what are y’all’s EC’s
never said i was
oh ok
dw about it i have 4 years to figure that out
And I've done a ton of math ECs and other ECs in general over the years
did u take amc 10
or 12
Yeah
YOURE A FRESHMAN?
then why you saying your ECs are shit when your high school barely stared lol
started
yea
damnn
what did u get
I did some community college stuff but
breh
I’d recommend you use a textbook
aops?
Not enough to get into AIME
dang
No art of problem solving doesn’t usually cover calculus
what do u think ur chances are of making USAMO
aops calculus book?
87, cutoff was 94.5
what do u think ur chances are of making AIME now
Does AOPS have a calc textbook?
yes
Idk, maybe then
I think I'll get at some point in hs
I haven’t gone through AOPS’s Calc textbook
what about usamo
how long do u estimate it will take me to do one chapter in precalc
cuz i average 1 a day for the intro books
It's possible
Pre calc 6th, Calc AB 7th, calc BC 8th
Cya
some states are different and some schools systems you can do 2 math
like sophomore year, I did both calc ab and precalc
not as crazy as everyone else but yeah
dude how are people finishing calc in middle school
wtf
breh idk
Lol
they are now i feel worthless
Thats like one dude out of a hundred you’re not worthless
ok good to know
Calc in middle school is crazy
Fresh out of elementary after learning algebra 1 and 2
Its not the norm either
Welcome to life lol
ooga babooga
sigh
wth
do you guys think grades in senior year classes/ap courses matter?
im going to be a senior in a week and this time taking more than 1 ap class
for college credit, yeah
for your actual admission, not much
looks like im screwed
the first semester will be taken into account on your transcript - but AOs won't put a heavy emphasis on it
your junior year is 10x more important
can i show you my transcript in dms if you don't mind? (Looking for feedback)
yeah go ahead
I have a bit of a question
I’m a rising freshman and I’m looking at my courses and it looks fine, except I’m in regular orchestra. It’s not that I don’t enjoy orchestra, but I feel like I might be hurting my application as I’m not getting a honors credit that the advanced orchestras would get. I’m not particularly great at my instrument either, and I already have another that I prioritize more, but I still feel kind of obligated to continue with it for the next 4 years. I’m wondering what you guys think, especially as if I don’t take it I’d get the opportunity to take another CS class. I’m not really sure but I’m thinking I will do it as it’s something I genuinely enjoy, but Id like to know in advance if I’m ruining my college chances or something as that’s my top priority
You're never ruining your college chances by doing something you genuinely enjoy.
If you really enjoy orchestra and believe that you can grow at it within the next few years, definitely continue it. That committment and passion that you show is infinitely more valuable than the "honors credit" to colleges and AOs
But if you feel you don't really like it, and would rather pursue something else, drop it. You can take another class (like a CS one), like you mentioned
If you're not great with your instrument, I can imagine this is all the more opportunity for you to explain your story and how you were committed to becoming better at the musical arts. It can be frustrating when you can't get honors weight on a class, but in the end it will likely work out as is best for you.
⬆️
Are you taking any other music related classes? Music theory?
or any performing arts in general
no I’m not really aware of much after freshman year yet
how about this year
I play and take private lessons for piano outside of school which I’ve done more
nope
Well that's great too!
Yeah I’m much better at it but I still want to do both
You really don't have anything to worry about as it is, if that helps at all. It seems like you have a path you'd like to take and you have a general idea of what you want to pursue, regardless of the instrument. In the end, you're still passionate about music.
Yeah np, anytime!
I’m still on the fence about taking AP comp sci A, I’m a senior with a full schedule, and only one AP. I plan to major in engineering and idk if I want to add the course work of comp sci or if I’ll get bored and it’ll be boring?
i'm going into sophmore year and taking 1 ap class (ap human geo, idk if thats a typical class option) i could have taken ap psych but i had other stuff i wanted/needed to take (human growth, personal finance, weight training, spanish) so i plan on taking it junior year
was that a bad idea or nah
So I’m currently in 8th grade taking Algebra 2 does that mean I’ll be taking AP Calculus in freshman year?
no, you’d be taking pre calc
Anyone on this??
