I mean i can only read arabic, not understand it
Are u in geom?
rlly?? I can keep a small convo
i can only read cuz i can read the quran
loll ya makes sernse
What’s the difference between HL classes and SL classes?? 🤔
Hi! Currently I am a freshman and I take French 3 as my language course. Last year I took French I in the middle school (and was accelerated past level 2 to level 3 upon entering high school). After French 3, I am on track to take French 4 and then AP French. I was concerned because I am noticing that most colleges prefer 4 years of language in high school, but because I was accelerated, I am only able to take a maximum of 3 at the high school. To compensate, is it a good idea to take ASL or some other language course?
They didn’t give you a high school credit for French 2?
I didn't really get official credits, just skipped French 2 and went straight to French 3
Probably because everyone including the people who don’t care about school are required to take it
You could probably put that in additional info.
will that put me in a disadvantage in apps for good colleges?
I’m having the same problem
But if your school has French 5 take that which in this case I don’t your school has
I’m not an expert so sorry
Bro the mods can see deleted messages be careful
🔥
No, pretty much all colleges are alright with 3 😭
Plus if you're taking it until ap French that's gonna be fine
AOs probably won't even notice you skipped French 2
- AP Physics 1
- AP Calc AB
- AP Calc BC
- APES
- AP Lang
- AP Comp Sci A
- American History Honors
- Entrepreneurship
Am i cooked?
Why would you take AP calc AB and BC?
My university says 4
Fr
Everyone takes ab and bc
Well at least at my school
Cuz it’s sem based
Do you guys think this is a good enough and rigorous schedule for sophmore year? pls @ me if u reply i dont check discord often D:
Yes it is
bro your lucky in your highschool you get to pick ap courses in grade 10, in mine we have to take it only from grade 11
At the same time?
Semester
WTH is AP cyber??
you will study the structure and the design of the internet
Same
there is no AP CYBER 🔥
thank you einstein 🙏
np
AP cyber security 💀
real
Yes
I don’t think that’s even a real AP
It’s a new course they r adding next yr
New ap next yr
UGHHH MY SCHOOL DISTRICT SUCKS IM IN TEXAS 😭😭
same
it’s not even that bad
Yo before i accept this college application, should i stay at community college and finish pre reqs for CS major? for context im a dual enrollment senior in HS and im graduating with my AA DTA in the summer but i decided to go for CS instead of biology 2 months ago. I need calc 1 & 2 and two programing intro classes
this might be the wrong section to ask this my bad
I am planning to apply to UC colleges, and noticed that there was a fine arts req. I emailed the admissions people and they said that you could take ap music theory instead to fufill the req. I have alr been playing piano for quite a few years so I don't think it will be impossible (even though I dont have too much formal music theory practice). What this work and be a good idea? (i dont realy have space in my schedule for fine arts stuff atm)
It’s not hard but the basis of all of more advanced math is from it
So you gotta know it cold
it’s a lot of work
If you can read sheet music then it’s much better
but don’t fool yourself because it’s a lottt
It's super important
Do precalc over next summer, spend an year on alg 2
What is better take a dual enrollment course of Biology over the summer at my near Community college or AP Bio? ( I am a junior in high school)
what ever u want
When I took Algebra Ii, it was not that difficult but I found it super important for courses to comr like pre calculus and calculus
ok
If you plan on taking the college lecture and lab then make sure you are 100% ready for it. The AP course might be better if you feel you are not ready and need something with less commitment. If you feel ready though the college would be the better option.
Thank you!
Im wondering what Ap chem is like and what classes go into it (like reg chem)
guys how over is it if on my senior year I'll take 4 APs, 3 dual enrollment classes and INSPIRES?
You might be cooked man
Do you think these are good courses (also for sophomore year)? Orchestra - AS English - World History - Algebra II/Trig - AS Chemistry - PE II - Study Skills
Also spanish and possibly physics dual enrollment
id have taken ap world but im not really a history person…
AP
wait so why are u taking it again
and what is AS
oh im not, just taking regular
it’s like advanced standing, where it gives you the gpa bump and is more rigorous but you dont get ap credits for it
idk they likely dont have it everywhere
oh i misred
yeah it looks fine; i mean like i can’t really tell you if your selection looks good because i don’t know what’s your major, i don’t know like how good you are at certain subject and more
oh wait no im a high schooler lol
yeah but like what do you want to do
when should i do algebra 2 by
um, astrophysics but they dont offer astronomy or ap physics until junior year, and its highly reccomended to take chemistry so
whenever u can
oh i also wanted to do that
whenever you get there, but ideally in the first three years
that’s cool!
