#course-selection
1 messages Ā· Page 73 of 1
in my tech class the teacher is like 70 and he doesnt know how to use canvas
so my entire class has like
at least a 250%
š
bc he graded them 100/0 instead of 100/100
bruh
lowk excited for choosing classes next year tho
1 bc i sit next to people i have beef with (old friends except things happened and theres no more seats)
and 2 i can challenge myself
also my interests just really align well with course rigor
how much total ap's should i be taking in high school?
guys
ib or ap
my school has both
idk what to choose
i heard ib is better for college tho
i can take it next year
oh
what does a prerequisite course mean
for school
classes you have to take before
thats more than 8 classes
also dont you have electives?
then its more than 8 classes
Do i take the prerequisite and then only next year/next semester i can take the classes it unlocks right?
mhm
wait sometimes if it says concurrent than you may take same year
what do i put in for math
what grade is that for
sophomore
what did you take freshman
im freshman but they making us choose classes early
how do you not know what math you are taking
then do geometry or geometry honors
thats really really stupid
i was in honors geometry earlier this year but i got kicked out because i was struggling
its over
i was struggling
hard
cant you appeal or something
No
calculus ab is whole year bro and bc is a whole year
bc is ab but with more content
lots of people even skip ab cause of that
I took both
Im fucked
wrogn
mabye your school does it differently but then its not thaking at the same time
it just isnt for all schools i know
2 looking at your schedule
courses
honestly, thats rlly stupid of your school ngl. just do bc the whole yr wtf
Alright
what math class does average sophomore take
ok
whats after honors geometry
algebra II?
yep
nice
i think its like basic stuff -> pre alg -> algebra 1 -> geometry -> algebra 2 -> preacalulus -> calculus 1 -> calculus 2 -> multivariable calculus -> linear algebra & diffeq -> ODE, PDE, real analysis, abstract alg -> more
Dang
CAn i go from honors geometry to algebra II in different semesters
depends on school, but i dont think your classes are meant to be finsihed in one semester
especially for a yr round math course
Like take geometry honors 1st smester of sophomore and then algebra II 2nd semester
Its over
mabye if you already know the concepts then email your counciler to test out of your class or ask your teacher to switch classes for you
Yeah
or another option is to study them over the summer and test out next year if your councilor allows
Imma just get 97%+
No
Bruh
The ap courdses are prerequisite
What course do i take before
talk to your school advisor
Ok
if you can do what I asked, not that bad
it should be very easy then
should i take ap bio or anatomy (dual cred) for my senior yr of hs?
btw i want to become a doctor in the future, and although ap bio would help me in that career so would anatomy. also it may seem like anatomy is easier but the teacher is very strict so i would still learn A LOT even tho its dual cred. but ap bio is also good but i wouldnāt want the ap cred to possibly remove me from an entry level bio class cuz im not the best at bio
I feel you should take anatomy
where to find general education requirements on a college's website
I have done engineering and IT as my career electives at school however I have finally decided I wanna go into entrepreneurship/business as my major so is it too late to change my electives for the better of my college apps? Im a sophmore currently and this change is for next school year
it is never too late to change
having experience in engineer and switch to business is kind of similar if you think about it
if you have the skills of mathematics to do engineering and it you can most definitely provoke your skills you have to deal with statstics and more math based on buisness major
i am pretty sure it will also stand out because it shows that you have the ability to do variety of math base major concepts
Type in [college name] than Common Data Set. They aren't requirements, but rather coursework in various subjects that the said college would prefer to see on a college app.
@clear pulsar
Bro youāve got time. Junior year is what really counts anyway.
@clear pulsar yeppers this is the course
Hey guys
I am from India , i am applying for colleges for Fall 2024 and I am interested in aerospace engineering. I am interested in undergrad research programs involving fluid dynamics , aircraft design , UAVs etc. I wanted to to know which universities offer major in aerospace ( t100 ) in the US.
embry riddle (it's a specialised uni for aerospace), texas a&m, or any tech institute like MIT, CIT, GT, FIT
Did Walter H. W. teach AP chemistry?
is university of toronto a good safety
if you have extremely good grades, then yes
ok
canada prioritizes grades above anything else
i have
I remember hearing about it before lol
wait i have a question
yeah
for uoft?