It really depends. Do you want to go into CS at some point in your college career? APCSA goes over a lot of programming fundamentals that’ll be useful in almost any CS course you take
skip precalc for ap calc
That’s easier said than done
calm down doctar
not that hard if u have time
mdidle school is ez
Sure…
Also, I noticed you were in the Rishab Server, so you do research or research competitions?
no
i told u in DMs doctor
do u not remember me
Sorry, there are like 147 people in my DMs currently
Dude how do you like pick a major bro
I'm stumped in between:
-Compsci
-Finance
-Accounting
-Business management
Hi does anyone do business studies here that can help me with a question
Also check #careers
Is my Junior year schedule rigorous enough: AP Language, AP World, AP Environmental Science, AP Government and Politics, Honors Latin, Honors Sociology, Standard Pre Calc, and Junior Gym.
Doesn't seem too bad, I don't know the difficulty between AP and IB but IB was pretty easy for me. They would just slap IB on a random course and gave me an easy GPA boost for the easiest classes.
Has anyone tripped majored? I’m thinking about math, aerospace and mechanical which I know all share quite a bit
that would be an insane amount of work load
I mean half the engineering is straight math
I had a friend who graduated last year and is doing that
The work load would be a lot
Yeh I’m down for it
You’d have to slim down on your EC’s just to finish homework/study
And definitely expect to have summer classes
I mean I’m finishing my associates with high school too
Gotcha
you have ECs in college?
If ur normal 💀
relly?
That’s what I mean when I say EC
tha'ts very disesptrfucl to me.
Anyways, what’s your purpose in triple majoring?
To say I did it lmao
I’m def doubling with math and one of the other
You might receive a job offer from Lockheed martin
I’m not totally sure what the benefits of triple majoring are
But ik double majoring could be good
double majoring could be a smooth ride depending on what you choose and if they are similar and whether the colleges offer accelerated courses
Yeh that’s why I was thinking math and aerospace
you can double major or have a minor in one of those
seems like ur more interested in business tho
double major and minor if you have a big scholarship lmfao
is taking 4th year of language worth it
does Cornell have a bs/md program?
my sophomore year classes (submitting a schedule change for period 5 when they start requests and theyre still fixing my schedule up)
Thank god! I took 2 honors courses freshman year and it sucked
me whos taking 3 ap courses + 3 honors courses
+ devoting about 30 hours per week to study for olympiads and stuff
+ extracurriculars
damn thats a whole part time job ;-;
give me tips on time managment and god will bless you
trust
my school is easy in terms of work so itll differ
but ill try
If I were to take these classes, how much time do you guys think my homework load would be per night?
Algebra 1
Geometry
Biology
English
World History
Study Hall
Choir
AP world history?
dw this looks fairly easy you will get enough time to talk with your friends in general chat
bros grinding for veteran
how useful is ap lang in helping you develop writing skills for the future?
im thinking about taking it but the teacher at my school is really bad

I can't take any AP's as a freshman
hey guys. so im in 9th grade, im thinking of taking ap bio, but idk if its goin to be to hard for me. i havent taken and biology courses before. shuld i take or wait till 10th or 11th grade? im also aiming for ivy league scool.
*any
Depends entirely on how fast you naturally work and how you ration out your studying.
Do u know anything about bio
I want to have time to self study other topics and hang out with IRL friends + spend time with family 😭
not rlly
bruh
interesting!!!
I'll take that into consideration, thanks.
Take a biology course first.
So enthusiastic brotha
If you can, take honours bio
Well you shouldn't jump right into ap bio with no prior knowledge
indeed
I wish they had honours bio at my school 😔
Its honors*
Also biology is just such an abstract subject, AP bio will touch on things you will have needed to learn in any given biology class.
It's*
lmao
ok
But I use a U in honour and in colour
u dare to play my own tricks against me
maybe there’s something wrong with your spellings
Europeans do it 💀
They do?
I've always written that way
Most, yeah
If you are enthusiastic about it though, don't let that kill your motivation. I'd just suggest taking a biology class (honors if possible) and maybe even self-studying. If you go to Barnes and Noble's you can find an assortment of AP Bio prep books, and with your regular bio studying you can put yourself in a really solid position. It's always important to be thinking about what's next!
If you are truly ready and willing, I won't tell you to stop yourself. Biology was my weakest subject freshman year, personally haha.
thing is im takin ap world and cs principals and i dont wanna overwork myself
well we all hav to take hard classes in hs.
Good thinking, AP world isn't awful for workload but I have no idea about computer science principals.
Everyone should, but you have to take classes that are reasonable for you.
i herd cs principals is one of the easiest APs
Well then that's good!
tru, u cant burn urself.out
Amen to that, especially freshman year.
Amen
is dual enrollment hard?
yes
for english/writing
is it good for college aside from getting credit/is the workload worse than ap?
