is this a good schedule?
- ap lang
- apush
- pre calc cp
- biology cp
- spanish 4 honors
- health 11
- PE 11
- regional foods
- personal finance
- ap research
now, let me break down the context:
graduation requirements:
- i need 4 years of english (ap lang will fulfill my 3rd year of english, and then i'd take another english senior year)
- everyone needs 4 years of health + pe, and there's no health + PE honors, so i'd just take that, and then PE 12 and health 12 my senior year
- everyone also needs 3 years of math. by technicality, since i completed algebra 1 in 8th grade, i can take pre-calc without having to worry about standardized state testing. for pre-calc, there's CP (college prep) and honors available, and i realistically wouldn't be able to get honors (you usually have to have an A- in the class, and i have a B)
- for biology, there's essentials, college prep, and honors. maybe i could argue for honors if i wanted to, but to be honest, i probably won't, since i'm perfectly happy and content with where i'm at right now. same deal with math, only 3 years, and this would be my third
- for spanish 4, there's only honors, so that's my only option, as i can't take ap spanish lang until senior year. while i've technically met the graduation requirement, it's recommended to take more to look good to colleges
- everyone needs 2 years of us history (taking us history 1 honors right now), and apush would fill that second year
- everyone also needs a year of world history, which i already met (ap world history)
- everyone needs 5 credits of practical arts. since i already took intro to foods, i'm going to take regional foods to cover that (because i honestly need to learn how to cook)
- everyone also needs 2.5 credits of financial literacy, so i'm taking personal finance to cover that
will break rest down in part 2
where i want to go (not a final list, but so far):
- west virginia university
- saint john's university
- university of iowa
- montclair state
- northern arizona u
- asu
- virginia commonwealth u
what field?
- probably a marketing/communications field, as of rn
honors + ap classes taken so far:
- english 1 honors
- ap world history
- english 2 honors
- ap seminar
i also want to go for ap capstone, but i'll worry more about that senior year, since i'm already on track (i passed ap world, and i do intend to fulfill all the requirements)
What grade are you in?
10th, so this is for junior year
oh ok
for my school, they don't offer english APs until junior year so i only took honors
and for us history, i can't take APUSH until junior year, so i moved down to honors, which is the hardest course available for us history 1
for the colleges you want to go to i feel like you are on track right now
the list isn't finalized, but those are colleges i love
you might also be able to aim a little higher because you are taking a couple AP courses in junior year
yeah, i haven't finished researching, those are just the ones i found so far
there's a lot that i'm on the fence for too
ok
but my overall goal is to apply to at least one in-state college, if not, more
which, as of rn, would most likely be montclair state
can you check my schedule for freshman year? Im aiming for most of the ivy leagues and T20s plus a couple safety
sure!
as long as ya gimme context
Schedule:
Geometry HN
Biology HN
World History/Geog HN
English 9 HN
Spanish 2
STEM Design
Health and P.E 9
Graduation Requirements
verified credits are like SOLs
i presume those are honors?
i’d say that’s a really good schedule, but what levels are there for spanish?
theres Spanish 1, 2, 3, 4 HN, 4 DE, and AP Spanish
ok so there's just general spanish for spanish 2? no honors or anything?
alright, so i'd say that's a good schedule, and then stem would just be your elective
the only APs for freshman is AP precalc and AP Comp Sci A
but im not eligible for either bc im taking Geo next year
npnp!
if i were u, id wait until ur sophomore year or so
because by then you should be able to take AP comp sci a
i mean, i took ap world freshman year, but that was because i got recommended for it, which is pretty rare for where i am
fair enough, or you can take ap comp sci principles
provided that that's offered
my school doesnt offer it so
ok
yall got a regional foods class😭
all we got at best is making half decent cookies
but w schedule for a the colleges u want to go in
and ur grade
yeah, our school is pretty good
who wants to rate my senior year schedule and tell me how fucked i am from not very to very fucked
💪
tyty, appreciate it
i feel like I’m the one cooked here💀 my school offers zero ap or honors
Wut us ur school's AP policy?
is*
Sure
AP Lang
AP Physics I
AP Stats
AP Calc AB
AP Gov/Econ (1 sem each)
(2 classes potentially extra - APES, Cambridge Design Tech As, or none of these)
COLLEGE CLASSES (2-3)
- my school is rigorous 😭
If u don't mind what did u get in ur pre calc class
LMAOO we dont talk abt it
last semeester i got a B in ap pre calc
rn i have a B-
but mainly cause
the unit circle quizzes screwed me up
i cannot work under pressure lol
ehh
AP pre calc 💀
it depends on school and teacher
Yes
that isnt my choice 🤡
yes
Is this a good choice of classes for 10th grade as I want to be in pre-med to become a cardiovascular surgeon.