yeah
depends on what you want to major in
biology
ok yeah then no lol
so im taking chem and bio
and the APs for them
nice
is a 97-98 average enough
so places like u of t and ubc can be safety schools?
im in canada btw
what province
Bc
half of our graduating class went to either of those schools
Which was confusing
but if you'd like to take your chances, go for it
i think you have a really good shot anyway
yeah im mainly trying for the us tho
thanks
damn lol
there was this one year where half of my graduating class went to ivies š
idk what happened that year
now there's nobody going to ivies lmao
bruh
We have a consistent 10-20 ivies
each year
damn thats insane
weāre 70% asianš
my program only had 42 people lmao
i'd assume so if you're in bc š
lol
ap comp sci principles vs ap comp sci a
csp is very basic, said to be one of the easist APs
So a?
wdym
Should i choose ap computer science a
it will be more challenging than csp
but it's up to you
no problem
I'd also say to ask what AP CSP curriculum your school has
Because the Harvard CS50 curriculum is a lot better than the code.org one and etc
We stan CS50š„
Yes we do š„
should i take 4 years of science as a cs major in highschool
physics, bio, chem, and thinking about apes for fourth year
yes
bio isn't all that necessary but if you'd like then go for it
is this a good plan for ninth grade
Math
Algebra 1 honors and geometry honors with algebra 2 over the summer or algebra 2 honors and ap pre calcus or ap calc bc
Science
Ap bio and ap chem
English
English 1 honors
History
AP human geo and apush
Lanague
Spainish 3 adv if my collage needs it but otherwise no
Electives
AP csp
Ap phycology
Ap art over the summer if i want
if i take an ap exam does that count to a course creidt
i have t=have to do crtain courses
Are you ppq in disguise?
wdym
lmfao š
Yo
Gimme advice
im gonna go into highschool next year
what school would you reccomend?
go to a school that you like
Canada, Ontario, Mississauga
i wanna do computer science
so what are good schools for that?
where school near you do that
Mmh
do the one that has the ebst for you
what im tryna ask is Port credit or glen forest
š
well now thats what im asking

high schools?
yeah
try to go to andover or exeter
guaranteed harvard and yale
admissions
AIGHT THANKS
Iām not wormy am I?
You sure you aināt an alt ppq account
i know some people at port credit
which is better?
no idea, im not from Mississauga
Do colleges especially care abt what classes u take in senior year? Would taking a certain class look more āimpressiveā over the other? I just thought I heard somewhere that senior classes r more important but idk
Or will they look at all classes like APs
I am currently a freshman in all weighted classes except advisory (bassically a mandated study hall). I plan to continue taking only weighted in future years w/ the exception of 1 semester of pe (also mandatory). Anyway my question is will colleges perfer I take IB or AP as my weighted?
Cause Iāve heard IB is better due it it making you take so many arvanced courses but if youāre just gonna take all advanced either way idk if it would matter
IB is better if you want to go international and not the states
otherwise taking AP would be the best as you have the most freedom with course choice
and you donāt have to do all the ib requirements like EE, TOK, etc
i like the states quite a bit and it seems most t20 unis are here so ill prob stay, thanks for the advice
also whats EE and TOK
that could also be really helpful because at my hs we have 9 engineering courses so i need flexibility to take most of them

i already took bio and thinking sbout apes
What is AP?
..
i think this guy is a troll
Collage 1st year basically
So it's just advanced subject in that subject? And we can choose whether to take it or not?
essays that IB students need to write lmao
Itās not extremely bad but it can become stressful
nice
why did pqq make a new account lmao
K yup confined you are ppq
Theyre trying to say that theyāre not ppq
Litterally same profile picture same absurd course load and same speech patterns
If i get good grades in APs would i still have a good chance internationally just incase or would it be a significant hit to my application?
