#course-selection

I mean AP world history is ranked a C if its ranked F-A in my opinion in difficulty
its not too hard but its not easy
Bruh is that what engineers do nowadays only CAD?
Thats just fucking Architecure
Not really, I've looked at a few questions and the course material so it's not too hard
AP world is usually one of the few courses freshman start off with so I think you're good
Okay thanks, was just wondering bc my friend said its bad cuz the teacher doesn’t teach and stuff
If the teacher doesn't teach, you're going to have to self study
But honestly, it's not too hard to self study, all you need to do is stay ahead by like 2 units
Which shuoldn't be a problem
O
I’m not taking an aps next year besides maybe world history
Wiat nvm
sorry
i confused u with someone
💀 💀 💀 💀 💀
SORRY 😭
Yeah it's not that bad
Just make sure to study continously
Okay
gl
Should I take ap lit or English IV H after ap lang
Most people at my school are saying ap lit is hard since you have to do lots of reading so I guess it’s more for people who like to read
So which one ?
Guess I’ll see by meeting the ap lit teacher at my school to see if the work is actually super hard or if it’s more moderate but not easy
what is more worth ap go/apmacro or ap lit
Im taking 6 IB clases next year what would be the best APs to fill my last 2 classes with
if u want to commit death then do that
If im not first Im last
ok 💀 go you!! 💀
nah Im jk but for real I feel like my ecs are lacking and im not having any difficulty in my academics so I think I want to add some APs in my schedule.
6 IBs arent difficult?!! 🤨
IG so, I havent taken them yet but i guess Im just not worried because I know all of my future IB teachers really well and they are all great + helpfull. also rn I have PE activities and weight lifting in the two open spots which I dont need with my sports.
is the IBDP worth it
i want to do business/finance/eco in future
but people say bm in IBDP is absolutely useless when u have eco HL
I need some help choosing some highschool classes for next year as a freshman any suggestions
what cvourses are available?
i'd say take the hardest courses possible
are you doing HL
its a whole lot of work
like 2 hrs a day of only notes
it depends on the school and teachers
APs or IB classes will never make up for ECs
Especially if you wanna go to a competitive uni
For T50s and above, ECs > GPA
What are some future proof majors/jobs and courses necessary and clubs that help and are that are scattered between:
tech —> comp sci, software engineering/developer, programmer etc
Sci ——> all the science fields like chemistry or physics or science and engineering related like comp sci
Engineering —> Mech engineering, Civil engineering (not sure), chemical engineering, software or hardware related, and aerospace engineering
Is there is any clubs or majors/jobs that have to do with math, include that too
Thxs or all and any advice that you give, I appreciate it!
There is a limit to something being interdisciplinary, but if you consider software engineering to be a type of engineering then there's computational biology or bioinformatics
Computer science or computational research seems to be what you're looking for, p much ticks all ur boxes
My friend wants to know if these classes will be rigorous for junior year
AP Seminar
Alg 2-1 (accelerated)
Physics 1-1(accelerated)
World History 1(accelerated)
Spanish 4 Honors
Art 1
For junior year?
Algebra 2?
Yes my friend didn’t really care about academics freshman year nor 8th grade so he didn’t get to skip a level in math
He plans after junior year
To do pre calculus over the summer
And do calculus 1-1 senior year
Thoughts?
Well, why do they want a rigorous curriculum? If it's rigorous for them
Alg2 is a junior year subject??
He wanted me to review his classes
Yeah, Algebra is an HS class
Like alg 1
I know that but I didn't know it was a junior year subject
Because he wants to bump up some rigor in his classes
Algebra 1 is supposed to be taken freshman year
Well, then it sounds like it's rigorous for him
Our school follows an accelerated program I think then
Same
Normal class is geometry freshman year
Algebra 2 enriched is our advanced freshman class
Yeah p much every school does
i mean it makes sense
But algebra is a HS class, even if most people take it in MS now
me personally they should make multivariable calc a hs class but thats just me
Collegeboard would sue that school district
Why?
CLEP
??
CLEP --> Multivariable calculus exam --> profit for collegeboard
If Multivariable calculus was offered as a standard HS class they wouldn't profit anymore
Oh, do you mean like a Multivariable calc AP? There isn't enough demand for that
What’s an SAT?
A test..
Oh
What grade ru in?
0?
Ur in North America too…
Not in high school
0h grade?
NA isn't just the US
Exactly, what grade 🤔
Yeah but most people who are in this server who r in NA r from the US or Canada
Bro you know that it'd be less sus if u lied
STAAR?
Ya
The Texan State Exam???
Sounds like an elementary school test 💀
It’s middle school
Too
I took it a couple days ago
Lmao
Why do you need to give it then
State Exam.. requirement
Or else you get put into Labs and tutorials
Middle school leaving exam?
