#course-selection

are ap's helpful for college app?
your pfp is my dream car, and Yes very helpful
Arguably the backbone of a t20 application
which AP's would be helpful for a CS major?
MUSCLE CARS β€οΈ
all of AP Comp sci's, AP calc AB or BC, and AP physics
really any AP physics
why would AP physics help? when im a comp sci major?
math
A basic understanding of physics would be needed especially if you are taking your bachelors in computer science. Physics is taught in computer science, mainly, to give students a better understanding of how the physical world works and how it can be applied to computer science.
i see, and this can help me boost my gpa too?(like if i have a low gpa like a 3.2 or smth and i get a good score in AP's, will they use some conversion factor or smth to boost my gpa ?)
heck yes
but again
AP physics is hard
would a bad score on AP physics be better than a good score on AP calc(assuming that it is any easier?)
Bad scores are never good
regardless of their difficulty
i see, that helps a lot thanks π
np keep up the grind bro
yea im applying to sophomore
Depends on what you took instead of it in freshman
but it really isnt productive to dwell on past mistakes
Wait
you arent even freshman

So take it in freshman
do the hardest courses you can
(can including your own personal capacity)
Well
you could make up for that by doing ECs this year
and just going hard into ECs
yea
Should I take pe instead of a-lab
What is a lab
what major do you want to do?
Academic lab
That sounds useless so take pe
leadership in a club is good, but just joining clubs is often not the most compelling EC, like you said with the other clubs
Ok
what are you interested in
like organic chem?
Oh ya
U gotta pay like all ur money
Tution
Residency
Ya
π
Yup
Dont go into medicine unless u rly into it
In my opinion its a waste of money
if u want to be rational, getting a mid tier full time job in CS would be much better than college
experience and you earn money instead of spending it
ofc if you dont already have enough employable skills
Business and cs
Ya thats fine just figure it out soon tho
So u know what ecs to focus on
CS for me
Just to say I want to college and ideally a prestigious one
the experience of college is good in any case
What ecs have u done so far
For cs
Bro everyone is picking cs as their major
so basically some projects and hackathons participation, but im getting better every day https://cdn.discordapp.com/emojis/1172185271400407101.webp?size=64
`huh??
Anyone from the UK pls reply i want some advice about college/university!!!
Is there any AP that yall strongly suggest not taking?
does anyone know of any good colleges for psychology majors near the south/east coast?
How does one find internships in high schoolβ¦
Itβs for the college app
Any specific websites or organizations?
Most internship applications are closed now
But you need to do research
And look at what other people do
Hello, is it a good idea if I take APUSH is 10th grade (and perform well) and drop back to honors. This is because APUSH is the only AP course available to Sophomores (not counting electives), and since I like social studies i want to do it. Later, in my junior year, I will drop back to honors SS and then continue with AP Lang and AP Physics 1
.i dont want AP classes to take over my whole schedule because I would be doing extracurriculars too
also I need someone to look over my 4 years planning schedule. I will post ot once someone responds
Sophmore year
yeah, i think it's a good idea to do apush early so you dont gotta fit it in with your junior year aps
ignore the Career boxes for Junior and senior year, I am a little iffy on the second elective
@waxen raft
How did you participate in Science Olympiad tournaments? Was it like Regional Science Bowls or is it different?
my school has a science olympiad team, and we go to the regional i think
i just signed up and picked an event, and when the day came, went on the bus
omg I love science olympiad
My new school doesn't have it tho π
π π
is the science bowl a good place to start in freshman year to show my intrest in sceince??
or like HOSA
i dont have science olympiad
is this good for freshman year: (want to major in electrical engineering)
honors english 9
honors algebra 2
honors physics
honors world history 1
honors french 3
study of dance (required)
HDC (my schools dance team)
they do just not for freshmen
k thanks
π
sometimes you can have exceptions for APs if you ask your counselor
k thankssss
do not take ap physics 2 or c without taking a prior physics course, and physics C has calculus concepts, so i encourage you to wait IF you want to take physics C
very nice
How is this schedule looking for senior year?
Also, my school does 7 periods, so Iβm not sure if it will look weird if I only take 5 classes.
