I didnt take a study hall this year and it was barely managable
oh
idk
i wish my councilers were useful
there going to tell me to stay in my CTE because they get thousands of dollars for me staying in it
buts its ridiculious
If I'm doing DE World History, should I register for the APWH exam next year?
holy shit bro
Personally i wouldn't
everyone taunting me with the world history mention š
Wdym
because from a college point of view it might looks lazy
Honestly APUSH was ez
if u can afford it
what is DE
Dual Enrollment
dual enrollment
Can't imagine how much harder APWH is
lmao real
probably ask your professor
he'd know probably
or she
im not sexist i swear
no they? cancelled
lol
I know about the Mongol Empire
if i drop my cte ill probably take a language class since i have no credits in foreign language
hold uppp
how about the iran war of independence
ur a junior and u have no foreign language?
Sunni and shia
uhhhh
yeah them
oh yeah
yeah
oof
is that really that bad though
One believes like Muhammad is god or smth
most colleges want at least 2
its not
Ottomans vs. Mughals
i mean its usually not required though
judgment for no foreign language is insane
Also British Hong Kong
its personal choice
I dont have one either but ive got time
Opium Wars
Most scholarships and stuff want one
should i retake the ACT if i got a 29
search up the ap world course thing
it should show u everything they teach
theres probably like a 200 page doc
depends on what kinda school ur aiming for
Btw landon, are you just some guy or do you know alot about college
ivies? yes, anything else? no
uhhhhhhhhhhhhh
everyone here is just "some guy"
dw ab it
theres no professionals
^^
everyone is a high school kid
fr
right
i need help with applying to scholorships
im lazy ig
ccp english or ap lit?
college credit plus
you take the class at a local university and get college credits
its more known and standardized
english is half semester
who knows what they teach in ur local uni
Part of the reason I want to take the APWH exam
exactly
shows colleges how smart you are for real
yes bro
Yes def
k
landon your a freshman?
possibly
Omg I'm also taking DE Precalc
I should register for the AP Precalc exam alongside the AP Calc BC exam!
Do u do track
I have someone i know in my track team whoās taking similar courses with u
+same name
Upcoming Freshman, was wondering if it was worth doing College Level Courses in my Freshman year, or if I should just stick with AP classes
Whatever gives me the best chance for small acceptance colleges
College level and AP are equal
Stick to AP
I've heard that you can get hours towards your associates with College, still AP or if that's what I'm going for is College still obsolete
Depends on ur college plans
If ur going out of state do AP
Also check ur school district policies
Do not all Colleges and Universities take the hours or straightup associates degrees from these college level courses?
Usually in state does
But out of state doesn't
Whereas AP is universal everywhere
Nah I don't really do sports in general
Ah ok
What courses you guys taking next year
wdym
will u be taking the calc test too
because thats after precalc
Who you declaring that question to
the obvious person thats above me
Hi
š¤š¤š¤
hi
Oh my bad I was asking a question Iām committed to a local college in my state/area called Fullerton college
oh cool i take dual enrollment courses there
What
šŖ¦
im asking you
If u can't think outside quotes that's š
Bro doesn't understand the meaning of the š¤ emoji
bro cant just tell me why
What
I've beaten tell me why
Twice, actually
.
Hmmm
french or spanish 9 (from canada and have taken french from grades 6-8)
english 9
This would be my sophomore year class schedule.
- Pre-Calc (2 trimesters)
- AP Stats. (3 trimesters)
- Honors Global History (2 trimesters)
- Honors English (2 trimesters)
- Honors Chemistry (3 trimesters)
- Spanish 2 (2 trimesters)
- Either CAD or Business (1 trimester)
Any suggestions? The math classes allow for more APs in the future. The honors classes put me in AP Lit/Lang, AP Chem, and APUSH.
They further enable me to get into APs, and help me pursue my goals.
Iāve only taken one AP and one honors class so far because those are the only ones offered. But Iām pretty sure I can handle the workload.
All of this in total would also get me up to a 4. 27, as Iām at a 4.2 currently. So further putting me ahead of my class mates.
should i chose economics or no
Hey is it fine to take ap phys c as my first physics class? Ill study physics 1 over the summer and alr took APs calc and chem
Make sure to study ap physics 1 and 2 if you want to do well
Not necessarily, but it will help and give you more background knowledge
Youāll be fine
My school only has ap phys c
About to be 9th grade in August with 8 classes to take, 1 class in summer school, and 1 class took in 7th grade.
Is that a question šæ .
french or spanish 9 (from canada and have taken french from grades 6-8)
no physics?
Thinking about taking chemistry spanish 2, pe, English 10, world history, art, and AP computer science principles as a sophomore
Any suggestions on if I should change something would help
Should I take Calc 1 without taking pre-calc?
Maybe
What your major?
Also I heard computer science principles is pretty useless
Do you have a good understanding of the things that are taught in pre-calc?
^, if you know algebra 2 and trig identities go ahead and skip
Oh oops sorry! My school told me that I needed a very good understanding of the things taught in pre-calc to skip calc when I asked.
