And since senior year people take stacked classes it makes sense
college apps single handedly makes it bad
semester 2 is free
but semester one is harder than any other semester
Well that's if u don't do them in the summer
If u start them June or even July it should be that bad
june ๐ญ
Yeah I plan to start late may , let the thoughts marinate
dude i finished my dartmouth essays like three hours before it was due
may is insane
i mean good for u
hope you did good
youll deffo be glad you did it
i got in
Depending on ur result that is Hella impressive
DAMN
amazing
it was just like cutting my essays
holy shi
where are you commiting now
how bro
WWW
bro cooked when he needed to
amazing www
but i was deffo behind on all my essays
what major
so yeahh dont start too late if you applying to a lotta schools
biomedical engineering on premed path

i want to become a doctor also
what is your SAT score?
1540 sat, 35 act
I am still in 8th grade
self-study SAT?
what were your extracurriculars name a few plz for us
sal khan the goat ๐
yh, i did sat first and wanted to try out act
u got guts
i did badly on the math part comparatively, got a 32
bro
but everything else i clapped
its still impressive
workable
@halcyon tulip
thank you
tower event, dynamic planet, botany
i didnt study dynamic planet or botany lol i just kinda did it cuz why not
hi guyss im having trouble choosing between AP stat and AP comp sci A for next year (i only have room for 1)! I want to major in business/economics but don't know what to choose, any advice?
but i ended up placing ๐
choose AP stats
last year
Regional is not the hardest to place at but still respect
i also did bridge event
Sick I also do tower in Sci oly
hmm yeah its better for business right? thats what ive heard but im not sure
yes
thanks!
Stats, It is easier than csa imo and works well with ur major
i see, thanks
Omg I remember the captains in my hotel room the night before state staying all night for their bridge ๐
It was common but they worker extra hard just to break on the bus
lol my school never takes stuff like this seriously
I mean its easier to become the number one when no one really cares
im the first kid to go to an ivy in over a decade
W
W
yk whats weird tho, my grade in particular is pretty sweaty
Wasn't gohar was the only one to get into MIT in his school
what college did the top 1 get into
Size of average pe class in my school
but any previous year id be number 1 by so much
they dont know yet, they applied mit ea, but was deferred
did u ea dartmouth?
yeah
dam!
i loved it when i visited
i visited a buncha other college
but nowhere else clicked
visit schools early
take notes
ask questions
man I would love to
but my dream college is across the country
Preference over northwestern and u Chicago
indiana?
How many ap/honors classes should i take sophmore year
Urbana champaign
depends how many u can handle
rip ๐ญ
It my number 1 pick since it in state and good cs
but id still suggest visiting any schools that you might apply to
just to get a taste yk
helps you realize what you like and dont like
any other colleges u applied to?
On God cut out Idaho and Iowa we don't need them
Realistically about 15 states could be gone we won't notice
i got into case western
but since i did ED i pulled out everywhere else
try to find a person in wyoming challenge
i applied to a lot tho
Ivy leagues?
i hadnt applied to those yet
Ah I see
yale and harvard, maybe princeton?
Did u applie to any rea or just ed?
so rea means you cant apply to any other private schools early
i appled to northeastern, umich, and case western early
oh and unh
Cool
i only got case western's result before dartmouth
so yh i pulled out of everywhere else
im soo glad i didnt have to do the other essays
and pay
80 bucks a school
wtf
not cool
you have to pay a fee to send your application in
oh lol i was saying it wasnt cool that i wouldve had to spend so much
not to ur thing
mb
essentially a gamble
I see
fr
Which is basically the college scene in the us
facts
but something nice about the US is, there are a lot of colleges to apply to
Hoping that one kid that barely beats u out is sren after u in the admission process
real
are u doing your apps now?
how's your list going
talking to Reg?
Yeah its over for you
how over
Its wraps
like on a scale of 1-10
11
lowk
chill give me some hope
thank you
thanks?
It really depends on what youre trying to achive with all tyhose aps
i mean its max rigor i'm assuming which is what mainly matters
Ivy's, UVA Computer Science
on every counselor recc, they have a fill-in-the-box for choosing max rigor vs other levels
Yeah as long as youre good with time management, you should be good
Really??
and colleges generally always want to see max unless there are extenuating circumstances
yeah
okay
thank you guys
final question: what's the hardest of them all per year
where did you see this
i thought it asked how they were compared to other students
like top 10%, top 5%, top 1% course rigor
i cant see how one ap class or honors off would impact it that much, just seems like a pretty major oversight
i mean yes it's phrased like that but applied into action there are always going to be people that go for the max courseload no matter where you're at, for the most part
there are obviously exceptions but it's advisable to take the max your school offers
and obviously one or two honors/aps won't affect it like u said but cutting down on like 3+ will definitely will especially if it's later in hs
ok yeah i agree with you
So rn im taking trig honors/calculus honors (equal to ap calc a) and we have the opportunity to take the ap precalc test this spring. Should i take it? What college credit will i get? Im taking AP calc BC next year then calc 3 senior year for context
if i wanna go into cs
should i take ap csa, ap csp, and apush
or ap bio, and ap csa
apcsa is a must
and only take the ap courses that fit your pathway
bio has nothing to do with cs unless you're going into bio engineering
take something that might be useful for cs majors
like ap calc or ap physics
Should I take Math Methods or Specialist Maths?
