nah nah
thats j how many there are on the list
i was pointing out
is that a good amt for the uni im aiming for?
such as?
Why ut Dallas
So what
reach would be ut austin
idk bro i like it
how tho...
what do i fix
yh i know that silly
but like its what works best for me
ig thats what ur sayin?
how do you know exactly how many u need?
More college on list?.
ut dallas and ut austin
Only 2?.
yh
they closeby
i dont understand man
ok so what changes should be made
college? we planning that far ahead?
well theres this
collin college
Sup yall
the ones that are not ap make them honors
i would if they were available
damn
bro a free .5 gpa bump is not a fucking waste
yeah this buger guy is confusing the hell outta me
it is the majority and sorry @peak fiber but you do not strike me as a d1 national olympic level athlete nor do i speculate your father can donate a building
also @peak fiber ut dallas has an accpetance rate of 70% so it should be easy
thats what im sayinnn
yh
and so the topics covered with your on level
will naturally be on par or close to the ap curriculm
thats what happened with me and ap world, the kids who took normal world history got throught the exact history as i did
all i did was take a test
on it
yes it is
academcis
are very fing important
your gpa shows your resolve under advanced courses
isnt that the point of school lmaoo
this is gonna be extreme but take the most challenging classes in every single subject and if you ever feel it is too hard you can drop it easily
but you can't turn back time
thats what i sufffer so fucking hard
ok if it isnt then would you stop responding in short sentences and further elaborate on your thoughts
bro wtf you think im doin
or was doing
man im going back to playing fortnite
bruhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
lmao
but its better than regretting not taking it
yeah i understand i just don't want anyone else to through that same regret like i am
bro wtf
im trying
yes
this summer
i plan to do chemistry 1 so i can do ap chem as a junior
i may also do astronomy
cause i love space
what about you have you found any medical internships @cinder gorge
next year ap pre calc
uhh had to go throgh geomtry and algebra 2
i can imagine lol
yea but ap chem is hardest class, and just thinking about it makes me hard
but ap chem is standerized
Princeton
Harvard
Stanford
ap chem
hmm
shit your right
im stressing the fuck out here
but boy would i love to got the prestigous university
but ayy you got some smart shit on you
borger
@cinder gorge i just realized imdoing hs summer school
so pf is a class that is need to graduate from my state
i found out i can take it as a sumer class
personal finance'\
yeah
and it does not have to take up my semester
wym
oh
ok
what?
hmm
ok imma do summer classes
though
hmm i got you
i got you
this summer finna be a grindddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd
I like it
I have a question regarding my schedule for my junior year
Should I take honors English instead of a science. Not doing science that year but gaining an extra honors class (I'd take 2 science classes the following year)
(And in this scenario I'd be taking 2 English classes 1 AP and 1 honors)
Or take science junior year therefore taking science every year and having an extra (can't be AP) class the following year but miss out on the extra honors class
bro does not have anything better to do with his life
It isn’t
You’re mom and your mom is not the same thing
Your mom is your mother and you’re mom means you are a mom
Ok I am worried. At most I can achieve 4 ap classes by the end of senior year. 1 junior year and 3 senior. I am incredibly worried about my sophomore year grades as not only were they garbage but might disqualify me from taking an my 1 ap class junior year. Do colleges consider that your taking as many Ap classes senior year and grades junior year when sophomore year is lacking?
Is taking 3 ap or trying to senior year worth the effort for admissions.
My school doesnt offer that many per year
unless I take 2 sciences which heck no
Uh for junior year they have Ap Chem, Ap physics 1, Ap Lit, calc AB, Comp sci, Us History, Us gov and politics
they dont let student take so many of these in the same year, I cant do AP physcis 1 and Ap chem.
I also cant do Us History and Us Gov and politics at the same time
Sophomore year they only offer 1 and thats Ap World
also at my level I can only take Ap Lit junior year
but im planning on trying again for Ap physics 1 SENIOR YEAR
and also Comp gov
i remember in gohar's cideo he once said if there is any restriction you can just ask the consuler to make an exception for you
How many aps have you taken?
I might take AP English Literature and Composition
At my school I need approval from a lot of people and need to back it up with reason that I will do well in that class despite my performance being so low.