English II Honors
Chemistry Honors
Soccer
AP Seminar
Medical Terminology
Algebra II Honors ? (I may skip this class to take an exam to go to AP Precalculus, is that a good idea?)
French II
(AP Psychology over the summer)
No 😭
.
Are these good courses for Grade 9?
English Hon. 9
French II Hon.
Geometry Hon.
World History Hon.
Biology Hon.
Electives (2):
Concert Band 9
Ceramics and/or Intro to law
I was looking for more science diverted electives but I dont think they open up for Freshman (I will need to check that out) I am Interested in the medical feild
its almost identical to mine except for french and ur electives so I think it's good
depends on your schools requirements tho
im not so sure where to put this but how do i decide on the right engineering field to look into for college
im considering mechanchal and aerospace but idk what i need to consider besides that i like them both
same for me
im just interested in both of them
maybe just look at youtube tutorials or smth like that?
i guess so. im wondering if there is a more proper way to find out but im not too sure. ive started to look at some unis here and there and some offer one or the other so i kinda need to find out what im willing to do. thanks for the reccomendation, tell me if you come across anything
what grade are you in?
rn im in 10th
ik im a bit late but thats because for the past 5ish years i was set for mechanichal
but now that ive done some work on drones and programming ive been considering other fields as well
(sorry for the late response i had to help my parents )
Is taking honor Society worth it? My English teacher thinks it be good for me, I have over 4.0 gpa and already have some teacher recommendations.
Also AVID? I feel like it would be beneficial to learn how to take notes but, I talked to my teachers about it and they said that it wouldn’t really benefit me and I’d probably just be bored because I already have all the skills that they’re teaching but I don’t really feel like I do.
i mean its worth it tho
avid is probably special to wherever you are because i have no clue what that is
Dang, most schools in North America have it
How would I even format that?
well i mean ur not exactly ahead on science or math
idk
Bro 💀
Hello?
thats good enough to get into the ivy league
looks pretty solid, is there an honors french option?
skipping algebra 2 is a good idea
precalc in 10th grade is nice
Alr so I gotta pick courses for 9th grade, which of these are good for a pre med track?
Classes I’m gonna be already taking next year
World studies 9
English 9
Integrated 10/11 ( trigonometry, pre-calculus)
Biology
Financial literacy
Speech
which aps are you allowed to take?
for pre-med, getting deep into bio and chem should be your main target
ap environmental science could be good too, and it's on the easier side as well
I should be able to take ap biology and start normal chemistry
take ap bio in 9th?
oh nice
do you have to take physical science?
That the one I’m taking rn
so I messed that up
so you already signed up for it for next year?
wdym by taking rn?
cuz you said "Classes I’m gonna be already taking next year "
that's confusing me a bit
I messed up😭
Because I took a class early in 7th, I’m ahead in science, and I took that off of the courses that the average ninth graders will take at my school
But I’m currently taking that
And then those classes stated are my required classes
do you have specific requirements
like art credits or smt
because this is the best time to get them done
since you want to save your later years for aps and stuff
Not that I know of
Already stated my required courses
The ones for credit are financial literacy and speech
I think
I’m a little dumb
ok so as long as you fullfill your graduation requirements
you should also pick electives that you find interesting
you dont gotta load everything towards that pre-med track
I got orchestra
I didn’t put that though because it wasn’t required course
gotcha
lol yeah that's what usually happens
but generally speaking just pack your schedule with science classes at the highest level you can handle
and that's as good as colleges need
Thanks!
I really appreciate it
Same advice my counselor gave me
People often tell me not to worry ivy leagues, will eat me up lmao
geometry is a level higher than average for our district. There is no 'higher' science
we dont have AP in 9th grade
You have tomaintain an 93% average to get into honors
dont get obessed over them
but also dont be afraid to shoot for the stars
the reward isnt the ivy
Was honestly planing to be in state
it's your own personal growth in that journey
damn that's a high standard
Don’t get the obsessions over Ivy leages in the first place
Like I get it’s prestigious
go to an instate ivy like me 😄
But it’s really expensive and you could probably get a job with either degree
I’m in Utah and we low key have ass colleges
they have rlly good financail aid if ur parents make less than 125000
Unfortunately, they don’t
Business owners
😭
Yep, near home 2
is that ur goal?