Planning to study medicine, but if my ATAR isn't high enough, then engineering (probably)
guys would i be fine in international as level maths if i took extended math in igcse
How should I answer the second question
Answer it honestly.
Talk about the things you will learn in it.
About how it can relate to your future pathways, etc
Something like that I guess
I took academic history this year. Itโs a little too easy for me. Do you think it would be okay to go up to AP Push ? I took pre-ap history in 9th grade got a A-?
Same here cuz I'm gonna take Chem and ap physics 1 next year
ap chem and ap physics?
my man
u are going to die
No not ap Chem bc it wasn't offered at my school this year
Should I take ap Chem and ap physics 2 or ap bio and ap physics 2 in my junior year?
I need advice! What courses should I pick for grade 10 as someone who wants to deal with technology in the future? Also should I do civics and careers during summer?
Do csa or any other coding course
And engineering classes will help as well
Same
Welcome to the club
- 3-4 other APs
same here
imma take them next year in my sophomore year
i feel hearing online people say ap chem is hard but the people at my school say its not very different from 10th grade adv chemistry...
maybe i school goes overboard with adv chem idk
Dang guess we're all gonna start grinding next year
what IB courses should I take for aviation?
Ap bio and phys
so I am currently taking Honors Geometry at my school and I want to take Algebra 2 during the summer through my school's summer program. My math teacher highly not recommends doing so, but It messes up a lot of plans I have regarding college apps and course work. I know Algebra 2 is a heavy course in terms of important content, but at the same time im going to have a lot of time duirng the summer to hone my skills. My goal is to get into precalc
dual enrollment or ap csp?
my selection form is due tmrw and i need advice
pls
i currently have no aps but i wanna do a college elective
dont do it. Its better to master the basics then go head on into the advanced stuff. You should have done goemetry over summer if u wanted to get ahead.
Yeah you could be doing much more things since takin summer school takes a lot of time
Is it for math? Bc my school ap csp counts as a math credit
No
Just for gpa boost
Np but I'm a freshman so I'm not too experienced too bc ap csp was my first ap
Im doing ap csa right now
I am also sort of bc my ap csp would go fast enough that we get to go through 2 units ap csa near the end of the year
if she thinks u cant do it she is probs right
she knows you as a student and would only reccomend you if you accell ingeometry
also it will damage ur gpa (i think?)
Hi all. For anybody who has done cs50. Does it go on your permanent record if you fail any courses/ is it worth enrolling?
bro i think my friends are about to die freshman year, here are their schedules:
AP US Gov
AP Seminar
AP CSP
Bio H
Algebra 2 H
French/Spanish H
how fast before they want to commit?
I found us gov and CSP pretty easy
im a bio major so im slightly biased
French and spanish
tho
like
I dont think that a good idea unless those are intro courses
Algebra 2 isnt bad and a very very important math class for all future maths and sciences
I wish I didnt have algebra 2 online
When I was in highschool I was super behind on those concepts
Now in college I look back and see how easy it was ๐ฅฒ
lmao
If you have a simple understand of how the us government works and slight common sense US Gov is easy
And at my school CSP was block coding
for the first semester atleast
but i havent taken CSP in like 4-5 years so its probably changed
yeah
Im pretty sure csp is just algorithms and computer science theory now
im planning to take csp and csa 11th and 12th grade
I tried to take CSA
dropped it after the first test
6/20
and just TA'd for AP chem
writing down code sucks tbfh
CSA just isnt the type of class for conventional tests
You have practice and projects where you get to correct errors and check your work
To a test where you have to be right the first time
The practice did not translate to the tests
no clue what you're talking about but im sure thats funny as hell
well wut language did you have your csa in
Java
How does one print to the console in Java?
I fully commited to the premed track after that class drop dude I have no idea what print to console even means
Actually now that I remember
It's the equivalent to print () in another language
I was doing computer programming because I didn't want to take spanish and thought learning a programming language would be a subsititue
LMAO
my advice to everyone is finish spanish in highschool cause now i gotta take it in college and its way harder
I've been a firefighter for about 3 years and ran about 300-400 patients
the 2 times I was reviewed by quality assurances was with a spanish speaking patient
The language barrier causes alot of problems
it depends on what u want to do
but lord basic spanish woulda saved me alot
is ap world history or ap human geography worth it in freshman?
what IB courses should I take for aviation?
physics definitely. math aa as well
otherwise there aren't that many subjects you absolutely need
maybe just stuff to make you look unique?
