#course-selection

If you applying any European countries they need language test if course taught in their country language.
It’ll count, sure, but most colleges like to see you try to learn a new language
Dont listen to this lawliet person
He doesnt know what hes talking about
Then is the problem not enough space in ur schedule?
Okay so basically these are two electives for ADST, and I chose computer programming as one of them and I just needed help choosing the other one. Hope that clears it up
if you’re interested in business take business
Yeah I plan on taking it
What are the other options?
How hard is AP Lit compared to Lang
My school offers college courses(in person) and online AP courses should I take online AP courses or college courses or a combination of both? Pls ping
i would take online
because online its so free
im taking AP Human Geo and its so easy i have a 100 and im 75% done with the first semester
if you can learn online as well as learning in-person then it's honestly your preference imo
Hey has anyone taken AP Bio here before?
I’m taking it next year as a sophomore
Let me know how the class is
how many APs you guys think is too much for sophomore year
any more than 3 is going to be really hard depending on ec
ouch
4 in school 1 out of 😭
i’m doing it to learn tho not just for class lists and stuff
i bet you know whats right for you
i think 10 is about right for an entire high school career, not one year
funny
how
Algebra II Honors
English II Honors, World History AP, Computer Science Principles AP, Spainsh Honors, Engineering Design and Presentation I, and Chemistry Honors
I am a currently a freshemen
what do u want us to do
What courses would be rigorous?
wdym
ap physics
Have you taken World History AP?
this sounds like good freshman stuff
im a freshman and classes like this is around as rigorous as i can take
next year take some aps
whatever interests you
next year im taking precalc, ap physics, ap seminar, apush, chem, french, and ap cs a (ap java)
thats around the toughest classes i can take
id say find what sparks your interest and challenge yourself extra in those areas
No its not
Y is everything linited at ur school?
who said its limited
Try some cc classes
those are the options i have
Ur showing its limited
Try some cc classes
i can take those junior year
Y?
bc we cant take them sophomore year??
Just enroll at ur local cc or go to a different one if a cc doesnt offer it
Y
u wanna talk to my school board ab it?
Im just asking y
i cant tell you cus idk
Try asking
we have like early college programs but that only starts at 11th
Not early college, i mean de or sa
maybe in ur county
As long as u dont have ur hs diploma yet, u can take it whenever
ill look into it
Someone
I am going to be sophomore, do you think this good?
@neon belfry
Its whatever
oh these are your classes for sophomore year?
they seem fine if thats as hard as you can go
maybe try and do some self studying or programs and take some ap tests outside of school too
Thats useless
Well there’s better things to do with that time then doing a random ap test
Thanks
youre learning valuable material still
taking the class from a separate, non school sponsored source isnt a bad thing
But u should channel ur passion of learning to something that can be added to resume/college apps
Actually yes it is
maybe thats just a difference in values then
Nope
I’ve literally talked to enough people that got accepted to fancy schools to know this
Including UCLA admissions officers
i mean even if its useless for college
^
Ie; awards, fancy orchestras, scholerships, etc
bro wtf inflated your ego?
yeah
I mean… nothing is rlly special
Its just an ordinary schedule
Wdym
guys what subjects should i take in high school if i want to do cs degree or It related somehtinglike cybersecurty ishhh
ping me so ik someone has msg me here thnaks
@next zenith computer science based classes like ap comp sci principles, ap comp sci, the tech electives your school offers, maybe ap stats?
You’re doing enough
4 aps soph year is pretty good
Duck u realize de isn’t the only good thing to do. That persons doing four aps soph year and like two of them are notorious for being VERY difficult. So they already have the rigor. It’s about balance, and they have the rigor so don’t need the cc.
I’m guessing the other classes are honors?
Nope ccs require high school permission and not all high schools allow it
Also some private colleges dont accept DE credit
alot of them
don't
also guys im splt between pre-med,pre-law, aerospace engineering/astronomy. what classes should i take for these subjects
so far i have done physics 1 H, law and order
and thats pretty much it
not like electives like actually subjects in yaer 11 and 12 that makes up your score percentage that one and some bechale says that it reuiqres certain subject for that but regardin cs what is recomamnded bud
this
Idk what classes you have but for your general classes take the intro classes/general classes for those subjects and see which you like more
Oh ok. So you arent leaning towards one of them yet?
its hard for me
tbh i will prob do all of them
in due time
but it;s just that
i want to go to somewhere like an ivy league ( i just started thinking about ivy league a couple months ago) because for someone like me i want to bring as much value as i can to helping people, and innovating, and i feel Princeton/harvard have the best resources for me.
idk what the point of that rant was
Are you at a CC or a state uni?
what?
