but my dad got kinda disappointed when I responded “idk what I wanna be” so I’m kinda stressing
IKR? 🤣
I think I’m gonna do more research
UGH I HATE WHEN PEOPLE PRESSURE THEIR KIDS TO DO STUFF
dw bout it, join clubs and watch vlogs or stuff. try to do things and see if you enjoy them
Find out whats your priority in life. Making a lot of money or doing something you like
Nah, if you can imagine yourself doing it years down the line and do truly enjoy it, go for it. Plus, you don't have to have been planning to pursue law or any other type of career from the get-go, you've got plenty of time
making a lot of money = traveling which I wanna do
My goal is to get a job, where I get enough money to move me and my family to europe
oooh
Inetresting
be a pilot'
LOL
jkjk
or flight attendant
bye im terrified
or join the military ^^
alsonjkjk
IVE THIUGHT ABT THAT
LMAOO
Too much work
but getting phones out of a sweaty seat ..
And deal with KARENS
OH SH I FORGOT ABR THOSE
nah any retail job involves that already 😭
I’ve been so focused on school I forgot Karen’s existed 💀
original plan was to study abroad (UK or AUS) and then get a job here, then move me and my family to turkey where I can be a nurse there
interestinggg
And customer service
I rlly want to go to UK or aus and I think going to a uni there would be the easiest
or berlin, they have a free uni which I need to do more research abt
Working in customer service seems like a nightmare
But its for a limited time. For a flight attendent, you have spend a whole flight while serving them which is worst
nope
I have no idea I hope not
do u guys think being a school psychologist/counselor is a good idea
wait what’s a stipend
That's why
Nope, not tryna deal with jeffry dahmer \
I'm going to get a PHD
wait what
I didn’t watch the Netflix show I don’t know these things
Its like you get a certain amount of money to spend on whatever u want
ohhh
My Pleasure
why don’t they do that for every job
Honestly he should make a university and we all get free tuition
Different jobs have differnet benefits
true true
Free Tuition for Anyone Who’s in This Discord Server
Well
Stop being Delusional lmao
Imma go to some top school
it’s part of my nature sorry
And get a PHD
that’s a lot of work
Goharia 🤣
Goharia Law School? Goharia Graduation School?
sounds amazing lmao
free tuition, meal plans, and dorm rooms!!
books are millions of dollars each tho!
but it’s ok because we have those illegal websites or whatever
Jkjk
Anyways
APUSH
AP CSP
Roster for this year
Hopefully I can attend the Princeton
Hey, is double major in mechatronics eng and Cs cybersecurity worth the time and money?
Same
you should rethink that bc it was a tough exam ngl, i managed to get a 5 but not everyone in my school was that fortunate... i believe in you tho, you got this
Hated the class and the teacher was useless. Ended up with a 1
ohh its okay, as long as you try your best thats all that matters
Computer science isnt my thing is what i learned lol. Got on APHG on the flip side
yeah and i totally understand, i did chemistry as a freshman and i hated that course so much
Yep, it really either depends on the teacher or the topics. What classes r u taking this year if u dont mind me askin?
im doing computer science A, ap biology, multivariable calculus, spanish III, ap world history, world literature and science fair
Thank you
Yes
I think they’re good for going into engineering
Idk if colleges value them
They might be counted as rigorous though
Join interesting business clubs
Think of problems that you are facing or people around you are facing and try solving those
Ap CSP
Ap Comparative Gov
Ap physics 1
Give tips pls
W multi variable calc
I wish my school offered it
Are you a sophomore btw
Cuz that’s kinda crazy
CSP 5 ez
then what would you do after taking Calculus
yeah
I just take statistics then hl math
ohh i see
what is hl math
It is basically a lot of college math
Like calc, etc.
It only goes up to calc 2 but there are a lot of concepts
Hey I’m an incoming freshman and eager to go into architecture and aiming for Stanford what classes should I take
Hard ones
prob math right
maybe some engineering design class? idk how well it'd apply to buildings tho
Math, Physics, and AP stats maybe?
architecture? so kinda like civil engineering?
if so, take engineering classes
do architecture projects and research internships
and take like ap stats, its pretty useful in civil engineering
oh yea also physics
They work together but not the same
and calc ab bc
yea but kinda similar
mhm
They required AP Calc way before so its a no big deal. But does that mean you can't skip Pre-Calc and go straight to Calc?
I don’t think you can do that anymore. I have to take ap pre calc rn and theres really no way around it unless you take it over the summer, which doesn’t give you the ap credit
Hey guys, this year I'm self studying Hug, Psych, Comp gov, US gov, APES, and CSP. I'm a freshman, will any of these courses be too hard for me, being intended for higher grade levels? also, is self studying a high quantity of AP exams even worth it as a freshman, (will it look impressive to colleges)
Damn that sucks
Ap precalc is such a sped class
Like don’t take it
Just take ap calc
Cuz no college gives a shit abt precalc unless you are going into humanities
All the AP Physics
Ap chem
Try seeing if you can dual enroll in some engineering classes
If i may I ask does engineering require more of chem or Cs?
sup guys, incoming freshman here. it's a little too late to pick courses for grade 9 (i don't have any options anyways) but i was wondering what i should do for future grades. i'm aiming for bio/chem engineering at mcmaster or ut (maybe, just maybe, mit). what extracurriculars and courses would i need? and how much of a balance between things i want to take and things i need to take would i need? thanks
Im also planning to go into architecture and what have to say is:
Take engineering classes (they help understanding the engineering mindset and also makes sure the engineers are on your side when you make a concept)
Some arts (some colleges require you to send an art portfolio for architecture)
AP Art History, Physics and Stats (All useful for architecture and helps with credits in college)
Well it depends like if you are going into chem or bio engineering then you need chem more but besides that it’s a bit more cs
I see. Tysmm
does ap world, ap physics 1, 10th grade language arts (honors), precalc and spanish sound manageable for a sophomore with extracurriculars until 6 after school? or should i take regular physics
Dont take CSP. All you lern throughout the year could be covered in 2 hours. Take AP Physics 1 and you will be depresed for a while but ten years later I grantee you will not regret it.
