even for a baseline thats tough
Nah I've got time
you have to get atleast a 1540
sorta
nah
they r the same
psat is just capped
like i did a 1560 psat freshman year
trying for that 1600 on real sat
But I've been studying for a while
I got a 1010
gonna take the sat senior year which is in one year
its ok man
tips on reading?
where u tryna go to college
The state college prob
Rutgers
I love rutgers
For cs unless I get into an another good cs college
What about something that is less time consuming and more efficient than that?
well
if u need max performance
read a fucking dictionary
I’ve heard Kahn academy is pretty good, gonna do it for the whole year consistently. Hopefully it pays off
Isn't that for writing based though? Not for reading?
nah
it helps
ong
that and do a fuckton of practice tests
so many
like take it a ton of times
is there more of a "syllabus" way? As in like, if I was bad at math in circles, I would target circles and just do em until I understand them
Any good free online resources, like khan academy??
Is there a Khan Academy on PSAT?
How do you learn from your mistakes and how do you classify your mistakes?
do you mean a PSAT on the kHan Academy? If so, yes
Connect ur college board acc and he
I will give u the trick
take it'
Ye*
yes sir
like the question types?
the questions
find out exactly what u suck at
and then target that
more tests
yessir
more practice problems
do you read any of the SAT books such as Erica Meltzer?
I know a kid who did this and got from a 1200 to a 1550
nah
they suck
only good for less than 1450
so best way is to review your mistakes
yes
and what about grammar? Isn't that based on more on the rules and concepts of grammar like subject verb agrreement?
yeah, i struggled with grammar
personally
i found a dictionary
Alr
I'll grind PSAT Khan Academy
makes life easier
That’s what I’m tryna do
1 year to study
1600 soon fr
1 month
1010 to 1600
To PSAT
October?
Yes
id work on noredink
work on the topics you don't know
I got that one too but it’s too late to cram study
3-5 hours a week
cap
its never too late to cram
Taking 4 aps so it’s kinda tough
I will say
How much should I do
do 20 hours a week
My studying has slowed down due to schoolwork and ECs
Do you know the SAT Panda writing book?
nah
But I'm going to pick the pace up
noredink? what's that?
sorry man
maybe over the summer
Study AP's
Free?
then SAT
Ye that’s my plan
idk, my school uses it
how much is that per day if I get home at around 5
it helps you with grammar and structure of sentences and punctuation
Our school don’t care the average is a 1050 for us
i did like 2-3 hours a day
for a couple months
yikes, I don't know if I have the time for that. I sleep at 9:30 as well.
yeah
probably do an hour a day
what grade?
but like a real productive hour
9;30 is bad
go to sleep later
i usually do 2-3
am
I can't, I wake up early for school since I bike to school
when does your school start
Junior year
tough
you can't just force someone to go to bed later, people need their sleep lol and hteyre in high school
it starts earlier
Starts at 8:30 but I gotta go early in the morning since I live 7 - 8 miles away from the school, and I live near traffic and school zones. Going late means more cars, more parents dropping off their kids, so on.
not forcing him
Discipline
Jesus, thats tough man
I try to do what I can.
Planning to just get a 1450+ on the SAT, so I can temporarily forget about it and focus much more on my school work like Math and such
9:30 is early AF
yeah
thats fine
do u get a lot of hw?
i get home at like 3:30
i dont stuart anything till 4:30
I do.
what time do u sleep
Manage my school work or my sleep?
both
mine is but my skool is supposed to b rigorous
well school just started so rn i sleep at 10
yeah im a freshman & i sleep at 9:30
idc bout getting some B's but i need my sleep
Sleep: think of the strictest person you know, and they will give you consequences whether is good or bad if you sleep at the exact time you need
School: 80/20 rule, hyper focus/state of flow for 45 mins. Better to study for 45 mins focused than to study for 4 hours unfocused.
OHHH
do u get everything done in 45 mins?
No no that was just an example 💀
like ong
u can do all studying in an hour
I'm taking 5 APs and it never takes long
just grind
ohh
hmm ok
research about the state of flow
Should you test out of different subjexts
Hey guys I was wondering whether it would be a better idea to self study for the ap calculus ab or ap calculus bc exam. (Just some background information is I havent taken any ap exams yet since my school doesnt offer any besides ap physics 1 which I am taking this year. I also am taking a college precalc class this semester and calculus class next semester so I dont know how much those coincide in terms of like curriculum. And in terms of extracurriculars they arent in the best place rn so I do want to put alot of attention into that this year by making some coding projects.) Any advice or help is appreciated. Oh and Im currently a junior
yes
bc
why
u do better subjects
Just wondering like how much harders is calc bc than ab
ok
not much
Ok thank you for the advice I appreciate it
Ok I’m probably gonna research a lot more tn about the differences myself see what I’m comfortable with
Thank you for the advice
dude i literally cant function properly w/o 8h
i've tested this on myself and im most productive w/that
ur just lucky
You
Ayr aye
Which is easy apush vs apwh
apush is free
Is psychology and animal science hard classes?