I don’t know if I should be making promises I might not be able to fulfill
then fulfill them
sometimes you gotta make decisons
likebthat

i just realized i could do this emoki
If I’m applying as a comp sci major, do I need to take a comp sci class at my school if I already have projects I can use for my application?
no, but it would be good to take a comp sci class like apcsa apcsp or dual enrollment
You don't have to, but as theescholar said, classes like APCSA can help you skip intro CS classes in college and will show AOs that you're more committed to CS
but it's not a requirement by any means. If you already have a project like an app or website or something, you can just put that down
over the summer im taking a semester course, so ive freed up a semester class. does anyone have any recommendations for CE classes i could take. Im a rising sophmore and I plan on becoming a nurse.
sophmore/10th grade in the us
dual enrollment? or what are you talking abt lol
ya dual/concurrent
it can be a regular highschool class too
but my school offers ce classes that are semester long
take a biology or chemistry
class
Guys this might be a dumb question but what are college credits even for…
no way you said that
the legendary almighty PECAN asked a question?1!1?1
you’re the one literally telling people to google
k im already taking bio so i can add chem
college credits r so you don’t have to take that course in college, i.e. if i get credits for ap phys c i don’t have to take an elementary physics course at college
Hey i never said I can’t be a hypocrite lol
yeah pretty much
and can skip to other courses
Oh okay funsies
hypocrit is not good
fyi
🙄
do what you preach
Hey i still give advice to people
But then i tell them to google
So yk im not being a super hypocrite
oky give me advice
uh
lemme think of a question
bro
i can’t think of anything
oh
omg i got it
what is harvard
also u applying out of the us 🤨 where
A collection of rich entitled and try hard children
Just to McGill and Peking uní
interesting considering you got your life set up to apply in the us 😭
I was gonna do oxford but that’s too much of a paaaain
oxford is fun
I mean fair but it would be fun to collect admissions
Like pokemon cards
imma apply to my community college fr
that’s what i was planning to do 💀
like
no way i’m attending brown
but imma still apply there
Collect rejection letters then lol
they have a bad business program
nah nah nah
only acceptances for me
actually wait
no
i am gonna get rejected everywhere
🤩🤩
oh yeah
i’m starting another business i think
Do you guys think this is a manageable course list?
0 period - choir
1 period - honours english
2 period - algebra 1
3 period - geometry
4 period - biology
5 period - world history
6 period - Chinese or ASL (haven't decided)
7 period - study hall
Plus being apart of clubs everyday of the week and 2-3 sports
Damn solid for freshman year
good luck
goodluckkk
for freshmen I would do alg 2 but idk
also algebra and geometry
?
What was your math last year
^^^
Hold up
ok
when do yall americans do pre-alg
Pb bc they go to a school similar to mine where ppl could have taken algebra in middle school and skipped to geometry but they transferred there at the beginning of freshman year and didn’t have a chance
As a New England kid, “pre-algebra” isn’t explicitly called that
wait ur from the UK
More “Math 8” and “math 7” are combos of different subjects
New England is in the us lmao
lmao
i did pre alg in like 6th or 7th or 8th... ion remember
I see
ye
I could've skipped to geometry in 8th grade and to honors math 3 in 9th
I just didn't know who to ask
I'm taking pre alg currently
Alg 1 and geo are required before doing alg 2
Is it too rigorous you think?
oh I see
What was your courses last year and was it hard
Nah
Since covid we have been doing elementary shit
But I have all summer to advance plus English is already my strong suit
I'm just worried I won't have any free time
hm
do you plan to do alg 1 in the summer

Teachers won't let me
Cuz I've always struggled in math, they don't think I'm capable to do it. When I've actually improved exponentially just in the past 5 months
6th/7th grade but that was the most irrelevant class and I skipped it 1 week in
Hello guys, kinda sad right now. My GPA is 3.906 Weighted and its end of my sophomore year. Is there any chance i could boost my GPA to a 4?
Where I live there's a program to take extra classes to boost ur GPS it depends what state u live in
Summer schools?
No I took classes online and it took me 1 month per class and I took it while i was taking my regular classes
website?
Flvs
But it's only for Florida residents
But u can check to see if they do other states
Any chances in Ohio?
I don't know I was told only florida residents could sign up and take classes but you can call them and see if they have something for out of state
alright Thanks a lot
No problem good luck
How many am i suppose to get to get to 4 GPA if i want to take all Honors
The Cost of it is: 1020.00????