@sour isle
I don't know personally, I was going to do pre-law dual enrollment but I never had the time in my schedule. From what I've heard, it's just like another advanced class.
elaborate
Entirely depends on the person and how involved they want to be with their academics. If taking college courses on campus (or off campus) sounds appealing, then go for it. I don't personally see to it that it'd be an enjoyable thing.
another advanced class as in like honors? @sour isle
ap
yeah definitely AP
What’s are like BS/MS programs
Wat AP courses could someone self study for?
From the sounds of it, a combined bachealors and masters program
Macro, micro, stat, comp sci principles
And like mostly fact based AP
something thats more fact based
If I take a flex/free period, when evaluating gpa, assuming 7 periods, would it just be over 6, since there’s no grade for the flex period
How do you know I'm more interested in business 🤨
can anyone send an outline for an email to a counselor regarding a class change
Question: If I took honors math freshman and sophomore year, but decided to take regular leveled junior year would that be make or break on a college application ?
I am also taking 4 AP’s junior year
It wouldn’t make or break
But it wouldn’t look that good
If I go back to honors senior year would it look better ??…
Probably
would anyone suggest adjustments to this schedule at all? summer is all my aps and dual enrolled credits and stuff
any that they will let u
does ap microecon come before macro ? which is offered in the first sem
They're separate courses with some overlap, but I don't think they're dependent on each other
Is sociology good for Pre-med? Im trying to switch out but am not sure if I should go through with it
Macro focuses on the economy as a whole while micro focuses on the small stuff
u dont know some countries adds the letter "u" in some words???
no LOL
they do?
Is self studying AP Bio, AP lit, AP stats, AP American Government, and AP Macroeconomics too much for a junior who’s never taken an ap pr honors course? How well can I do in the classes?
I worded that weirdly, im just self studying ap bio
If ur good at math, science, and writing u can do it
Nah macros easy
but theyve never taken a ap/honors course before and they are self studying
Don't self study Ap bio
ez
And maybe AP Italian after I get good at Spanish
wha-
ap italian is a thing?
2 AP LANGUAGES
Yeah
Yes
BRO
I like spanish
Good luck
I have a passion for language
Fluent?
Latin is superior 🤓
My spanish teacher thinks I should take AP Spanish Lang so
Imma do it
Maybe self study AP Spanish Lit while doing spanish
I'm entering sophomore
But I do AP Spanish Lang in senior year on my schedule
After I do Spanish IV
Same!
Prereqs
Last year?
Ahhh
Our school has a lot of neccssary prereqs to take APs
Same
Or county system
I just do them online though
Well
I'll transfer to another school for a semester
Cuz I plan on taking AP Physics C
That's a hard class
Yeah
Good luck man
Thanks
i dont think u should self study ap bio, maybe take ap bio class and self study an easier ap class
if u never even took an honor class, it may be a bit diffucult for those classes
but if ur dedicated, u can do it
Im amazing at math, then in terms of best to worst subjects it goes social studies, then english and science is my worst subject
I am dedicated
then i think you would do fine! i suggest tho maybe take ap bio class and self study an easier ap class as i said before. but if ur dedicated to self study ap bio, then u can do it.
u could also remove some ap classes in junior if its too much and take some in sernior. but if u have lots of motiavation, it could still work out
but if u are motivated to do ur orignal plan, then go for it!
Honestly, regular bio was hard for me, but I do think I can do it
Any social studies class I can surely handle along with Stats
same for me lol
Lit and bio are really my only concerns, and the teacher for Lit is really awesome
😂😂
yeah, those seems to be easier classes
lit and bio are seen as the harder classes for sure
maybe talk to ur school conselor for more info
and advice
I did, were just trying to get my priorities straight,
Don't forget u have resources
ooo ok
I can’t really take AP Bio as a class bc it would destroy what my schedule is all about. It just doesn’t fit nicely, i can’t take it senior yr because its only offered every other year
Yea it sucks
So i may have to transfer for a semester
Ik a girl in my grade took the AP Mandarin test
Even tho we don't have courses for it
So imma try to get my counselors to let me self study AP Human Geo or either AP Italian or AP Spanish Lit after I finish Hon Spanish IV
That’s awesome (:
Yeah
I just hope self studying doesn't affect my course schedule
Cuz I'm just studying for the exams, not the coursework to boost my GPA
Yeah
oh rip
How about senior yr? I wanna do AP Calc BC, AP Chem, APUSH, AP Language and Composition. And AP Psych or APES (1 of the 2) I’d have to take Calc BC, APUSH, AP Chem and one other AP in one semester. Its just the way the schedule has to be
Ap Chem?????
