#course-selection

Im not sure why youre asking all this, but its a stem school, one thats difficult to get into
30 on what
3.85 uw or w
uw
what about w
weighted would be a 4.2
but colleges only take uw
but they do look at what you took
so taking calc, especially something like AP could increase your chances
along with leadership portions in clubs
no
ull be fine if u dont do calc
thats not even that special
i have 3 of those
For something like Science Olympiad or Chess club? I would say thats pretty difficult to achieve
ehh
its whatever
Are the following classes not overly unbalanced?
Fall: AP Calc AB, Honors Chem, AP Comp Sci Prinicples, Engligh 10 H
Spring: AP Calc BC, AP Chem, World History, and PE
im pres + founder of link crew, treasurer of HOSA, and co-founder + vp of a medcial club
ur fine
ok
W hosa
Love em
good for u
My school counsellor said they were unbalenced so I needed to be sure
Thx
ur schedule is whatever
meaning?????????
You basing everything on how you can handle and not overall if its possible for others to endure as much stress
well I go to a school where there's been freshman who took Calc 3 (that's harder then AP Calc BC
\
Honors to AP is massive change, so I thi k that might be something
its nothing special
so it's hard to compare
cuz people arnt asking the right questions
Ok, thx for the elaboration
ok? ik that my friend's cousin is doing calc bc as a 5th grader
My school has a mandatory Honors Chem pre req if you want to take AP Chem,
oh dang
cool. I'm not that smart
yea
If that's all your APs then you'll be fine
At that time yes, but I'll have two before that
ull be fine
Borger, dude, Its not helping when ppl are asking for advice and you just respond with “eh, its easy man bc my cousin who might be gifted can do it and so can you”
like i said before, i dont think people r asking the right questions
Yeah I saw this, uh I always encourage only getting to calc BC for your courses in high school if possible
Honestly Borger sounds like the people at my school
good for u
oh lol Calc BC is like a social requirment at my school.
AP Comp A is considered easier but depends on what youll be doing tbh
Have you taken calc AB yet? If not then I would push you to take that first before doing BC. Not cause BC is impossible without AB but more cause there seems to be a correlation between doing math above calc BC and not getting accepted into top institutions from my personal experience
Ok, what count as a good questions
depends
yes I would have by that point
it's in fall
i have a 4x4 schedule
Calc AB for you is 1 semester long?
So it's like college
intresting
all classes are
Huh
Awesome HS if Calc is 1 sem
Most schools have calc AB last for a year
welll
calc I is 1 semester
which is just a regular college year
In his case he's taking calc I for 1 semester then from the looks of it retaking calc I and then calc II (calc BC is calc 1 and calc 2)
It's cuz it gets crushed into one semester
Are you perhaps going to take calc 3?
Next year
Have you taken any kind of statistics yet?
ngl... i could just de all my classes at this point, do u think its better then irl hs?
No, not really
if you don't count intergrated math
that's for senior year lol
Stats is just really useful
We’re all US HSs right?
cool
It's useful for not just college but really life as a whole so if you can take stats it'd definitely help you out
Yeye
We're all Murican
Dang bro💀
im like hs + uni + cc, so idk
Yall have it exotic
dual enrollment?
that too
see youll what we call “gifted”
You are legally required to take 13 years of education in the united states lol
homeschooled?
This is called being lucky and living in california
not gifted
🗿
im not gifted, if u call my medical conditions gifted go ahead, all i do is just take advantage of every opportunity
haha so true
Midwestern pain
no
Lots of people in cali do college and high school at the same time
It's really easy to here
doesnt de count as that
yea
I was considering it
I don't think so?