No yearly
Ever since 3rd grade
And then for high school it’s EOC
Mk so since they don't know about it they must be in 3rd grade
which is basically same thing different name
No he said he needed help with the Star test
Ok nvm brain explosions will occur
Hi, I want to decide if I should take some spares or fill them up with AP computer science classes.
For context, my school follow a semester system, with students being able to take 4 classes a semester and one full year morning class. I have 7 classes, one being a morning class, and hopefully 3 each semester, leaving me with 2 spares.
The thing is, computer science classes are great grade boosters and it would be nice to have more APs under my belt, however, I also don't want to overwhelm my schedule.
I was going to have a spare this year (I'm a junior) but decided to take Biology 2 to get another mandatory leaving examination out of my way. It was a great decision as it helped me decide which major I wanted to go into.
I do want to take some computer science electives in university, but 1, I can't minor in computer science since I'll be applying for an honors degree, and 2, the classes I'll get credit for aren't ones I'm even taking because I'm doing mostly robotics classes that for some reason have different prerequisites than other comp sci streams.
Also, I'll be taking the national biology olympiad next year, and since I'll have to study for that, would it be a good idea to take the biology AP exam without taking the class? It was too late for me to switch to AP this year, but since I'll have finished the course and will be reviewing anyways, is that a good idea?
how hard is ap lang?
It's definitely a jump from the level of writing and reading comprehension you have to do, but I'd say it's interesting and useful.
Hi, I'm a rising freshman, and my high school offers APUSH for 9th graders. However, I'm going to a magnet school, so the math and science classes are more rigorous (I'm fairly good at STEM so I don't think it will be extremely challenging but there will a lot of work from those classes). Should I select for APUSH next school year?
how hard is ap lit?
I have the same question but if you like reading and answering questions a lot while reading I think you won’t struggle much
I’m doing AP lang rn but AP lit is slightly different and idk if I should take it becuase other people said it was difficult
I’m kind of stuck in between since others are saying it’s hard but at the same time it’s similar to AP lang
my only reason to take it is for a gpa raise
ah
but i am somewhat good at reading
Idk you could switch it to English IV H then
Also the books are going to contain lots of pages I think
Do you like reading long. Old
AP helps for college app and skipping intro courses in college I think
my school does lit before lang (im a junior next year)
Strange I’m doing lang junior year and I might do lit senior year depending on certain factors
If I take lit I’m doing 5 APS next year I’m doing 3 APS rn tho
So again I might cut it down to 4 depending on certain factors
I’m taking ap env or ap euro since I might switch one of those into AP art
Or I’ll take both if I fail APUSH and AP BIO
Like the exam
ap lit is probably not going to count for college credit its only good for gpa boost for me since i want to do engineering in college
ap lang will though
its just my school that does lit before lang other schools in my city do lang before lit
But if I fail the ap lang exam I might do ap lit
i might just do honors english classes junior year then take ap lang senior
a lot of people are complaining about the class in my school
i plan on doing apush and ap stats junior year, then ap calc ab, physics c mech, and chem senior year
Ok
Also some of the AP courses might be required since my school requires it regardless tho
I’ll have to discuss on Monday just to make sure with my counselor
alright
is lang hard tho?
im good at essays but hate reading
Nah it’s mostly writing
ah
Oh don’t take lit then
Rhetorical analysis, argument, and synthesis essay is what you prepare for throughout the year
But yeah there will be writing projects to do like essays for certain things
And you’ll do a lot of MCQ as well which will be in the exam too
Yup
I might take DE COMP II instead of AP Lit next year
But I will see depending on if AP lit is possible to outcome
Either comp or English IV H
Is it possible to take a dual enrollment after AP or no
Depends if you like history or not. If you are just in it for the gpa boost then the class will be hell for you. The difficulty of the class depends on the teacher but usually the course load is heavy.
My school do not even offer APs before senior year…
trash school
And we are not even allowed to take a full schedule for 10th grade
I think they’re short on budget or something
This is stressful 🥲
I’m taking AP lang rn and I’m unsure of if I want to take AP lit or not so in case I don’t am I able to take English IV H or DE COMP II instead?
why's that? its not your fault
how hard is it compared to english 2
I’m taking AP lang rn and it’s not super bad honestly just a lot of writing like essays which aren’t to hard
I’ve taken eng II H and the only difference really is the amount of writing assignments and writing itself that you do so if your able to keep up with it try it out
Only thing that’s probably hard is the exam
(Kinda obvious) but the class assignments have decent due dates and it’s not insanely hard but it does have a bit of a kick to it
like how many essays per month?
Depends on the teacher I think
Idk if it is every month but you do work on writing for small texts for a few weeks
Check collegeboard
hi
once im 18 month after starting senior year should i try to change my classes to the ones i want without parents notice?
hmm
(they might notice if they see report card of sorts or such but ye idk)
do the classes you want to do
dont let your parents decide it for you
thats js messed up
wanna take idk pe, animal science, surrvey of ag etc
yeah i
they have to until im 18
oh srs?
yep
thats so weird
school counselor told me
anyways yeah switch to the classes that you want to do
ok
i hope i'll be able to change em for at least the 2nd semester if i cant do the 1st
yeah
so what do I need to be good st to take ap lang?