So still in hs. Still have time to figure out which one you prefer
but i only have two years left until im done with hs and then i have to apply to undergrads
Thats fine. You dont need to know your major rn. Nearly all students in college change their major
but colleges like freaking Princeton and Harvard expect me to be masters at something in the womb. i realize im a sophomore in hs, and i don't know how to play an instrument(im learning), not amazing at the sports i play, and my gpa is under 4.0. I feel like the last thing i can do is just show through my classes my interest in something consistent.
Well yeah your application needs to stand out and you need to get awards or have great EC. Sure you can try to create your application that shows a particular interest. Choose the one you like the best. However, once you are in one of these colleges, plenty of people change their majors and explore different classes to see what they like
EC?
Extracurricular
Also there are plenty of other colleges that are great if you dont get into ivys
Y do u wanna go there?
its just one of those life goals
Y not go to cc where its cheaper
a sense of happiness, accomplishment, and a chance to do something amazing
that is recognizable
nation or worldwide
Yeah but need to work hard to try and obtain it, actually want to go there, and if you dont obtain it, very few do, not to be disappointed and still be satisfied with the school you go to
So prestiege?
Ur making the worst mistake in ur life
have the community, and resources
All schools have the community and resources
for me to do something "super amazing"
What resourses, the education is literally the same as any other college
Uh huh, and whats that
shit idk
If ur just going off of prestiege, ur making the worst mistake of ur life
Many ivy come out and are among their state uni coworkers doing the same job/better
Then u can go to cc where its cheaper and local
haven't seen other colleges have over a 20 billion dollar endowment
Still millions though
????
Y does that matter
more money = more advanced resources
no exact purpose.
Go look into different colleges
What other colleges are you thinking besides ivys?
yea
who are u bruh
you’re so rude
it’s not being blunt or honest it’s just disrespectful
@worn sable it’s good that you have goals
just know you need to do the hard work
and it’s not like non ivy colleges are bad
you can do good anywhere, but having goals is good
don’t be discouraged if you feel under qualified or bad or anything
anyone doing the iB ( 👁️ 🐝 ). Hows it?
why do you want to go
i’m just curious
Virginia tech/ University of Rochester are my safeties but Rochester is not set in stone cause they are expensive
Thank you so much
uHM COUgh cough
I am going to take 3 APs in 11th grade: ap physics, ap chem, and ap calc bc
- the thing is I appealed for a 4th ap which is ap lang since I heard ap lang is easier than english 11 but it got rejected so should I just take ap lang in senior year or directly ap lit in senior year (I am taking english 11 in 11th grade)
Why they rejected you?
Probably Ap lang senior year. Don’t do Ap lit
What's wrong with AP lit
Y u making ur junior yr hell?
If i were u, i would do ap physics senior yr and move one of ur classes from senior yr to junior yr
bro u gotta be giving some mid advice so u have less competition or smt
my junior years gonna be hell too
i have like
5 or 6 aps
But y not spread out the aps?
take even more the year after
Uh huh for the weighted gpa or what
gives me time to take classes i find interesting senior year even if they won’t necessarily benefit me
If u just want the weighted gpa, de is much easier
Oh thats cool. Btw both are not safeties. A safety is 80% or higher acceptance. They would be both target
But sometimes it depends on your grades and scores. Though I would air on the side of acceptance % because of how competitive things are
I plan to go into electrical engineering after graduating high school. Should I take Trig or PreCalc for my senior year maths class?
I’m taking the brand new AP precalc course next year
I heard precalc isn’t too bad
From fellow sophomores
My weighted GPA is 3.97
W I'm trying to bring that class to my school next tear
Oh ok
Or any school that yk u have an guaranteed or very high chance of getting in
Hence my safety is csulb
Do you feel confident in algebra? Is it a single semester precalculus class?
Personally, I think trigonometry is the more valuable course when offered as a standalone class. Trig will appear in plenty of engineering classes, including complex numbers as an electrical engineering major.
Yeah. Extremely high chance with it being a cu and CA resident. UC tend to be harder
I have a low B in Algebra II, and no, it would be a full year of PreCalc
Not extremely high just cuz i live in ca
Beyond the grade, how's your understanding of the content?
Do you have access to the syllabus for precalculus? Is it also a full year of trigonometry?
It's alright. My understanding lacks here and there, but all around I'm passing my tests. Trig is also a full year.
Right
If you had access to the syllabi, that would give you more information to work with.
If precalculus has a semester's worth of trigonometry (given that it's full year), I think that's also fine. Either path will get you to calculus.
What I mean is with my GPA should I lower my goals?
