ohh ok
and then used that math to create a pasta bridge that would hold a predicted amt of mass
this was mainly resume building
it wasnt as fun as phillips
but i still enjoyed
lol the two summer programs were between the last two summers
99% of the time, yes
should i make my ecs relating to CS so i can go to a CS degree in highschool (so i have a advantage) and then transfer to my desired major or make my ecs relfect whatever interest I have rn and do that major
summer program is good if you can speak on its impact, but colleges know that they can be a pay to join thing, unless theres a difficult application process
mhm
the thing with cs is that if you dont enjoy it, you might make urself hate ur high school years
so if youre really passionate about smt else, and you can get rlly good ecs for it, i'd say go for your passion
yea
theres still a sizable amt of people from ur school that dont end up majoring in cs right?
yea some people
it will be harder to get interships obviously
if i dont do a cs degree
the summer between sophomore and junior year and the summer between junior and senior year
freshman year i was remote
and didnt do anything
no ecs
no working out
this was still covid, but schools had reopened
was the class of 2024 the class where they had the 8th grade year cut off
yes
hey guys, I'm a sophmore in highschool and I was wondering whether or not to drop my language course so I can take on additional classes related to my area of interest. Im looking into going into business, so will taking more years of lang help me in apps?
okay thanks, i thought so too
however I have the option of taking AP weighted biz classes over honors-weighted language classes
my gpa would be higher that way
How many years of this foreign language have u taken already
2 years, thats whats required from my shcool
Do at least 3
And thats it
Most colleges prefer at least years
But dont do more than 3 since you’re going to do business
It wont help you
but the other biz class i was gonna replace spanish with is AP so it would be a GPA boost
Dont worry about the gpa boost
Weighted doesnt matter
Unweighted is what colleges will care about
Theyll look at your coursework and the rigor
What grade are you in
10th
You could try to squeeze in the language in 12tb grade when it wont really matter
But thats something you and your counselor should decide on
But definitely do at least 3 years of language
my councelor said you can do whatever with langauge and that it doesn't matter too much
yeah for sure, if i dont take next year I'll take it 12th
👍
does taking ap art history count towards history credit or just arts credit?
No
ah okay thanks man, is it like that for all schools?
It's considered fine arts
I guess so
Collegeboard says AP Art history is an art AP
So it usually flies
❤️👍
Any opinions on this schedule?
thats a very difficult schedule wow
AP physics and AP chem same year!
But it's a really good schedule
Yea
My teachers were trying to make me not do it
Always trying to manipulate children
Ok
Oh yeah questionn... does honors band stick out in college apps?
Nope.
oh...
If u get into ECs for music then yes
Maybe all state
really cuz i take band
i take band but im also in the marching band
I might try next year for All State
Yea I'm in marching band and Indoor Percussion
wow thats impressive
Wait so basically our shcool made wind ensamble AP weighted.. so should I continue band next year?
hey
soon I will be in my junior year of high school
and will opt for commerce stream
should I take IP as an optional subject?
if I want to apply for IVY LEAGUE
which one will be better, maths or IP
Math
Is taking AP Chem during 10th grade a wise choice
P.S. I did not take any prior chem classes before this
Also science is not my intended major
oh
If u don't have prior experience it will be rough but the credit might go to a science class at ur college
Its a challenging AP for sure so consider ur schedule during and after school and how academically able you are
It is better to get an A In honors than a C in AP
Again many factors vary I would talk to kids who took it at ur school
U probably need previous chem experience
Did you take it?
I suggest taking Honors and then AP. I am currently in AP Chem and took Honors Chem last year. Life is 10x easier
Or I could go to AP bio , I’m in bio honors rn
Also can you give me a rough estimate on when to take AP stats
My school doesn’t offer it so I’m considering dual enrollment
I’m in 9th grade rn, ima do AP bio next year, I’ve heard that it’s a good class, idk about where you are though
Interesting
If you have a summer option to take chem then do that
Ik what a lot of people at my school do is take chem over the summer and then are allowed to do ap chem in 10th
I dont need to take chem over the summer
I can automatically take AP chem next year
the problem is the difficulty
Yeah so I am recommending over the summer to lessen the difficulty
You could do AP bio but that’s if you wanna go into something bio related
business major
so it wouldnt really matter what science ap's i take
Oh ok
Hi I'm a junior high school student that's studying in a university, I have access to college learning materials but not the ppt and stuff, only the name of the lessons
Does anyone want the lesson topics?
@worthy maple Your message(s) have been flagged as spam and have been removed.
I know it's pretty useless for those already in college
But might be useful for highschool students who want to self study but don't know the lessons
Are you studying at SNU?
