Will my other classes make up for that?

i do want to say, it's fine to start something for an olympiad sake, but the people that are truly successful at the highest level, from what i've heard, actually enjoy doing it, and crave it- i'm overstating slightly, but they enjoy the challenges they pose and actually look forward to doing them rather than doing it as a chore

the latter of which is what 99% of all competitors do

and the latter also being the ones that don't succeed at the highest level

this is my own personal rant here, but i really used to want to go to an ivy, i didnt really care which one, but ive learned that the ivy leauge is just really prestigious bullshit. youre going for the brand name because the system cares a lot about brand names. with like TOK and CAS and your IA's

and their idea of education is alot more holistic

from what ive heard, ib is actual hell

if you want to have a life outside of school, it is easier to do with ap classes since you can choose which ap classes you want to do

not saying it wont be easy

but it will be easier than ib

our first 2 years are our pre-ib years where we have like pre-ib biology for instance in preperation for ib

i would assume its like the equivalent of honors classes or potentially harder (idk)
