what classes did everyone take their freshman year
yo chat im prolly gonna self study macro micro next year
but can I self study ap chem
cuz Im taking honors chem rn
and it’s lowkey fine but ap chem is apparently hard so like 💀
what do you think gohar took 😂
He took 1 AP iirc
Cus he begged his counselor for it
💀
I heading into soph year. What of the three is the easiest: bio 11, chem 11, or physics 11?
why do you wanna self study
bio i think
personally
can’t fit it into my schedule cuz my school is pretty dumb and they only allow like 3 aps a year
prob don’t self study ap cchem
yeah that’s I was thinking tbh💀
unless u have like a 95+ in the class i’m in honors rn it’s light so i’m taking ap chem next yr
ima just take it in school
yeah I would but apparently physics is better for cs/finance
idk both pretty unrelated to your major lol
yeah but there’s not really much for those majors anyway
I mean yeah there’s ap cs and ap macromicro but besides that’s there’s nothing
my school offers like 0 extra things for those majors tho it’s like we have normal macro micro and that’s it
we got apcsp, ap cs A, game design and development, cybersecurity, computer tech and more
dang bruh
yeah too bad i’m not majoring in cs
we have both ap cs and then one class after called coding for a purpose where you make a website 💀
what are you majoring in
I see
that sounds like a summer camp not a school class
I am about to say quite possibly the stupidest thing ever on this server but I want to take 11 AP exams my senior year. Including, AP Chem, Bio, Physics C Mechanics, Physics 1, APUSH, World, Comp Sci A, Spanish language and culture, Psych, Calc BC and AP Us Gov. I am ready for whatever comes my way and I don’t mind studying all day. Should I start studying in the summer of this year? I really want this
So a few things
Do you have any sports
do you have any other commitments
does your school let you 💀
Do you have a good history of APs
Do you want to enjoy senior year
If your answers arent
No
No
Yes
Yes
Yes
any other combo, then scale it way back to 5
also relevant APs to major > stacking
what the hell
umm
if ur motivated
then u could do it
No sports, no real commitments other than what every high schooler does and some quick after school stuff occasionally. My school will let me and I’m currently taking 7 ap tests this year that im confident about. I really don’t care if I “enjoy” senior year or not
Well if the goal is college admissions it wont even help without major ECs..
ok well if ur gonna take 11 study really hard. not guranteed for all those creidts if u dont get 3 and higher
i also think more ecs are better than a handful of aps
but
spamming APs isnt some college cheat code if thats the goal of doing 11
do whatever floats in ur boat ig
also especially if some are completely irrelevant… i just dont see a point of spamming APs
Alright ill consider. Thanks
Are those gonna go on your transcripts?
Even if you do them through your school, you probably want to make sure of that
I don’t know. I think it just applies to the ap’s im not self studying
Yeah
So why are you self studying them
Colleges know the difference between AP courses and AP exams
why bro 💀
ok dude so if ur going for the academic approach idk if you need 20
Like what some people do is like get a 4.0 uw and a crap ton of 5s
And then a bunch of random academic awards
but 20 is overkill dude ur better off studying for random olympiads or something idk
Shouldn’t you keep a balance on both APs and extracurriculars?
AP tests won't even help your app
It's just courses
Yeah they don't help it any considerable amount
It’s just better to take those that are helpful to you
And then take extracurriculars which are also helpful to you
It's best to take an AP exam if you'll use the credit, AP classes ofc
Eh
That's really not true if you are targeting a T20 or even a T50 uni
But yeah, sure for the rest
I meant like don’t take like a million sports if you’re going to do comp Sci or something
You can still take sports
And anything else
But also try to find something that actually helps you in your future field
Like maybe an internship
do colleges actually care if you do orchestra/band/chorus in hs cuz people say "oh it looks good on ur college app if u do a performing arts class" but i feel like teachers just say that so u can stay in their class
im going to a performing arts hs for piano so i have the performing arts credit anyways
wat the foock
ty 😭
rando thing why you saying take sports
but sports are a thing that a lot of people like reguardless of major
Depends but it's a filler EC at most
it’s a filler unless you do something with it tho
bc it’s a filler to just do classes and call it a day but it’s not a filler to be in an honor band or state wide band
I’m saying an example
why tf would you do that
some of those i understand but why spanish?