yea!
same problem with my school
first three years of what? Highschool?
yea
ig u just take physics when you can
alr,
im an int student, do u know if int students should take aps or not?
yeah i was thinking of either taking it junior year or dual enrollment
are you going to college here
ap isnt really useful outside of us but if youre going to college here then yea
in the states
💀
yes in the us is my ultimate goal
then yeah, but its a lot of rigor so be careful
i mean like lowkey i wouldn’t u need a lot of stuff but u do u ig
alr, then thanks
ima do max aps bro idc, i need to get into harvard. 💀💀
gl ig
yeah i think extracurriculars matter too
this server makes me lose a braincell everyday
yeah like in the US u need ecs, essays, and more
he’s not from the states
he first know the admissions
doesnt*
bro i can juggle max aps + ecs lemme cook
it’s… really difficult…
sure
idk man im only a grade above you but be careful
real real
what aps are u takiing?
theres no point in taking max aps
Dawg no shot ur doing like ap art or some other random ap. (no offense if you like art)
mental health is in the matrix 💀💀💀😭😭
my school did this equalization thing where you cant take honors courses freshman year…
ggs bois, lemme clutch
no
damn
nah but fr, im in my studyinghellaarc
k
heh
lowkey aps aren’t even that good when u get accepted cuz they skip like the very intro courses
u should just go ahead in the course work then? U will be ahead?
and like u prob need the intro for the later stuff
what do you mean?
just utilise holidays and breaks to study fundamentals?
yeah bro like not everyone had that much time
bro what
yea
like for example u cant take calc ab till yr 10 or smt, study ahead?
GO LIVE
lol
i did robotics where i was at school from 8:30 to 7pm i dont have time
thats what every smart person does
no?
utilise time outside of school
i understand
some don’t
"smart person" doesnt mean u study 24/7
yeah but im only in geometry so i couldnt do it anyways
i feel u, i have a balanced life, but cramming in studdy time whenever u can helps alot
no it isnt, its measureable with certain tests, and its how u define smart, in this case im talking academically
yeah, i play sports, do music, have a social life, all while being number 1 in my yr in academics
cool
Youre in like 8th grade
wow man
oh wait no shot
well generally speaking its about academic?
he is?
you want a medal or a cookie or both
idk profile says class of ‘28
class of 28 is a freshman..
yeah, where im from, there is valedictorian every year, its called dux
no
soon
yea
wait ofc u have free time ur in 8th grade 😭
nevermind this changes everything
no im freshman class of ‘27?
wdym bro, i still do hella work tho, dont discredit the grind. 😭😭😭
good luck!
thanks
i’ve looked back and reviewed unit 1-4
but like we aren’t even done with the course yet 😭
tf 💀
we still got a whole unit after this one
and idk when this is gonna end
i think the actual course can be different from the ap test so
what is it like decolonization or smth
nvm ur in world
bro we are in ww2 rn
and we still gotta talk about the cold war and more
i hate like writing dbqs but like the course is actually kinda interesting
and for that reason i might take euro
also, im interested in finance and learning more about it for my ecs and sh, do u guys recommend any courses or some resources?
i took principles of business that gave some sort of introduction the business careers
or any finance courses
If you’re interested in finance I would recommend Investopedia (maybe?)
For me I’m doing principles of business marketing and finance and we’re currently just trading stocks and learning about the market 🤷♀️
@solemn hamlet
Here's what I've got cooking for next year
AP calc BC
AP Physics 1 (but I'm taking the mechanics test and I'm self studying EnM)
AP US History 1
Honors English 2
PE
Choir
Spanish 2
Calc BC in sophomore is 😭
Wdym APUSH 1 🤔
New Jersey makes you take 2 years of US history
💀
Which means I cover the first half sophomore the second half Junior
I should ask my guidance counselor, not a bad idea
I'm skipping pre-calc this summer
Hence why I'm doing calc next year
Ohhh
Algebra 2 is free, English is free, can't speak on the aps or chemistry though
By the way my school doesn't let freshman take APS :((((((
Which is really sad
CSP is free too, depending on the teacher, make sure to ask someone who did take it with ur teacher
K ty
From what I've heard from upperclassmen us is really tough
K
Again, depends per school and person
ty
I might take APCSA next year too
my school has a goofy independent study thing
Both CSP and CSA?