Plus you need a certificate of secondary leave lol
man wth man
So unless you can get that certificate you should stay
And I could only do both in Jr year
- you'd not have a social life in college lol
its just college + hs at the same time, no big deal
no free time
If you get your associates by the time you graduate you'd be getting 2 years ahead of your peers so while you're 18 everyone else is 20-21
i certainly dont
I like to not suffer in pain
People are gonna be drinking and shit while you're just barely able to live by yourself
It's not gonna be a fun social life lol
so true, CSULB is kinda fun cuz of it
no one cares what other people do + they leave u alone
Not really painful
Most courses I'm taking are asynchronous I'm not sure about Duck
i do 1 online
are the courses in cali really that simplified?
So yeah I gotta finish an entire college semesters' worth of courses in about 8 weeks but after that I have the rest of the semester to do whatever the fuck I want
wdym
Fuck no
No
You're taking content that's supposed to take a whole year to learn inside of high school and condensing it to 8 weeks
tbh tho, i feel like accelerated courses is easier
So you’ll have around a couple days to grasp at a whole new subject
That's because they are
Christ
And you don't have access to a prof in my case
its no big deal
they are
not rlly
So in my case as I'm taking an introductory chem course inside of my local CC, I have to learn all of the content inside of AP Chem + some more in about 8 weeks time

I would prefer to my calc work and have time to also finish some others and then chill for the rest of the day
but condensing something like AP US history into 8 weeks is crazy
TA?
teacher's assistant
w
Although im alr a "teacher" so idk
At this point its just flexing than anything
yea
Well no
US History is a proper like 16 week long course
Instead for the 8 week long course we get a really specific part of US History
So not of all US history up to modern day?
so an example:
At my local CC I believe we have a class called "black culture and life during the 60s"
That'd be our 8 week course
We cover less on the overall history of the US and more focus on really specific parts
life is hard
Cuz our Apush class is a whole year and we go from 1620s to 2021
Another course we had was something like "Life for the pioneers"
Yeah that kind of stuff is covered in college, but that's a proper like 16 week long course
So it really is just simplified for yall💀
college is easier than hs
imo
cuz our AP classes are just tauggt at the college level and get credit for doing so
looser schooling tbh
just project based and not homework
huh?
More loose
yeah cuz people dont care about other people
like i play with CSULB's orchestra and no one cares if i make a mistake or not, they expect it to be fixed
We do too lol
We're literally doing college courses
BUT AT 8 WEEKS?!
Actually you might be getting the over simplified education
Yeah but on highly specific topics
and only at a certain period and not all
You're covering about 400 years of history in a solid 32 weeks, we're covering 10 years in 8 weeks
we go from the first things that lead to the US and history
We learn a lot more specific information and shit
Magna Carta and even before
If you want an actual US history course the pathway would look like this:
US History before 1600s (18 weeks)
US History 1600s-present (18 weeks)
so how do you condense 400-600 years of history into 8 weeks
We don't
🗿
We condense it to 18 weeks
and we do it by having less courses lol
College kids only take like 4 classes a semester
High schoolers are taking about 6 on the lower end and 8 on the higher end
man yall schooling are REALLY flexible holy crap
What?
No that's straight up how college works
Like you only take 4 courses per semester at college lol
i like college better then hs
that and we get less funding
thats our school lol
They're not you just haven't done much research lol
Most colleges don't have you take more than 4 or 5 courses a semester
So we spend wayyy more fucking time in our classes
@ripe geyser dmed u smth! Help me with that
no We literally cant pick APush and have them “oh yeah can I do an 8 week course”
I'm talking about college not hih school lol
our high schools here also have APUSH
Same with CCs here
We cant go to college until we get our diploma or GED
I'm not taking APUSH but am instead taking IB History HL which covers all of APUSH in about 1 semester
and only certain schools allow to dual credit with CCs
Note: IB History HL is a 2 year long course and we cover all of APUSH in 1 semester
thats not true
we still got 3 more semesters of learning to go
sadge we dont have IBs
I literally cant go until I grad…
wdym by "go", go where
Yeye a lot of college systems in the US don't let that happen
cuz u can sa ur way to a cc rn
You can't
y not
If you live in the wrong state you can't
Some states just don't let you lol
y not
RI was like that
You just can't
ri?