I am broke
For flvs?
yep
I took like 8 classes and it was all free
WHATT
Are you sure your on the right website
What did you pick of here
Yeah that's the right website
Did you pick Flex?
Yeah
I don't know about paying ask your school counselor and maybe there's some sort of waiver
Global school probably costs money
And if you’re outside of Florida it will ask you for money
Also I’d recommend taking community college courses instead if u can
most americans do it during 8th
Nnah
nyes
this is because in freshman theydo algebra 1 then geo, then algebra 2 then senior year they pre calc
typical american
Hi
For me it math essentials math foundation or Algebra 1 or geometry then algebra 2 or Pre calculus honors then AP calculus AB and BC
They offer algebra 1 foundations and algebra foundations 2
Is this good for sophomore year?
AP Physics 2
AP Stats or 2 semester electives
Percussion Techniques
Investing/Woods
AP Calc AB
AP CSA
Spanish 3
AP Lang
My school doesn't offer language honors, and I'm debating if I should do AP Stats or two semester electives. What do you think?
Can you elaborate?
I need 28 credits to graduate hs and I want to go to a top school like MIT for engineering. It says I need 26+ courses for MIT
27 credits for cc
Only one I know is Ap stats counts as STAT 1040
Other ones don't count
I did
Your schedule looks great, albeit pretty demanding. I think you should pick the sem electives only if you have a specific passion you want to display to the AO (assuming that that is your intention when asking this question)
Ex: you love music, then maybe a music elective would be better
Despite what borger says, your hs schedule doesn’t need to give college credit if you don’t want it to
im doing my subject selections for year 9 🥲
so would~
1st engineering
2nd Computing Technology
3rd Tech & Design
4th Marine and Aquaculture Technology
be a good choice?
Interesting. I think these are good choices if you're into STEM!
OMG YOURE APPLYING TOO
it's my target uni and only uni i'm applying to 💀
YEAH
I’m actually touring in like 6 days
Literally going to Canada just to tour lmao
YESSSSS
ohhh that’s so cool
Ok ok what’s your opinion of UoT
because I could tour it but idk
it's unnecessarily difficult 💀
like
- it's in toronto which sounds good but is actually horrific
- students who want to attend med school or any grad school later on avoid it because they drop your grades so much
oh shit really? Good to know then
it's basically impossible to get into med school if you're a good student at uoft, you have to be like top 5 to get in
and a lot of them like
they self die
😬
Yeah okay maybe not
yeah don't go there 😭
McGIll still drops your grades but it's an amazing culture there and it's not dropped that much
and also montreal is a very student-friendly city, mainly english speaking in mcgill's surrounding area and rent prices are extremely low compared to other major cities in canada
consider uoft only if you plan on going to undergrad and stopping there
@cinder gorge is a troll
Everybody inflates grades
Bro came in just to do that to him
Now listen @cinder gorge this man is disrespecting you on a whole another level
And I for one
Could not
See myself
Letting that slide
So how you going to let this mf with nerd emoji do you like that
.
Come on @cinder gorge he just toying with you at this point
idiot @worn sable
i'm an 8th grader
i dont have anger issues like you high schoolers
Ok
@proven totem is a troll
Look at your pfp
Who's Steve O?
Offtopic
you can cuss?
ok
I can say "fuck that" but I shouldnt say "fuck you"
??
Shouldnt*
yes
Anyways, both of you behave or 4 hour mute for both of you
no please
no one knows what you look like lol
Don't play the race card
me too
Are they muted?
No one is muted yet
no lets talk about my next year courses
Fr
wait my high school says that AP psych course is from grade 11-12 can i request it in grade 10
He probly means legally cus his age
Yeah probly
what if i take it next year
i heard its pretty easy
im not legally allowed to work-- first because of my age as im yet to turn 14 and second because im not an US citizen
I haven’t taken it but psych usually is
I still don't have a green card yet
you don’t need to
I'm on H4 visa, dependant
its True but get cash in hand
Same
I thought you needed authorization before you could work
yeah you do
Unless it’s under the counter of course
Not if you get money in hand
that message wasnt intended for you
But thats kinda illegal but you could get through it
Yeah
I am already dead from thinking
cornball 🤦♂️
Ok guys i need help
what help do u need
is there any accredited high school course for free in ohio?
or atleast prices that are affordable
u live in ohio?