I wish but sadly no 😅 I'm planning to tho not sure if I pass
If it's confusing, my university also includes kindergarten all the way to College and I'm in JHS but we have an online website that's accessible to all students
That's why I'm able to see the lessons in the college department
😅
Hey I have a question. Do you guys think it’s okay for me to take physics next year and AP physics the year after and AP physics BC. I’m a freshman and wanted to know your inputs.
Hell yeah I’d you’re looking to be an enginner
I would also do double science classes
JHS as in Jordan High School?
Sure
no
Oh
It means Junior High School
Oh
Aka Middle School
ye
What course do you want to request?
Are you from Seoul?
no 😅
Um, what courses are there?
I'll dm if you don't mind?
But it's basically just
Buissness
And a couple engineering related stuff
It's loading
But I sent emm
Well
Looks like I cant
Could you dm me the business stuff?
its bc u have to send friend request
as an 8th grader, im looking to attend to pre college programs or summer programs. does anyone know of any recommended programs i could pursue?
Yeah
I got this recommendation by my teacher to present with her and a few other students at a college, should I go?
Hello guys 8th grader here, how worth it is Language classess? In my curriculum Spanish 1-3 are unweighted but Spanish 4 and AP are weighted. Is it important take all possible weighted class for valadictorian chance?
they are worth it
my curriculum is the exact same and im in 8th grade too
colleges really find languages good on your application
im debating whether or not to take HN Spanish 4 in junior year
ok thanks
if i skipped a year of two of a language, would it show on my application?
It depends for different universities, some prefer 2ish years of a language
while there are top colleges which prefer like 4 years
well I start in 8th grade
like form 9-12 grade
ok
is there language class after Spanish 5
because at this point, I have nothing after 5
i dont think theres anything after 5
I don't believe so? I mean we don't have it...I would like to explain in more detail but I am taking French, they are probably differnet
valedictorian without any language looks worse than top 5% with 4+ years of language
im taking Spanish 1 rn in 8th grade, should i take till Spanish 4 HN or just go till graduation requirements and stop in 10th?
hmmm
I def know some ivy leagues rquire all 4 years...it really dpends on if you have an idea of hwat you are gonna apply to
are there any college students here
no
I have seen quite a few, i gotta check if they are online
what grade
I can only take AP GOV AND TWO OTHERS
Sophomore
what’s the 2 others
what can you take is the important question
APS offered in 10th grade at my school
- AP Research
- AP Seminar
- AP CSP
- AP CSA
- AP GOV AND POLITICS (required)
- AP EURO
- AP WORLD
- AP MICRO
- AP HUMAN GEO
@wintry sleet @polar plaza
um
damn u got a lot
no science?
ap hug is ez I heard
Yeah that’s one of the ones I wanna take
You’re reading my mind 💀
Those are the ones I already wanted to take lmao
AP micro AP human geography and AP gov
nice
And then the others
Freshman year:
Honors Biology
Spanish II Honors
Honors Algebra II
Honors World History
Honors English I
Fitness and Wellness I
Foundations of Innovations I
Introduction to Law & Legal System
Introduction to Business
Introduction to Informational Technology

AP Physics 1: Algebra-Based
AP Calculus BC
AP World History
AP English Literature and Composition
AP Psychology
AP Seminar

if u have an extra slot maybe comp sci for fun
Nah 😦
nice schedule
bro 💀
dang
very rigorous
Top colleges want to see that
bro better be study guru
7 aps in senior year is gonna be tuff
fr 💀
Does AP Calc BC or AP Calc AB look better for college admissions?
im taking 4 aps now, 5 next year
well bc is harder
depends on your grade
AP Calc BC is AB with an extra unit
you would rather get an A in AB rather than a B in BC
so
ye
hmmmm
Question V1 or V2 for high school courses
V1
any reason for that?, a lot of people have said both
im pretty sure that 10th and 11th grades matter the most for colleges, and V1 is a slight more rigorous than V2 for 10-11
okay thanks
I am genuinely curious, is it normal to have Alg III as a course option? Our school does and I want to know how is it different.