Calculus honors AND AP Calc?
my school makes it a requirement cause they saw one period wasnβt very effective; itβs basically 2 periods of calc in a row
so is it taught by the same teacher
yeah
ah ok
interesting
Bro Iβm on the science Olympiad grind rn
We have internal testing to see who goes on the state team π
is this a good schedule for junior year?? currently a sophmore in 10th
ap calc ab (currently taking uw precalc)
ap chem (currently taking honors chem)
ap lang
idk what electives to take but im considering these:
ap csa (currently taking ap csp)
ap stats (will do senior year probs)
ap comp/usa gov
ap spanish (currently in spanish 3)
regretting not taking more aps this year
bro is tryna commit suicide fr
Not that bad
Honestly it wouldβve been suicide if he did calc BC, ap chem, ap physics
its a girl
And ap lit
What about it
π
bro different levels stop using ur own experience
Anyone become anyone these days
π
this channel kinda dumb cause everyone takes it from their own perspective and ultimately ruins ppl
but @ocean jay very rigorous tho try to balance ecs social life and school
yeah π
if u can handle it + good time management ur good
Change ab to bc
Tf is uw
unweighted..
no lmao
What is that
or reg

university of washington

oh real
im being fr π
alr
thats fine
still pretty tough
but yeah if ur up for it go for it, just make sure to take account other factors
alr thanks
frfr
frfr
im deciding on a college major. I want to be an entrepreneur, so would business administration be a good choice?
Ye
Iβm trying to decide whether I should take IB language and literature HL II or writing 121 in my senior yearβ¦ what are the pros and cons?
The default option is IB lang and lit Hl II because Iβm taking the year 1 course right now but I havenβt been enjoying the material much
Please anyone help me I am confused whether to work in a government bank or work as a chartered accountant
thoughts im planning fine arts and ap cs
but a little scared 2aps isnt enough bc my school does ab 14
AB 14??
about 14 aps are offered
at worst i plan to take at least 6
hug, es, lang, psych, ush, and then csp this year
but idk if i should do seminar because if i take seminar and research id have at least 8
does your school do class rank based on unweighted?
but everyone hates seminar
no were weighted
so if oyu dont take seminar you wouldnt be 1 anymore
but for our school our weighted and uw are almost proportional bc we only have like three non honors classes
i would i do all honors
honors is on the same level as AP?
tru
but if you get valedictorian
Why everyone have da anime pfp
actually i made the bold decision to sleep!
goodnight guys
or goodmorning idk
does taking aps in 12th actually help my college applications
im trying to write a 4 year plan for highschool and im not sure if i should take difficult courses in 12 or chill a little
im looking to apply for competitive cs programs (caltech, mit, etc) and i want to make sure my schedule is good
You still want to make sure youβre taking a rigorous course load your senior yesr
Also AP exams give you more credit for good scores so
oh ok
This isnt really about courses more about college/university but I don't really wanna say it there cause I still have a year till I can actually go anywhere, so...... how do I find which university is the hardest to apply to in my country? I've looked through many sources, but they all seem shady/sketchy, and I'm wondering if theres anyone who's more knowledgeable about this sorta stuff thanks for reading
Why would you want the hardest to apply to uni?
Do you mean the most selective (usually prestigious) uni?
The #1 spot in any case is contentious, but like neko said, it can also be hard to find the most prestigious uni
There isn't really any resource at all like that from my knowledge, especially not any single best one that ranks unis correctly for every country
Yes
Well I just want to apply to the hardest one so I can get better connections with others etc., cause right now I am in online school and dont socialize at all and dont gain information on the world or any new connections
and ive tried to see a couple of unis around me but theyre all terrible
yeah so basically prestige
a really annoying thing is that unlike people who can prepare for their tests with books etc., i dont even get told what my subject is gonna be until its the start of next month, and theres no coherent story in the text thats given, it's like a mess
huh
well this is a pretty good list of majors, not the ones I was looking at earlier, but i cant really find that lmao
Ooh
there's also always https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/explore-careers/majors
But the usefulness of that.. depends per person
so much
(click open in browser for the full image
did it not help you?
well in my opinion it doesnt even have that much information
like misleads you to thinking you know enough but doesnt actually have enough
alright so for IGCSE my school didnt offer mathematics (it was either maths or bio for me) and i took CS
now for AS/A levels i was wondering
whether I should take CS
well, there might be, but I think you'd be fine if you just read through the collegeboard pages, then do research on the ones that you think you will like
i have no real interest in it and i want to pursue a path like marine biology or something (not entirely sure, but somewhere along those biology lines)
Alright, thanks for the help anos
but since I didnt take maths (which i know is a valued subject in many colleges) would taking CS benefit me instead of that
or does it not matter?
