter truth
But hey, this is why I'm here, would you like to know more about ECs?
Let me get the whole message wait
For admissions into an ivy, or a similar T20 or even a T50, the biggest factor is essays, and this is true for MiT too, though they're slightly less important.
You should be spending 4-5 months on your common app and supplementary essays, tying in your interests, qualities, and themes from your ECs and the high school clssses you took. There are people better than me to take essay advice from tho.
Then is your gpa and ECs. For your GPA, an A in every class (~93%} is a 4.0 gpa and colleges don't really care about much above that.
You can't really have weighted GPA, even if you took AP exams that wouldn't count for your gpa, so it's not really worth worry about weighed GPA.
An EC is anything, from leadership to community impact, and the higher impact an EC is, the better
Impact in terms of ECs doesn't mean community impact though, it basically means impact to an AO, which shows your passion for an activity.
Impact refers to how unique an EC is, and, intuitively, stuff that's harder to do is more unique, which is why it's a better EC. Community impact, initiative, etc, are still a part of impact, though.
Impact can be from obtaining awards in competitions or other stuff related to that activity, or like the money raised by a non profit, traffic for a website you made as a passion project etc, with the two major medium-high impact ECs being competitions (like olympiads and science fairs) and passion projects (like Research, social media accounts, non profits or Businesses, CS passion projects or stuff based on a unique idea).
You should have 8-10 ECs somehow related to your major or a major interest (or not related at all but not related to any other major directly either, example: debate), and out of those you want to have 1 or 2 spikes. In my opinion, you should have one spike if your major is also the thing you wanna do 3-4 ECs in, and if you wanna focus less on major then you can have two, with the second one being tangential or a major interest.
What is an "AO"
Before you start your ECs you're gonna wanna choose a major, a type of engineering or pre med
Admissions Officers. The people who read apps
Probably pre med
Hi i asked this earlier and got some advice but i wanted advice from you
I’m deciding between English 3 honors or ap language and composition for junior year
Any advice?
Guys, are these subjects good for an Ivy League political science major and economics minor (and later law school)?
IGCSE:
• English (First Language)
• Urdu (Language)
• Mathematics
• Islamiyat
• Pakistan Studies
• Physics
• Chemistry
• Biology
• Additional Maths
• Economics
• Global Perspectives
• World History
• Sociology
A Level:
• English
• Mathematics
• Economics
• Law
• History
• Sociology
Someone pin this in #extracurriculars
👎
Goblin modee
Na
Holy shit can you manage all those subjects?
okay then
thank youu
Yall can you rate these classes 1 of 10 based of difficulty? Thanks
-AP biology
-AP world history
-AP precalc
-Spanish year 4
Depends what you want to study and your gen eds
But AP precalc is pretty useless
I plan on studying all of them, just wanted to know what to expect
What are Gen eds?
Courses at a university that all students must take
Ah, much appreciated
You plan to major in biology, history, and math?
Brother I am a sophomore in high school . I ain't got one clue what I'm doing after this
Oh mb you want to rate them based on difficulty my fault
I thought that said usefulness
But I would say AP world’s difficulty depends how much you’re interested in history
6 or 7? probably w 10 being the most difficult
individually
ap bio- 8
ap world - 4
ap precalc 6
Spanish 7
idk though it depends alot on the teachers 😭
yeah also depends on how good you even are on those subjects like some people could be better at math than history
oh yes fs, being interested and good in a subject for sure helps alot
Call me a nerd but I do math for fun, but history makes me want to commit mass genocide on smurfs, if you get what I'm saying
ah so whap gonna be rough
i got a 6 on the ap exam without studying
suprisingly easy
yeah i feel you lol
someone gets it
walking is too much and its better to just get it out the way
now i wouldnt recommend taking ap running
unless your like really dedicated to all the work
i heard ap lunch is a lot too
But if you take it, you get college credits and you only eat breakfast and dinner in college.
i could live with that
then i can take a class during what would be my lunchtime
guys i've been looking over my schools course load stuff.
for me to get all the classes i want in sophmore year i have to take:
ap sem, honors alg 2 + AP precalc, pre-ap bio + pre-ap chem, honors world history + honors gov, french
it's technically possible
with no electives and if i take pe over the summer
no my sophmore
Ok
freshies arent allowed aps
Still pretty good.
