mine is so inconsistent bc it’ll randomly change so some cursive type writing 😭
what i was just working on
something i wanna say ab how u were surprised seeing my courses that i have planned
with the like 4 ap classes
is
my life is a mess without structure
LIKE I NEED SCHOOL
to
lice
live
during summer i lay in bed 24/7
sadly i cant relate
and wanna js do work
so i’d be able to like
get background info for those during summer
like khan academy lessons or what not
i only did khan academy in school so it looked like i was working
LMFAO
but on a completely different subject
i always forget it exists
like it’s a free resource right there and i just forget 😭😭😭
but um
id say im kinda impulsive
today i had like an hour of free time after my test so i jsut
went into the forest surrounding my college
do you use IXL at school?
nah i used to in my middle
oh wow
okay same
but
i’m mad
ALL SUMMER
I DID ALL OF THE SOCIAL STUDIES IXLS AND OFHER SUBJECTS
and suddenly
social studies isn’t on there anymore
like hello
i have never met a person who willingly does IXLs
was all my progress and hard work worth nothing…
i was determined
idk
like i said i had urges to do work 😭
during summer
i mean i get the bad feeling of rotting inbed
but
i just went outside and took a walk
during summer
hopefully this summer i can get a job 😭😭
Pre calc is really easy it’s just a big algebra II review really, calc is really fun I’m in it rn and it is prolly my favorite class
Omg my calc notes are so bad
Especially for the difference quiotent when you expand it out
Calc is easier than pre calc imo
It goes less in depth
I mean calc is just such a breath of fresh air but it’s way more interesting so it’s way easier to learn
Would someone be willing to help me decide which subject I should drop?
yeah i have
I am willing to help! 💗
Would you recommend AP psych or AP US gov and politics junior year?
Hey guys! Please use #achievements to share any celebrations you have! Whether that submitting an application, getting accepted to a college, or getting an A on your math test! We want to celebrate you so, please feel free to use this channel!
Hello everyone, my dream school is Wharton, and I think I have a pretty strong application, however I’m in honors/Ap in everything except math. I heard that Wharton has a preference/requirement for Calc, and I’m taking algebra 2 for my junior year this year.
Can anyone give me some advice on what to do and how I could get into calc
Hello! Can someone tell me about AP Art History and the course? I’m debating whether to take it or not
Depends on what you're doing. If you're doing APES, i recommend doing Gov
You could do AP chem and calculus in junior year
or anything really
Ur in junior year
hey what classes should i be taking sophomore year
freshman right now taking
-ap human geo
-honors alg 2
-honors bio (taking chem over summer)
-honors english 1
-honors comp sci
health(for grad req)
soccer(for pe grad req)
also should i complete all my reqs in the early years or save those classes for senior year
planning to major in physics
Early
Then u can enjoy senior year with interesting classes
Sure dm me
aight
any feedback on this
W major, mine is the same
You can take AP physics 1 if your school has it
But I haven't taken it so I wouldn't know what it's like
AP world is a good sophomore class too
If (and only if) you both want to and think you can handle it along with chem then I would also consider taking pre-calc online during the summer and going into calc (not necessary at all, just an acceleration if you really want, that's what I did)
I don't regret doing this at all btw, loving calc rn
Ok
But did i ask??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????////////
No, wilder asked
Who is that?
This person
Brandon
Physics & Comp Sci dual
I don't really have a concrete plan rn (my mistake lol) but I'm interested mainly in research and possibly teaching it at a university
Bro
That is literally
what I plan to do after retirement
W
as a 2nd choice
I am going to become an astronaut but,
after,
I thought I could become a professor at an elite school
I am thinking about it
Yeah it's a great option for me because I also really like teaching
Nice meeting someone with some common interests
yeah
Well, two people considering that the other dude wants to major in physics too
I have a vast interest in physics too
Although I might go with a major in aerospace engineering
or physics
or
astronomy
They are mostly the same thing
Not really though
Do you know how excited I got when I saw the words "wave function" in my chem class
Yessssir
Currently doing Engineering Tech/Design for SkillsUSA instead
Nice
Damn that's really impressive
Yeah
can anyone read my high school essay
Still
for applying to hs program
Thanks
Nationals is always impressive
I competed in worlds after that
I didn't win anything but
I participated so
its good
Yeah I'm interested in doing it probably next year
But I might switch school next year
what is notion
What do you mean?