Yea
i can tell
For sure
no
come on guys how bored ya'll have to be to be arguing on discord
What is h4?
search it up
No
Is intro to culinary arts a good high school elective
Bros gaslighting himself 😭
9th grade yea
If you wanna go into culinary arts even better
Yea but if cooking is something he loves
Wouldn’t it be good to showcase that off through a course
Plus they’re easy classes he can do other class work in
Was giving the benefit of the doubt
I mean I did say If did I not
?
You’re not even explaining how I’m wrong
What class should I take sophomore year
I’m asking you to explain how it’s wrong
Depends
Boutta take culinary arts
You didn’t
You just took my statement as an Absolute
And ignored the condition I put on it
Yeah if in your common app essay cooking is something important for you taking a class on it can be a good gateway into something more outstanding but if you just take it to take it then it looks bad
If I was speaking in absolutes then I would be assuming but since I’m not
That doesn’t apply
Yes I don’t speak in absolutes because everyone is different
“Don’t give advice on a specific class unless that class is a great class for everyone”
Like I’m not attempting to Gimp the guy’s course selection I essentially just told him to do it if he can make something out of it
Which isn’t hurtful advice
Sorta implied but alr
It is
Although worded different saying to take a class because you care for versus you can make something noticeable from it go hand in hand
At worst my initial statement just lacked elaboration
guys what are your opinions on a counsellor?
are they helpful, like do they provide you support and are able to guide you well?
or is it just a waste of money?
im asking about both school and external counsellor
just need some opinions before deciding
college counseling is kinda scammy
if you're going to get paid college counseling, make sure its from a VERY reputable source
and either way, your paying tens of thousands of dollars for someone to tell you to basically have a good gpa and give you EC ideas
school counselors are really 50/50
like our school counselor is really good. We have a pretty big school, so we have a whole department
Borger atp you’re the one starting the drama
💀
My honest reaction after seeing borger at the center of drama for the 90th time
Damn you guys really aren’t letting up on him
Wdym
Borger just gets attacked from all sides
Yeah okay but youre kinda public enemy no1 now lol
Is the IB diploma worth it? I have to make a decision soon for next year.
Take the most rigours classes and choose electives that you are very interested in
Also take the PSAT
eh i wound go against this argument tbh
YOU SHOULD
i'd say value your extracurricular rather than rigorous course
balance between extracurriculur and rigorous course is best
Your rigours courses are a big factor for anything
Job
College
Scholarships
I do and I understand you don't need 20 AP courses to make a difference in the world. But opportunities to make great impacts come along with being in an advanced academic environment
It's a win
Tbh no one was attacking him besides the Kirby 💀 poor kirby didn’t deserve that
Man if you're going to try to disagree with everyone, you're going to get involved in drama
like if someone gives advice to someone, you don't have to critique their advice
unless its something horrible
this is discord, calm down ☠️
Fr that’s exactly what I was thinking
What happened
Yeah drug deal
Borger being at the center of (drama) attention for the 19th time, eventually led to this.
Why would I submit a ticket
I ain’t doing allat
I love drama
Borger is blunt and sometimes wrong but sometimes he got some good stuff
It’s wayyyyy more than his 19th 💀
Wait actually? I only just noticed the other day that he starts drama
Yeah definitely not this is nothing new for him
Borger made some enemies
Most probably banned
do you only get one warning
i remeber i posted a video and it had andrew tate
in it
and i got warned
Science stream any here?
Yes
Me👍
Do you like one over the other?
Do you prefer coding or bio?
Oh!
Ok then you got time
Just get a good stem base
So that you don’t limit your choices later
You’ll be able to change it later if you want
Do you prefer science or tech classes
Then It
Learn coding
Probly html
It c
Good news. Borger got banned kirbo
What happened
Adding on to what loadedPistol said, figure out what interests you in CS
I'd advise against blindly going into a random topic and going deep into, figure out what interests you
is that web development? game development? app development? do you like AI or ML? What do you want to build?
and then based off of that, you could start learning some languages/tools related to whatever your interest is
No? He’s still pingable
All his messages have been deleted
oop
whats the difference between honors chem and regular chem
You usually get a little more work and has a higher gpa weight🤷♀️
if you’re asking about curriculum its obviously dependent on your school
but it’s probably going to be harder
Class rigor and higher gpa
In reality honors Chem is just normal chem but sped up
And they don’t baby you?