Wait no math for IGCSE?
yep our school told us either bio or maths, but not both
Anyways I don't think CS would be a 'substitute' for it per se but if you wanna you can take it (if you don't like it then maybe think of another subject)
Bruhh that suckss
aight aight
Most unis require math in your high school tho~
How would you fulfill that requirement then π
no cause my parents were like "since you dont have maths, you need CS to make up for that lack of analytical subjects in your thing"
idk man ill figure that out :cries:
Which subjects did you have in your IGCSE and what are you planning on taking for your A Levels?
huh? there's quite a few students who dont take maths in hs
in IGCSE's i had physics, chem, bio, FLE (first language english), computer science, second language french
and for AS/A's im thinking of physics, chem, bio, english, and psychology
(maybe french aswell if our school offers it)
To be fair yeah it varies major to major but I think for most STEM ones you need math no?
oh yeah true
wait what comes under STEM majors?
i know theres engineering and stuff but what else?
Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics
Literally an acronym
Medicene is sometimes not included though
CS, Engineering ones, Bio-related majors, physics-related, chem-related, math-related, etc
so literally any science-related jobs?
Pretty much yeah as far as I know
Like I said, medicene is sometimes not included in STEM
but for the general definiton of stem, yea
MAN MY SCHOOL SUCKS
Marine Bio is stem
Ill figure it out after my exams
I'm sorry π
Have you taken your IGCSEs yet?
im giving my boards rn
you just wouldnt always consider a medicine school to be a stem school but thats cus its more specialised than medicine not being a part of stem
Oh I have a good question actually, I just did a career test and realised that i genuinely am still clueless, but i did realise that I want something thatll give me money in the future so i can be financially stable for me and my parents, whats the best paying job that needs a specific subject knowledge?
that's a cool combination for suree
which examination board will you be taking them under? (cambridge, edexcel, AQA, etc)
ah alr
generally there's a career like that in every major
cambridge (CIE)!
ofc money is a consideration
goddamn it now im even more confused hhhhhhhhh
Well I would say CS but people are having issues with finding jobs~
Ooo nicee!
should i wait till 9th grade to think about these decision or should i better start now than later
start now
ty <33
Bet
Just don't clog your head with these π feel free to think about it but don't let it occupy your headspace too much
It's rough π
its already been occupying my head since 5th grade its fineeeeeeee
π
its just that it feels like i cant get anywhere because of how much stress i get thinking about it
I sometimes dont even do my tests in time because im scared to click the submit button
π
skill issue tbh
π
In that case I would recommend avoiding it for a bit to clear your head
man tbh you should look into changing schools out from online schooling based on what you said earlier
I want to but my parents dont allow me to π₯²
because the one time I did go to public school i got robbed of all of my belongings and beaten up to the point of needing a doctor
π
No, they encourage me to go to uni, even study abroad if thats what i want to do but no public school
Oh btw I'm doing Edexcel so not completely sure about CIE, but our physics and chem often have various calculations that draw from concepts we learned in IGCSE and IAL Math~ @golden tartan so if your school doesn't offer it I would still recommend just going through the book on your own π
Life feels like an absolute mess but I feel like thats for everyone in this chat so eh
Wait is this the 'elite and prestigous' public school or the government managed public school
elite and prestigious
the government ones literally have people killing each other
i dont think id survive there
It'll be aight dwdw
yeah our sciences also have a fair bit of calculations, and i generally get straight A* in them so saving grace maybe βοΈβοΈ
What country even is this
Is it alright for you now π₯
Very small country, Latvia
uHM
Oh Eastern Europe https://cdn.discordapp.com/emojis/1172184404521652334.webp?size=64
π
Somewhat yes π but study pressuree βΌοΈ
Oh thats great
OH wait more questions actually uhhhhhhhhhh
should i buy a calculator
oo lesgoo you should be good to go π
Imma be real with you idk I found my AS much much easier than IGCSEs π
well, why?
Go for it π
my boards arent even over but i have a whole study plan already in mind for my AS
Do you have separate board exams and IGCSEs or do you refer to the IGCSEs as boards?
IGCSE's as boards
it just rolls of the tongue more smoothly π
Fair π are they in June?