Real
no its not
if u do gerometry in 9th ur kinda sliow
No sure lmao
Different school districts
do u want my acceptance letter or smt
to where
dartmouth
now do u go there
i will be
havent graduated yet
but the thing is, different schools do math differently
you cant make blanket statements
in some areas geometry is normally taken in 10th grade
you prob had good ECs
yea the underfunded ghetto towns
its also a fact that your school background and opportunities are taken into consideration
and you are compared against your own school
not the entire applicant pool
yes
thats unfair tho
that's how people from underserved and small rural schools get into selective places with like 0-2 ap classes
show me proof that they compare against school i dont think so
ur trolling
if u were compared to with ppl in own school then atleast 1 person from every school would get in
i dont think thats how it works
What math r u in?
geometry
that's some wack af logic
so if u could actually defend ur claim u would be able to give me proof
you would need to stand out and demonstrate yourself in that school
it is common knowledge that schools send a school report
why r u giving me a srouce from AP
AP is from collegeboard
do they admit collegr students
collegeboard also runs the SAT
DO THEY ADMIT COLLEGR STUDENTS
im not sure why you are so angry
oml how did u get into darthmuth yet cant answer a simple yes or no question
that i asked 3 times
why are you so adamant
cuz it's an irrelevant question?
if its irrelevent then asnwer it
ur not giving me proof from a college that states they compared u with ur school
The answer is that different school districts have different math levels...it depends on the rigor of their syllabus. Some districts have different requirements for each course level.
yea duh
but u still have a disadvantage if ur taking algebra 1 in 9th or geometry
especially for the ivy leagues
that isn't really true tho for every place ngl
are you so stubborn because you are insecure of your own standings
and afraid of the reality of competition from people from across the nation
my question was if my courses work for a med related pathways
because there are plenty of statistics showing low income households going to top schools
and rural families
which is impossible with your reasoning that they dont have enough APS
are you talking to me...im so sorry if i said something
their like a very tiny percentage
im talking to arctic
so clearly u didnt do debate bc ur not giving me evidence when ive asked 3 times now
you want a statement from
making claims without proof
or on their website its not hard
you specifically want a statement from a college or admissions officer
i said from their website
you cant be giving me college board as a proof as if they do admissions
that is from a college
sorry for jumping in but you arer in 8th grade...you should really take their advice since they are a senior...don't have to oversmart yourself to feel better 🙂
so older means smarter
this perosn can barley debate
👍
but it is scaled as a 4.0
Is this a good choice of classes for 10th grade as I want to be in pre-med to become a cardiovascular surgeon.
English II Honors
Chemistry Honors
Soccer
AP Seminar
Medical Terminology
Algebra II Honors ? (I may skip this class to take an exam to go to AP Precalculus, is that a good idea?)
French II
(AP Psychology over the summer)
um yea
i mean u have the medical thing
i am finding a hard time finding a direct quote because it is such a common piece of information that so many differnt websites have it listed
forgive my delay
r you dartmouth ED?
that is cool, did you pick medical terminology as an elective? I am just curious becasue I am intrested in medicine too
how do you take a exam if you did not study it???
who said i didn’t study for it?
why does that matter?
um it was offered in my school. there is a pathway for med and it is “Princples of health science, med term, health science theory, anatomy and physiology along with 2 period of clinical rotation (a class where you visit areas in surgery and other things)”
@frail flax https://admissions.dartmouth.edu/follow/admissions-beat-podcast/admissions-beat-s4e7-transcript
you want proof
i got proof
dartmouth dean of admissions
podcast with an ex dean of admissions from another school
you said u are
yh
your ED?
can i see
you want to see proof that i got in?
yea
is that enough
what is enough
ohh you got low income aff action
Why does that matter?
proof of sending school report
the kid is mega salty that i proved him wrong
chinese middle class 🥱
ong
idek why u are angry bro
No one cares if you need financial aid
is it cuz u go to a fancy school that got hella APs
No difference at all
😂 ay let’s chill this kid only in 8th grade 😭😂
and now u dont feel like you dont have an advantage?