This is what I plan to take in high school, I prolly need to ask more about some of the aps in sophomore year but this is around what I’ll take:
u are such a slay
Thank you so much 😊
My school been started for a month lol I already have all the classes
They’re easy so far
Nice job dude
I did integrate 2 over summer so I could skip it
Currently in algebra 2 but I’m doing pre calc and just looking over calc AB to prepare for Calc BC junior year (next year)
If you think you’ll like it more, then do it
Yeah but im afraid it’s not what i expected or its gonna be too hard
You’ll never know until you try it out
And usually you’re able to switch classes as long as it’s early on in the yrt
Year
literally the second day
I’ll cave in and send a request to switch
That’s great
But yeah ap lang is usually a junior cladd
Class*
are you fr?
it is now required to take ap pre calc before calc ab and bc for the top schools?
That’s not true
I’ve never heard that before
And it doesn’t make any sense
Unless we’re talking abt smth other than admissions
advice on whether i should take an online course for ap micro and an elective data science course amongst my junior year w hard classes
😍
actually??
Should I drop AP calc AB? It’s something I know I can take, it would just be a struggle. I want my senior year to be easier, but not too easy- I’m taking 3 other APs (lang psych geo), along with work and XC, and I don’t really want to feel burned out. However, my college that I want to apply to wants to see calculus instead of stats. Should I drop it altogether, move to honors calc, or perhaps something else? Is it really worth taking a math class my senior year, I’m already not taking a science? (I want to major in poly sci)
Let me elaborate, I want to have an easier senior year, but I don’t want to slack off completely
freshman here. this year, i am supposed to take geometry, but i would consider myself a more advanced student and already know geometry; should i switch to algebra II or even precalc my freshman year, and if so, how?
which state?
or school to be precise?
its mostly based off of the assistant principals opinion
🤨
wdym
cause how would the ap know anything about me
do they talk with my middle school teachers or something
well you have some academic weapons who got ap calc bc freshman year because they were able to convince the assistant principal that they have completed precalculus and have the ability to perform in that class
yeah i can see lmao
how would i go about switching out of my current class though
thats what im mostly curious about
that really depends on each school lots of them have a program office you can contact that can handle that part for you
have u only done algebra 1?
yes
And u want to move to algebra 2
but i finished it with 100 final 🥴
yea
Make an appointment with your counselor
should i just shoot them an email
No make an appointment in person
i barely even know that shes my counselor, i havent spoken to her yet
idk where her office is
alright
yw
Also a freshman, I took geometry and algebra 2 at the same time, the year after I took algebra 1. I would say don’t skip either class, because they are helpful but if you can, its not hard to take them at the same time. AP pre calc is a lot different from any math class that comes before it and its quite a large step.
Since pre calc is already a big change, I wouldn’t try to jump from algebra 1 to that
Nah bro only math course you should skip is algebra II cuz geometry and precalc are good for calc
Idk why ap precalc exist tbh
I’m such a big hater of it
is it manageable to take ap physics and ap world along with my other core classes as a sophmore?
physics c?
or electricity and magnetism?
Yeah I’m just taking it for gpa credit
The course itself not great
Like the exam doesn’t even contain anything about parametric and polar equations
lmfao what
Yes
physics 1
anyone know about kyoto IUP ?
First day of school here in Carroll County
I am a 23 grad .But now i am confused on which career is better to take should i go with C.S general or C.E pathway in networking or pathway in info security (these are majors that my college offer). The rise of AI is making me not so sure about if C.S will still be good in the future , but also in the C.E programs i woul not have that much job oppurtunities or felixebility because i am ristricted in one pathway. I would really appreciat the help
I'm a Junior (Grade 11) from Canada with my current courses this year being:
American History
World History
Biology
Chemistry
Functions (Math)
French
English
Politics (In French)
I want to be a History Teacher at a University with another degree in pharmacy. Recently I've developed an interest in law and economics as well and am wondering if I should drop my sciences for those in Grade 12 and maybe take a summer course for at least one of my sciences to fit room in for one of those classes. I don't know what I want to do with my next year and need some thoughts. Would Economics, Law, or even Geography be better for my History or should I keep my Sciences. Thanks.
How are u taking American History?
can someone tell me how much hrs of hw imma be getting w this schedule
ap physics 1, algebra 2 H, English 9 H, spanish 2, pe, intro to social science research. intro to comp programming (no hw for this class rlly), pre ap world history, AP human geo,
maybe like 3 hours easy, depends on how much you study for ap human, not that hard, ap world might have a little bit more, youll have a couple enlish essays, but mostly time in class to work, ap physics really depends on teacher, and alg 2 is like a good half hour to an hour depending how much you get done during the day
i’d say focus on that ap physics
we’ll focus on all classes but that will probably beed to be taken more seriously
Yup a lot of your work will probably go into Algebra 2, AP Physics and APHUG
those classes have the most workload
if you think that's annoying wait until you get to APWH or APUSH
aphug notes were easy af
compared to apwh notes
u got questions in aphug
atleast I did for every notes we had to do
i’m in apwh but notes are optional and there not a grade
out notes were different thought
they were grades
and it was geographcical memorization kinda
not completion
it was interesting tho
and we had an open notes test with the notes on top of normal unit tests
it was weird
you mean like pre-ap or like actually AP
ap
actual AP is a college-level course
pre-ap is like the advanced version of the course
Yea
it seems interesting and engaging
my teacher is kinda chill and im doing well in the class so far
Anyone?