Do you mean take it up to ap Spanish?
I think at my university itโs up to either Spanish 4/5 to be exempt from Spanish in college
Spanish 5 at my school is ap
fun* :)
wait so cs doesnt count as foreign language?
yea it dosent

I mean it does but it doesnโt
some colleges take it as a foreign language
but some donโt
HUH!?
cs is a separate thing ๐
cs has nothing to do with foreign languages
Fulfiling ap language req be like
Do yall think it's an overkill for myself if I take 6 ap classes and 1 regular for my junior year?
No
Let's goo
no if you can handle it
itโs a common language
also being bilingual is cool
would it be smart if I take ap csp and ap csa or should i take them in different years
Take CSA if you can
CSP is a pre-req to CSA sometimes tho
school dependent but CSA is better
only do both if either
A. CSP is a prereq
B. You want to be a computer science major
I just went over the AP world history syllabus and it seems like the course cover a lot of things. For those of you who have experience with AP world, do you think it's better to take Global 10 with one moderate difficulty AP class or just AP world?
My school doesn't offer ap csa ๐ข
Guys is this good for Freshman Year: English 9 Honors, Algebra 2 Honors, Biology Honors, Principles of Biomedical Sciences Honors, Global Studies/Health, and Spanish 1
It's better than the classes I'm taking rn
I was suppose to go to a private school but my parents were broke to afford the tuition, so I had to go t a public school but they dont allow you to go to honors algebra in 7th grade
Yo freshman class lineup
all as advanced as possible (except i picked percussion ensemble over AP CSP in my elective spot)
alg 2/trig adv and bio adv not marked as required because there are lower level options
what are you not taking english honors or advanced
hes black
is this good 9th grade schedule?
-honors english 9, honors geomtry, honors biology, ap hug, avid, spanish 1
idk how to expplain it
is this good
looks good
algebra 2 honors for freshman is prety good
does anypne have avid in their school? if so, does anyone know if its a good class to take
Do you guys think schools would prefer AP electives over band or wind ensemble, or would they be okay with you going down a music path, even if it's unrelated to what your major is gonna be in college?
Do band
Itโs fun it shows commitment dedication and skill and if ur still taking other aps itโs ok
Yo I think you are in 10th grade don't mistake me because I saw your course
Is this good for 9th grade: English Honors, Math 2 Honors, Biology Honors, Biomed Honors, Global Studies/Health, Spanish 1, and P.E
Yeah that's solid
Yo so I am gonna take world history at my local college
what is better AP or college course (local)
Alright, ty
yyour asian so u wouldnt know
in the future the us is gonna be 50 percent hispanic
bc they opened te border
wht is math 2
Iโm an incoming freshman to hs, planning on pursuing medicine in an ivy school, thereโs only two aps I can choose from, ap comp science and ap art history, thoughts? ๐คจ
idk about algebra 1 since thereโs supposed to be a math assessment soon
Iโm crying my school doesnโt offer any good courses ๐ญ
Does u school require a fine art or tech. Ed credit?
Take both
ur going int freshman taking algebra 1
gl with the ivy then
why
i plan to stop in 10th which is 4 spanish years
thats good enoug hright
Ap is better for GPA boosts
you can graduate faster but it only matters if u r planning to take that said course in college
Schools donโt necessarily boost for AP classes
It varies on school
not a thing
my school doesnโt do advanced for everything because lets say 2/5 sections are advanced. If you are in all advanced its very limiting in terms of schedule making and course conflicts
but if there are 5 sections you could be in then it will fit into schedules better
also i said all as advanced as possible
AP --> College Credit, Higher Weighted GPA (Dw about your school's calculation, colleges will re calculate)
College course --> Generally, applications don't weigh these as high as APs, but they might have a better curriculum/ topics, and the weightage difference depends between colleges
College credits only matter if that course would be a part of your college curriculum though
Depends on the school
At my school 4 is enough but Iโd do 5 for safety
bruh
I donโt I should do Spanish honors next year. Iโm currently a freshman, taking Spanish honors this year. I got a B+ (87) first semester, and I want to get into a good college (so I canโt really be getting Bโs). The current semester is 25% done, and Iโm doing better with a 94 (A). I donโt know if I want to do Spanish honors next year, though my teacher recommended me for it. Here are the pros and cons to doing it:
Pro:
- Lower chance of getting a B
Cons:
- Colleges donโt like when I drop down
Pls ping me for advice or I wonโt respond, thanks!