Main thing is you want to be good at writing a formal essay
And that includes having a good claim, body, and conclusion
To break it down a bit you need a good intro and thesis when it come to writing in ap lang and sub claims with body paragraphs that provide small quotes of evidence with lots of commentary (aka reasoning)
The conclusion should kind of tie back to the thesis as well I think
You’ll learn more about this when you sign up for the course
Oh also I think the pre requisites of ap lang are ap seminar and ap research but I don’t think it’s required those are just recommendations to help you prep
Actually pre requisite is required but it might vary depending on your school
Nvm they don’t have any I think
Your school might need a requirement beforehand so talk with your counselor I searched this online
Hi, I’m taking AP lang rn and I’m unsure of if I want to take AP lit or not so in case I don’t am I able to take English IV H or DE COMP II instead?
bruh why ru asking ppl if they arent from ur school
😭
most likely u can lower levels??..
dawg cuz I’m bad at naming decision I need advice
ok but is there a negative to not doing it
That’s why I can’t decide
If I take it it could be too hard but then it might be bad to not take it at the same trike
I got a bit higher on AP Lang surprisingly, but I'd say the time constraints for essays are more strict and the reading comp is more difficult.
If I take lit I do5 ap classes so is it bad to only do 4 if I remove it
hey everyone if i dont give ap exams my chances of getting into ivy gonna decrease ?
Yes but I’m making sure I don’t miss any opportunities
lower weighted GPA
its is not entirely dependent on it but its preffered if you do take them. although you should keep in mind that ivy colleges dont only look into the ap classes. just focus on the overall gpa academics and extracurricular activities for now
By a lot or no?
Cuz I’m only taking one dual enrollment so would that hurt my GPA a lot
Hold on does DE give extra points to your grade like honors (3 points) and AP (5 points)
what are some tips for a student who is supposed to take AP gov next year?
yeah, that's basically weighted gpa
your school might not do it but colleges will
Ok if my school does it would I get 3 extra pints like honors
For most colleges, 4.0 in AP = 5.0
4.0 in honors = 5.0
4.0 in DE = 5.0
Also does one dual enrollment in my entire high school year affect my course rigor or no
Cuz I’ve taken mostly APs but if I take one dual enrollment is my course rigor impacted severely when colleges look at that
Ah ok
So I don’t think it would hurt my course rigor too much then right?
Cuz if I pass the ap lang exam I don’t think I necessarily need to do the ap lit exam
I looked online and most colleges look at lang and lit as one, on top of that they mostly value lang more then lit as well
So therefore if I pass with a good score in lang like 3-5 then I don’t have to take it
But does that mean a dual enrollment course affects my overall course rigor in high school years or no
By a lot
No ik the weighted is 5.0 but like do you get 3 extra points to your course grade or 5 like the ap courses
Yooo, how's everyone doing, i had a question in mind for choosing my career path (i am currently in 11th Grade)
I personally really like the field of Computational Biology and hoping to make intrest into a career
However upon going through the future aspects etc, i found out that the pay and other benifits (Atleast with India in mind) are comparatively not as good as a conventional career path of a doctor yk - MBBS then MD/MS/DNS
I wanted to know-
-
about reaserch after MBBS and the Best career path for reaserch after MBBS in terms of future scope and renumeration
-
And if going the conventional way,
MBBS the MD/MS then specialisation etc will be a more rewarding path? -
Lastly, if let's say I become a doctor after MBBS and MD:MS Can i do reaserch along with clicinal work and how would the pay and stress etc be then?
Appreciate any guidance and support :D
if more money is a big priority to you, then don't go to computational biology
I cant rly help u on the other parts bc idk much about how the indian education system works sorry
i need help
i’m in 8th grade and next year i’m scheduled to take ap com aci and bc math analysis every other class im taking honors
i’m not sure whether or not to take honors bio
What significance would space sciences hold in the forseeable future? The scope is massive for this field and the trajectory for it shows no sign of slowing down. Any other astronomy/astrophysics and other space science enthusiasts here?
???
what would u rather suggest
thank u so much for responding doe, no worries
well ig if MBBS pays well then do that. idk how competetive that might be tho. or how in-demand it is in india. would u be willing to study that much to heal ppl?
Is taking music in high school first year okay or should i focus on classes related my desired course?
its okay its not a bad thing
if u want to take it then take it
Is is better to take the two computer science APs or two spares in my senior year?
I'm not majoring or minoring in CS as I'm doing an honors degree, and the classes I am taking aren't ones I can pass out of with the ap exams anyways.
But it is easy marks and more ap exams under my belt
Can i take 5 APs senior year?