So am I and I sure don’t act like that
oh but i do
i absoulty do
you just got in bc ur aff acc
cuz a fancy school still does give you an advantage
?
what happened to debating correctly
well you got finacial aid did you not
this is ad hominem yk
half of dartmouth gets financial aid
large proportions of every ivy gets financial aid
do you need a source for this too
aff action is gone
do you also need a source
listen dude the whole time you were being toxic for no reason
true
what's wrong with financial aid bruh
what do you have to gain
ok so yiou asked if i needed a source
Exactly
no i need a source for that
i gave u a source
what part of the source is relevent to ur claimn
your the one who gave it to me
youre the one who asked
No one’s paying over 200k for college
and now im asking you which part
give me the quotes plz
we're not looking at a singular GPA number to help us answer the questions that we have about a student's academic preparation and academic journey
At Yale, we don't really even pay too much of attention to the actual 4.0 number
how abt this
"We're looking for students who have challenged themselves in high school through rigorous courses, whether that's international baccalaureate, advanced placement, whatever rigor is available to students in their particular school or community context."
dont get more clear than that
this is pretty impressive...Dartmouth?
"whatever rigor is available to students in their particular school or community context."
Arctic, you met someone who went to Dartmouth, stop being salty and ask questions that will guide you. And Ryboss… yeah good job.
why do you hate poor people so much
give me a souirce where i said that
i think if we follow this, everyone will be happy
💀
TWISTING my words
uh
are you a millionaire or something to be saying that? 💀
🤦♂️ I was talking to a wall, was I?
i dont think that says "i hate poor ppl"
you've clearly been insinuating that poor people dont deserve the same as those in privledged schools the whole time
well as the person who said that i dont hate poor ppl
when you get emotional you attack with financial aid?
as a non-poor (happy?) i took ap lang
yay for me!
prove i had a emtional attack
want a cookie or something
you're barely controlling your emotions rn
repeating prove it is proof
Someone remind me is this a course selection chat or being salty about someone being in an ivy league chat?
give me proof of that
this is truly dissapointing
this is so funny lmao
truly
i am bright tho
you have been asking for proof for like the past hour, and you already got it
you have a good future
i literallyn have advantage over every class of 28 in this chat rn
and im not gonna hold anything against u
ik u do bro ive seen ur classes
it's insane
woahhh wdym by that\
keep up the work
no you havent
and youre gonna be great
well i have a advantage over you right now
we will never know
because my highschool gpa is a 4,5 and im not in highschool
and i have an advantage over you
can someone help me rn
you posted in this channel and asked for advice between picjing the IT school or the IB
guess what. mine in 8th was a 4.6
ya but thats courses i was gonna take not now
so pls beat that
proof
What makes you so much more smarter then me, because you are in Geo?
Omg no way! So do I!
no i have a higher gpa
Your not special
well are you in ib
oh no, here this lil kid is asking for proof again
arctic, you are clearly talented, but you have yet to learn humility
Ap human geo is ez
your pride blinds you
how do you know that?
it isn’t
well am i wrong
yes
ur not in ib tho
let go of your ego
Did you take it?
Feels pretty ez to me
Sorry if I offended you
All right
Let’s all end this here
If you guys want to bicker like my little twin sisters in 3rd grade, let’s do this. Make a group chat, and just talk as much as you want.
💀
i am taking it
This is course selection we don’t need to be fighting
dw
with what
Sadly already established that and no one has satisfied my wish with that.
mentally because i really don't know what is going on...I just came here to know if my courses are a good start off to high school by someone...I did not expect to see this
Oh uhhhhh
Just put them in here and we’ll see
Should I be student council president again?
Or should I use my extra time in a homework help
like volunterring?
phew luckily i am
I’ve been president seventh eighth year
dangg
AHHHHHHHHHHHH 🤬
Try it in 9th. Trust me tho it will be overwhelming
9th is the best time to try
Your worries match with reality if you i ask me
Yeah
taking a gap is weird
cuz then someone else is gonna take ur spot
and then if you decide to do it again
Right
you're gonna have to fight for the spot
9th the big one tho
English Hon. 9
French II Hon.
Geometry Hon.
World History Hon.
Biology Hon.