I want to skip pre-calc but want to take calc 1
No
Yeah but Iām gonna need a couple refreshers
In my opinion, I would retake it. However, in the summer if you study a lot on algebra 2, trig, and stuff like that, you can probably take it when school starts again for you.
Alr
Is trig taught in alg 2. I remember doing some trig in geo
Also Iām taking a high school alg 2 course before I take calc 1
It varies on where you go to school. I did a few trig things in geometry too. Right now I'm in an algebra 2 course, but apparently it's honors for me? The honors class teaches me trig stuff too but not that much.
Alr, Iām pretty good at math so Iāll try to teach myself some trig over the summer
If itās too hard Iāll just take pre calc
Sounds great!!
Anyone mind giving me insight to determine if I should be EE or ME?
Oh i mean i donāt know how your school does it but. From my understanding precalc is algebra 2 and trigonometry. Are you in algebra 2?
Im trynna get into politics and stuff to help my town and maybe even my state out. Any suggestions for majors?
Does world history AP over the summer for a month sound do-able? Any advice?
im taking spanish 2 rn and my grade is NOT it, im porlly gonna do spanish 3 over sophmore year and call it quits but ik people saying i have to have 3 years in school (for ucs)
do u guys have any insight on that thxx
if you like it even if your grade is a lil worse
Why?
well u could say i strongly dislike spanish š
so im prob gonna take spanish 3 over sohmore year
Should I take physics?
In my opinion I say donāt take physics
hey I am aryan I am going to college can anyone help me with choosing the brach I am confused as to which branch to choose Electronics and Communication Engineering or computer science engineering or computer engineering pls tell
economic history
wait what
oh that was a week ago xD i thought did i just talk about this and get dementia
Yes, I'm currently in algebra 2! You're probably correct about pre-calc! My school is very different from other schools in my area and operates very differently.
You probably shouldnāt skip calc
oh ok
Hey I'm Vincent and I'm going into my senior year with my classes being as follows. I have a independent study in data science that should get approved and all the electives I was going to take just arent running š . The thing I'm asking about is what I should do for math next year. I took multivarible calculus this (junior) year and though I would take a local linear algebra class as dual enrollment, but my school changed are schedule so know I am in an odd situation
- I can drop AP research and take the CSU linear algebra class
- I can take an online linear algebra class and keep the schedule as is
- Do neither and just self study ap stats and call it a day
id drop ap research, its considered an easy class by itself but with your workload it could be a real pain as its providing extra weight š the csu linear algebra class looks better (at least to me) than the ap research imo
okay so im in a dilemma rn im taking like 5(?)6(?) ap classes next year not including ap calc bc which i want to take next year (all these ap classes bc my school only offers ap classes typically when you finish the entire subject through honors so as a senior ill be finished with practicality all my courses if that makes sense) my precalc teacher told me she highly recommends me to do ap stats as i told her i wanna major in polisci šš or if anything take ab with is the rational choice but im an idiot so my way of thinking is that i could either
a. take ap calc bc as a dual enrollment (another school is offering it as dual enrollment credit so if a fail its not gonna affect gpa or my credits) and take maybe ab or stats during the school year
b. take calc 1 during the summer and take ap calc bc (i was told under normal scenarios with me this would work but considering that im taking a bunch of other aps..)
c. take ap bc until college apps are done then take ab and report it to schools
the class thats really providing a huge problem with whatever i pick next year is ap bio but i have to take another science class and ive already taken all the non ap ones offered and id rather take bio than an ap physics or ap chem. š¤
Oh, I'm not going to skip calc!! Thank you though!!
Oh ok mb
yeah any number of creduts helps
yip yap
theres no need to take calc ab if u gonna take bc first
the decision is up to you
If you think you can't endure it then why not take ab during your summer so can decrease the workload before the school year begins?
also ap stats is a joke, read your prospective university's ap credit policy to see if it transfers
For example I read on Quora that AP Stats doesn't transfer to one of Purdue University's CS tracks
What are some classes that a sophomore should take?
Precalc, a stem ap, am elective ap?
is AP physics 2 worth taking just for the gpa boost
i want a 5.0 for my senior year just for fun
im majoring in CS if that is an issue
What is a stem ap?
Any AP in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics
These include, chemistry, physics 1, physics 2, physics c mechanics, physics c electricity and magnetism, biology, calculus ab, calculus bc, statistics, computer science principles, and computer science a
What do you want to major in?
If it benefits your major yes if it doesnāt then donāt. Itās senior year, go and have fun.
6 credit hours? If yes how many courses is that?
Computer science or biology
Are you trying to get college credits sophomore year?