They would AP Calc BC, AP Physics 2, AP European History, AP Lit, & AP French Lang
Do i need to take both normal bio and chem before AP bio? Or do i only need normal bio
Normal bio probably only
theres chem in unit 1 of ap bio
Yeah if you can handle the heat
im taking ap bio next year with a corequisite of chem
Ap bio is pretty hard
but just learn that portion of ap bio that has chem in it over the summer to prep for it
The main takeaway from my experience to you is that it’s important to stay consistent with studying
Idk about ap lit but if you like reading go for it!
What aps should u take in freshman year
Human Geo
human geo, apes, and ap pysch or popular among freshman aps
Is there any point in getting AP capstone?
id take ap world history but
I have a question
Do you need a physics background to take either of the physics C's
do they expect u to know physics 1 &2]
Oh
yeah cuz at my school the pre-req is calc
How hard are these aps?: Physics 1, physics 2, Physics C E&m and physics C mechanics
I think ima take physics C senior year, i'd think that'd be beneficial for me in the future
yeah im prob not doing engineering, i'd wanted to go into medicine
yeah im takin chem next yr
ap
and ap bio junior
yr
The AP capstone diploma
Completing AP seminar and AP research
Is getting AP capstone diploma any use for colleges
aphug or apcsa or apes
id say do 2 max.. i did 1 💀
cuz its freshman year
let him cook
Yes, as long as you have room in your schedule. It’s your money.
yeah ur cooked
ur major is cs
lol
and ur course selection looks mad difficult
where r u trying to apply
yeah ur cooked
i know someone with 1600 4.0 12 APs internship research etc. etc. and got rejected from all ivies and ucb
so don't get your hopes up is all im saying
no they had cracked essays
and they had pretty good extra curriculars
they started essays in June lmao
no just dont try to go to an ivy league for cs
or at least dont think ur gonna get in
you can try to shotgun ig
lol y
yeah
what year r u
wtf
good luck i didn't care abt college until like pretty recently
y lol
us colleges r good
you aint gettin in
yeah oxford is just as competitive as ivy
same
oxford??
ur trolling now ay
oxford international is probably more selective
just go to us colleges they better anyway
also most people who start worrying abt college in freshman have no life and are fake asf
yes they are
no?
they run for every leadership role then do nothing
?? thats a product of ur own experience
will i get into a somewhat good college if i start taking all honors/ap classes junior and senior year
because most ppl do stuff in leadership
yeah ig
bruh just take rigorous classes
nah i mean doing everything for college apps like they life is college
if u worded it like that then maybe
they doing random bs and then hyping it up on they admission
see thats different than what u said 😭
just to get rejected
well people who start worrying abt college super early tend to be like college obssessed
ik ive been taking regular classes freshman and sophomore year and im wondering if i start taking them junior it would affect my chances
lowkey like 2 more APs isn't make or break just have a somewhat course rigor ig
guys should i go into computer sci and editing w premier pro etc?
yes obvi
sure like wha am i supposed ot say
?
bro
its up to u
why ru asking us
depends if ur instate or out of state
whats the point of this channel then...
bro u literally asked
its course selection
"should I do this"
purdue in state is cheap asf
maybe make decision 4 urself
"hey should I take ap bio"
what should i say
"hey should i go to school tmrw"
yes u should
that decision is ur own
the pathway for web dev and all that is complex lol
ask someone who knows abt what that is like an industry professional or something
javascript is good
what makes more money computer sci or doctor
depends
doctor
gambler makes the most actually
it depends
99% of gamblers quit before they win big
Is college English difficult? I am planning to do duel enrollment and I am interested in taking an English class but I am awful at essay writing.
you can try to get better at it but if you still aren’t then you probably shouldn’t be taking it
i also plan on taking dual credit english too and from what ive heard its a lot of writing
Man I don’t know what I’m going to do in college then 😭, thx tho
do kinesology
bro has hatred against me
They meant like they're gonna find English difficult in college, not asking about major 😭
bros name says it all
Bro's name is mute
huh
Yo if I take one DE class out of all my high school years does that affect my college application a lot or no?
I’ve been taking lots of APs and I want to keep a balance in between
I want to challenge myself but also not over do it yk
if u take only 1 not really its still good tho
ok so it won’t be affected super badly?
Cuz I want to make myself look challenging but idk if taking one would’ve effected my challenging aspect of taking rigorous courses
dual enrollment is challenging tho?