I live close to the U.S. Some people where I live go to the U.S. for studies so they offer it.
it really depends on if its just an interest or if its something you really want to pursue, if you want to pursue it then you might want to change based on what you feel will help you more with achieving that goal, i dont have an interest in either of those so i cant really give much useful advice
Can anybody give me any tips for ap human geography this year?
like study materials online and stuff like that
also do you have to know all the countries on the map for ap human geography
Check out our Podcast!!
For anybody who has taken AP Seminar/Research-
-What did you do?
-What did you learn?
-Did you enjoy it?
-How much dedication?
-Any big pros/cons?
-Would you recommend taking it if it meant sacrificing sleep (0 hr)?
AMSCO is basically what most teachers use
and i think thats agreeable
its better than most textbooks
but its annoying to have to read it
so read it when you need help basically
You dont need to know every country
only important ones that youll most likely have to discuss
Teach will prob throw some map quizzes at you
Its not a hard class but if you dont have a deeper knowledge on geographic and demographic concepts as well as societal planning it can be intimidating at first
guys do yall think i should take ap human geography my sister said it was hard and i shouldnt but i need opinions
Any AP Seminar/Research takers?
My experience with seminar was just a lot of work especially with the annotated bibs in like a 2 day span due date
Especially second semester
Cant really say much about research cause Im taking it right now
I will say this, it isn’t a hard class, you just got to do the work despite it being a lot
Don’t procrastinate, if anything, start on it the moment its assigned because if you just push it all the way near the due date, you will feel overwhelmed having to read 6+ 30 page articles
Is there any way I can go back to sophmore year from junior year
After completing or not completing junior yr
It's been 3 weeks since I've been a junior
And I'm 1 yr ahead anyways
I feel like I went too fast and where I could have been an Austin student I'm a a&m student
Just cause I deleted 1yr of my high school
Guys
My school is offering AP Precalc next year
Should i take it? (I believe it may be a prereq to Calc AB)
Uh anyone?
Anyone willing to help a good friend?
Hi, I am a freshman in high school. I am taking TV production and because I got switched in late, I got a bad group. This group may cause me to get a bad grade on a project, and I can’t get out of it. On one hand, tv production is kind of fun, but stressful due to my group. Personal finance is boring, but it’s easy. Should I switch classes, or take the possible bad grade and figure it out?
If you plan on taking calc then take ap precal
So I’m in year 9 now so I’m picking my gcse plan and I have pick pe health and well-being because it moves into pe and then o have also picked buisniss
Would you actually recommend the class, though?
if you feel like youre gonna get a bad grade overall in final report cards drop it or if you think you can get a suffice grade even with ur "bad" group then go for it
Can anybody guide me on whether I should take AP Comp Gov or AP US Gov and politics .
Both are 1 sem courses in my school and I wanna go in the one which is comparatively easier and less workload.
I was thinking of taking AP psychology but turns out that it's not as easy as it seems.
if youre just tryna get college credit
no..
but
if you want to take research then sure
(a lot of colleges dont have counterpart to seminar)
Do high schools (usually) allow students to double up classes, for example taking U.S. History and World History in the same year, in multiple subjects?
how many ap classes should i take
in order to get into top colleges/ivy leagues
like NYU, Columbia, Cornell, Harvard, and etc
You want a rigorous course load, but AP classes don't guarantee admission. Also, why do you want to go to top colleges?
I see top colleges as my personal perferance
But most of the time
I rather go for match/safety schools
they seem to meet my personal desires
such as degrees in related careers
To me it's superficial, a college degree is something to be proud of no matter the name at the top.
Indeed it is
Top colleges don't matter as much as one would think if you aren't going into a career like investment banking or want to work at the most prestigious hospitals in the country
Yea I agree with that statement
Its just that
I been more focused on reach schools
than safety and match
yea I researched safety and match schools as my back up plan
but I am just madly worried if I will be considered as a failure to others
Depends on your school, ask your counselor
As many as you’re able to handle
There’s no magic number
I don't know if I wanna do cs or medicine I'm confused as I'm good at both
Dual Major
😂
AP Seminar/Research takers: do you recommend taking both for the sole purpose of learning skills/knowledge?
how do i know which classes i can take in summer?
hii am i able to do ap human geo without doing ap world
AP HUG ez
rly what is it abt
i think there should be ap calculus CD
yes
you talk like a freshman
stop
please
is it recommended to fastrack organic chemistry for a junior while having physics and bio in the same semester? would it be difficult to deal with the workload
you absolutely can its a cake walk of a class if you just follow the leader
Nah I actually think it should go to AP Calculus EF
We dont have AP World yet most people took AP HUG
And yeah just know your vocab and you should be fine
Acksually i think that there should be AP Calculus YZ 🤓🤓🤓
Actually there should be an AP Calculus Zþ
my favorite lost english letter
Mine too
AP Seminar/Research takers: do you recommend taking both for the sole purpose of learning skills/knowledge? Why/why not?
Also, pros/cons of class?