What's with calling them boards in any case
Do you do them with a cutting board and hope
nope im halfway-through them right now!
they end on the first of march
yes π
OH GOOD LUCKK
idk when i gotta do sat's but i remember gohar saying that you should buy a calculator and get used to it for sat's
you got thisss
TYYY
eh
desmos is fine too
can desmos be used in SAT's?
its inbuilt into bluebook
I preferred my actual calc over Desmos during the exam tho~ since I was more used to it
Helo nekooo
I see u lurkin
yeah but he'd buy it for the sat
uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
and he already knows about desmos
π
is there a way to make it do formulas as well
i wanna prepare for it
Hello darkness my old friend π
yes it does
should i google it or ask for help here
bottom right
it literally has high school topics till like precalc
Depends on how it works there but I sat for it when my Grade 12 just started
o h
so i have 4 years left damn ok uhm
im doing it in freshman, but 7th or 8th grade is just too early
^
mmmmmmmmm
Whenever you're prepared to give it
What should i do then
rising middle school senior
Because my knowledge in everythings like inferior
just find out your interests
ofc it is
Focus on your regular school work and participate in extracurricularsπ
why does school and life exist if you dont change or grow
i cant i looked through the college selection and everything seems too fun
good question
college selection?
high fiveee
π
(I have no idea what the scores mean)
how tf did i get such a bad grade in music
out of 10
OOPS
what is college selection
like
ok not college but the things that you sent
the jpeg
oh the majors
and the link
yess
I guess im kinda interested in cooking
thatsall I can think of
I SUCK at it though
everything i make becomes poison
is there anything related to cooking
as a major
i dont think there is
well, cooking would be taught in a vocational institution
not a usual 4 year college
vocational....?
im so sorry im not smart enough for that word
where they teach you skills not theory and normal school material
like cooking or plumbing ig
oh
not to say there aren't many prestigious baking schools
baking and cooking do they have rabbit holes in themselves
I need to go to something that gives full tuition
because if i dont then i cant go anywhere
im barely surviving on dry noodles π
but if you get tuition for applying then
thats the whole point of applying
to be taught
?
well, idrk about what you're even talking about
tuition is another form of the verb (to teach)
i need to apply to a college or uni that does full paying so my applying is free otherwise i cant get anywhere
ah
i thought it was like
they make your things free
π
well, that depends on the policy for aid and scholarships in your area I suppose
ive been trying to find the rules and policy in google but i just cant
because there isnt any specific set
w h a t
it depends between unis and colleges
aeeeeeeeeeeeee
How do i find the most prestigious uni/college
thats been my goal the entire time
because as far as i know the more presitigous the more coverage for payment
sorry if i dont make sense, im just really bad at explaining things and I dont understand like 70% of the rules of everything
well, you're right, I just can't really comment on the top unis in latvia or how much aid they offer
Makes sense, but do you know any like
site that displays top 1000 unis
or smt
and then i can just search for the name and
get something at least
they aren't ever reliable
shiiiiiiiiiii
hmm
then im clueless
as always
but thanks for explaining a couple of things
Alright, ive looked through Every singlecourse and i guess for me the best one is something to do with languages (i think)
Idk why i didnt consider that since im learning mandarin, japanese, english, russian, and latvian
im worse in my native than english π
so idk what to do now hhhhh
do you enjoy the nuances of language?
Linguistics is a pretty good underrated major
its pretty fun
I like learning languages a lot i mean
Its more fun than school π
Do more research into it then
im rn doing random language things
Yeah I mean i am but when i try to find a uni or college that give courses on them (in my country) theres n o n e
It depends on the country that you are at, your familyβs income, and the schoolβs policies
that's fine
Sometimes more prestigious does not mean more coverage
It could mean more costs instead
oh, what do i do then
there are some one or two countries away from you that also provide good aid
My familys income is in the negatives we are barely alive π₯²
Im planning on giving a call to like as many unis/colleges as i can and finding out about their policy and majors but idk if its intruding or not
Call?