Like you have to memorize formulas and what not
What are the areas of the biggest improvement for the external counsellors?
What are the areas where the school counsellors are most useful?
What are the areas of the biggest improvement for the school counsellors?
my school's curriculum is all honors courses, no standard classes, but my gpa is a 3.4 right now, so im not sure if it would be different from other schools since other schools have standard classes
ohh you’re in one of those schools
3.4 W or UW?
i’m assuming UW
it would be different, but again i don’t exactly know what you’re learning
like, i’m in chem rn
my friend is in chem in a diff school
honors for both
she’s learning nuclear chemistry
we never did that
so it really all depends
unweighted means without weight
a 3.4 weighted with all honors means a low u weighted
very low in comparison to top colleges
but 3.4 unweighted means you have a higher weighted
so it’s better
but a 3.4 is still low
i know, in my school its very hard to get a good gpa bc the tests are so hard
what percentile are you in at your school
im not sure but maybe top 35%
since you’re a private school what’s your matriculation rate to t20’s? i’m assuming that’s where you want to go
im not sure but maybe top 35%
girl didn’t you just say that 😭
Should you self-study any APs as a ninth grader?
discord is lagging
im self studying ap bio and ap wh
discord is lagging
discord is lagging
No low response delay
?
My school offers both
Discord is currently under severe issues in relation to their API and servers, please be patient while it’s being fixed.
@fickle pulsar
im not in a private school, im in a selective public school in nyc
not sure what matriculation rates are
could you find out/estimate
it’s to see if your percentile roughly aligns with matriculation
bcs i’m assuming your matriculation is higher than average
and not just 2 or 3 people per year
whats matriculation?
for our purposes, the rate of people form your school going to t20s
its different every year, but 2022 was about 6 people
wait no
8 ppl
even tho the others were not t20, it was still within t100
mm okok
that makes it kinda rough
honestly gpa is your top priority rn then
My state requires 2 credits of foreign language for graduation, however I already speak Hindi so I can test out of it. Is it worth taking Spanish/French?
It will drag my GPA down
Since it will be a regular class
Take hindi
Ok here's my senior schedule plan
Graphic design capstone: 2
AP Stats: 1
AP Lit: 1
Leadership: 1
Orchestra: 0.5
AP Gov: 0.5
Random AP course: 1
Is there anything I might need to change? My goal is making my weighted gpa as high as I can
I would say that if you are going to do anything in the realm of Math for college / career I would not take AP stats. The class is notoriously easy and does not help you too much. I would take either Calc AB or Calc BC ( depending on what level you are at now )
I'm doing pre calc this year so it depends on if i like pre calc or not
If I like it then it'll be calc ab/bc but if not then stats
The chances of there being hindi are little to none
Cool
That sounds good
That guy need credits for graduation only
Will the Hindi exam allow you to fulfill the credits?
I mean I def think Spanish or French will be useful
Also nobody cares if your gpa went down from 4.53 to 4.44
Especially if you are just doing an elective
What Hindi is a langauge
Maybe read the whole thing
Hindi is not a foreign language that is available
That’s what I said
Got it Hindi isn't official language of indiam
It’s not that hard to understand
I said hindi isn’t an available language
Ohh ok
To count for foreign language credits
Yeah
most languages of india like hindi, tamil, bengali, telugu, urdu can count for ur foreign language in my district
Damn
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that colleges (top ones) like to see you take 4 years of a specfic different language that you don't natively speak
I may be wrong
let me check
Is AP stats good as a filler? Like if you have no other math to take during the year
Foreign Language
Most Ivy Leagues require students to demonstrate proficiency in a foreign language. Students should plan to take a minimum of two and a maximum of four years of a foreign language beyond their native language. Foreign languages that Ivy Leagues prefer to see include Spanish, French, and Chinese. Other foreign language options include Latin, German, Italian, or Russian. The foreign language students can take will depend largely on the available languages at their school.
if I were you, I'd take some sort of 4 year language course (Spanish, french, etc.)