Hi. I’m a junior and I’d like major in Cs. These are the aps I’m taking this year. I’m worried I’m not doing enough. Here is what I’m taking;
Ap Calc BC
AP CSA
Honors Physics ( school doesn’t offer ap physics 1 but honors physics is the equivalent and I will be taking the ap exam)
Honors Spanish 4
I speedran Spanish in middle school and I passed the B1 test, should I switch to German this year as my first year of high school considering the fact that I'm not learning anything in Spanish class
I think there should be AP calculus غ غش
Another great course for CS is
Statistics
Like on g idc about ur major AP Stat is so usefup
Those are good enough
Just make sure to keep your grades up consistently throughout the year and get that 4 or 5 in may
Side note - don't forget your ecs, don't have to do too many just make sure to make them impactful
Hey guys should I take geometry H and algebra 2 H together next year?
Do what u think it's best for u 😁
I think geometry is a pre-req for algebra 2
I mean technically they are but a lot of ppl take them at the same time
It’s not like algebra II and precalc
My school doesnt allow that i think
That’s tough
lemme check
Usually you gotta ask a counselor
wait wtf
it does allow it?
HUH?
damn
im in 8th grade so like i dunno...
ill just take algebra 2 in the summer tbh
But it's for credit retrieval so it's going to be so crammed
oh...
AP Seminar/Research takers: do you recommend taking both for the sole purpose of learning skills/knowledge? Why/why not?
Also, pros/cons of class?
Is it wise to skip physics 1 and physics 2 and go straight to physics C (Yes my hs offers that 💀). I already know a decent amount of physics and planning to take it in 11th and 12th grade. If I study and learn a lot of content till 11th grade, would it be wise.
good schools for an education major(language arts) ? the country doesnt matter-- im willing to travel to the US but id have to research more the conditions. Ive heard in the US the government pays your studies if you teach in an urban place for 5 yrs. Truth? Does it only apply to locals?
Helllo people I’m in my freshman year and I’m currently on the honors track.
Sophomore is the first year you can pick which AP classes you want to take, which ones should I choose?
I want to be a biology major and I love all science classes.
AP Stat
Which ones can you take? And do you meet the pre-reqs for them
Let me find the sheet with all of them.
take ap chem ap bio anatomy honors if it’s offered and i would say ap calc or ap stats
don’t rush it all though you’ve got plenty of time to change your mind
i don’t wanna do what i did 3 years ago at all
For someone who wants to pursue being a pilot, is it important for them to take physics C. I'm planning for my friend and I feel like physics 1 and 2 is fine for him, otherwise it would put him in pressure
Yeah ik
Anyways another quesstion 💀
If I wanna get into ivy league, is it worth taking Art 2-4
Or should I take something else
Art 3 and 4 are AP btw
Take classes u want 2 take
Take courses pertaining to ur major
You’ll do better of u like them
Take courses relating to ur career
ik but I wanna take art too 😭
I wanna be a software dev but...
But I also am planning on taking AP Spanish Lang
Art bc u like it
Ap spanish for me starts on spanish 5
yes
kk
Also I just realized my school offers spanish 6 with no pre-req. Should I replace spanish 4 honors with spanish 6 GT
I don't want to take more than 4 years of language so I'm not gonna take spanish 5 AP
spanish 4 is a pre-req for that
Again do what u want
I mean now I don't really know whats better ;-;
spanish 4 honors or spanish 6 GT
something about spanish 6 with no pre-req is just off....
I want the better option
But don't know which one
Help I was going to major in aerospace but now I’m having second thoughts
does droping out of class affect in anyway?
These are the dual enrollment classes offered at my high school, any suggestions on what I should take for a chance to get into an elite college? (I wanna major computer science)
Just pick what u want to take
Thats really not helping 😐
U don’t know what u want to take?
If I could I would take all of them
Then idk
Which ones give more benefit for college applications
I think if it’s not related to ur major u should be fine.
Oh ok thank you!!
Ahh got it thank you!!
Also I heard of this program called igetc. How does it impact your college app?
The ones you want to take
is ap lit , ap calc ab , ap physics 1 and ap comp sci a manageable to self study for my first year of ap classes?
I want to major in cs and I want dropout ap gov
does anyone know how important/useful the cambridge ICE award is?
cause i don't know whether to take it or not
take it or not? if it’s an award there’s no reason not to take it even if it doesn’t make a big impact
could smone help me wiht this?
Oh I mean ap gov isn’t related to cs in any way. But I’m not a college counselor and I don’t want to give you the wrong advice. So id say just talk to ur counselor cuz they speak to colleges and all. They have a pretty good idea of what colleges are looking for.
Are you self studying all of them ? Why?
cuz my school doesnt offer aps
Ah i see
but i have like 2 years
im taking these course next year
this year is just for prerequisites
So you can take these classes next year
Just take them next year
And focus on your extracurricular
extracurricular in pretty bad shape
So you should focus on extracurriculars and you can keep building them up next two years
its art and sports (its badminton and i barely get a chance to play it because of the scarcity of coaches and courts here)
no club system in my school
im not american
yeah it ok
no but if i pitch tht idea maybe...??
ok that’s a good idea
but like everybody in our class has no personality at all
no hobbies except for sports and things
well if you can start a club and become successful it would make a big impact on your school
That’s good for college apps
You could also start a passion project
but like we only have 1 period for club activity if we are assuming and even that is like PT , who wants to miss PT
whats that?
||should we move this to #extracurriculars ||
Sure
AP Seminar/Research takers: do you recommend taking both for the sole purpose of learning skills/knowledge? Why/why not?
Also, pros/cons of class?
Hey, what APs should aspiring business majors take starting junior year?
I want to go to University of Waterloo, for computer science. What do I need to do?
Well if you’re gonna take AP seminar, you should take AP research too. They go together. Tho I couldn’t tell you about the actual classes themselves
I got my sophomore schedule planned out now!! give me advice!!!