We only have alg 2 and then we go straight to AP Precalc
AB sequencing BC makes no sense
never heard of it, at my school most people go alg2 to precalc
AB and BC are not meant to be sequenced
it's a common thing in many schools to have ab as a prereq to bc
its not logical though
its just a way to make BC easy on you but you spend 2 years on calc when you should spend 1
because AB is within BC so its just retaking the class but harder
its like taking (class) on level then talking (class) advanced
same content but one is harder
its possible no classes are offered past ab and bc and they need 4 math classes
well it depends on how many years the student is advanced
and district advancement policies
and math requirements
yh i agree
forcing ab before bc is dumb
encouraging it is the right call imo
but if youre confident in urself you should be able to skip
my school requires ab to go to bc
my school has never offered bc
ima just take ab tho
in our school, we only have that as an option, to take BC, you gotta take AB
Why do they do that
idk
its just illogical and wastes a year
no other math options for us after BC
So you get an elective spot
ig but I don't really need 1
also you need to be advanced to even take calculus
as on level would be precalc senior
yea
i would straight up go to my school and ask why if they required AB BC sequence
OOH YEA DO THAT
its the district
doesn’t make a difference
when course selection stuff happen
“hey counselor y AB BC sequence”
don’t exactly need to go to district people
and chances are its a dumb reason
oh
no problemo
lol
good system
sometimes you can get around "requirements"
like my school officially requires physical science to graduate
but i was able to skip it entirely cuz i made a deal that i would take physics and chem
My junior high school requires “ financial literacy” and “ speech”
financial literacy is a good requirement imo
at least from the name of it
and i agree with speech too
Yep, those do make sense
But we have this thing
Where we have two different classes “reading” and “ English” are separate classes
Yes
Both are year long courses
So you take then at the same time
All year
I don’t get it
What’s the point of making us swich classrooms?
Reading and English teachers both have English degrees
English is more grammar focused with more writing
Reading is more literature and actual reading focused
My school does the IM system. So in IM3+, you get introduced to stats. You can take AP stats right after that or do Calc
If you rlly want to take Ap chem next year, before the school year starts, make sure you go over the course material for honors chem
i am an upcoming freshman and i would have finished algebra 2 by then and i was thinking about taking ap physics my freshman year
thoughts?
is ap physics 1 really hard
like am i making a bad decision
cause i would also be in the ib program but as a freshman and sophomore, i would only be pre-ib which so they let us use those years to challenge ourselves academically
before actual ib
unless you're some mathematical genius
bad idea
take pre calc
ap pre calc
well
pre calc honors
since you learn more in pre calc honors
?? Physics 1 is not merely math, but conceptual. That’s what mostly makes it hard. Giving you some credit by saying that CB making physics algebra based makes it more tedious
what about IBYMP
Why take AP physics freshman year? I wouldn’t do that to yourself, freshman year is the year to find out who your are, not be drowned by work.
But to answer your question, you should have a very good background in Algebra II and basic concepts of Calculus and don’t mess up the conceptual parts of physics
Hey! I’m also an upcoming freshman and trying to figure out courses. I want to be able to do AP classes because my school weighs their GPA, but I also want to do electives (specifically art and home ec). Would I be able to do both? I won’t lie, I’m not sure how courses in highschool work, so I’m just trying to figure out what I should do to have fun and get the highest GPA I can manage comfortably. Hope this makes sense!
what is your overall schedule u were thinking
I haven’t thought too far ahead if I’m being honest. The first AP class that comes to mind for me is AP English. I’m currently in pre-algebra so I should be able to take algebra one next year.
AP English?
I haven’t spoken to the guidance counselor there yet, but I’m pretty sure that’s what it’s called - I might be wrong. My parents said they’d email the guidance counselor at the high school around next week, so I’ll probably message again if/when we do that. Just wondering if I should look into anything before we talk with the counselor or whoever else we end up contacting.
Unless your school is different AP English is not a thing. There is AP English Literature and AP English Language, and those usually taken in 12th and 11th grade respectfully. You would most likely want to take English I Honors or Pre-IB English I
Okay! Good to know - thank you! I think I mixed some stuff up tbh.
Don’t worry
You can do AP Human Geography
And maybe AP CSA/CSP
That was my school so
rlly?
its a niche AP
i thought it was the other way around
interesting
schools prioritize useful APs like calc, chem, eng lang and all of the common ones before niche APs like art history, HUG, seminar etc.
whats your opinion on ap bio? i took bio but not chem yet
and i took alg 2
what major you think
cause i was thinking about doing the course online (just because i find myself learning better online
pre med
or like stem
one of the two
wide enough of a range that any science AP would be practical
but im wondering if its even worth it to take ap bio online cause i may take bio or chem HL when i actually entered IB
but it depends on specifics
How dis look
it looks like you're going to give yourself a deathwish lol
your doing AP Physics, good luck
Any Canadians here? This is my selection for Grade 11 with one spare. All university level except for engineering and history bc only College/Uni is offered. Is this good for someone planning to do engineering in university.