What if you’re bad at speaking the language though? You think they’ll hold that against me? I’m Hispanic and my family always speaks Spanish at my house but I’m really bad at it and b4 I took Spanish classes in school I just understood some of the words. You think they could say something along the lines of “well you’re around the language more so you’d have an easier time understanding it”?
yeah, they could 😔
Damn
Would it be a good idea to go with French? I learned it in 6th grade and it’s not as common as Spanish
I mean yeah if you want
Well I don’t have a choice then, have to do it
there's nothing wrong with spanish either
i mean you could not do it, but that would end up lowering your chances
as if top college admissions aren't a gamble anyways
any language will
but if you're going into CS, they won't really help
but if you're doing any social sciences
or humanities, itll help
Maybe communicate with clients of different origins
For that I should do Chinese tho
for what lol?
are you planning a business?
Maybe
a web dev business?
But the main reason for learning languages for CS is communicating with clients I think
alright cool. Just saying you're (probably) not going to be getting any clients from remote places. The skills there are crazy
and I don’t have work permit
of course
coding in general
English is global language and you living in usa so you don't need. Until and unless you live in Europe
we’re talking about foreign languages lol
so anyways
if you're into french go for it
but I've noticed that Spanish helps out a lot more, especially if you're planning on living and working in the USA in the future
but in the end, it's up to you
I think I’ll have to think about it and take into consideration my future plans for this
yeah ofc
foreign languages?
Everything
This high school stuff
Why are people worried that kids are gonna do drugs and not concerned about this high school stuff like competitions
But some people choose that stuff
They didn’t tell us shit about this stuff in middle school
the vast majority of people in highschool are normal, regular people who go to hs, have fun, do the occasional club, hang out with friends, and move on
if you were to combine all the kids going to T20 schools, they would be less than 5% of all the kids going to college in the USA
What do you think your chances are of getting into T20
be dead honest
I would like to go to a T20, but I'm not going to cry if I don't get in. My state school is already really good for CS and I would be more than happy going there
for CS T20s dont mean anything more than connections
what are ur chances tho
my older brother got into 2 T25s, but chose his state school
I dunno, I'm asian (indian) and going into CS so probably not that high
maybe 10%? There's no real way to know
15?
idk
u sure u not underestimating yourself?
Elips you Indian?.
Do you have citizenship?
yes
guys is it true to get a good paying cs job i need to have an a level in maths?
my race is indian
but yes, my citizenship is american
no
thank god
im not doing that good in GCSE level maths rn
i cant imagine what a level would be like
does being Indian origin lower ur chances
that's fine, you have a ton of time to improve
no college explicitly says it "lowers" your chances, but the thing is that so many asians and indians apply for CS and colleges need to keep their applicant pool diverse, so it is harder and more competitive for asians
Pretty sure most Indians are going into medical stuff but CS is probably at number two
Wtf
not surprised
yeah but if you look at basically any T25 CS college, the asian population is always close to or over 30%
i wouldn't trust an AI with my life
what if u invent it
U would trust ur own creation
Like u trust ur offspring
i’m going into my sophomore year of high school so y’all think it’s a good idea to take algebra 2 as a summer course so i can take pre calc as a sophomore?
I guess i'd trust it then, but I don't believe im going to be making that anytime in the near future
yes if u can handle it
did you already do geometry?
geo is a class you can skip over the summer if you have to
yeah this year
but algebra 2 and precalc are classes you dont want to skip
Isn’t geometry tested on SAT
things like the SAT and precalc + calc require a lot of algebra 2 knowledge so you don't want to skip the foundations
well i wouldn’t be skipping it i would just be learning it on my own over the summer
if you're good with math, do it
but if you take time to learn, I wouldn't skip it
you can still take calculus by junior/senior year
k thx for the input!
Unfortunate. Any other language recommendations besides French and German? 1. I heard French has like more verbs or something (compared to Spanish) & 2. I’m pretty sure the German AP exam is one of the hardest among the ap language exams
what languages are offered?
So I want to majoring in computer science and tryna transfer to a university what class should I pick?
what classes are offered? id recommend high math and anything computer related. STEM in general will proby help
I also wanna become an actor
How many course should I take per semester?