Calm down buddy u cant just go from no APs to chem
how did u do in chem
4 junior
if u took it
Thats senior yr
Me?
Ye
My school only offers BC, at my school, your supposed to take Calculus 1 first semester, then do AP Calc BC second semester
Oh alr
I think my school is weird compared to others in terms of ap’s
Just make sure ue getting the neccesaey knowledge cuz that could be a hard pill to swallow*
*(This is a metaphor, do not take ur AP Calc BC work and swallow it like a pill)
How so?
What
Idk it just feels like it
Well wut does ur school offer in terms of APs?
this is off topic but yall have math 4 and 5? dang
No AP Physics?
Yes, Math 1 and 3 is alg 1 and 2, math 2 is geometry, math 4 and 5 is precalc and trig, and calc is calc
Oof
ohh
And not a single world language AP?
Nope
No World or Euro?
Nope
Yeah, I refuse to take AP Art because the last time I took an art class was when I was like 10 years old probably and I hate it
Im not gonna take Comp sci bc the teacher is absolutely dreadful
Other than that my options are open
Oh true 😂
Unfortunately
Imagine calc cd
Anyone know the dead APs?
Naw
Imma god
Except for AP CS AB
And one was rebirthed
They got rid of AP Italian
For a year
Then put it back
The other two are AP French Lit. And Latin Lit.
And there was a conceptualized AP Russian Course
Damn why do you hate art
people say im naturally good at art, (and enjoy it) but id be honest, i hate it at times cuz it could be stressful at times. mostly for me, i hate it cuz i always think my art piece always looks bad and then i compare it to others
my personal experince
oh shit man why cant u include that last warning first I had already swallowed it :(
this sounDs pretty gooD honestly, calc bc offers minimal adDitional content to calc ab/calc 1. just some polar stuff that coulD be realistically covereD for most stuDents in 1 semester
Opinions on schedule, I have AP Lit, AP Psych, AP Stats, Chem, Medical Pathway Course, French 2, State History and Democracy, Earth Systems, and thinking of Early College Health Class and Speech Class, might just do the ec health class tho
im currently studying igcse and will do ib in the future so i was wondering if taking extra AP exams would help or would it be useless and should i dedicate my time somewher else?
i am currently looking forward to go towards engineering field, more specifically towards electrical engineering, i am currently studying IBDP and i am year 1, my subject choices are
HL:
maths aa
physics
chemistry
sl:
spanish
english
economics
am i missing out on something? i feel like the choices are pretty decent for the least
You should try taking computer science if you can
i cant take 3 science subjects and i dont think i will be able to give up on chemistry .-.
Is Computer Science a science course in your school? It's a math class in my school
i think it varies by school. at my school we can take computer science to substitute a math or science class but not both
interesting
Anyone know really good resources to self study AP Bio?
#ap-exam-help or #science-help would probably be better channels for this
My b
is AP chem or AB bio more difficult?
I think the consensus is Chem
ok, thats what i heard from other people too, just wanted to check lol
Chem
Any changes I should make to my schedule
Ap Calc
Ap Bio
Ap Chem
Ap Gov
Rhetoric Writing
Spanish 101
which ap calc?
ab
how hard are IB classes?
Why are you taking 2 science classes?
and how many classes does ur school allow you to take in a school year
maybe they are a sciece persoan
Yeah
what if I take like 20
interesting
I don’t give a shit what u say computer science isn’t a science
People would say “I’m taking 3 sciences” and I’m like stfu comp sci doesn’t count
what does "a science" mean then
also my school considers it a math class
Where is the science in computer science?
look through this, and see if CS fits it (it does btw)
yeah
Also College board tends to group together the AP math courses and CS courses
yeah exactly
my school does too
My school doesn't have as many math courses as that lol
lol
it's basically just these:
algebra 1
geometry
algebra 2
precalculus
calculus
statistics
computer science
and then this thing
but yeah my school is fairly big
Heyy there ! Majoring in CS, i am eager to take the Wev and App development courses in my HS. But cuz of that i have to cut down on my other AP classes. Do think i should go ahead with the CS courses or just take up the APs. Tyia !