Free what
easy
difficulty = apush>apwh (in general)
difficulty of the course is more dependent on your teacher and school than the actual material tbh
very real
facts
literally in it
LMAOO
its really teacher dependent also
maybe u have a good teacher
yeah
Should I take AP calc BC Sophomore year?
I’m in Algebra 2 rn, I wanna take precalc over the summer
yeah
sure'
i took bc freshman year, it wasn't too bad
Damn are you fr
Was the exam bad
Then what did you do for the rest of your high school
It's very doable to do precalc over the summer and take BC sophomore year
I tried doing that but my school put me in AB because BC would've ruined the rest of my schedule
Precalc in 6 weeks was a lot but as long as you put your mind to it
Then you can do it
I would only get 3 years of Math though: Algebra 2, Calc BC and Multivariable Calc. Is that enough to get into a good college?
You can take smth like stats. Your 4th year, or take another class thru a nearby college
Doesn’t Stats count as a business class?
stats is not a business class-
its applicable to business
yeah
or u can do stats in addition
like i did stat freshman
Hey. I just wanted to ask if anyone is from the University of Texas, Austin.
Just ask your question, you’re more likely to get help
OK. I wanted to ask the chances of recieving admission I'm UT Austin as a backup school.
We can’t tell you
Nobody in the world can tell you
Haha OK. Thanks anyways
The acceptance rate is the best thing you’ve got
Yeah
Also
Make sure your sat/act and gpa are within the 25th percentile
You can find that on their common data set
isnt it usually 75th?
No 25th is usually considered minimum
But, you don’t need to be 25th either
You could be in the 1st percentile and still get in
Precalc online should count for a credit
So that would be 4 math credits
But if all your school has is those then there's no need to take precalc online over the summer unless you think your school will get another math class by the time you're done with those, or if you just don't wanna take math senior year
And plus, if you took algebra 1 and geometry in middle school then that should still go on your transcript
So I'm in my junior year of highschool and I wanna start thinking about next year
I'm currently taking AP calculus ab, AP environmental, APUSH,a video class,English,Spanish 2X and in choir
Should I take Spanish AP next year
And second question
Is it better for me to take econ/government in the summer or during the school year cause I also really need to join a program called upward bound
it depends on how you think youll do in ap spanish lo
if ur gonna get a 3 and c prolly not
but if ur confident do it
and it also depends on ur goal ig
@glad vapor
I don't really think I'll do good
I know Spanish but like at writing it
It's like
Ewwww
So yeah
in order to practice speaking just go to twitter lol
i got fluent by talking soccer on spanish twitter
i took 3 years of spanish and with other additional classes im fluent in it
im also fluent in two other languages
But in your personal opinion
Was it worth it
And by that I mean I mean was it good for your college resume
Is this a good sophmore schedule?
AP Precalculus
AP Seminar
Biology 1
AP USH
AP Physics 1
AP Stats
Adv. Spanish 3
AP Chemistry
Symphony Orchestra
anyone here taken ap french?
Sophomore of junior schedule
Cause like if your taking APUSH as a sophomore
You just be pretty advanced
Also 9 classes mate
Are you in high school or college
bro
💀
wtf is this crazy ahh schedule
ru tryna commit suicide
A day B day schedule
Its what most of my classmates chose, and I can switch out of a few aps if its to hard (ap physics, stats, and precalc are required)
That's what I'm thinking bro
If bro think he can live this he dead
doesnt matter if ur classmates chose it
Rule number one
Never go with
It's what my classmates chose
Real
but if u can handle it then sure
I think its going good so far, but Ill prob switch out of apush for adv
ah
But 9 classes as a sophomore man?
It is only the first few weeks
Are you sure you can handle the next
Idk bro, I might switch out of a few based on the next few days
4 aday-bday classes (1.5hr each)+0hr
Yall enter a 7 right
It would make sense if y'all enter at 7
Ah makes sense
My school starts at 8:30 and ends at 3:30
So we have 3 classes for A and B days
Along with a 7th
me?
were u asking me
yea i got into UCLA so... 😏
Goated bro
I'll try and pass Spanish 2X with a B+ or A
And do ao
Ap
I'll follow your lead bro
ye
should i do dual credit or ap
do both
Is taking Multivariable Calc + Diff EQ (1 class)/Linear Algebra (separate class) in the same year a bad idea? Would be junior yr, would also be taking AP E/M/Lang/APUSH same yr w/ foreign language (3rd yr).
I struggle in ap gov and you are saying apush is easy 🙄
I took ap gov this year what should i take next year
apush
Is it like required? Can i take civics instead of apush?
depends on ur school but it’s def not required
Oh then i will take civics its easy and less work load for me i dont even like social studies tbh but my friend recommended thats why i took it
How many AP classes do you need for your college application?