where you do all the tests and assignments for the class without being in the class
Also what exactly do u mean
You're talking about the physics c stuff while taking AP Phy 1 🤔
So you still get a normal grade on ur transcript 🤔?
yeah
I could see reasons to not do that 🤔
Pretty much, mechanics and one are super similar, and I would already know the enm stuff from studying for the Olympiad
And sadly I have to take physics at the school so I want to get it out of the way soph year
I also kinda wanna learn java
I'm actually self studying coding this summer so I can get better internships
How much do colleges care about the credits tho, like does every AP exam count for a diff credit u skip
AP CS a barely has a useful level of Java 🤔
I'm taking them that way I can take upper level physics at my local University as part of the stem program, it would allow me to take classes like modern physics, thermodynamics, stuff like that
So you're using ap credits before you even go to college through DE? 😭
Which would also help me get internships because it would show I'm good at upper level physics
Taking over achievement to the next level man 😭
Yep, that is exactly what I'm doing
Yeaaaaaa
Yeah, they'd practically hire a uni student
Exactly, once I finish modern physics at the end of Junior year, I would have the equivalent physics knowledge of a rising junior at the local University allowing me to get insane internships and actually get good impact on the projects instead of just doing basic busy work
Mm yeah physics is crazy difficult to self study isn't it 🤔
It is, luckily my dad was a math professor so I have a lot of help
Chemistry feels a bit like it's taken the backseat in modern science 🤔🤔
Honestly yeah, it's just there to help out innovations in biology and physics
I feel like biophysics has more happening then chemistry right now
Like there's biochemistry
But besides that
There's very little activity in chemistry
Particle physics should be a chemistry field 🤔🤔
I mean physical chemistry probably has stuff happening
But then again physical chemistry is pretty much just Qm
Like if chemistry doesn't even contain particles then it's just such a shallow field overall 🤔
Exactly, chemistry is just a sub field of physics that's used for a lower level of understanding 🤔
You can make the argument all fields of science are just applied physics
You can make the argument that all science is applied logic
I unfortunately have to go, talk later man
Mk 😔
how many APs should I take if I'm aiming for ivy leagues
How many does your school offer
There's no "hard number"
not sure
my state isnt requiring world history and economics next year
The average would be around 10-12 with pretty much all honors for a 4.7 wgpa
You don’t need a ton of APs. 7-10, with a weighted GPA of 4.4-4.6.
This year’s valedictorian at my high school is going to Stanford and her GPA is 4.4. Your extracurriculars are worth more than GPA for the most part.
This year's valedictorian
Yeah, if your school's best is a 4.4 wgpa then taking a low amount of APs or honors doesn't matter
She took around 5-6 of our 13.
The highest my school has had is a 4.7.
Being valedictorian is the best extenuating circumstance you can have for a bad wgpa 🤔
The average GPA of those that get into Harvard is a 4.18, so aiming for a 4.4 and above is pretty good.
That's not true at all 💀
I read the wrong thing. 4.18 was in 2021.
ECs and essays matter more than gpa, but a 4.5-4.7 or a valedictorian or saludatorian level gpa for your school should be good
Don't think that leaves any room for argument
I need 1 english credit and 2 (of the same) language credits to graduate. I have Eng 1 2 and 3 (3 honors) and Spanish 1. What else should I take that I can finish in summer+2 semesters (hopefully 1 semester - i need a free semester)
what classes did everyone take their freshman year
idk but i’m a freshmen and i took
English 1 Honors
Intro to engineering design honors
Chemistry Honors
AP World history
Geometry Honors
Algebra 2 Honors
AP computer science principles
depends if u like it
could you take french or any language in 7th grade
oh
i don’t remember what we had to do to get the credit
i think it was also that or just pass the class
bro i took spanish 1 in 7th grade and spanish 2 in 8th
i knew ZERO spanish
finals were scary
or check what ur top colleges recommend u to take in hs
most do recommend 3-4 years so try and push thru a third year
yea a lot of the colleges im aiming for recommend 3-4 years, i will take one next year and if i feel like i can push through a fourth ill do 4 :)
ty!
orchestra, english 1, life skills.ethnic studies, geometry, biology, pe dance, and study skills. Id have taken honors but they dont let us take those in freshman year
question: do you think it’s best to take a foreign language or a heritage language? like a language that your parents speak from where they came from
It depends on your personal goals and also practical considerations
You may choose to prioritize practical considerations and opt for a widely spoken foreign language
OR
You can prioritize your heritage and deepen your connection to your cultural roots and heritage
understood, but do you think colleges would care?
like if you take a foreign language they can see that you’re pushing yourself to something new
Short answer is no
Demonstrating proficiency in any foreign language is advantageous
Let me ask you this: what is the difference between heritage language and foreign language? @silver temple
What do you mean by poisted?
ignore it
i wasn’t sure how to word it but like a language that your ancestors speak
for heritage language
If a student is, let's say, Chinese, and they don't know if they want to deepen their understanding of Chinese or learn a new language like Spanish or French; the short answer is colleges don't care. Chinese, French, Spanish, etc. are all foreign languages
So colleges wouldn’t think that the student is trying to get a free 100 for taking Chinese?
