is it bad to take 2 APs as a freshman
they are known to be some of the easiest
but I was wondering about course rigor and stuff
like i’m scared for the exams
the APs are comp sci principles and human geo
No not really
Those are easy you’re fine
thanks!
i have the oppurtunity to take apwh online next year as a freshman should i take it? pls ping
If you can handle it, I don’t see a reason not to
Yes
What happens if you don’t take any APs in your Junior Year??
my school offers only ap calc and english for grade 12 💀
This is the description for my Honors Spanish IV class. Is this closer to AP Spanish Lit or AP Spanish Lang?
Has anyone taken AP Statistics? How is the courseload?
Easiest ones
Are you in Katy ISD, or Texas?
But, AP Comp Sci is the easiest AP
And Human Geo is one of the easiest as well
Basically you are getting free GPA boosters
Ap spanish lang
Spanish lit is like literary analysis but In Spanish I’m pretty sure
So it’s like ap English lit but in Spanish
It’s for people who are very fluent or native in Spanish
Would this be too much senior year?
I’m planning on taking the SAT 2 more times. One in august and the other in September
And I have a rough draft of my college essay along with the schools I’m applying to
And I’m a club president
I want to major science so
Only 5 classes?!
You don’t do 7?!
Wha. . .
That’s kinda dumb ngl.
I have 7 periods but 5 classes lol
It seemed easy
lol
Major Science. . . what in science?
bio is pretty easy, apes is easy, bc isnt that bad, should've done ap eng but its fine, ap chem prolly on the harder side but its pretty easy imo i aced the ap exam
BIOE
yes
Nobody can tell you if it's too much besides yourself
no
no, ur fine; just add a few de classes and cc classes and u should be good
So in conclusion it's up to you. Nobody can really make that decision for you
y
might as well save a few thousand $$$ along the way before collegeg
he shoulda thought about it before his senior year tbh
but
senior year is last year of fun
take it
Does anyone know the easiest AP classes to take
for each subject, Such as math science, social studies etc.
Im intrested in the medical path
do you think AP bio is easy?
or is it challenging
I couldnt tell you I’m taking it this coming year lol
alright
CSA, CSP, world history, apush, calc ab
Im an incoming freshman, so the only AP class I can take is AP human Geo
That goes for most schools
Freshman have limits
I couldn’t take any ap classes as a freshman
oof
I was also late to the college game
Didn’t know ap classes were such a big deal until junior year after I had chosen my classes
I am trying to plan a 4 year course for high
but I have trouble on what coursses to selec t for future years
such as 10th 11th and 12th grade
yeah
Im trying to find a easy-going class
AP psych
nothing too difficult
yeah I understand that
It could be beneficial to start getting used to harder classes
Also if you’re looking to get into better colleges
They’re looking for course rigor
rigor?
Hard classes
ah
Taking hard classes while still getting good grades
I thought they would also focus on extra cirriculers
ah
Since you’re a freshman
That’s cool
Joining some clubs would be good too
Getting leadership is good as well
Band could lead to eventually getting things like first chair, and going on to place at state and regional levels
Chess club is a great club
I made region and district for middle school
Anything that you enjoy doing will make a great EC
unfortunately colleges don’t care all that much about middle school
But that’s still rlly good work
yaeh lmao
Good signs for high school
Gotta focus on high school regional process
also @pearl mesa do you recommend taking Adv classes for freshman year
Depends
Most cases I’d say yes
It’ll help boost your GPA
Because my current schedule is:
Adv Bio
Adv Geometry
Adv English I
Band
AP Human Geo
Spanish II
future schedule*
taking honors classes
Our school doesnt have honor system
That’s alright
I’d still say taking adv classes is a good thing
Overall it’ll help better prepare you
true
the only class Im worried about is history
because I suck at it
other subjects im good at
Online resources will be your best friend
Especially for AP classes
Curriculum is the same throughout every class
what do you use for online resources?
Ive been using quizlet
There’s no one right answer
Calculus bc builds off ab concepts
But a good portion of it is ab review
Hence why there is a ‘b’ in both the names
how about AP english lang
To get into a good college
I’m not too familiar with it, only AP lit
But I’d still say they’re both good classes to take
Writing skills are very important especially when it comes down to writing essays for college
yeah
Im willing to struggle to achieve my goals
I want my major to either be chemistry, or biology
There’s a whole world of majors and things to learn
I’m sure you’ll love it
I want to major in biology as well
Just I want to have a concentration in human biology
Ty
People who have taken AP Physics I, how long does it take to finish the classwork after every class on average?