also I got a question so Im trying to self study pre calc and take calc AB next year in 10th grade, but they're very hesistant to let me do it so they might make me take APpre cal instead. if thats the case, i figured I would take AP precalc for the weighted gpa boost but not pay for the exam bc thats a waste of time and money. Good idea or no?
since i will take calc in 11th grade anyway there is no need for the ap pre calc college credit which probably wouldnt even give credit anyway
Yeah AP precalc credit is useless
And yeah, if your school is fine with you not taking an AP exam, and you're sure you won't need the credit, don't take it
I’m a sophomore with an A in level 1 chem should I make the jump to ap physics 1 next year or just honors physics , I haven’t taken algebra 2/trig
I’ve never taken ap yet next year I will be taking 2 maybe 3 with physics but not sure that much about the class
U need alg 2 and trig for ap physics 1
Uh oh
You can try
But it’s gonna be a real struggle
Since it’s your first AP
Is AP Spanish Lit. worth taking after Spanish Lang?
ap physics 1 is a difficult class
it's not about crunching numbers
Chunching?
but tests your critical thinking and moreso about conceptualizing the concepts
Who the hell is chunching numbers?
im at the last unit of ap physics 1 and it's hard
wait a minute, but I'm taking ap physics 1 for my sophmore year
should i do ap chem or ap physics 1 for senior (i’m taking ap bio junior)
what do yall think about my course plan?
Don’t you need precalc for calc?
My school has honors algebra 2 teach you both algebra and pre cal
Oh ok
If u can then maybe calc bc on junior year?
Why though?
Maybe you could fit only ap stat on 12th
And have another elective
Seniors at my school told me ap stats is easy and I should take both stats and cal bc
Yeah but imo i don’t think calc AB is that necessary
Unless your school requires AB before BC
I think ap cal ab is required before bc at my school
Do what you prefer
chem but which one is harder
honestly my preference between them is minimal
Differs but most says physics 1
ok
Chem is objectively a harder class, (i don’t think so) but i heard the physics ap exam is tough
i can speak for my perspective with physics
i am a math nerd (yes im very confident with me being a nerd, cry about it), yet im struggling in physics 1
physics 1 is all about conceptualizing the topics and come up with reasoning on why this does that, rather than crunching numbers
example question can be like: given a pendulum with a string length L, now give another pendulum with a string 9 times longer than L, how much faster is the 2nd pendulum's period than to the 1st (randomly made this lol)
answer if ur curious: ||the second pendulum's period is 3 times more than the first||
you need to fully understand how it does that and how to use the formulas as well since it is algebra based.
physics c however is more crunching numbers because most physics involves calculus, so generally physics c is slightly easier than physics 1 (if u know what ur doing)
Why PE as a senior?
That’s a waste of time senior year
I’d say get it over with in freshman year
Hi I have a question about science classes, I'm thinking about getting into robotics in the future. Should I take intro physics, cwu physics, Ap physics OR uw chem, physics, Ap physics? Freshmen year was biology (required).
Guysss
I need advice
I need a high paying major that is AI proof and can be done remotely and is growing
Me 2
ATAR wise, should I choose Physics over Chinese?
Physics scales higher and so does Japanese
Why are u worrying about atar aren't u year 10
I am Year 10, but you know what PLP is?
It's a class where we literally have to map out our future 😭
So like future subjects, careers, etc
Yeah
To try and prepare
is it bad if I plan to take Bio, Chem and Physics in year 12
year 10 and 11 makes u ready for yr 12
What your atar goal bro
Sorry
top 10 in my state so around 99+
school year just started
Sacs then
Test
last year I was straight a's tho?
Can u answer the question
which?
Are you even oce?
oce?
around 96
yeah
Australia
What subjects do u take rn
English
C4E Maths (basically Harder version of pre methods)
PLP
Science
Outdoor Rec
Design
Planning to switch Outdoor rec to chinese next semester tho
Tf is outdoor rec
The full name is 'Intergrated Learning Outdoor Recreation'
Basically PE, I was forced into it, it sucks,
But it's practically a free A
If you really dedicated which I assume u are do chemistry physics specialist math and another form of math
And do higher scaled English class
And do whatever language your school teaches because it will scale high asf
yeah
I was thinking
Spec maths
Methods
Chem
Bio
English Literary Studies (Highest english)
[and one more either physics or chinese]
you don't have to do methods along with specs?