For what
Its like a note app
can someone dm me so i can get help with school corses
k
Ok
Chat gpt is wild
ok
it states for beginners, now that could mean new into the course, so genrally speaking it's not wrong, but to each their own
SL or HL chem?
Isn't this a copy off a shorts creators list
Computer science principals being one of the hardest?
Idk
I guess hey man it's chatgpt
you guys formed it
so....
Lol
Me too, I do vex as well
ok
hello :) current junior here, can someone tell me if my plan for senior year looks pretty solid? for some bg info, i want to go into business marketing
1st semester:
- ap eng lit
- ap stats
- ap gov
- physics
- spanish for spanish speakers 3
- digital marketing
- study hall
2nd semester:
- ap eng lit
- ap stats
- ap macroeconomics
- physics
- ap spanish lang
- ap microeconomics
- study hall
Sure
It’s good u include study hall
Bc AP stats is hard
oh really? good to know
i was mostly including study hall because its an overall pretty tough workload and i'll have a job as well
- college apps in the beginning of the year
it is???
i thought ap calc and stats were some of the hardest math aps??
Calc is, stats is easy asl
Depends
I find calc super easy but I wouldnt wanna touch stats with a 10 foot poll ngl 😢
Not sure if this is the correct place to ask for advice but here we go...
I'm a girl in 8th grade Latin and I was thinking of going to study hotel management next year. But I'm not sure and if I don't do it next year I can't go do it later.
I do feel like it's a big drop down, because Latin is the highest study in my school.
I do feel like my heart is there but I'm unsure. Is it worth it? What if I don't like it? Maybe staying in Latin is better? The higher the better? I need help on how to decide whether I do it or not.
Calc is easy
?
If u don't like it u can always change
Also
Is AP Reasearch program overrated?
That's true but you get way less classes
yes
Thank god
Everyone is saying how u should take that instead of AP lit
Cuz it's easier
Bro you gotta stop saying that like it’s a fact
Calc is generally considered one of the hardest ap classes
no its one of the easiest
You only need 57% to get a 5
Ap psych and human geo are harder than calculus
ap calc exam is a joke
because those people have very poor base knowledge of basic algebra basically
Is there anyone here who's from kazakhstan?
Currently a sophomore, but more focused towards humanities, any guidance towards my course selection for the following years?
Jr.
Honors precalc
Ap English
Ap research
Apush
Anatomy or physics
Honors French 4 (self study ap)
Religion
Senior:
Ap lit
Ap gov
Ap calc (probs AB)
Ap environmental science or bio
Religion
Extra slot idk yet
Dance (pe credit)
I can only do 3 ap classes my junior year and 4 for senior
My main questions are what I can do with they extra slot senior year, whether I should take AP Bio or APES senior year, whether to take calc ab or bc (I'm not great at math) and whether I should take physics or anatomy jr year
No, generally it is considered one of the hardest, loook up any ranking list you’ll find calc is typically among the hardest
No its the easiest
^
by content, it is the hardest. the reason calc has such a high pass rate is because only people willing to take it (good at math) will take it, and they’ll do well.
Theres like two units
Differentiation and integration
It has the least content out of the aps
For calc bc you just add like parametrics and sequences
How am I trolling?
I am being completely serious
Omg if most people say it's hard then that means it's hard for most people, us having had a better time studying doesnt mean anything to others who are struggling
Yea
Probably
Have they done this before?
lol they like disagreeing with people
i didn’t find calc bc terribly difficult, but i’m pretty good at math
Same for me it's p easy
i payed attention every day and did hw for 2 hours a night
but in stats, i spend like 15 mins working and i spend like max 30 mins on hw in a week and i still have an A lmao
Except the algebra can be super annoying sometimes lol
stats is much much easier content-wise when compared to calc bc
Niceee
that was literally the hardest part
Fr, logarithmic diff made a huge difference in the Differential calc part
My teacher made sure the questions were as annoying as humanly possible
Then they don’t have stable foundation
What don’t you understand?