Just check their websites
Or email
noone calls

well
that could give you a unique aspect
Usually there is a page on their website that would show the policies?
oh ok
Off topic but jeez
dude its so hard for me to read my native language u got no clue π
rookie numbers π₯
i have a clue lmao
ahhhh
whats your native?
hindi
I wanna learn as many languages as i can
thats on my list of languages ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh
i wanna become n4 level in japanese so i can continue chinese
and then get at least some proficiency in chinese
then hindi, spanish, etc
languages are very fun
grueling but fun
to learn at least
altho some rules are total bs
Man i hate hindi
Well, if you just like languages in general, Linguistics isn't necesarrily the major for you
harder than any asian language as far as i know
yeah maybe
i did some more like
It's the study of how they work
major quizes or whatever tf theyre called
and got uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
that i enjoy music
languages
major quizes
and drawing
suck
it's like a lottery but with a bias based on what you say
TBH though
Like I said
aaaaaaaaaaaaugh
just make a list of majors you are interested in
if you want to go through everything
Dude why does everything have to be so confusing
its hard for me to pay attention to them though
what is undergrad π
or quora pages
bachelors
yes
what do i need that info for then
to decide your major
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
it doesnt matter
a uni is just a group of colleges
even in a uni, youll be in a college
is it possible to go to both
read what i said
oh
im exhausted from this thinking
i havent thought about this in like
2 days or so
i forgot this feeling
hey as is proven
mmmmmmmm
doing stuff early in your life
Wait just out of curiosity
helps
Ive only used uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
the gohars thing
i forgot name fffffff
khan academy
for like 6 hours or so
does it help
or no
Thatβs not gohar?
oh
lol

since his name if I remmeber
used it to do what
my memorys bad
lmao
was gohar khan?
khan dynasty
maybe?
no
math, chem, and some physics
oh
there's millions of khans
gupta is
a very common name
yes but
gupta is a juice brand in my country
π
i didnt even know it was a name
i really gotta research things
people put their family names as their brand name
is oreo owned by john oreo or is that like
idfk
it might be
oh
welp
guess we'll never know
ok ima go take a nap actually
my brain hurts if i think for too long
its like in overheat
imagine being so dumb that your brain hurts from thinking
how do i fix this
oh this is course selection ugh
ok
alright goodday for now
I wanna be a lawyer
Next year i have to choose 3 subjects from 7
Options:
(u have to choose atleast 1 below subject )
Biology
Physics
Chemistry
Combo Science
(You cant choose all 3 subject below at the same time)
Economics
Business
World History
for now i want to choose - combo science, economics and history
i dont like physics or chemistry
physics and chem isnt required for lawyer so ur good on not taking those
but if your high school does require you to take it, take it
Hi all, I have a question for choosing my strand;
I plan to do computer science and become a developer but the highschool i plan to go to only has STEM available.. I've seen that ICT is what's for developing and coding but it isn't available in my hs, so.. will STEM do or should I look for a different highschool instead?
(idk if this is the right channel to post this question but it's related to college anyways Β―β \β _β (β γβ )β _β /β Β―)
Iβm 18 going off to oxford this year to study computer science. Education system in the uk is slightly different, but I only took Fm physics and chemistry. The βcomputer scienceβ a level is pretty irrelevant in the uk, most universities only care about your mathematical abilities.
Oh okay! So I should go with the STEM strand then, Math isn't a struggle for me but I didn't realize that it's what most universities cared for.. I only have high grades in computers because it's what I've wanted to focus on, hopefully STEM will help get my maths up! π Thanks and Goodluck on your study in Oxford! π₯³
No worries, I would recommend getting advice from people who understand your education system better aswell though, I can only speak about my own experience
AP Econ, AP Calc BC, AP Lang, AP CS principles, Geospatial Science DE, US History DE and Naval Science 3. Is it to much ?
This is for junior year
hi! i would say whatever youβre the most comfortable with. i assume you took AB since youβre taking BC, which is typically a one-semester course. if every other course is regular, iβd say itβs a pretty solid list!
it might be too much if youβre not used to the AP route (which i doubt), so you should be fine π
Should I just take ceramics 1 my senior year for the art credit since I want to go to a California college 8n the future?