Electives (2):
Concert Band 9
Can't choose between a business course or CP ANtonomy and physiology
I am considering Medicine or some sort of science related field (btw we don't have AP as a freshman)
it is
Because you basically lead over the whole student council
You want to do to Med?
yeah
I’ve only leaded individual grades
Nvm you answered my question
but the other people do help you right
How many classes are you taking
7, 9?
ok
Yes, my vice is unfortunately, stepping down tho…
if business isnt needed for anything like a credit req, i would do anatomy
Yeah 8 i believe
since ur going for medical field
rip 😭
hmmm
Can you do Geometry honors in the summer?
i'd still go for it though, it's a good opportunity to build leadership skills
tho what is a homework help?
i can, but its VERY costly...my original plan was to go for a summer course
i dont wanna pay 1000 dollars
for some reason
what 😭
idk why
Spend the last 30 minutes of the day getting help on homework
can you do algebra 2 over the summer?
oh so instead of a club you do homework
no idea
Is there summer enrichment programs?
Do you have the option to take that course early?
🤔 I would do it to boost yourself in Math. I regretted it as I in Geometry Honors this year as a 9th grader, and wish I was in Algebra II Honors
a grand is a good bit of money though
It is
is geometry the most advanced you can be?
not really? I mean I do have the grades to enter the geo course in summer, but a 1000 is too much tho i feel like
Pre Calculus as a 9th grader is for me
geo is 1 level higher and algerbra II is 2 levels higher
no but like for advanced students
And I have a friend
what's the norm
cuz like at my school the regular kids are alg 1 9th grade, and the advanced ones are geometry
Yeah the Algebra II is advanced...Geo is only Accelerated
Do you live around Katy?
is there a lot of people in algebra 2?
for me yeah 😭
😭
i thought it was only a Katy thing
wtf is katy
no well for 8th grade Geo is the highest
TX
oh
It is “an edge city that is on the metropolitan area of Houston”
i would ask your guidance consuler if there was any way to do algebra 2 over the summer so you can do precalc in 10th
Not recommended
yeah
no?
colleges reweigh your gpa
It is really messy for your GPA
they look at what courses you take along with their rigor
Oh.
Wait, Ryboss
One second, I know I sent this message 2 times, but wait
so as long as it doesnt nuke your ranking, a little hit isnt that bad esp since it allows you to take more advanced math classes
French II
(AP Psychology over the summer)
so is it bad to take Honors Geo next year, should I really consider the summer course
because like taking 2 ap classes when nobody else or very few do is very impressive
and they'll see that it was just a weird gpa thing with the algebra 2
imo it's a good idea to skip
so you can do stats and calc
a lot of ppl said it isn’t
it’s acc so i can do calc 3 in 12th grade
adding rigor
so you aleady know algebra 2
🤓 “GPA”
Wait can I skip Algebra II
Not recommend
doesnt it just skip past it though?
you have to know algebra 2 to skip algebra 2
how would it be bad for your gpa
No, I don’t. I am just going to take the exam and get a 40 so I go to Precalculus
I don’t think so
how r u gonna get a good score if u dont know it??
I’ve been offered to skip classes, rejected the offer tho
Because I am taking a 4.0
I’d Talk to your counselor
the algebra 2 quiz would be added in your transcript as a 4.0?
She said to stay
how are you gonna pass the algebra 2 exam if u dont know algebra 2
But if I did it over the year it would be a 5.0
shoudl I stick with Honors Geo then fir 9th grade????? I mean I can take either AP Calc or APstatistics in my senior year...Im just so confused I really want a good chance of getting into a good college
(😭
skip geo not algebra 2
geometry is so free
Do you get honnors geo?
How smart are you in Math?
gpa only really matters for your class ranking
yeah I am going into honors geo
i got reccomended by my teacher
Do you think that is important?
course rigor and your grade in those classes are more important than just the gpa number
how r u gonna pass the algebra 2 exam if u dont know algebra 2
you dont need to be number 1 or anything, but like top 5% or so is very good
I don’t know, I’ll eat Timberbell’s cookie and pass the exam.
I am not Top 5%
For sure
what score do you need to pass algebra 2 and skip it
how far are you?
I mean i enjoy it...and I have a good average
I have a 4.167 GPA (I took a lot of 4.0)
Hmmm,
I wish I knew
I think so
ms girl what score do u need to pass algebra 2 and skip it
My consular said
What math are you taking rn?
