There are better option than IITs in the world you should look at them. I am not saying IITs are bad but you should look at what you need smart work rather than hard work. Any college in India are similar.

I already replied
But in India
Bruh I never said IITs are the best
I said he had scope for IITs
..
Education is same in every colleges
Nope
Education depends on the content of syllabus and the environment of the learning
You brainwashed by bjp government
Goodness now wtf does this have to do with fuking bjp

World QS 2023 University Rankings are reliable.
I don’t think any college ranking list is reliable
Idk
Also I mean IIt is pretty good
It’s not the best
But if you want good stem education in India
IIT pretty good
Hi
@Gaks#9165 Hi 👋
Hi , I had a question on if you think I should retake a summer school class. Freshman year I had mostly As except for one B each semester (one in Eng honors and World History AP) and a C both semester in geometry honors . This year as a sophmore I got two Bs (both honor classes) and two Cs in first semester (Algebra 2 honors and ap physics) and am seeming to see to get another C this second semester. I’ve already dropped down from algebra 2 honors and chemistry honors to regular classes. With this trend, do you think I should retake geometry honors over the summer to replace the two Cs I got from it in freshman year? What else should I do to possibly improve my transcript?
if your school lets you do this i dont see why not
Any advice for what AP's I should take senior year? I'm currently a sophomore but already have my junior year classes picked out.
Here are the classes I've taken/are taking next year:
9th: Alg 1, College and Career/Health, PE, Spanish 1, English 1, Biology, Robotics
10th: Honors Alg 2/trig, Honors English 2, Honors Chem, Spanish 2, PE, World History, Reg Choir
11th: AP Lang, AP Chem, AP Music Theory, AP US History, Honors Pre-Calc, Reg Choir, Chamber Choir (Honors credit)
I could help if you have the subject list provided for senior year 😄
my school has almost every AP
senior year courses I'm already planning on taking: AP Lit, AP Psych, AP Stats, AP Gov, choir
i have 2 slots left for classes to take, just looking for recommendations
Have you taken geometry?
I would recommend AP economics
It’s always good to take some kind of consumer Ed class
Do macro micro or both
Also since it’s senior ur
It’s possible you don’t take a class
Or it’s possible
You take a class just for fun
Doesn’t have to be AP
i took geometry over summer school so i could take alg 2 this year
I would have to do it over the summer and its like 1000 dollars, is it really worth it to to redo to look better on my transcript?

This is my course selection I want to stay on honors and ap but I’m not sure what would be best..I have 3.4 cumulative and 3.6 is year
What colleges are you planning on going to? At least at my school a C is a passing grade, so they wouldnt let people retake it. Retake it if you want and are able to though. In my opinion, already having a couple of Cs is going to not improve your transcript very much. Try to trend your grades upwards, as you have a couple of Cs, unless not getting into a particular difficult school
You are able to retake
?
My school wont let you
Retakeing if u passed is the worst possible option to do
I don’t understand how some people can and can’t and why it is bad ?
If it’s I. The summer
I dont see any point of retaking if u passed
Ok? It doesn’t matter
Anyone can but i dont see a point for it
Different schools and money
Oh now it makes sense
Weird how it’s not standardized though
Standardized for what
Giving power to the states/counties
Retaking is literally one of the worst options
NEVER retake unless it’s absolutely necessary
Im aiming for UCs, should I still retake it?
Wait rlly, why?
No
- Ur gpa wont go up
- Ur wasting a class period on something u alr did
- Colleges will see that ur not willing to move on from ur mistakes
- Do u rlly wanna be in a class where people a yr younger is in?
If anything, its gonna be harder to raise ur gpa
U think it does?
U have another class thats making it harder (the same class)
Its literally just dead weight
Once u understand how the UC gpa system works, itll make sense
In state?
Yes in state
depends on your schools policy, a lot of colleges including uc's calculate their gpa separately because schools calculate their gpa in so many different ways
no, retaking any class doesnt replace gpa
that's on me then, i assumed if their school is letting them retake a c it'd replace their grade if that's not the case then yah def don't waste your time and money
Here it never replaces your grade. You get a R- retook and it shows both grades. But yeah different for all schools
Anyone taking the APCSA exam today, good luck!
What colleges you aiming for?
Bro, for UCs in California, you need All As
Sometimes you can get away with a couple Bs
If you have strong ECs
it depends on the UC
and you don’t need all A’s for any college lol
you need mostly A’s
there’s a difference
Harvards average Grade was literally a 4.0 at a certain year lol
a 4.0 gpa is strongly overstressed these days
no it wasn’t
Sure
that’s weighted
Just search it up
searching it up isn’t accurate
I just said “average gpa of Harvard”
There were multiple sources that said 4.18 lol
The engineering practicum at my school is all honors but the health science practicum is all standard
What should I do in this situation if I’m interested in both fields?
They are CCTE courses btw
Do both see what you like
If it’s a career class don’t worry too much about honors standard
Rigor applies to those places where there are different levels
What does this mean?
Sorry
I mean
Basically don’t care if your career course is standard
Since there was no honors medical course
They can’t say
Ong u didn’t pick honors
Now if it’s for your gpa one college prep class is not going to do anything
Not necessarily
Most of them are pretty holistic except ucla
Yeah, at this point
Whats the main difference between apcs and apcsp in terms of difficulty and prerequisites (Ive heard that apcsp is too easy and going to apcs without prior programming knowledge will be fine)
Ap csp is like general computing knowledge mostly with like one unit of coding
There’s a project
And then a multiple choice
Ap CS teaches u Java
And object oriented programming
And yes I agree
Skip csp
Is this a good high school junior schedule? I am a sophomore atm and have never taken a weighted or AP class, probably do wanna go to college after school just don’t know where. DEFINITELY want to do something with math when Im older as I love math along with History and Kinda science
-AP American Government
-Women and Gender Studies (don’t make fun of me)
-Math 4 and 5 Honors
-AP Statistics
-AP Lit and Comp
-AP Environmental
-Chemistry
-and Lifes Issues
imo, its whatever
Ok
Nah
I think it’s good
You could change out life’s issues for ECs
yah its solid,, obv depends on what your school offers but this would be a pretty solid schedule at most schools regardless,, if youve never taken a weighted or ap class before lit might be kind of tough otherwise i think all the other ap's are very manageable
AP Chem is easy tho
And AP Physics C
Right?
they didnt say theyre doing ap chem
depends on the person and your chem background i thought chem wasnt too bad but and my school doesnt offer physics c so i wouldnt know
idk
ap chem is usually considered to be a pretty hard class at most schools though, idk how ppl feel about the test
Wwww thanks (:
And I would take Ap physics but they don’t offer that. Just Physics
thats what u think
I don't know if this is the right place to ask but I want this to know if I get an associate's degree in high school a local community college will that transfer to an ivy league?
