I cant do that cuz my cc doesnt offer what i want so i need to take it at a different cc
yeah
I need to be 16 so I can take it at another one which offers all of the classes
i mean a junior
my brain fucked
i am 16
ignore that
ignore what? (:
Does doing 2 language aps look good?
Look good to which/what factor/s?
Wdym?
I’m already planning to do ap Japanese since I already speak it, but should I also do it for Spanish? Or is that not worth it?
I’m not planning to go into something language related if that makes sense
it doesnt
Like a major that uses that language
yes then go for it
majors like linguistics or a certain culture study, taking a few languages will good
although if you can take a language test and put that instead, that's fine as well
But if you aren’t doing something like that, it’s not worth it?
like if theres an online Japanese certification test or something you can take, you can list that down instead of taking it as an AP
I wouldn't say it's not worth it, but there are definitely better things you could be taking instead
I just thought maybe also doing Spanish would sort of show that I went an “extra mile”
Ok thx
What's your preferred major?
Something social science related or stem
Yeah, then I'd try to stick to one language AP, and spend the other AP on physics, calc, stats, bio, chem, something like that.
You can still showcase your fluency in the 2nd language with some sort of exam you could probably take somewhere
Ohh, makes more sense
it's all up to you really
but for STEM, I wouldn't put too much of an emphasis on languages. Being bilingual as it is, is good enough
Whatever you deem to be worth it is what's worth it lol
If you genuinely want to take AP Spanish then I see no reason not to
My only recommendation is to not self-study AP classes
There's a lot of stigma against people who self study and it generally harms your application more than it helps
Doing it once or twice is fine (especially if you take a related class or it's for a subject that you want to clear the gen ed requirements for) but anymore isn't recommended
Do you know why that is?
Will keep that in mind, thx
It's mostly because the AOs think that you have poor time management skills
If you do it more than once or twice most AOs at top schools will usually ask the question "if this person's application is like this then I wonder how good it could've been if they had spent their time on things they enjoy?" and then reject you
I need help with something guys
What should I do in uni lol
Can’t decide
I like science physics Chem bio and social what should I do
who told u this?
Director of admissions of USC
I asked him a quesiton taht was like "I'm taking IB classes but I also want to take the AP exam variant, is that a good idea?" and he explained that if it's an equivalent class or a class you're taking at a regular/honors level then it's probably fine. The problem really only comes if you're taking a self study in a class you've had no experience in at all
is it true that final exam grades and first semester exam grades will be on your transcript?
No, but they will still affect your GPA
Unless your school puts them on your transcript
Then yes, they will appear on your transcript
Different schools have different transcripts after all, if you want more information about your school specifically ask your counselor for information about your transcripts
oh alr, i kind of hope it will not be on my transcript lol
im just a bit worried about it because im taking a few honor classes
See pins
no one cares if ur worried or not
hey guys, I'm planning to take ap lang, apush, ap calc ab, ap research, ap bio, computer science and programming and spanish 3. do you guys think taking ap chem would be a good idea instead of ap bio?
major?
comp sci
I'm planning to take ap physics in my senior year shuld I take it next year instead?
oh yes
take ohysic s
sorry wrong reply
take physics
not bc of major
i mean partially bc of major
but it’s more math involved and cs is also math involved
you’ll have an easier time with it
ah ok but will it be very stressful? I heard physics is hard
Arguably the hardest ap
hm so what do you think I should do?
do spanish 3 in the summer
via sa or de
do you think you’d be interested?
what is sa or de?
special admit, dual enrolement
I'm not exactly sure I do enjoy math tho
then go for ap ohshics
I plan on taking ap spanish senior year so wouldn't it be a problem if I forget everything over the year?
y ap spnaihs?
Special Admit or Dual Enrollment
They're both college courses you take in high school. The difference is SA doesn't give you high school credits while DE does
honestly idk lol to boost my college apps cuz by taking only 3 years I'm just taking the bare minimum to get accepted into UC
I can do DE over the summer?
then do de spanish if its offered
yes
If it's offered ye
if u NEED the extra yr, just do sa spanish and get the seal of bilitaricy
in the summer or something
or online or whatever
hmm so in my college apps it will still show as me doing spanish 3 and ap spanish if I do it thru sa?
no
its gonna be on ur college transcript
which they will see
but it still gives u seal of bilitaricy
and there is no ap spanish thru sa
sa is the college class where u go to the lecture hall or online
so it only offers spanish 3?
or just do computer science and programming during the summer or online
its a college class
but if theres the equivalent, it might offer everything
I'm doing the Harvard CS50 class but it doesn't give credit and idk where csp is offered online
doesnt give college credit?