From a practical standpoint, learning a widely spoken foreign language increases your marketability in the world. Preserving the language spoken by your parents or ancestors can also preserve your own culture, its values, customs, traditions, etc.
Got it
Colleges generally recognize the effort and dedication required to learn any language
Alright thanks for the help
It also depends on the depth of study. For example, if a Hispanic person who is fluent in Spanish takes AP Spanish, then college admissions are still impressed because of its AP status
Understood
Is calc bc wise without having done calc ab prior?
3 years is the maximum any college expects you to take isnt it
yes
calc bc is basically only 2 units more
Just take ab
u will take calc 2 and possibly 3 depending on ur bachelors in the future
if u find ab easy then u still have time to do bc no need to hurry
is AP psych ,AP econ, AP calc BC( took AB) Independent Research Science DE and US History DE( unsure if i should take AP) enough for junior year
Is it wise to self-study for AP Calc BC while taking AP Calc AB in the classroom? My school does not offer AP Calc BC. A friend of mine told me you’re given a score for AB when you take the BC exam anyway, so what’s the point of even taking the AB exam?
Sure yeah, that's probably the best choice
That sounds like a pretty rigorous course load, I'm guessing you have an English course you didnt mention
u get a “sub-score”
so u get a score for AB and BC
do u really need it? then yes take bc or else dont waste ur time
what the fudge
I don't think there's any fudge involved

?
ik 3 years of foreign language looks good, but how much better is 4 years?
like im not so confident in my ability to get a good grade in spanish 4 with all my other classes next year
and i was considering dropping it for varsity tennis
im gonna be a junior next year if that helps
any advice?
Hello, im an upcoming sophomore and I've taken honors biomed principles for next year, but I'm also given the option to skip straight to Health Science. I believe in pursuing a degree towards biomedical engineering and applied sciences. Should I skip straight to Health science or continue with principles of biomed?
i think that either way you go won't matter a whole ton
which class would you be more excited about taking?
I personally prefer the technological side of medicine. Especially with artifical intelligence, that really fascinates me. I find it mentally difficult to actually operate or try to physically help a person. 😅
well unless you want to go to med school you won’t have to actually physically operate on anyone
really it doesn’t matter as long as you get your final major
any tips on my junior year schedule guys? I'm taking AP Chem, AP Bio, AP Psych, AP Calc BC, AP Lang, Chinese 3 (as a non native speaker), and another elective; i'm also self studying world
Thats a lot of damage.
You sure you can take all of that?
You AT LEAST need to take world off.
however i have already done bio on my own, i'm only taking it in school because it adds a weighted course
yeah, because of USABO and science olympiad
that makes sense tbh, im probably going to end up not doing world as im just self studying and have that option
this sched doesn't include extracurriculars and work too
literally why
Assuming Medicine?
my intended major?
like do you have extracurriculars?
many
Yes.
neuro/oncology i wanna be a surgeon
because honestly that work load + ecs make me think that your ecs aren’t that important to you
Take off AP Lang 🤫.
bro i wish, it's required for us
Is anything else required?
okay I’m gonna be so fr as much as premed needs science basis at this point you also gotta get that research going
or like passion
because like there’s toooo many only grades ppl out there
ive won awards for science fair in regionals/county before, im trying to get to state and nationals this year; doing scioly hopefully; part of student government and a bunch of clubs including MUN; also have a job working at a science center and am working on research
okay cool
i've written 3 research papers (2 on my own and 1 with an internship) and am working on a fourth
How are you gonna balance that 😭
like it’s good to have a spike for sure
but unless you’ve won UNASCO gold or platinum it’s not really gonna be spike-y enough
okay well research papers are bs unless you got them in like nature, but colleges want to see genuine interest
im taking 3 weighted classes this year and gonna study calc
its either i take ap chem next year or ap physics
spike as in like a MAJOR award/selling point
?