it shows colleges u can take more courses and can handle academic rigor
Ik but from what I’ve heard online they accept ap more then de
I guess it depends tho so technically you’ve got a point regardless
Alright thanks for the tip in that case
Ap is more regarded
Ik but is it fine if I replace one ap class with de
sure
depends on how relevant the ap class is
if the de is more towards ur major u should take the de
it's perfectly fine, do note that AP is more well-known and college classes tend to be a little easier for the most part, do understand that DE credits may not transfer, but you can always take the equivalent AP exam to fish out its credit, so its completely dependent on the class and your application
It’s for English class the AP course btw and it’s required I think
oh yeah def take ap lang/lit
I took lang and I heard colleges look at lang and lit as kind of one
So I’m doing lang rn
lit be like

And ap lit is heavy reading which isn’t my thing yk
otherwise lit is still very good
Yes
Just do Lang, its not too bad and it often accepted by many classes
That’s what people basically told@me it feels like
Yeah
So I’ll take DE COMP II instead of AP lit
DE only goes to some state uni by chances so I wouldnt count on it
Um what should I take then I’m confused
Lang
Im doing lang already
I have ap lit that I can do or a de comp II class or English IV H classs to choose from
For my English section of the course selection
ap lit it then
But people at my school are saying it’s hard
Also I didn’t do lit this year cuz my school said it was for 12th grade not 11th which is what I’m in rn
i like reading when a teacher is not shoving 50 assignments on the book
sometimes i read for fun but as soon as a teacher assigns work i dont want to do it makes me want to hate the book
Should I take ap bio or take bio at pseo?
So will you be doing ap lit then?
ill ask someone in the class at my school
Ok I should probably ask someone at my school who’s done it as well to see
i dont like it when teachers assign too much work on the book so ap lit is dependent on the teacher
Or meet the ap lit teacher at my school to see what kind of assignments will be done throughout the year
Yea
My school offers basic English courses but the top courses probably are ap lit, eng 4 h, and de comp I/II
i took regular english 9th and 10th instead of honors but it is not required to take honors to do ap lit or dual enrollment english
honors english teachers sucked so i didnt take them
Other courses are regular English and ELD which is English development
These 2 suck
So that leaves me with AP Lit, Eng IV H, and DE Comp I/II
regular english is too easy for me
Yeah
i still manage to get high grades on reading tests only from sparknotes in regular english but i want to challenge myself a bit
So these are the English courses
my school offers a lot of 1 semester english courses
like film literature or american lit
You see where I’m going with this cuz there’s only top 3 to choose from since the rest are basically worthless
Yeah
i think 3 is a good amount of aps idk why im worrying
coming from taking 0 in freshman/ sophomore year
Yeah if I do lit I’m taking 5 APS but without it I’m doing 4
However I’m concerned that if I take DE instead it will be a waste
do you plan on going to college in state
Cuz AP lit might make things overwhelming combined with other 4 AP classes
Not sure but I might depending on certain factors
I think having one DE tho wouldn’t hurt
Since I’m only taking one dual enrollment in my time at high school
if ap lit is alright at my school then i will take it then
Yeah it all boils down to that
im taking 5 dual enrollment courses
in the course of my 4 years of high school
I’ll have to talk with my counselor and see if he can get me an opportunity to maybe meet with the lit teacher
In my 4 years I’m going to take 11/12 ap classes I think
ill look at my schools website for an ap lit curriculum
Should I take ap biology or dual enrollment biology?
6-7 for me and my school offers 17
dual enrollment if you want to stay in state for college
I’m undecided
ap if you want a gpa raise or go out of state
It’s really hard to figure out what I wanna do 😭
id take ap bio since the credit will be taken by more colleges
Alright
De if you stay in state AP if you go out
Alright
if ur at higher level in math then take de calc 1
But some people are telling me it’s fine while others are saying colleges won’t accept it
My brain is kind of fried in deciding what’s best
Gotta take pre calc next year 😭
What year you in
Fr
I’m in 10th grade
im taking precalc as a junior next year
precalc is de at my school
Me too
Taking pre calculus in senior year
😭
😂
i plan on staying instate i only take ap either because my school dosent offer a de alternative or gpa raise
Maybe world history if they offer it
Ohh that makes sense
my school dosent offer de statistics so im taking ap stats
I heard ap stats wasn’t too bad
2 math classes in 1 year wont be hard
i got teacher recommendation for that class
Ok atleast ik DE is better than Honors so really for my English course I simply have to decide if I’ll do DE COMP II or AP LIT
You’re doing stats and alg 2 rn?
stats and precalc next year
Ohhhh
sorry i worded it wrong
people tell me i should take ap stats as a senior but it honestly dosent seem that bad
Shouldn’t be too bad
ap stat apush and potentially ap lit shouldnt be too hard
i took regular english 9th and 10th grade so i may not be prepared for lit
Yeah me too
I’m trying to take ap Lang tho
Since lit isn’t there until senior year I think
people complain more about honors us history more than apush
Fr?
my school does lit before lanf
lang*
All I hear is the apush kids complaining in my ear 😭
Mine does lang before lit
Me too
I feel like doing lit first would’ve been easier to decide since I could switch to an easier course after
Makes sense
my school requires people to have an A in regular world history to do apush
I might ask my counselor to change my schedule but I feel bad for always asking her to change my stuff 😭
apush has a high fail rate because most people that take it arent that good at history
Are you in a public school?