you'll probably be able to self study the CS APs
take the other APs
CSP and CSA
you can see material on collegeboard
lemme get the link one sec
Yeah you can learn quite lots from free/cheap online courses like udemy
Man, i spoke to guys who took the web course, and they showed me their websites - with full stack dev and UX design
It's in our school directory
Not for everyone uk
U grow up kid
I aint need to prove shit to u
Especially to a guy with PEANUTS in his pfps
Such a wuss
i cant say how mmuch it would help but it ceratinly wouldnt hurt
and there is a lot of ap exams you could take with just ib course knowledge, the only extra time you would really have to dedicate is the time it would take you to sign up for the exams
and you could just take the exams without studying and youll probably do fine
just from my own experience you could pretty easily get a 5 on both ap calc exams if you do well in ibhl math, same thing with ap english lit and lang as they are mostly just skills classes, if you take ib chem/bio its probably not easy but certainly possible to do well on the ap exams, probably some others like cs and psych too but i dont have expereince there
the only problem id say is that there might be scheduling conflicts with your ib and ap exams and you might have to go in for some strange make up times/in some cases people i know had like 10 hours of back to back testing because there ib and ap exams were on the same day
My school offered to let me take ap bio freshman year but I turned it down because I wasn't interested
Now I can only take it if I specialize in biology at my school
Is this gonna affect my chances of getting into mit
thank you so much for your advice and sharing your experience!!
Possibly not, or maybe. Biology is one of the science core requirements to get into mit. However, I think you can try advanced math, chem or physics as your other courses. These subjects are also strongly recommended by mit.
It also depends on what career you want to have. If your career requires biology, then you have to specialize it. If not, other subjects mentioned (and if you research more) are other options you can take to increase your acceptance to mit.
what ib subjects should i choose/consider if i want to do comp sci/research at mit in the future?
Can anyone help me tell the difference between computer science and information technology?
Do u workout
Is it better to switch from IGCSE/O levels to IB?
Hey guys I’m that crazy mf who wanted to do AP Lit, AP Stats, AP Macroeconomics, AP American Gov, and Self Study AP Bio. At this point, I’ll be a junior, and I’ll have no prior experience with AP or Honors courses. However, I am incredibly serious about education and I averaged like an A- last year. I’m also taking Chemistry, Math 4 and 5 Honors (which is pretty much trig/precalc). I was wondering, would it be reasonable to self study AP Calc AB during Math 5 Honors. It wouldn’t necessarily be a self study bc I would still do Math 5 stuff but I was wondering if I could do Calc AB in my other free time ig.
I am incredibly strong in math and its easily my best subject hands down. Social studies I’m also pretty good at,
Im decent at english and I like science but it is my worst subject out of the 4
This would be 6 AP’s, 2 of which would be self studies kinda. Thoughts?
What
I have community service hours and I’ll be on the math team and participate in the chess club (;
Thanks bro
Fist bump
I think its a good idea
Kk
hi i’m trying to decide if i should take ap bio or ap physics as sophmore (wanting to major in computer science).
i heard the current bio teacher is mostly self study while a new physics teacher is coming. thoughts?
My school doesn’t have a very big course selection so the only ap/dual credit class I haven’t taken is world history
And I don’t like the only world history teacher is pretty bad
Ya
K
Classes can vary depending on where you live bc they offer different programs and Ap classes
If you want the highest weighted classes talk to ur counselor
Also I’ve taken intro to chem so would it make it worth it to switch ap chem for ap phys
I did that as well
Mainly bc my major will be cs
But for example if you want to get into the medical field it will be good to take AP Chemistry
if you're good at math and algebra you could definitely pass ap physics
teachers can definitely make or break a class, but if you're interested in bio the class would be worth it imo
AP physics, it will correlate to your major but also meet a new teacher. If you feel like it was a bad decision you can always change the class during your first 2 weeks of school
okay thank you guyss but also is it even worth it to take these aps if i’m going to do running start later on and can take the classes there?
eh physics might be slightly more useful in cs
Sometimes I wonder how many classes I can really handle
6 AP's and 6 dual enrollment classes?
maybe for hs cs, but in the real world, if you ever program games or anything like that then having a solid physics understanding may be slightly useful
you are crazy
Yeah that's why i'm a little sketch bc i have to do college apps
I think we all believe that somehow we can do it all
your 12th grade schedule is actually insane
and 11th
lol
okay thank you! i’ll take everything you said in mind and probably take ap bio! (then take physics later during running start)
is anyone taking ap pre calc this year?
I took precalc freshman year but I didn't take the AP becuase it didn't exist
I'm planning to but I already took precalc
I just feel like taking the ap
my school doesn't make us do both AB and BC
just one
Multi var calc
that’s true
my school doesn't make us do both AB and BC
pain
yeah np
is it too big of a jump to be taking no aps to 2? i signed up for ap world but im considering taking economics or human geography as well
no, not really
No
do you think this a good selection of classes for junior year?