AP Chem 💪
Spike as in all of your ecs are focused on one point/subject
🫡
ik the acceptance rates but i want to be mindful of what im doing yk
yeah like what makes you sooo much better at stem compared to other kids
…I mean you don’t really need that for premed
like at all
frankly it’s med school that matters
my dad went to all Ivy and my mom didn’t but rn she’s making like 4x his salary lmfao
it just matters in what you specialize in
ah gotcha
true but its a want
yea
valid but in the grand scheme of things it’s not like u want law school or something where it does matter a lot
yeah, im just thinking if i run with those schools in mind that raises my chances for everything and keeps me motivated
fair fair
how do i like emoji react
uhm
if you’re on a phone then long click on a message
and it’s the first thing you see
computer?
right click I think? Idk
womp womp
you just hover over a message and look at the left, and you'll see an emoji icon
you click that and choose what emoji you want
i tried that doesn't work
I am a freshman in HS and am currently taking german 1
ok
i plan on taking german 3 next year by skipping german 2 cuz i want to learn on my own time
would it be more beneficial for me to take German 4 junior year or should i reserve that spot for an AP?
i would have 3 foreign lang credits next year if i take german 3 because i would get credit for both german 2 and 3
Hi everyone....I'm thinking of joining med school In a UK college but don't know what to specialise in
I mean you don't have to take 4 years but if you want to, AP German would be best if you could handle it, due to it increasing your Weighted GPA.
u wil get exposure to diverse medical fields but you need to join the med school first.
german 4 is weighted at my school
which is why i am conflicted
it counts as an honors credit
Thanks in advance... needed to clear some questions
feel free to ask anything else, glad I was of assistance
Alright, need some help w hs courses
what's the question?
Alr so I’m a sophomore rn, my school runs on a block schedule so we have 7 classes in total. Next year, I’m thinking of taking Apush, Ap stats, Ap lang, Ap gov, Ap Econ(micro/macro), h-physics, dual enrollment in business (online), then at home as an extra I was going to take Ap spanish online… am I cooked?
My school makes it a little easier on aps making the A’s easier to get
But still
We can take any Ap whenever
I guess its fine but idk how difficult Apush will be
So my school doesn’t offer Econ or computer science so I have to take them online. Idk if the computer will let me take both at the same time. I am also taking apgov, stats?, Spanish, and then either honors physics or Apes. Idk if that’s too much for me ( it’s my senior year next year and I’m used to only 1 ap)
So my question is
Should I take Econ or CSP
I really want to take Econ becuase I’m intrrstdd in it, but I might wanna go into a major in cs
Take them online
Does is still go on your transcript 🤔?
Yea
Wait if I wanna go into video game design , like creating a video game , do I major in cs or in software engineering
I also suck at math btw
software engineering
Major in game dev 🤔
You don't even need a degree for game dev too 🤔
Is there a lot of math?
Do you wanna do game dev or script games
Like I want to design a game
Then a degree would be useless
I want to work for a company that creates games
Like Nintendo
So you want to work as a game designer
I know not Nintendo
Yes
Oh
Game design isn't even software engineering
Then that's game scripting yes
Game dev basically
Ohh
And why? Just wondering
Becuase I want to be able to create somthing
I don’t want to just add the picture
I want it to be what I designed and developed
If you're just scripting at a aaa company that's not what you're doing
Ok so you wanna be an indie game dev
Then a degree would again be useless
🤔
Nvm
should i join journalism class because my ela teacher im an amazing writer? 💀
do you enjoy writing?
a bit but im more interested in science
I would say focus more on the science, you still get to show off your writing with the lab reports
ok thanks
Journalism isn't even writing anyway 🤔
If it's an elective i wouldn't do it, if it fulfills an English credit tho 🤔
what is music appreciation?
Y’all do you know if HL classes give more credits than SL classes?
is areonautical engineering a good course?
yuupppp
but it needs a lot of potential
and a lot of hardwork
not everyone's piece of cake i would say
ohhh sameee
oh shoot thats true
its either journalism or litmag
idk which
I'm pretty sure a levels courses like those are usually weighted around 4.5
they do, in fact, some colleges only take hl credits
What are AICE Courses?
ofc!
alr thanks!
ap pre calc credit doesn’t rlly matter if your gonna take calc ab or bc later
apparently the objectives of ap pre calc are similar to those of honors so maybe you can study for the ap pre calc test next year too
ap pre calc is wacky
do honors classes yield 4.5 or 5.0 GPA?