Adv. Geometry taken over summer virtually
HPE II taken in the fall virtually
Adv. English 10
Adv. Algebra II
Adv. Chemistry
AP World History
AP Computer Science A
Spanish III
Cyber Systems Tech (Through school's IT Program)
Sbdy cooked here
looks like a great schedule! (:. If you're going into stem (or CS), these is an even better one as well
I don't know, but I'm a soph who's taking Adv Eng 10 and AP Psych, so maybe it will go well for you?
Just b careful with the APs
im planning on self-studying AP World History beforehand
Tho yours aren't bad unless you're doing daily Guided Readings
as well as maybe AP computer science A if they have that on Khan Academy
That's really good, it's what I did for AP PSYCH so I don't have to understand learn a lot during the sch yr
They don't have csa, but csp is offered on it
Yeah, just abt any early exposure will help for an AP class
and who knows, maybe I could take that exam too for an extra credit!
we'll see where i end up through KA by the end of the year
khan academy
!!
currently self studing ancient world history, biology I, and Algebra I through there since my teachers kinda suck ass this year..
Oh, yeah
🤣 but seriously Khan Academy did help me reinforce and expound in what I was learning in class, I got 108 in Adv Bio freshman year
Thats fine but does it affect my college app ?
should I do, if possible, a psychology type class, animal type class and a computer type class all in 1 year when i become a senior in high school? or just the animal and psychology type class as i've already taken 2 different computer classes?
If I got recommended for AP chem and AP bio for sophomore year should I take both of those classes in the same year?
as in is a psychology class and animal type class good as my dream careers is animal caretaking, counseling, software developer/computer science?
Is the AP capstone diploma worth it in comparison to other AP classes
Nah it's bit of a scam
What do you do in Capstone, exactly, anyway? Do you actually use anything you learned?
Should I take AP Sem 10th grade? My school progression would be Honors English 1 - AP Sem - AP Lang - AP Lit
Depends on your school and also on your science background, but its definitely possible.
I would strongly encourage you to take at least one of these your sophomore year, and whichever one you don't take (if you dont take both sophomore), you can just do it junior year.
There might be some complications due to double lab days so just make sure the rest of your schedule is set before accomadating for this.
does anybody know what major you have to study if you want to be in cybersecurity or data analyst?
I’d think a degree in cybersecurity lol
Probably also computer science
Both would work
I’m not too sure about data analyst though
You could definitely look this up
the problem is
not a lot of school have cybersecurity majors
I cant afford to move out so I can only go to the nearest schools
none of them have cybersecurity
and I really do not like coding
I can code but I dont want to make it my whole life
Well then you could maybe do a degree in computer science for your bachelors and then do a masters on cyber security?
I honestly dont really like the stress CS brings
Are you 100% sure there are no cyber security courses in the colleges near you?
There are probably cyber security courses, but not a major
It's usually a major in the masters level I think
That’s probably true, but they’re talking about undergrad
Right right
yes
If you are so keen on cyber security then maybe you should look at courses outside your area?
usually those schools are like 4 hours
Why aren't you considering those schools?
Because unless the school is like one of the top schools, I can’t afford to move there because my parents aren’t helping me with anything
You know how expensive the intuition can be
And the rent and stuff
should i pick psychology or business studies for atar?
Have you tried looking at scholarships?
What's atar?
As far as I know, majority of the really expensive schools are private schools. Maybe try going to a school within your state because the fees for going out of state to a different school increase
Should I see if my high school has a animal type class and a psychology type class and then do em for my senior year?
(My dream careers are counselor or animal care taker or software dev which I’ve already taken one computer science class during sophomore year and now I’m taking cybersecurity in my junior year)
If you are interested in taking like a science type class in college I would say go for it.
Ok
i am going to highschool next year
throughout your entire high school career, if you get all a’s but one b, would your uw gpa be a 4.0?
No
But close to 4.0
Maybe 3.95
im taking an english class where it is literally impossible to get an a, if i purposefully fail the class i can drop down and move to the on level class
but then my schedule might change
and the grades carey over
For data analyst you can do a major in statistics and it should workout
Later on you can do a master's in Cyber security
If you major in cs then both data analyst and cyber security will be open for you
Fyi cs is a lot more than just coding, you can check out some free college level cs courses to get a better idea (ex- Harvard cs50)
I don't have any good schools near me for cs so I am planning to apply for cis, which is a bit less harder and versatile, but it's still going to give me quite some flexibility
While that is true. CS still needs coding, that course is nothing but coding and me personally cant stand the stress and frustration of debugging
Also do I need to minor in sth? Because I feel like cs only isnt enough for data analyst since u need knowledge about stats
Dorsnt matter, try doing extra credit classes. Most colleges look at your weighted gpa
Best free cs courses for beginners in code?
(i know languages only)
For entry level data analyst cs is enough but later on in the career it would be highly recommended to have a masters in stats or some other relevant math degree.
What are good jobs to have in high school if you wanna be a premed
Is there anything fun
No
Jobs are not fun
You will wish you never even thought of it
But then u see the pay check then enter a endless cycle of "I love it" "I hate it"
Damn that’s tough
It's only fun if u got friends at the job
Like this winter me and a few friends are gonna work at a Santa work shop type of thing
Ok
I live in Texas
in order to skip a course, you have to take it the year and taken the STAAR test to receive credits
in my case that’s Algebra 1
which i was supposed to take my 8th grade year but i switched schools so it wasn’t possible
so now i’m in 9th grade in a new high school and i’m thinking i could take both Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 at the same time
Would this be wise?