what spanish level are you in 1 or 2
Iโm doing intermediate Spanish honors this year
so what are you guys learning
Right now?
yeah
We are learning about reflexive verbs like ducharse, acortarse,
And vocab words like una cita, la boda
Idk
The course is Called Intermediate Spanish 2 honors
yeah so spanish 2
Yesโฆ..?
i think youll be fine in spanish 3 (next year) taking honors
because im pretty sure spanish 3 is more cooled down
Itโs taught entirely in the target language and the course descritiption says itโs an โap prep foursโ which sounds pretty hard
maybe try talking to your cousnelor or spanish teacher to see what it consists of and how much you think youll be able to do?
some unis require certain years of a foreign language, and freshman and sophomore grades in the 85-90 region wouldn't really affect your application too much, especially if you get much better grades in your junior year and senior first semester and stuff
So what do you think
you might need spanish for four years
for some colleges
can someone rate my course selection: ap physics (third year of lab science), ap chem, web design (fine art credit), honors english, APUSH, Precalc
I'm going into junior yr btw, im wavering between computer science or psychology
but im probably doing ap cs or ap psych outside of school
Wait, so am I allowed to do AP SS course in 10th grade and drop back to honors? Or should I refrain form that beacsue it looks bad on your application? Like I will be doing other APs but its just an exmaple
If that course is higher level than the honors course, why would you want to?
becasue I will be doing otehr APs in 11th grade, Teh only AP course I can take in 10th is AP SS. In 11th, I will stick to Science and English APs (cant take AP math in junior year). In 12th grade I will do Science, English, Math and French APs
wait, what does AP SS stand for again?
Social science, right?
colleges dont care if you do AP Macroeconomics and then do US History Honors in the next year
yeah
It doesnt matter for bigger subjects
obv there is no point to take honors maths after ap calc bc
but not for social science which has multiple subjects within it
plus even if you do, there is no reason for colleges to mind, unless you fail the AP course I suppose
that will look bad even if you take AP again the next year
I see AP economics
Are you taking an honors economics course next year?
no, Honors US history II
you are taking
an honors history course
after an ap eco course
why should a college care?
if you can take an AP, take it, and ofc, APs look good on apps, but there is no downside to going from an AP Social science course to an honors course
especially if your school doesnt offer APUSH
Can someone explain the difference in little kid terms between ap micro and macro economics
Honors or no
What should I do
Well, if your school doesn't offer it, colleges don't exactly mind
?
My sucio offfers Spanish
Like, honors
If it doesn't offer honors
I was talking about requirements
micro teaches you about individual businesses/firms and markets, while I think macro teaches you about like econ on a national and global scale
also has anybody taken ap precalc or ap seminar before?
i've been debating whether to take them or not
I heard ap seminar is a free class and you just do projects and stuff
and i heard its easy
and the aptest is easy too
for ap precalc im not sure, but what are you expecting? its a math class.
Are you tryna see how much work each gives or?
AP precalc is just pre calc with the ap name slapped on, it's pretty easy for an AP course, gpa boost at that
Srsly
Yes
Why they even offer that as an ap. I dont think colleges have pre calculus classes
lol
Yes lol
The credit doesn't matter
gpa boodt
True
So should I do honors or no
Yea
So honors when you have the option
Unless you can do AP or IB
my middle school allows honors class, should i take it to imrpove academies, or not, because of stress and time?
it will help you build study habits and get you ready for more advanced classes, but it will not have an impact on college admissions as colleges will not see what classes you take in middle school
unless they are high school level classes
thanks! and what about pre-AP? do colleges look at that?
anything in middle school they wont have access to
they will see all high school level classes
oh okay thanks
yeah, it requires 1 year of fine arts
ap micro little money
ap macro big money
(I think)
(thats an educated guess)
Anybody know if any ivy leagues host dual enrollment and such?
College courses for hs students?
I recently looked at a family friend's college app, she got into princeton pre med and had some college credit from mit or something
probs got that from a summer program
usually precollege programs offer credits for like a semester or two i got a couple credits from one but otherwise they dont accept college credit from normal dual enrollment
last wednesday i had a freshman meeting about our course selection and i have 5 AP classes but i wanna take 4 at minimum
should I drop AP English Lang?
because i wanna take AP Calculus and AP physics senior year
or idk if I should stick to normal physics or normal calculus
i planned AP English Lang on junior year but im not sure
what's your planned courses list as of now and what do you want to go into post-secondary
Well first, I'd say you shouldn't have such a rigid plan as I can tell from what you've said
And that's all I can tell from what you've said, that you have a plan, but nothing really about it
Are you asking us or just talking to yourself
guys what courses do you recommend for aviation ?