What courses in high school should I take for finance/econ major?
what courses does your school offer?
my school has econ, ap stats, ap calc AB and BC
i’d take econ and stats, and probably take calc
This right here
All four are good imo
alr
but which calc
bc for us they are different
What year of high school are you in
I’d take the easier one first, then the harder one last when you’ve taken more math course thingmajigs
my math path is like this, so it is alg 2, then precalc, then calc AB or BC, then stats
so I have to do one or the other
maybe calc bc
alr thanks
Honestly no clue, I’ve never seen a class named that before. Possibly quest bridge?
Dk what that is
What is this screenshot from?
Choice sheet form the school
It’d be beneficial to ask a teacher or counselor
should i do ap world freshman year
i already registered but i can probably still change
Yes i did it freshman yr and it was great.
It seems scary and difficult but it’s not
(Depends on your school tho)
well that goes for any class
But thank you
I'm gonna be a freshman this upcoming year, and I can only take a semester of sports due to class restrictions
Just wondering if thats okay or not
yeah thats totally fine
Alr thx
Yeah freshman year join 1 or two clubs you a actually enjoy and stick with them
I’m from Pakistan to salam
Waalikumislam rametullah he varabecotaco
Idk how to spell sorry
Same lol
can i have one course meet say the D and E transfer requirements for CSU
I didn’t take any APs freshman year (there were two available, Human Geo and CSP). Usually at my school freshman take one of the two. I didn’t, but I’m taking 2 APs next year which is standard. Should I self study an ez one to make up freshman year?
Honestly I don’t think it’s necessary
You have 3 years to catch up
As long as you’re taking the same as your classmates or more
You’re in a good position
K thanks
Nah just chill
Just take CSP later
In place of an elective
Thanks
what ap classes would you recommend for me to help show to the help show my love of cs to the admission officers
CSP CSA
yeah everything else is bs
for CS you have to learn yourself
teach yourself programming thru an online course
Take CS courses your school offers
You don’t need to take an online courses
But things like hackathons
Passion projects
All good things to show your interest
What are some schools like caltech (as in they focus more on theoretical/pure concepts rather than applied concepts in STEM)?
I have a tricky situation I need help with: Next year I'm planning to take AP Lit, but that could only happen if I could get a 3 or better on the AP Lang exam, and unfortunately this year, I failed even though I studied really hard for it. I genuinely believe I can handle the course material, so what should I do?
In case you're wondering, I got a 2 on the AP Lang exam
Well what’s stopping you from doing AP Lit?
Here's the thing-i self studied for that exam. I wasn't taking the class but took the exam to try to get ahead
I'm worried that my counselor might revoke my plans for next year and make me take a regular English class bc of my result
I’m still confused why you can’t take AP lit tho
They won’t make you take a regular English class
Your grade in the class will determine what class you take next
Not your AP score
I assume you’re taking an English class in school
So your grade in that class will determine if you’re ready for next level
Well my school kinda has a weird system-for certain classes that are more advanced, on top of getting good grades, you also have to score a certain range to actually enroll in the class. For example if you want to take multivariate calc from calc bc, on top of passing calc bc, you would have to score a 4 or better on the bc exam
For AP lit it's the same
@pearl mesa
what courses should I pick for grade 10?
What courses are available
depends on your major and your school’s options
Then i think you just have to make do with what you got
You could try self studying agn? But that seems to have proven not the right way for you to learn
if ur planning a good load junior/senior years ur good if not then yeh
I'm not sure if I should pick in between sports psychology, kinesiology or stress management since I need the credit for pe and all of them work for it?
That’s something for you to decide
We can’t tell you what you’d be interested in 🤷🏽♂️
Psychology is about the kind
Kinesiology is the way that muscles work
Stress management seems self explainable
Do you think it would really matter if I choose one over the other?
No
Unless you plan to take AP psych
Kinesiology could come in handy if you plan to take an anatomy class
But overall just choose what you’d like
What you’re interested in learning more about
I have taken general human anatomy and physiology recently
I'm planning on majoring in cognitive sciences tho so I wasn't sure if I should take sports psychology since it's a type of psychology class or if it wouldn't really matter
Oh I didn’t realize it said sports psychology
I don’t think it really matters
But if you want to go into cognitive sciences
Stands to reason you might enjoy sports psychology more?
Oh true
Sorry I don't really think abt classes if I would enjoy them or not just what I need to take yk
But it does sound like fun so I think I would take that
Thank you tho ^_^
does it matter?