Yes
So for you I would recommend AP Computer Science A and AP biology
And if you think you can handle a harder course load, I would recommend AP chemistry too
AP biology and AP chemistry will help towards a biology major and Computer Science A will help towards a computer science major
If you ever decide to major in computer science do not take AP computer science principles because that class will not help you
Wait actually save AP chemistry for junior year unless you have taken a high school course in chemistry
Same thing with biology
Whatās the main differences betweeen AP computer science principles and AP computer science A
Computer science principles is easier but it doesnāt really help computer science majors since it doesnāt show up on college graduation requirements
Btw have you taken biology or chemistry yet?
No chemistry will be next year. (Sophomore year)
Are you fine with three science classes? If so you should take AP biology
And AP computer science a but Iām not sure how difficult the class is without any computer science experience. Might have to ask someone else
I still have not taken a ap class yet. Iām taking ap human geography and ap seminar next year, also thinking of ap computer science but idk how difficult the class is
Does AP human geography or AP seminar benefit your major or gen eds?
I was told to do ap human geography because itās a class that will help my intro into APs
Seminar no
Thatās why I want to find a class that does help me
So it doesnāt benefit gen eds or major?
What is gen Eds?
General education (gen eds for short) are courses required for all students at a university to take no matter the major
Do you have a list of colleges you want to go to?
Do you know how to access graduation requirements for specific majors and their general education requirements?
No, thatās one of the reasons for joining this discord
Alright thatās fine
Go to google
And search up the university name and graduation requirements for what ever major your interested
Alright
And for gen eds just search university name and general education requirements
You might want to write down whatever you find important on you research for graduation requirements
And send me a DM for any more questions
Okay š
1...5? Courses for 6 college credits
What
It's a weird situation cause the course gets me 3 but there's an additional mini-course at the end of the year for another 3.
This class also gets replaced by internship at some point?
It's a weird situation.
I need your opinion on something
I got confirmed for ap lang like on Friday
So itās gonna be my first ap next year(junior year)
Idk if Iām going to do it though Iām just scared loll + my current English teacher said once Iām in the class I canāt drop out
have you asked anyone who took it with the teacher about the courseload
Not yet I am about to tho
Iāve been told
2 teachers for ap lang at my school
Theyāre both good at teaching the material
one good, one horrid?
ok good
- Really hard teacher 2. Strict grader thatās it
hard teacher?
Ig
Hard how
Idk if itās the pacing or material tho
Iām just nervous lol
Youll be fine
Of the pacing
dw
3 kids who are in honors english 2 said itās gonna be mad hard for me
Iām in accelerated english 2
don't listen to ops
The level under honors
Ik itās hard obv but I know how beneficial itās gonna be
Thereās skills that will help me with the sat and stuff
Does your schoool really not let u take APs or honors unless you're the cream of the crop š
Eh
you can defo do sat rw without ap lang
Can I list you the requirements
yes
also what's the average wgpa at ur school
First of all you canāt be in regular English you have to get to accelerated or honors first before having a chance thatās just self explanatory
A in english 2 accelerated or a B in english 2 honors
PSAT reading and writing score of 590-760 thereās cutoffs so if I got a 500+ or above Iām still good or sat 640-800
- teacher recommendation
Yeah but thereās skills that will help you more
In lang
not bad but kinda unnecessary š
How large of a school u in??
I think itās medium size
Bro same
Itās unnecessary
It makes me mad
it's not exactly hard to do, it's just like ...what?
The science supervisor rejected me of ap physics 1
So I have to do physics honors now
Like are you serious

Math
yes ofc
Iām good tho
I got approved
Even tho my psat score was shit
Idk, why tf do they care about psat scores
I was out of the English requirement
So my teacher mentioned my name in a email with a bunch of students who are in the same situation
And they all got approved and good but they are firm on once you get on no dropping out no matter if itās hard
Look
I get where theyāre coming from
But seriously bro
680 math or higher is one of the requirements for ap physics 1
Like why
If youāre gonna make a req like that
Make it 500 or above at least
Why do you need to be able to get an a to do a class
No thatās self explanatory
Canāt be struggling in english 2 accelerated with a C and wanting to do ap lang
You will probably do bad
I have an A+ in english rn tho
But anyways
Just nervous yk
First ap next year
I still have time by the end of the school year to decide between lang or english 3 honors
Thatās a good requirement
Okay I'm tryna figure out if im getting way over my head, im already planning to take 4 APs next year (Lang, Calc BC, Physics 2, and APUSH) and two intensive dual enrollment classes plus a free period, im considering switching out the free period for AP Psych, is this too much
Yes it is
I heard calc bc takes a lot of time
Outside of school
To keep up with the class
okay thank you!
Like
Iām not saying donāt do calc bc
But from my perspective
You donāt want a lot of ap classes
Because you already have hard classes that will take up your time
Lang and bc
And apush
Like physics 2 will be extra work
With all the others
Do you guys think it'll be too hard to self study AP chem??
