Hi so I am planning to major in Bio, but currently I am signed up for a Mock Trial Class in addition to other Bio related classes on my schedule (AP Bio, Human Body Systems), and I was in the Mock Trial class last year, and I really enjoyed it. However, it is difficult for me to make it to the Mock Trial Varsity team, which competes in the county and eventually goes to state. If it's difficult for me to get a position, should I still continue the class or should I drop it? I might not get a position but it could improve my logic skills. Or should I switch this class for another class like an AP?

My suggestion is that you can still continue it even if you might not make it. If let's say you don't make it...it doesn't mean you learned nothing. If it will improve your logic skills even if you might not get the spot, that logic skills will help you in the future if you major in Bio. i’d say whatever subjects you take, take the hardest version of that subject available to you - but don’t sacrifice your gpa. make sure you can still get As in everything you’re taking, and make sure you can still get 4s or higher on most of the exams you take (don’t self report 3s or below on common app). also, don’t sacrifice extracurriculars for another AP class either

(to a point - for instance, schedule wise, i make sure i can still fit in concert band no matter what, since im president, first chair, and head drum major of the marching band and it’s probably the extracurricular i do the most in. however, i did sacrifice jazz band for ap calc last year, and for ap physics this year, because im not as prominent in that group and i plan on majoring in physics in college. also, i worked it out with my band director so i could still be in the ensemble anyways, even if i wasn’t in the class)