Do both
That's what it's like at my school unfortunately
I take spes outside of school
oh ok
2 maths scales higher
Biology is easy but a lot of key terms and content
I don't do physics
yeah so true
Do u have the time to study that much ?
If your aiming towards 99+
That means you literally have to get like 100s on all sacs and exams across
Atar is also scaled by rankings
I think I do
I don't have that much extracurricular activities and whatnot
would an A- or A effect an ATAR a lot compared to an A+?
90ish I think?
Okay lemme explain how it kinda scales
If u get all 80s u gonna get a atar around 80+ if your going to get 90s your aiming towards 95+
but won't scaling change it?
yeah. I know some of it
year 10 subjects don't affect your atar tho
If u get 90s across it will prob be a atar for 80 because pe scales it down
Nah
Only yr 12 is when shit gets serious
why does it scale down
oh it's because it's easier, right?
because spec scales up a lot
because it's really hard
Ye sort of like that
okk
Harder the subject the higher it will scale
how do you determine how hard a subject is
Because it's a demanding subject for future jobs
according to my teacher, those are inaccurate
Use the Victoria one
like how do you decide if bio or chem is harder? etc
is it similar across the states?
because I don't live in or anywhere near victoria
Where do u live
Chem scales higher
I put in the subjects
99.95
If u get all 90s
oh wow
yeah
Realistic how much do u think u going to get on yr 12 test
uh
Because the level jumps high asf
I just started high school so..
85?
well probably less because year 12 is like 50x more difficult compared to year 11
Year 11 gives small taste of yr 12
That make u write a lot of shit
So u can keep up in yr 12
That's why I recommend a laptop
Well ima go to sleep
Atar of 89
my PLP teacher says literally the opposite
hm
but I'll see how I go this year
sleep well
that’s amazing wow
That was a theoretical ATAR calculated using an ATAR calculator
Someone helpppp
do guys recommend ap calc or ap stats for comp sci?
which is more useful
i havent done calc ab yet
Ap calc
For sure
Cause they’re going to make you take calc classes so that’ll help get them waived
when u take the class
The calc credit will be actively useful yeah
yall is ap stat online easy or not 😭
stats is easy in general
yeah but like im worried cs its online
Should I take AP euro or AP world next year?
Cause Im too good
world
am i muted or what
is it good to take one science class and go to the hardest level or take different classes?
what are you taking for science then 🗿
so the hardest level would be ap right
yea
probably hardest science
yea i wouldn't trust myself either lmao
You can double but don't double AP
why
what does double ap mean
have your ap classes match your interests and ecs
paint a picture of who you are with all parts of your applications
pretty sure this was addressed at some point in the dartmouth admissions podcast
take 2 of the same ap like maybe one as a elective and one as a requried
like ap pre calc and ap stats is a example my friend is doing that
next yr
Now that's wut everyone should do
should I take ap seminar instead of ela 10 next year?
bene told colleges don’t look at that and it’s not worth the workload but I mess w the gpa boost
they look at seminar?
im p sure like
no colleges give credit for it
unless I’m wrong
Guys should I take comparative gov in junior
Because I’m also taking ap lit and ap econ micro and macro combined
i am in India. i want to do my ug, and pg in US. is it good
US does have the most prestigious universities in the world
Idk how ur system does it but we take it in 8th grade
So as early as possible would be my guess
Hey, I'm a 7th grader and I was wondering what can middle schoolers do in their time to start early for college. I am very good at math.
No real point in spamming your messages over 4 channels imo
It depends which college you want to go to
If you are that confident in your abilities, and believe that you can get scholarships, for most careers I suggest you study abroad, away from the Americas
Nah i want to get into mit
Does your school currently offer physics to year 7's
What are honor classes i'm not american
There is just science, math, ela, and social studies
What does "good at math" mean to you?
I can do calculus
Just do hella math competitions
All of calculus?
why would that even matter tho
i dont get people
what
he said he may want to become an engineer
and doing physics in middle school would help>
so an employer is gonna be like:
You did a physics course in 7th grade
Let's hire you
...
or that will give him helpful info
if it offers physics for year 7
then it will probably offer for the following years
he needs a foundation for college
or uni
People in most american countries switch schools after middle school
ok
who told you that
wow its almost like highschool and middleschool arent the same
Wow it's almost as if that isn't like that everywhere in the world
Give me your personal decision on this: Law or Engineering?