AP is only a benefit
it never harms your applications whatsoever
if you apply internationally, AP still boosts your competitiveness by a huge amount
plus post secondary institutions consider the country you come from what what people typically take there

wdym
idk who that is though i have him in my dm
- You can have multiple accounts
- If you donāt know who that is, then how would you have them in your dms
becuase i have it in my dm
he sent me a dm
idk who that is but i freinded him
ok
for the final time idk who that isš
?\
bro
Ur just copy and pasting random stuff
stop
^^^
^^^
^^^
^^^
^^^
do better bruh
this courseload isn't the greatest
like you can obviously achieve more so it'll look bad to harvard if you don't
i mean that
he should take harder courses
so it looks more impressive
for example
multivariable calculus
linear algebra
quantum mechanics
yk
bro
im obviously joking š
im trolling back the troll
If he's going to be like that here, we just be like that back to him lol
I'm not that mentally unstable dw
Do colleges especially care abt what classes u take in senior year? Would taking a certain class look more āimpressiveā over the other? I just thought I heard somewhere that senior classes r more important but idk
Or will they look at all classes like APs
Should I self study AP African American Studies for college credit?
If so, this year? Or next year
Wat is ur major
Math, but I might minor in some sort of social science
Right now, AP Stats, Macro, Lit, APES and Iām self studying APHUG.
I would instead self study Psych
Im a junior and Iāve never done an ap or honors course before
AP afro seems like hit or miss
Yep
Thats like my only seriously hard class, APES and stats are hard but easy relative to other apās
Am taking like 2 online APd over the sumer
So should I self study AP African Amer studies
Alright
No
School makes me take AB before
Next year AP Precalc, Lang, world, physics I, and Chem
APUSH has been easy
Too easy
Hey big tip for physics, a lot of it is trig based and you wonāt learn that till 2nd semester of ap pre calc. Iād recommend taking trig on Kahn academy the summer before, itās free and you can get it done if you jsut do like one lesson every two days
what does it take to understand newtonās principia?
what base knowledge do i need
To understand Newton's Principia, you would need a solid foundation in physics, mathematics (including calculus), and celestial mechanics.
is a comp sci principles a self study class
should i self study ap human geo this year as a freshman
im taking ap csp and self studying ap precalc
Yes
why precalc
because im in honors precalc rn
so i wouldn't have to do much more except study a bit more
i wasn't sure if human geo is even worth my time and my school doesn't offer either ap econ classes
ab?
im doing that sophmore and bc junior and stats senior
u have 2 more units for bc
Thats like nothing
u can do it now
Just self study it
bc i want to have a math class for every year of hs
Doesnāt prevent you from like already doing it earlier
U wonāt have to do the exam when ur in higher grades
U can just chill
makes sense
my counselor is telling me to not overload myself but compared to my old school, everyone takes a lot less ap classes
do stuff at ur own pace
if u can take more take more
opinions on macro and micro?
not a economics guy
any other aps ok for freshman year?
Any aps are fine
As long as ur interested
Psych is pretty easy and fun tho
yeah i kinda wanted to have the class for class discussions and stuff
yeah lol
maybe take physics then
or bio
Or chem
my councelor was abt to let me take physics but it was at the same time as honors bio
so maybe all i will do is switch precalc to ab
instead of taking another
im going to talk to my counselor and see if i can removing precalc and take human geo, mirco, and macro econ
do you think that i should study for the calc bc exam if I am in calc ab
the class is pretty easy tbh
i heard bc is easy if you've done ab already
because they overlap a lot
so you could
Hi
you can only take the ab OR bc exam in one year. you can't take both in a year
so either take the bc exam this year and not do the ab exam
Or do the ab this year and then bc another year
Ik what you mean
But like do you think the last 3 chapters are that bad
My friends all said it was terrible
But tbh I could learn all of calc ab by winter break and then just grind the rest
The only thing is I donāt know if my school offer multi variable calc
should i take geometry over the summer ?
should i drop one of my "extra" math classes to take a calculus-based physics class? said math class i'd be dropping would be linear algebra (probably). if it helps i'd probably want to study some sort of biological science
i mean
i would not take linear algebra in my senior year instead taking a calc based physics
im saying if i should
bc on one hand linear algebra would make my course rigor looked even more stacked math wise
but on the other hand if i do that i wont have physics
im a suphomore rn
and im taking calc 1 + 2 dual enrolled
so
yeah
BC is equivalent of calc 1 + 2 i think
last math course i took was geometry
i jsut placed into calc
š
placement test
yea
yeah
virtual school prob >>
no
i took a placement test
like i said
š
like over the summer
idk its for florida schools i think
i mean
my florida CC accepted it
nah
its just bc my high school is on a college
so to dual enroll you gotta take something called the PERT
and my pert math score was high enough
i could take another test called the accuplacer to go even further
yea?