Yeah I’m planning at least 9-10 those two years
ur chillin then
self studying is kinda useless imo
i do it for the credit not for admissions
but do u rlly need the credits?
check with ur cc if u acturally need it to fufill the igetc
what is igetc?
im working towards a AS-T in math and AA in engineering and know I need for them
how do people calculate UW GPA? i dont rly understand how numerical grades transfer into UW GPA
if anbody could tell me if their is a universal conversion that i dont know that would be great
Unweighted gpa is based off your grades in class, nothing else
But each school does it differently
There’s not really a universal conversion that I’m aware of
hm ok
Ik there are guides online tho
for my school from what i understand a 98 gives u 3.9 gpa points
and it decreases by 0.05 for every numerical value
Every college is going to recalculate your gpa
So it doesn’t matter a whole lot
ok
what about the credits on this, is that jus the amount of years that u took that course?
ok also if i have shud jus avg my sem grades for my overall grades
that's not how it is for most schools
in fact i've never heard of that
idk i go to the biggest hs in texas and from what ive understand w my counselours and friends thats how it is
UW gpa is usually calc as 93-100 is 4.0, 90-93 is 3.7, 87-89 is 3.3, 83-86 is a 3.0, and so on
im assuming you don't have below a b
a 78 is a 2.3
you just want to convert all your things to 4.0 scale and then average them
oh i jus meant indiviual semester
uw gpa im pretty sure is yearlong
if its dependent on school idk that tho
ohhh so if u fit in that range u jus add that up and divide it by the sum
bcs my school does yearlong
wowww
no semester gpa
so like lets say i got a 92,93,94,95, and 96
3.7+4.0+4.0+4.0+4.0
/5
wow that would be great if my school had that 💀
my UW that my school calced is a 3.7 based on there scale
there's an option at my schools to just take BC calc instead of taking AB and then BC, considering this option, thoughts?
this thing is a little funky cus it says i have a 4.11 UW GPA for my 2nd sem 💀
def do it
is that how many unis recalculate UW or do they not tell us that info
thats undisclosed
hm ok
many calcualte differetly
ok thanks
Yeah my school calculates differently. An A = 4, B = 3, C = 2, D = 1 and F = 0. For AP you just add 1 point. Then you divide by how many classes you took each semester
aps don’t give the extra point at my semester u less you get a B or higher
can you take the AP exam for a subject in middle school if you didnt take the class, do colleges still accept score before hs?
yes
wait actually?
For my school it's C or higher
yeah
holy
are 4 ap's too much?
“It depends”
apush, ap lang, ap physics 1, ap bio
ez
Alr cool
Does Biogenetic research or something like that help with premed?
guys I have interest in many fields like mathematics, physics, environmental science and sometimes chemistry what should I do I am really really confused between these 4 options and its nearly impossible for me to sacrifice one of them
My school puts aps on a 6 point scale dual credit on 5 and regularly on 4
So I'm starting to think about courses since I'm close to college and I really thought I wanted to do information technologies, but now I'm thinking about it and I'm not at an above average grade for it, but I'm really good with speech and drama. I honestly don't know if I should rather go down that route or stick with IT. Would it be a mistake to swap out IT for speech and drama?
ik this is mostly a college chat BUT
hello
i’ll be a freshman next year and i’m taking ap world. i’m considering self studying ap gov. i did three mcq ap gov tests, one was from then college board and the other two were from textbooks and i got 87-89% on all of them.
should i do it?
Yeah
This isn’t a college chat lol, most of the people here are high school students
Can anyone explain
About the
NIT AND IIT
if you felt confident on the tests, I'd say go for it. Just be sure to practice the free response questions as well
Question: So my school offers AP Chemistry sophomore year, and I'm not sure whether I should take that or honors, since it's recommended to take a high school level class before you take ap chem. Upperclassmen say it's really hard and require serious dedication. I do a bunch of extracurriculars and so I don't want to be overwhelmed, but also I feel as if it would also be a missed opportunity because I'm only going to be taking one other AP class, European History, and if I decide to take it later in high school after I have the prerequisite understanding, I would probably be doing 4-5 other ap classes as well and a lot busier. If anyone had any advice I would greatly appreciate but I'm really not sure what to do because there's a lot of what-ifs. Thanks!
It is a lot of work
But it’s up to you to decide if you can handle it with your other activites
if you took the course, how many hours did you spend daily studying/working for the class? And would you say it's definitely necessary to take a prior chemistry class?
Not necessary but highly recommended
I never took the class though, I’ve only had friends who did
I took the class this year and ill say that it is really hard, but taking a pre-chem (honors chem or pre-IB chem or just regular chem) will make it soo much easier
just self study regular chem
I am not sure about your school system but if possible, try taking ap chem in the first few weeks, if it is too hard then, drop it
I wouldn’t recommend dropping classes especially if they stay on your transcript
If you can avoid it, it’s be preferable
Why self study when you can take the class and get a 1.0 gpa bump?
Yes the class is ez af free 5
Well I changed my mind because earlier I forgot that I need to take gov to graduate
So I might as well just have an easy class
All students at ur school take gov?
Have to
yh
I was wondering for my school we are required to take 4 years of science in high school and i chose to do APES and AP Bio which are the only 2 science APs offered. I just don’t know which to take which yr?