Neither I'd choose cs
I'd honestly like a mix of cs and enginnering.
What is engineering to you
Software Development is like engineering already
Also if you're that divided, why are those the only options
Blud im in 7th.
Why not consider scientific research
💀
Gimme a break.
Lil bro calls me blud
You're 13 or older
No breaks given
You do know there are mod logs right
Context: he said he was 12 and deleted his message
Need help with course selection
so I'm going into high school next year
and I got into an Academy for Medicine/Science, and some form of a STEM Academy
I don't know where I wanna go
Like high schools?
yeah
Magnet school or similar?
Yeah exactly it is a magnet school
just better 🙂
I can give a course description if that helps
Yup well that'd probably help
What do you want to do though, have you chosen a career path or college major yet
like the schedule or all the courses description
something focusing Medicine
BUT
Commute is 30 minutes every day
vs STEM which is 1 minute
I did an hour a day both ways from prep to 5th grade and we couldnt and still can't carry phones
I wouldn't recommend you to choose based on that
Well, how much more or less detail does medicine go into
People generally don't care much about your high school, including colleges, which only really care about your curriculum and grades, besides ECs and essays and what not
basic autopsies, diseases, body systems
they also show basic nurse skills to but idk what that means
So a practical course?
Well, are you planning on applying to unis mainly in state?
yes I am
but also some reach schools outside of state
like Brown, Columbia, Harvard, Oxford
So it's probably a good idea to choose the school whose courses interest you the most
For ivies, and specially British universities, it's probably ideal to get math until calculus since that shows rigor, but it's really not necessary, and the Medicene school would probably have calculus too
I like the medicine academy better
but if I am being completely honest
there's also a chance that I move
and the downside of that is that only the STEM academy gives an honors bio course over summer to prepare us for AP bio freshman year
So just in case I move, I feel like I'm obligated to take the STEM academy as a safety
Well, which has more APs?
both have equal
(Not something you should decide based on)
yeah I was gonna say
but either way
I could drop out of the STEM Academy to return to regular
BUT In that case it's pointless even going
Well, no matter which one you choose, that doesn't really close any doors in terms of your degree and career, so imo you should just choose what you're most interested in right now
Ofc, do research into Medicene careers and whether they're right for you, considering the STEM is quite a bit broader and might give you more useful college credit if you decide not to go into medicine, and it might feel like your high school years were wasted if you go to the medicine school but choose a different major, but at the end of the day, it doesn't really close any doors for you

Would a lower grade in a higher class look better than a higher grade in a lower class?
Eg, an A in methods or a b/c in specs
I have the same question! Choosing next years hs classes rn and don’t know what to do yet
umm pretty sure lower grade in a higher class
but it casnt be lower than a a-
why would you want anyone's opinion but your own for your career path
bc they dont know
if your a mun debate kid go law
Hi, should I take 6 aps or 5 aps with 1 honors elective thats related to my major. My gpa is bad and i need to raise it, but at the same time if i took the elective, i would have advanced my knowledge in my career.
and how would anyone else know?
they could give a opinon on what they should choose
🤦♂️
plus i think hes asking what woudl you choose
yeah but its a dumb question
why would you listen to some stranger's life advice
on career path
when they dont know you or what you like
their not even asking that
I’m not sure of a course
what are they asking then
what would you choose personally
Like I’m considering applying for a diploma in creative industries but they have electives that have their own diplomas
what so what do you wanna major in
@Everyone, what is your favorite/the best branch of engineering
Can I Major in aerospace w out taking an engineering class or pathway
the engineering classes are just elective's so it's optional and i don't think you get credit for it
so idk
Alr
idk atm
just wanting to explore what I could possibly do
wait what was atm
at the moment
honestly engineering is the top
i mean the best paying jobs all require good math
my course schedule for next year (h precalc is supposed to be AP calc bc) give tips please
Yeah, that’s what I’m doing
yo, I absolutely LOVE everything related to math, engineering, and robotics (mainly robotics tho). Tmmr I get to sit one on one with my future high school consoler to set in stone my final 9th grade classes. I'm taking the hardest classes, 2 AP's, 3 Honors, etc. And I want to see if you guys have any questions that you think I should ask them tomorrow? Thanks!!