Is ap capstone worth it? My dream school has like a 50% acceptance rate but there’s this local scholarship Im going for that’s pretty prestigious. I think it would help me stand out there but from what I understand it’s seminar is just an English elective
4.5!
AP capstone is overhyped by collegeboard
Better off doing AP Lang and/or AP Lit
sometimes 4 depending on the college and course
Really 🤔
Well my teachers said that depending on your future major, like math for example, it can help with getting into STEM or something
What’s that
For an aspiring IR major AP human geo or comp sci a
should i take AP or Honors english when i enter hs?
Does honors english teach mostly grammar? Or anything else?
I haven’t been taught grammar since 8th grade
But because it’s not a standardized curriculum it’s going to be based on what your school/district wants
When you enter take honors. I would say you should certainly take AP language. I personally didn’t get much out of AP lit when I took it however that’s because I’m a STEM major and will never touch lit again
AP Human Geography is more directly relevant to your IR studies
but doesnt it look bad since most people think its an ez class
There is no “easy” AP classes
Yes some have a reputation for being easier compared to some other classes, but regardless they still introduce you to college-level coursework
That depends on the teacher lol
For me, I had to create several representation and did extensive research on two of the UNSDGs. When nearing the AP exam, we were all tasked to create a portfolio containing seven items that helped us study for the exam (practice tests, projects, research, flash cards, FRQs)
And also APCSP is way easier than APHG if that makes it more convincing
Is biochemistry a good career option
depends if you like it
can someone please tell me what AP lang is like. i really want to take it next year and im also wondering if it'll give me an advantage on sat or if English Lit is more that? #course-selection dont think i should tag..
too, the ap exam is also pretty tough (as someone who is currently studying for it too, and has heard things from many people and has taken practice exams)
will be tough
one of the hardest ap exams
i wasn't apart of the convo my bad 🥲
Does anyone know the benefits of DP business management or DP Visual arts? I can only choose one of them and I don’t know which
I feel like i should take AP Lang for my junior year but english is my weakest subject and it’s might be to much with( BC, psych and econ ) APs . With Dual enrollment wit US History and Independent Research Science
Everyone is talking AP lang
How much harder is ap lang than the honors or regular version of English that you could take
much harder
like honors we have no hw
and they don’t care about grammar
in honors
What 😭
What 😭
Take the honors then, at worst you get like 0.05 less wgpa
The lesser course load will help u focus on ECs and a healthy balance
How much AP Lang hw load is there at ur school anyway though 🤔
yo wsg y’all
i take eco businesses maths accounting rn
for as levels
prob gonna take the same next year
but im thinking of what course to do for uni
maybe eco and finance but
give some suggestions
and what extracurriculars i could do in summer
Think about it in terms of career, not uni course or major
What career do you want to do, what do you not to do
help
sorry

The AP exam is not hard
It’s probably one of the easiest AP exams
I feel like the reason that many students complain is because they take it during their freshman year, and most of them overestimated their own abilities for rigorous AP coursework
omg that is so annoying
in all my classes i get like no hw. Maybe one assingment from geometry and one from algebra but they aren’t long to complete. I also get one smartbook assingment that we have over a week to complete for world history.
lol at my school you can't take aps freshman year 🥲
i wish tho
really?
but how they word things with questions
unless from experience you have indomitible reading skill
lol
indomitable*
I don’t remember there being that many reading questions
when did you take it
There were a lot of data though
Freshman year
i mean by how they word things
to throw you off drastically, my teacher who is also very educated in this subject and all of this says that people who find it easy are probably psychopaths
but thats his opinion not mine
what ap exam are y’all talking about?
ap hug (HUMAN GEO)
oh
i have to take the ap world test, i think i know most of the course information, but i don’t know the vocab that they use to ask the questions so i gotta study that
I just looked at a random practice exam; everything looks pretty straightforward
If I was in a time crunch, I would strictly only study the FRQs
The MCQ section took me about half of the allotted time. On the FRQs you have to have some serious bs skills
how much time are we speaking of in a time crunch?
have you taken the whap exam
yes
Half an hour?
oh
yeah
we study frq's in class anyway but i will like the last day i can i could study frqs strictly
No
damn
cuz we aren’t even done with the course information
we haven’t even started to talk about the cold war
I transferred high schools in the middle of the year, so I had to stop taking world cuz my new school didn’t offer it
womp womp ||im so sorry||
oh dang
Probably will be self-studying apwh
gl
but the real question is.. @grim wind why is it regarded as one of the hardest ap exams?