um
the panhandle
yeah
lets just say somewhere above gainesville
well
i took it like
5 months ago and i jsut graduated middle school
but i ahd the credits to skip 9th
so??? like
idk
i just got out of 8th and was heading into 10th
just like the basics to skip 9th
i took 2 honors science courses, 2 math, and english
earth/space science hon, physical science honors, alg 1 + geo honors, and english 1 honors
wdym
idk
it was just a special circumstance for the HS i was going to
and i just capitalized on that
im not gonna doxx myself
sorry
š
give away what hs im going to
bc like
uh to get placed at the community college i ahd to first take the PERT
but i scored high enough to take another test called the accuplacer
which allowed me to place in the highest introductory math possible
tbh it wasnt hard
just needed some basic alg 2 / trig
i registered for it at the CC
idk bro i dont live next to u??
it might vary
community colelge
yeah
anyway my original question still stands for ppl who cna help:
should i drop linear algebra to take a calc based physics in my senior year
your choice
@cinder gorge
thats not helping š i mean if i take linear algebra it will make my math rigor look better but if i do that i wont have physics
š
Nah, he answered your question perfectly actually. This is all your choice. What do you want to major in? Does it involve physics? Well then take physics and not linear algebra. If your major does not include physics of any sorts, itās probably a safe bet to choose linear algebra.
A college is not going to deny you admission because you didnāt take either linear algebra or calc based physics, pick the one thatās most beneficial to you.
^^^ i guess i forgot to mention i was inclined towards some type of biology in my 2nd message
and for pre-med (which im planning for) physics is fs gonna be needed but im stronger in math so š
so basically early exposure to new field which will be more beneficial towards my career later on versus something that'd interest me slightly more
and yes it is my choice but that'd be a tautology; theres no actual value in helping me decide and weigh with respect towards different facotrs
(theres also the factor of difficulty of the courses and how that will play into my GPA)
then linear algebra???
Have you heard of physics in bio either?
in pre-med yeah
I said bio
im considering the classes in like the career path i wanna go down too not just like
my major
okay, so thatās your choice
so basically early exposure to new field which will be more beneficial towards my career later on versus something that'd interest me slightly more
tryna weigh our everything
out**
and i was kind of looking for some like outside opinions
im open to outside opinions if they actually were substantive
š
"your choice" doesnt help me at all yk?
I already said linear algebra. But you said physics appears in pre med (not sure how genuinely) so then i said choose physics
Linear algebra is a great foundation of math, physics (calc) is a great foundation for physics/astronomy and others that are important
that's literally what my personal opinion was but i was looking for opinions for ppl who like maybe have taken some physics too
bcuz again multifaceted: gpa, rigor, difficulty, interests, career, etc
Because physics is also a lab course, it will probably do you some better for considering a major in bachelors of science
alright then that's what i was asking for
further, you should take some type of advanced chemistry (but Iām sure you already knew that c: )
yeah im plannign to tryahrd in chem and complete organic chem 1 + 2 by the time ig raduate lmao
omfg i kind of forgot about those
its alr i still have like
3 years
to get 5 more somewhat decent ones
Iād recommend volunteering
thatās an easy one especially for the medical field
as you can help at a hospital or what not
Further more, activities that show leadership look exceptionally well because people in the med field need active leadership in case of an emergency
rn the okay ecs i have are like helping manage a family rental business, a shit ton of shadowing (like 150 hours) docs (and i did some like paperowrk too?), some app development, and like an internship at a mental health nonprofit (and some volunteering but i have mariginal hours)
Thatās good! Keep it up for all of Highschool. Consistently is key š
as well as impact š„
yeah im trying lol
iām a freshman at a school with a set class schedule but i am able to duel enroll at north carolina school of science and math for junior and senior year while iām taking classes at the university. iām looking for a mechanical engineering degree should i do honors computing for everyone, honors human computer interaction, honors computing for everyone, honors cryptography, honors aerospace engineering, honors civil engineering, honors environmental engineering, honors scientific programming or honors biomedical engineering if iām looking to do 4?