Yeah
yes
Dang
Don’t your schedule is important to you and they understand that
Don’t feel bad* sorry
Yeah I guess so
ive already changed my schedule once already
I kinda felt the same way constantly talking to my counselor but you have to realize it’s pretty important for You
This my first year doing it
You’re right
Anyways ima head to bed
I have to get in touch with my counselor I have almost 1 month of school left for junior year
My sleep is important too 😏
i took way too easy classes sophomore year so im worrying about course rigor
1 month?!?!
Cya guys
Yeah I’m gettting less than 7 hours of sleep since I’ve been worried sick about my English course
Cya I’ll talk with my counselor tomorrow hopefully or sooon
same
Yeah you should
He’s kinda busy
Bro me too oml
I just get less sleep cause of social media 😔
I go to his office it’s locked and I can’t wait for a long time since I have to transition. For classes
Me to but mostly because of other things happening as well
I need help deciding whether I do dual enrollment English composition II or ap English literature composition
Me casually getting 6 hours of sleep as an 8th grader💀
thats not healthy tf what are u even doing to get that little sleep in middle school
Idk
I just don’t get sleepy until 2
I feel drowsy if i sleep more than 8 hours
dude actually pls get some sleep you’ll be staying up forcibly so much more if you’re taking hard classes later on
ive been stuck for like 40 minutes on one of my calc HW problems
I should
But i just can’t
I just wake up after like 6 hours
Soviet Onion are you able to help with this by any chance
u in FL?
for dual enrollment
Florida?
yeah idk about class names in other states but my dual enrollment english is also called english composition
Oh I’m not in Florida but we have a thing called DE COMP II and AP Lit
For English courses
huh
I wish I was good enough to even consider taking honors english
well idk i’m still a sophomore taking english II
and im only taking english comp 1 next year so
Should I take honors english? I barely qualified for the course next year.+I never read lol
Yeah and also it’s not a lot of reading I took English II H during sophomore it’s pretty easy
Hi, I need help deciding whether I do dual enrollment English composition II or ap English literature composition since people at my school are saying AP lit is hard but at the same I’m not sure if taking one dual enrollment class is affecting my college applications since someone said it might
Hmmm
Ok
I’ll give it a try and see how it goes
I just need a C to get qualified for honors sophomore english🗿
I am taking algebra 2 next year
but it might be possible to do it over the summer
should I?
yo
I just chose AP Seminar without actually knowing about it
I was thinking I could do some scientific research in the class
Am I wrong?
and what do you think about take ap calc without pre calc first
Like are you self studying precalc?
I wouldn't recommend skipping pre calc entirely, at most just take it in the summer
U should, u will use time efficiently and u will be ahead of class or wtv, or u could go to a harder class which is fun
Alg2 is an important class and it covers tons of stuff, it's probably not a good idea to do it over the summer, I'd only do it over the summer if u alr know most of the stuff and wanna take calc early
Hi, I need help deciding whether I do dual enrollment English composition II or ap English literature composition since people at my school are saying AP lit is hard but at the same I’m not sure if taking one dual enrollment class is affecting my college applications since someone said it might
I really want to take molecular biology, but the teacher sucks at my school and teach at all. Should I do it, and just self study with a textbook in class?
yes
Unfortunately the world doesnt revolve around him and that most probably wont happen so just deal with it I say
Im 18... current persuing diploma in electronics and telecommunication 3rd year....but i don't wanna continue engineering after completing my diploma....
I was interested in persuing arts after 10th grade... but ended up for diploma...but don't wanna continue any further....any suggestions for a different path other than engineering?
It'll affect ur apps, positively
Electronics and telecommunication is engineering?
There's like 100s of types of engineering
Its one of the course for diploma in engineering...in India..
By diploma, do you mean like a vocational course?
Like a bachelor's is also a diploma, so idrk what u mean 🤔
After 10th grade...u have option for either 11th n 12th grade then bachelor's n masters....or... direct diploma after 10th grade then bachelor's n masters...so i choose diploma after 10th grade
Now I don't wanna continue engineering for my bachelor's...n waan do something in arts like psychology n stuff...but i don't even know if its possible or not... but if it is...what choices do i have?
Well, based on general wisdom you can definitely do your master's in a different subject than your bachelor's and stuff, so you should be able to
But here in India....I've heard a lot of ppl say that its not possible to do bachelor's in a different field once u complete ur diploma in engineering...n its stressing me out real bad...
Dot dot dot
Well, like I said idrk about your system, I'd advise you to not generalise cus not everywhere in India is the same, but you probably aren't forced to do anything, you might need to give an equivalency exam for HS at most from what I'd think, that's how it works here
hi
👾
Ok so in a good way therefore, thanks
is stuco a good idea?
u think AP capstone is worth it
Does anyone know if I can take summer classes as a rising 9th grader? @wise forge
Is a 4.11 a good gpa to end off freshman yr
idk its not standaridzewd
As an honor or just the 2 APs?