Algebra is the easiest part
I’m not calc but my alg 2 log was my fav part of math
That and like the f(g(x)) stuff
if helath is a 1 semetrster class
then what is the other semetser about
how to self study ap bio or ap chem
Yeah that comes in handy for chain rule
if helath is a 1 semetrster class
then what is the other semetser about
how to self study ap bio or ap chem
That's nice, I like them too, logs come in handy too as they can drastically simplify hard problems
is ap bio hard?
Yes
oh that sucks
Why
did u take it before?
Its hard in comparison with other aps
I am studying for it now
thats good
if helath is a 1 semetrster class
then what is the other semetser about
how to self study ap bio or ap chem
@cinder gorge
Read about it
You can buy a text book and/or a review book
And then just do lots of practice questions
okay
Try khan academy too
what the other semeter about
As a supplement
if helath is 1 semmester
Depends on your school
Yeah
what happends at the end of the semeter
of the course i chose
as a replacement for health
@oak plaza
what palanners are there
Either you’ll get to pick the class or you’ll have another mandatory semester long class
okay
i thought the class was pretty easy, and the exam was the hardest test i’ve ever taken, but i did get a 5🤷♀️
okay
should i take ordinary differential equations or linear algebra after multivariable calc? i've heard that linear algebra is more of an abstract concept while differential equations is "harder" but also continues on the calculus path somewhat
When choosing what and when to self study, it's helpful to have a bird's eye picture of all math courses. In this video, I give a sample of what such a map might look like. So many courses are for need of space not included, for example statistics.
Course Map by MIT: https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/mit-curriculum-guide/#map
^ if the link above do...
not necessarily self-studying but it might guide you in the right path
What’s the easiest math class, i struggle a ton with math, and I wanna maintain a good GPA
In college
I’m doing it rn…if u do…check out gabe posers videos…they’ve been quite helpful for me
Bro does anyone have advice on taking the AP exam if so Iam not sure to take please feel free to dm me if you have an idea
It’s for world history
Iam j#not sure wether to take or not
ooo ok. goodjob on the 5!
ok!
Take practice tests 😅
ppl who took micro/macro economics would u recommend it- more importantly, do u think it would be doable online
does anyone want to buy my AP physics 1 Princeton review textbook
I didn’t write in it or anything it’s good as new from this year
lol I’m doing that too. Just take ap bio 10th grade
Envi sci is more applicable for humanities
Thank you!
sometimes gabe's videos might not have everything, so my backups are ap bio penguins insta review and my princeton review book btw
ill dm u, im doing it rn
How bad is AP Precalc
It doesn’t seem bad, I’m trying to self study it so I can skip to calc AB
It’s basically a lot of stuff with functions
Then log
Then trig
And at the end there’s stuff about vectors and matrices but that’s not on the ap test
Niceeeee
Yo buddy tell me too
Very difficult
Dm me Ima self-study it too.
I want to too lol
I want to self-study geometry, is there any application that can help me do that?
I'd see geo probably isn't the best to self study
Algebra 2 isn't that bad though
ill just make a gc at this point lol
dm me to join ap bio gc
ill add praneel and wonder
omg bro i hated trig during precalc
it’s honestly not that bad… they have to really squeeze everything really close together so there isn’t much space to breath… for us we have had a quiz or test everyday so far. But if you have good teachers and don’t make stupid mistakes it’s an easy class imo
Is it possible to self study an AP course if the class itself isn't good. A lot of people fail the class so I'd rather do it myself.
is ap chem hard compared to the other science aps? ik it depends on the person + it's kinda subjective but likee in general?
It’s prob harder than Bio and Physics 1 and 2 but easier than both Physics Cs
Yes
mostly algebra 2 review
but the reasn why ppl do bad is cause its with more advanced language and topics
but its just building on algebra 1, geo, and alg 2 knowledge
depending on ur school u might do unit 4 which helps u for calc bc, but the ap exam tests on units 1-3
should i self study human geo in 9th grade
How?
Khan academy + yt vids + pr books usually my plan
hi guys i wanted to ask about my next years class selection and i was wondering if i have to take 4 years of foreign language or only 2 years
depends on your school
Hey
so
If you want to go into a good school like MIT or Harvard you're required to do at least 3 years of foreign language.