I wanna major somewhere in the business field, is psych or Spanish better to take? (I know their like completely different classes but pls lmk)
Probably psych
But spanish is also good to learn
both of the ap english classes are pretty difficult, so speak with your english teacher as well as the ap english teacher to make sure you are up for it
ap english is usually not taken in freshman year
they are both workload-heavy, with deep analysis skills needed
If u were to take an English AP, do AP Lang as that is more accepted than lit.
Anyone in AP World History?
im sry the math is not mathing
nvm i thought u said pre calc
APHUG is a fredshman designed courwe
upcoming freshman in high school and im wondering what yall think of my schedule?
ap computer science,
principles of biomedical sciences honors,
Spanish 1,
and then the four required classes, biology, pe, algebra, english
planning on working somewhere in the medical field, thoughts? ❤️
also how hard is ap computer science?
sounds great, i think ap comp sci should not be too bad even if u dont have any coding experience
If I were to take AP Comp Sci Principles in senior year with like the knowledge of Python, would I struggle or no? It’s says it’s a intro college program
AP CSP has some algorithms and basic CS knowledge stuff. The only reason to take it is a GPA boost, there is no way to struggle in it unless your teacher is horrible
Is AP Stats really necessary if you are maybe trying to major comp sci
no?
Nothing is necessary
an extra AP is good, but never necessary
Don't they say that comp Sci majors need a strong foundation in math
Like taking ap calc
Or ap stats
yeah but AP is above HS level, it would be smth taught in the college course
You need like calculus maybe for cs if you're doing a mainstream course which has maths
So
you don't need it, Ive already said that
do you have any other APs you could take instead? APs never hurt for apps
I was thinking about doing calc next year but need to take pre calc before that. Should I take pre cal over the summer or would it be too much
If its the only choice, it might still benefit your app, but if you dont like it and there is a more preferrable topic
Already have I'm just thinking in terms of if it s actually usefull or not
Usefull for college, with a course in CS? No, probably not
Usefull for apps? maybe
Why do u think that (just curious)
Cus you don't need to know about statistics for cs
and most college courses dont have it, when talking about CS
so the credit wouldnt really help unless its a very specific college
CS courses bundle calc
Yuh
Yea thats what I have been trying to figure out
Question. How different is the American courses compared to western/international formats?
Pretty
Like how do programmers implement calc concepts into daily coding and stuff
They dont
Tbh most stuff in ap courses will be useless.
Programmers dont worry about how an app is working under the hood, at least for any lower level besides the programming language itself
Wdym? Are you moving to the US?
now you do have very low level languages that are still used in very niche circumstances that it might help to know that stuff (maybe)
This is just because I don't have any personal experience in anything earlier than C
and even on the level of C
I dont even know C well
No, I just read about it. Plus I am considering international flight schools. So just wondering about how good the lead up is. So I can understand how serious the studying is etc.
international flight? as the commute?
From what I've seen, the curriculum is on par but with more choice for the electives
It also varies a lot
From elite private schools with mandatory college level coursework and public schools which have 0 APs and stuff
No flight schools. So like flight colleges.
What is that
If I haven't made my curiousity about them clear alr
I guess so
Don’t you know what flight schools are,
Why does high school english matter for learning to fly
Okay thanks,
Hey everyone so in sweden I have to choose on what I want to do in my second year of high school. I have the choices of either study for engineering where I have to the courses Maths 4 in the second year, half or Maths 5, half of special math and Physics 2.
In my other choice to study to become probably a developer not really sure I have to study, Entrepreneurship, Digital making 1, Programming 2 and webbserver programming 1. I'm stuck since everyone is choosing the engineering route. Would like some advice
Hey so I'm in calculus ab rn (planning to take an next semester) and I was wanting to take Physics next year. Physics C Mechanics be good or would Physics 1 and 2 be better
Do you not mean AP?
I'm a sophomore in APES right now and I already took Living Environment (basically biology) and Earth Science. I want to go to MIT but the only other science courses my school offers are regular and honors chemistry, some health science courses, and some forensic science course, no physic courses.
What should I do?