hs senior taking calc III this semester, should I take Differential Equations next semester? I'm not sure how the progression works
Idk some places do linear algebra some do differential equations
My school does linear algebra after multivariable
currently taking honors english, honors geo, honors bio, pe (taking a sport for credit in spring), spanish II, and health (honors global next sem) I am getting decent grades, not the best I can do but not the worst. What should I do next year considering I can take courses online if needed?
in freshman year
you can't drop the class since ur in hs
whens the deadline?
i mean i took anatomy and physiology as a de class so u def can get ahead
u just have to make sure that ur credits can transfer
in state tho
not out of state
well you should do it if u wanna get ahead, save money, and if u wanna stay in state
AP Macro or Micro
what if I alr took the most rigorous physics course that my state college could offer while i'm still sophomore, what should i do?
Competitions?
Course wise, try going into higher-level maths
ofc i did take the highest math in my state college
i also took all the competition that my school officer could pay for
even social study competition
Hello! So next year, I have a choice to take Advanced Science Research (weighted) or IB Seminar (study hall/other stuff). What should I forecast for?
AP bio needs a lot of chemistry, i recommend taking honors chemistry first and then AP bio, but im not sure about AP ES
Hey guys
Intro to arch con and eng, cad for arch con and eng, or adv cad arch con and eng for sohpomore year
Also my freshman classes literally got randomly selected
Hey I dropped hnr geometry this quarter and im taking algebra 1, u think i can get back into hnrs geometry next semester and get into algebra 2 for soph
Jealous
My classes literally got randomly selected for freshman year
Same here
I really wish I couldāve taken more advanced classes during middle school but itās whatever now
Hey guys! High school Jr here. Iām thinking about majoring in Management Information Systems (MIS) and going into a career in that field. However, the college that I plan to attend only has an Information Systems (IS) major. Are they the same thing? If not, what is the difference? Thanks!
geometry harder than calculus fr
lowk it was (at least so far for me š)
It is for everyoneš
geometry is probably the hardest course you can take in hs
nah i hated alg 1 more
idk i just didnt like it
geometry is so easy, it was my fav class last year, i think a hard class really depends on your prior knowlege and also the skills needed for the course.
I'm in sophmore year taking Spanish-Honors 3, I took it last year and I got a B- avg, this year my first mp I got a C and a very hard teacher for Spanish. Should I drop or stay in to get my grade up. I wanted to take Spanish as a way to make it appealing to colleges
To do what?
Just a quick tip for everyone don't take AP physics online it's not worth it
should i take ap pre calc next yr
It varies school to school
ik someone who does olympiad math and finished calc in 9th grade thinks that geometry is still the hardest
If u plan on taking AP Calc then yes
I plan on doing that
should i take ap pre calc in 9th
depends on ur prior knowledge
If you have finished at least algebra 2, i would probably go for it
I'm a current freshman who takes algebra 2
For me, I took it in middle school, and I ended up with an A minus, I would probably say it was the hardest math.
Geomtry for me is a litteral joke, at my school in my highest class weāve been moving so slow. I got fed up and wanted to teach it myself so I learned it in about 2 weeks with Kahn academy
Now Iām self teaching more stuff
Can you guys tell me if this schedule is good for junior year?
0 - Advance Placement Biology Laboratory
1 - AP Biology
2 - AP Pre-Calculus
3 - AP English Language and Composition
4 - AP Comparative Government and Politics
5 - CP Spanish 3
6 - Honors Biomedical Science
Should I take AP Psych instead of H biomed?
Should I take another AP and switch it out with Spanish, since I already filled my Spanish requirements?
iāve filled my high school requirements already, except this government one. I plan on going to the best pre-med school or bs/md I can get into.
Previous Courses:
10th:
- AP Human Geography
- AP World History
- AP Seminar
- Honors Chemistry
9th: - AP Physics 1
- AP Computer Science Principles
Just do AP chem
instead of ap bio?
No
Instead of useless courses
Like comparative government
Is chemical engineering good to take for undergraduate
Geometry was not hard at all, I took it in 8th grade and got an easy A and a 5 on the exam
I can see how it would be harder for some though
But not the hardest
florida virtual school, i took geometry online
What do you think of this for jr year? Interested in law/politics
- English (middle level)
- Honors Precalc
- Physics (idk if Iām doing ap or not yet)
- Spanish 4 Honors
- APUSH 2 (my school splits apush into 2 years)
- AP US Gov and Politics
- AP Economics (both macro and micro)
- Orchestra
Is Physics a school requirement?