What exactly ru taking
like what type of questions should I be asking
in general
nvm ill just see what she thinks of my classes
some highschools wont let you do this btw
unless you recieve special permission which is very rare
my hs is "special". aka they have programs specificaly to do this type of thing. for whatever reason their ap capstone diploma requires 6 ap's to get.
ur cooked
💀
can ppl stop saying im cooked and give advice
ap classes arent hard i just want to know what to expect from each class from people who have taken them
bro what
u literally are cooked
😭
okay so
this mindset
"ap classes arent hard" they definitely are its literally called "advanced placement"
ur taking an AP language
APUSH which is one of the lowest passing tests
ap lang is pretty difficult in itself
ap chem is notoriously hard
calc bc is def hard
physics is algebra based
from this its pretty obvious the workload and everything you need to manage
theres really no advice needed to be given its pretty clear
furthermore, you can research them urself or check college board
Going into 11th grade Highschool, any suggestions or recommended classes I should take.
Here is what I plan on taking:
0.) Ap Per Calculus
1.) Ap Environmental Science
2.) Honors American Studies
3.) Honors Social Studies
4.) Band
5.) Psychology
6.) World Religions
well balanced 👍
no english?
That’s what American Studies is. It’s a combination of English and History.
Thank you for the help!
most aren’t but like that schedule 💀
nah id say at least 85% of aps are pretty difficult
im not talking abt individuals its literally just a difficult class
maybe if someone has a higher intelligence or IQ its easier FOR THEM
nah imo just put in the work and ur fine
i’m taking like 3 easy aps
then like 2 hard ones
next yr
but yeah that person is cooked medium rare 😭
yeah put in the work but also applying concepts at a higher level
and it depends on the school and teachers
true
there is a transparent yellow bar, that goes from up to down. Optical Illusion
Does anyone here have any experience with mechatronics engineering?
precalculus is in general super easy, honors is not that different. ap lang is also easy as hell from what i heard, my friend took a nap mid exam and still got a 5, ap physics 1 also easy as hell my only mistake was self studying and procrastinating so i learned the entire syllabus the week and a half before the exam so i got a 4 💀
AP chem isn’t actually that bad as long as you actually pay attention
the concepts aren’t hard conceptually it’s just that there’s a lot sometimes
oops i missed the ap calc bc note calc bc is super fine too
APUSH i didn’t take but my friends all found it easy
AP spanish would be like the only one i don’t know about
if you want to speak as to a high level academic student this is what me and others have noticed
💀
This perception is extremely inaccurate as teachers have diff levels of difficulty
As well as expectations of peers around him and school
Essentially ur saying all of its pretty easy which is a huge misconception
well if this person is insistent on saying that they are just superior then they aren’t going to actually listen to anything are they
i’m sure it is
opinions eh
instead of calling out someone, it would be much better to lay out your own opinion imo
real
people may see a certain topic easier than other people
i personally think math is easy
yet people also struggle in math
so yeah
real saying my opinion is definitely wrong is lowkey like saying “you can’t think those courses are easy because i think they’re hard”
hey, lets not carry this on
I didnt say its definitely wrong i said misconception but aight
i’m just a girl
💀💀
🎀
the best opinion that you're going to get for an AP will be from someone who's already taken it in your own school with the same teacher, but at the end of the day, even outlying opinions can help one form an opinion of something
this
Nah cause then ppl think the class is easy if someone says it is
which in reality is difficult
But ok
Anyways, like I said, no point in continuing this argument
then ask multiple people
for multiple opinions
🥸
let's not carry this on, this is course selection channel
and its about courses
Sooo
💀
so funny reactions wow!!!
yes
Unless u can handle it
Pretty simple explanation
💀 ok real
Hey, course registrations are due in the next week
- AP langcomp (rec but not yet approved)
- AP stats (rec but takes one elective)
- IM3
- science 10
- US history in global context (don't wanna do the ap alternative for this T^T)
- French intermediate high
if ap stats don't go through then electives will be - theatre 1 first choice (what stats would replace)
- chamber choir second choice
- advanced design and engineering third choice
Oh btw this is for grade 10... is it ok or would it be too much esp with two maths
Very cool
do apush trust
Bro everyone in the grade above me is complaining about how much work they put in for little result
I'd love to but history is not... my strong suit in the first place
would ap langcomp and ap stats make up for it
how hardi s AP really
because my school is scaring the hell out of students
we r limited to 3 aps each year
idk but apush is college freshman level at my school
they're just a bit higher level courses really
most APs (besides like CSP and Precalc) are college freshman level https://cdn.discordapp.com/emojis/1171505591454285864.webp?size=64
or at least a semester of college freshman
do u guys think that Orchestra is a good idea to continue through hs?