The degree would be an A.S in physics if that is important
aa can transfer but thats not whats important
colleges arnt gonna care if u have a piece of paper or not
and u need to find out what courses r gonna transfer
Would they care about the grades I got for the associates?
like what igetc classes u completed and how likely ur gonna grad from that uni
ok, now look at the pre-req for all of em
they all got like 2-3 courses as pre req
But I meet the prerequisites just by going through the normal high school schedule
but u didnt finish it yet, so u still need to go the pre req
Fair enough I guess
its the policy
I'm going to get all those courses done plus the prerequisites by the time I graduate
what about ur igetc
and what state r u in?
cuz last time i checked u can only take 11.5 units max per semester
NJ
this might be just CA tho, idk
it might be different for nj
for me, all im gonna do is my igetc cuz i aint got time to do my aa degree
ask ur councler
I will.
u got any other questions?
cali law sets it at 11 💀
its 11.5 for us
anything above 12 units is considered full time
ye
a local CC (i don't go too) lets you take as much as a normal student (like 20 or smth) if you have a letter of rec from Counselor, Principal, and PArent.
what classes should i take at cc over the summer if I want to major in either engineering or CS and what are some good CC's in california with async summer classes
where are you taking this at
Rowan College of South Jersey
Moor park college
Discrete Math
Web Dev
Intro to CS
Physics of some sort
Calc
I’m pretty sure Igetc is a California thing
it is
Yeah so why is he going around telling everyone to get their Igetcs
💀
💀
wtf is Igetcs anyway 💀
Something about courses that let you transfer
Intersegmental general education transfer curriculum
Like mostly for the UCs and stuff
sign up for the exam then
No the exam isn’t worth it
The course is
Because u get 5.0 gpa credit
But the exam isn’t
It’s 100 dollars for no college credit most likely
I've probably asked this a million times here by now but I don't know whether I should stay in honors math or not
Why do you want to leave it?
What is your idea of the future you want? Any career plans? Do you enjoy or find the subject tedious?
I didn't do too well in the first semester even though I am doing better now it is primarily because of a tutor
It's just my weakest subject and I have a fairly rigorous schedule next year
I normally get As but I got a B first semester for math
Is honors math a prerequisite or a requirement subject to take for your future career?
If not, I will support your decision to drop it.
what is it now
a B in an honors course is better than an A in an on-level course
are we talking a B-, B, B+?
and remember that you’re going to miss a bunch of AP’s later on as well- even if you need a tutor, the extra GPA boost is worth it. if you’re gunning for top colleges, they’re expecting you to take some level of AP calc.
Is it possible to comfortably study AP CSP?
Yeah
And I wanna be a lawyer, I prefer humanities subjects such as history and English in which I excel
My schools ap courses are limited so I can't do AP for calculus unless I don't do another AP that's more in my subject area
B+ but my school doesn't do + or -
Then it would just be a B if your school doesnt grade that way. A B in honors is always better than an A in a regular class
what’s your limit for ap’s
9
I am doing 2 next year, 3 junior year, and 4 senior
None rn
Next year world and seminar
Junior: lang, apush, and research
Senior: gov, lit, hug, and either bio or apes
I may go into history or subjects related to it
acc yeah take it over hug
eh idk
hug and apes are both useless
like i said most people at top colleges have taken some form of AP calc, whether it be AB or BC
uhh
wait one sec
okay
90% of students at harvard have taken ap calc AB or above
with ~63% taking BC or above
i’d strongly advise taking ap calc @covert linden
even if ur an art major… take it
i mean take it whenever you want but take it
K
Hi!
Hi!
Lol
my counselor wants me to take apush to demonstrate my humanities capabilities, but i'm worried that my workload will be too much next year if i have that class
rn my planned workload for next year is: ap cs a, physics honors (will take ap physics 1 outside), aplac, ap calc, asb, spanish 4 honors and then either us history or apush
apush is a difficult class from what i've heard
so if you think you can take the workload, go ahead
apcsa isnt too hard
im not sure the difficulty of ap lang
ap calc should be easy if you are a math person
im not too sure what is asb
i mean im gonna assume ap lang wont be that bad cuz this year in lit my teacher has literally used my essays as samples and i've gotten consistent A's on my essays
not too sure bout spanish either lol cus i never took hs spanish course
this year in precalc i think i just studied the night before a test and got around 95ish each time
ap lang is an useful ap to take
i wouldnt consider myself a math person though
then yeah take ap calc
im taking ap calc next year
alongside with ap physics
since my school doesnt offer ap lang ill prob dual enrollment ap lang lol
what is asb?
are u gonna be junior next yr?
yeah
associated student body
oh
its jut like student leadership
ah
im taking like a leadership course next year
so it shouldn't be that bad
then if that's the case, maybe apush for some difficulty
since almost all class you are taking are "easy" for you atm
but if you dont wanna stress on history
just take us history
im taking us history next year and im not taking apush
mainly due to the difficulty of the course
im not a history person lol
you're welcome 👍
proabbly dependent on what your teaccher wants you to do but ap lang usually isnt that huge of a workload
because theyre just trying to prepare you for the test which is basically just writing 40 minutes essays and doing sat like reading questions so usually there shouldnt be that much hw
and yah as previously stated, ap calc isnt too bad, once again depends on your teacher but i personally dont think the ab curriculum is very hard even for non math people
apush would probably actually be the class you spend most your time on because its not really a skills class like the other ones but if youve taken any other ap history class its about similar to those
Hi guys
I see. If you want to be a lawyer, it is good to take advanced maths...but not required to be honest. So maybe you can take off honors maths. Continue humanities subjects if that's what you like and that's technically where your planned career is sitting mostly.
i'd disagree with you on that
State your opinion why you disagree. It could help them with their choices.