Yes
Alr
I would say that once u knock out ur school grad reqs to take AP Compartive Gov., and maybe some english APs
If u can try AP Lang
Yeah it lets you apply to like any grad school you want or just go straight to the workforce
Add chemistry and biology
Iāve already taken them
This is just for junior year
Guys is the capstone diploma thing overrated?
pretty good
What is it
I wouldnāt say overrated
If you want to do it
Itās a rlly cool thing to do
Especially AP research
is doing pe as 1 semeter and doing health for the other good
how is ap cs principals as a class?
i am taking it next term
anything i can do to prep?
bruh read their message, they said they needed it for a requirement
Hey guys, Iām kinda confused what to do right now. Iām really ahead in math, taking AP calc as a freshman. And my school doesnāt offer more math classes after calc. I really want to be Valedictorian, which is pretty doable, thereās only 1 guy ahead of me. So should I replace the classes in 10,11,12 grade with a high school class, or dual enroll? If I do hs classes, the gpa will only go up to 4, which would slowly decrease my gpa close to 4 instead of 5. But also, to be able to play sports in my school, I have to be in atleast 3 graded highschool classes, which wouldnāt let me dual enroll as much, decreasing gpa. What should I do? My counselor sucks at giving good school advice and says Iām not allowed to dual enroll next year, even though all the other counselors say I can, so I canāt dual enroll unless my counselor signs paper, which she wonāt
A 5 on what exam?
nah bruh if u think about it, the more aps there are in a school, the more u gotta take
bro he wants me to take ap chem and ap bio at the same time, too. he basically said to unalive my self
šš
if youre ready for it and you can handle honors level math
You get dis?
which exam did u get a 5 on ik the pic is fake but congrats on the 5
APHUG thx lol
Dm me and you can ask me questions
Idk how much Iāll remember but I might be able to impart some wisdom
Nah that's a .5
You can dm me for help too (I also got a 5)
Letās go
i take physics in 10th grade then do ap physics II in 11th, or do ap chem in 10th, physics in 11th and then ap physics II in 12th?
What science, if any, would you take in senior year with option one?
And what science are you taking now?
Hi
senior year would be ap chem
im taking bio rn but im trying to take chem over the summer
In that case I might say option 2 so you're more refreshed on the material
sohum sundararam penyala
did you just call geometry hard
Yes
geometry was free bru
I found it hard
aren't u taking algebra 2
It's diff for each person
Yes it's easy
wait so alg 2 is easier for u than geo
Yes
@white willow
oh
dang
didn't u say u h ad a b+ last year tho
did u bring it up to an a-
or u said u had a b
ive noticed people generally find alg2 easier than geo
Hey guys, I'm confused about what to do right now. I'm really interested in forensics, but a part of me wanted to study engineering. i'm currently a science student in high school taking chemistry, physics, biology , additional math and others classes.
@shrewd sapphire Your message(s) have been flagged as spam and have been removed.
My highschool allows us to take collage courses through UT Austin and a local collage
So my question is which would be better for calculus
If I do UT I can choose wheather the credit goes into my high school GPA or not
If i already masterd algebra 1 , geomerty, and algebra 2 as a example should i take all thses with ap pre calcus and ap bc calculus since i already learn the first 3
Sorry for the ping, I have my algebra 1 credit already Iām in geometry and Iām planning to test out in January then go into algebra 2 and get that credit so next year I would be talking pre cal as a sophomore

8th grader going into hs next yrā¦.im wondering if i should do my schools engineering pathway, since that seemed like the most suitable career field based on some tests the school gave me, or instead do Spanish for those 4 years
I have interest in math/science and I just donāt know if I should commit to engineering, Iāve heard a good grade in the class is hard to maintain, and taking Spanish would give me 2 ap courses compared to 0 in engineering, Iām thinking if I need the engineering experience and pursue an engineering career, or maybe just focus on grades/aps then major in some math/science field
How important is world lang for colleges, im in spanish 3 honors rn as a freshman and i rlly dont like spanish so if i drop spanish after sophmore year, how much would that affecr me?