There’s no set amount. Aim for 8. 5 of the 8 should be serious “hard” AP’s ex. Apush, Lang, Bio. The other three should be easier elective AP’s that u have an interest in Ex. Ap Psychology, AP Comp Sci Principles, AP Human Geo
You don’t need to aim for 8
Just take as many as you can handle
Also depends what your school offers
8 is not the magic number
Typically you want to be taking the same or more as your classmates
As you’ll be judged first and foremost in the context of your school and local area
ok ty
Got it.
do whatever you want don't burn urself out
what classes should i take for ninth grade and what should i be doing in the summer of eight grade.
choose what classess you find interesting bc now's the time to explore
k
also maybe look at this: https://discord.com/channels/876189935382704210/1009980743147081799
and make a 4 year plan on ur classess so u can see how many credits you'll end up with
yes i got an idea
Is taking Multivariable Calc + Diff EQ (1 class)/Linear Algebra (separate class) in the same year a bad idea? Would be junior yr, would also be taking AP E/M/Lang/APUSH same yr w/ foreign language (3rd yr).
Ap seminar review?
I took it freshman year and it wasn’t too difficult (though the ap test sucked)
Basically just worked on making better presentations and making essays using evidence from different sources
Hi, I need to do my uni applications and deadline is tomorrow, any suggestions for a good course to do with reasoning for the subjects maths, physics and chemistry?
My school just realeased all the information related to aps. As a freshman, should I self study any of them and if so which one
What subjects are you good at that your school offers a ap course for
is economics gcse good?
Is physics hard?
I’m planning to take normal physics cause I heard it’s really difficult and I don’t think I’d be able to keep up with the higher up physics classes, but I’m also curious about AP physics 1 and AP physics 1 & 2. Would I be better off taking regular physics or AP physics?
Physics is a major hit or miss for people. I don't have AP physics offered at my school but still, a lot of normally smart people struggle with regular physics. It depends on how good you've been at understanding physics so far. AP physics classes are pretty difficult compared to some APs though.
👍
Depends how motivated you are. It is one of the harder AP classes but it’s still possible to pass
Whats the hardest GCSE science? (UK)
Study what you find interesting
Don’t get burnt out
Probably biology personally
I just did my GCSEs and I think biology was the hardest because of the sheer amount of content
It has the most to memorise out of any of the subjects and there just way more content
People been saying biology and chemistry and i agree on those rn
I just started gcse triple science cuz its mandatory where i go
im just thinking what to be prepared for
Should I take one or two
As much as u can handle
I’m taking all the highest level classes possible: algebra 2-honors, English 1 honors, us history honors( teacher said we learning the ap version), biology honors, French 2-honors
Wait I might take ap us history
And ap bio?
Cuz it’ll be similar to honors version
I’m currently taking it
Concepts r easy to understand but it goes at an extremely fast pace
So expect hw and a lot of self studying
Gotcha
Thank you!
Do you have a book you use to study?
Or do you just look at online videos/notes given to you?
Nah but my teacher provides us with lots of worksheets and review
College board videos help a lot to understand the topics

I doubt you’d be able to take ap bio, though you might be able to ask about it?
At my school you could only take regular bio or honors bio freshman year
Me too, took Honors Bio and it was rly gd
I wasn’t able to take honors bio but reg bio was still neat
Loved my biology teacher
Makes me convinced that most bio teachers are generally gd coz mine was rly gd as well
I dont knnow what to think of my teacher
first 3/4 days she loved me but then on the 4th day before the weekend she got hella pressed cuz i was talking about math to my friend
and she said she gave a 7 as a markinng period grade to someone last year and im kinda scared
Is AP bio alot harder than honors bio?
Junior
Would they take bio freshman AND ap bio junior or would they do something else freshman year
I think it's good to take regular bio first
Like AP Bio won't necessarily be an intro to Bio, so you may need some background
Taking Chem before is also rly helpful
So like sophomore year
Yeah
Do it, I'm also going for that too
schools typically require honors bio before AP Bio
and honors chem before AP Chem
so make sure you take those first
Exactly, but mine says you can surpass the Honors Chem if you take Regular chem + Honors Alg 2
not mine
just bio
is needed for me
you can but its highly recommended you take honors bio/chem lol
because ap bio and chem are very rigorous courses
if you dont have previous knowledge, you will struggle
it's the one ppl think of when you mention "keep it in the family" 👀
Lmao
@fathom wind
Alr
Exactly 💯
I took Honors Bio freshman yr
Yeah I'm taking honor bio rn
I got a 95 first semester so that's pretty good
Yeah, like asking questions and being proactive in labs
And don't forget THE EXTRA CREDIT
Yeah
She hasn't given any yet
But my aphg teacher gave like 40 points of it and I think it saved my grade
My AP Psych teacher gives us +25 to 30 pts for doing handwritten flashcards so I'm trying to do that RN since I have an 81 avg LOL
It's mostly because of the daily reading quizzes, otherwise I'm getting A's in the chapter tests
No WAYYY
The highest avg I got was a 108 and that was Honors Bio last yr
Nice
Is there like a certain chapter/unit in bio that u had to really study for like more than the others
Ohh, yes, Genetics. Like everything abt DNA, RNA, and transcription/translation
Tho that's second semester
Ok cool
can someone explain to me what is the study of philosphy at early stage?