Depends
Not necessarily but yeah I agree; I plan to do post secondary language if I run out of elective space
Its true search it up
Oh your right
yessir
Whats up pqq
Huh
They do require 3, I mean
Yeah
you should do spanish 3 in 9th
Do it,
or
do not
I would recommend to do it
but its your choice
If you want to do ap and advanced spanish at the same time then do it
But then again
it will take up your elective space
I would only do advanced spanish three
Your gpa since the beginning of your freshman year
wdym how does it work
my cumilative gpa right now is 3.56
my friends are telling me that i got no chance of going to college
idk why ur friends r saying that bc u absolutely can
i mean your chances at like harvard are low with even like a 4.2 gpa
so you might not be going to harvard sorry bout that
but you can defo go to a ton of colleges
uh
depends on your school
my school operates on trimesters, which last from Aug-Nov, Nov-Feb, and then Feb-May
courses are usually one trimester long, and often have a part A thats a trimester and a part B thats a trimester
Our AP classes are 3 trimesters long
yes p much
we have 6 classes a day so we can only take 6 classes in a trimester
you generally have to do more work at a quicker pace than standard kids
they say colleges automatically skip your record if you have less tha na 4.0 gpa
yea idk what theyre on abt bc you definitely dont need a perfect 4.0 to go to college
do you want to see my classes im taking this year?
sure
yea cause one of my friends
they have a 3.8 weighted gpa but hes taking ap pre calc and has like a 65 on it right now
for example, in APUSH this year the students had to take a quiz over Chapter 6 on a friday, read chapters 7 and 8 over the weekend and get a brief 40 minute lecture summarising them on Monday, take a 7/8 quiz on Tuesday, and then take a unit exam over 5-8 on Wednesday
gpa wont update until the course is finished
yeesh i would not love to take your schedule
also lunch as a whole class period and getting 49 mins for it is WILD
i cant replace my lunch unless i have an ap class
we have a limit on what we take as our grade
im a sophomore right now
thats how my school is
next year when im junior i have to take alot of ap classes
if i wanna go to med school and become a family medicine doctor/psychiatrist one day, what path should i take?
i can only take one elective in my school unless im in band 😭
oh ok ty
ill look into it
I’m assuming you mean major, so I would suggest pre-med, bio-med, or maybe nursing
If you just do bio can u still do med
School
Later on
I heard you have to be fluent or really proficient in Spanish to be able to pass AP Spanish. If you native speaker or speak it at home then sure go ahead, but if your not then maybe hone your Spanish skills first. I’m not an expert though so get other people’s opinions to.
@deft maple
I feel like it doesn’t really matter what you major in if you want to go to med school just as long as the major relates to the medical field somehow
I’m not an expert though so maybe get other opinions, but I think biology would be fine
Isn’t that normal
NOT HERE
Lunch should be 1 hour tbh
I GET 25 MIN INCLUDING GETTING LINCH AND FINDUBT MY FRIENDS
bruuuh what
40 minutes should be the minimum
How do you even finish ur food
bruh
Bc I’m hungry earlier
But won’t you get hungry at like 3 pm
Actually I eat like half of my munch before not the whole thing
when does school end for u
ah
but it messes up ur dinner
do u eat breakfast
No I’m not hungry after I wake up
i force myself to eat lol
I drink milk bc Asian parent
I have to eat 2 eggs because asian parent
My doctor has been trying to get me to eat breakfast
But when it doesn’t mess up my concentration in skool I don’t see the problem
ur doctor?
Yeah
do u visit them often
Nope
Once a year checkup the topic always comes up
u have checkups?
Yearly checkups yes
Like yk to see ur height and weight and stuff to make sure ur growing fine
And to see if u hv anything wrong with ur body
yeah im thinking of pre med
Your major doesn’t have to relate to medicine at all. There are just pre-req classes you have to take
I think im going to take micro bio
That’s cool
But you’ve still got 4.5 years so
You’ve got time
Cool
wait so what type of ECs do colleges except? Like can I put all my ECs on my app even if they're not as significant?
They don’t expect anything
People like different things
So whether a that’s
Sports, clubs, coding, research, playing an instrument
Whatever it is
Once you find the things you like
You want to try to grow in it
Grow, show impact, get better, show why you’re passionate abt it
oh ok ty rn im doing kung fu and im mostly interested in newspapers, yearbooks, and publications
That’s cool
i do a lot more but these are my main
ok ty
my academic interest is in electrical and electronics engineering
should i take dual enrollment courses related to electrical engineering
or ap comp science principles and comp science a?