Assuming you are willing to work and you can keep up with the work yes
Yeah in it rn, two lessons into unit 1
What courses should I take if I wanna become a software engineer
seems fine
algebra 1 but i got a high A in that class
then in sophomore year i took geomentry honors
Well matters
What exactly in software engineering?
You could focus on AI, Cybersecurity, or Web Development
Fr im taking AP CsA just for the ap credit
I’ll just be fooling around in that class
just wanted to say that the main reason for this is that physics is really different than traditional subsects of math/science and it's why so many people go in expecting simple problems, and get bogged down.
Also why the other physics (C mainly) have higher pass rates is because the only people taking them are the people that have taken a prior physics class
Uh
How is the AP Spanish Lit. Exam?
Am thinking of self studying for it after I take AP Spanish Lang or Hon Spanish IV
No
says the peanut man
its very good but y do u have two lunch
sem 1 and 2?
it looks great! looks like you have some fun classes too :D
Rate the schedule:
Mentorship
Engineering capstone
AP psychology
AP pre-calculus
Lunch
Study hall
Physics
Symphonic Band
which grade
12
Ok syaye schopl standards?
Hm?
Idk what some of the classes mean but it sounds ok…? Maybe one or two more aps would be better
Mentorship, is a class where I have an internship with a company. Engineering capstone is like 4th year engineering class.
cuz ap psych and precalc i assume are easy
Dang
thats great
I like it, it looks fun :O
Well, I’m not an Ivy student, I’m an average student probably, so I have only taken one AP before which was AP music theory, so I don’t want to push it too much
Have u taken courses similar to pre calc
Alr
I may debate taking AP psychics ngl
Just depends on wut u want to go into
but it’s also senior year and I am an average student, maybe slightly above average but idk
I want to go into engineering, mechanical or aerospace
First time taking physics?
Top 50 might be hard then a lil bit
is ap seminar worth taking? i heard it was hell
AP seminar pretty easy from what I’ve heard
u get the capstone diploma
Same
Yes
I don't think the capstone diploma is all that worth it
oooo
Ap physics 1 might be hard
Ok I’ll stick to normal loll
if u have not done many aps before
I’ve not done a core class AP before
is there a point in taking sem and not research?
Seminar I recommend
no
oh.
U need to take both sem and research to get the diploma
And plus u need to score a 3 or higher on other APs I believe
because next year i get to pick from electives and there are only like 3-4 aps to choose from and its sem, micro, macro, and cs
I got a 3 on AP music theory
Micro and macro I can’t speak for idk
bad at comp sci
oh
it was the only class i got a b in last eyar
Have u taken an intro?
so yk like terrible
In terms of APs at ur school
B isn’t bad
If there are only 4 of them
4 for that year tho
well i might actually not be that bad at micromacro
wait..
is micromacro not tech.
IM SO STUPID
lmao
Microeconomics and macroeconomics
Macro focuses on the economy as a whole
Nopeee
ok well ig ik what my aps are gonna be next year
Micro is like individual parts or smth like that
I wish I took more APs during my years, like I didn’t know what college was until junior year basically
Oof
Yeah I always go for the APs when possible
And am considering self studying in my free time
Maybe AP Human Geo
idk i think i wish i wouldve started mid 10th
Imma self study a language
i started caring in 8th grade and i twas
Either AP Italian or Spanish Lit
annoying
my plan is to take like 20 lol
My current AP count that I plan on taking is like 12
I could self study Human Geo, Italian, and Spanish Lit.
20 is very difficult to do and you’ll probably end up sacrificing a lot more time that you could’ve spent more productively
eh
Honestly not all APs are even good or worth it
Like this is my personal opinion but precalc, hug, and psych are pretty much jokes for aps
No thats actually difficult
And CSP
I mean
ik precalc is a joke
Just take physics 1 and skip 2 to physics C
also I won't take psych
Bruh they aren’t even having polar and parametrics on the exam
Like that’s the entire thing that separates precalc from Alg II lol
yeah I'll probably do that honestly
yeah
Well matters
Cuz 1 is more mech heavy
And 2 is more electronics heavy
thingamabobber remembee me
So if you were interested in electrical
Well
The our want to see about physics II
My school only offers 1 and C
Self studying 2 is like a suicide mission
Oh
i got like 4 new ecs 🥸🥸🥸
What our school does is I one semester and II the other
my school only offers C mech out of the 4
check out my linkedin fr
My school offers both E&M ans mechanics
my npo + 2 startups aren’t on there tho
probably not to the ivies and mit honestly
Oh fidutam that sounds cool
Oh yeah what were ur startups on again?