For extra info I took ib chem sl this year
So idk if I want to self study and then take the exam orr
Yes
I think having a class to do ap chem is so beneficial so I wouldnāt recommend it but thatās just me
so this fall im going to go into grade 9 (freshman year of high school) and i wanna have a basic understanding of what type of classes i should enroll in. I dont have a lot of time on my hands after school and want classes that are somewhat interesting/fun but also have a good amount of merit? any help is appreciated, thank you
@here
choose useful classes that you're interested in (AP CSP, graphic production, etc)
choose some hard classes, but don't overdo it
also its gtk what restrictions ur hs has for classes, go talk to a hs student there abt that
ig my hs doesn't let me hv any electives this year but it might be diff for u
and make sure that ur filling all ur hs credits. check ur districts hs grad reqs and what classes woudl fulfill which reqs
ok thx alot
Do yaāll think taking 5 ap classes is too much? Cause Iām trying to take calc BC, Physics 2, APUSH, Lit, and Bio
ok so im tryna be a surgeon when im onlde
r
what courses should i take in grade 10-12
is this a good schedule for next year?
What is algebra 3/4?
AP biology, AP chemistry, AP anatomy and physiology (if college board releases it)
Guys I wonder what subjects to choose to study after 10th grade. I wonder between Math & IT and Geography and History
I believe algebra 3 is trigonometry and algebra 4 is precalc.
alg 4 for us is general statistics, or for me, honors stats
we then take pre-calc after that, then calculus
Ohh, it's different at my school then. For us, it's precalc, calculus, then statistics. My apologies!!
yeah, we have pre-calc, calc ab or bc, and even adv calc 2 or 3
Ohh, I see!! My school is also way different from other schools and is pretty small so we don't have a lot of math classes.
our school has about 2-3k students attending, so we a lot of students taking advanced math
Wow, that's a lot!! Our school has less than 270 students
I think we have calc ab and bc too though now that I think about it.
hi
i need some help convincing my parents to do chem over the summer
iām doing geometry over the summer
already
and they think itās too much since i have a internship im doing on friday
.
Hi guys, I'm an incoming freshman doing geometry honors and pe 1 a and b and pe 2 a and b over summer. My tris a English honors 2 tris. Bio and chem 4tris. Spanish 3 2 tris. Architecture 2tris. Algebra 2 honors 2 tris. Engineering 2 tris.
I might try to self study for spanish three over the summer too, but I don't have any Quizlets and stuff. Does anyone have tips on what I should be doing
whats a tris
Do u mean doing spanish III over the summer?
Just a suggestion, but I wouldn't do chemistry online if that's what you are saying. Chemistry, along with other sciences, are very hands on learning and you would need to be in an actual lab to learn things in my opinion. For what it's worth, my biology teacher told us that it's also quite difficult to learn/teach online sciences. If you are doing summer school though and are taking chemistry in that summer school, I would go for it.
No, actually there is a very cool thing which lets native speakers advance faster onto the Spanish pathway, so my idea was that is I study enough for Spanish three, especially since Ive already done Spanish 1 and 2, I could take such test, hopefully pass it, and take Spanish 4 which is actually weighted for us.
bud u dont have to rush
take ur time
u dont need spanish 4&5 for ap spanish if thats what u trynna do
Sorry, for us it's very different. It's Spanish 1, 2, 3, 4 honors (which gets you the seal of bileteracy) and also AP Spanish though most just take the AP test instead of also taking the class.
I'd love some more suggestions
Thx for all the help
itās required to do all 4?
Colleges prefer 3, but at that point you should take the gpa boost of Spanish 4, and then you basically are also totally prepared for the AP Spanish test
thats a bad idea
spanish 3 is more than enough for spanish test
take ap spanish instead
if ur gonna take a spanish course like spanish 4 u might as well take ap spanish which give u a bigger gpa boost
Lots of kids say that the AP test should be light with that yeah.
so dont take spanish 4 take ap spanish then take ap test
What's a tris?
Although for us to take ap Spanish u do need spanish 4. And Spanish 4 is kinda a light ap
thats not the norm whatsoever
slanish 4 is not an ap lil bro
spanish*
then wait till u take ap spanish to take the ap test
idk bout ur school college grade them the same
Not worth. From lots of other students telling me AP Spanish is def not needed to take the test
ur gpa dont increase based of course level only increases if its ap
Is spanish 4 honors š¤
Yes
So it's still weighted but not as much as an ap yeah
Gtg I'll reply later. Nice convo
i mean go ahead i wish u the best but its a language course and requires a lot of practice
Also please use ping
I am a tad concerned about my high school classes as 8th grade winds down
bro highschool is light ur fine
What math ru on
Why are you concerned?
holy shit how long is bros message š
Here are my classes, but keep in mind, I am going to a Catholic high school whose classes are a little different. By the end of the year, I should have
Algebra 2 Honors
English 9 Honors
Spanish 2 Honors
Physics Honors
AP Computer Science Principles
Intro to Engineering
Health
PE
And 2 religion classses.
Granted, by the time I start high school, I would have Intro to Engineering and Health down.
Not tryna dismiss u. I have a friend who did your kinda pathway with all that Spanish 5 and all that. Our school prepares us a lot better for Spanish especially since of the amount of native speakers here.