Take ap physics c e&m
Would you guys suggest doing a subject based on how good you are it or how much you like it??
Both.
If you despise the subject but really good at it, you'll just have a miserable time with it
And vice versa
I kinda have an ultimatum like that. I’m bad at my favourite subjects and good at the ones I don’t like.
May I ask what year you're in and what you're planning to major?
I’m in my finial yr (yr 12), and I don’t have a career path planned out.
Are you taking a leap year?
Almost certainly
Ok so that's fine, you should've probably had a few ideas by now though, I can help you with the decision making if you like though
I don't know why I said though twice...
I have a preference for mathematics and physics however those are the subjects I’m doing worst in. And I don’t plan on going into a career path if I don’t like the content.
Yes please
I have 4 subjects that I can drop this year.
Extension maths,
Hospitality
Business studies
Physics
The others I have to take
So are you dropping all of those?
No I can drop one subject and these are the ones i can drop,
ohhh
Drop hospitality
The other ones are essential
Now, if maths and phys aren't your strong suits but you want to pursue them unless you plan to go on a tiring spree of learning of physics, I suggest going the maths route.
But hospitality scales well ( will give me a good score) , is easy, and will give me multiple certifications that have already gotten me job offers
But do you like what you're doing there?
It would definitely do you well if your follow it on, but quesiton is, do you want to?
Not particularly but it give me to opportunity to make the most of university as I would have to spend less time working, saving and looking for a good job while I work towards my desired career ( when I find it)
I’m ranked 6th out of 24 class mates for physics and 8 out of 9 in extension maths. Despite working on maths everyday 😦
Here's the thing though.
Physics is a branch of science, meanwhile maths is a branch in itself.
Or well "Branch of study"
You can work on mathematics everyday, but if you want to pursue mathematics you have to choose which type as different types could lead to differnet opportunities.
My biggest concern is that I’ll never be good enough to make a career out of these subjects. And I don’t know how to improve enough for that not to be an appropriate consideration.
Which is why you need to take advantage out of a leap year. Personally I believe physics is a difficult topic as you would've needed to probably study it thoroughly for a while now or already be a good ad it which as you stated, and it also includes some skills of mathematics. But not all as like I mentioned, mathematics is a branch of study and has many different branches to it. If you believe you can study strong for this year and your leap year. You won't get into an Ivy but you can still get into a very good accredited college/university.
Or you can drop them both and try find something else.
And I can always help you if you need maths help, Im not amazing in everything but maths was one of my strong suits I just never pursued it.
I think my preference is to stay the maths route. But I’m going to continue consulting my teachers and our schools career advisor. I talked to my business studies teacher today. She strongly suggested I continued her as I was on track for a band 5 and a good chance of a band 6 ( in our system, you are placed into one of 6 bands with 6 meaning you achieved 90% or above.)
I mean business and maths to work very well together
Additionally I think I ranked in the top three for hospitality.
Statistics, data analysis, algebra and probably a bit more
That's pretty good
But also you could take the business route solely
I don’t know what to choose but thank you for your help and insight, I’ll have to continue thinking about this. But I’ll definitely take your advise into consideration.
Thank you for your time and I’ll probably take you up on that offer of maths help!! 🙂🙂
All good, if you ever want to reach out again for anything then that's not a problem. Have a great day!
what should I do in my freshman year of high school? I aspire to become a lawyer, in freshman year the only AP courses provided are AP seminar. Anyone got tips for ec’s and courses?
What ap classes u take really don't have a massive impact on becoming a lawyer if im being honest
seminar is defo good to have tho
really just do APs that you feel passionate abt
If you need to have certain APs to graduate with a certain honour or of a certain class rank, take them if your goal is to get that honour or rank
But becoming a lawyer is such a long process that not taking certain AP classes doesn't rlly hurt u that much in the end
You should do some courses that fill out gen Ed requirements like English 101/102
are the gen ed requirements the same thing as grad requirements? im confused
if not, then how do you find the gen ed requirements?