(those are the schools that I wanna go to)
Matters on what you’re self studying and for what
Like if you want to pursue physics/engineering in the future and your school doesn’t offer all the ap physics then self study for physics
And other Honors Spanish Courses cuz I love spanish
You do have to separate yourself
Well I plan on pursuing Astrophysics
Everybody’s taking languages
But
I kinda wanna be well rounded
Am gonna take AP Chem, Physics I and Physics C
Stat, Calc AB and BC
Ok
Do you think that is sufficent?
In terms of STEM
Alr I'll self study Physics 2 in senior year alongside Physics C
Cuz they offer both E&M and Mechanics
So then
AP HUG cuz thay's easy and I could solidify my social studies courses
AP Physics 2 to complete my tour of physicd
AP Italian and maybe Spanish Lit cuz I'm Spanish Lang and want to improve my linguistic skillz
hi I rlly need help with my schedule
I am changing from cs to pre med
that I replace my ap csa to ap bio and I am not sure is the rest ok
ap jap, ap stats, ap cal bc, eng 12, ap phy 2, gov, econ
is this ok or should I replcae anything more
ok
@pearl mesa but I am not sure should I take ap econ cuz my brother said it is ez
and I am not planning to take the ap physcs exam is that ok too?
Seems like more of a reason to take it lmao
Yeah that’s fine
ok thx
Hi, I recently planned out my course selection I hope to take for the rest of HS, and I think it'll be good enough for my top university picks. I was hoping someone could look at it an give any feedback.
It looks good to me. Too many APs, but I hope you're prepared! Good luck ♡
Why
Thoughts?
any AP classes recommendation for a sophomore who goes to a school that doesn't offer APs?
hello, I have my subject selection for year 9, and I wanted to choose my career as a med student. Any suggestions on what subjects I should choose?
do yall think commerce and graphics tech is good for yr 9 electives? cuz im interested in both sales and drawings
Poni man I'm having jitters
Most ppl say if u haven't done ur hobbies or anything at a good level where u competed, or if it isn't a club or something it really doesn't help much
And I can't find engineering programs
I'm gonna do boxing but I don't think I'll get good in it so fast cause I'll have to apply soon and I can only start from next summer
Ig boxing is a club cause I do classes and stuff but like this is crazy bruh
Obviously doing your hobbies at a level where you can compete is good
but another big part people forget is committment. You can be bad at something (like tennis for me), but as long as you've played since say the start of highschool, that'll show colleges that you have dedication towards it
and also starting something the summer to senior year probably won't help you much
I mean I work towards these goals 15-18hrs everyday
And gonna be like 20-25 when I start boxing
I do this and maintain my grades
And I'm very
And I mean very serious bout all of this
you actually have to know spanish for it so if you don't you need to review lol
if you are strong in math or ever took ap chem/chem honors and had a high A you should be good
you're going to work 20-25 hours a day?
also I understand that you'll work hard, but to colleges it'll seem like you started up something new for the sole purpose of college apps
A week dawg
Nah
I've been doing this before america
I didn't even know I would be going to America
alright I was confused because you said 15-18 hours a day, then said 20-25 without specifying it was a week
But America gave me time so I started this new stuff
Before america I did do running cause I got the time
Sorry mb
I was running when I said that
My brain wasn't functioning
Can i do cs major in college without any prior experience?
I'm taking Spanish Lang, would that be useful for that coursr in terms of self studying?
yes, since it's gonna just teach more material
at a faster speed
Can i do cs major in college without any prior experience?
yes
Like i dont even know coding can i still major in cs?
Without any experience it would be somewhat harder ig
Obviously doing your sports at a higher level is better. But it’s still your EC’s, so you keep doing them if you rlly like doing it
I don't do these for college
I'm very passionate about all these things
I do them for self discipline
Do you think these ec,
A cyber security program,
1350-1400 sat and 3.8 gpa gonna get me to a&m
No clue. I don’t know much about a&m
It's like a 64%
You should just focus on finding a program, or finding a club, or smth that you enjoy
Avg gpa around 1300-1350
Don’t worry about if doing this or that will get you into this or that college
Ye I'm gonna do a cyber security test program it kinda goes with engineering
Do u think just doing stuff im passionate bout will help
Yes
Sigh
Wut
More thoughts?