BEST TEXAS COLLEGES for COMP SCI?
I’m only a sophomore in hs but I’m going to guess I’ll end up with around a 3.7 1300 SAT 28 ACT with 100 community service hours (Y.E.S) with not much ECs besides Varsity soccer and Excel club
Ok so my highschool does a major thing where you take classes for it in your junior and senior year. I want to apply for the aerospace engineering major because that's what I'm interested in but it's mainly pltw classes
And if I get in I might not be able to take AP calc junior year
If I get into the math major I can take AP calc junior year but I'm not rly interested in math
But I want to have enough rigorous courses
I will be able to take multivariable senior year if I choose math major too
ut austin a&m utd
What is that and how do you get it
bro wtf your gpa must be enjoying that
Fr bruh
my school doesnt have extra credit even allowed
It's dropped a little but it's still crazy
Oof
what is it
Like 140
is that even allowed for colledges
Idk
So im taking ap chem for college credit, since its dual enrollment i dont need to take the ap exam. I wanted to know if i should be taking it, what college majors would the credit count for
Is AP Gov. easy?
should i take csp if i plan on going for a cs major w/no background or should i j take ap csa?
it is if you took APUSH in the past
If u actually know nothing take CSP ig
idk ppl say its useless
& some took csa w/o csp w/no knowledge
Idk I’m taking it rn & do far it’s kinda hard for me
Bc ik barely anything bout computers & stuff
Ig depends on skool
And teacher’s strictness
is ur school difficult
Yes it’s supposed to be rigorous
should i take the AP calc BC exam at the end of this school year? i will already have the creds for calc 1 + 2 bc dual enrollment but i was wondering if taking the AP test would do anything significant
oh ic
shit i forgot to change my user
Idk maybe more college credit if that’s possible?
i mean my creds are guaranteed transfer to all florida schools. but i was wondering if also OOS would accept the BC credit
its like a program that kind of helps you get ready for university
is jsut super hard
its a inernational program
like theres ckids form evreyonwhere
at my school
tryna od it
Hey guys
I am looking for a double majors in computer science and economics will it be very difficult to do a double major
Hii
I'm starting university soon and it's been really hard for me to pick a major....I've shortlisted some degrees I'm interested in and which have good future prospects but I still don't know which one to choose. I'm also a bit confused between computer science and computer engineering. Although I know the difference but I can't decide which is better.
I'll be really grateful if anyone doing the same major(computer science/engineering) could help me a bit.
double majors would be a little easier if it goes along with both majors like what im doing with political science and social policy analysis. econ and comp sci are both different fields of studies but if you can pull it off, that'll be good
if you like hands on and building components like lego pieces, computer engineering is a great way if you enjoy playing with hardware. it could be hardwork but well worth the amount of money that you get
if you like the technical and creating puzzles mathematically, comp sci is better if you enjoy the software. it is a popular major and often stereotyped to death, but companies will pay big bucks for you if you contribute something new to a software
What kind of jobs can I get as a computer engineer? Hardware building and stuff?
data analyst/engineer/scientist, software dev like full stack, cyber security stuff, machine learning
after taking precalc in junior year, is it worth it to take calc AB or calc BC to get into computer science majors
Take BC
You can take AB but BC will look better for colleges and prepare you mathematically in the long run for calc
And if you get a 5 on BC, some colleges will let you skip a math class
Does taking Algebra II in sophomore year look bad to top colleges
No
Well it prob could based off the colleges you want to go to
Whats your dream school
Ok
Its listed as very important but I think you should be fine if you got good grades on all your math classes and take calc BC
And it will be balanced out of you have a big gpa and good essay
Ok thank you
Np
Should I take physics 1 or 2 for my junior year
Yes
Ok
Or you can take physics 1 and do c next year
Which is better tho
C would be nice
But its useless if its too hard and you get bad grades and a low exam score
So you should start off with 1 or 2 in junoir year and chose between those two based off your knowledge
Ok thanks that's all
Np
Which is better AP Lang or English 101/102?
Depends rly. At my school, a college course earns you 0.5 less than an AP class, and you may find an introductory college class to be no more than a high school Honors class (I said MAY) an AP class, in my opinion, is sorta better
I'm planning to take AP Lang (over Eng 102) nxt yr, so I've rly weighed the options and asked several teachers and juniors
is ap psych ez cuz i might take it this year(9th)
So what do you believe is the easiest
Hehheh, I lowkey have an 81% RN , but don't worry, it's coz I'm not getting everything in the daily rading quizzes
I took it freshman year and easiest AP I’ve taken so far
Highly recommend free 5 if you know what you’re doing
hey im a student from india looking for a college abroad and i want to do smt with literature
can anyone suggest some courses?