There is no AP Phy 2 is there
Yes
there is, AP Physics 2: Algebra Based
you dont need to take any specifc APs to get into MiT, ECs and taking as many APs as you can is more imp
only one AP science course in my school tho
ap electives and english count too
alright then
They wont count for credit, but neither will bio if you take a chem course
actually english might
yeah i was planning on taking both AP english courses since I think those count
They boost your GPA, so class rank, and they also boost the weighted GPA MiT would calculate in house for you, yes
Hi can someone help me my css profile payment is failing I don't know for what reason I even tried using different cards for payment . Has this happened with someone else?
why do the CSS
Well I am want to apply for financial aid that's why
Idrk about financial aid but im p sure people do fafsa stuff
Is CSS just beyond FAFSA or an alternative to it or smth
you need css and fafsa
fafsa is coming late this year, but you should try to get it done asap
Fafsa is for people from the USA only I think
css is used to determine financial need at many schools
doesnt FAFSA have international options
huh
i mean like
i remember looking at the beggining of the form
and it had the option to set country
I am applying to MIT they have just CSS for international students
Unrelated but what r ur ECs like
just askin
havent rlly looked into Financial aid yet, only in sophomore
Maybe if data science or smth
does it matter if I don't take 3 consecutive years of language? Like if I skip 11th grade language and do it again in 12th?
I can't decide whether I want to take biology, engineering or legal studies as an accelerated course does anyone have some advice?
Which is more beneficial AP Lit or AP Lang?
i live in morroco and i am currently at 10th grade, will participating at the maths imo next year (11th) and hopefully qualifying for the national olympics give me a higher chancr of getting into us colleges
Lang
What are good extracurriculars for medicine in highschool, to show colleges intrest?
I'm registering for next year's classes (senior year) and would appreciate any inputs
I'm not sure what I wanna do a job or study I'd college, but I want to take a science class which would either be Ap physics or ap Chem
debating taking both but I'd probably die
I'm in calc rn so physics might be a good choice
but also Chem is more applicable to other majors so that might be a good choice
My mom’s an English teacher (she was my English teacher for about 3 years due to Covid and a teacher shortage) and she’s the one who recommended some kind of AP English course (which, I just realized, is why I got the name wrong. She hadn’t elaborated on the courses at the time, so I just thought that was the name.)
I’ll make sure to check in with my current English teacher sometime soon! Thank you:)
Good to know! Thanks!
Guys should i do chem honors or ap physics 1
If i do chem honors, during junior year i can do chem ap
Keep in mind im planning to major in cs or electrical engineering
So pls help
Can u not do both?
Dont have enough space to do both
Im a freshman and im choosing couses for next year, what is an easy history/social studies ap class for sophomores
Hi yall, I'm a freshman in high school and we all just got the card to pick our classes for next year and I'm gonna take Honors Algebra 2, Honors ela 10, ap world history/geography, and chemistry for the requirements. For main electives I'm deciding on ap physics 1, Spanish 2(maybe 3), and ap environmental science, but for alternative electives, I'm only sure of taking ap psychology because it's the only other offered ap I could take since the only ap offered at my school for sophomores are ap physics 1 & 2, ap environmental science, ap psychology, ap csp(I'm taking this class right now), and ap music theory(but almost nobody ever signs up for this), so does anyone have a recommendation for what I should put for the other 2 alternative electives for me to take? And does my class choices look good?
ap physics 1 100% it aligns with electrical engineering
then take ap physics c
which is electrical stuff
ap physics 1 and ap psyc
easiest social studies/history ap?
ap gov is easy ive heard
Yeah but I already put ap physics 1 as a main elective and ap psychology for the first alternative elective
human geography but its rarely offered
government too yes
highly recommended for STEM majors
but you don’t have to take it
u can take it in college
but recommended to do ap stats
what is easier AP human geo or AP comparative government and politics (both are offered at my school)
Human Geo, but if it’s your first AP, it may feel a bit tough for like 1-2 months
Should I take Econ & Pers Finance over the summer or doing the school year?
Is APUSH or AP Bio harder/more work?
APHUG
is a ap designed specifically for frehsman year
no
they dont give aid to foreign students
summer
bc guess who funds the tax money for it
and guess who recieves it
mindblowing ik 🤯
I think I got my electives down
honnors math and science school:
Ap biology or accelerated biology
Orchestra
Normal school:
honor Society
Theater
Orchestra
This is an update btw
How bout dis schedule 4 next year?
can you guys help me for selection in 10th grade classes?
Help on what classes I should take ( Blank spaces are not selected yet) Math and ELA are finalized
9th finalized aswell
Sophomore?
Rn yes
This is for next year for junior year
AP Pre Calc ain't nothin special
It's rlly just a GPA booster, since colleges give zero shit about AP Pre Calc
Also u learn less compared to honors
Can someone help me with this
Because a lot of the electives my school offers is pretty trash
I should take summer courses tbh
Should I take ceramics over the summer as an art credit since I might go to a college in California?