Honors Algebra 2 is a free 100 for most STEM based people along with Chem and Bio.
my junior would be:
ap lit, ap calc ab + bc, AP bio + chem, AP US world history, honors french
AP Sem and most languages are also pretty easy.
Don’t take both AB and BC
i plan on taking AP French for an APID
BC just repeats everything in AB and adds a bit more.
i want to take every math class for the gpa boost
class rank
algebra and precalculus at the same time?
double up
Class rank isn’t actually taken into consideration in college applications.
it's my own goal
Bcuz many people are moving into disadvantaged districts to get a higher rank.
Alright, but I highly suggest taking a different AP because that’s just way too much work on the same stuff.
ohhhhh
I doubled up on Algebra 2 and Geometry in 9th grade.
by senior year id have:
ap lang, ap stats, ap phych, ap ev + physics 1, ap frencg
we aren't allowed unless we plan to graduate early
Your schedule seems alright; but the amount of coursework and studying required would be crazy. You probably wouldn’t have time to work on extracurriculars and honors/competitions.
i'll make it work.
Each AP class can take up to 2 hours of work.
i work best under pressure, besides, others make it work
my brother did all of it while working 21 hrs a week
Or u dont
i plan on being in around 5 clubs (founding 1) + fall sport
?
That’s not going to work for AP Chem and some of the tougher ones.
i have photographic memory when it comes to studies
I got that 5 for ap chem 😂😂
and psych
anyone can get a 5 on phych
ok?
I was mainly talking about the actual coursework and school exams, not the AP exam.
Cramming is not healthy at all and will almost never work.
some classes dont have finals, it's long term projects
i beg to differ
I have personal experience in this.
like sem and stats
What about unit exams.
Yeah, but I still have a bit of experience.
I took a few APs
Not college, high school.
Few as in 4?
3
its really not that many
in a yr?
For a freshman it’s a lot compared to others.
Yeah
I’m taking 4 next year (I sacrificed one class slot for Academic Decathlon)
Dont compare urself to others
I’m just saying. Most people I know are taking 0-1.
Anyways I have to go. Good luck with course selections and APs.
thanks you too!
This is my schedule by the way:
AP Precalculus
AP Physics 1
AP Chem
Spanish 3 Honors
English 2 Honors
Academic Decathlon (a honors class)
Anatomy & Physiology (on level but important for my major)
GT Humanities II (AP World History)
That’s actually really impressive tho.
Depends on your teacher mostly
I’m a rising 11th grader hoping to get into Comp Bio studying neuroscience/computer science in college please give me advice on my core course btw school only allows 5 majors but I’m taking 6.
AP Stats
AP Calculus BC
AP Biology
APUSH
AP Lang
Spanish 4
Should I take AP Bio as a sophomore? I want to go into a medical field later. However, I heard that AP Bio is usually taken by juniors. What do you guys recommend?
I believe I can handle it, but I'm a little unsure. This is the first time I will be taking an AP class. The classes I'm taking next year are:
- AP Modern World History
- Honors English 10
- Honors Chemistry
- Honors Spanish 2
- Honors Pre-calc
- P.E/Health 10
- Band
- Theology 10
I go to a private Catholic school so our courses are a bit different. In addition, we have four classes per semester, so I'm not actually taking these classes all at once. The AP classes are usually in the second semester.
can someone explain to me the differences between Computer Engineering and Computer Science? cus i see them both listed differently in uni courses
So you'll be doing WHAP (AP World) & AP Bio in the same semester.
I think it's doable, but it might be tough.
Yes, I will be doing both in the same semester!