So then by senior year, I’ll be able to take Ap Calculus Bc
you would need al 1 first before al 2
its worth a shot if ur a fast learner
but i'd recommend al 1 normal yr
then summer do geo
then al2 then summer precalc
then by the time ur a junior u can do calc
then senior year do stat or skip math if u prefer
My school doesn’t offer summer classes
So my best shot is taking two classes my 10th grade year
do they accept summer classes from outside?
HIGHLY DOUBT IT
They hate other schools
they hate anything that’s not them
oh well in that case i would try that
but al 1 and al 2 might be a lot
esp w content
u might want to take al 1 and geo together if thats an option then take al 2 with precalc next yr if thats an option
then calc senior yr
nah i already know mostly everything in both subjects
not trying to have a big ego or anything
i just have a big nerd if a cousin🫣
i’ll ask to see if that’s possible!
ty ty bru
Should I take AP statistics if I want to be a surgeon? I asked my sister about it, and she said to take AP Pre-calc.
Is 1 Ap for a Freshman Good for a top 20-50 Uni? Or should I try to self study something like APES?
Take both
You need Calc
If you haven't taken AP Calc, AP Pre-Calc is a great course to get started with Calc
AP Pre-Calc -> AP Calc AB -> AP Calc BC
That's fine
The only AP I took freshmen year was AP US Gov
I took AP human and it was great
Since my school only rlly had AP US Gov and CSP for Freshmen
I'm taking two this year, last year it was only csp or AP human
Taking APUSH and CSP this year
This year I'm just trying to knock out grad requirements
No don't take ab and Bc, waste of time, take bc and then stats
Apush and seminar for me
Depends on ur school
Nah cuz bc you learn all the same stuff but more
At my school that's how AP Calc works
Not for us
We just started AP pre calc this hear
Cool
But I'm taking it next year hopefully cuz I love me some AP credit
Well
Unfortubately, I can't take both.
Yeah
BC
If it were up to me
I'd just take BC
But in my county AB has to be a prereq
BC is just AB but slightly sped up
Yeah it’s sad
My school doesn’t even offer bc
Imma take AP Pre-Calc and AP Calc AB next year
So I’ll take it online next year
And take AP Calc BC and Stat senior year
Our AP Calc AB and BC teacher is "smart" crazy
I think they're teaching Pre-Calc next year
Also take AP Stat
I also need to take AP Physics C
Per my major in Astrophysics
But thank god that Calc is a req. And can be taken concurrently with AP Calc AB
(AP Physics 1 is just reccomended)
Bruh I wish my school had physics c
Could you theoretically skip physics 1 and 2 to c
If i do two math classes this year, algebra 1&2
and 2 next year, geomotry&pre calc
what would i do my junior year?
Oh wait
Ap calc bc
But Senior year?
that is too much math classes to handle
i would suggest you even it out alittle bit
I like the challenge tho
Is it a good Ap?
I’ve heard some stuff abt it
most useful ap class there is
Oh okay
Oh that’s helpful then
what are you majoring in?
When I get to college, History, Computer science, Mathematics or Psychology
Idk i’m passionate about all so i can’t really narrow it down yet
i’m still only a freshman
😓
😝
mans hasnt even taken the classes and is preaching bull about them
blud's head is def in the stars
not theoretically, you can, physics C is just 1 but you apply some calculus topics to it
no you'd do ab junior then bc senior
Why would you do that, algebra II wouldn’t make any sense if you don’t know algebra I
not exactly, you can rearrange them however but the only two in that list I would say you dont wanna take at the same time are algebra 2 and precal
^^
Unless you want to major in math it is kinda useless
my school offers algebra 1, then geometry, algebra 2, and then precal in that order ignoring calc classes and above
Just take algebra i and geometry at the same time so you can take calc or stats
not really, any engineering course will require calculus
and ironically many medical courses
actually if you want a degree in anything in stem, you need calculus :/
Is it usually calc 1 or 2
Cuz different premed paths at different things which is weir
depends what you wanna do
but most will only require calc 1
a lot of schools are adding physics courses as a requirement too though to medical courses
cos ironically the people who do best on the mcat are engineers, physicists, and computer scientists and not the people who spent all their time memorizing biology for the premed reqs
Yeah most bio major and health science major wait till the last minute to prep for the meat which is kinda dumb
They think their major is more important than meat and ecs
I already understand both subjects very well, i just need to advance so i can take ap calc and stats
by the way I never got to correcting this and it's pretty damn important
BC is not AB sped up!! and if you enter the class thinking that you're in for a world of hurt
oh?
ftr, if you wanna know, this is coming from someone who took both AB and BC and is now taking calculus 3
through dual enrollment
not some bozo who hasnt even taken precal
BC is AB sped up is a severe understatement imo lmao
We are like, moving at light years through the AB content
ok lemme explain it like this:
sorry I proceeded to not explain shit
Caluclus AB will reintroduce the idea of limits from precal, and then uses that and basic algebra to introduce the idea of the derivative. Then once you learn everything to do with the derivative which uses concepts from precal, geometry, and algebra 2, you move on to integrals which are the opposite of a derivative and literally called an antiderivative
derivative will very lightly use parts of geometry, precal, and algebra 2
but the integral uses those very heavily
they will teach you things like integrating trig functions, and similar concepts
then calculus BC is builds upon those three concepts
in calculus BC you literally learn multiple different ways of integrating, and then sequences and series.
why are we learning math 2 in preacal
shitty teacher ig, or you're misunderstanding what they're teaching
dm me what they're teaching
will I get overloaded if I take 5 aps in one year?
alittle bit lmao
That’s highly dependent on you and your schedule
depends what it is
alr thx guys
I’d recommend asking ppl at your school who have taken the classes that you are going to take
And you can talk to teachers about hw load
you start with learning the new integration methods like integration by parts, integration by partial fraction decomposition, etc. and then you apply them to parametics, polars, etc. which is ironically, literally physics C, and then you learn sequences and Series which is literally a whole new thing both completely unrelated to what you learned and closely tied with integrals, and will make you want to leave the class
if it's all you're doing? no
if you're juggling dual enrollment and extracurriculars, most likely it will be too much
this is important too
That’s what I mean by schedule
Maybe I should’ve made that more clear tho
nah its alr
Which AP courses do you recommend to take?
what year are you?