In 3 years...
this looks good
summer courses are a lot of stress and are very time consuming so if you have space in the school year take that course thenn
Do you have any possible recommendations for the 2 empty elective slots?
what are your optiosn
bc its brand new
Ok thx
stop what is math 3 😭
I'm also a freshman currently, and just to let you know, ap csp is pretty easy,(in my opinion) so you should be fine, but I've heard ap world is a crap ton of reading
plz help im doing ap comp sci prin work and i am strugglinggg
maybe bc my teacher doesnt know how to do anything herself and assigns random code.orgs
Which unit?
No projectstem or collegeboard???
im not. taking the course
but shes giving us the work from the course
its unit 2 the internet from codeorg
What class is this for then
exploratory comp sci
Oh
nvm its
Unit 7 - Parameters, Return, and Libraries in AP comp sci prin in code.org
plz tell me u did it
My ap csp is using projectstem
oh
So it's completely different...
I don't think so, my school been offering it for sometime now I think
My math teacher just told me that juniors that take ap pre cal are students that took regular algebra 2 in sophomore
AP pre calc
huh
the course literally debuted this year
Sorry I meant ap pre cal
yall literally look it up
I'm in the southwest dude
AP pre calc literally realeased this year
Idk man
maybe honors
Maybe my teacher lied to me or something
Yall got lucky with ap precalc
Looking over the curriculum it's the same aa my honors class
Literally just a year late for me
ya ppl say honors teaches more
They start the class next year for most juniors/small amount of sophmores
for our school its sophmore
and freshman
my friend is taking it freshman
but i take it sphoore
Cool
Would an ivy care about what high school endorsement I take?
lol
Wdym
High school endorsement like sports?
Please elaborate 😅
ya no fr
An endorsement is basically a series of classes that you take that lead you to a career. Like you would endorse in business, they would make you take business classes all 4 years
Only business?
No, all subjects
umm yea honestly i think they would care
I see so like for 1 period each year you take a business class
Yeah
And do you start it freshman year to senior?
Mhm
Okay what are you thinking about taking
if you choose a siries of coiuses (in ur example buisness) u can apply for colleges with a major for business and do ecs related to buisness and if u dont wanna do buisness still apply with that major and then transfer
bc that coursework will give u a advatngage
but whatever carrer ur courses reflect PLZ dont apply for any other major unless u have ecs to show ur interest
I honestly think that's kinda neat
i choose the IT courswork in my school meaning i will have 1-2 it elecitves soo if i dont like IT thats my plan
Yeah, I want to do Law for college. But my school is silly and doesn't offer anything for law. So I was thinking to take cosmology to get something out of my time, because I can graduate with a license. But my parents think I should take Entrepunurership to do something "Business Law" related
Yeah I side with ur parents on this one
Law generally requires speaking and management skills
So that wouldn't be a bad idea
yea
Just don't study 4 years of computers or art, wouldn't really make sense
Lol yeah
Maybe take cosmology electives
A semester or two
Make sure u enjoy hs
do business
Alr
i think that reflects law
Consider internships at local courts or law firms(no clue how hard or ease to get into) and maybe join the speech team or united nations
UN club or something
Just ways to express ur interests in law
Lol, for some reason our school has nothing for law- like bsfr
oh then start one

Maybe go to a local community College for dual credit: just some ideas since based on ur profile ur not even in hs
mock trials basically
Lol, yeah getting my schedule ready for hs
i have 3 aps selected for HS
Is it bad to only take 1 ap for freshman year? Because thats the only thing my school offers
Alr, I didnt know if that was normal or not to only have 1
yea that is pretty normal
Dang- im so clueless for high school. This is gonna be fun lol
lol i already have the things ready to star a club in freshman for my app
bc we tried to make the club in middle for highschool apps but a teacher sabotaged us
🖕
Lol
Well it's probably better to start a club in high school
we had highschool apps so we needed stuff to put on it
Usually colleges don't give a shit abt middle school
Fr
all of my classes are highschool credits mostly-
so my gpa gets affected
right now i have a 4,5
In middle school?
right now
O ok
My school only offers algebra 1 and spanish lol
Yea I took some stufd in middle school
Im in both
Same
only have 5 credits in 8th
2 in 7th
1 in 6th
right now. mmy gpa is 4,5
excluding q3
Are you in a public school?
yes
dang- yours is on another level
yeap
Damn I should of gone to thomas Jefferson high school, sad my parents can't afford to live in one of the highest taxing counties in the US
Eh shouldn't matter
Number 1 is number 1 I don't care what kind of school
i applied for our regions govornor school i dont think i got in
Walnut Creek HS isn't that one?