Rhode Island
MO, IL, MI non of those states allow it
Like there's no reason, you just can't take a college education without first graduating high school or getting a GED
cant u at least sa at like moorpark or something?
He could attempt to SA at moorpark but his counselor would need to fill out a memorandum of understanding
Meaning that the counselor would know he's attempting to enroll at moorpark
so?
STLCC is a good example, but they only allow some schools and you have to have a 3.5 goa just to go
I think the law in question would prevent them from signing the MOU
and STLCC isnt state supported either
So matcha wouldn't be able to enroll then
then u can just sign up at a cc and take online classes
did u ask ur councler y
“doesnt work like that buddy”
@pliant vine if you'd like to try out these 8 week courses you can attempt to enroll at Moorpark college:
https://www.moorparkcollege.edu/departments/student-services/dual-enrollment
Moorpark College Dual Enrollment Accelerate your college education while still in high school! Getting college credits while still in high school (or middle school!) is a great way to start your college education early. Dual Enrollment not only earns you college credits, but it also puts you on the fast track in your college career. Navigating t...
we ball
y
Illegal
The fucking law
“diploma first then we go”
@cinder gorge all community colleges for Matcha should be impossible for him to enroll into
It is quite literally just a law that's causing it
Only in some cities they allow it, but youll still be in HS and have a high GPA
The counselor would not be allowed to aid matcha in getting into any colleges through dual enrollment or SA so as a result they would be unable to fill out the necessary forms
It's also possible to just fake this form lol
And get arrested for doing so
This is the troublsome form for Matcha https://www.moorparkcollege.edu/sites/moorparkcollege/files/Admissions/dualenrollment.pdf
Only if you get caught
TRUE!!
Granted for you to sign up for classes you need counselor approval...
Just ask your counselor about Moorpark, explain to them that it's a community college in california that accepts any students even if they do not have a diploma or GED and that you're interested in taking just a couple of courses there
@ripe geyser
has anyone here taken a hs art class
is it any fun? i think im going to take it next year
The art field is always fun
And tbh… the more advanced u get, the more fun it is
Like i play with CSULB university’s orchestra and its a blast during each rehersal
That's diff... He's talking abt performance art/fine arts.
Not the humanities stream
oops sorry
Does anyone here have an interest in studying criminology?
Junior yr of high:
-Math 4 and 5 Honors
-AP Statistics
-APES
-AP Bio
-Chemistry
-Lifes Issues
-AP Lang
Senior yr:
-APUSH
-AP Gov
-AP Macroeconomics
-Law
-Women and Gender Studies
-Global Issues
-Calc 1
-AP Calc BC
-Classical Mythology
-Grammar and writing skills
-Physics
Is this a good high school plan? Idk if I want college, my main interests are Math and History/Politics, I kinda like science too, English I’m decent at but hate, I haven’t taken any AP’s yet bc I’m a sophomore, all these classes will meet my requirements for graduation
Bro
@wise forge
pls don’t ping our staff (unless they asked) for this kind of stuff
🫶
Bro
Someone said the N word
Thats why I pinged him
alr
Jeez
you don’t need the attitude
mistakes happen and i wasn’t rude
id prefer the same thing back
I didn’t give attitude?
I accept the apology
The attitude don't need you

Hi! So I just got into my major in industrial and systems engineering and the presentation for the major was pretty interesting but I looked at the environmental engineering presentation as well and it seemed pretty interesting too... and I'm not a math person so I wanted to know which major would u choose if u were in my shoes... I just want to know ur opinion!
wanted to know if this schedule is good for next year. Im planning on going into CS, and as for college don't really know where yet, but im trying my best in high school. As for my graduation requirements im prety much on track with that.
-Spanish 2
-Cybersecurity Operations
- AP Precalculus
- AP world history
- English honors
- AP/DE bio
- Health and PE
What year is this?