Gen Ed depends on the college but gen Ed is the credit requirements everyone has to take so usually English 101/102 would be required for everyone no matter the major
AP Stat
I need to pick what course I want to do by Thursday, and I still have no idea
What I want to do
I live in Scotland, so for my last year in high school I picked 3 advanced highers: Maths, Physics and English
I like problem solving, but I also want creative freedom.
oooooo ok ty!
does anyone want to help kinda critique or finalize my plan for next year’s courses
don’t judge the notepad it’s old
idk whether to do physics or chemistry
should i take ap csp or ap lit
well do you know what u wan't to do in the future
nah but i really like history so i’ll prob go into smth like that
but
maybe
law
i’m not sure
you think it’d be smart to do chem so i can do ap chem the next year and organic chemistry 2 years after
organic chemistry is the second level of college chem
but this also all depends on how i like js a normal chemistry class so
it’s just a rough draft
assuming i like chemistry
im interested in law, and at my school, junior year has a lot of really interesting electives for law. at the same time, thats when a lot of important AP courses are available too. should i prioritize one over the other?
Prioritize AP Stat
if im going into a stem major do i still need to take ap lang and lit
yes im in stats this year
im having trouble finding the general education requirements for my desired colleges
can you go to dms?
to major in comp sci in college, will I be okay if I don't take ap physics c in high school?
I mean l'm going into a stem major
and I am
solely for the fact that I hate regular english clases
so I'd say go ahead if you can handle the workload
Did you go on their website?
You don’t have to but English is usually required for all majors. It’s usually under Gen-Ed requirements
Also if you get a 5 on the AP lang or lit exam you can get credit for English 101/102 usually depends on the college though
Take classes ur interested in
There’s prob some overlap- US gov and politics for example
And AP Stat
What classes should I take in high school (im a freshman) if I’m trying to get a degree in Business Information System
Currently I got Business and Marketing, English, Nutrition and Wellness, AP Environmental Science, Geometry, Photography
The AP classes my school offers are: Bio 1B, Calculus AB, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Human Geo, Language/Composition, Literature/Composition 1, Physics 1, Phycology, Spanish (can’t do it until I got the prerequisite), US GOV and Politics 1, US history 1, World History 1
Those are all the AP classes at my school
Hm alright, but what would I even switch out
Okay, thank you though
yea i tried many websites for many different colleges
its just not clear
What college are you interested in, I could try to find it for you
guys spanish II and ap princ. comp sci or nah
should do honors english to fix that spelling
Depends on the college’s foreign language requirements
I would talk to your principle about getting dual enrollment classes with a local community college. Does your local community college let high school students take their classes?
You should probably ask your principal to do survey on students if their interested in obtaining college credit. The biggest problem is finding teacher qualified for teaching AP or IB.
You can also self study AP exams or CLEP. I never tried self studying though.
The high school credit or the college credit?
So self studying AP and CLEP gives no high school credit but does give college credit if you pass. I don’t know if you already knew that
@vocal walrus also with dual enrollment classes you may have to take the Accuplacer, SAT, or ACT first. I would suggests Accuplacer since it’s the easiest. You can take the SAT or ACT later if you plan to go to a four year university
league
it’s gon be hell but it’ll look good . i’m sure you’ll be fine but u might get some sleepless nights
personally i wouldn’t, i’ve capped out at 5 in 1
It is very easy
You can do khan academy for 1 hour a day for 5 months and get a 5 on the exam
AB not bad BC is tough
Khan academy is very good
I’m not listening to a word you say
Grass you’ve said every ap is easy
Honestly I'm in calc AB rn and it's been really easy, can't comment on the exam though (ofc) and this is also coming from someone who picks up math very easily
So take that with a grain of salt
I'm planning on doing 6 in my senior year but honestly I'd probably do 7 if I had the option (engineering takes up a slot so I can't take another AP unless I give up engi)
But honestly don't do that
I already get sleepless nights with my current 3 AP 1 AICE
Tbf that's because I procrastinate wayyyy too much
But still
I’m taking classes for ap chem, ap physics 1, and ap human geo, ap physics c-mech, and I’m self studying for ap environmental science and ap physics 2. Im also doing ap calc bc test
Hopefully I survive. I might drop apes we’ll see
can someone give me advice for AP world history and honors english?
Would it be a good idea to self study AP world history?
Ive been taking notes from textbooks and yt vids
And practicing writing
And I have a 100 in general world history for my first quarter
And our general world history doesn't have a final exam
Hi, I am a freshman and I am currently taking Honors Algebra 2/Trig. Should I do Precalc over the summer to do Calc AB next year. My current class is really easy for me.