Who does that
I would be realistic. I wouldnt necessary lower goals. That GPA is decent. Just get a good list of 3-10 colleges. And enjoy and not be disappointed where you end up
Thank you
No not really
Also not all schools put DE as ap credit
Also many de courses are easier than ap
Precalc
Not enough time or more aps the other year
Ik but hes making junior yr hell by taking the hardest aps
Just swap an ap with a different ap
Then its sa, not de
This is the official ispace landing coverage of HAKUTO-R Mission 1.
I have that level my soph year
It’s fine
Same
For example
My school
Only AP classes get ap credit
De is honors credit
But like why take the easy way out
It’s about education
Its not easier, its the same but ergonomically easier
But rigor is the same
Not really
Like if u do ap hug instead of ap world
That’s taking the easy way out
Duck think of it this way
We’re doing less classes than you
But more diifcult
So it balances out
More classes
Less difficult
Less classees
More difficult
Ig
I meant to do the harder ap senior yr
Ur just switching aps, i dont see whats soo complicated about it
What’s the difference between public and private schools?
Public is gov funded schools and private not funded by gov
Private more expense, public not. Private can impose many different rules, can be religious, have more funding
You didn’t apply anywhere this year right?
for high school
Idk which one
and idk when to apply
What grade are you? Majority of hs you dont need to apply to
No college
How easy is ap psychology?
But like first of all there’s not always an alternative
And then it’s not that easy
Like u can’t just go switcheroo
Some aps have
Prerequisites
And then others are only allowed a specific year of high school
very easy at my school idk abt yours
depends on school teacher: if its ur first ap it can be challenging because it may time consumjng, if not, you should be fine
a lot of vocab and a ton of memorizing
also pretty teacher-dependent
Can it be taken with two other aps
Psych? Yeah you can take 2 other APs with it. Just make sure you're able to manage everything
from the experiences of my friends, psych isn't hard in the sense that it requires a lot of thinking. There is just a lot of stuff to memorize
what’s the difference between AP classes and Honors classes
Ap classes are usually more difficult than honors classes
Ap classes are also standardized
In terms of an exam you have to take at the end of the year
And it’s meant to be college level
Honors usually gives 4.5 gpa credit
An AP 5.0
Tho many schools do it differently
im sorry for bugging you,but you have been a great help so i had another question. I want to take for my electives, a semeester of biomedical principles, aerospace and engineering lab( not saying actual name of class cause it has my city in it), and automotive technology 1, and art 2 stuido art so then i can do AP art as a senior and it shows on my transcript im creative
but i also want to take AP physics 1
I am the wrong person to talk to about AP. My school did IB
I can maybe answer it if its not advice on which AP is harder/material taught. Do you not have enough room for both art and physics?
although im intrested in automotive technolgy 1 and i like cars/engines, but should i choose ap physics as so i can grow in engineering and it looks good for ivy league?
Yes choose ap physics over automotive. You can always learn about cars on your own, from parents, friends, online, in the future or even now. Physics is good for engineering and does show you would be interested
probably because my French teacher doesn't like me and I have an A- in that class so yeah
alr thanks
I am probably gonna major something in physics so I was thinking of doing ap physics 1 in 11th grade and ap physics 2 in 12th grade and since I am taking chem in 10th grade, I thought it would be good to keep the flow by taking ap chem in 11th grade so yeah
and ap calculus bc is just a continuation from what I am doing in 10th grade so yeah
probably precalc
dude I wished that existed before since that would be a free ap and precalc was really easy
trust me bro don't stress
i always have thoughts in the back of my mind
saying i wish i did this and not done that
but it does nothing for me
Bruh my brain wouldn't be able to handle AP math classes
Im taking art 2 studio art(2d and drawing) next year so i can do AP studio art as a senior, because having a ap art class would show "creativity" to future admission offices. Do you think that is a good idea or i should just drop it?
and focus on something else
Are you genuinely interested in art? Will you be doing art projects? That elective class could go to something else. Also keep in mind should be taking difficult classes but also interesting ones for yourself
im not that interested in art. Sure i enjoy it
I'm getting into art this summer starting with AI Art. I'm not very creative, but creating a piece of art is very enjoyable
Ive done some of that generating art. Its interesting how long it takes and the different types of art it produces
Yeah, I've been looking at a few different platforms. At first, I didn't think AI Art was very original, but you can create some really cool projects in just a few hours as long as you use the right keywords.
Definitely
Yeah it’s cool our school has it
Ap lit is gonna murder you
Nope , Currently I am 12th grade after graduating high school I will apply next year most probably. Wbu
Huh
What
You should apply this year
If you’re ending school this year
Gap years are not necessarily good
Thought he needed all of his test scores/grades
Finishing up this year. Got into the ones I wanted and attending next year
Cool!
What college if you are comfortable sharing
I wouldnt be. I think I’ll really enjoy it there though
Do you guys think I should take a 4th year of science
I want to major in real estate or a buisness field
That’s good!