What should I take for my 7th class? Should I leave it for a study hall or PE or should I choose something like business or journalism which will bring my GPA down no matter what since it's a regular class
i would recommend discussing specifics with your guidance counselor but I'm pretty sure 6 classes is average. but if your taking AP then it might change that number
I'm finalizing my schedule right now for freshman year and I have one slot open and I'm debating between two classes. Intro to coding and intro to business. I want to major in physics so intro to coding seems like the no-brainer but I've already done two years of coding and when I talk to my friends who did the course I know everything they teach. It would be pointless and boring but would look good on the college app. But I could also do intro to business which although I don't want to major in would be a fun class just for the sake of it. It would be interesting to see business Concepts even though I 100% want to go into stem. Intro to coding is not a prerequisite for any other courses at my school. Should I do intro to coding and be made to do a dumb course I won't enjoy because I already know everything or should I do a course that won't help my major but will be fun?
personally id skip intro to coding. if you can get a more advanced coding class then thats probably worth it. either way you could make up for it by having an extra curricular that's STEM based.
business is lit dude do that
I'm in my local physics and astronomy club and my school doesn't offer more advanced coding
Just those 3 (Spanish, French, and German) at my school but is there another language you would recommend besides ones already offered?
Alright
im trying to learn Russian. lots of speakers around the world and helps in the global business world (also sound sick)
do business
mandarin (WAYY to hard for me) also does the same thing
Ok
Russian is actually easier than mandarin?
Would you say Russian is hard or no
Yeah, as an English speaker I find Russian tricky but I enjoy it
I think mandarin is super hard because they have a tonal language
Hm what do you enjoy about it? The challenge? The way it’s spoken?
Philosophy or honors philosophy for junior year?
once you master tones, mandarin is way easier imho
mandarin’s difficulty mainly comes from tone and how you speak it
rest is just memorization
recognizing characters, what does each characters mean, grammar, etc.
To any Australians
How difficult is

yes, especially if you're aiming for top schools/STEM major
which is a better choice for undergrad: NTU singapore or like toronto and waterloo??
Hey, is one AP class and one Honors class good enough for sophomore year, esp if I want to start a club and write for the newspaper.
In a US high school
Toronto, Waterloo
ok i see tahnks
Good for the average student, for top schools maybe take 2-3 APS
Hy wiki
Ok thanks. I would've wanted more, but the max our school can give a sophomore is 2, unless you took a couple of accelerated classes in middle school, which isn't the case for me since I just moved here.
Ok take the most challenging classes that you can for top colleges
Thnx
Btw you could always study for some classes in summer
And skip them
Ur counselor will usually give u a test for that class and if u pass u get promoted
But don't you think a school, or your counselor is bound to somewhat limit you from taking several advanced classes just bcoz you're new and they think they don't know your ability 😔
She can’t stop you if the school allows sophomores to take it. if you think you can do it go for it
That's the point, if they could just give me diagnostic tests they would've understood I can take several advanced classes. Now I end up taking regular ones and get all As which don't feel rewarding at all
Ask them for it
Ok I'll really try. Thank you very much for the insight
You’re welcome 😇
Hello, I'm wondering what class I should take after AP Government? I took APUSH freshmen year then AP Gov sophomore year. I've been having trouble deciding what to do next year.
Are DE courses usually one or two semesters?
Is intro to business a good class if I want to pursue economics as a minor?
Purse as a minor?
For me they’re one
90% sure he means a minor degree
Whats a good ap honor schedule for a junior?
Yes I know but I don't think you need to take any classes to prepare for a minor .
A PUSH, AP LANG, AP PRE CALC, AP BIO
or AP chem in place of bio
Nope
But the exam is on may
Makes no sense
To do that?
Alright thank you bro 🙏🙏
eh wouldn't hurt
but no I wouldn't really recommend CTAE classes
there's like 4 courses focused just on economics so I'd recommend taking those first
(AP/Reg Microeconomics & Macroeconomics)
Np now that's just for core classes if you like stem do AP physics
Also
Should I take the precalc exam? I heard that colleges don’t accept it as a class
is it worth taking ap macroeconimcs if i plan to be in the medical field or take regular econimcs
is there a reason you have to take macroeconomics at all?
is like taking economics a required course or something
Depends on the class but it can range from a typical course to absolute hellfire that makes no sense
course selection?
AP Human Geo is light work, not sure about comp sci
idk why you would wanna take an AP science course that deviates from Bio and Chem, colleges don't really look at it depending on where you're applying
Ap csp is easy and great for beginners to learn code
The exam is also pretty easy, just reading code
ap human geo isnt really a science course
nah i mean comp sci
human geo is lightwork, plus you already have to take it anyways
oh yeah lol
have you researched it and found it interesting?