if you enjoy it
no
its a graduate integrated in an undergrad basically
Phew
Then I didn't make a mistake while filling out my form
Thanks
my school doesnt offer ap classes so would doing aice plus dual enrollment make up for that
the schools im aiming for accept my local colleges credits so im not worried about that
erm depends
coding or nah
depends on what?
I think youll most likely be using Java, which imo is nice and baby compared to other coding languages, but the overload in work will mostly come from trial and error of having to fix code ~ TL;DR: if you like problem solving, dewit AT YOOUR OWN RISK
this is the course discription
that portfolio part
idk
the exam portfolio will be your other load, but if you think you can handle it, go with your gut
that's why i rather do Dual enrollment
which is much easy
is animal science possibly the only class i can take in HS if i wanna do small animal vet...?
tryna figure out courses to take if i can change my courses i picked already
for future vet
Now a question, do you recommend doing algebra? I'm asking this question cuz I'm not sure but want to do algebra next year?
(Btw I'm in middle school)
Should I take pre-cal or ap stats
ofc 💀
ap pre calc if u can
in my school ap pre calc is only for juniors
i could take the exam tho
just take ap stats then
I found out today I can take Geometry and Algebra 2 at the same time at my school somehow, has any1 ever done this? Is it hard? Should I do it?
Lemme know anytime ofc
Hella light
also, hows it work if i do them at the same time, i hear from others you have geometry stuff in algebra 2
Wait yalls districts have a restriction on ap courses???
my district has 40 of the ap courses and lets us do wtv we want
also btw do u think its a good idea to have a break year in between ap pre calc (gonna take in 10th) and calc bc?
Im trying to take less heavy courses in 11th to be able to hv enough time to prep for SAT and/or ACT
Available until 10 or so PM CDT
To respond
im thinking abt doing AP stat instead in 11th
I mean it depends tbh. What grade r u in and do u want to take AP Calc?
bc if u havent taken Algebra 1 in eighth grade then I would recommend to double it in 10th grade to get on track for Calc
But a lot of the things they teach u in Geometry is sort of a build up to Algebra 2
But maybe they have geometry a bit different in high school than they do if you take it in middle school?
I took geometry in ms
It kind of changes on your district. Do they expect ppl to double up in 10th grade to get the calc?
in my district they do change curic. a bit to help the kids who double up
8th, making sched, for 9th
a lot of ppl in my grade took geometry in 7th (mostly my friends who flex a lot)
but honestly the double up thing is smth u should ask a hs counselor
Huh.. thats weird lol
This year they took algebra 1
..im very confused what
I get that a lot lol
Geometry b4 algebra??
yeah
Like 10th grade geometry
Idk tbh
Algebra 2?
Huh
Probably
Prolly
lol yeah. Is it like selective where u have to take a acceleration test or smth where its a class u can pick
It was an acceleration test we took in 6th grade
If you knew all the 7th grade stuff before 7th grade they through u in geometry
Should I take AP Lit, or should I be an office aide? I don't really want to take Lit, but I will if it'll look better to colleges. I'm already taking Creative Writing, so I'll be taking both Lit and Creative Writing. Creative writing is just a regular class. I want to go into either law or CS (I'm a freshman, so I'm not completely sure yet. Tryna take classes that will let me go either way)
Also, taking three AP classes next year when I'm a sophomore. Is that too little if I want to go to an Ivy?
Should I take AP Spanish Lit. after AP Spanish Lang?
help meeee
If you want to
def not
its much better to do calc when u have recently learned the skills
Pretty much like other AP’s so yeah
does anybody have college level classes in law^
?
im trying to learn what its like
if you do know could u dm me plz
thanks
Check dms @dapper sail
no
if i dont do any AP or IB classes instead do some college courses from coursera or harvard or etc etc; will my chances of gettting in be the same or will it slim down?
informal courses from coursera or MOOCs are generally not as good considering they wouldn't go on your transcript, but if you dont want to do APs, Dual enrollment is always a good option
My school or any school in my state doesnt do AP or IB classes at all
what should i do?
any source from where i can do dual enrollment in india?