In*
Iβm a freshman and I took CSP and Spanish 2. Next year Iβm thinking of taking APUSH and CSA and dropping Spanish. Is that a good idea or should I continue Spanish? Spanish is one of my worst classes.
most colleges require 3-4 years of a language
so, you might want to plan for that (it would be fine to do it in junior and senior)
is it possible to do it earlier? getting required credits done early is usually best
Iβm a freshman and i was thinking of taking algebra 2 over the summer to do precalc next year, but its a really rigorous course and its not needed but it would be nice. just asking for some advice
if your teachers think that youre up to it, i think it's fine
precalc basically covers alg 2
ah
yeah my geometry teacher recommended i do it but its 6 weeks for like 6 hours a day with a lunch break and im not super into that but i have time to decide
damn thats a lotta work
when i did alg 2 online, i started in march and finished in december lol
precalc started in the middle
if i were u id take algebra 2 in school, then self study pre calc to skip it
that makes more sense imo since algebra 2 covers more topics and things you'll use a lot in later math
thats what im gonna do personally
thats smart but i dont think my school allows self studying only summer courses to get ahead
yeah same thing i just mean its probably smarter to actually take the alg 2 class
during the yr
how tf does alg 2 cover more topics than precalc
I tried bro I was suppose to take it this year but I got the wrong schedule at the beginning of the year and I got stuck with this gifted class and I'm planning to grind for sophomore and junior year, and I would only have time senior but an art elective isn't required at the state where I live
Urgh the stupid incorrect schedule sort of messed up my course plans too
But ig ceramics 1 in senior year wouldn't be too baf
Bad
I finalized my junior course load. Rate it out of 10 guys! AP Psych, AP Lang and Comp, AP calc BC, AP bio, Honors physics, Pe and French 3
Iβm a freshman and I took CSP and Spanish 2. Next year Iβm thinking of taking APUSH and CSA and dropping Spanish. Is that a good idea or should I continue Spanish? Spanish is one of my worst classes.
I strongly recommend you take foreign language of any for 4 years
Is it possible for you to switch to mandarin or something
is it possible to switch in highschool from regular math 9 to geometry
Looks gud
itβs pretty easy
iβm in it rn
itβs not that bad
i would say it is easier then geom
my test grades arenβt as high as i would want to be, but itβs not bad
but for any class, itβs the teacher.
No
donβt to that
alg 2 concepts are very important in later math
no
Itβs easy, not a piece of cake. Definitely not worth skipping
I mean if you want go ahead
but like it just depends on the teacher tho
if you get a good teacher ur fine
i dont see a point in skipping
what?
if ur teacher sucks ur screwed
the world isnt divided into geometry ppl and algebra ppl
it so is
u can be good in both
if youre good at both youre an ai
idk if iβm βgood in bothβ
so ur going into algebra 2
gl cuz theres no more geometry for u π
yh but youre also working with alg concepts when you do trig in calc and stuff
yeah i would not skip
Yeah i mean i did much better in alg 1 & so far 2, but i didnβt necessarily do bad in geometry i had like a low a or high b
but definitely worse
idk iβm not in pre calc
iβm not sure
i think algebra 2 is worth taking
wdym
depends on ur school
Varies by school
is apush hard?
@arctic wedge depends on teachers/school
OVERALL, it is very rigorous
dont let other ppls ease in history make u believe its easy
sophmores tell me that there aren't any good teachers
u should still take it for college credit
its also good to practice ur writing skills n such
aight
then it's gonna be hell
i was lucky with a teacher that didnt gaf so i just self studied and saved myself a ton of time
but this year my school got a new teacher and the apush kids are all dying from homework
π
lucky man
hiemler's history saved me fr
Should I take P.E men or P.E co-ed?
can yall like tell me if my courses make sense for sophomore year
Alr fire away
okay so for core classes: AP World, Alg 2 (Might test out then take AP Precalc), Chem, English 2
electives: Band (Double blocking), Comp Sci 1, AP Physics
not so sure about the ap physics part but I took it cuz I need to take at least 2 APs
Is this next year
yes
ngl I think you would learn more in pre calc honors than ap pre calc
Iβm not so sure about the physics part
yea, it's a new course in my school and literally everyone's taking it so no one rlly knows
how it is
Itβs arguably the hardest ap class there is
Tied with ap chem
even harder than ap physics?