Are they hard courses?
ap world is not that bad but bio is fs more difficult
Yes.
What grade do u recc each ap? I dont wanna take a rlly hard one during my sophomore and just completely fail it
@worldly flume @robust carbon Thank you guys for your advice!! I'll definitely keep that in mind!
i didnt help that much but yea ofcc 😭 lmk if u need any more help
Is AP computer science also a hard course?
i took ap comp sci principles and it was pretty easy
Ooh, okay! Thank you! What did you have to do in it?
i learned java script which is one of the languages in coding
but other than that it was pretty self explanatory topic 😭
like
why is the internet useful & stuff like that
I heard the teacher for AP computer science at my school is not that good of a teacher for it. I took a different course with her previously and she was not a good teacher and made it seem like she hated me, along with others. In addition, she was pretty racist so I'm not sure how I would do in her AP computer science class.
Oh! That does make sense lol!!
Thank you!
yea the teacher is very important so if shes not a good teacher i also wouldn’t take it, not to mention she’s pretty racist 😭🙏
ofcc anytime!
Thank you for your help!!! I really appreciate it!! 🫶
You from NJ?
I also go to a Catholic private hs
Nope, sorry! I'm also on the East Coast though 🙂
In my freshmen year I took:
English Language Arts 9
Algebra I
Biology
Physical education
Ancient history
Home economics
AP Human Geography
Sophomore year:
English Language Arts 10
Geometry
Physics
Modern history
Physical education/ health
Art Appreciation
Sociology
Junior year:
AP Lang
Algebra II
Chemistry
AP Art history
AP American History
AP Music Theory
Spanish III
Senior year:
AP Lit
Precalculus
Physics
Intermediate band
Humanities
AP psychology
AP Biology
as an 8th grader?
im about to be a 9th grader, but yes
the math is not mathing
i took AP Human Freshman year, AP World History, AP Art History, and AP Psychology Sophomore year, this year I took AP Lang AP Seminar AP Calc BC AP Spanish APUSH and AP Bio. I would recommend all of those except maybe AP Calc it depends on ur math track
You could do AP Pre calc instead
AP Precalc is useless
Get into Calculus it’s basically the same thing
Yeah but i dont know how ur going to do Calculus before doing Pre calc
If ur going to take pre calc anyways just do AP Pre calc
I mean AP Pre calc is basically calc.
The best option is do reg precalc and then do calc
since calc looks better on your transcript and AP precalc is basically calc on lite
check my schedule. Literally I got accepted into Cornell thanks to this
@sour light
work hard play harder 😎

does taking calc bc at help when ur applying for com sci/mathmatics? Or do I need to take ap stats
it will help i think
it’ll fs help
would calc bc be enough because if i want to take ap stats i gotta skip pre calc which i dont want to
i js finished intermediate algebra and im takng geometry next year and algebra 2 online
Skip AP Precalc?
yeah some of my friends just skipped Pre calc and went straight to ap calc ab
so i thought i would do that to get ap stats if that helps for com sci or math major
so im kinda wondering do i NEED ap stats for advantage
uh we ddint need to take precalc in order to take ap calc ab so idk
if u cab take both do it
if not j ap calc
U should skip precalc to calc ab
AP Precalc is doggy water
Sure
I mean you would move onto multivariable calc or linear algebra or differential
I'm skipping precalc and taking it over the summer
Then calc Ab and bc junior year
I'm gonna take AP Stat and either multivari calc, linear algerbra or differential as another dual enrollment math course
u sure? i mean skipping like
no pre calc in my life ever
btw whats a dual enrollment?
im new to US srry
You go to a college (community colleges I think) and take college level classes to receive college credit along with hs credit
Yes
I'm taking Precalc over the summer as opposed to in school
Same, I’m fairly new to here
has anyone who has taken AP CSA please give me tips on preparing for the course
what resources should i use?
Yoooo somebody recommend me what subjects to take in Clg , in BS ????
for anyone in law/prelaw, what ib subjects are the best?