I already have previously- This isn't my personal preference. If you're aiming for the top schools, it becomes a necessity. Harvard published its statistics, and according to them, 90% of students have taken AP Calc AB and above with ~63% of students finishing AP calc BC and above.
They want students who are competent everywhere, and although a "spike" is still preferred, their general level of competency is high.
I'd strongly advise taking AP Calc.
I didn't see them say they're aiming for top schools. I might've missed it.
Hey guys so I’m going to be a junior next year. Is it a good idea to take both APUSH and AP Lang at the same time?
sure, if you're not inherently bad at history or english you'll be fine
Okay , thank you so much they are both my strongest subjects I’ve just had a hard time deciding.
oh then yu'oll be fine
sorry for the late reply, but if they're taking 9 ap's, i'm sure you can guess what they're aiming for 😅
If my major is computer science and I want to go to community college which class should I take?
Data structures and algorithms
Intro to web development
Discrete mathematics
Intro to some coding language
What about calculus, English composition and other stuff?
Yeah those too
Take all core classes
I thought u were asking for specific like comp sci classes
Id recommend having an associates in math
And then transferring
Does anyone know if Qubit by Qubit is worth it?
Opinionated but this is more correlation than causation. Taking these high level math classes is more indicative of the caliber of students who get into these schools and the resources provided to them. If you’re not at this level taking ap calc ab or bc is probably not going to change that
Not to say that all ivy/t20 admits are like high caliber super humans not on the level of the other plebeians but this is more of a generalization
honestly? i’d disagree. i’m not saying it’s a causation, i’m saying it’s almost a requirement. ~90+% is an exceedingly large number. very large. i’d bet that the ~10% that don’t are international or have exceedingly difficult circumstances, with most of that 10% being international.
Hey guys, I have a question. Next year I’m going to be a junior, and I’m planning on taking at least 7 aps. For my 8th class, I’m torn between taking AcDec and Comp Sci Honors. I’m interested in competing for my schools AcDec team, but it requires me to be enrolled in a class dedicated for the competition. This class is weighted as on-level, which would bring my GPA down severely. CS honors on the other hand, wouldn’t bring my GPA down as badly. Moreover, I plan to major in CS, and if I don’t have at least 3 years of CS courses, my resume may be diminished. Would you recommend I take AcDec as an EC and bring down my GPA or take CS honors since that aligns with my potential major? For context, I went to an extremely selective STEM magnet for my freshman and sophomore year, while I am now transferring to a regular high school due to my mother’s health deteriorating. Thanks
I'd hope to, I just want to keep my options as open as possible. I may do it but I have a lot of time to decide. Also could you send me where you got that statistic?
Ok so here's the deal
I live in a rural redneck county
And the way APs work here makes it very hard for me
For example most AP classes are 2 semesters
But not exactly
AP classes like laug have an introductory semester that is required in the same year
So is there any advice on how to fit in more AP Classes
Because next year I can only fit in 2
sure
uh
lemme find it
?
i dm'd it to oyu
Thank you
Yah when you put it that way I see what you mean although I think requirement is pushing it. Although I think it’s unfair to generalize one aspect of admissions from a notoriously picky uni to other top unis but you’d probably see similar data across other top unis
Idk if I should take apush or regular ush
i think you would honestly
do you like history
are you good at it
what are you taking right now
History in general not rly but US history specifically yes (I enjoyed it in 8th grade) -- we really only had regular history options in sophomore yr so just a normal world history class rn
Im more worried about the work load tho
Like a lot of ppl have told me u don't need to read the textbook even the tchr tells u to????
i'd advise taking it, and if you think it's too much for you, you can drop to regular
That makes sense. Thx!
no prob
Adding onto what MegaSplit said, APUSH is a lot of writing, reading, and critical thinking. It's not just "memorize these dates", you'll have to write things like DBQs, essays, and much more. Just so you know!
It is a great class though. I personally haven't taken it, but my friends that did have said that it's a great class for those that are interested in history
Ya I actually like this better since the history classes for my grade are kind of split into these weird ways -- you can either take a type of combined course of history+ lit which I'm doing or do separate world lit and history classes. Usually ppl say that my class is easier becuz i guess the tchrs are less strict but rly our assessments are all just dbq, compare/contrast paragraphs, and essays rather than the other type of class that does Mcq questions like memorization
I feel like I've had a lot more practice actually doing that this yr
Yeah then you're basically set
I LOVE apush! It was my first AP history since I decided world would just not be worth all the stress and we've gone over US history like 3 different times over american schooling
I will say it requires a lot and I mean a LOT of memorization skills
Not just dates and names but how they affected society, world issues, politics, policy changes, etc.
Definitely going to need to remember stuff for specific factual evidence, but overall good class!
Lol
For us
APush is the most difficult
World is the introductory one
I see, I didn't see them say this, I just missed it for sure. Thank you anyways
mhm
But duck said apush is ez
Is physics history and logic class are necessary?
For computer science!
Physics don't help you in computer science too much
History has no relation with computer science
What about logic?
Are you a computer science student?
No
All right cool!
Nope
It’s one of the harder ap exams
Well like for me I used to think it was easy
That’s before I looked at it
And then saw how difficult it was
There’s people who just took it yesterday
U should ask them about how “ez” it was
Those are good courses to do
Physics is not completely related with computer science
But the processes and applied math it takes in physics can help with math problem solving
And you have to take history
Many colleges do have humanities or communication requirements
Also history’s cool
It’s like a fun elective
A break from all your earlier classes
You don’t have to take history if you’ve done the ap history exams and gotten a passing score
Is it possible to take AP Physics 2 when only getting a 3 on AP Physics 1
I wanna be a scientist moreover a physicists and I have an extra slot on my schedule. So I was wondering if I should use that extra slot of apes or ap bio? Can anyone like suggest what would be more useful?