? wdm as an honor
im just askin if its worth it
Wdym
The two classes are at the very least boosting your weighted gpa
im talking about AP Seminar, not research
How much is an ap and honors class worth at yotu school in terms of weighted gpa
cuz im not takin both i just wanna know if takin one is worth
That's not ap capstone then that's just ap seminar
oh
AP capstone is the whole program of both
ohh
Honors is regular ap is 5
Forget gpa, just say what classes you took atp
u didnt answer my question, is ap sem worth it
AP human
Algebra 2
9th honors lit
Honors bio
Spanish 2
Health/PE
Band
AP Psych
Idk about AP seminar much tbh, it also depends on u and the teacher who takes it, I've not really heard any good things about it tho
I wanted to take it but ngl it seems like a lot of busy work
so im prob not
think i alr asked this but is it worth taking ap world history as a freshman? ive heard that the teacher doesnt rlly teach and doesnt prepare u well for exams.
Does anyone know which associate degree is best to help me out for pre med school? AAS-Interest in Health, Education, & Wellness (Education, Social Work, Nursing, etc.) OR AAS-Interest in Science, Engineering & Tech (Mechanical Engineering, Computer Sci, Pre-Med, etc.) I was thinking about applying for the second program
guys ima freshman taking these classes
and im thinking of taking these next year
well ive been amazing my freshman year
ive managed to keep all 3 quarter grades above 97
ive
this is my 4th quarter and it IS going good
cool
but i wanted to take my SAT in my sophomore year
and idk if thats a good idea
also idk what to do this summer
increment your APs over time - there's no rush to take that many APs sophomore year
bro said SAT
your grades and course rigor is one part of your application; make sure to focus on other parts
💀
100%
whast stuco?
wrong person
"womp womp"
well i like this person
i took 5 this year so im bumping it up to 6 next year
then ill do 7 and 8 after
answering the right question, you can try taking your SAT towards the end of sophomore year if you feel comfortable with the math - the deepest you'll go is basic trig. English is really just down to practice
wth
lmaoooo yall
diff schools
next yr i can take MAX 1 lollll
its fine lol
that's fine - colleges take that into account
just do the highest rigor u can
yeah true
honestly thats such a better thing
but then theres people pulling up with
cause u dont need to worry about ur school having alot of aps
oh
by the end of hs
well
Is ap world history alright?
its fine
easily 50-60% of those credits are useless and those people barely have time to build good extracurriculars - it's a burden at that point
yep
her and i go to the same school and take the same classes
this wasnt my og acount
wut
mhm hopefully lol
colleges would much rather you do something useful in your spare time extracurricular wise rather than waste time taking massive amounts of APs or self-studying for exams that won't give you any credit
Clubs: Model UN, FBLA, Medical Club, Speech and Debate, NACLO, Chess Club, Art Club, Book Club, HOSA, etc. (theres a lot more lol)
Ur in all that??
i have fun yall dont worry
yall worry about not having enough time but i have my fun
If it works for you, it works. My point is this isn't average and the whole purpose of AP exams is to get college credit. Spending money and time on AP exams that serve no credit is not useful
I wasn't talking about enjoyment
damn girlie 😭
aps raise ur gpa
How’s this for freshman year?
Orchestra
English 1 H
Biology 1 H
Geometry H
AP World History
Latin 1
PE
yeah true
the issue is though my school work is really really rigorous already without aps so ;-;
most colleges will recalculate gpa in their own way since it's very different across states, counties, schools, etc.
but yes having a high course rigor is helpful
no doubt about it
The only other ap I can take as freshman is comp sci principles
yeah thats true but tbh i like the classes i chose regardless of if they were ap or not
ok
if its the hardest courses then its good
👍
seems rigorous enough
freshman year ur limited anyway
Wdym
leadership matters more than being in 218931982 clubs right
wdym
100 %
I mean, I could be in a higher class in math and science
oops
its fine
those seem good enough for freshman year
(I cant tho cuz of prerequisites)
base it off ur own pace and what you want lol
Ok
dont compare urself to others
may be the worst thing of academic achievers
💀
comparisons
Ok
👍
👍
What’s classes ru taking rn?
uh
??
bro 💀
your test is hella funny tho
rízz
i gotta lock in and stuffy for my rlzz test
Chemistry
AP Psychology
English 3 H
Chinese IB SL
AP US History
Business Management IB SL
AP Pre-Calculus
AP Micro (did outside)
i’m actually cooked
ap rízz
my rlzz x—>-inf
Nice
I am in quite a dillema
so my school lets me take AP Gov freshman year and I don't know if I should take it as it I have heard from people that it is a hard class and I am already taking AP Comp sci principles and AP Human geo
what is the answer to question 8 on ur test
take what u want
but ur classes seem fine
🤷♂️
i need the answer now 😡
alright ty
"womp womp"
is there baddies on reddit 💀
damn
w
guys would you take a college class over an ap?
easy
depends lmao
like AP psych or college psych
rail and bail 💀
womp womp
smh
what kinds of classes and extracurriculars look better on an application for a pre-med college track?