2028
WOAH if ur just starting 8ththis year plzz chill
Dont worry abt all those
Idk how ur school works but u won’t be taking aps until 9-10 usually
^^
most schools to my knowledge only let you take 1 ap in 9th grade to get you used to the rigor of aps, and depending on how you perform, will then let you decide about aps in 10th-12th
Thank you for the information.
yeah and dont fill up ur schedule with bs AP's
if you do well in a couple of hard AP's
that is way more impactful
Will colleges care about the electives i take in high school?
Wdym
Typically electives can go to show what you’re interested in
generally you just write abt em on ur essay so
Anyone know if I should take the ap Calc ab and bc exam or just the bc exam
I'm currently taking AB
And planning to take BC next year
Should I take both exams or just wait next year
They're pretty much the same in my humble opinion
I would take ap human in ninth and focus on that
don't try to take to many ap in ninth, save that for 10,11, and 12
i’m on track to finish lin alg, diff eq, and multivariable calc by the start my second semester of senior year. i like math but idk if i can handle all these courses 😭 rn i have a 95 in calc 1 as a sophomore. should i just rest after calc 3 (first semester junior year) or is the added course rigor worth it? i’m planning to major in some type of biological science anyway.
because what i’m really worried about is those classes being detrimental to my UW GPA
any upcoming tips for freshmen for classes
i wuld recommend ap csp, its a rlly ez ap but very useful in any other course u wanna take
try to take both, if they allow
if not, just self study for one
What are your classes?
take a variety of classes/electives to see what you like. Don't bombard yourself with APs, especially in the first two years. Make sure your schedule is something you know you can do and manage well along with other stuff like your extracurriculars, social life, etc.
If you'd like us to rate your schedule, feel free to put it down here
ok i still have time for the summer to choose my high school schedule
what classes should i be taking in grade 11 and 12. If I want to go to law school.
You don't go to law school right out of highschool. Therefore, nothing you do in high school matters if you want to be a lawyer.
Law schools mainly look at your undergrad GPA and LSAT score. But if you're interested and want some exposure, most STEM related courses coupled with economics, stats, etc. should help.
Honors English 1
Honors World History 1
Honors Geometry
Mandarin 2
Honors Physics
Business
Study of Visual Arts (a requirement for our school)
Not eligible to take any of the APs available for ninth graders
Does anyone know if it's best to streamline your classes to fit a major you want to do? Or is it better to look more well-rounded and take a variety of classes?
Take classes that sound interesting to you. It's always nice to look into taking classes earlier before getting into college but if it is a class that not only sounds interesting to you but also fits the major you want to do then go for it!
Thanks!
How easy is to self study ap stats and get a 5
Not as hard as some other tests
But won't be a walk in the park either
alr what could I do to self study?
There's lots of resources online
You should do some research on what self studying entails before just deciding to self study
i have some friends who took ap stats by themselves and barely made a 3
Hey, I would like to ask, what are programs such as IGCSE, A-Level and IAL about? I genuinely have no idea
I'm currently in Secondary 4 and I don't know if I need to select a course
I'm in calc bc as a junior and I want to take calc 3 over the summer. Is there anywhere I could take calc 3 over the summer online and have it on my transcript?
I’m looking to go into the computer science / web design field in the future, im currently a freshman in high school which ap classes should I take
AP CSA and AP CSP are great options
Anybody here goes to California polytechnic ponoma?
is self studying pre-calc worth it? especially for someone not stem oriented
for my softmore year I am planning to take ap csp, ap bio, ap human online, us history, spanish 3, honor 10th comp, geometry, essentials to healthcare
are these good courses to take
You’re most likely not going to find someone who does, just ask your question and maybe someone can help out
I had a question, my school offers dual enrollment and I’m not sure if I should take it, I know it gives college credits but it’s taken from my community college so I doubt that most colleges would even accept these creds, I’m already taking chem H and APUSH which are college level courses in school so I don’t really see the point in dual enrollment unless it looks better on your transcript (which I don’t know if it does).
Also my grades are generally in the A area so would taking dual enrollment look better on my transcript cuz that’s like the deciding factor
I’m currently in 6 AP classes and have the feeling I need to drop one or two for workload. The two classes I’m contemplating are Latin and Biology. Latin would be an easy A but I would fail the exam. Biology is easily my biggest workload but I also don’t have an AP science yet. I want to be a business major in college so I also don’t see a need for either of these classes. Should I drop biology?
I'm taking dual enrollment but only because I'm unable to take APs as a sophomore. I'm using it as a way to show I'm capable of taking challenging classes. If your already in a lot of Aps or honors I'd use the hour to do a fun class (band, art, etc)
If your convinced you'll fail the Latin exam id probably drop that
I’m only doing one but have 4 other honors classes
My counselor didn’t give me the other honor and ap cuz no space
What grade?