That's good
Other feedback would be great
You shouldn't really be worried
Oh, I go to a small Catholic high school too!! Those classes look great!! I think you'll do amazing in them!
I'm a freshman right now and I took/am taking similar classes to what you're going to take next year.
However, do you need a history credit next year?
I'm not the most knowledgeable but maybe if they offer it try something like bio or chem or something in that sort of field. That's what I'm doing right now to see what I want to do later in life. But if you're set on that, all good.
My school is physics first ok
I need to do history credit next year too.
I see. All good šš
Okay, will a history class fit into your schedule?
I'm taking it over the summer cause it's a ton of reading
I recommend taking one this year so you won't fall behind and have to double up in the next few years.
Alright, that sounds good!
I think we only have to do three years and I'm taking all of them over three summers
Okay, that makes sense!! At my school we have to do it all four years and we aren't allowed to take any classes in the summer.
I mean we can, but it just won't do anything for us at school and we would have to still take the course in school.
Rip š
What š
I see. We're only allowed 40 credits or around 4 classes during summer
Can you do DE in the summer? Have you asked your counselor š¤
Or like does DE and stuff simply not count towards ur hs transcript šš
What's da
*de
Dual enrollment, you do college classes at a community college at the same time as hs
Yeah š
You're lucky!! I wish I could do that and it would count towards my education at school.
Yeah that's a thing but since we're only allowed 40 credits we'd rather do it over the summer to lighten up the load. Also I'd rather focus on extra curriculars
Makes sense yeah
I'm sorry. I would say contact your counselor if your interested in summer classes and see if there is a path or way.
Are you volunteering volunteering or spending your time in non competition clubs btw
Our school counselor just got fired š
š
Yeah I'm volunteering for some robotics teams.
Nah that's crazy š¤£
They told us we won't have one until next school year if we are lucky š
The best ECs are something you start on your own initiative like a passion project, and/ or something that shows your competence and passion through quantifiable impact and the prestige of competitions/awards
Any of y'all know how to start a national science bowl club
thats alr a thing
Unless you really enjoy volunteering for the robotics teams and only that, you could redirect that effort š¤
u cant just make smth liek that
That's the club I'm tryna start. It's basically like the science Olympiad
Bro's dumb or smth?
My school does t have a club for it so I could start it
Are you trying to make a team for the NSB for your school?
Yes makes sense
Yes please if you have any help on how to do that
See, competition clubs and making clubs, that's impactful
Ohh, I would go for it then! It shows leadership and if it's your passion, then that's good too!
What kinda uni do u wanna go to btw
Thanks š I'm pretty stoked if that would happen
You just need to register it in your local qualifying competition
I'm sure it will!! You got this!
And you need to get the members and register it at your school first ofc
Bro if there's any way for u to help me start a club at my school for it that would be clutch
As you would with any club
wait thats all u gotta do to make a national club
Registration for the 2025 regional competitions will open Monday, October 7, 2024, at 12:00 noon Eastern time.
I see, if you don't mind using ping reply that would be great to kinda keep track of stuff. Sorry for being petty
For now, all you can do is make a club and start preparing
(#course-selection message)
@solemn hamlet
It's not a national club though, what š
It's your school's club for the nsb š
And yeah, to make it an official team you just need to sign up as a team for your regional competition
he said he wants to start a national science bowl club
Oh, guys I have a quick question!! Do things such as being a Student Ambassador and Council of Academic Integrity member count as an extracurricular?
I can understand taking things that are phrased incorrectly literally, but that's literally phrased well
Like student council?
It's pretty common atp
And it's useless and menial work š¤
No, it's different from the student council!
whats that supposed to mean
Oh, so being on the student council is a common extracurricular?
yeah
@old crag
Next year
AP Seminar
AP US History
AP Computer Science Principles
AP Computer Science A
im taking apush and seminar
WWWW
The Council of Academic Integrity at my school basically is similar to a court/judge thing. If someone cheats or violates our honour code in any way, they have to go before our council. The Council discusses amongst themselves the punishment of the student who broke the honour code.
then I think you're set tbh unless you want to take ap comp sci
y u taking csp and csa the same time
they ain't lil bro š
but what for junior and senior year i was thinking about Ap Bio, Ap Anatomy, and Ap Chem
are there any others i should consider
oh yeah, you're gonna need those for bio
not sure about anatomy since it covers human anatomy mostly
but definitely ap bio and ap chem
what have you done so far
like forget aps
just what course did you take this year
honors alg 1 (im a freshman)
yea
in my shool we need to take geomatry 1 b4 precalc
should i ask my guidence counseler about self study?
bc i could take alg 2 and geo 1 at the same time
oh you def can, i did and i got a 98 in geo and 95 in alg 2
geo is so easy, i never studied except for like one unit
geo repeats what you've already learned and adds a few new formulas but overall it's intuitive and easy
what about Ap Psych is that important?
nah, you're going to major in bio so no not really
unless you want to take it for funsies
personally i loved the class
I heard its kinda easy in my school
but tysm you were a massive help in getting what i needed straight :DD
ofc!! i bullshitted my way through high school and had to learn the hard way about everything sekjbfhjbdfj ik how confusing it is
but one last thing for ecs Im on varsity tennis and I do a lot of orchestra stuff and is the founder of a club what else should i go for?
student council?