What
What is
Ap precalc
hell no
is ap physics like hell, that's what I've heard a lot π
Iβm saying you learn more in pre calc honors rather than ap pre calc. Ap pre calc is designed for people who are maxing out at pre calc
And no prior experience in physics is going to be suicide
oop
I recommend switching ap physcis out with ap bio or something
its not
π
u go to calc ab
Yes bro?
no??..
thatβs what guidance told me
I can't take ap bio, the pre req is bio and chem
ur counselor def wrong π

π
I made the alternate fr ap physics ap physcology
Thank you Mega
generally this is right tho
im taking appc this year and going to ab next year
Why get my hopes up man
(in our school ab comes before bc no matter what)
well after alg 2 in my school ppl can take ap stats, and then after precalc is ab or bc
oh thats interesting
my school lets ppl skip to bc
Same here
blud π€‘
u should try boba
My plan currently is geo, (algebra 2 summer), pre calc honors, (ap calc ab summer,) ap calc bc, (mulivarivle summer,) DE math
π€‘
wait are you a freshman currently
lil bro im older than u π
or what year
hes co 2027
Thatβs the joke lilbro
no π€‘
oml
lmo
LOL
Yes
thx for the help, but yeah wish me luck lmao probs not gonna be seen outside of my house for the rest of the year
Gl man
keep us updated
thx u 2
also do yall think I'll be fine cuz I was kinda dumb this year, I didn't take ap human geo even tho my school offered it and that was cuz I wanted to major in stem so I didnt see the point in taking an ap history class but now Im tryna max out on aps as much as a i can π
you'll be fine but generally try n take max rigor for gpa boost
okay π
funny
yo some ivy leagues like harvard require some language classes that they offer and my high school offers comp sci classes as language. does harvard accept comp sci as language credits?
No π
But good try
aw
Yes!!
I was going to take it
Until I switched last minute
That's actually really cool
I wanna learn ASL so bad
Yo this is an emergency. Anyone had a recommendation for the last alternate elective slot for the course selected for a freshman who likes stem and is very indecisive???
im pretty sure they describe it as an βideal applicantβ
which courses have you taken? which can you take?
i took no language classes but know 5 languages and put that as an EC
if you just want to increase your gpa, AP CSP would be my first recommendation regardless of anything
tysm
u wanna be as ideal as possible for an ivy

tbh earning an award in a non-native language is a p good ec
I'm taking ap csp rn but nvm my bros came and helped me out
lol π
yes!!!
Ig my alternative electives would just be ap psyc, cad design and software(it's technically both eng1 and arch1), and intro to robotics...
pray to the lord that I get my MAIN electives instead which are ap physics 1, Spanish 2(maybe 3), and ap environmental sci
APs >>
But ye, that really depends on what you are interested in
actually nvm
might want to take the lightest course
Ik so that's why I'm gonna hopefully take regular chem and ap physics 1 next year then ap bio and phy 2 junior and HOPEFULLY ap Chem senior
honestly if you want college credit (not assured) and trying to get into a top school, take the most rigorous courses
Is the AP Chem, AP Physics I duo good?
werent u off the grid??
i take ap chem and itβs something for sure
and donβt get me started on ap physics π
Well I'm very accquainted with the AP Chem teacher
which means
Let's just say he has high standards that I wish to accel at
oh π
Excel*
if you think and feel you can take it then go for it
Same here dudeee he's my ap csp teacher rn too
Well I better do AP Chem now cuz of short staffage, AP Chem is done every other year
really praying for you
go for it then
π
your ap csp and chem teachers are the same?
calc teachers are built different
thatβs why most of the time i take matters into my own hands
Yea
my school offers a measly two languages but i learned far more than that π
I'd prefer my AP Chem teacher over her just cuz my AP Chem teacher actually teaches
Well it's a shame that teachers are getting paid less
I live in Maryland, and there is a massive teacher shortage
yes
rela
real
smae here in nj
prob bc kids these days dont wanna learn
Mainly a lot quit during covid
and disrespectful
Yea
and deadly
IRS
during my science class these kids will run around and throw stuff
what did you do to offend the irs
???
dick thing to say but ok
its easier to become a best when no ones paying attention and trying
right
on one hand it's like. the less competition the better. on the other hand my classmates are all stupid
Atlanta?
teacher should not be crying
the area yeah
dude
not rural
In da hood
Close to da hood
close
at least it's not rural asf
lmao
I live pretty rural
we have a lot of opportunities and stuff
it's not an itty bitty school but it's not inner city so it's like the sweet spot
inner city schools are fucking TERRIBLE
Ye
no 7/11 yes walmart
Baltimore City and Balt. County schools suck
what about 7 up
what about kitkat
u got john hopkins atleast
we got both
π
lucky
if u go south of NJ, we got wawa
Wawa is decent