History (I like) or Geography(don’t like but kinda good at)
Politics or economics(I don’t know which)
What should I choose
My school weighs dual credit the same as AP, so is there really no difference?
how much hw do u get per day in ap phys 1?
Depends on ur teacher
Wow
I believe it’s not just my school, it’s the whole state of South Carolina
Oh, do you find it better
Generally yes
At least college algebra I believe
It also depends on your major and what general education it requires
does calc 1 + 2 cover the same amount of material as AP calc BC
by calc 1 + 2 i mean like dual enrolled. its the same course material as UF (MAC 2311 and MAC 2312 if that helps)
Just depends on the teacher
It’s probably a little more intense
AP is a little bit easier than a college class material-wise I believe
Next semester I have to take a college science class, anyone know off the top of their head an easy class?
Like generally easy to understand but still a little interesting
Also like a generally easy class
Not something you silly nerds would take to use your gigantic brain
Smh
how much did u get?
^ and u?
I haven't taken it, I skipped and went to Phys C
We didn't get too much but diff classes
oh
I need help choosing electives and a science class for sophomore year
Y’all Im taking bio honors currently so should I take ap environmental science( I’m in 9th grade rn)
Also I plan on taking comp sci principles
FYI I want to go into business
What do y’all think
what field are u into and what classes are u currently taking?
Ok
So I’ve been taking band for 4 years now(4th year) made 1st chair region i trumpet last year
I really love that
I’m taking apcsp rn
Took an info tech course last year
And Chinese because I’m Chinese
And study hall
Taking honors biology this year
Not ap
Honors English 1
Honors geometry
Okay so I’m assuming you’re into a lot of tech based classes. Does your school offer any tech related clubs? Also, if you really want to get into it, consider taking dual credit classes. Keep up your math since you’re in honors geometry. I recommend doubling up on math junior year. But yeah dual credit courses would be so helpful. That’s the way I was able to find more closely relate courses associated with my major
Keep the band stuff up
Instead of APES, take Stat
And AP Macro/Micro and CS A
Good that ur taking CSP
Can you take APES as a freshman and do well?
I'm a junior having IB courses and currently in psychology. I would like some advice. Thanks
If I want to go into the medical field and become a doctor, specifically neurology specialist or something else neurology related (maybe neurosurgeon), what courses should I take in HS?
I’m a freshman btw
ap bio ap chem
Would it be more important to take ap bio or Chen
Chem
probably chem
I’m taking it this year I’m freshman
Y’all is it good that I’m taking ap csp and APES this year
And also should I take another ap or na
Is this course selection to vigorous for junior year?
(AP) US History
(AP) Physics
(Honors) Pre-Calc
(Honors) Chem
(Honors) English
(3) Spanish
MDA Portfolio
Gym & Health
My freshman GPA is 3.563, class rank is around the 37 percentile, currently taking Honors Algebra II and Geometry co-enrolled, Honors Bio and Honors world history with my highest grade an 100 in bio and my lowest an 86 in world history. I’ll probably also get a job in junior year too.
Are you doing well in it or is it a struggle
Not impossible, but only you can truly know what you can handle
I haven’t taken it yet ima self study
We need more context
Sure, an AP class is an AP class so yes ( very general answer)
- How much time are you spending on ecs 2. How much free time are you willing to spend on school 3. How hard are these classes (every class is different in difficulty depending on what school you go to)
It is better to ask upperclassmen/people who have taken these courses to get an idea of their difficulty than people on the internet with no clue about the course rigor
Some kids take 6 ap courses in a year and are fine, so it is not impossible but it depends a lot on your school and individual circumstances
Tell me how that goes I might try that next yr
Would start of second semester this year be early enough?
Depends on skool
How?
Different schools have different curriculum policies
My school for example doesn’t let freshman choose classes
Ye same we can’t they decide for us
However we can still self study aps
Ye we pick electives
Tbh idc cuz it didn’t affect me as I’m still in the highest possible courses
But there’s like a placement criteria here
Not in my school
We hv orchestra after school
Wow so you have like no extracurriculars from your school
But my school is a magnet school and magnet schools r supposed to be like that
Except orchestra
No we have clubs
What's that
They’re all during lunch or after skool
Magnet schools are schools where they specialize in 1 area
Oh
For example my school is built around STEM
I went to an art magnet school for middle school so that was built around art
They r usually a lot tinier and not as well rounded as normal school at
Like art or the arts
Do u like it or do u wish u went to a regular school
Arts but focus on visual art and humanities and history
They also typically have a lottery where u apply and get in by chance
Yeah I like less ppl and I also love art and science so yeah!!
The sport teams must be walk on right
Plus u don’t care about stuff like sports as much
I mean I wanna be healthy
But idc about football games
Yeah
Just my opinion
Bruh it’s fine
Idc ab sports but I would play baseball If I was any good lol
We don’t hv sports teams bc were tiny
Like 600 students
For 7th&8th I went to a k-12 private school
With 160 ppl
It was nice having fewer people but they had no APs and below average fine arts which is a big thing for me
Oh wow
Yeah
Why not 6th grade?