Yeah
Is showing interest in a lot of topics negatively affect college decisions? Because I'm interested in law, but there a lot of other things I kinda wanna take, but idk if its better to focus on one
no
No
Carmel is one as well, not fill university but way bigger than most high schools
just leave those parts out of ur app
Include the ones that focus around law?
Yes
Quick tip colleges see interest through classes ad extracurriculars
Alr thats what I was thinking
if i have a F in computer science as a 8th grader am i doomed
And if u have wiggle room then focus on other topics in class and extras.
CS dead
Lol
Market is garbo no one is hiring cause they over hired during covid
yepppeppp
going to apply for a CS major and then switch to my preffered major
Dyk which ivys care about band?
All of them
what
Should I take a language in year 10?
fr??
Im pretty sure ivys like all 4 years of language
what???
At least thats what ive heard
Yes
im gonna drop spanish in 10th
Im taking spanish over the summer all 4 years
but i already took spanish 1 and 2 in middle so if i stop at 4 is that good neough???
Most top colleges want 4 years
So if a top college wants it the most average ones would like it
If u want a challenge take AP or get a seal of bilateracy
i can only choose 1 elective in 11th because the other two they force me to take
Is it bad to take algebra 2 freshman year? Because I might be taking geo over the summer
geo over summer is a good deicison
If u want to be ultra ahead take multi freshman
still dont get how they can fit all of that in 3 months tho so it will be VERY fast paced ( i think)
Multi freshman?
Multiple variable calculus
oh??
Apparently someone in my grade did it in our school district
So there goes my chance of getting into any school he applies to
What in the world is that?
Wat school district is this?
in my school algebra 2 is normal for freshman and AP precalc is advanced
Can't say but he is the 1st person ever
maybe because i go to a segregated school but idk
Basically after AP calc u can take it, mostly only colleges or good high schools teach it
For us only select students can take it plus u have to recommended for it
Mathematical Structures with Discrete Topics is my class after calculos
It varies based on schools
Basically anybody taking AP calc before senior year is ahead most people
Lol, I dont think my school district teachs it
The highest is College prep math- just checked
Idk what my band teacher was on abt, but he was saying taking spanish over the summer like boosts your weighted gpa for ap classes???
I was so confused
the math is not mathing
litterally
idk what he was talking about, but he was like "It lowers the denominator making all your ap weighted classes weigh more"
people
do we think ap lit bio and calc bc in one year is too much
for context im not stem and planning to take 2 other aps on top of this ._,
I think it really depends on how you think you will be able to handle the classes. From my experience (I'm currently in all IB classes, with the exception of AP US History) these classes definitely tend to be more challenging in the sense that there is typically more work. I previously did very well in honors classes so I believed that IB wouldn't be too hard, but I found that the classes are too stressful for me. I know many people who are able to manage their time and plan accordingly, and they are pretty happy and thriving in IB/AP classes. I believe that it really depends on how you think you will be able to handle the classes!
is there a way to test out or gauge how well i would do in these classes? like my school only allows us to accelerate one year for math and im already in that program but i hear that ap calculus is usually a huge jump. i just have like no way of testing out the waters for how big that jump would be ._.
yes
well
at our school its pretty normal to stack hard aps
depends on school overall, teachers, counselors, etc
but like in a general context its a TON
if u enjoy the classes it wont be TOO bad although it'll be taxing
I would not know how AP calculus is as our school mainly offers the IB program, so instead of AP calculus I went into IB Math AASL, which is much like pre-calculus. To gauge how well you might do in these classes I would reccomend really analyzing if you have good study, organization, and time management skills. If you do, then you may be able to perform well in these classes, but if not, I would not recommend taking too many AP/ higher level courses!
our Math IB SL class seems shitty LOL
literally alg 2 pre calc and trig jammed into a class
and x3 harder
I personally love the IBSL math course at my school, but I think that's just because I love math lol. Our teacher is kinda okay, but it is a lot of things jammed into a class.
If I'm an international student going to an American college what do I do about the prereqs for some courses like AP classes
Yes do it
Just take the course equalvent for ur prereqs
there is no ap course preqs but your severly disadvantaged bc u dont have any aps
youll also be in a disadvantage bc u need to be RELLLY smart or rich to get in as a intl student
so if ap courses dont rfelct that gl
Should I take ap economics next year is it bad? I’m in regular Econ and my teacher says I could handle it and im about to fill out the form for it does anyone have any advice if you’ve taken ap economics
Is ap Spanish important if I want to go to an ivy league school?
Are those APs in your school, or are you taking them independently?
US unis only really care about APs as a part of your school courses, and in your transcript, besides credits I suppose
it increases your weighted GPA
Is it worth it to TA?