Trash
^
trash
Elaborate
is that all the classes ur gonna do?
u have 24hrs in a day and thats all ur gonna do?
What
no de? no online? no summer? no sa? no 0 per?
Well the thing is for this you have to fill out the MOU form
and that means asking your college or school
and usually, they would recommend your local cc
but yeah we don't have as many asynchronous course options. And ou courses last an entire semester
It's a good schedule.
W
Yeah, thats plenty of AP's
i dont think so
but tailor your extracurriculars to something you're interested in
Where are you doing the anatomy online course?
Also like his schedule has many aps
it would probably be difficult to manage thatt
I am doing student government and I kind of regret it because it does not reflect my passions
along with de and sa
so at home ig?
A lot of the classes im doing i am passionate abt
yeah, and thats good. But your extracurriculars should reflect you as a person more so than your classes
huh?
NO I'm asking like who is offering the anatomy course to u
Okiee
the district
/school
district online courses are good
Wait duck how much time does de take per week for your district
you can fit them in anywhere
per class?
yeah
Is anyone here sitting for their A Levels? Specifically the May-June variant.
Wait would AP Psychology be Managable senior year?
1 hr
yeah I've heard it's free
sophomore
Isn’t it just loads of memorizing
for sophomore its good, if you don't plan on going to like MIT or Harvard you will be fine
just ramp it up a little for junior
i am trying to go to mit
yeah
wait why?
Alrighty
Ok, then you are going to have to ramp it up a lot for Junior
3 aps is decent soph year
my school doesn't really have too many aps for sophomore year
It's not bad, just for harvard/mit your competition will have more
put that in your application
or say that atleast
u dont need to
they alr know
How???
Most sophomores do 1-2 Aps
theres a program that they use (im not showing u)
a sophomore doing 3 aps is good
it's about rigor
it's not about having more courses
lol
try not to die
yea
what about ecs
yeah thats good
yeah its good its just not 4% acceptance rate good
ok so for mit
What we look for
and one thing
continue working on individual prijects
projects
they love the maker portfolio
Math and research for MIT imo
like?
@ripe geyser
Is there a way to get around asking your school to fill out the MOU form
also will you be getting an associates by the end
Also tell me more about the chem course I have to do it before soph year starts
honetly, thats a lot to fo your senior year, so probable not a good idea.
it looks like you have a block schedule (4 classes a semester) ?
Make ur senior year easy to combat senior itis and to allow for college app time
those are like another fulltime class
4 classes every quarter
Some classes are a semester and some there a few classes (like APUSH) thats a yr
Depends on the class
o
If a class is 1 credit its a semester
If its 0.5 credits its a term/quarter /half of a semester
Wis
Yes
I embarrass everyone in my math class aswell bc im a god
Im choosing to take more math, as of rn I have more math credits there I need
End oh HS I’ll have 9 math credits, you only need 3 for graduation
yeah
it must suck tho
cus you have to take all of those classes leading up to Calc
cus in college, you take like 2 sem b4 calc
and you have to take up to Math 5 honors
but it seems slow lol
if ya love math wouldn't you wanna take BC faster
or the equivalent thereof
i am taking BC Junior year
and Calc 3 and Linear ALg/Diff equations senior
You have to take BC Senior year at my school, as Math 4 and 5 Honors are precalc courses and Calc 1 Is also required for leading up to it
yeah
A full year of precalc 💀
its a 4 week class durin the summer at my local CC
lol
yeahhh
Btw AP Gov is required or you can take the baby version of it
Is it
my school makes it a full year, and the class is super easy and boring, and i could pass the test rn
i could get a 5 without even taking a gov course
Oh
yeah
I heard its of moderate diff
is that even fun?
I mean
i assume
i am a us history nerd
i can't take it sadly
but
i'd assume its fun
i tutor it
and its pretty easy
A lot of them are quarter classes
What History Classes should I take for my freshman and sophmore years
You usually take US History in Soph year and for Freshman year I believe you can take MUN Global Issues class
depends on school
never heard of MUN Global Issues
Should I take a third year of Spanish language it’s optional not sure any recommendations?