It was a whole thing I won't get into it but I had to move
If I can't get into calc bc should I do ab or stats
Ab
Whatever sounds more interesting to you
aps to take freshman year that have no pre reqs and I can self study fairly easily
AP CSP
What's the recommended amount of ap's for a hs junior
There is none
Typically you want to be taking the same or more as your classmates
I’m already taking that
I might take three: psych, human geo, and csp
How many years of spanish should I take (rn I’m a sophomore and got 1 middle school credit) I took 3H last year and taking spanish 4H this year (my school only requires 1 credit and passing a proficiency test in 3H) . I don’t know if I should take Spanish 5H junior year bec I also want to take stem electives instead of Spanish (planning to do something in stem for college) such as anatomy and physiology 1 and 2H, ap bio with lab instead of bio honors
Thanks for telling me before hand
AP Stats if you know what you’re doing
soo depends on your school. If your looking to apply to competitive colleges, take as many as you can handle or as much as you can. remember about the course load because selecting the AP classes is way easier than taking them.
I was thinking about taking that next year as my school doesn’t allow it
So i want to try to get into a good engineering school like UT. However, i dont know hwo many APs i should take or what courses i should do, any advice?
Is apes alot harder than honors bio
Is it worth joining NHS
A lil bit harder, but not by much.
Did u take ap CSP before ?
Current studying it
I am currently already quite fluent in chinese, should I take AP chinese as a 9th grader
I took the mock exam the school offers and I have a 5 on the mock
my chinese teacher told me to consider taking it this year
Have u done the unit 1 exam on code.org yet ?
Yes and no. It’s a credible program, but if you don’t end up doing it, it’s not gonna make or break ur app
Do it if you want to
What does NHS do
Community service
Don't u have to do a amount community service to join
Usually you have to do a certain amount of community service to stay in the club
It’s probably different for each school
You need a minimum GPA to join
does anyone know how to translate my gpa to the 4.0 scale bc rn it just shows it as in the hundreds?
Assuming you mean unweighted- for each class an A is a 4, a B is a 3, a C is a 2, and a D is a 1, and failing is 0 (I think). Just find the average for all the classes you’ve taken
For weighted, which takes course rigor into account, it’s different for each school and isn’t really standardized
rn it says I have a 100.263 for weighted gpa…
oh
Colleges you apply to will translate your grades to their scale
Most top schools just look at the transcript not the number
I just wanted to know bc I’m afraid it’s not good enough but thanks for the help
You can translate it to unweighted and compare it that way
Or google the amount of ap courses most applicants to a school take
Not yet, I recently started, abt a week ago. From my experience, it doesn’t seem like a very hard course yet
Should I self study the AP Precalc exam
Anyone got notes for ap psych or human geo
I’m in AP psych currently
Ye I’m looking to self study so I might need notes
on what
oh I’m currently taking it now so I only have notes for unit 1 on the scientific foundations of psychology
Could I get it 😂
they’re not great lol it’s in a packet that my teacher gave me
u could use chatgbt to help you .-.
I’d assume it’s easier than taking someone else’s notes
Aight thanks
Should I self study the AP Precalc exam
if you have a strong background in math then go for it
is apes easy to self study as a freshman
If you have a strong background in environmental science then yes
Should I self study 20 APs? 🤓🤓🤓
20 APs tf
i wasnt even allowed to take them as a underclassman AHHH
no but im taking honors bio and ive done scouts
guys should i take organic chem or differntial geometry as a neonatal baby??? i want to get into community college but everyone is saying im behind 😭
Pick what u want
do i need a level physics to study pre med in US universities or is one year of physics at the university i ll study enough?
Depends. I would suggest researching that is asking your counselor
too late
you now dont have time to solve quantum physics by age 2
dangit... my classmate had already hypothesized the complete field theory by then :( i don't think i will get accepted to elementary school
I just got accepted to a selective school for next year. Can someone help me with my subject choices? I only need 3 more and I don't know which one. I can explain more in dms. Please 😅❗
Is it important to take as many APs as you can because im in AP gov as a freshman and my teacher recomended me to AP American history but i have no intrest to do a course like that but i dont want it to look like i wasnt smart enougu
Usually orgo is done when ur a fetus, the national standard for neonatal is curing cancer
You may be a bit behind
Im exceptional in math
Anyone here majoring in law?