Above a 4.0 or 4.1 is Top 10
Algebra I
ms girl what score do u need to pass algebra 2 and skip it
I need a 520
out of what
the hell
😭
I am joking
so what d o u need to skip
how r yall gonna just "skip" algebra 2 like dont u need to know it
Not really, I was gonna do the summer Geo course until I saw the pricing. Others are saying that even the Geo is a level higher, I should consider on advancing a level higher
738291
do the summer geo course
Broi am not rich
it is worth it you cant skip any math after geo
Not everyone can afford it
how much does it cost
id suggest skip, your course rigor would be one of the highest in your class, and given your history, i think you should be able to keep up course rigor in other classes to maintain a good ranking
but tbh it's not asuper big deal either way
oh tjhats pricey but i say still do it
precalc covers a lotta alg 2
you literally cant skip any math after geometry so i def this u should do it
but ive never heard of skipping geometry
ya u can do it on the summer
My parents even if they let me join I don't want to end up flunking it, all the money gonna go to waste
👍
its probs the same price too
Deff an issue
I took 2 math courses at the same time
In the same school year
ya its gonna be fast paced so u need to be really smart
rip 😭
So it was compacted 7/8 and normal 8/9th grade math
I don't want this to be the reason why I can't get to an Ivy league, or at least a good college man
Im not sure if this is available to everyone
you need to have really good ecs then
this will most likely not be the reason
bc the average applicant has the geo alg 2 pre calc pathway
yes it will unless u have good ecs
😭
he can improve his course rigor through other classes too
Medicine?
the average applicant doesnt have many aps though
true, if that i'd lean more heavily towards encouraging to skip
they cant afford it
but same opijon
do I gotta be two levels higher
well i mean
max out science aps
ya
bio and chem
yeah im willing to do that
but the science aps are hell sooooo
physics if u got time
lmfao fr
HELL NAH
I mean
Uhhh
Yea
Sorry I just don’t like physics🤮
Like thy suck or its a lot of work?
But deff
work plus memorization
idk i hearded that
bio you gotta remember a lot of stuff
well thats next year
chem you have to understand a bunch of different processes
yeah
do you have thse courses
Khan Academy is my only hope now...I wish I could do Geo on Khan Academy so i can take Algebra II
me?
yes you
yeah i have a list
Good resource tho
This is ONLY freshman year...let me know if you need the other ones
is there any aps
starting 10th grade yes
no they either H or CP
take any honorsclasses
stopp why is there a genocide class
tbh idk
do you take a language
yes
french
you know what...ill figure this out tommorow
it is really hurting my brain
thanks for thr help tho guys
freshmn year does not matter
mot in the sence u dont have to care u obv shoyld anget that gpa but course wisse not rll
11th is THEE year
We have course selection going on rn, the only AP we have available as freshmen is AP Human. I’ve heard from outside sources it’s easy, but it’s notoriously difficult at my school. Only 35/560 freshmen have As and the highest grade someone has is 93. I signed up to take it.
So people that did take it, how did u succeed?
oh???
a course is not about the course its abt the teacher
even the easiest courses can be hard if u have a bad eacher
your teahcer is orob just bad
if the highest is a 93 absoulty do NOT take it!!
when im planning to take two honor math classes, ela honors, ap world history, and another ap?
geo and alg 2?
geo is not easy
what was ur freshman year like? it differs from school to school, but all of ur classes you listed usually have a good bit of homeworl
but it is not hard
damn i shouldve stacked up like my friends this sem 😭
you should be pretty confident in your own skills before adding ap chem
geo and alg 2 is already pretty tough
plus apush readings
if you have the option to take geometry over the summer do it
2 afjrotc, intro to software tech, intro to graphic design, ela 9, alg 1, honors bio, honors am gov
😭 i wish
what was your opinjon on alg 1
how did you do?
i rlly am not bc most of my upper class friends said that they regret taking ap chem before taking like chem or honors chem
also, you can ask the people who have taken the class before abt the workload
well not am gov
all the science ap courses are hard exept for apes
teacher sucks
whats that
are they as good of students as you?