Yes
It’s a good idea
To take core classes Throughout high school
I'm majoring in business, and I took four years of science
Also a business major and only took three years of science
What do y'all think is harder, apush or ap lit
should i take ap chem next year if i'm struggling in ap bio
i would say apush
Fr?
yeah
My school only offers college courses no aps. Will it look the same to colleges?
i cant say if itll look the same, but i dont think you'll be penalized for not taking ap's because you're school literally doesn't offer any. as long as you take some of the more rigorous courses offered, colleges will understand that you did your best academically within the context of your own school
Dual Enrollment still looks great to colleges.
Colleges will also see that your school doesn't offer any APs. You won't be benefited by that, but neither will you be penalized
Ok thanks
Why do you think that
cuz i'm taking apush, it's pretty hard but i like it. i don't like lit. maybe take ap lit if you're into english.
is it okay to be taking grade 12 chemistry and grade 11 chemistry in 1 year? I kinda wanna fast track and complete all the chemistry courses, but idk if it’d be too much work. If anyone has taken gr 12 chemistry, please lmk whether or not it’s a little, or a lot harder compared to grade 11 chemistry, ty!
i think this is dependent on the canadian schooling system, which idk if many people would be familiar with
here, it's just chemistry and AP chemistry that divide htem
well i think it’s equivalent to AP chem
what's equivalent to AP chem
12th gr chem?
I think so
cross-check the curricula
I heard like any course code with U is equivalent to AP
but still
do you have a defined curriculum on a pdf or something
for gr 12 and gr 11 chem
or
wait
want me to ask my canadian frien
uhhh i think I can find it
yes
ap would be harder then grade 12
oh
Should I take AP Human Geography in my freshman year or my sophomore year?
does it matter?
if you have to, I would say take it freshmen year, but I'm biased towards AP world if its offered
I’m more concerned about the AP Exam that is included. Can it be easy to self study the topics, I like history. But I’m not so sure.
Me too!
Not really easy to self study the histories. But no don’t worry about the exam. There’s euro next yr(hopefully in your school) if you need the credit. I would really recommend world as your intro AP
i'd agree with you on this but idk if my school is the anomaly or if there's a mix of schools that do this
AP Human Geography is the only one I can take as a freshmen
so basically, we can't take an AP history until junior year
bc it goes world history --> us history 1 --> apush
and you can take ap world as an elective sophomore
💀
idk its really weird
Oh ok
(im not doing ap world bc its lowkey bad)
Then yeah do it
Oh wow
take aphug if its the only ap u an take
I’m offended
we can't take ap's 😩 (as a freshman)
Y not
Skill issue
same lol
AP World>>
Then it means u can, they just dont reccomend it, like im in a class thats made for 11-12 graders
The problem with AP Human Geography that I have. Is that I’ve heard they might look over your previous DBQ’s in Middle School and that may prevent you entering.
acc no u dnt want to be me
Fr
no, like it's literally not pssible
Y not
middle school? what...
you have to schedule it with your counselor and put in course requests
Nope
Some schools straight up don’t allow it
Ok? So whats the problem
And y not
Huh what
They’re “college level classes and undefclassemn shouldn’t be overwhelmed with them”
Uh huh, whats the reason for this ban?
pretty sure someone made a big deal about it a couple yeras ago
but they didn't win
even though they had a BUNCH of parents on their side
So basically if you failed a DBQ or something, it effects your chances into getting into a history based AP class. Or so I’ve heard.
so they're super strict about it
Theres 2 problems with this
- Ur parents can sign a paperwork to override this
- Is 1 yr rlly gonna make a difference???
Honestly, don't ask me- I don't make the rules
I’m not even sure if it’s true or not, but I’d like some confirmation
Yeah not that simple
for 1., no, not here and not in a lot of places, i've never heard of that
For me it is
and 2. ask the school my guy
maybe not to us
but to them yes
its 11:45
i shoul be going to sleep
Well ofc ur not gonna hear it, u need to mention it to the councler
i've talked to my counselor
it's liteally not allowed
And what he’d say
she's been here 20+ years
she's witnessed multiple arguments
on AP's as a freshman
it's not allowed period
Then ask how to override it and if not just take an ap from another school
not pssible to override, idk about second but sure that works
idk how its gonna owrk but 🤷♂️
its fine anyway
Yeah like i could have tooken ib from another school, it was np
my ecs make up for it fr 💪
And u often need school permission
^^
except the lenin's t
lenin is bad
idk what his t is
Lol
They dont need to, u just apply to the other school, idk what permission ur current school needs or else how r homeschooled people or intl students supposed to apply
They do
U can’t just go to another school
That’s just not how public education works
You have a lot of formalities to fill out
@austere tulip why uk left European union
Ok so there were many reasons
One thing was that they didn’t want europe to limit their trade
It was also due to the fact that during that time there was a conservative government
And another thing
So basically Europeans say that the “PIGS”
Are leeching off money
This just means that poorer countries like Italy, Greece, and Spain, (I forgot the P) are benefitting from being in the EU while richer countries like the UK were losing money
But overall
There was not much of a benefit
And they lost money
But most of the European countries are in Top 50 richest countries
Like what
Uk?