From what I read, AP Bio is more relevant to your future career. AP Es focuses more on impact to the environment caused by human activities and managing natural resources. AP Bio is more related to physics because both branches focus on studying the law of nature.
u can and u can be successful with it if you put dedication and a lot of effort to be successful on this
Can you tell me which class I shouldn't take?
I don’t think there is a class you shouldn’t take
Just be sure to focus on your major focused classes
And continue to take some humanities and communications like English or history
Hey guys, I have a question. Next year I’m going to be a junior, and I’m planning on taking 7 aps. For context, I went to an extremely selective STEM magnet for my freshman and sophomore year, while I am now transferring to a regular high school due to personal reasons. Thanks
it sounds like you want to do cs honors more and youve rationalized more benefits to it. if youre taking 7 aps this year i dont think gpa will be a huge concern as depending on your schools scale it wont make a huge difference, also colleges tend to recalculate gpa anyway and depending on their policy honors classes may not be counted so it's possible it actually makes 0 impact to your gpa.
i do think it's favorable to take classes that align with your future goals but id say just choose whichever one you enjoy more
colleges usually recalculate your GPA, but you transferring to a worse school would raise some questions. what other computer science classes have you taken?
i also think that's a good question, what is cs honors? as a junior shouldnt you have already taken like ap csa or ap cs principles?
No some schools do this thing called advanced topics in cs honors
Which is an honors cs class
But it’s like stuff after csa and csp
oh i see that makes sense now
I’ve only taken AP CSP since my old school put us in certain “tracks” with no course flexibility.
However, my new school requires the prerequisite of cs honors before taking AP CSA, which is why i was thinking of taking cs honors. For context, my old school would’ve allowed me to take AP CSA next year rather than cs honors
I see more tangible benefits with taking cs honors but I was wondering if AcDec would look better on my resume
For us cs honors is a prerequisite to AP CSA
All courses count towards our GPA, with the weighting hierarchy being on-level, honors, and AP, in order from lowest weight to highest.
out of curiousity, why'd you switch? a top magnet school significantly boosts your chances at practically any university, soooo
don't do it just for the resume
like i said schols often recalculate, so don't worry too much about that (they usually leave non-core classes out)
They said personal reasons
And their school sets them on a specific track
Does your school not allow you to do CSA given you’ve done CSp before?
I’m Pretty sure you can waive the prerequisite since you’ve done CSP
oh
Even in another school
mb i missed that
i mean that isn't bad
Hi!
Hi!
any AP recommendations for sophomore year?
I took Physics 1 economics
what's offered
and what's your planned major
for a sophomore, euro, apes, csa, calc ab, both econs are generally doable
i want to pursue a field in pre med
okay thank you
what courses are offered
I was ranked top 5 in my magnet school, but I have to switch back because of health issues. Moreover, I have to drive over 2 hours there and back so I barely had time to do anything.
ahhh icic
By track, I mean that all students take nearly the same courses for freshman and sophomore year, while juniors and seniors get a bit more flexibility
All students in my grade are required to take AP CSP, but AP CSA is unavailable until junior year. My new school is stupid so they’re forcing me to take cs honors as a prerequisite even though my old school would’ve allowed me to take AP CSA directly. I’ve already spoken to the counselor and she said there’s nothing she can do.

Some universities require physics for computer science majors.
Not University as community college?
Sorry, can you clarify what you're asking?
What I meant was should I take physics for computer science in community college?
First, I would check with the university you plan to attend. The degree plan will give you a better idea of the classes you should take.
Also, the university may want a specific physics class to count towards the degree.
Ok thank you for your help!
Not sure if this is the right place to ask but can you do anything with a certificate of achievement in engineering? Because I plan to do a bunch of dual enrollment classes to get an Associates in physics at the same time I graduate high school. But if I do only 3 more classes I can also get a certificate of achievement in engineering. Is it worth it to get a certificate of achievement because I am interested in potentially doing engineering but my main plan is physics.
If u can handle it go for it
No, you won't be able to get an engineering job with a certificate, but if you're interested in it, there's nothing wrong with taking the additional classes.
Ok
Why some countries have 3 year degree instead of 4 year?.
3 years tend to be more specialized, less gen ed too, also hs prepares you differently
How so?.
Okay I have a question, i'm thinking about enrolling into my local community College and I know i want a degree in information technology, which classes would you guys recommend for me?
More specialized in hs. Certain types of schools
Also its just like different certificates. They are different and vary in time it takes to obtain one
I like to take business course but I don't know how it will be so any advice?
take an intro course and learn how it will be 🤷♀️
kind of what they’re for lol
Thanks but I looking to advise that college student that has business course should know
It might be helpful for me one day
How this for a junior schedule where I have not taken a single AP. Im a pretty good student, getting A’s and a B or two hear and there. Idk what college I wanna go to but I’m interested in Math and Social Studies, want to explore aspects of science and wanna get better at reading and writing.
-AP American Government
-AP Statistics
-Math 4+5 Honors
-Chemistry
-AP Lit and Comp
-AP Macroeconomics
-AP Environmental Science
-and this Lifes Issues class
pretty stacked ngl
env science may be cool for your interests as well as statistics
I've taken ap gov and its not too bad just know ur court cases and docs like federalist papers
These are my projected senior classes for next year:
3-D Design concepts
AP Calc BC
Epidemiology and Public Health
AP Lit and Comp
AP Microecon
Music theory
Can you put calc somewhere in there or are you planning to take it senior year?
Calc is basically a must for half the majors, even a lot of humanities majors
You have to take it senior yr at my school
Which I am doing
oh yeah that's cool then
your schedule looks pretty good 👍
Sure is (:
Question I'm thinking of studying computer engineer but how do I know it I'll be right for me?
Take some classes and gain some experience with it
Thanks!