Urgh I got put into Spanish bc of an incorrect schedule at the start of the year so I'm grinding to get into ap Spanish by senior year
Alr, so last upadate (I hope) I didn’t complain to the school but I politely asked for explanation on why only certain junior high’s were allowed a.m and they said That I could talk to my counselor about this and basically because I have an Issue with scheduling I could most likely go to the school in the morning. Thank you so much!
THERE U GOOO fr
i told u
sometimes a little rebellion is good
wasup class clowns what are we gonna do today yay JK im not class clown btw i stole my sis computer so LOL
btw the chiefs suck LOL
ommggg is michel jordon here yyaayayayyayayaayay7aya yarss
heyy Ghoar Khan im a BIGGGGG FAN! pls tell me what 1000^1000000 plsss its my cristmas gift to know the answert plss
bro got the whole squad laughin
hey guys so my school is doing course selection and im wondering whats the point of taking chem 12 vs chem 12 AP in terms of actual work
if im going to do chem in university
isnt it better to just take chem 12 AP
this is my schools description
the only reason i would think of taking chemistry 12 regular is to boost my grades and look good on uni applications
but it wouldnt help me with the actual chem course in uni
so its like pick your poison
ap looks better than the standard class
is the work load that much harder than regular
i mean it would help with building foundational knowledge
it is substantially more intensive than regular
i did honors chem and ap chem
honors chem covered like half of ap chem
burh
as a major?
if it's something that requires chem, doing ap chem and boosting your placement will be helpful
did you take AP physics aswell
so bascically my advice is to take ap chem if you feel like you have the capabilitty
no, my school doesnt offer
thats the thing
yeah very hard
it’s gonna be like a beast
just be ready
chem is not my forte
what grade
More hard than apush
khan academy's ap chem course is a lifesaver
sophomore
i used it to self study for a 5
bro
should i use high school chemistry on khan academy
to help me with honors
you havent even done stoichiometry
100% if you need any help at all
yeah i did
his videos are so good at explaining chem concepts
nok does your school break up chem into 11 and 12?
yes
thats a canadian school for you
:0
we are litterally touching each other
so better to take regular?
the class moves sooo fast and theres like no time to practice
yes
im not worried about my mental health
im worried about my mark
because it is still a course afterall
the mark is not gonna be great if you got a low B
ap chem is on a diff kinda level
are your other classes gonna be harder net year?
the only "hard" classes next year are AP Bio, and still debating whether Reg physics or AP physics
you're doing ap bio next year too?
finishing differential calculus this year
dangg
does your school have ap calc?
If I’m taking human physiology and human anatomy for dual enrollment should I still take biomed btw I’m tryna be a doctor
@polar plaza should i take physics 12 reg or AP
i have it this semester so i dont know whether ill be good with it or not
we have to sign up by the end of next week
i have had no experience with ap physics, so i cant really say anything
im in honors physics and it's been pretty easy imo
Physics 11 honours or 12
but if i were you id ask ppl at ur school who have done ap physics
my school it's just one year
oh
if you can handle it, it would look good and show your interest in the medical field
everyone does it on there last year, so they all graduated
since you're doing physics honours
if i take physics regular in the summer
would i manage
cuz its like shortened
tbh i think so, esp since you did calc already
it's really not that hard
theres a buncha equations involved
but if youre good with math
i think it should be fine
Should I take AP Calculus BC and AP Statistics in the same year along with AP Chem and Anatomy
yo is this good for Freshman Year
English 9 Honors
Math 2 Honors
Biology Honors
Biomedical Honors
Spanish 1
P.E
Global Studies/Health
Depending on ur route than take spanish 1H
I am gonna take Spanish for college credit
Is that ap anatomy? Is that even a real thing?
nah regular anatomy
K if those r u only AP u should manage
would it be really difficult
Depending on ur study skills and how good ur at
would it be worth to take during senior year or should I just take it easy?
The subject
How many APs did you take last year?
4
U should be fine then
but idk if ap chem is harder than bio

All my friends haven taken it both and it was harder
It just bio was just memorization so people who got 97ish on bio got 92 area in chem
Do colleges care about senior year
Yes
aw man
They want to see an increase or similar rigor (if ur applying to a t100 scholl)
i though college app was during junior year?
No it is start of senior
BUT
It opens July I think and since u know most of the promots(besides the couple schools that change them) u could work on ur college app end of may
Or school year in general
Would it be worth to take ap classes but not take the exam
Will they still give you the grade if you just straight up don't take it at all?
how is freshman hard at all
adjustment
Every senior I know disagrees