Jr yr I am taking PreCalc Honors, AP Lang, French IV Honors, APUSH.
Sr yr I am taking AP Calc AB, CC English, AP French, and AP Gov.
dyou know of any resources that I could use to self study high school chem?
thanks for all the feedback and insight by the way :)
I hear that AP bio is the harder of the two so maybe put it in the year where you're taking easier classes
khan
academy
best website ever
👍
is AP Art history hard (as someone who knows nothing about art)
Environmental science is easier and bio is harder so senior year for bio. Also see if you can do AP pre calc. And switch AB out for BC
some schools require AB before BC
and not all schools offer ap precalc
That's why I asked him
To see if he can
Understandable
ok
I don’t recommend taking BC without taking AB
Would it be ok to take pre calc before BC?
I’d like to know bc I’m considering pre calc in my sophomore yr
Yes, you will want to complete precalc or algebra II and trigonometry before taking calculus.
Ok thank you
So I’d like to either take AP Statistics or pre calc next year (sophomore yr) and BC in Junior yr
I never took pre calc bc it wasn’t a class offered but I’m finding that calc AB will help a lot before BC
But maybe pre calc will be sufficient 🤷🏽♂️
i kind of disagree with this, like 60% of the bc curriculum is just the stuff you would cover in calc ab so the class is mostly just review and i would say most if not all bc concepts dont really require prerequisite ab knowledge that isnt already covered or reviewed in the bc curriculum
Just my opinion, take it with a grain of salt as it’s not my decision to make
just spend like 15 minutes practicing calc AB everyday in the summer and you should be able to take BC without too much struggle
Depends
And I mean look I’m not a good source tbf
I took AB in 7th grade and BC in 8th
However I feel like the added content in BC could typically just be taught in line with AB given enough time
In the end it’s just an additional two units (infinite series and parametric/polars)
And then a bunch of other stuff sort of mixed in there without any real theme
All depends on your background in mathematics
basically if you did good in pre-calc and algebra 2, go straight to BC
that's what all my friends have done and it's worked out fine for them
hi, i’m gonna be a sophomore next year and am taking precalc
should i take bc or ab after that
and if i take ab at school and pass the ab test can i take the bc test without taking it at school?
Bruh just read what the guy above you said
And u might wanna take calc III in senior if ur majoring in something like math
do you guys think i should do dual enrollment for college credit to skip the humanities classes or to do dual enrollment for what i am interested such as electrical and electronics engineering?
If you’re planning to stay in state for sure
And even if you’re not, I’d still say it’s a good idea because it shows course rigor
You can take the class but not sign up for dual enrollment
Oh.wwll rates what I'm doing taking BC senior year and pre calc junioe
Tbf, I have no clue how the pre calc curriculum is
in 11th grade right now and took math, economics, statistics, business and accounts as my electives.i'm also doing law courses on the side. what are the best courses i can take for undergrad
Really depends on your interests and skills
Who is in freshman
what if i’m gonna major in cs
That’s also helpful
Some fields of CS like machine learning use calculus
alr
Should I take multi variable calculus?
me!!
If u wanna major in cs or math or something similar
Ok
Hi
If you don't take it in high school, you will also be fine. Most people will take it in college.
I know I want to go to college I just don’t know which one and I know I want to major in math. I have never taken an AP course or honors course.
-AP Biology
-Chemistry
-Organic Chemistry
-Math 4 and 5 Honors (Trigonometry and precalc)
-AP Macroeconomics
-Self study AP World History and take the test (with teacher help) (its not offered at my school, which is why im self studying)
-AP Language and Composition
-This life issues class
None of these classes are “required” to graduate, however I do need more credits so it doesn’t matter. I love math and social studies and I am getting better at english. Science is probably my worst subject but I’m willing to learn and get better. Im taking almost no social studies because I want to prepare for the act. Is this a good schedule? (Im a Junior)
Can’t yet, have to take it as a senior
Awesome
Is 4 ap’s a good amount?