Think of the job(s) that interest you and look up their requirements. You can also look up the degree plan for computer engineering at the university you plan to attend and read the course descriptions to see if they sound interesting.
Yeah that's the thing I have no idea what I want to do but I'll for sure give it a try and check it out thank you!!!
just registered to business classes in my high school in hopes of getting into business school by graduation
👍
Hey Gohar and chat, I have a question. I’m 16 years old , and am about to graduate from high school. So the thing is, should I go to colleague or straight up to the University ? What do you recommend
Depends where you want to go. Is colleague, college? And if so, what do you do at college thats different then university? Like CC?
hello guys i am wondering about college math
so basically i'm really interested in stem but don't know my majors or specific interests
i'm just taking the highest stem courses that are available
so i'm wondering about the progression and majors and professions i could get by using my current courses
10th grade - ap calc ab, ap chem, honors spanish, honors english
11th grade - ap calc bc, ap bio, ap econ, honors eng, honors spanish
12th grade - honors math methods in engineering, ap compsci, ap physics c, ap spanish, idk if honors spanish
so like i have no clue what i would do
yo guys my school has this thing where you're not allowed to take aps until 11th grade. the only exception is if you skip a grade in either math or language, and then you can take an ap in 10th. is it worth it to try to learn 9th grade spanish in 3 weeks so that i can try to skip
and take an ap
So I already did this but I'm going to 7th and I need to know if these are good choices to get extra credit / be better in high school...
AAC math, AVID, Touch system data entry and dollars and sense, AAC social studies, Science, Kickstart, and AAC ela
whats aac
Any advice in script writing in a cinematic film and script going to be a poem
So any advice?please UwU
wrong channel
this is for course selections
take it in #english-help
should i take human body systems or ap biology if i want to be in the medical field?
Well I want to study Cyber Security.
I don’t know if the work at the University will be more difficult than, college.
Both are fine
Well your stem courses look fine
But don’t take ab and bc
What AP class should I take for science cause honors chemistry was mind numbingly boring and pretty easy
You’d be wasting a year where u could’ve advanced ur math
some schools require ab befofe bc
(eg. my school)
😔
fr my school is lame
Anyways to answer your questions you have a variety of math classes and science classes
but i’m taking precalc over the summer
Since during senior year
Oh ok
(generally not allowed and almost never done before)
Since you’re doing comp sci and engineering math that’s what I would recommend. Something slowing the lines of computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, maybe even applied math.
Collegeboard needs to set out a disclaimer
Like there’s a reason why ab and bc only have a difference of two chapters
idk tbh
¯_(ツ)_/¯
Is this a good senior schedule for high school? Im currently a sophomore but at this point I would have taken 5 AP’s and atm I probably do want to go to college but don’t know which, I’m usually a pretty good student too (Global Issues is required for grad)
-APUSH
-Global Issues
- Calculus 1 (AB isn’t offered)
-Calculus BC
-Physics (no AP physics)
-AP Chem (inorganic is a prerequisite)
-Inorganic Chem
-Organic Chem
-PE
-AP Lang and comp
(:
5 aps by the end of soph year is good!
The schedule is good
Why are you taking both calc bC and 1
Sorry I worded that weirdly, I meant 5 Ap’s Junior year, (my school is super limited on AP’s for Sophomores and Freshman, sorry for confusion)
Calc 1 is required for BC
No that’s still fine
Okieeeee
Bruh not another school
That’s a lot of classes you’re taking
Does that happen a lot 😂
That’s about 10
Yea the minimum is 8
Yeah schools force their students to take two classes of calc where they learn basically the same stuff
That sucks ):
Do you think you can handle it?
If so you’re fine
Im on the fence about Ap Chem, other than that I can definitely handle it
- math is easily my strongest subject by a mile
That’s great!
It’s my favorite subject definitely
That’s awesome (:
Yea so I would end High School with 8-9 AP’s
Im happy with that
What should I do if my country doesn't offer AP classes? I take "higher level", as it is called, but that's all that's offered. It's not challenging though.
if you really want, you can take courses online (and sign up for ap tests near you). if they aren’t, you could probably get certificates from sites like edX to show proficiency and write about them (but they won’t affect anything too much)
is there some online resources or tips to make sure I'd enjoy a college option ?
I'm currently looking into a game bachelor in different colleges but I'm afraid of making the wrong choice
Hey guys I need help picking a career. I want to have a good idea so that I can start preparing. I’ve been deciding nursing/ medicine and compsci. Can I have like a medicine major and a comp sci minor. Can I have them both as majors? Whats even a career in medicine? Which one should I go for? Could you guys help me figure it out?
Medicine isn’t a major, its a specialized school you have to go to after undergrad
So you can technically double major in like biology (which is a typical premed school major) and comp sci
And a career in medicine is being a doctor or researcher or something
Thanks for clearing it up 🙏
It’ll all depend on the professor. Ive found from hearing about people switching some classes are very easy, some are not. Some easy at the CC, same class hard at the 4 year vice versa. Colleges tend to be more understanding outside of school, be more willing to work with you because of smaller classes
Some university professors are the college professors, if they are in the same city, so use the same coursework
I mean this is in the nicest way possible so I apologize if it comes off as rude but do you know what a university is?
Or do you mean like going cc or a trade school?
I think thats what they mean. Though most people who go into cybersecurity just does CC. Also, some private schools are labelled college
For High school, What do you guys recommend for History classes
History is the only subject that stresses me out the most
What history classes are offered?
AP Us History, AP government, AP Macroeconomics, AP Microeconomics, World History, AP Human Geography, AP World geography, Ap Psychology
Im going to be in 9th grade soon so yeah
You cant take many AP in 9th, right?
yeah
Above, i just listed all classes
that are in social studies
which the school offers
Ok. I’ll just let someone else answer. I’ve had none of those classes
alright
Should I take AP Compsci. principles if I wanna be a data scientist?