Sophomore
Do it if you have no other classes you really want to take
Colleges still like to see it on a transcript despite not taking the credits
I have orchestra and dual enrollment is outside of school for me
Ok
Don't overwork yourself too
I think I’ll just stick to school classes and do volunteering ours and summer programs
Hours
Sounds good 👍
Thanks for the help
Np
any americans taking/taken rotc? wdyd in it/anything actually learned from the class/is it actually useful/fun
only Take it if u wanna take it
if u take dual enrollment ofc it will
no matter what class ur taking
it gives colleges the impression u took a risk and u can handle courseloads
Any idea of what dual enrollment classes should I do for my betterment in the future?
next year's math could be one
any others?
Hi, currently a freshman and I was wondering if self-studying AP Human Geography and/or AP Psychology is easy or not
QUESTIONN so in trigonometry honors rn (its required if you want to take pre calc) and im failing with a 63 from my first quiz so i am questioning if i should steer away from the calculus path and maybe instead of taking pre calc and trig this school year and ap calc bc senior year to take ap stats this year and ap csp senior year of that makes sense idk which one is better because on one hand with taking the calculus route ill be smarter and more prepared for the sat and college but on the other hand if i take the alternative route my gpa would boost dramatically and ill be learning things ill use in my daily life
i have 3 questions. 1 how hard is it to self study a persoanl finance class over the summer. 2 How hard is it to self study ap macro or ap microeconomics. 3 How hard is it to self study ap stats or ap physcology?
Okay, first of all, its your first quiz, don’t worry about it, you’ll have a lot of opportunities to raise your grade up with other tests and quizzes. Honestly, whatever path you want to take is your choice, honestly, Calc doesn’t really help you out with the SAT, for me it made me overthink it more lol. I’ve heard from a lot of people that it’s really useful to take stats for college cause it helps with research based things and collecting data if you’re going that route. But if the grade really matters to you, you can choose the alternative route, but just letting you know, AP stats is notoriously difficult, so I don’t know how you feel about that
tysm!
I'm at beginning of freshman year right now. Here is what I plan to do sophomore year. Tell me if it's too easy
Ap chem
Ap clac BC
Apush
Honors English 2
Choir
DE physics 1 and 2
PE
How do you take a test if you self study a ap course?
It all depends on your time management, study abilities, and what you do for extracurriculars. You're lucky your school offers that much to Sophomores. If it seems to stress you out cut a class and go easier, if you're bored go harder. Don't do everything to "look good for colleges" because it can backfire.
Talk to your school
Ok
Looking to go to college what courses should I be taken in grade 11 and 12 or does it not matter
Ok
Depends on what college but try to push yourself to take the hardest classes possible or that your comfortable with
its pretty easy
does your school offer multivariable
i self tested bc and skipped to multi variable
as many AP as possible
all honors (at a minimum)
remember AP tests r free, take them all
dude no way thats too easy
but make sure to take classes you WANT to take now's the time to explore
Do u know how the AP test works for students who do online school?
in my school its not D:
not sure
they cost money
but they r free in terms of being easy
study if u have to
but 5s r usually easy
umm does anyone know how to get dual enrollment in nyc
im not sure what to do
can u guys explain like how its beneficila?
pls
help
it depends if ur skool offers it
Yea, but I have to take calc bc
ohh
L
usually even if this stuff is mandated you can skip
the good thing abt dual enrollment is that u earn high skool & college credit at the same time
Yeah I don't want to annoy them they decide if I get the math scholarship at graduation
And also they don't let you skip any math classes no matter what hence why I have to take pre-calc over summer
chem is free
BC is super free
Apush is free
English is probably free
Physics 101 and 202 r free
English is free from what I've heard from upperclassmen
It's a local University
I'm also backing this up with probably being Color Guard Captain, in drama club, in biomedical engineering club, in philosophy Club probably leadership position, and in stem Club if it gets kicked back up
club positions dont rlly matter
unless you do smthng
like smthng real
It's good to have a few leadership positions from what I've heard
like I started a program that teachers CS to inner city kids
meh
it depends
where do you want to go to college?
Oh I'm also going to be doing community service tutoring for low income math kids
thats ok
Princeton, I live in New Jersey also
Who are you talking to
?
hello, I live in the US and am taking the IB Diploma Program. My school just took in IB as its new curriculum and is slowly switching from AP to IB. Unfortunately, since it is this new, most of the teachers don't know what they're doing. My school is also only offering 6 classes. Not over 20. I don't get to pick any of my classes and I am stuck with what I am given.
I am forced to take and am taking:
HL Global Politics
HL Theatre ( 💀 )
HL English Language and Literature 1
SL Math AI
SL Spanish AB Intio 1
SL Environmental Systems and Societies (ESS)
I wanna pursue a career in Aviation, and be a pilot one day. Yet I have no knowledge of basic chemistry and barely any physics.
Should I self-teach myself AP/IB Physics and Chemistry? And if so, which curriculum should I follow? AP or IB? I really want to take these classes to just be a solid rounded student as I have never taken a single chemistry course. If I finish my senior year without a small peck of knowledge on chemistry, I don't know if that really will be a good idea.
I love you theater
Oh yeah I forgot to mention next year I'll be taking Spanish 2@oblique barn
ughh
thats tough man
u have a great application otherwise though
I plan to take 4 years of Spanich
I'm on the Princeton Bus as well
Hype
thank you but what about my questions 💀
I wanna go into Astrophysics
what is ur gpa and sat
No
u should not
Typo I meant to say I love theater
psat?
thats ok
Atucorret added the you
Taking PSAT this october
don't go to college
just do flight school
I wanna get like a 4.5+ GPA when I graduate
Should I still self study physics and chem?
depends
r u intrested in them?
if so
yes
otherwise
no
I did 4.6 freshman, going for a 4.8 now
And got like an 1190
Yeah
But that was a couple of months ago
study