I want to do polisci then go to law school
Choose what ur interested in
If u hv no interest then don’t do it
Now the time to explore
should I skip pre-calc from Alg 2 and just go to ap calc ab
Not unless if u have a very very strong foundation
no
pre-calc is something u deff do not want to skip
yeah i skipped geometry a few years back and i really regret it
what math class should i skip becuase i think of skipping algebra 1 is it good
Honestly it's very doable but self study your unit circle and trig among other things
You gotta apply yourself
But I recommend taking precalc over the summer instead
That's what I did
Is it possible to do 7 AP tests in one year? I’ve never done an honors of AP course before: (4 AP classes for the test, AP Stats, Lit, APES, and macroecon) (2 for self studies, Microecon, and Human Geography) (1 for my precalc class, AP precalc) my classes are going well so far. Im exceptional in math, have a strong background in social studies, decent at science, and my worst subject is english
why do u want to do the ap precalc test? cuz it seems like ur gonna take ap calc ab/bc anyway, so you don't need to do ap precalc
as colleges would see ur ap calc score and it wouldnt matter if u did ap pre calc or not
Idk, I guess for shits and gigs mainly
should i take ap gov or ap macroecon/micro
i think 7 could be managable
im taking 6 tests for ap chem, ap hug, ap phys 1, ap phys 2, ap phys c, ap calc bc
All the physics😅
yeah all but em
What looks better: having an A-/B+ in Honors Chemistry (my school has few ap and honors classes)
or an A in standard Chemistry
for sure having a A-/B+ in honors classes in general
they are meant to be difficult
Okay so when colleges look at course rigor do they only look at the type e.g. standard, honors, AP, IB, or DE, or do that actually consider the courses themselves?
The type, usually the courses are the same for most HS students
Physics, bio, chem, math, whatever it is
But with like math, obviously calc is gonna be more advanced than geometry
But you can’t do the same for AP lang vs AP Lit yk?
I've taken classes that are more advance than normal (I think) college classes, calc 1, 2, and 3, differential equations, physics w/ calc 1 and 2 etc... (15 total DE courses)
I dont have that much going for me so I hope so,
I'm trying not to get my hopes up
You got it
Should I do ap lit
Ive heard it is challenging, If you are interested in literature go for it but if you just want more ap classes there are more manageable options,
I’m taking it rn, it’s a lot of reading but other than that not too bad
Could you please give me examples
Ooh ok, ty
I took AP comp sci and it was easy, you just have to get the fundamentals down and you're set
honestly even AP Calc AB and BC are solid (this is what friends have told me) as long as you have a good math background (trig/pre-calc)
Do I necessarily need to be in AP Calc BC to be eligible for med school? Is AB good enough?
Med schools in the US don’t care what classes you took in high school
Kk (:
I only have three subjects that I am strongly interested in which I selected. So I don't mind if someone can blind pick for me.
If anyone likes to help pick 5 more subjects for my subject selection, just dm me. It would be very appreciated! Thanks! 😊💫
what math class should i skip becuase i think of skipping algebra 1 is it good
Why can't they?
Alg 2 was the easiest class I’ve tooken
Alg 1 is the basis of all math, please don’t skip
I skipped geometry actually and got by just fine, now I’m doing college math in hs
In high school it’s pretty slack, I just talked to my counsellor and told her I was academically misplaced in math
I tried to do this. I would strongly recommend doing precalc in summer school because you need a super strong foundation in it to be decent at calc, also take some trig at least because they expect it of you
U would have to take an exam or smth that gives u the credit
I straight up didn’t take it
I tested out of it but I did not receive any credit
Is this a good line up of AP classes? APES, AP Stats, AP lit (I don’t wanna take the test for this one ):), AP Macroecon, and then I wanna self study AP microecon, and AP Human Geography. I would also like to self study 1 more ap, preferably a social studies class. Any suggestions? Im a junior and want to be a math major. Im taking Calc BC as a senior
if u study macro and micro kinda contradicting but like oh well
cause u have to study small and big at the same time
but i mean both are 1 semester so ig it works out
We do Macro in half a semester at my school
Lol
My school is very weird
Thats doable tho right? Idc if I have the urge to die I’ve been through worse
i mean sure if u wanna kill urself fs
Would it be smart to do an independent study for AP human geography? i’ve already done the class but my school doesn’t offer the AP. should i just take the ap and study for a little bit before hand?
W
thats what i was planning on doing
yea
how hard is the test? i got a 4.0 in the class so i think i have a good understanding
great thank you!
Is it fine to self study apes in freshman year[ps I’m taking honors bio(hardest class I can take)]
np!
Im doing that
So, what does Engineering class have? Is it like 3D printing and word works and etc stuff or its like the other class. (Please ping when responded)
We don’t know how school specific classes work
Ask your guidance counselor
Oh it's different in other schools?
I did not know lol
I want to do pre-med in university, would doing mathematics or biomathematics along with premed be a bad idea?
It’ll be more work but it’s doable
Do you want to major in biomathmatics?