I wanted more but it just won’t work out
Take as many as possible
Ok yea, I switched my schedule to one with ap bio. With or without it, it would result in 10 Ap’s so yes thats good
Ty
And thats just in 2 years so I think thats pretty good
My school offers like 14 I think, so I believe 10 is a good number,
True, the ap’s im not taking that my school has is, Comp sci A and principles, Psych, and Art and Design and chem
The really hard ones I plan on doing are Bio, Calc Bc, Lit, self studying APWH, and APUSH is arguably quite difficult
So I feel like I’m challenging myself (:
The teacher at my school that teaches it is horrible. He teaches math and comp sci, I had him for math and I hated him with a passion, and the comp sci kids hate them even more
Besides, I don’t really care abt it, So imma pass completely
I would take AP Chem but I need to take Inorganic Chem as a requirement, but I can’t fit it in my schedule
And my school offers AP Chem and AP Bio every other year because of numbers, even tho AP Bio has like 40 kids registered into it. Really dumb imo
My school only offers 2
Take both then
Yea I alr did last year, i suppose it’s compensated bcuz mt scholl offers dual enrollment
And I’ve taken 7 courses total
And I’m a rising senior
So I’ll be taking 5 college classes tmr completely next year
Or ig in august💀
Idk if I regret not taking Spanish or something
I took it via the college for 2 years, but I could’ve did more than that😔
Damn that’s great
Instead of Spanish at the college, I took English courses and psych
Yea that’s what I’m tryna do in the future
Ap psych I’ve heard is super fun
I didn’t take it, I took intro to psych via dual enrollment which is basically the equivalent
Great class
Next year my senior schedule at the college is gonna be
- creative writing
- prob & stats
- philosophy
- infancy and childhood (psych)
- tai chi lol
Tai chi for my missing gym credit lmao
I’m excited tho
I hate my highschool
I’m so glad I could just be at college full time
Mine is too but it’s like the people
The staff are insane
Like my principal is insane I don’t get it
I’m a great student and she hates me cuz I don’t be glazing her
🤷♀️
Idk my school is jsut toooo personal
Are you validictiorian ?
My class rank is #5
What’s ur gpa
So ur a sophmore ?
Ohh
Damn
Well u chillin
Keep working hard and at least you’re aware of all this college stuff early
Freshman year was fully Covid and I didn’t know anything about college tbh
Goated nice
Hey so uh I’m in grade 8 going to grade 9 next year do I get to pick aps in my grade or grade 10
Oh k
@cinder gorge u seem like a really good student that’s gonna be hella busy and stressed out
So continue that hardworking path but Fr rembeer
To have fun
Burning out in highschool just isn’t worth it
Not saying u will or are
But just advice to go out, have a life, and enjoy yourself as well as excel in school
Cuz colleges are also looking for somebody that has fun too lol
But yes ur doing great
Keep it up and have fun this summer
How many Ap classes is too many in a year
Generally how many would you suggest?
Personally I did 0/1/3/6 and senior year got a little intense so maybe like 2-4 a year
But I don’t know your capabilities
You did this? (To confirm)
0 in frreshmen year
1 in sophomore
3 in junior
6 in senior
Yep what I would say though is certain AP's require prerequisites so find out what you like soon
Try 3 a year
Maybe you could do 4_6
You need to formally remember everything you understand
Yea
I’m only have 5 classes so I’m just taking NJROTC English 4 American gov and Econ and intro to culinary arts and emergency medical responder and I’m a senior in high school
Sadly no AP
Nvm figured it out 👍🏽
I'm a rising sophomore, and am about to start my IB Diploma Programme. Would you recommend that I also partake in AP courses during the programme, or that I focus on the IB and my extracurriculars. I am planning on applying to US schools and am strong in academics, but have never taken an AP class, only taking the IGCSEs so far. My school does not provide AP support, so all of my preparation would have to be in the form of self-study. FYI, I am taking HL Math AA, HL Physics, HL History, and SL English A, SL Portuguese A and SL Chemistry. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.
In my opinion I think you should do some online AP courses and do the rest in person like your main subjects and extracurricular and electives
do colleges actually care if I take ap classes or not?
College don’t care they only care for transcripts and other stuff like test scores and how you did
okok thank you and also on the transcript will they notice if you chose to take less challenging classes for easier grades?
No it just tell them the classes you took
okay thanks!
yoo portugese so posh
I’m prepared cause I’m taking English 4 FPFA NJROTC 4 American gov and Econ intro culinary arts And emergency medical responder
Does this apply for any type of course selection?
Yes they absolutely do
Not sure what you were being told but
AP classes show rigor
Colleges want to see that you're taking challenging classes
They'd rather see a B in an AP/honors class than an A in the easier version of that class
Whats AP
Same here
Advanced Placement
Like higher higher level?
oh okay makes sense thank youu
Does universities care if you took the IB programs ? What if you got a great mark but someone else in an IB program got a similar mark or even less? Is there a chance they have a higher chance of enrolling than me as a regular no-program student just because they are in an IB program despite the idea that their marks are lower than mine?
@hearty tapir Everybody has the equality of opportunity, but not the equality of hard work. As long as you focus on doing you’re best in everything, then colleges will automatically want you. So to answer your question, no, because colleges also look at AP courses for rigor, and they are similar in rigor to IB
Tysm !! this helped a lot !! And wdym by rigor tho?
How hard the class is
Are there Ap classes for IB program students ? Wouldn't the AP classes be extreme then?