R ur sources even correct?
It seems like u just grabbed whatever from google
National net wealth, also known as national net worth, is the total sum of the value of a country's assets minus its liabilities. It refers to the total value of net wealth possessed by the residents of a state at a set point in time. This figure is an important indicator of a nation's ability to take on debt and sustain spending and is influenc...
Because the uk was dumb and wanted to be independent
Yeh so?
UK is much richer
It’s relative poverty
So basically they say the PIGS steal the money
Poland Italy Greece Spain
Are they rich?
Yes
But they’re relatively poor to French Germany and uk
France
Lol fr
But being an memeber of European union uk also have lots of benefits. Their people also taking advantages of benefits.
So I never said they don’t
The British thought they didn’t
When they left
It’s not my opinion
If u know the answer, y r u asking the question?
thoughts on taking honors precalc over the summer as a freshman
go into sophomore year with calc bc
Do you have options to do math classes beyond calc bc?
my alg2 teacher said she isn’t supposed to recommend it but i can if i want
i’m not sure how to interpret that
i might take it with a tutor on the side too
cus i do want to really learn it
How well do you understand algebra? Have you taken trigonometry?
i mean
i’ve been doing rlly good in algebra 2
never dropped below a
so math wise my knowledge has been good
i understand it rlly easily and it class is smooth
Is it a one month summer class?
What's your intended major for college?
hey guys i had a question
so I'll be batch 2028 for college and I really wanna learn Japanese
will that help my college application in any way? cause i wanna learn that language only if it can contribute to my application cause otherwise it'll take too much time for nothing
my school isn't offering any AP or courses regarding this though
You shouldnt do EC just for your college app. You should also enjoy doing them
so I'll probably do it from a certified online course
as much as i would want to, i get into college next year and i don't have time to just do it for fun 😦
will that help in my application? or will it be an advantage for me?
Oh are you 11th? What schools are you applying to? I would just do EC you have a passion for and genuinely enjoy doing
I dont know how far you can get learning a language in less than 7 months unless you have background in it
i do have background on it
Usually with language, college want to see you learning it for at least a couple of years
i used to learn it, then i skipped the 2nd part of the course
let's say i can show 2 years of course
but not from my school
So would you report a standardized test for the language?
Like besides learning it, need to demonstrate why you did it, helped other people. Language on its own is not an EC
i was planning on attaching my certificate from the course
it's from an international site so they offer certificates
And why are you learning it? the way you will frame it to college admissions
i will present it to my best but basically because i love learning languages and experiencing different cultures and experiences from different parts of the world
do you think it'll be an advantage if i put it in my apps?
if i attach the certificate and reasoning
I feel like thats too little. Shouldnt there be some sort of leadership/volunteer that you also used this language for? Though I would like to emphasize I have never put a language type EC on my app
Though Ec as a whole, they do like awards, leadership, helping others etc
What other EC do you have?
yes it is
intended cs
but i like math
So, if it's structured like a typical college summer class, that's roughly one month worth of the normal semester-long content crammed into a week for four weeks. Plus, a test every week.
Do you feel that you're dedicated and self-motivated enough to put in the work? Be honest with yourself.
And you haven't taken trigonometry, right?
HELLO!
I'm bouncing between a lot of AP classes I'd like to take next year, here are the one's I'm trying to choose between:
(All AP):
Calc AB
Lang
Chem 2
US History
Psycholohy
Econ
French 5
Seminar
If you have any input on what your experience was in any of these classes then I'd love for you to share! 💙
Psychology is a pretty interesting class I'm being biased here bc I'm a psych major, but it's a really good class imo bc of the things that you learn.
are you planning on pursuing stem?
as sheng_li said, psych is a great option regardless of major
if you're going stem, id go with Calc AB (BC) if possible and you're good with math
lang is also a great class to consider, it teaches you to write well
Hey can someobody tell me how i can time manage my coureses well?
Im taking two of the hardest science too, Ap chem and Ap physics
Shouldn't it be English III?
Ap physics 1 is a mistake but ok then
If u took eng 3 then u would be in 3rd grade
Subject likewise
no
eng III is junior year english
That’s English 11
English 1 for 9th graders
English 2 for 10th graders
English 3 for 11 the graders
English 4 for English 12th graders
For distinction
My school calls it English 10 and what not for all grades idk why
Unless that's how my highschool worked out like
My school must be weird
How is bro taking AP pre calc???