You mean your major or like the specific courses?
The subjects broh
Like I know I wanna study Life Sciences
But what in it
I am not sure yet
🥲🫠
I will be applying for my PG in Medicines in US after this tho
So I am just curious wrt to that
HMS prolly
Are you Canadian?
🤔
Isn't med school even worse than undergrad for internationals 😭
I did, just wanted to confirm it
Naah I am OK with that
Ok with not getting in? 🤔
Then do you have a choice of courses at all?
Just do a bsc in bio somewhere 🤔
Stfu
Ofcourse
Man why you talking dumb lmao😭🫠
Last i checked electives didn't exist in India 😭
It's if you don't know something
😭
What's that?
💀💀💀💀
No my guy it's not when you have 0 clue and are lecturing me about that 😭
Bwahahaha
Nvm
What course choice do you think you have 🤔
Lmao
Bro
I am saying
I will be doing my UG in India
Yes
Ok so you're talking about majors
Wdym
Yeah if u wanna do med school then do a bachelor's in bio
I already told you I will be doing BSc life sciences
But the chances aren't exactly high to get in 🤔
Just I am confused with the subjects
Ok so are there branches 😭
Zoo? Micro? Genetics?
Yeah lol
Yep, not subjects 😭
Course choice doesn't exist in India, if you use wrong terminology obv I'm gonna be confused 💀💀
💀 aren't you supposed to choose them before?
What choices do you have overall 🤔
Wdym now 😭
Idk dunno a shit about Public Education institutes here tbh💀
Have you even gotten into a college? 😭
Life choose what am I gonna study specifically like Zoology branch or Microbiology or Genetics etc etc
Courses vary between them 💀💀
You can't choose before you even enroll 😭
Nope? 💀 😂🤡
Mhm
Ohh
What entrance exam did u give 🤔
It's a community Clg lol
I ain't going for some good Unis or clgs
Good? 🤔
On what tho 🤔
Mhm , I can become a Student Politics leader here also na , coz I am local
Does bro think he's gonna get into med school with finaid?
Good EC ig
💀😂
Keep guessing 😭
If you wanna get into med school as an international, you better do your research 😭
Wdym
Ik lol
That was a joke bish
Have some humor
💀
Yeah?
Nvm bro
You are sadistic af
I named you good
Goblin
Ok but seriously do you even know the m of med school 😭
XD
🤌🏻
Shut up
XD
Bro don't roast me wth
And there's a long way for that also
No there isn't 😭
Lemme decide my Clg subjects first lol
Dayum ok
You need to start today or you're cooked 😭
You've got one less year of your undergrad than most Americans too 😭
You've gotta be better than most Americans 😭
OK Brotha
Med school is just undergrad but with more of a med focus 😭
Fr 😭
Research, med college comps, academics
I know 🥲
💀 have to do this all by myself as far as I know
But ok
Wdym 😭
I will take help of Seniors or My Doc friends
That's good 😊
Clg is shitty 💀
At least that two braincells did something
Yep
😊
So
B.Sc in Zoo ig?
I mean Zoo as major
Or should I take some different thing?
I am just confirming
I have to apply for it soon
🤡🥲🥲
Sure, makes sense that you'd be a zoology person
No
how cooked would i be if i take AP bio with 0 bio interest or background knowledge
burnt
hello, I'm going to be a sophomore next year so I wanted advice on what to do
I did Algebra 1 Honros my freshman year (passed with a 96 (92 first sem and 99 second sem)
I've tested out of Geometry (on level) and got an 87
I'm preparing to test out Algebra 2 (on-level) (the test is on Jul 17) (preparing through Khan Academy and IXL)
If I pass the test I'm planning on taking AP Precalculus next year
How tough will that be?