If I can, it's not offered everywhere though, I enjoy computational biology, I don't know if it would translate well to medical professions though,
If I quit choir, what class should I take in it's place (I'm a freshman)
I already take APHG, honor bio, honors geometry and honors english
depends on what you want to majro in
if its a stem based major
take another stem class
that advances you
if its humanities related
do that if you want to
I have no idea what to major in though
i mean you dont really have to narrow down your majors in freshman year
stem classes are almost always beneficial so you should take them
It doesn’t need to translate well, just do the major you want to take
Ok, im a junior whos never taken an ap or honors course before. Could I do the stats, APES, and Macro exams with the class? Additionally, could I self study Microecon, World history, Psychology and Human geography? I wanna major in math but I’m also passionate about social studies. If this isn’t doable what could I change? Im taking Calc BC as a senior
med schools dont really care what u do in undergrad
most science related things will be good
self studying 4 when you havent done any ever is gonna be a lot
I know, its gonna be hard. Would you say it’s possible? I’ve started self studying macro a bit, because the class hasn’t started yet. Figured I’d get a head start
Possible as in being able to learn material in time? Theoretically. Doable as in maintaining sanity and getting a good score? That depends on you
Concept based classes like Econ and some of psych are a lot harder to self study
Fact based is usually easier cause it’s more just rote memorization
If I lose my shit thats fine,
I just wanna make sure I can learn all the information in time for the exam mainly
Theoretically but I can’t vouch for how well you’ll do
You have no experience with higher level courses and are taking some that are decently hard to self study
Good luck
I appreciate it
guys im currently in a honors bio class in freshman year(max my school allows) but i am able to self study ap bio
should i do it?
yes
Def
If u wanna yes
Should I take honors chemistry before AP Chemistry? Will the AP chemistry be hard if my only prior experience is biology honors?
Yes it will be hard, but it’s do able
You definitely want to have some type of background knowledge, which means you should do your own research
Ask the teacher what would be good background knowledge to have
How hard? Is it like no social life hard or hard as in it will take 1-2 hours of studying on your own?
Im in Honors Chem currently and it is brutal, but my school’s standard classes are the equivalent of an honors in our states public system, so i guess it really depends on the school
I couldn’t tell you that. It’s different for every class, every teacher, every person
Honors chem was not that hard for me
So I could’ve moved up to AP chem right away
i have almost no knowledge in chem and im taking that class rn
its ok if you actually read the textbook
i have like abt 3.5 hrs of hw per week i think
including reading the text
Should I take dual enrollment classes relating to my interest (electronics engineering) or ap classes that relate to my interest (engineering) and other ap classes that don't relate to my interest? (to get some of the humanities classes out of the way in college)
Dual enrollment is better if you are gonnna go to that same college @solar vault
That u dual enrolled in
dual enrollment is best for in state colleges
how does dual enrollment work between ur high school curriculum and college classes?
You take college level classes at your high school and they count for college credit
At available colleges
wait dual enrollment is at your high school?
Yes
no
Should I self study AP psych
Do AP chem
I'm in it rn and it's not that bad
Has anyone taken honors physics)
Could anyone give me like a brief overview I was gonna take it next year
sometimes you do, sometimes the professors go to your high school
it depends on the classes, variety, professors, geography, etc
Just take a 100 percent online class, which is just homework and watching videos. Or take an online class with zoom meetings whatever u prefer
how do you sign up for that?
the dual enrollment classes will specifically say if it is online or not. there is not really a choice
If you take dual enrollment and it counts as a math credit would you have another elective course or do it in school?
I want to major in physics but I'm scared that I might not get a job and I really don't want to do academic research. Should I just major in engineering physics?
I would recommend speaking bc with your counselor because when you apply for dual enrollment your high school will pay for the classes. If you want an online class simply look at the open sections for classes that you want to to take. And they variety from on campus to zoom and even just completely online.
Oh, the community college near me offers dual enrollment for free (CCSF), but it's only for juniors and above. It does say something about allowing 10th graders to have certain classes. What classes would you recommend to do for dual enrollment?
I would recommend doing required classes that are basically an easy A like for example CIS-100 which is computer information it’s just learning how to use Microsoft word, excel stuff like that. But your college might have different required classes, if you can’t find any I recommend doing any course that is introductory that you can do online easily
im not sure what you mean
Hey guys! Thoughts on ap work history? You think I should take it right now as a junior (taking ap lang and ap psych)
And another question is should I take ap bio junior year or senior year? Taking it rn and…. I did get low marks on a unit test but able to get retake and get 75%
i am dual enrolling in a community college
and hell no im not going to a community college
lol
You would get more credits if you did and if they have transfers to your desired uni
And it’s cheaper by a lot
What are the best AP/Dual-Credit classes to take as a sophomore and what classes I should take in the future
I am both trying to get into prestigious colleges and win valedictorian
I answered it a little up
thx
I'm a sophomore rn taking
- AP WH
- AP CSP
- AP Calc AB
- AICE Lang AS (British AP)
And last year I took
- AP HUG
- AICE General Paper AS
- AICE Thinking Skills AS
If you haven't already and you're interested
I recommend AP Human, AP CSP, and all of the AICE classes
(if you can take the AICE ones)
AP calc AB imo is kinda useless if you plan on taking BC and I don't know if you're that far in math yet