It’s not like that
Im going into 9th, this is just info I’ve heard
I know only that AP and IB are similar in rigor
Oh ! Tyy thoo!! The info really helped
Samee !! I heard usually grade 9 doesn't allow us for IB even if we pass the test, we will take it in 10 and forward only! Did you do the test?
For us, there is no test and I did not choose to do the IB Program
For us, it’s just a random lottery, and if you’re chosen, you’re chosen to do IB
Oh! Here, they require a test to get into IB program
Imagine someone who doesn't wanna do IB gets to do it 😭
It’s not based on your skill or anything, it’s just randomly chosen
You have to register for it though
That is really interesting since I guess here, not everyone is interested so the ones who are take the test first so make sure they're smart enough (I guess) to take the program !
Ahh that makes sense now!
Can anyone give me like a roadmap or explain on how to become an Astro physicist?
Google will probably help you more than most ppl here
The short answer is by getting an astrophysics/physics degree. The details will depend on your goals.
Do you guys think taking ap lang as a senior is necessarily “bad” when most students at my school who got accepted to unis like john hopkins or cornell took ap lit instead?
They don’t care cause most people don’t summit them
taking/not taking AP Lit/Lang will play virtually no difference in your college admission
take the class you feel you'll do the best with/you want to do
I’m not talking about AP scores
They absolutely do care if you take the AP class
Is com sci a or principles easier
Imo CSP was just a little bit easier than CSA
But I also found CSA more interesting than CSP
CSA is more like into depth coding
hi im taking both geometry honors and algebra 2 honors my freshman year do you think this will be hard for me?
…
You’re taking two math classes
It’ll be harder than normal
But only you can decide if it’ll be hard for you
Proofs are a big part yes
do any of yall know if ap lang is hard
it's not the easiest but definitely easier than ap lit
i dont get what you mean by taking the class and not signing up for dual enrollment
Maybe it’s not an option at your school but at least for me. I signed up to take a dual enrollment class, but I only took the class, I never signed up to receive the credit for dual enrollment
oh
i think at our school we can take dual enrollment for the credit and not for the credit
That required creating an account with my local community college and singing up for their class
And it’s not something my parents wanted to do nor pay for
So that’s always an option
It still shows good course rigor taking a dual enrollment class
Even if you don’t receive the college credit
thanks for the info
that was good to know
for us
1 community college course is like 100 ish dollars
but the book and materials are given by the school
How does your school let you take two different math classes in one year ?
We still have to pay money for no credit
Lucky
Mine is 500
Per course
Ah that’s unfortunate
What pe should I take in freshman year
I suck at it so I want the class with the most theoritical stuff
Probably do like a sport or JROTC
How does one suck at pe
At least in my school you just gotta get dressed and you get an A
bruh i hate doing the stuff we do in that class
its not about grades
its about the stuff we do there :(
if ur school has it takr jrotc
it's supposed to be physical but you rarely do physical stuff
how often
especially if you have a jrotc instuctor like mine who forgets about the physical stuff a lot
like once a week
ok
maybe less
what do we do in that class
but i also have block scheduling so i only have the class twice a week
I figure in freshman PE u would also have to take some form of nutrition or health class alongside it
At least, that’s what I figure my school does
Anyway, good luck…I hate PE too
thanks
Np
does it matter?
then dont take football
ok
wat options do u have
ngl first 3 all sound the same
if you really want to yeah
whats the difference?
idk
what would you take instead though if u took it over the summer
yeah take that then
bc usually people only take pe to get ahead
or get an elective in if they go to a special school or smth
is there something wrong with taking Computer Science 1 tho?
because there isnt much i can take in freshman
if its the highest you can go then no
im also taking CSP
yeah
then you're fine
alr thanks buddy
My schedule for junior year:
APUSH
AP lang
Chem H( taking a chem college class during summer so I can skip Chem and go to AP CHEM or AP bio)
Pre calc H( chance of it being AP Pre calc)
Art 2 studio art( I'm taking this so I can AP studio art my senior year cause colleges love creativity)
Principles of biomedical science
AP physics A
Orchestra ( I NEED TO FUCKING LEARN THE VIOLIN FAST SO I CAN AUDITION)
Now I want to learn medical, engineering, law but I plan to do engineering should I drop bio med for an engineering class?
My electives in my freshman and sophomore year are all spread out across diff fields like law/order, IT, financial accounting
I just wanted to learn multiple fields and see what I liked but I don't think colleges will like this. I hears they want kids with a hard focus
you have subjects for PE?
we just have PE
and do basically nothing in that class
its a free block essentially
Bruh
^^
is there some sort of high school class for guitar players
To actually learn all three fields will take over a decade. Right now, focus on exploring what seems most interesting to you. Universities aren't expecting you to have everything figured out.
hmm ok. but i thought ivy league and t20 school only want kids who have intrests in a certain thing or so
i want to get into princeton
Bros going multi directional
It's fine to have a primary interest, but schools want well-rounded individuals.