Is ap seminar a easy class
Also is taking ap physics and ap chem with 3-4 other aps a good idea
Ap Calc and above if your school has the courses
And ap physics
Depends on how much you can cope, it won't matter much if you don't have good ECs
Idk then sorry
Colleges don't expect you to take 5 APs in senior year if your school didn't allow you to take APs for the whole hs
Oh, then I should prob take some out then since I need to grind extracurricular
Thx
Prob not
Has anyone done law? Im wondering if i should major it (canadian if possible but US is fine too)
You should look at a university
Especially local ones, even if you don't plan to apply (tho you should, even if as a match/safety)
They'll tell you what you need to do in HS generally
Then look at nus
Alr wut r u majoring in?
not exactly sure yet, medicine related? more nursing focused or an anesthesiologist
10th grade schedule draft, any suggestions?
Honors Chemistry
Honors American Literature
Honors Spanish 3
AP World History
AP Computer Science Principles
AP Calculus AB (if my request to skip pre calc is approved, otherwise Iโll be put in AP pre calc)
AP Statistics
the issue is that all 10th grade students have a gym requirement, but there is sometimes an option to take gym independently to be able to take another class. In my case this statistics, if Iโm forced to do gym then I canโt take stats. In order to get out of gym I need to email my counselor but I donโt want to be annoying since I already emailed her abt the skipping pre calc thing
Is there a system like if you participate in a certain amount of athletic seasons you get exempted from PE?
I donโt think so
I know a sophomore that did it to be able to take ap classes and band
Then ask your counselor if there is a way to get exempted from P.E.
I know thatโs what I have to do I just donโt wanna be too pushy since sheโs already been very helpful
I mean of course Iโm asking you
I think the counselor would be happy that youโre engaged to your academics
i mean iโd have to look when I get home
ill try and find out
And it is the counselorโs job to help students through
alr Iโll prob email her sometime this week then
Should I take Math Methods or Specialist Maths? (For year 11)
Planning to study medicine (which only needs methods) but if my ATAR isn't high enough then
I will try Engineering (probably Astrophysics), which would need Specialist maths
I have course selection due on Thursday and I need someoneโs advice. Has anyone here done the BT101 course (Grade 9, Open)? And if so is it hard? I am interested in taking it but I am worried that it may break hard.
This course is in Ontario, not sure if itโs in the rest of Canada
BTT1O1 is not really business, but rather about business softwares (all the Microsoft softwares), but Iโm not sure if they provide this course anymore
Alright, thanks for the info. I think Iโll take the course
im planning on studying programm what course should i mostly take?
Hey all Iโm going to be a sophomore in high school September of 2024. Course selection closes on the 21st for me. I just wanted some of your opinions on my choices. Iโm also going into medicine after high school.
Courses:
English II-Honors
World History-Honors
Biology-Honors
Chemistry-Honors
Algebra II-College Prep
Statistics-AP
Spanish I
*Iโm taking AP stats because Iโm a strong writer, and stats in math are my strong point. If the counselor says no to AP Stats, I will switch it out with geometry and drivers education.
If I plan on going to medical school should I take anatomy and physiology or would that be a waste of time
Iโm in high school btw and taking it for dual enrollment
def not just make sure to take bio and APs
bio honors is good, does your school offer medical terminology?
Yes, the class is called medical anatomy and physiology. However, Iโm not eligible to take the course until 11th/12th grade.
I also plan to take AP Bio, AP Chem, AP Psych, AP Lang, AP Stats sophomore year, and possibly AP Calc or Physics like online.
ah, I suggest advancing biology online as it is the most important for medical
maybe do the next bio course this summer so you can have more space for other classes
also try to get a medical internship because those are deal breakers
Oh yeah for sure
I will be keeping up with biology and studying it
I mean hell there is a possibility it will be my major
Itโs either pre med, biology, health sciences, or some bio medical science major.
(Depends on each school I apply to and what their majors are)
great!
Also I posted something in #๐กใacademic-advice
Mind looking at that
Since nobody will answer ๐
I would opt for honors pre calc if unapproved. AP Pre calc is just complete bs, and colleges wonโt even take credit for it really. Save the extra stress tbh. My school has a similar thing with the gym. Except 10th grade your required to take a semester of health. If the request fails to be approved for AP calc take honors pre calc for room for gym.