Hi
yes
Yeah its totally possible
geometry is not too difficult
just start studying some Geometry rn
its different obviously since its geometry but i would say its a bit harder
I have a question are the summer geometry courses honors?
depending on your school
its hard to say because geometry is a total different thing. you gotta remember vocabulary, theorems etc.
yes
do it if possible
I hear other than the triangles it's ez
yeah mostly its easy
oh nice
i might do Calc AB as sophomore
and do precalc over summer
yea
ap stats
depends i think
in my school if you complete Alg 2 u can do stats after that
enjoy middle school when you can don't worry too much lol
we have choice of bio or bio honors in our school so im in bio honors
for freshman
what state r u from
ahh ok
im in Bay Area rn
so its quite competitive
like SF
San Jose
area
yeah
yeah
same
basically same
what do u enjoy doing
oh same lol
yea northern cali is super duper competitive
also im asian so even more
any ap's that u get to do freshman
?
im only allowed to do CSP which is super boring
and really easy
if you have any cs experience
CSA is more fun than CSP but still quite easy
CSP is more conceptual
no CSA next year
but i have sophomore friends who tell me a lot abt that class
AP CSP
except that no
cuz we r not allowed to
yea
yeah i would say so
im in a catholic private hs
and theres literally applications to get into the high school
and only like 25% of ppl get in based on either good grades or like good sports or other ec's
my friend goes to this school and hes a freshman and hes doing 6 ap courses
that is way too much for a freshman i feel
AP Calc AB, AP Gov, AP CSA, AP Phys 1, AP Psych and I forgot one more
and thats the average
in their school
its like some really expensive private school
Do y'all think I should self study AP world history
what grade are you in?
9
i would say no
I have gen world history
Post AP stuff in senior year lol
world history exam is hard to self study i heard
and i have been taking notes on it from textbooks and online
and our gen world history doesnt have a final exam
and i got a 100 on gen world history my first quarter
then do it if you enjoy world history
and are confident you will get a 4 or a 5
im just worried i might screw up the dbq
yeah thats way too much most freshman there sleep at like 2 am and have like multiple cups of black coffee per day
they even had like homework on their school trip to the east coast
like thats way too much
most freshmen only take 1 ap class
if u enjoy the subject do it
dont worry too much
in my school
same
i am also self studying AP ES on my own cuz its easy
in my school they mainly do ap world
cuz they substitute it with normal world
i couldnt do it cuz i moved in this summer
what state?
ohio
lol what state u in
nice
i dont think its doing so gud rn lol
Maryland
alr imma go study for a bio quiz i have tmrw
gl
yeah its only 5
next week daylight savings ends right?
i registered at my school
there isnt any qualification
no
i dont think so
wdym
also top 2.5% qualifies for AIME
if uve heard of it
before
American Invitational Mathematics Examination
3000 i think per year
a bit less than that
i think
yeah
its quite hard to achieve
noo
Hey
im horrible at competitive math
There we go
yeah there's also an AMC 8 for middle schoolers i did that last year
yeah
no
8, 10, and 12
also do u know abt usaco since ur interested in cs
Hii I’m Anna/annabella
Wat about geography
usa computing olympiad
Wat other subjects r out there
u shud look into it
its 100% online and free for anyone to do
depends
there are tiers
based on how well u do on contests
do what interests you
cool
cool
oh nice we have a table of how many ppl got accepted to what schools each year
yeah one sec
What is AQR math and would it be better to take than Honors Pre Cal?
huh isnt pre-cal an ap class now
You in a robotics team?
No
Depends on your background with music
If you know nothing at all, it’s going to be hell
But if you know like notes and scales and chords it’s not going to be that bad
Its also a lot easier if you’re a pianist
is it harder than like rcm theory
I play piano
Yeah but a lot of schools haven't started off in it yet because it's so new
So will AP Music Theory be hard
level 10 rcm is ap level
can you fluently read music and do you understand the difference between whole steps and half steps
and also major vs minor scales
if so then it’ll be hard but not like pulling all nighters hard
wut
Wait i did that already
so ap music theory should be no problem?
yeah lol
like when I was 12
Is ARCT harder
Than ap music theory
cuz i started that but like gave up
Wait there’s harmony and history though
yes lol arct is literally the equivalent of a BS in music
yeah
so the history doesn’t apply
But ap music theory is basically just like building on SATB chorales
And doing more counterpoint analysis
so it’s a teensy bit more material
bruh
Theres 11 year olds who took it
u realize that ap is assuming they know nothing about music right
so like in one year they speedrun scales up to counterpoint
oh lol
which is lowkey insane
did you take it?