Usually if you want to go straight to UC from high school they recommend three years of language classes, but ultimately it's up to you if you wanna take it
UC?
You mean college
Universities of California
Which AP Spanish class is better Lang or Literature
Which science should I take, Biology, Chemistry, or Physics (you can suggest some combinations)
Depends on what you want to major in
I was thinking of doing AP Spanish Lang but not sure if Literature is a better since my school offers both of them
Okay thank you👍
Is Triple Science, Computer Science, DT and German a solid choice for GCSEs?
I decided to drop geography but idk if that's a good choice
Deadline to choose options in 7 hrs
I'm rlly stuck
God*
Well I really recommend lang first
unless you already know spanish
Because lit is like analysis of spanish literature, kind of like AP english lot
lit
I’m going to change my English 4 next year to AP English Lit
cool!
good idea
I hope you do well!
I will try to talk with my counselor cause I really want to take some AP courses
I'm in AP Lit right now, and I have really enjoyed it. Lots of analyzing different novels and passages. You have the freedom to dive as deep as you want into anything and write about how authors convey a specific theme or idea to their audience.
Nice
stats ftw
its a super helpful course you'll find being used in a lot of majors, especially STEM
As a rising freshman who has taken algebra 1 and geometry and is scheduled for gt bio next year would ap computer science principles be appropriate in fulfilling my tech credit? I want a slightly challenging class but I definitely dont feel like a career path in tech is for me
Yeah CSP is good if you don't want to take a carrer in tech
Or else I would've recomended CSA
Would apcs be too difficult (as compared to apcsp)
probably not tbh
how hard is APUSH compared to APWH
same with my school
it depends for the class based on school
but generally the exam for apush is more difficult
Is it too much to take 4 APs, and 2-3 dual enrollment (college courses) for senior year?
no though it depends on if you can handle it/how much work it is
No
Nah but depends on the aps
yes
most of the time yes
unless you’re Borger, yes it’s too much
While were on that topic, would AP Bio, AP Gov, AP Statistics, and AP Lang be considered too much
All in the same yr btw
Not really, but it would depend on your strengths in those subjects
Well, I really love math, really love Social Studies, Science is cool, not a huge fan of english
Then I would go with those Aps because Lang isn't that hard
Alright bet
Nope that should be fine!
i mean make sure that you have enough time for other things
that could depend on how difficult that is
I am planning on taking AP Econ (not gov cause I already got those credits), AP Precalc, AP English, and not sure what my fourth class would be yet (might just be an honors or another AP) and than 2-3 college dual enrollment courses
It's mainly just a free GPA boost from what i've heard
I may just take it senior year because ill take the GPA boost + I'm already taking 3 APs and completing the IB diploma that year as well 😭
Ehhh you’ll be fine most likely as long as you’re good at managing work
I’ve got five aps next year one honors and a dual credit class
No biggie
As long as you can manage work
Agreed
Man, I wish I could just do a half day and do only dual enrollment
some people are lucky lol
Dang- respect 🫡
Wish you luck, and thanks
these are my 9th grade classes, what should i do in 10th grade? im probably gonna do alg 2 trig, AP comp sci principles, and AP world history. idk what else to do though, and how i can proceed with 11th and 12th grade classes after that
i recommend not taking apcsp since it's kinda a useless class tbh
unless u want college credit or a gpa boost ig u can take it
apcsa is much better
do yall think ap csp help with ap csa? i have no prior knowledge in coding so does it help set some foundation
nah u dont need prior knowledge for apcsa
take french all 4 years
just standard algebra 1 is good enough
how hard is it without prior experience?