a lot of colleges require 2 years, but a lot also want 3 or 4. For example, Harvard usually wants 4 years, but I believe (from what I've heard) they also have a thing where if you're fluent enough it doesn't matter
What level of spanish do ppl usually take in freshman year
spanish 1 if they didn't take any in middle school
so you're pretty set rn
essentially by stopping end fo sophmore eyar that means i would be done with spanish 4 as well
Currently sad that I didn't take spanish in middle school š„²
oh then yeah you should be fine
so ur taking spanish 2 rn?
yeah
only thing is my spanish teacher in freshman year was held back by the school. Basically everyone in his class wasn't doing work and stuff so the school made him reopen assignments and keep reteaching the same stuff so we ended up still being on like chapter 2 in the third quarter, and then had to rush through the rest of the book after that
so I got a really bad spanish foundation
not to mention the fact that he didn't really "teach" it was just textbook assignments
which I don't learn from too well
oh dam
I love my spanish 2 teacher but I know for a fact that I'm going to leave the class knowing near nothing
gonna learn portuguese instead
another question, what math course r u taking this year
thats sad.... rip
AP Cslculus AB
in 10th??? dam
yeah, took precalc over the summer
oh cool
im in geo rn
i could technically do pre calc over usmmer as well
I'm the only 10th in my math class š
but i dont rlly wanna
nah do algebra 2 first
i did in 8th grade
oh really?
interesting
It works depending on how much you can figure out the math from prior knowledge
but it is still stupid
yea
i suck at geo so much
like i did decent in alg 2, i got high B's which isnt too bad
im selling in geo cuz i cant remmeber all the theorems and postulates
dam
r u doing any other aps this year?
AP CSP, AP World, AICE Lang AS (british AP Lang but 2 years in length)
as long as you feel that is something you want to pursue, id say taking the engineering pathway would benefit you most
what is aice
Advanced International Certificate of Education
it's from Cambridge
im required to do as 1 in 10th and then as 2/apush in 11th
we have it here in florida and a lot of schools are pushing it over AP
Sounds good, thanks!
Yeah my hs allows ap world in 10th too
Also everyone says itās crazy hard so the ones that know do ap human
lol
how many aps does ur school offer
Lemme see
To get the AICE Diploma you must
- Pass 7 AICE Exams, one of which must be Global Perspectives
- Pass at least one AICE Exam from each category, except category 4 which is optional
- Get 100 service hours
- Complete all of this in 3 school years
if youre not sure about your commitment, hopefully your hs lets you switch out of that track it its ends up not being your thing. for my hs, pathways are just suggestions not something you ahve to commit to all 4 years so i hope thats the same for your hs?
I did AP Human last year and I'm struggling with AP World because my teacher switched her teaching style between the two classes and the one she uses for AP World is basically just us reading the textbook at home and filling out notes, which as I said before doesn't really help me
same thing
26
cuz im doing this weird media center volunteer thingie
it says volunteer hours
for work
dam mine has 17
Yeah u can def switch out I just donāt wanna waste 1-2 years on engineering then find it useless lol
idk where you live but in my county there's a form that you have the volunteer organization sign and then give it to guidance
and they put it on your transcript
near princeton univeristy
so like i can do the courses there
ohh okay lol but i think its good to test the waters if you think that's something youre interested in pursuing
yeah no clue what they do for volunteering there
lol
ok
im self studying ap human geo rn
quick question, do you know what you would be doing in first year of engineering?
if you need help w/ that I saved all the documents from last year
wait @normal ember so if ur doing calc ab this year, ur gonna do bc in 11th and multi in 12th?