Do you know stuff about music
arct?
yes lol I passed level 10
Hell no
lol same
I don’t wanna go into music so there’s no point
Is the AP beneficial
ummm I’m just taking it to be like “wow yet another ap”
How many aps do you have
But unless you wanna do music it literally doesn’t matter
I’m doing 4 this year
My school doesn’t have aps cause it’s already college rigor so those are the only aps imma take
oh lol
Cause I have to self study every one
If i do music theory im gonna have 6 aps
damn okay
Which is nice ig
How old are you…? Cause that’s rlly impressive
its the easiest
I’m in calc now and I’m more advanced than most people
eh its doable
My friend did it in 8th
i feel like most sophomores if they have like
a good absis of algebra and trig
can do calc
im in canada
Ohh checks out
heck people my age (freshmen) can do it i bet
no but you have actually good teachers
Since no aps at school
no
really depends on the region tbh
school shootings :///
Our geo teacher pointed to iran and said syria
💀
our chem teacher is like senile
I live in one of the best public school districts and it’s ass lmao
they tok calc in 8th
nono
We’re like 70% asian
I’m talking about the average student
Like obvi there’s insane people everywhere
But the average student is mid af
i mean tbh "average" is below average now
like everyone taking honors
from what ive seen
yeah ik someone who did that and chem and bio and physics
And got 1600 on sat in 8th
his dad teaches at harvard
ah makes sense
tbh chem and physics are a lot of understanding which like
really widens the range people can learn
like sure theres some just mechanical work
but at its basis its concepts
bc rn what im planning is to take math up to ODE and science up to orgo
and college bio w/ lab
but then that leaves no room except for summer courses
ordinary differential equations
yeah
nice
taking calc 1 + 2 as sophomore now calc 3 + lina lg in junior and ODE 1st semester senior
and then my second semester senior is stuffed with humanities so i can graduate
I have another friend who finished multi variable and linear alg online in sophomore
eh i dont think i wana do online classes
im not sure how online works
cuz yeah i like learning but tbh i hate school
Fr
only reason i do decently is bc i put the bare minimum to achieve me goals
💀
esp since i just got out of middle school im still used to doing the bare minimum
are you in a hard school
i mean its on a college so the last actual year in HS is sophomore year
other than that you only take college classes in junipr + senior years
so not really hard but not easy
its really what you decide it to be
wait you don’t have to take aps?
U just take college level classes
yeah
Which are way harder
like its ON a community college
is it in us?
ive never taken an AP so idk if its like as hard or not
yeah
in florida
but rn my only college class (calc 1) is pretty chill
what university do you want to go to
well due to like some special agreement or smth
yeah calc 1 is chill
im guaranteed UF
so tbh im only gonna apply to "bang-for-your-buck" schools
even if theyre complete crapshoots
ik someone who went there
JHU, MIT, etc lmfao
i really want to go to jhu
my school had a lot of jhu admissions
Yes
Apparently jhu likes my hs
like competitive but not socially competitive?
last year there was a columbia, stanford, and harvard + yale combined
Same
We have almost 20 top us uni admissions every year
damn
but i dont wanna dwell too much on college atp my old friends in literal 7th grade were stressing
🗿
like im doing ECs but just for my personal interest and thats also what im tryna do for alsses
classes
Are ur grades good?
yeah
also do ur percentages show up on ur transcripts
we have percentages bruh
my lowest grade is like chem with a 93 and my hgihest (ironically) is calc with a 99.5 lmfao
like everyone be competing for the 100%💀💀
my school doesnt have A- or A+ so u just need a 90+ to get a 4.0
which im grateful for
my lowest grade is literally 93 for english💀
our english teachers mark really hard
my english teacher is so chill
actually lucky
she gave us extra credit if we turned in a little illustration on a postcard relating to an assignments theme