not too hard tbh
think of that class as solving a puzzle
combining lines of code to solve the puzzle
apcsp is basically useless
only thing good is a gpa boost
but if ur gpa is already good enough i rather stay away from it
because colleges may not accept apcsp for college credit
bro beefin with apcsp
what do u learn in csp
im not wrong, people also agreed eith me
idk i never took csp
but i did look at the overview of it
im just trollin
it’s basically csa
my school dont offer csa sadly
dam
what benefit does 4 years have on 3. my school says 2 is required and 3 is reccomended for college
different curriculum
if college recommends you to take 3
take 3
so you may have a better chance of getting into your favorite college
3 will prolly be fine too
Depends where you are aiming/your college
but for the most part, if you want to go to a competitive college, taking 4 years is normal and should be expected
il prob see if i french is easy and if i want to continue learning it
cuz ive done a little on duolingo and i like it
i also might want to do something else in 12th grade instead of language
curriculum moment
i hate french but i have to take it for 2 more years 😭
i didnt know colleges wanted you to take more than 2 years of forigen language
i was so dissapointed when i found out
Not all
U can do none and go to cc
U of m?
michigan
Switch the language if you hate it that much
they dont require 4 years but itll look better on my app
nah its not the language
i hated taking spanish in elementry
Then dont take it?
french is the best language, i just find language classes boring
switch to chineseeeee
Best to u or what
Lmaooo
and I mean boring is better than hard
to me
Chinese have over like 2k characters
obv its not the best language in the world
more like 50k
“Best” is very subjective
my school dosent that
nah its not a horrible classs
just my least favorite
Then go to another school? Or cc or sa or de
nah im not bouta switch over a lanaguage class lmao
what’s your stance on Michigan vs ohio
damnnn okay
french is shit language
Will Taking German 1 and 2 in the same year, and skipping German 4 to take AP German be ok, since Harvard requires 4 years of a language
I'm doing something similar except with spanish III, IV, and AP Spanish.
would you be taking german 1 first semester and german 2 2nd semester?
i wouldnt reccomend taking a 2nd year lanaguage class without prior knowlage in the class
Should I take AP Spanish ? Or Spanish III even if I got a low grade (c) in Spanish II………to possibly balance out my low grade
Honestly the only reason I'm going the Spanish route is to get into an Ivy League, and since Spanish is a beneficial language in case I want to learn other romantic languages
Dang
@ripe geyser lol muted?.
FRRR AGAIN
Can anyone help me select on what math class I should take next year? (Is this the channel to ask in?) Calc AB or BC
take AB if math isnt your strongest suit, but you want rigor
take BC if you are good at math
What’s the big diff between them
BC has 2 extra lessons and some extra topics on lessons in compare to AB
so BC is a bit faster than AB
How difficult are these classes?
calculus are fairly hard because it's a concept you never touch before
if math isnt your strongest suit
i rather take some easier class and take calc during uni/college
although, AB is a fairly useful class to take
so it's recommend to take AB if you dont want to take BC and you also want rigor
Okay thank you
you're welcome
I wanna take calc during high school so I can get a B or C and it won't count towards my college GPA lmao
it will be taken at a university still
but
yeah
what happened
wait really it won't count
Werne't u doing like BC
Nothing
ye
classes taken b4 transfer don’t count towards college gpa
so
bc not
Does anyone know how much trig graphs are deeply focused on in honors precalculus?
Like how many units
Does dual enrollment go towards ur college gpa?
I'm looking at wut I want to do towards Junior and Senior, but I can't decide if I want to take AP stat or AP Calc BC for one credit. I just want to know which course will be more useful in the future.
have u took AB?