Yeah sure
It’s a good class
But it’s really easy
So if you know stuff about cs
Don’t bother taking it
If it stresses u out I recommend the easier ones
Ap human geography
Ap psychology
Ap macro
Ap micro
If you want to do ap world
It’s a really cool course
But ap world is a more difficult course
I was going to choose Ap human geo for 9th grade
That’s good
so after human geo what will be next?
Psych
I recommend ap world though
It’s a bit more challenging
But I think it’s worth it
Should i take a fine arts class for all 4 years of highschool or more ap classes
yo could someone tell me their experience with AP Human Geo?
class was hard for me because it was the first ap i took but in retrospect it's a pretty easy class. the exam wasnt too hard either
my ap world teacher gave us very little DBQ and LEQ practice, and I been stress studying since Friday. Multiple choice and saq im ok at, he gave alot of practice, since his unit exams were just essentially sections of the AP exam. How screwed am I?
You can prob still get a 4 and 5 if there is curve or you study a lot
No no it’s okay, I know that the University is harder. That why I’m asking currently I’m high school
I don’t know if should I make the change
heimlers history on loop
i got the thesis down
contextualization paragraph down
but the actual body paragraphs...
a university is just a collection of colleges, eventually you will end up in a college. that being said i know literally nothing about cyber security so youd probably have to do some research about whether itd be favorable for you and how important your undergrad is for that field
Oh okay
You'll probably be fine
You can borrow Barron's or Pirnceton from a library and do practice qs from that
It's ok take deep breaths
AP World isn't suposed to be as hard compared to other tests
really?
last year's average was apparently a 1.9
But youll be fine just keep studying and dont lose confidence in yourself
Dang
It says 2.8 online
Close to a 3
yeah teacher must be using scare tactics
shows us a averages and "overall" average was a 1.9
I think that was mabye for your school or he lied to just get you motivated or smth
damm
if it was for my school its not surprising
he's honestly a pretty bad teacher
and puts it under the guise of "im treating you like you're in college"
every copy of an AP world history prep book is taken
someone took one from 2011 💀
I found an e book my library offers
its from 2022 and its made by mcgraw hill
Ok, I’m struggling to find a good schedule. I’ve never taken an AP course or Honors Course and I’m going into Junior yr of high. Probably wanna go to college but don’t know which. I am strongly interested in math, interested in History, wanna learn more about science concepts and get better at reading and writing:
Im wanna take:
-AP American Government
-Math 4 and 5 Honors
-AP Statistics
-AP Biology (I originally planned on APES and Macro)
-Chemistry
-This Lifes Issues class
-and AP Lit and Comp
my school only offers one ap course (calc ab), what should i do?
Will my first year of high school be absolute hell if I take algebra 1 and geometry?
no
Imo geometry is really easy
Depends if you’re good with variables. If you are then algebra won’t be too hard
Thats what i took freshman year. Went well for me. Though geometry was honors
Once you get the formulas down, yeah.
I see.
I mean my current math grade isn't half bad so I think I'll go for it if my teachers don't down rail my idea 😅
I thought there weren't any prereqs?
take calc ab and do dual enrollment or self study other aps
dual enrollment is better than self study tho so only do self study if you can't do dual enrollement
why are u taking two math classes??
what are some great ap classes to take for basic electrical engineering?
well it all depends on what’s offered but ap calc —> bc and ap physics —> C are probably the basic ones
There aren’t
That’s what I’m saying
It’s so easy
That if you know cs
Do not take it
aight
Just keep it mind that there's no rush. The best thing you can do for your future is to have a solid understanding.
No not rly
Geometry is a very easy class already it was for me
That is very true. I've just found our curriculum slow paced and I know I can teach myself a lot more in a short amount of time, technically what I am trying to say is I don't mind the challenge.
Accelerated (subject). Like a higher level of the subject / more advanced.
Hello. i am going to be a junior next year and i want to know if i should take ap chemistry or physics honors next year. a prerequisite at my school to take ap physics is physics honors so i cannot do physics honors. i am currently doing chemistry honors rn
Is there a benefit? I doubled so I could take more advanced math classes
I'll have more time for college classes
Are you doing DE then? Which college classes?
I'll do it in 11th grade. Hopefully some classes around business.
Oh I see
hey, how old are you? there’s a role for under middle school, but you need to verify your age first- it’s bc there aren’t that many people in that age range so it isn’t a selectable role
Those are good choices 👍
4 aps after never taking an ap might be tough
prepare yourself
it’ll be manageable, just different
Hey so my high school says they require a 92 or above in algebra geometry chemistry and biology to get into AP Physics 1
How does this work and if I don’t meet these requirements does college board still allow me to be accepted
It’s cause ap physics is really hard and your school doesn’t want a class full of people who will fail
You can still self study though if you want to take the test but you don’t meet the requirements
Oh really?
I can self study for the AP exam? And it will still show up on my transcript?
it won’t show on your transcript but you can take the test and submit the score to the colleges
But it’s still valid?
I'm in middle school currently
But I asked my question bc I want to try and challenge myself in 7th. Right now, 6th, I didn't really. My middle school also starts at 6th
ohh icic
how old r u tho
i’d say if you can then go for it
Okay tyy
bc adv classes are worth it imo
Kk tysm
ok so it may not show good effort but will show my intelligence?
Does it appear worse for applications
No it won’t if anything it’ll better because you’re taking initiatives to learn
It’ll show good effort as well
Thanks Guys! Appreciate it
Should you self study an AP class in 9th? If so which classes?
If your in the UK don't do computer science
👍🏽👍🏽
Hi guys. Do you guys have any suggestions for what ap classes to take and which ones aren’t worth taking?
Well all of them are worth taking
But that doesn't mean that you should/need to take all of them
Overall it just depends on your interests and what college you want to get into
Ok, thx
Hi guys I’m just curious I’m a freshman in highschool that took ap comp sci principles and I’m looking for some more ap exams to take for my sophomore year. I will already be taking ap gov and I’m considering ap lang and a teacher suggested ap bio is that to much for a sophomore or is that fine. Also if you have any other good suggestions that would be nice.