env science its a freshman course i believe
smarter than me
u can take it in 11th or 10th to
they dont offer that course until my senior yr 😞
bail 💀
Huh??? it is literally the easiest ap thats wierfd
right 😭
idk my school is kinda special
but erm do yall have to like take 2 foreign language classes in order to go to college
i hope so
um not exaclty but u should doit
a lot of schools recommend 2-4
2-4 what
but idk if any have set in stone requirements
😭 i dont wanna get my gpas messed up by me pushing myself too far
2-4 language classes
so like years of language
my school told me that certain prestigious colleges requires 2 foreign language credits
but like im already fluent in another language, and like english aint my first language
is there anyway to do a class in that or something related to it?
umm u should take it
idk abt disadvantage, but spanish 4 would be an advantage
so i should stop in 10th
theres a thing called credit in lieu of enrollment, should i do it bc that basically exempt me to take those foreign languge courses
cuz 3 years is pretty standard for top schools
how much did you take
3 years
i hated spanish
if u hate it then quit and take classes that u acc like
my teacher was so annoying
and my class wouldnt do anything put talk, and nothing would get done
and then we'd get tests
smh
i hate every calass
what aps did u take
i come from a small school, so we dont have many
since i did alg 2 over the summer
i did ap stats, doing ap calc ab rn
ap chem, ap lit, and apush
and also doing ap lang rn
rest is honors, and i have 4 dual enrollment credits
for a biomed class
i maxed out my school
oh ok their forcing me to take both of the ap lang courses both comp sci cources and 3 of the math aps
and thats the ones their forcing me to do
3 math aps starting from precalc?
10th is ap pre calc
i think 12th and 11th is both the caclus ones
you cant skip to bc?
wydm
but you dont have to
no they force me to take both of themn
why not???
cuz you would do the harder one and then the easier one
dont you wanna build the foundation with the easier one first
oh y
then go more advanced?
aa
what major are you looking at?
well i choose the IT school
oh u chose alr?
my plan is if i dont want to do a cs related major i can apply to colleges for the CS major and then transfer once i get in to a major i want
if i apply to any other major thats not cs i iwll be disadvantaged
cuz they think ur doing the reverse
plus i will have a gaurentteed internship to put on my application bc they force us to do that too
is ib only international schools?
huh
sorry i have no experience with the ib system
ib is a program
not only in international schools
pluw i dont think many international schools exist in the US
ap lang imo does, because it teaches how to effectively write and make an argument with rhetorical devices and such
what is ap lit
ap lit is fiction
you read a lot of novels and such
and analyze the meaning
theres a lot of theme/message finding
ap lang is nonfiction and you analyze why the author writes like how they do
less emphasis on the meaning
i applied engineering
i had working at my family's business, varsity cross country/indoor track/track and field, online tutoring, science olympiad, chess team, math team, a job at a supermarket, a leadership council thingy, and two summer programs through unis
ive won regional things for science olympiad, chess, and math
also co founded chess team
but nothing too special, i just kept myself very busy, and i tried to reflect my work ethic and dedication trhough my essays
i debated putting gym on my list, cuz i spend like 15hrs a week lifting, but decided not to
Could I ask what you did for your family business?
Oh ic
Must be hard, I hate dealing with people bulll
I just do office stuff for my parents
and i appreciate what it taught me and the man i am now because of it
I believe no matter what, everyone should at least work 1 month in a service or retail job
what does that entail?
100%
Filing and organizing papers
Also putting some stuff online and organizing it
Worked a while at my uncles restaurant 2
Got cursed out over some eggs….
lmaoo
gonna have 10yrs experience by graduation 😂
Cant do to much crap for a real estate company without it getting to difficult
So filling papers days for me
Are you a first Gen college student?
Same here
so figuring this stuff out has been a pain
Mine in early teens
Got very lucky
Must have been very hard
Congratulate you on all these huge achievements
did you win anything on the math team
and what summer programs
and what unis
phillips exeter and johns hopkins
i got into sstp and st paul's, but decided not to do
what r programs like?? what do you do there
in the activity description i talked about my contributiion to the team environment and recruiting, as well as teaching math
i had perfect scores a few times, but didnt talk abt it
so i did boarding for phillips and online for johns hopkins cuz i wanted to work
but for what
for phillips i did three classes: college essay writing, transgenics, and genetic engineering
i wanna know your four year plan now 😭
i spent a lot of time in a lab and i got lab experience which i found to be very engaging
what boaut j hopkins
i did engineering for that, and it entailed a class every morning, along with a group assignment and homework