Oh! Is AP psych and intro to psych the same class or is it different?
why principles
and A
š
huh
probs different
lil bro you dont know context š
š
using lil bro gotta be the most overused thing
Okay, thank you!
Thank you!!
lmao idc but aight
š ok buddy
ofc!
I want to take another AP class next year, but the only other AP class offered to incoming sophomores at my school (besides AP World History, which I will be taking) is AP computer science. I want to take it but I don't like the teacher who teaches it. What should I do?
take dual enrollment
trust
dual the loml
My school doesn't let us do that until junior year!
fair, it needs early release and shi
I will definitely do that though when I'm a junior.
screw ur school š„
What's early release?
Fr I don't like it š
type shit
lawd, if you want to take it but think it might tank your gpa then i wouldn't risk it
like you can go home early
our dual cred class times are different and only juniors and seniors are allowed early release
ok
AP computer science?
Ohh, makes sense!!
mhm
I want to take it to boost my GPA
š
It's the only other AP class offered to sophomores
aight u do u šŖ
But I'm not sure
The teacher who teaches it doesn't really like me I don't think and I don't like her
i wouldn't take it
don't risk the gpa tank
What should I take instead?
idk ur course offerings
what all is offered
and what are your interests/plans for college
I want to go into a medical field position.
That was my old school counselor who just got fired
lol
psych, or like actual medicine with like diagnosing flu and shit
ykwim
I want to take that too but the thing is, the teacher who teaches that is also teaching AP computer science so idk š
That was going to be option #2
š
We don't have any medicine classes besides forensics science and anatomy, which I can't take until junior year
psych was super fun for me but this is your schedule ofc
It seems super fun!!! I love learning how the brain works and all that
But y'know it's the teacher that ruins it for me
I had her for this freshman seminar class that was mandatory and so useless
And she was not good at teaching, took a useless class so seriously, and was a little racist towards me
The reason why she hates me is because she hates my friend
Well, I think she hates me at least
0_0...
then i wouldn't risk it
if she doesn't like you, she'll grade harder
That's what I'm thinking
What do you recommend I take instead?
I'll be doing band next year, which satisfies my fine arts credit for next year.
I'd take econ/personal finance
it's good to learn it and it will def help you a lot in life
Ooh, okay!! I heard the teacher for that is really good!
Yes, I heard that too!! Thank you for your help and advice!
also bc taxes will be so real in a few years
ofc! good luck <3
Frfr š
Thank you!!
Guys should I study Math & IT or History & Geography. I like all of those subjects so I have to decide, but I don't know which ones to pick.
Which field are you going into or what are your plans for college?
If you're going into a field that involves a lot of math or computer science, I would say study math and IT stuff. However, if you're going into a field that revolves around history or geography, then I would say study history and geography.
choose the subject(s) you like more
Never pick all at once
Guys should I take 6 AP's JR year
Unless you're taking the 6 easiest or hardest APs available, yeah
Im taking AP Physics : Mech, AP LANG, AP US History, AP Calc AB, AP Comp Si, AP Macro
Is that good
If u can handle it yeah
Oh, cause I barely took any this year: 2 š„¶
And which were those 2?
How did u do on those
AP EUro, and Micro
Really well in class
For Micro, I did like 8 practice tests and got 5's on all of them, but I could have sold a 5
Im not sure tho
AP exam scores don't matter
Have you asked anyone who took the APs you're gonna take with the same teacher and ones you've taken to compare difficulties and ensure any of them don't have crazy course loads (some teachers do that)
Like most of the teachers are good, except 1 of the Calc teachers, but the APUSH teachers are really intense
Like other than that the teachers are good
Well, sounds good then, what ru worried about
The amount of time im gonna have
to do other ecs and stuff
and SAT, im trying to get a 1550+
thx, Im gonnna try to grind it
Rn im at like mid-high 1400's
as per practice tests
š
Noone cares about a 1600
Tis a waste of the time š
A 1600 vs a 1580 or 1550 or 1540 is not much better, time would be better spent on ECs
yea, but I hate when I make a dumb mistake on MOD 1 and it dropps my score so much
Dang.
My wisdom juice ran out.
Eh i mean fair š¤
1600 hits different
Yea
hey there everyone i recently joined this server
and the amount of merit scholorships that you can get is crazy
Yo
hey
šÆ
Merit scholarships are still stuck in 2006
Which is a better course a Major in Comouter Science or a Major in Data Science or AI & ML?
Which is better AP Bio or AP Chemistry. I want to go to med school
Depends on your interest
Probably Bio, although you would want to do both.
AP Bio
both
Don't you need both?