You also might want to consider if AP calc is approved to remove AP CSP
Itโs not worth it
Like colleges wonโt really take credit for csp
Itโs not like a coding class
Like if you want to code and get hands on with what computer science is take AP CSA
Donโt waste your time with csp and pre calc ap
@toxic bobcat
my school doesnโt have AP CSA we only have CSP
but yeah I know AP pre calc is bullshit and useless
in fact, the reason they wonโt simply let me skip pre calc to take calc is because they just added AP pre calc for the next school year and theyโd โhate for me to miss out on such a great opportunityโ
previous years kids could just study pre calc over the summer but now that they added ap pre calc they think Iโll be properly challenged in that class
which I doubt
my main goal is to take as many AP as possible (which is usually 2-3 for advanced track sophomores, but if I can skip gym then Iโll be able to do 4) so I can get highest gpa possible
I see what your saying
My school is weird asf too
I guarantee you they will push the gym
Wait let me ask you this @toxic bobcat
Is gym required every year at your school?
Like what grade levels is it required at besides sophomore year
?
Weโre required to have 1.0 credits of physical education for graduation. All freshman are put in a 0.5 credit health class, and all sophomores are put in a 0.5 credit PE class
I lift weights and run most days of the week, and I eat a healthy diet. Gym class is completely unnecessary for me
Yeah my school is weird like that too. We are required to do PE twice between 9th and 11th grade. Health is required 10th grade and 12th grade too.
Hereโs an idea for ya though..
Email your counselor and ask if you can do PE junior year instead of sophomore year
It is probably best choice to push it a year if possible
Yes, you will be in a class with all sophomores. Will it help you get what you want though? Yeah.
If the counselor says no to pushing it off. Just wait to hear back about the calculus then make a choice of what to switch out accordingly.
Thing is I actually know 2 guys doing gym โasynchronouslyโ where they just do the gym class at home and receive the credit for it which is what I ideally would want to do. However those guys did it so theyโd be able to do band class so idk if sheโll let me do it just for an extra AP
but Iโll ask later this week
Yeah, I would ask about doing it asynchronous first. If she says no, bring up my idea about pushing it a year.
What do you plan to do after high school btw?
@toxic bobcat
I really think personally taking honors pre calculus is the way to go over AP
then doing AP calc ab your junior year
Which by doing honors pre calc it should free up enough space for gym
Thatโs if she declines the skip pre calc request
electrical engineering or computer science
in college
I would suggest for sure taking AP physics c electricity and magnetism at some point
what if I took AP pre calc but didnโt do the exam in may? so id at least get gpa boost
yeah I wish but we donโt have that we only got AP physics 1
Definitely do physics 1
yeah I will junior
And also perhaps seek out community colleges near you
Have you heard of duel enrollment before?
I think it will depend on the whole gym bs
I just donโt think ap pre calc is worth it
my plan was to do AP calc AB and AP stats in 10th, calc BC in 11th, then a college math course in 12th
Multivariable calc Iโll assume in 12th
Yeah calc 3 or lin algebra
i doubt it since the exam is useless and wonโt give credit
Itโs just worth dropping to honors pre calc tbh
thatโs why iโm gonna do the AP version
He needs room for gym tho
hold up iโll send a pic of my schedule
At least at my school AP classes are 1.50 credits and regular and honors classes are 1 credit
But idk how is school works
The issue is he needs room for gym
So something has to go
I need 7 credits I currently have 6.5. If gym gets removed Iโll have room for AP stats
I just need my counselor to lock in for me
๐
there are 8 periods in the day, one of which is lunch
7 academic credits
This is my schedule for next year
If my counselor says no to AP stats Iโm switching in geometry and drivers education
My school is so weird with the math
it should be stats, but technically right now itโs .5 of gym then I need another .5. But i donโt wanna do that
I wonโt make it to Calc without doubling maths and shit
Yeah thatโs his issue
Gym is enforced
For him
for the most part but thereโs a chance I can get around it
Thatโs what Iโm hoping yea
Iโll email on tuesday
after the long wknd
schedule submissions due by march 1st
Iโm nervous to ask my counselor about AP stats on Tuesday
I already went there once about course selection
my school requires alg 2 before stats
luckily iโm taking that now in 9
She may let me take it concurrently
They allow that with physics Ik
So itโs worth a ask
Other wise Iโll be doing three APs my junior year
Which I donโt want to do
what math u in rn?
oh damn that makes it harder
But Iโm very advanced with stats
Bc im trying to take AP stats over geo this year
geo is probably a requirement on the math path
usually itโs alg 1> geo > alg 2> pre calc> calc
Then doing geo 11th and maybe pre calc, other wise 12th grade pre calc and honors calc
My school doesnโt have an option for it
Like only like duel enrollment shit
if you could do it starting now online you could ask about taking an exam at the end of this year to pass out of it
It would be one per semester
thatโs what I hope to do with pre cal
My school doesnโt do classes full year except APโs
Every class is one semester except APs
Yeah
My school weird asf
even like english and stuff?