Oh you're an international https://cdn.discordapp.com/emojis/1171505591454285864.webp?size=64
that's a totally different matter
You just need to worry about ECs
don't even waste time on worrying about that stuff, DE doesn't exist in India in any case
u sure? the lack of AP/IB wont effect alot right?
well ecs are fine wont get into it but this part of academics is what was bothering me
should i take ap csp in 9th grade? i major businness and econ in the future
AP CSP is an extremely easy class in most schools
AP Lang
Honors Pre Calculus
AP Chem
AP Physics
APUSH
Wind Ensemble
Jazz Band
Is this challenging enough for someone who wants to go into the field of STEM as well as music? I’m not sure what classes I should be taking my junior year.
sure, yeah
do you have ap precalc available btw? its not much harder than the honors class
No it’s not offered in my district
I can probably register it even though I’m not in the class
Will doing AP CSP be bad for college in 9th grade
Or should I just skip
To CSA
Idrk what to do
why would it be bad
Bc it would@be too easy or idk I’m new to this
I definetely recommend AP CSA over it, you wont get a credit for it, but it still looks good on apps
take both if you can
colleges dont generally care about how easy an AP is
I can take both but the problem is I might be overworked
Oh ok
Bc I’m also taking AP human
if you can take another AP, take another one, not a CS One
it just doesnt make sense to do two CS APs in one year
Alr
So just stick with CSP and human
For 9th
it might be hard because:
- The teacher teaches it badly.
- They might not have any backgrund in programming and just find it hard.
Writing code on paper isn't particularly enjoyable either.
Not for CSP for human
Oh
Yea it isn’t
I tried it
HuG too, it can be hard if the teacher is bad
Yea
No
just take CS A instead of HuG then
I can only take 2 APs
Yea but I also kind of want a challenge bc then it will help me get better study techniques and stuff
Yea I did
I put CSA as an alternate
they either assign a lot of work or dont teach it well
Like 1st pick
just dont take it
Tysm!!
Alr
grades as a number are more important at the end of the day, you wanna focus on ECs
Ok
HuG is usually an easy AP too
so there's no point in taking it if your teacher sucks
Yea true
Hmmmm
Ok Ty for the help
What are the easiest AP courses to take for 9th grade? (Can take as many AP courses as I want)
Need to have my picks for hs courses in soon and I just started LOL
HuG, APES, CSP are some of the easiest APs from what I've seen
Is CSP a good course to pick even though you don’t really know comp. sci?
Yes
CSP isn't even any programming at all
Oh okk tyty 🙂
Is dual credit a good idea even tho ur planning to go out of state for college?
It does look good on apps, you might not get credit in some cases tho
My school encourages 9th graders to do AP Seminar or Psych.. is it easy? I don’t really understand what’s the goal of the courses lol 😭.
Seminar is pretty easy, psych too
Psych is just a psychology course
Seminar is basically making a project and learning how to present it and stff i think
Is it a good idea to skip AP calculus AB and go straight to AP calculus BC.
if ur good at math why not
are honors classes or AP classes worth more credit- (I’m trying to decide between Honors English and AP Mandarin)
AP.
Does anyone know if mechanical engineering is a good choice?
BC is just AB with slightly more material. If your school requires AB for BC, they may teach BC weirdly, but in all other cases, BC is just AB but slightly harder
Ok thanks
thank you 👍
Yo ur a freshman?
yeah it’s def not a prereq and they’re very similar
Yeaa fr /j
Question I’m a junior rn and I was wondering should I take pre calc or just straight calc senior year (didn’t take precalc bc my school required me to take honors algebra2 this year.)