Because it requires a lot of recalling content and information
The content itself is easy, it's just a large quantity of content
people overreact bc of the chronology and information even tho its supposed to be ez since it functions like a story
ohhh
that just feels so hard to believe though
its weird
i find it easy though
but i don't like saying that with confidence
even though im okay at recalling a lot of information (when necessary)
idk
i don't want to be selfish
or overly prideful and confident and cocky
what did you get on it (sorry its bad to ask 🥲 )
Does anyone know if I should take this program where you can earn your associates degree during high school? I feel like It has its cons if I do decide to go out of state like when applying to colleges the college credits might not transfer or like it would decrease my chances of being accepted to out of state colleges. This is a great opportunity but I have mix feelings as I still want to take AP classes during my highschool years but I don't want to risk losing out on being accepted if I do take this program if that makes any sense?
have an A in normal english too but considering ap lit
How much does the exam matter to you tho 🤔
The grade matters more for most metrics 🤔
U can prep for the exam urself for the credit, plus u only need a 4 that's easy enough
I need help for my schedule next year I’ll be a junior and I want to go into healthcare sciences, here is my current idea, should I take ap bio or physics, also what is one other class to take?
AP Lang
AP Calc BC
AP Psych
AP Bio
PLTW Human Body Systems (healthcare)
Honors Spanish 3
is ap lang good for SAT? is the work also worth for colleges and stuff, etc, skills?
yea idk what i wanna do lmao
im kinda lost thats why im sayin
Well, what field do you wanna be in?
Agriculture, Medicene, stem, visual arts, business management, finance, education, government, law and law enforcement, military, marketing, social sciences, or blue collar?
It might be better to start marking off instead of choosing what u wanna do if u have no idea 🤔
Should I take biology honors in hs?
What kinda uni do u wanna go to
Im not really sure but I want to look good for whatever college I choose
94-95-96-100 -> 97
Then you should treat honors as your baseline
Take every course that you can as an honors, and then take APs as your course load and school allows
finance/eco/business but i want like a good salary and a market whihc has potential growth
Alr thanks
And you're sure of that? Have you had any exposure to the field? Have you weighed the other options?🤔
Regretting this decision would suck for your motivation 🤔
thats what im sayin i got no idea
Then list stuff you don't wanna do
comes upto these
Why, you just said u had no idea
because im interested in them and have been for a rlly long time
Ok so you do indeed have an idea
but idk what in these fields
Interest and passion is good
like the subject choice is vague but what should i do
like career options
is what im asking
Management can pretty much be boiled down into one core skill and then skills for whatever you 'specialise' in as a manager
Have you handled any kind of teams or done smth on ur own initiative?
Like a passion project or competition team or club
i mean sports team but thats all
but dont u think business is too saturated
thats why im thinking mostly eco/finance
Hmm.. it can be hard to isolate that feeling from just one experience
like a lot of students do business nowdays
Business by definition as a concept can't be saturated, fields and industries that you might do a business in can be
but degree wise
it has a lot of people
Not even
CS and Medicine take more people then 🤔
Source 🤔
That's not.. how you research a topic.. I can give you a source that says it isn't
like rn i take businesse eco accounting maths
which
The NCES Fast Facts Tool provides quick answers to many education questions (National Center for Education Statistics). Get answers on Early Childhood Education, Elementary and Secondary Education and Higher Education here.
From what angle
money/growth
Do u not know how to read a graph tho 😭
It's third 😭
im more of a eco person but ive started liking accounting
And that includes marketing and stuff too
bro im on my iphone my shits small
sorry
Postsecondary institutions conferred 2.1 million bachelor’s degrees in 2020–21. More than half (58 percent) were concentrated in these six fields of study:
business (391,400 degrees, or 19 percent);
health professions and related programs (268,000 degrees, or 13 percent);
social sciences and history (160,800 degrees, or 8 percent);
biological and biomedical sciences (131,500 degrees, or 6 percent);
psychology (126,900 degrees, or 6 percent); and
engineering (126,000 degrees, or 6 percent).