I want to pass AP precalc with atleast a 90+
I think you should take ap precalc, I also had a 96-97 in alg2 honors and I’m taking ap precalc as a sophmore
but i took algebra 1 honros and idk abt my grade in alg 2 (on level) yet
Oh sorry I thought you were taking algebra 2 honors rn
ye
Uh probably just see how good you do on your alg 2 test, and if you don’t do so well probably take pre calc honors
Cuz I heard from my friends that ap pre calc is gonna be really hard
But I’m sure anyone can handle pre calc if they put time and effort into it
imagine not taking mvc as a sophomore
What's that?
multivariable calculus

how hard is taking a course in the summer? (gonna take alg 2 in summer as freshman)!! thank u
like is it manageable, do u have time to do other activities, have a life, etc lmao
it’s gonna be 4 wks
taking 2 summer classes rn + took one last year- its really easy to get distracted and burnt out in the summer due to the large work load so some discipline is needed to stay on track and complete work on time, but other than that, i didnt find it too bad. Best of luck in alg 2!
4 weeks for a math course is pretty intense, expect to not learn as much as what you’d learn in a regular classroom just because they’re condensing an 18 week course into a short time span
Since it’s only 4 weeks, as long as you work diligently and you have an aptitude for math, I’m sure you’ll do well!
2 is insane i wish u luck<3
true, do u think it’ll set me back next year and make math harder for me in the future?
that’s true; hard to get super burnt out in a month tbh. thank u sm for ur help!
The thing to consider is that if you don’t excel, it will drop your GPA, I suggest, if you want to pursue higher math like calculus, you take it during the year
JUST SO you retain the information and you’re not practically teaching it to yourself
I’m awful ar math, so I know I’d get my ass handed to me, but if you’re good and advanced with math, I’d say go ahead
There isn’t any shame taking it during the school year though!!
It’s important to consider that sometimes the most optimal route isn’t always the fastest route
not sure if i understand - like if i don’t excel in the course in the summer or if i don’t grasp the concepts to do well enough in the subsequent year?? and yeah this is the last class i’ll take in the summer it’s so that i can take multivar calculus in senior year
very true!!
Over the summer I mean, because it’s such a fast paced course, it depends on your comprehension of math!
If you’re fast and consistently gotten high grades on exams and in classes overall, I’d say go for it!
However, just because you’re taking it fast-tracked over summer, doesn’t mean it will not weigh on your GPA/Average Grade as much as taking the course the full semester
And it’s harder to back out of summer classes
Sorry I’m not good at explaining LOL
kk gotcha! thank you so much for the advice!! super comprehensive and it really helps me
wdym you helped me a lot i really appreciate it
Yeah ofc! I have always taken a bunch of summer courses (granted they were all easy classes 🤣🤣) so I kinda understand how they generally run
haha so you’re a seasoned pro lol are you taking any this summer??
Yess
grade 12 bio and grade 12 english 🫡
I’m taking a total of 3 college courses (two 6-week courses (half of summer), one 12-week course (full summer), and then a self-paced hs course bc I need to finish pe credits)
best of luck bro
Thank you!
damnn 😭😭 both super time consuming good luck!!
you must have insane discipline cus WHATT 😭😭😭
how do u take 3 courses that’s insane
if u had 0 u wouldn’t be able to take 3 college courses lmaoo
me rn
yepp- one 5 hour class is equivalent to one week of semester learning
I wait until last minute to do all my assignments but I picked all the easy teachers so I can bs girlboss my way to an a!!!!
its manageable
me- i chose to do bio over the summer because i hated my biology teacher at school and im not risking getting him again
LITERALLY
did school already end for you?! and nice that we are in the same boat! :-)
yep and i just finished a quiz for algebra 2 a couple hoursago
wait
yes!
im going this fall to learnart cummnition
can I anyone recommend me what AP to take next year? I am an upcoming junior in high school, targetting to major computer science/software engineering
ap computer science a (easy), ap calculus ab (easy), ap calculus bc (medium)
no
ranking it is not beneficial 😭
depends how many other aps they take and which i was thinking
ok
?