Yep
Only core classes
And electives are .5 1 senster
*semester
Eh
Itโs not too bad tbh
I just question how all the material is given
For sure
Which is not beneficial
Oh man
Brutal
Is geo hard btw?
theirs also proofs in geo
which can make or break the subject depending on the person
completely new stuff also
fr
geo is less math focused for me
at least for now
mainly just concepts and stuff to remember
Just a random question, do you think AP chem and normal physics in 1 year is too rigorous?
I saw my older brotherโs schedule
uh
depends on the person and other classes you have
teachers too
but you could do it
might look bad for normal physics idk
Ok ๐
is AP world history worth it?
No itโs not especially if you have them in separate semesters
If I could go back Iโd take it cause regular world was way too easy itโs worth it
Is world history even worth it for pre-med students
so Iโm planning to be a business major with the current dilemma
AP bio is 2 credits, compared to Honors Bio which is 1 credit
Due to this extra credit being taken I donโt have space for classes like accounting, marketing, investment/banking (half year classes, so with the freed up space I could take 2 of the following)
Is it worth it to do AP bio over the alternatives?
My friends told me AP bio due to the gpa boost and diversifying my academics. But Iโm not sure.
i would say so! i took it and i donโt regret it. i got a 4 after not taking it the first year and no studying at all.
it honestly depends on what your goals are. i would try and take as many AP classes as possible, but it just depends on your individual goals.
if your plan is to be a business major, take courses that count towards that. although AP bio would give you that boost, is it more important than showing your preparedness for your major?
if you want a GPA boost, then shoot for AP bio.
it depends on the year youโre in. im currently taking AP chem and it definitely has its challenges, but i wouldnโt say itโs too rigorous to not take it with a regular physics class. i took honors physics my first year and it was pretty easy.
Senior Year:
AB Calc
Dual Enrollment General Physics
AP Stats
Dual Enrollment English
Dual Enrollment Microecon
Research Class on Quantitative Social Science with PhD
I am shooting for Boston college Georgetown, please ping me.
Tyy
Is AP Bio or APUSH harder overall?
depends on ur strength
and teacher
Bio was way easier for me because Iโm good at it but apush isnโt bad
depends on school and teacher
honestly it depends on your preferences, effort, and teachers. both of my teachers sucked for both classes, but i found apush to be easier since im more into history.
Alternative to ap stats?
My school only has honors
Why alternative, jsut curois?
Ap on top
so itโs like a tradeoff, which is why Iโm confused.
Because I could still take those classes in 11th and 12th.
honestly if you have access to those classes later into your HS career, choose what feels right in this moment. if you think youโll do better right now by choosing to take AP bio, then take it.
i know itโs difficult. you donโt have to make a choice right now.
Senior Year:
AB Calc
Dual Enrollment General Physics
AP Stats
Dual Enrollment English
Dual Enrollment Microecon
Research Class on Quantitative Social Science with PhD
Is it good for Georgetown?
i think colleges mostly tend to have a holistic approach on college apps, so im not sure about it. it would be good if theyโre some of the most academically challenging courses in your curriculum.
since the acceptance rate is so low, it would honestly depend on your major.
not at all! i feel like it would boost it more than anything. choose what works best for you.
Tyy
Is this good for sophomore year?
English 2 honors
Math 3 honors
Pre calc honors
Chemistry honors
AP Gov
AP Psych
Health science 1 ( my major for my school)
Orchestra 3
is Dual enrollment better than ap or does it not matter
right now i have 6 aps will be 7 or 8 total for next year if i do dual enrollment, and 10 if i don't
Are my classes good for my upcoming sophomore year?
AP Lang
AP World
AP Stats
Calc Honors
Chem Honors
Spanish 3 honors
Acting 2
Engineering 2
dawg what
?
Pretty good assuming you're going to be a junior
No other way bro DE is easier than AP
Yea
Plus no standardized test at the end of the yr
Sure
But why take an AP and then not take the exam
Stupid
The class itself is hard
Why take ap csp in the first place
Uh why not
Then just DE
So?โฆ
I mean you can
Its ez
No cuz i wanted to take ap
Its better for colleges
Unless youโre applying to your instate public school
Yeah but it wouldnt make sense to not take the exam
Mo bro
Why do you say that lol, again give me proof that thats the case
I took CSP
So what its still an Ap class
And they r offering free AP Exams
Youll get something
Honestly my path is very confusing I took algebra 1 and half of geometry in 8th grade, in the summer i took the other half of geometry and then right now in 9th grade I'm takign algebra 2 and AP precalc in the same class. My school keeps changing it's mind on what class i'm allowed to take next year so I just put one.
Yes if you get a 4 or 5 if looks good
Regardless of whether or not you get credit
Well
Should I DE precalc over rhe summer
If its easy why not take the test
So i can take AP Calc instead of precalc?