That’s fine. Also since you did ap csp then do csa next year
What’s csa
At my school they require you to go on to programming 1 where they teach Java
No
csa is ap java
how do you guys feel about 5 aps sophomore year
Which ones
do you have to take ap classes to match your interests or take ap classes to match the requirements for high school aps?
I am an oncoming freshman
I’m thinking about take electrical engineering, what classes should I take in highschool for that?
Do a bit of both
Take ap classes that match your best subject areas
Also try taking Aps in other subject areas
because then by the time you're in college
you'll be able to get rid of some elective and humanities requirements and/or stem based on your major.
To clarify, if I am interested in EE, I would take ap classes that match my interest in ap. Then I would take ap english lang ect. to get rid of the humanities requirements for collage?
Can y’all explain the concurrent clase thingy?
Dual enrollment?
Ye
Go and take college classes that count for both hs and college credits and its usually free
If you want. I think its a great opportunity but I cant speak for your situation
Yes exactly, and things like physics, physics C would be good for EE but not for freshman year
how can i find a mentor to write a research paper? do i need to be knowledgable about that topic before hand?
Math and physics are the major topics, but I would focus on building a solid foundation of algebra and trigonometry for calculus. It will be important for engineering classes in college.
Okay thank you :) Are AP classes better to take than regular?
Beyond the interest and rigor factors, the benefit of AP is it (might) count for college credit. However, it's not the only way to get credit while in high school.
Okay thank you. I appreciate the help
Should I take Orchestra for all four years of highschool or take more AP and DE calsses?
seminar, calc bc, apush, physics 1, csa/java
all sophomore year
and then hon chem and french 4
Idk what seminar is but seems chill to me if you think you won’t be stressed
Is seminar your English class or something
Ight
how many AP classes is probably too many? 3? 4? 5?
depends on the classes
if you want to do engi and the other APs are classes like ap art history/apes then do orch
if they are relevant or good quality ap’s take the ap’s
only exception is if it’s highly emphasized in your app (competitions, etc), in which case take orch no matter what
dang ur school offers them all
we only have one of those and you can’t take calc until junior or senior year
you go to a private school or smth?
How?
I’m taking geometry over summer but for pre calc you have to do it in a college right?
i wanna major into finaical engineeringn wut classes shuld i take
how many do u think u need to take to get into an IVY?
i think in some schools you can take precalc over the summer but there's no precalc honors option
my friends school might hae pre calc honors
for som reason
what kind of school do you go to
Oh yeah I just realized. For summer school sadly the integrated math 2 isn’t honors
Does the class still go over all the content though?
Depends on the APs
but yeah a good rule of thumb is like 4 classes is good
but I've seen schedules with 5 and even 6 APs, but that's because there are some easier APs sprinkled in
well that’s kinda also the question
oh mbmb
how many is good enough for high tier schools, but not too many that you can’t handle them
what kind of easy ones? My school doesn’t offer any of the capstones
And not precalc, Lower levels of physics, or programming
that depends what school you go to and the amount of ap's offered by your school
if you want to look competitive take an amount that's a lot for your school
or just take how ever many you feel like
enough for high tier schools or ivy is kind of subjective when they all claim to be holistic so course rigor is not the sole factor in determining whether you are a fitting applicant for their school, that being said course rigor is still incredibly important if you want to check out cds for schools that report their admissions criteria
huh
i think at my high school you can take around 15 aps total over 4 years if you're really tryhard
Should I choose honors biology or physical science cp
Okk thanks
what do u want to be as your career in the future? which one do you find more interesting/important for yourself and for your future?
The max number of aps is 5. Ask your school for more clarification just in case.
online class for us
What do I major in? I like finance, business, designing things. I am decent in maths, I am really good at english and history. I want to major in Engineering and then study business for higher studies. What is the right course for me?
Mechanical engineering? Industrial engineering? Economics?
Ok thx
There's more though. Those are just examples. I advise you to see your school advisor for more advice and list of examples of careers that suits your liking and abilities.
APCSP and APES are generally said to be on the "easier" side of APs
and if you have any programming knowledge, APCSA
No different schools have it different
For us we could technically take 7
Barely anybody does
I mean I don’t really find myself in any of those fields in the future as I see myself getting an mba and doing investment banking
Yeah a girl in my school took 6 in one year lol
But you said you r school not provide any aps
Understand
Just take the most rigorous courses your school offers that you know you can do well in
I going to GCC in az and I want to be a teacher. What the class name to be a teacher?
Does anyone know if you have to submit all dual enrollment transcripts that I did in high school if I don’t want credits for it? Like I took community college courses in middle schoool and got bs in them. However I don’t want to send them to colleges, would they require me to still?
If you don't want to send them to colleges then don't
But I mean if you have some As might as wellput them in there
college coursework seems cool
@vital olive
Did u reveal that person
his post isn't there anymore
yeah lolol
math AA SL or math AI SL?
How
Just curious what did you do
Lmao you could just look it at it and tell it was a lie
I’m guessing this is IB?
Yeah it was a long suspense
well we have 18
Ik that 5 with a an avg score of 3.5 and 3+ on all gives the best AP recognition award
And realistically I can take around 8-10ish (including the 3 I have scheduled for next year)
I’m considering self studying tho
Should I try to fit General Chemistry 2 in to my next semester? I’ll be taking Calculus 2, University Physics, Honors Humanities, and Art Appreciation.
Is a gpa of 3.375 considered good or bad?
anything above 3.0 is pretty good. 3.3 is above average!
Oh wow :0
I am smart then😅
Because my friend said they currently have a gpa of 2.2 or something like that🤷♀️
That's way below average. The national average for students is 3.0.
Well that ain’t good.-. The high the gpa the higher you get accepted into more colleges right?
Theoretically yes. Colleges typically want students who want a 3.0+, but, you can still get in to a decent amount if you are a little below the average. (like a 2.8-2.9)
Interesting, very interesting🤔🤔
Also, colleges don't look just at grades. They want to see other things like your extracurriculars, what you do for your community, etc..
Grades do play an important factor, but being involved also really helps.
Like community hours the school hosts?
Volunteer work, anything that is extracurricular helps.