Just become a medical law engineer
idk why but there is so much cool stuff in the world and i want to learn it all
fight for people in court while diagnosing your client and making cool new robots for them
True doe
I felt the same way
It's not impossible. You can get an engineering degree then enroll in a combined JD-MD program.
lmfao, but there could be a time where i have to Defend Griffith, perform brain surgery, and built a weapon of mass destruction for the united states military
lmao
That's crazy nah
hmm well imma try to make a career of enginnering maybe in 10ish years learn medicals
and when im older go learn law
isnt there bio engineering?
btw yall know who Griffith is right?
yes
bro what
you will fail tbh
yeah but im focused enginnering space
hold up i got something for this
GG you win
If you've got the resources, go for it. I wish I could. Just keep it mind it will take a lot of time, effort, and money.
yep or idk, maybe im overcomplicating things
I mean
I mean if your more engineering focused then probably researching abt medical equipment? There is a like term to this I forgot
hmm understand, idk im saying so much, and i feel a bit less intrested in law than i did sophomore year oh well
That's just curiousity?
but in the end I thought about the job benefits
that shit killed the cat in your pfp
💀
I wanna major in C.S. so I can sit on my ass at home all day
You've got several years to figure out. You might end up not being interested in law (or any of those fields) when you get more exposure.
Lol
my main goal is not a job after college, but under a prestiougs university with lots of resources make an impact in the world, that improves people's lives
med school is cool but
thank you
I'd have trouble paying for normal college
Same but I don't understand a speck of it and my brother has done it and just works 6 hr and then just chills in home
like med school gives you mountains of debt
depends on scholarship as well
yeah im not even gonna care abt tution, cause i feel so sure if i get accepted to ivy league im getting almost a full ride
blud is manifesting
What you age be?
Damn blud you are way young
it's 90% my ego
bro i keep imagining in my head opening my results and seeing congrats you got accpeted. i need to understand i should go into this with the mentality of being rejected by every single reach college i apply to
It's great to dream big but also plan of that doesn't happen. It's pretty much a lottery at those schools.
yeah
oh wow. well thank you for amazing advice
Basically its like finding a needle in a stack of hay
aye if this fails you can still become a standup comedian
lol
my parents expected a nuclear scientist
And I didn't do shit
I am in 11th so it's young still
nice
Am just pursue the research of mechanical engineering
And get 3-4 work experience
And do my master's for nanotechnology or robotics
there are a lot of cool majors I want
but that "work from home" thing is keeping me in check
man, you know my asian parents never taught me the violin at 4, never made me learn calc, 10, or try to push me to get into ivy, they expected the best i can do. (mainly A's), my dad thinks my dream of going to Princeton is stupid, but i kinda wish i had the sterotypical asian parents cause they invest so much into making sure their child gets accepted
yea well
my dad wants me to be a millionare
my mom encourages me so much
💀
that's how I have my stupid gloaty ego thingmajig
💀

Do you want to be a nuclear physicist or nuclear engineer?
nah
I mean
I. Haven't looked at what they do and shit
Yeah the name is good yeah I like nuclear shit
ik for a fact imma make my kid learn sports, music, and another language before they hit middle school, but unlike most brown parents imma make them have a social life
my parents are semi-stereotypical. I did actually start learning piano and ballet and swimming at 4 though 💀
almost drowned on my first swimming lesson
damn I am dumb as hell then
idk how I remember that but yea
No swiming no music no shit
Just learn language for studying
English is my third language
whenever I hear nuclear my kindergarten brain turns on
My parents are also semi stereotypical but on the opposite side. Get food grades
all the fart jokes
What?
food grades .-.
Or maybe will it put us out of orbit by like 2 inches
GOOD
omg that's funny
that's my 1st grade brain though
Or it will harm the core?
like nuclear farts 💀
Oh wow
yea
💀
The us army is def gonna call you after college
bro in kindergarten
if you even say the words "black" or "white"
we literally reported each other to the teacher
nah we used to Separate the blacks and fat and the disabled
omg we used to fat shame so much in kindergarten
mostly the fats
omg bro
Not the kind like that one guy who eats like a elephant
bro
2 of the class clowns at my school
are overweight 😭
I feel guilty for even saying that
bro I'm literally so underweight
it might be genetics too but prob not
honestly my friend can't even finish a normal burger and she's average 😭 I can finish a burger and a quarter
my mom is so racist 💀
Forgive others and Study hard topics with friends
Everyone is racist
Racist is inversely proportional to popularity
no but she's actually like racist racist
I kinda am but in the way in which I joke about my friends' races
what like chiming cong
Monkey?