Sure
DId a lot of other people get F's?
Skill issue fr
Should i take an extra AP during my lunch just for the heck of it or is that stupid
How would that work
sorry, yeah I would just trade out the lunch period for that class. I wouldnt have lunch anymore
๐
are u trying to dehumanize urself
wait lunch is a period
thats wild
what do others do for lunch? how is it not a period
lunch is just a standardized thing bro
๐ญ
๐ญ
what ru taking next yera
like full class schedule you mean
Honors 10 English
oop forgot that you cant press enter to tab down
yep
Honors 10 English, APUSH, Honors Alg 2 or AP pre calc(im in a odd situation rn), Chem Honors, Study hall for the lab days, Physics Honors, Intro to Comp programming, lunch, Spanish 3 Honors
What all are you taking next year
its called starving yourself and, as it stands, doesn't sound like a great decision for my general health๐
uhh
AP Lang
AP Gov/Econ
AP Calc AB
AP Stats
AP Physics I
AP environmental science
Cambridge As Design Tech
Some other college courses prob
senior year
daaang stacking out like that. What is that last one about

Oh yur PE isnโt there
Did u find a way to get exempted?
looking sweet man. especially if they approve the class
I think so ye
itโs basically maxed out for 10th at my school, it is not possible to do more
unless youโre a crackhead or smth
unless? you gonna let that slide?
jk๐ญ
Plz let that slide
Yeah I need to have a bit of a life
from what i heard ap computer science principles is pretty easy so iโm hoping theyโre right
lucky that u have ap comp princ
My school only has comp sci A
sam3e
next year is actually the first year we have it it just got approved recently
Thatโs great
I live near carnegie melon though so my school has a class through the school which is pretty cool
Honors civics
Honors english
Honors Biology
Honors Alg 2/Trig
Spanish 2
Health and career (required for 9th)
Engineering and 3d model elective
prob just health
half year health half year career readiness class
oh that makes sense
nice, I wish my school offered ap to 9th graders
yeah thatโs basically what iโm trynna do
For me
Hon eng 9th
Hon alg II
Jap II
Health/Ethnic (sem)
Bio
PE
your school offers japanese
Yeah Iโm very happy
we only got spanish and french
Oh wait my moms callin
Japanese is crazy. I wish they offered mandarin at my school
Are u korean?
I wonder if I can take physics classes at a local college now that I think about it
if ur school does dual enrollment maybe
what exactly is that
Might have to look into that
I plan to do math dual enrollment in 12th grade since Iโll finish my schools math classes in 11th
W man. what are you looking to major in
niiice. what did you get on the SAT
I took psat earlier this year and got 1200
When I take it next year tho iโd have actually studied so it should be around 1500
ye Iโm taking engineering elective this year
WWW
Good
My school only has physics C
My schools physics teacher is supposed to be a genuis or something. He graduated early and got a degree in Physics from Carnegie Melon. He won a bunch of awards and stuff and for some reason ended up teaching
Are u korean?
Yes
Same lmao
In korea
my sister's maths teacher is a graduate of IIT if you've heard of it
๊ทธ๋ผ ํ๊ธํ์ธ์ฉ?
but she's an hs maths teacher
๐ญ ๐ญ ๐ญ

have fun at 10th grade
i'm planning 2
AP World and AP comp sci A

Americans?
there's a guy i know who takes 4
ap geo ap world ap comp sci
and i forgot the 4th
take those 2
3 aps in freshman?
which ones?
bruuh
my school doesn't allow aps in 9th
btw u wanna see my elective planner thing
i think i'll drop apush if i had to
it's just a plan
so it might alter
i'm in 8th grade now so lol
i'm kinda worried abt high school
especially english
my english sucks
and i still signed up for hon eng
i immigrated at 2019
so 5 years ago
rlly?
thx
u have honors eng in middle school?
i wish we had
that's cool
we only have normal
huh?
u have that many choices?
In middle school??
oh i though ib was like
honors or smthing
IB MYP?
i never heard of it
Isn't IB an equiv to AP in any case, MYP is just a lower level for middle school
but it looks good
well for middle school it cant be equated to AP
since AP is generally (cough precalc cough) college level
๐
ok lol
Doxxing is real
that's kinda private so ya
I don't think they would serve classes harder than APs in middle school
oh
DP is what you do in HS
same thing
is it not possible for an hs to offer an IB DP course at 9th or 10th grade

ok fine
11th and 12th
so its myp until 11th?
how much choice is there in the IB curriculum for you, like just subjects?
Aren't there choices?
Subject groups?
yeah its pretty restrictive compared to yall's system
well as you know, im not american, we get no choice in 10th grade here
we have 0 choice besides that of second langauge