Is that a thing?? I thought there was just honors
I'm guessing you were taking advance classes since middle school or taking it during the summer
Oh 👌
Yup their changing honors pre calc to ap lol
Since when?
Hopefully it will still be the same as honors lol
Next year
yeah i think it is
I’ll probably be taken it’s junior year as well
It's supposedly gonna be the same class. I took it this year on a 4.5 grade scale and could have boosted my GPA even more if it was on a 5.0 grade scale smh
Does anyone know how accurate khan academy is to actually classes now?
AP Physics C good?
our school doesnt have like
a specific trig class
like weve been doing sin cos tan stuff in alg2
if im being honest
i really do want to get ahead
and learn it
and my plan was
right after ap exams are done
i start a tutor
like outside of school stuff
and learn some of the material starting this summer
then as im taking the class it further develops my knowledge
and if all goes to hell ill just have to drop out and go back to honors precalc next year
So you're familiar with and can solve problems like this?
that's like geo trig tho
like stuff i learned in my geo class
do you know trig identities
unit circle
all that stuff
So you're just now learning that? My concern would be rushing through trigonometry. The lack of a solid foundation is trig could hurt you in calculus.
well
our curriculum across county goes like that
youd take algebra 2
which covers trig
and then
go to precalc
then go to calc
like we learned this stuff a few weeks ago
id say a month maybe
a "rush" through trig would then be a countywide problem
what
that was the first bit of trig we did i think
like all the "ferris wheel" problems?
all the stuff w the unit circle
True but you could be compounding that problem by taking precalculus in one month.
true
the plan im thinking of right now
is to do the tutor thing and start early may
and then take both precalc a and b
across two months
and then continue
my dad also did like a lottttt of calculus in college and was saying hed 100% help me on anything i needed help with
right now im just debating on if the education will be good neough
because im totally willing to put the effort in and learn it
outside of just the class
but im still nto sure
if itll be worth it
then that means im taking 5 aps next year
which is tough
My suggestion is to ask your teacher if they think you're ready (not if you should) to take precalculus over the summer.
i actually asked her otday
she said
they are told not to recommend it
and then she said but i could do it
im not sure if the meaning was in a motiational, approving way
or more of a technical way
she finalized with "whats the rush"
which was a good point
but i do want to get ahead and i want the challenge
as well as taking higher math classes in dual enrollment programs senior year and stuff
Just I would just phrase it carefully. Ask if you're ready for it not if she recommends or suggests it
good idea
This. Why are you in a rush? There's no race to calculus, and it's possible to make things worse for yourself.
yea thats true
that was the only thing
but i do want to take higher math classes senior year
Why?
That's understandable, but the courses will be there regardless if you take them senior year or in college. Whatever you choose, set yourself up for success.
very true
so you think i should just stay away from all that
the "ultra compressed" precalc
yea thats probably a good idea
i will talk to my teacher ab it tho
I think you should choose the best option for you, and I don't know you well enough make that determination.
Talk to your teacher, and honestly assess your understanding and self-discipline to complete a summer class. Remember, there's no race to calculus.
You're welcome. I hope that helps. Good luck!
thank you!!!
Should I tale ap chem, ap lang, and apush in the same year
Not doing outside activities
Y
as someone who is only taking 1 ap this year, but possibly 3 next year, ill just ask you if you think you can handle the courseload. lang and apush are a lot of notes and work after school. I dont know much about ap chem, but if you know your limits, then you can make the best choice
Apush is ez
I’m good with notes just wondering if I can remember everything for tests
also if you ask any of the teachers about the coursework, you can get a better idea of what goes on
No
Dont ask the teachers
They always overexertrate rverything
Yeah
Ask students who took the class
if you put in the time studying in your way and effectively then you should be good
ur right thats a better idea
Okay I’m not very book smart but I’m willing to put in the work but I currently have all b+ses for the ap classes and honors I’m taking now soooooo
Idk
thats pretty good. If you think you can handle it and study well, then go for it. My philosophy is that theres not much harm in trying, and if you get to the class and decide that you think youre going to get a bad ap score then, you will have tried somehting and learned something
Okay thank you so much
np! have a nice day!
You too
💀
Duck is form alternate universe
Yeah, from a more advanced civilization
Ok no
That’s basically racism
That’s like the reasoning the Europeans used to colonize asia and Africa
I never said that lol
I said it was the reasoning the Europeans used
And they indeed were racist
Uh huh
Mhm yeah america the most advanced civizilation in the world
and i live here too
that's just rude calling the west more advanced 💀
Yeah
like you agree with that statement?
depends on major
no
ap seminar worth as a replacement for hon eng 10?