@solemn hamlet
The thing I sent u was literally from the government yk 🤔
scroll down a bit
The government probably knows what degree was given to who
yeah scroll a bit down
Oh wait
What 😭
Yeah
11% business
Ohhh
Whoops
That's associates
Entirely mb
Mk so maybe I'm just dumb 😭
lmao
its aigh
like i said business very common out here
thats why eco/finance
and i wanna know what careers i can get into
Yeah but it's also pretty high demand
You could probably write 2 and get a 4 🤔
I mean actually probably not considering 🤔
Hey are AP or IB classes harder
is it?
ion think so
plus i think even salaries for business grads droppin
like look
supply of business grads is increasing right?
wages therefor decrease
now or later doesnt matter
thats hwy if you know anything about eco/finance i wanna know
IB fr
But it depends per class
No
Demand increases too
As the population and world economy grows
Wait fr 💀
lemme check previous
i think a fresher yeah
oh nahh
average annual is 65k
@solemn hamlet 😭
unless u got mba fc
masters
Well
A master's for business is way more common isnt it
Then yeah that bachelor's number makes sense
What
Damn
so like Physics per example
is AP Physics harder than IB Physics SL and HL?
hey need advice on my subject choices, im looking to take psychology in college so (these are all for the IB DP program)!
Lang & Lit HL
Spanish B SL
Psychology HL
Biology HL
History SL
Math AI SL
ive contemplated taking visual arts instead of histiry but in the end i prefer history more.
im still not sure about biology. i took bio only bcs i can handle bio HL more than chem. if i switch to chem, it would be SL. idk which one is better for teh course and in general i score pretty much teh same in both, so im not sure.
I’m in IB so 100% it is
We have to do so much freaking writing 😭
But it definitely has its benefits
All of them 😭
Well technically I start the program next year since I’m still in 10th grade :p
I can show you the ones I chose for next year tho!
💀
I was thinking of doing physics but I hardly understand chemistry so idk man 😞
Real
they are different
how you have geometry for next year if youre in 10th grade
dont you take algebra 1 9th grade
she’s in geometry rn
she’s a sophomore
ohh mb
is alg 2 and pre
Calc good for yr 8, tryna do math olympiads
Classes won’t do anything for you
You have to do competition math
Outside of school
eveeryone differnety
How bad is the AP Music Theory singing?
If I take one cp course, will that ruin my chance of getting into an Ivy league school or a T20
So I can still get into a prestigious university
yes??..
this server is so overdramatic
😭
i swear ppl are like "omg if i dont take 20000 aps i wont get into ivys"
Hey everyone, I wanted your inputs on something. I'm a rising senior and I'll have completed 7 AP/IBs by the end of my junior year. I am currently selecting courses for the next year, and here's my dilemma----I'm currently taking two IB classes which are HL (meaning they last 2 years in duration). From a college admissions standpoint, would it look better to take two APs instead of these IBs? I'm trying to hit around 10 AP/IBs, and what I'm confused about is that if I continue these two IB classes, can I count 9 total (Current 7+2 of senior year) or will colleges still view it as 7 AP/IBs throughout high school as I'm continuing the same IB courses again. If this doesn't make sense please let me know, I'll try to explain it better as I may not have explained it best here
My school requires us to take PREAP psych alongside AP psych now to better prepare for the AP exam.
I want to take the AP exam. My summer courses offer AP psych as a semester course ,
So is it better to take that summer course and self study for the AP exam or just take it during school?
Rn I have it listed for in school
Ik but what’s the difference between physics and the other course? (Environ Sys & Social SL)
wait so why did you say its so much writing?
CP stands for? 🤔
Your Wgpa as a number matters, and it only matters to a point. For T20s, ECs are more important.
also getting into a t20 doesnt really matter 😭
its just a shiny title
its cool but not what completely matters
is this where i can ask about like, going into ib/ig/tawjihi n stuff?
College prep level class
The easiest level offered by your high school
Yall think too much 🤦
They’re preparing us for next year by giving us something to write about every other week
No, that's what I thought too just like a low level of class
Rate my 10th grade classes next year:
Academic Decathlon
AP Precalculus
AP Physics 1
AP Chemistry
Anatomy & Physiology
English 2 Advanced
AP World History
Spanish 3 Advanced
my rating is: good luck
Thx
anyone know what courses are best in economics or finance
Nice but how come you're skipping AP Seminar?
No I meant the person thinking that a cp class would ruin their application
mm yeah they're definetely lacking in the critical thinking department
what
Does your school just not offer honors classes?
Typically afaik, there's an option to take English 2 or AP Seminar, AP Seminar is a replacement for the English 2 credit.
ur state is prob weird or smth
AP Seminar is usually an elective
Weird, in Kentucky it's definitely not, and we have no honors classes :(
true
I assume you go to a private school?
CP = college prep?
Ap macro or micro