i mean i’d cure cancer but if your not into that i’m not sure
cure cancer
joke
volunteering for medical centers such as hospitals, passion projects for research blah blah
Courses for someone interested in both STEM (specifically mechanical engineering and math/physics) and business?
ap stats
ap calc
and once ur done with both ab and bc feel free to move on to mvc
Any good performing or visual arts for one year (UC Requirement)
Incoming Freshman
I could choose a pathway such as Engineering Honors, CS Essentials, Culinary, Law and Mock Trail, or Intro to Business
For me i’m doing 0 period choir to get over it asap
Which is the best out of these four: Ceramics 1, Digital Arts 1, Media Arts 1, and Guitar
It’s definitely up to your choice
But I think digital art might be the easiest
ok
😭😭😭
okkk thank youuu
Competitions, research, awards, non profits or startups, passion projects,
Volunteering is hard to get impact with and it's overdone
So r npos 😭
Which course is more fun AP Lang or AP Lit?
AP Lit
hows ap seminar
So are clubs
You can get impact with a non profit if you do something with it
I chose AP Eng Lit, AP Calc, AP Gov, and AP Spanish Lang. Should I replace AP Spanish Lang with a college now course or should I keep it
How many years of spanish will you have if you replace it
also, is the college now course DE, or smth else?
AP will be my fourth year
Yeah it’s like a city school thing where they offer programs that are the equivalent of a DE college course
Then it should be fine to switch, I'd take the one you're more interested in
Colleges usually weigh DE equivalent to APs
Thing is there isn’t really a DE course I want to take
Most of the classes they offer are English based or business
Like I said, take the one you're more interested in, it literally doesn't matter for apps or anything if it's on the same level
If you don't like the DE options just go with the tried and true Spanish Lang
ghost ping is real
How many aps do I need to take each year of hs to get into Ivy
Please ping me or I won’t see the messages, thanks!
@viral pebble the amount of APs is based on how much your school offers. Take as much as you can. Colleges want to see that you can challenge yourself as much as possible based on your school background. They will not penalize you if you school does not offer as much APs as other schools
So I should take all 20 aps my school offers @old rain
Your school offers 20 APs?
Ye
Take as many as you want
Some students want to take so many
But then they don’t perform well
How many is good for Ivy
There isn’t a specific number
But based on your school
10-15
This won’t guarantee to get you into an Ivy but it would be good if you can take this much APs to challenge yourself
Whatever APs you want is up to you
Anybody have any ideas for a good course plan for TJHSST Freshman
everyone’s talking like they are guaranteed to get into ivies…
So my plan for next year is to take AP human geography, all honors, and then my elective will be Spanish and I’ll be doing ASB as a 7th period if possibleeee uhhhh
Uh does that sound like good
Freshman btw
wym does that sound like freshman
💀
theres no set "freshman" sterotype for courses lmao
help what should i do with my life
have fun
Wait sorry
I meant to say does it sound good😭
And then I’m a freshman bye
Btw
Whoopsies
is ap precalc ap csp ap world and ap bio managable for a sophomore and still have time for ECs
yea
Run a marathon
what classes would i need to take for cs?
AP comp sci,Calc,Stat,Physics
Yeah def take physics e&m and any other comp sci classes offered at your school with the max math you can take
fun fact: our district got rid of AP comp sci
there's only 'computer programming' course offered at a separate building
but not AP
next year ill be a sophomore and im taking
english 10 lycuem
algebra 2 honors
acp chemistry
ap world history
Spanish 3
principals of criminal justice
avid
if theres anyone who has passed, taken, or is taking the class and has advice in general for the courses that would be appreciated
im just wondering how hard they will be and what i should expect from them since next year will be my first year taking harder classes
idk if it matters but im in the US so classes may be differnent depending on country
LMAOOOOOOOO
practice at least 20 mins for chem
how hard is ap physics c
It depends bc my brother said ap chem was harder than ap phys c
Chemistry is always harder than Physics, I reckon
Depends per person, that's for you 🤔
Yeah it is for me
You should take only what you can manage
Dont bite more than what you can chew
Would rather have less AP classes with all 5s rather than 20 ap classes with low ap exam scores
I have the option to take AP calc BC next year, or I can take Calc 1/2 at a local college, which would be better?
But they don’t ask exam scores
not tryna go to another country for college ;-;
like Calc 1 and 2 or like half of calculus ?
Cuz i’d def take the one going to college
Calc 1 and Calc 2
then that
Yeah for ivies
if your not tryna go then you don’t gotta have like 50 ecs and cure cancer
I mean it’s not THAT hard
but yeah
i’d love colleges if they only cared about acadaemics
cuz those are easy to bring up
i ain’t tryna get stabbed tho nor am i tryna go to a different country
i would if i lived in britain
do u live in britain
o
i hate college admissions here
Go to switzerland and don’t come back
people be acting like US is heaven or smth
Bro honestly and the essays it’s so annoying
oh yeah true it is higher