If you’re looking into a stem major at a competitive university, BC is def the way to go
If you feel as if you can’t get a B or A in the class, turn to AB
depends on the transfer college
I know for a lot of UCs they don’t
Plan in taking AB
A lot of my friends are taking AP Calc AB this year and are looking like they are going to get high scores on the test. Had I had the opportunity I would've defintely taken an AP Calc class before the end of high school
Yes
Thx
is taking geo over the summer hard
nah
cuz i wanna take alg 2 trig for 9th grade but my parents are saying it could be hard
i took it over summer from 8-9 and played coc in class the entire time and got a 93
i have 100% in alg 1 tho so im doing fine
okay but fr i kinda self learned it before hand, you should have a basic understanding of geo
honestly? i recommend fast tracking and getting a tutor and speed running the course with them if you’re not confident
it isn’t that hard though
especially if you’re a quick learner
and DEFINITELY worth it
im confident i can do it but my family is suspicious
then prove it to them
my school required ab befor bc
im doing comp sci pathway so i feel like statistics and calc will both be important. the reason i wanna take alg 2 anyway is to fit them both in
i dont think so
probably
id say honors precalc doesn't go over like the graph of trig functions a lot cuz that's alg ii, but it does do polar coordinates and parametrics
Bruh
Don't give this advice because of a weird superstition
There's no hate for advancing your education
well yeah. If you can get statistics in as an elective(so do two maths at once because stats is pretty easy). However, you could also i guess skip stats if u wanted to, because you'd learn the stats that u NEED in comp sci classes
go BC and then calc 3
idk in my school
I mean people who've never gotten anything lower than As before have gotten Bs and Cs in that class
so its difficult for us at least
And what about the benefit of learning
Not everybody has time do it by themselves
I mean if it's available do it
Its as simple as taking the iniative
initiative*
Believing correlations is weird
And idk if the correlations are even accurate
Literally most of the people that are going to go to t20s from my school took Calc III
is AP Physics 1 hard?
AP Phys 1, 2, and C are prob the hardest tests yeah
but since they are so hard the curve is usually very forgiving
I took Honors Physics this year (freshman), and I am entering AP Physics 1 next year. How difficult will it be?
If you're taking honors phys i think you'll be good
usually the hardest part of physics is getting in the mindset of solving tough problems
so youll alr have experience with that
oh ok. thanks!
Is taking ap Chem without taking a prior Chem class okay?
Honestly it’s probably not a good idea
I haven’t taken ap Chem but I have taken honors Chem and I struggled granted it was during covid so I didn’t really learn anything
But idk how difficult ap chem is I would assume it’s very difficult especially with no chem experience
But do what you want to do
Ik for my county, we had to take Chem II as a prerequisite
Guys I'm still deciding in the future if I want to take AP Stat, AP Calc BC or AP Physics I. Which is most useful and which one is least useful?
They all are good
my school requires taking Chem honors before AP cham
same with Bio
Bio is a requirement for me
Even though I'm not interested in bio and would rather take Chem II
My school requires honors bio, alg2 and geo
I'm in Hon Chem I
And tbh
I'm getting the hang of concepts quite well
I honestly enjoy chem
if you are good at Chem honors
I might just do it since I have so much passion for the class but I'm just scared it might be too hard
then defenitly take AP chem
If u have passion then u can succeed
wait
do you have any prior
chem experience
Not at all 😭
Oh
Speaking of learning over the summer
My Dad wants to teach me C+++ even tho I'll learn in AP CSP
Yeah I mean I'm excpecting summer hw for the class
yeah but those arent typically that hard
Is there anything you would recommend me to do?
but since you didnt learn chem i recomend taking a class
thats what im doing for AP Physics
even though i did honors
I took honors physics, I just had a teacher that taught it poorly
Physics is still on the radar for me
and shes the same eatcher for AP
I'm doing really well in alg2 honors rn, so is that skill set enough for ap chem
im not sure
about the math aspects
Or would it require calculus
idek what kind of math is required for chem
yeah
Yeah as long as if there no calculus or pre calc I think it shouldn't be too hard hopefully
there might be pre calc
I don't think it's super advanced
Chem isnt as math based as physics
but tbh i have no idea what happens in chem
thats in AP?