Y
For tenth grade English?
I would say keep seminar for 11th or 12th grade English
Because u will probably not be doing ap lit
Maybe not ap lang
So it would be a benefit
To at least have some experience with literature and like analysis
Soph year
my school is offering it as a replacement for sophomore english classes
but y
Something in physical science
interesting
astro physics or theroretical physics
course for 11th grade IGCSE AS LEVEL
idk what to take any help?
I am in a lot of confusion. Till last week i.e (19/4/23) , my interest was in Comp. be pursed but the same Saturday, my interest started overlapping with physics and comp.
I don't know which to choose.
Now, I am in 12th
Any help?
[India]
because they want to..?
yes
such as?
i just want to make sure you know what you’re getting into
Do you have to choose
Because think about it
There are many majors in both comp sci and physics
I think the first one was comp sci right?
Anyways
So for example
Computer engineering
That would throw both those interests in there
Electrical engineering a bit more physics and less comp sci but still good
But yeah those two are good
Astrophysics
Like @austere tulip said, you should try to find a major that overlaps both of your interests. If you are interested in both subjects, then you will be even stronger in your intended major than if you were only focused on one or the other. If I were you, I would start by trying to focus on both in college because then if it gets to be too much you can just drop down the workload by switching majors or dropping other prior commitments. If you choose one or the other now, it will be a lot more difficult to switch down the road, and you will be limiting your ability. Some majors that require skill in both physics and Comp Sci are Astrophysics, Computer Engineering, Computational Physics, and Quantum Computing.
NO
DONT TAKE IT
colleges WILL NOT care
it is also hell and the workload isnt worth it
But is the course worth it?
yes
Ok
Sadly my school doesn't offer it 😦
So I might have to do it online.
Or some alternative method.
Speaking of
If I have a course that I want to take, but my school doesn't offer it, what should I do?
Talk to your counselor and see if there’s another way you can take it
Ok
My border idea has been computer. But it has a lot in it. Which includes physics. I got to know right now.
I will try to decide this month itself because then I wouldnt have time to. This month is fully holidays, so I can decide.
Thanks for your help☺️ and @austere tulip
Good luck 🙏
Yeah that’s a good schedule in terms of rigor
I mean if you think you cannot handle Apush then don’t do it
Here’s what I recommend
Do APush
But then don’t do ap gov
Because you are also doing ohysics C and Chem
And both of them are very time consuming
yooo do u go to AOL
Hey guys, I'm selecting my courses for 10th grade. does this look okay?
Our graduation requirement is 21 credits. I've fulfilled 7.5 already. I don't know what university I wanna go to but I wanna go to a good one, hopefully an Ivy. I'm interested in languages and music right now. We don't have APs at our school.
That look fine
Can a civil engineer major in computer engineering?
Some of em seem useless
Well yes but why
yea lol
What’s AOL
magnet school
Oh ok

Semester
This path way is for you, and you may customize it how you please, all of the comments are sugestions for the base template.,Quarter System Note: A Semester is two quarters. If you change classes between quarters within a semester (Q1 and Q2 or Q3 and Q4) than desgnate that with a slash...
i made it with advice from borger

Hi everyone, is this a good career plan for a future Comp. Sci major?
looks good
why is there so much decimal place lmfao
omg ;-;
I need help with choosing a course after 12th grade
Currently my 12th grade started and my subjects are PCB( Physics, Chemistry and Biology )
So I am struggling to choose between Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.pharm) and Bachelor of Computer science (Bsc. CS)
I really like computer science
Well in India if you have biology you don't have freedom to choose cs
..
But you can take BCA ( a 3 years computer application course similar to cs )
..
On thing you can do is take math as optional subject in 12th you can request your school to do it
..
Because if you are in CBSE you can add 9 optional subject till 12th
If you like cs then take it
Follow your passion
A college in my state says that they have Bsc. CS as a course and for that college they say that eligibility is HSC in science that means it can be any grp A or B
Elaborate
My mom says BCA is a low level course instead of that u should just do B.Pharm
That college allows anyone to do Bsc CS who have completed HSC in science so even if i have have biology i can do that course
HSC in science means anyone who passed 12th grade with science
I am weak af in maths and even if I managed to do it then I will need to give competitive exams with maths if i want to get admission in good colleges
I want to but I only have one option that is Bsc CS and my mom recommends me B.pharm so currently stuck with it
It's possible to earn multiple bachelor's degrees in different engineering disciplines. For example, some universities allow you to simultaneously earn aerospace and mechanical degrees given the overlap.
What's your motivation for pursuing degrees in both civil and computer?
I have interest in both
And the salary is very good
Do you plan to utilize both degrees in for your career?
Yes
Also, I recommend against picking a major based on the salary.