Oh wait
It probably works differently in America
u dont "need" it
I meant as perquisites?
look at the course units. And look at what you want to major in. I've taken neitehr of the courses so I can't give you good advice. But both seem pretty helpful
Also, for the STEM kids... would taking AP Physics C (Mechanics and Electrism), AP Calc BC, AP CSA, and AP Lit in my senior year be a bad idea?
people are saying that I should just kill myself because I'll want to next year
also whats the difference between AP Physics C mechanics and AP Physics 1?
Ap physics C uses calculus and Ap phys 1 uses algebra Iām pretty sure
But u donāt need to do ap phys 1 bf ap phys C
Yes
im thinking about testing out of japanese and hindi (both self study) with a credit-by-exam, but it will hurt my weighted gpa cuz theyre both non-weighted credits.
should i still test out of them?
3.8 unweighted is not āabsolutely horribleā at all
well depends on if it's out of 4 or 100 š§āāļø
e.g. the national curriculum here does unweighted (weighted isn't available) out of 5
Yea ig but im kinda scared that it might go to a 3.7 this year so doing anything that would give me a boost would help me out a lot
What kinda uni do u wanna go to š¤
UCLA or Berkeley, Harvard is always the dream
bruh its diff schools and colleges know that
So if u have a 5 uw then they scale it
i knoww xD
canāt speak for the other classes but csa is a fairly straightforward class and something i didnāt find very hard, runestone has an excellent curriculum if you need extra assistance also
Is it free?
yeah
teaches you basically everything with multiple choice, coding and frq practice
I am trying to do Dual enrollment math in 12th grade. I started as a freshman in algebra one I am going into my sophomore year to geometry over the summer and doing algebra two in the school year then next year Iāll have ap pre-calc but in my senior year iāll have AP calculus AB or BC, how do I get to my senior year with duel enrollment
tbh 3.7 isnt even bad but its just inflation all around
the apps
everywhere
But isnāt the avg for admits a 3.9 for t20 schools, 3.7 is super far from that
yea ik
im not sure about it
ask @solemn hamlet
he probably knows
I am a freshman taking AP physics next year but some people are telling me to also take chemistry as some colleges require it
Is it a must do we need to take it?
counselor allowed me to retake french 2 (i failed the class), but i would have to replace ap stats. should i still take ap stats or take french 2 next year and french 3 senior year (i want to major in engineering)
You need the language credits [for colleges], so yea, probably.
french
oui
alrlight ill email my counselor
tres bien
i still know some stuff after not taking french for a year
you skipped french in 9th?
10th

i failed french 2 9th, had a shitty counselor that recommended an elective instead of retaking it
and once i realized i needed language credits i now have to retake it as a junior
Oof.
i have a 2.9 weighted rn so it will raise my gpa to repeat a failed class rather than taking ap stats
As a fellow person trying to get into Eng, I wish you luck
im talking the hardest math and science classes possible as well as dual enrollment for my junior and senior years
i need to increase my course rigor
Same⦠
i think ap calc ab, ap chem, ap physics c, apush, dual enrollment english, and either pltw or ap comp sci will be good enough
in the course of two years
goal is 3.8 weighted
Can you tell me if I can do an English literature major if I chose MPC in my high school
Is algebra 2 as a junior normal
If I want to become doctor what should I major in
Does anyone have recommendations on full time dual enrollment? Iām considering it but am on the edge. Deciding between full time, part time, or like 3/4
Yes
Not in this server
^
Isn't it usually year 10?
Biology šÆ
i did
Class of 2026? š„ You apply early? š¤
That doesn't mean much
so i got into colombia
ok
Ok, let's say you did get into Columbia. How many supplemental essays does mit have?
its a lot
national awards
non profit
essay carried
dude i have mid stats
ill send soon
im in school
how is national awards mid?
mid for ivy applications
send to me too pwease

what's up brotherr š¤āļø
wrong response š
not true in my opinion
I am trying to do Dual enrollment math in 12th grade. I started as a freshman in algebra one I am going into my sophomore year to geometry over the summer and doing algebra two in the school year then next year Iāll have ap pre-calc but in my senior year iāll have AP calculus AB or BC, how do I get to my senior year with duel enrollment
ok i dont kno how to respond to that
thats the reality most who apply have natjonal awards or smth equivalent
Define national awards
ask him to define itš«¤
national awards are def good but for a good chance at getting into an ivy u need the best national awards like isef fbla deca smth like that
cant be some random competition
ok
good job
I am trying to do Dual enrollment math in 12th grade. Not u making sure š
bro i did not get why yall getting so pressed š
You didn't get in?
I am trying to do Dual enrollment math in 12th grade. Ask yur counselor
š¤”š¤”
are 7 aps in senior year too much?
like i donāt care much about like two of the ap tests but i want the gpa boost that it gives
my school doesn't even allow us to take like more than 4 š
Bro why would you take APs that donāt benefit you š
buddy u have 3 years left
stop worrying abt senior year š
lol
Are you a junior rn?