nah ching chong is what I say about myself
Banana enjoyer
kinda
tree climber
kinda
wait where u from
the U.S.
because asian parents are fr racist 💀 😭
no bro same
depends
some asians r too laid back and dont care
and some is what u say
yeah they look at culture and general trends and make that the norm of an entire race, where i get where they are coming from
i don't think it is genunley correct
Is com sci a or principles a lower level?? Which class shouldn’t I take if I don’t have com sci experience
principles
Oh Ty
you should take CSP but you dont necessarily need much experience for CSA
just learn a bit of python or something
Hello
hi
does com sci teach you the basics as well?
im going to honors algebra for 8th grade (high school course; equivalent to algebra 1 i think?), does anyone know if itll be difficult
if you really want you can self study geometry in the summer after ur 8th grade
my school requires geomatry
what
im so pissed in my 6th grade there was a test where you could take to skip pre algebra/advanced math 7th grade and go to algebra 1 my 7th grade
i never got my results back
but i wish i spoke to my consuler
im so retarted
same
I mean but I was already in advanced math
it was the same with me for advanced advanced math
😭
man i knew people who did that.... i wish i did that too😭
Wdym by this? They both teach you I think but principles is easier and teaches you the fundamentals
if your school offers it js take geo over the summer
very few
go harder sence Com sci, would teach you more
same 😭😭. now i’m taking geometry over the summer to freshman but it’s wayy too accelerated
like 1 1/2 week worth of work in one day
each semester is 11 days long
how do you do summer classes?
apply online
see if your school offers them
my school doesn’t sadly
better then doing a full year of geoemtry trust me on that that class way to HARD
my school doesn’t offer an computer science classes, does anyone know of any courses that i can take/buy online that’ll teach me an easy to learn coding language like java from scratch.
look on coursera
its called doubling up and basically if you get like a 97 test avg in alg acc (honors) u can get reccomended for both alg 2 honors and geo honors
same
rlly?!
wdym same huh! i DIDNT GET IN, I WISH I WAS IN YOUR SITUATION SO I COULD TAKE MORE MATH
granted some of my friends i woudn't have BUT STILL
I COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER
IM GONNA MAKE MY KID LEARN CALCULAS IN MIDDLE SCHOOL
anyway
im so mad that i didnt take spanish in my middle school years so i could have been ahead in highschool🥲
does your district not have summer school? or like a local college
SAME LMAOO AIME AND IMO CHAMP 🥹
it does and i have local colleges but i can't do anything about it
really? not even ss rising freshman
what i plan on doing is skipping AB and go straight to BC
cause it does both topics
my school doesn’t make you take AB 💀
rn my pathway is, algebra 2 in 9th, pre calc, AP Calc, multi variable calc or AP stats
I have two frees a day next year, are there any senior courses you would recommend a junior try to take?
I doing NJROTC 4 English 4 American gov and Econ and then intro culinary arts and emergency medical responder
Spanish is a relatively easy class to test out of so don’t give up hope just yet!
ok, ty!
I so relate, just talk to people at school, I skipped a year and that is rare where I go, especially for non-native speakers
Hey, wanted to ask if my schedule for my first semester of college is any good? Any tips on changing it if it’s bad?
It’s for engineering
Planning to go for aerospace
as a high school student
your schedule looks like
very light load
heavy load
very light load
very heavy load
....................................
so you would have
. extreme amount of free time
little free time
Schedule goes vertical not horizontal
extreme amount of ree time

let me try again
Lol no problem
light load
semi-heavy load
-heavy load
semi-heavy load
light load
.................................
so
heavy amount of free time
marginal amount of free time
semi-little free time
marginal amount of free tie
heavy amount of free time
........................................
GIVEN THIS
alr im getting to it
it like a pyramid
it gets harder and harder to the top
and goes down
Indeed, I tried to make my Monday and Friday easier
the problem with this is, if you get behind on wednesday, then thursday won't give you enough free time, now understandbly you have the next couple of days, but you don't know how flexible your professoers are with deadlines
and wednesday does not look like it has easy classes
so what my point is
dump the easiest class
after or before wednesday
somewhere else
so you have more time
and
this is for me next yr
its not too much of a load on your other weekday
how many credits is that?
17
holy
It’s the recommended amount to graduate on time
u might wanna lay back on ur 1st semester of college especially since u dont know what the demands r for the college
Hmm true
is that the req to be considered "full time"
hold up you can take summer classes though
and ease load off of certain semesters
Hmm true, but that’s more debt that I’m already having trouble thinking about
btw is my suggestion retarted? i have no right to speak on your schedule considering im in highschool
Nah it’s fair
uhh can't you still apply to scholarships in college?
for me it was 757
for two classes