yes i need help lol, could i have it
my school doesn't offer multi
so I'll be doing AP Stats instead
I was actually gonna take BC this year but
my school put me in AB because it would've messed up my schedule for BC
and I specifically told them "Put me in BC, but if that would mess up my schedule put me in AB"
or something like that
I think it was closer to "put me in whichever one would mess up my schedule less"
yeah sure
what vdieos are good for ap human geo and algebra 1
First course is just intro to engineering design
For alg 1 Iād just follow khan academy and use their videos
and ap human geo
might want to self study before i do it
I dont have experience w human geo sry
Yeah I mean like, would you be getting any certifications, doing any projects
Etc
what else is engllineing good for
Mr. Sinn and Heimler's History
(Both for AP human)
i using heimler for apush
He started an AP Human series
Iām donāt know much about the class yet
i mean we did started with ev3
Ah okay
Well I'll tell you what my engineering 1 was like
First quarter was really just the basics. We did a paper tower project, a paper catapult project (I still have mine!), and learned how to draft by hand. Second quarter we got our AutoCAD certification (however now it will be Fusion360 since apparently AutoCAD was too hard for freshmen). Third and 4th we did a mouse trap car project and then a deck-arc bridge project
The bridge was made of balsa wood sticks
we tried to bulid a brige yesterday
Wait do some high schools allow u to do two courses in a year as in like splitting one course for half a year and another course for hte other half
how does that work
can you do pe as 1 semter and health as another
you do another course in the other semter
fusion360 is the bane of my existence
Sounds fun
Fusion is great
It was really fun!
i dont think its very beginner friendly imo š
Well apparently beginners are doing better with fusion360 than autocad

Idk man
I think AutoCAD is easier too
But again apparently the freshmen at my school didn't take well to it
AutoCAD is even being moved to engineering 4 for seniors
So now the path goes fusion369-inventor-solidworks-autocad
Apparently my class is learning autocad this yr
Guys what classes should I entroll in for once I start my freshman year? WHich ones do y'all recommend/ like?
depends on what your school offers, what your interests are, and school course requirements
My interests are: business, arts, music, sports, tech. My school course requirements are: 16 core classes, 1 P.E. life, 1 career prep, 3 career tech, fine arts, or foreign language, 0.5 Health, 2.5 electives. Total: 24 Classes.
does your school have any requirements for freshmen?
hold on let me check
is it okay to do pe for the one sem while doing health for other sem
Fusion 360 is amazing 9/10 totally recommend
Frankly how dare you
lol
you have to do modling and pe if yes then it looks good.
can you do pe for 1 sem and health for the other sem.
rip
modeling i took for art credit
its for quarter 3 and 4
for q 1 and 2 its a communication class thing
the only 0.5 credit class i knew
whats us hisotry yr
you mean apush
this is normal
cause ill have sats and stuff that yr
so i dont wanna worry about memorizing lots of history stuff
should i double block calc bc with stats
so its apush but normal amd easy
Wait till you find about Solidworks
Im glad to have Fusion360 instead of solidworks
I tried to learn it but it was too non ui friendly
bro iām using onshape š
onshape is a lot more beginner friendly imo
i dont know
i wasn't talking to u
for my school i dont think they have anything higher than calculus
nvm
o
what calculus tho
like bc
becuase they have ap calcus bc
oh
lol i am in 8th\
but i want to do algebra 2 in ninth along with ap pre calc
dang
r u taking geo rn ?
normal but my school is doing algebra
wdym
ur taking alg 1?
there doing normal math but doing a little algebra 1
i want to do geo
i see
in this year
oh
my school lets me do only like 1=a semetr i think
isee
if i pass
and not the eoc they have a special eoc to test out
like do u want to do all the way until bc
yes
what is eoc
bro your not getting there in 9th grade š
unless you grind
you didn't even finish alg 1 yet
ur wayy behind
10th is possible but it is still realy hard
no
k
i getting to geo this year
wdym
so algebra 1 anmd geo this year
yeah
do you understand what ur saying rn bru
algebra 2 and pre calc in ninth
u said u want to do bc in 9th or tenth
and ap calc bc and ap stats in 10th
ik that
yeah
they wount let you
thats what my ila teacher said
ila?
what is an ila
enlgish
yeah
its short for ila
ok
integtred lanague arts
what country do u live in
oh
us
funny thing u-s also spells us
u r going to skip calc ab?
oh
ab is the same thing anyways
it has 2-3 more units i think
i think its just that theres differential equations
you can ask someone else
yeah
yeah
i not an expert
ok
my school has all the phyics ap`s excpect phyics 4
lol
they have both phyics c ap`s but not 4
then do it in 10th if you want
my school also lets me do ap csp also with ap human geo
is ap human geo desingned for ninth
or what
idrk i just know that it is the only ap class offered for our grade
so i am guessing it is probably the easiest ap class
my school is weird ap csp is only reserved for students in 11th grade something like that