I mean I’ve already gotten some for doing a spring fling and it was pretty fun👌
How much extracurricular activities do they want to see tho?
the average hs gpa in the USA is 3.0. So 3.0+ is basically considered "good". If you're looking to apply for top colleges, you're basically going to need a 3.5+ gpa. 3.75 is a pretty decent gpa and is competitive as well
On the common app, you can list 10 down
You don't have to use all the spots however
a good rule of thumb is have more than 5 ECs
You technically don't need to do ANY if you choose, but it can help increase your chances at certain institutions.
Sports are freaking evil to me tho🥲
yep
Oooooh oki👍
well you don't need sports. There's tons of different types of extracurriculars not involving sports
Like what🤔
If you really wanna stand out, do extracurriculars that show leadership
part time jobs, passion projects, internships, school clubs, even something as simple as tutoring your neighbor counts.
Like for me, i'm in student council. I hopefully will be doing leaders P.E next year. Things like this will make you really stand out.
I had a friend who listed "taking care of their grandparents" who couldn't move that well as an EC
and it's completely valid
I’m more of a follower than a leader tho🥲 I mean I’m in charge of the final project we’re doing for our English I class but it’s so hard when people don’t listen😮💨
Leadership helps, but it's not required. Just being active or participating in something works
what this guy said
Maybe I’ll do cheer or dance next year then🤔 Are they just gonna check my school record and see all the EC activities I’ve done or how would that work?
Nah you submit them
like you'll write down your activites on the common app
the common app is an application you'll fill out to send to colleges
Soo this🤔
Interesting🤔🤔
But from what I see you're a 9th grader (your profile), so you don't really need to worry about this right now
I'd say just start exploring topics and find something you're passionate about
could be anything like comp. sci, biology, banking, engineering, art, music, etc.
and just start doing things related to it
Kk thx^^ I am indeed a 9th grader (with 10 more school days left till FREEDOM🥳) and I’m very interested in math, music, art, and creating things so engineering I guess? Idk🤷♀️
I did went to this College Fair my school hosted and it was pretty oki. Got to learn about more colleges and universities and all that👌
that's pretty cool!
seems like you're into STEM, so you have a lot of different opportunities
and also wow your school ends early, we still have a month to go 😭
Lol don’t worry you’ll make it👍
I’m just tired of my school because the kids here are ridiculous and their parents do nothing about it😮💨
And I’m tired of doing the freaking 6 final projects I have to do🥲🥲
I just wanna sleep🥲🥲
oh yeah we have all our finals on the last week of school
and that's a week I'm definitely dreading
but that's like a me in a month problem
Well I have one for PE where we get into groups and make a lesson plan about soccer (that I think I’m gonna fail bc of my freaking lazy group😒), one for World History which is about choosing one human right and make a presentation out of it which is relatively simple I just need to put more effort👍, one for English 1 that we might do good on(except 2 people aren’t even doing anything and I’m the leader😮💨), one for Biology which is a closed terrarium type of thing, one for Digital Comm. which is making our own website on Google Sites about ourselves, and one for Art which is making a homage about Salvador Dalí 👍
honors biology is more in-depth about science....so i would suggest you should take physical science cp if you're not seeing yourself taking any stem field.
is it this server? you can just leave by clicking this server's name on your top left screen.
are you on your phone or laptop?
Am I on the right path to getting into a good university?
Im going to be a junior next school year and this is my course selection:
Im doing IB Career Program at my public high-school in FL
- IB English III
- IB Math Applications and Interpretations
- IB Biology
- IB PPS/Econ
- IB Psychology
- Cybersecurity (getting Microsoft certifications and my Cisco CCNA certification, also my career path)
- AVID 3
This summer I’m taking U.S History Honors and Spanish 2, while working at Publix and I also heave tech industry certifications from my freshman and sophomore year of high-school
None I'm a kid so yeah.
how are you using discord? is it a tablet?
definitely yes, but course rigor is only one aspect of an applicant but you are definitely on the right path
ib classes are generally the hardest classes offered at a high school so if you can do well in these classes it will look good
which classes are sl and which are hl?
yes!!
I mean both are challenging even in SL. However, are you more into applied math? Or theoretical math? Where do you see yourself in the future? Does your future career require theoretical or applied math? If you want a simpler math work, I would suggest picking math AI SL. If you're too good or want to challenge yourself academically, I would suggest choosing math AA SL.
hey, one of my friends is considering doing a course in radiology and she wants to know how hard/easy the physics is if anyone could help with that
I did physics before. Some students say it's difficult and some students (I'm one of them) say it's not that hard. Physics requires repetition of comprehensive questions exercises everyday. Moreover, if you want to excel more in Physics, you can ask for extended questions/work load from your teacher to keep practicing. I'd also like to add that Physics won't be too hard for you if you know the terminology, what each symbol represents and understanding the examples of concepts or ideas of the topics. Physics can actually become an easy subject if you give some time of studying this subject at least an hour a day. There's not too many difficult mathematical solutions as well. This is just my opinion as I was a physics student. It's also good to ask for help from a teacher or collaborate with your physics classmates. What I can say is to ensure that your studying strategies and time management skills is something to consider when taking Physics as one of your classes. Diligence is one of the main factors to succeed. So honestly, I think physics is neither hard or easy. It all depends on how much dedication and hard work you put into it.
Since I got my Junior Yr schedule outta the way lets look at senior yr. Idk what College I wanna go to im still a sophomore and I’m a pretty freakin good student imo. At this point (just before senior yr) I would’ve taken 4 AP’s in junior yr alone so I would have some experience with them.
Here it is:
-Calculus 1 (AB is not offered) (This is also required for taking BC)
-Calc BC
-APUSH
-AP Macro
-Global Issues (this class is required for grad)
-APES
-Inorganic Chemistry
-Physics (AP physics isn’t offered)
-AP Lang and Comp
-PE 10-12
should I take many AP's next year? or should I just take the classes Im interested in?
If you're a 9th grader and talking about 10th grade, yes, take the ones that you're interested in!