I took alg 2 as a freshman this year but it was 18 weeks and had like 1-2 hrs of homework ever night, but still had times for other activities and stuff
I would recommend but idk how i would survive if i was doing it in 4 weeks 😭
Like @main storm, I also took alg 2 as a freshman this year over the course of 18 weeks. I had a decent amount of homework each night, which took around 1-3 hours to complete. In addition, I still had time for other activities and time to complete my homework for my other classes, which were my hardest classes of the year. I struggled a bit in the class, but my weakest subject is math. Learning the entirety of the alg curriculum will be very intense and rigorous learned over the course of 4 weeks. As long as you work hard, put your mind to it, and try your best, I know you'll do amazing in it! I would overall recommend taking the course over the summer, especially since you'll be ahead next school year!
^^
I already took ap csa this year. I am thinking to take about 3-4APs
ahh i wish i had that option ! would def opt to even make it 8 weeks but its unfortunately only 4 haha but same math is comparatively my worst subject even tho i am still quite good so my counselor did recommend this pathway. i struggle with visualization but overall the actual algebra and word problems are pretty easy for me. i guess ill have to kinda drop everything for the 4 weeks because its super condensed. ill update u when it starts haha! thank u so much for such a full length answer! hoping itll be challenging yet rewarding
thank you so much!
Hi everyone! I'm a rising freshman this year, and I finished Algebra 1 (or Math 1) in my 8th grade year. I didn't know that you could double up in math, and I heard that Algebra 2 has no EOC (from my friends who were double accelerated). Because I didn't know, I only signed up to take Algebra 2 and not Algebra 3. I feel like now I'll be behind in my math and missed a good opportunity even before starting high school. Is there anyone here who had the same problem of missing a chance on taking a course, and if so, how would you say I'd go about it?
Thank you so much for reading, have a great day ^^
I'm sure you'll do OUTSTANDING in the class, especially if alg 1 and word problems were easy for you. Please keep in mind though that alg 2 does have some geometry aspects too!! I would love an update, thank you! It definitely will be worth it in the end, in my opinion. You got this!!! <33
Did you have to take geometry before alg 2? I believe geometry is usually before alg 2. At my school, sophomores usually take alg 2 but it may be different for you. However, I was ahead of some of my peers, so I took alg 2 as a freshman. I'm not the best person to answer your question as I've never missed a chance before on taking a course, but I would talk to your school counselor about it. Perhaps you could take an alg 2 course in the summer to make up for it!
I am going to be a sophomore next year and i am picking out a science. my intended major is engineering and i have completed biology and physical science. i am considering: AP Environmental Science, Chemistry, Physics, and AP Bio. I want to do APES, but we are getting a new teacher and I do not think the new teacher will be very good
In my opinion, 4 science in one year might not be great for your course selection. It might also not give an image of a well-rounded student. I would recommend you to take up to 3 max, and pushing one of them to junior year.
but don't trust my words too much thou
In my opinion, chemistry. I'm not sure where you live, but in the US, after you take biology, you usually take chemistry, which builds up to physics. Junior year in the US, usually you would take physics. I wouldn't do APES either if you don't think the new teacher is very good; I wouldn't risk it. During junior year, if you are able to, you could take AP physics, which would probably help with your intended major. However, I'm not an expert at this, so I would definitely get others' opinions on this too!
Hi guys ı was doing İGCSE this year and next year ı am going to choose my a level course. I need to select 5 courses. Can you help me to choose my 5. course? I choose physics, pure math, further math and turkish(ı am taking ielts for English language). Probably ı will study physics, math, or some kind of Engineering what you guys think that should ı choose for 5. course?
is ap lang acutally hard?
help
i literally have to decide in a few minutes whether to do honors or that
i want it to be worth it
but i was recc for honors
but this year i lost my motivation and got behind
but i want to work on tha
that
so that i can take this
Depends on your school
i hear the teachers are tough
Ask someone who took it with the teacher you'll be taking it with
im scared to
Then it's probably hard, as simple as that
If the teachers hold As like they're losing something by giving them out, even APES isn't worth it