Yes
okay then
ive heard its interesting, and its a growing field
just expensive collegewise but
🤷 if its what you want to do, go for it!
I really want to do a engineering specialized work
i would also recommend getting some sort of internship, just to see if it really is for you
If not I will just do Real estate
Will being in general Spanish for all four years (not taking AP Spanish) hurt my chances of getting into a Ivy League?
I'm not good at bio and chem
science is a nono for me
ahh welp, i would say two things
A) Bio and Chem are a lot different from middle school bio and chem, so I'm not sure if that changes your answer
I don't know if this is the right channel but how is AP Comparative Government and Politcs?
B) There are a lot more resources for the above mentioned as opposed to AP Comp Sci, which could also change your answer
What do you mean by resources?
im sorry man i honestly have no clue
like what specifically
a lot more online tutoring, youtube videos, other misc resources in those two classes
CS > science
there are also a lot more people that take AP Chem and Bio, so you could also ask others
🤷 to each his own
im taking biology honors in 9th grade unfortunately
didn't take any advanced middle school stuff for science
thats alright, colleges dont look at middle school, and California colleges dont look at freshman year ; )
should i try studying for chemistry in 9th grade so i can take ap bio in 10th grade
i mean, both of them are pretty much just memorization, rinse and repeat
so it doesn't matter which one you choose
i suck at science fairs as well and i've NEVER done research before
i prefer chem tho
okay
no research required for either
just a lot of studying
i know but i wanna learn how to do this research publications stuff
yeahh i couldnt really help you there
i transferred towards a prelaw intent so I don't do much stem anymore with the exception of Chem
because i enjoy it
…
My nicname
you can change it 💀
press the server and click on “edit server profile”
or run /nick command
anybody know any good AP biology tutors for this summer? please dm me or mention me
thanks
What looks better in application: taking as much honors and AP as possible or taking every subject for all years of high school?
If that makes sense
guys i have some major confusion
i am really interested in electrical engineering
i worked with arduino, matlab, and my parent's friends with electronic projects for like 3-4 years
so now should i take ap classes such as ap comp science?
or non-ap classes such as honors digital electronics, intro to engineering, honors aerospace, etc, because they match more with my interests
idk
idk anything about electrical engineering but if compsci is somehow related to it then take it ig
otherwise just go with the non-ap class
Will getting an B in an Ap class ruin my unweighted gpa
Bro how is this possible
??
?
yes
getting anything that is not an A will bring down your unweighted
WHAT
A- is counted as a 3.7
how do u expect an A in AP
by studying?
your weighted should be fine if you got an A- though
or unweighted
they look at both
should i take all regular classes
depends on what you can handle
nvm stupid question
you have to find a balance
what was ur balance if u dont mind sharing
like i know people taking 6+ APs, and ended up getting Bs and Cs in them screwing their GPA over
im in IB, so I take all IB level classes along with 1-2 APs per year
im able to manage the work
do u get extra boost for IB
yeah, a pretty big one
how much
wtf
unweighted ofc is 4.0
is IB easier than AP
in my opinion, no
bro
IBDP is really challenging
so ur basically taking 7 aps?
next year, yeah basically. But our school is pretty chill (it's competitive, but not SUPER competitive)
like the classes aren't hard if you just do the work and study a bit
are you valedictorian
which is good so I can pursue other extracurriculars
no idea
the cool thing about IB though is that we're automatically top 10% of our entire grade (430 students)
since our GPA is boosted
kinda sucks for the other kids though
unfair
🤷♂️
I just did IB since my older brother did it
and it's great since I met so many amazing people here
like since its only 50 people, I know everyone here
and we all have a good frienship
is it better to go to 50% asian school or 20% asian
idk I wouldn't know. My school is like 10% asian (and we're all in IB mainly)
but generally uncompetitive school means you can do better there
but also means you'll be around people who aren't "the smartest", so you could have less access to opportunities
but u will not have any friends then
i mean you might, you can make friends anywhere
nah if you go to 1% asian school they're doing drugs there
every american school basically has that
in IB, you ONLY take IB classes for the most part, so you're not in any classes with honors kids or anything
atleast that's how it works here
will IB help chances of getting ivy
and apparently the IB acceptance rate to colleges is higher
but IB isn't easy
like past two years were already pretty hard for me (lot to manage)
too late i have to go to regular school 😦
there's nothing wrong with that
i know