Is it possible to self study AP Spanish Lit after Spanish Lang?
“Anything is possible”
Don’t self study too much
Also make time for ECs
Colleges will wonder what better things you could’ve done with your time
There's a whole lot worse you can do it
Just be determined and stay ahead or else you'll get buried
Yeah
I've got a crapton of ECs
I also want to get into Astrophysics so like
I kinda have to take AP Physics classes and Chem
ill just take it in school ig
And
I'm kinda interested in world language
And I kinda need to take another social studies class according to Common Data Sheets
how hard is euro
One of the hardest I've heard

I’m taking it this year as well
why
not really lol
I started self studying it and it's honestly not that bad
just go slow w it
for CS (we dont have any IB physics)
my school gave anyone taking the exam (regardless of if you're enrolled in the class) this study booklet and im going through it
u dont need physics for cs
some parts of it you do, and I might go into math as well
it's kinda useful
K what parts
bro what u dropped ur computer or smth
and doing a bunch of math stuff in general
intresting
because it's basic scientific knowledge about how the world works and it's a good foundation for making mathematics applicable, and math is fairly important to computer science.
Copy pasta
I would know because my brother is a CS major ☠️
lol
my moms cousins husband brother is a berk graduate
i would know better
amazing
in all seriousness, physics does help a bit
👍
is it feasible for me to do 3 olympaids
how is that offensive to the brother
no
idk elipsis get offended easily
No offance again
NO I DONT /s
i have to be careful
you said no offence to the brother
ok
u know exactly what i mean
arent you doing usapho
no i just dropped it
because usamo and usaco is too much work already
will focus more on ML and these olys
u said that like 10x, thanks again 🙏
How is AP Pre-Calc and AP Lang?
What aps would you guys suggest for a sophomore who wants to major in aerospace engineering?? the answer would obviously be physics and math related courses but I can’t take them in my grade and I’ve heard they’re pretty hard to self study for
compared to my high school's honors precalc, AP precalc is fairly easy
you can try self studying for ap csp if you want
Basically all AP Physics
O
No self study?
Wait
Wat do they offer at ur school?
Also AP Chem is not a bad course for engineering
they do offer ap physics, but it’s in like 11th grade I believe
True (:
Wat about Chem
Wait no
Don't self study Chem u'll die
Unless u've taken chem classes before
I wont do that
I don’t know about ap chem… if they’re offering physics they should offer chem, but I don’t remember seeing anything about it on my course selection sheets
they do offer stats in senior year
Ok cool
I started learning python recently and in between learning i feel some topics hard is that normal?
And how much time does it take to learn Python fully and start my own project
Learning Python is learning a language so it will take a long time, however it depends on your learning style and what project you want to do
Is this too much to handle for my junior year?
(AP) US History
Pre Calculus Honors
Chemistry Honors
Spanish
(AP) Physics
ELA Honors
PE / Health
MDA portfolio (Required)
I am taking Algebra II Honors and Geometry in Sophomore year.
AP Physics 1?
uhh idk but if it was Physics C its very hard from what i heard
My school only offers AP Physics 1
at least I think it’s physics 1, the disc doesn’t tell me the specific units just: ”This course included topics in both classical and modern physics. A knowledge of algebra and trigonometry is required for the course. The basic ideas of calculus may be introduced in connection with physical concepts, such as acceleration and work. Understanding of the basic principles involved and the ability ao apply these principles in the solution of problems are the major goals of the course. This rigorous course is intended for students who have demonstrated a willingness to commit considerable time to studying and completing assignments outside of the classroom.
Students registering for this course must also register for the associate lab”
An algebra-based, introductory college-level physics course that explores topics such as Newtonian mechanics (including rotational motion); work, energy, and power; mechanical waves and sound; and introductory simple circuits. This course is followed shortly after with AP®︎ Physics 2, which we also support.
no its ezzzzz
Which one
mech
What are some easy AP classes for a sophomore who goes to a sch that doesnt offer any APs
My school offers APs just not much
What APs are u planning to choose?
I'm going to do AP World History this year but I might just do dual enrollment
AP Human Geography is pretty easy for a sophomore
Should I change any of my courses?
I’m new to this and only know that some colleges can find certain classes more desirable
Im a sophomore
generally you want to take high-rigor and classes that pertain to your major
Ah, what classes would be good for Computer Science? :0
APCSP, APCSA, physics and stats
any engineering class also works
thats a good schedule, all honors with APs is nice