Is it manageable
chem honors is completly different than AP
But the thing is
and more in depth
Is that they tend to specialize
Such as Physics C: mechanics I think is one of them
Anyway
Chem I is half of it
The ful Chem curriculum is divided into Chem I and Chem II according to my teacher
How hard
U'd probably have to do Chem I and Chem II
My school
I have to take both
Before AP
My school does not require chem before ap chem
Makes sense
Wat about an AP Math course?
Yeah no, I would have to do ab and pre calc first
What sucks at my school is that you have to take ap calc ab with ap physics as a must
Then AP Calc AB
Wut if I did my AP Calcs and AP Chem in the same year?
Bruh
Oof
I'll see wut I can fit
But I will
How hard is AP Lit
Do AP Spanish.
i heard the test for that is really hard
Another thing, with ap chem, im also planning on taking apush or ap phyc, would I have time to sleep?
louie 💀
You must have a nice teacher 💀
We have argumentative essay and mcq and 5 hour hw each week
AP Gov is the only AP I'm taking this year
Same
Next year is AP US History and AP CSP
1 tech ed credit is required in my county to graduaye
AP Gov is mid
Stat will kill u
For AP Gov, you just memorize some documents
And Supreme Court cases
So basically should I just fuc# around and find out by taking ap chem
Now that's a science experiment
Yeah just expirement and see what happens
Oof
The strangest thing is
Collegeboard has no APs for health
Feels like there should be one
Idk
Human Anatomy
easiest AP????
Yea would make much sense
Phys or CS
CSP
whats CSP
Ap physics c
AP Art History - Two of the most uselss classes combined into 1. class
Nah business principles sounds hella suck
What's csp
Computer Science Princples
my school doesnt have European History or Afro history
My world languages at school are spanish and french
Lowkey wish my school offered ap euro
What Spanish are you in rn
I'm taking Spanish III next year
Same, does your school have Spanish 4
Yes
I have to progress
AP Spanish is impossible unless you can fluently speak
Wouldn't you be taking Spanish 4 in senior year
Oh your set then
i took spanish 1 in middle school
Same
I got lucky bc right after that year they stopped thay
this year i have spanish 2
Honestly I'm good at Spanish
I watch Spanish TV
Oof
I had a good Spanish II teacher
There is one teacher who hoards the Spanish III classes and is awful
The Spanish IV and AP are the same but I heard are decent
Don't take french in my school
Although the french teacher also teaches Spanish.
How can I take an IB class?
Is there like an ap test
How exactly can you take an IB Class?
You prob have to pass it right
I'm not one of those 900 😦
But hey
AP is still decent
I live out in the countryside
A shame
Dang
I want to go to Princeton
Very close to where I live
If I can jack up my GPA and take extracurriculars seriously, I think I have a shot.
whats a good GPA
4.8
Wdym less credit
Everyone technically has a shot
So would you say IB is worth it cause diploma?
Im an 8th grader rn so im trying to decide if I wanna go down AP or IB
Seems to me like ib is better
But I've never taken it
But the advantages outweigh AP
@ripe geyser why you got layoffs from the role and muted?.
Wait doesn't IB also cost money tho
Are these good classes for sophomore year if i want to get into a top school
i really want to go to princeton or a uc for computer science/engineering but idk if my classes are good enough
Its whatever
i’m in this program where i’m required to be atleast honors level for every class i take and get a B average in the class or else i get kicked out
ok one sec thanks
my family’s extremely strict and bc of culture and religion i can’t move out until i’m married so i’m trying to get into a top uni far away so my parents will let me leave
they have it but i think it’s juniors and seniors only
i only chose to take it bc i was bored and had time for another elective ☠️
my family doesn’t gaf if the university is religiously friendly they’re not like that but they use religion to justify their cultural beliefs
LAC has most?.
People will force you to do this stuff?.
Or in club ?.
All people do this or few do ?.
So should I drop out the plan of studying in usa colleges?.
More like peer pressure. Yes possibly if that is not what you want
I have Italy University as a backup option