Which field will be the primary?
yeah, computer engineering is one of the best paying jobs to have
Computer engineering and on the side to be data analyst
If you're going to make this a career, it's not ideal to choose based off of money. There's no guarantee you will make the median those sites claim.
Where does civil fit into that?
Actually civil is my second plan
its not only money and i do have interest in that field
Are you planning to practice in the US? I'm not sure where you're located.
Licensure is prevalent for civils in the US and in many countries. If you want to practice as a civil, you may need to pursue licensure for career advancement and pay. In the US, the process generally involves four years experience and two exams.
For licensure, Canada is similar to the US. Each country/jurisdiction will have their own policy.
tnx
In short, my point is it's possible to earn both degrees, but it might be more complicated to fully utilize both degrees it depending on your goals and location.
Thats a very good point
maybe i might adjust my plan in those circimstances
Does anyone know where I can find the extended major quizzes that Gohar made? I would like a little more insight into the major that I am leaning toward. (I'm thinking of Computer Science or Computer Engineering as my major).
have you checked #📎ㆍresources?
glad I could help
Are this good classes to take for senior year of high school FPFA stand for forsenics police and fire academy
ur gonna waste 2 class periods?
never a good idea to waste periods tbh
unless they are pre scheduled
like lunch or smth
Senior year is when you decide to have all 6 classes or have first or 6 period off
At my high school we allowed to do that
Ik
But it’s usually not a good thing
That colleges like to see
How can you make most of your time
Is a question
I mean if you have like 50 college level classes then sure take a study hall
I currently doing dual enrollment
And a learning Lab class
I doing study hall before lunch
what type of teachers should you pick for college rec leters for stanford
Y stanford?
I want to study CSE, but if I had to which specialization should I choose that might be in demand 4 years later?
I am going to college and my interest is in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), I did write the entrance exam and a got rank which will get me partial scholarship
Either I can pick just CSE or CSE with some specialization
So whats ur question?
💀
Which specialization will be in demand 4 years later
How am I supposed to tell the future?
i need some predictions
AI and ML
Does it even matter?
I was told by some that AI and ML and IoT might be good picks
If this is what ur worried about, i dont think u should be majoring in CS
i do have experience building software, and besides this is what i like to do
Your college is LAC?.
What college r u going to
I did not pick a college yet, I did wire and get a rank in this college's entrnce exam but i haven't picked it yet
@rustic cave which country are you from
this list is from VIT, Vellore
india
Wasnt commitment due yesterday?
no?
In pretty sure for the US
I am not from the US
Ik that
Yeah May 1st. Closes in less than a hr here for the west coast colleges
The main problem I have is that I got a rank in VIT's entrance exam but the last date to apply for VIT comes before the results of the other entrance exams I am writing. So either I can commit to VIT or trust that I will get a better rank in those other exams.
So y r u waiting for the better test score
@rustic cave your jee mains rank?.
near 80k
theres no way of being 100% sure but there is data on demand and people are tracking it. Most jobs will have demand as people are leaving, increase in fields. Some jobs though will be automated, dissolve, not needed anymore
92.22 percentile
That's why I suggested AI and ML
Tf
I am not going outside for UG
Ur advice gotta be one of the most useless pieces of words lmao
92 percentile won't get me into any of the most prestigious colleges here but i am now eligible to write jee advanced
If (and that's a really big if) i get a good rank in jee advanced i can get into the top institutions here
Well have you registered for jee advanced ?
And how ready are you for jee advanced
Look
92.22 %ile is not bad at all
But please
Don't ruin your goddamn life by joining VIT
You still have scope for IITs bro
Then why tf would one prefer VIT
IIT is scam
@cold jasper explain me why IIT
Firstly, the reputation
It doesn't have any reputation of itself
I agree
But, the tag is something which impressed people over the time
Second
IIT itself is not the greatest college with the best faculty
It's the people who make it into IIT
Who make the college prestigious
Who people makes IIT prestigious?.
Any one from any college can make their college prestigious
Bruh you're answering everything but this question
.
What's the application of jee advanced in your life?.
@cold jasper you study physics chemistry math hard topic for the entrance exam which never related to your passion
Their are many other options in the world
You should look at it
..
Lemme tell you something
The reason we're tested in maths phy and chem
Is solely because people can understand that you can understand things to an greater extent
And think in many ways
It's to see if you're capable of learning something difficult
So that they can understand
That you'll be able to understand their subjects as well
Ok?. Then why IITs not in top 100 college, why IITS not great in reaserch, why people after IITs go usa, if you study capable of learning something difficult?.
Who said bro
Cs major need to understand chemistry and physics hard topics?. Even in usa they allow to used calculator for the hard calculation that calculation in India you solve by own?.