Go straight to calc
No reason to do precalc as a senior
you literally did it to me 😭
having trouble deciding courses for freshman year here- instead of taking 10th lit honors, my school offers ap seminar. i'm not really sure about that and ap gov (government isnt my strong suit, considering js taking 0.5 on level gov sem 1 and 0.5 on level econ sem 2)
however, i want to go on a more science/medical based pathway, so should i js stick to the basic ones for both
😭true prob should study over summer then
i would take aps
girl
how do you know if u havent taken a ap class in ur life
same for this too 😭 why u giving advice on sutff u havent taken
who hasnt taken a single ap 😭
i totally understand ur intent to be helpful but lets not give advnice on stuff we have no diea what were taking about
not having personal experience doesn't automatically equal having no clue
like yes ofc the people who have taken those classes will be a more credible source, but they could have friends who have done the classes, they could have researched it thoroughly for themselves, heck even could've quoted smth from google or something- secondary sources are still sources
like if u disagree with what someone saying and think u know better/can give better advice, this chat is open to everyone for a reason! But if not, then dw abt it it's really not that huge
What classes should I take if I wanna become a small animal vet or selling fishing gear for kayak fishing etc? Or is there rlly only classes for the vet part?
if ur looking into selling stuff, any marketing electives could help- I'm currently in LEAP which is a mix of ela and marketing, so go for that or something similar if ur school offers it
look at ur schools website and try to find a CTE and an elective section- they'll usually be listed under there
Oh ok ty
"Biology, math, animal science, environmental science, chemistry for small animal vet
business or marketing, environmental science, economics for the fishing industry selling stuff or conservation" tis sound good to check out to see if my school offers these?
Maybe engineering or tech
yeah, those sound great!
You probably won't need engineering/tech unless you plan on actually making the gear, but the rest are perfect
Oh ok sounds good I'll talk to my school counselor and hope it ain't too late to change my plans going back to school in a week tho uhh it should be fine ig
good luck!
Ty
i get ur pov but especially if this is a opinon based question on weather someone should take teh course it should be from soeone who atleast took the course

like i am not gonna give a sophmore advice on weather to take calcus of not
and for thsse courses u cant really research either bc it varies though school
especailyl whrre they asked for the easiest ap courses that is a opinion based qeustion i dont see how he can answer that if he hasnt taken a single ap
and this scenario is similar to if i gave advice in college app help and ik u wouldnt say the same there either
understandable! Reputations for each class tend to be pretty well known though, and a lot of things can be inferred
also, at the end of the day, its up to the person asking for advice to decide who they want to take it from- to each their own tho imo, I see your point as well, I just don't see why there was a need to invalidate their response entirely
also btw, I would absolutely say the same if u gave advice in college app help- I personally have done a shit ton of research and spoken to a lot of people for their advice on colleges/getting into colleges, so I'm not about to presume an immediate lack of knowledge coming from anyone- again, of course those who have experienced it for themsevles will be more credible, but that's not to invalidate those who have done their work/are trying to help. I've found that if someone is saying something incorrect or not optimal in this server, they usually get corrected!
agreed but if he could tell the person he has never taken a ap it would help mpre
yup, I agree with u there
cus not everyone is gonna click the region thingy on his profile/ know that aps are only in the us
gl!
good luck~
Keep you guys posted here?
I’m taking intro to research which is dual enrollment class a local university be considered a hard course? This course will be my junior year.
What can I do to counteract low chemistry and math grades from freshman and sophomore year
Ok
Just ok
I have no other words for you and don't want to argue ok?
hopefully i dont forgot by the time spring break ends
dont want too eiteher
What? No its just you were talking like you have taken calc or smth
who is me
huh
bc i did nottt do that
oh yeah
wait then why did u respond
i wasnt talking to u lol
adding onto my point
and idk what u mean by this ^
naur
wait so are u the class of 2027 or 2028
my point was he shouldnt be giving dvice on stuff he hasnt taken
20208 i accently clicked 27
oh so ur in 8th?

oh?
i mean i have the same exept i choose IT
eh its just 1 class out of 7 every year anyway
oh nice. my school offered IT as well

Anyway, I just wanted to warn you a bit
Before sharing any specific details about your HS
Try to not get doxxed 😭
if someone finds my school they cant do anything 😭
idc bc its not like their bonna do anything
is rice good? i havent rly looked into that one
anywayysss so excited for HS bcc i can wake up late and leave my house at 8:55 and sleep in
School -> narrow it down with student directory OR search up your graduation videos (eventually will be posted) -> check your email through some sketchy site -> cross check your names -> boom identity found
my school starts at 7:25 :(

mine startd at 9
Depends on whatever you think is good
kind of tired of my middle school rn bc its 15 mins away bc its also a magnet
is it perchance good for the medical field?
ye
how are they gonna know my directory?
By finding your school
perfect
yeah but there are like thousands of other students there