Aināt no way š
hi people! i kinda have an issue, im in 10th grade rn and have to choose the subjects ill take next year but whatever i take will affect what ill be able to study in university. im interested in studying psychology but not 100% sure, i want to take all science subjects just incase i couldnt get into psychology but i personally dont think i can handle it. whenever i ask someone for help on choosing the subjects they tell me it depends on the requirements of the university but i dont know which one im going into yet since im only in 10th. what should i do?
College board college search will help you find colleges
Btw are you aiming for Ivy Leagues or regular universities?
whats that ?
just regular
Google it
So I would recommend taking AP psychology and do job shadowing for any careers your interested in
my school doesnt have psychology anymore unfortunately
You could self study an AP exam but it is a lot of work. Do you have a lot of time on your hands?
But in my opinion I would focus on extracurriculars
if its self study i could make time
like what ?
Mr. Sinn videos will be a life saver for you š
Job shadowing or internships in psychology
ill check him out thankss
i see
what about school subjects for now
Well what science classes have took so far?
You said your into science? What kind of science?
i take all of them now but next year i can choose which to take, except for physics since its mandatory in my school
biology mostly
find out which career you most interested in. You said you werenāt 100% sure about psychology so how sure about psychology are you?
And how sure are you about biology?
likee 80%
70% ?
i like biology but it can get annoying
Yeah so look into job shadowing for both fields
Do you have any connections to biologists or psychologist
Or any related field
you mean people ?
yeah
Job shadow them
i asked the sister of girl studying psychology(since i cant get to her directly), shes one of the top students across all universities in my country
Uhh idk if you can shadow students but do you have connections to psychologists or therapists?
she says if you get high grades companies n hospitals will reach out to me
unfortunately not
Then start calling local clinics for job shadowing opportunities
Or start cold-emailing professors and ask if you can participate in research
You probably can get a student to vouch for you
i see
Do you need a cold email template?
and then i submit my participation proof when i apply to colleges right?
that would be great
Here letās move to DMs it will be easier
alrightt
Hi, Would you guys recommend a DE or AP CSA?
ap
Thereās pros and cons for each
Are you planning to go out of state?
Nope
Is your schedule flexible?
Im having 5 classes in school with ONE decision period then senior priv
DE is usually one semester and AP is usually two semesters
In some states DE costs money btw
Not for me, its fre
Also I would check if the AP course or DE course transfers to your desired college
Your DE will probably transfer to most colleges in your state but I would double check just in case
How can u reply to that with a straight face šš
shut
sure
I mean it might not be good for their major ĀÆ_(ć)_/ĀÆ
No that's not it š
I was clearly joking when I asked for MiT when it was about Columbia š
the āclearlyā is crazy
hey guys what do you think is the best pre med major for someone who wants to become an anesthesiologist
Where can I learn to code?
what language u wanna learn
emory id best i think
i dont know a lot about med but thats one of the best for med in general
wat is dat lol
the college
ā ļø
or washington uni
minnesota, oregon
top 3 i thjnk
and theres always harvard so yeah
Just take courses that a required for med school
Some people I know major in biology, microbiology, and biochemistry
yh fs but im looking for something that is relatively easy to acheive a decent gpa in
But you can have any major as long as you take courses required for med school
yeah what abt mcat tho
I guy I know is majoring in biochemistry and heās gonna take the mcat
And another majoring in micro biology
The guy I know said biochemistry is more like chemistry than biology
So beware of that if you donāt like chemistry
What are the easiest AP Exams to self study?
cuz I feel like class is very beneficial to the understanding of concepts
so
AP comp sci principles is super easy in general
Should I do ap bio and acc physics at the same time
prob not, unless if u have rly good time management
true, but I am unlikely to go into that field
I might take it as a GPA boost though
Sure, comp sci will definitely help you in todays world no matter what you do career wise
My high schoolās honors freshman english teacher is really strict, and I will have her next year, and my brother said that 95% of the class passes with a C, while the normal english teacher gives out Aās. Do you think I should try honors english? My dream college is Yale
Current course selections: AP Calc AB, DE ISR, AP Lang (i want to take but i still have to talk to my counselor if i can take it instead of honors), civil eng + arch PLTW, discrete math semester, APUSH, and DE latin .... am i going to die my junior year?
sophmore year i kinda fell of my straight a student role and i still have a's but my gpa went from 4.29 to a 4.01 because i had b's for some quarters š
only like one or two
Look at the outstanding students who took honors English: did they do well? If they did, that means itās most likely a student issue.
My brother said the highest achieving student got an 83(B)
Damn
I think the teacher just sucks then
So I donāt think itās the student issue
So do u think itās worth going for hon eng?
I personally think if not taking honors English will prevent you from taking more advanced classes later on, then you should still take it
hmm ok
Iāll consider it since iām not sure if iām taking ap lang/lit
Ap gov
This years exam was super easy and I didnāt even take the class
Huh! Interesting, I thought that class was hardcore no?