I mean just like credit in general
mabey cuz ur not enrolled at the school, u might be part of an org at harvard but not admitted at harvard
I'm doing it to get certification
for?
just for the course so I can apply to internships
its a pre req class?
no but like I wanna show I know some programming languages
What I meant was, if it was going to be related/requirement/helpful to your future goals. For me, I don't take language classes at school because I'm taking STEM courses, and that's not something I can teach myself easily. Language lessons can be self taught for me and it's easier to get resources online and from someone who's fluent in those particular languages I'm studying. I also asked which or what factors you wanted to see, because speaking/having studied lots of languages don't matter in most universities. Like they are impressive and important, but it's just one of the minor factors to show. That's because you could show something bigger aside from taking a couple of AP languages.
I mean to get the certificate you gotta do some projects as well
wait really?
i thought all cali schools did
Mine doesn’t
edx courses don't give credit
Not necessarily
I think your advice once again is too localized
Because for example
IN my school
to get a seal of biliteracy, you have to either get a 4 or 5 on the ap exam or take a separate biliteracy test
the courses simply don't give it to u
Oh, for us its just 4 yrs of foreign lang or equivalent
Any good collages providing bachelor in finance and technology in UK or India I'm looking for list right now
U dont look for a list
U make 1
@cinder gorge which country are you from
In the Uk it’s pretty much all of them
For making 1 he need to look at 1
To produce one, he must examine one
I think he's trynna say that hunter should only aim for one ....
But tbh that's not how clg apps work... He should prob apply to few reaches, targets and safeties.... (correct me if I'm wrong)
Nope
U can just make 1
Not that hard
U just search
Yeah, u right, i dont think lawleit knows what hes talking about
Are we talkin abt the clg list or colleges here?
I think he's just confused here..
College list
Like for me, i only have like 6 colleges in mind
Yeah
India
Ty but wouldn't I need bba first
Yeah
Tbh I think IIM and Christ college banglore are some good ones.
I'm in Grade 10 and debating over whether to take 3 semesters of French or 3 semesters of this course called Digital Arts which is stuff like photography, editing, graphic design, animation, and 3D Modeling any advice?
Just do all of it
I cant do both
It's either French or Digital Arts
Any advice?
Advice on what
Y not
Not enough room in schedule
Then make space
Can't
Grade 11 S1
Math 31
Elective
Biology 20/30/35 AP
English 20-1 Adv
Grade 11 S2
Math 35 AP
Computer Science 20
Biology 20/30/35 AP
Chemistry 20 Adv
Grade 12 S1
Chemistry 30/35 AP
Elective
Physics 30
Computer Science 30
Grade 12 S2
Chemistry 30/35 AP
English 30-1
Physics 35 AP
Elective
This is my schedule and there's nothing I can take online or remove
Yes u can
Online isnt ur only option
What else is there?
De, sa, summer
What's sa?
Special admit
We don't have de at our district and all the courses I'm taking rn cannot be taken in the summer
6 is a good number
but with increasing competition
u should have more
What about sa
Or summer
I recommend doing french
Sa?
Reason: Because I am super bias. But like I honestly think another language is also pretty important.
Then get de
the ignorance 😡
Anyways, but if you find yourself really talented in digital arts, then I would say give up the french 😦
Special admit?
Special admit is open to everyone, not just high school students
it is no where near the same as DE
high school students that do special admit are just abusing a program what it was not meant for
then whats special admit
special admit is the process by wherein unis and colleges accept students who don’t necessarily meet the qualifications for admission
so like, UCs use it to admit those from disenfranchised backgrounds
or com college use it to accept those who never got a high school diploma
or felons
/ sex offenders
Yeah, kids going to top colleges do this like junior/senior year. From your schedule, I think it looks managable and your classes dont seem too bad. AP Art History, APES, and AP Research aren't bad. I would try to review a bit of Bio and APUSH a bit if possible so you have some basic info before going into school.
It's definitely challenging, but if you're confident in the subjects, I think it's a plausible schedule.
I don't think it's that big of an overkill since you have some easier APs in there to balance it out. I have no idea what your major is, but overall this isn't that bad compared to the crazy triple-science APs I've seen others take.
Also note that taking a ton of APs doesn't guarantee admission anywhere. Not saying you won't get in, but make sure to keep good ECs, good connections with your teachers, good SAT/ACT score (if you're not test-optional), and having fun in highschool ontop of your classes!
Goodluck! I think your schedule is definitely manageable!
hey guys
do you think this schedule is okay?
for 9th grade
Earth Science
Geometry honors
Pre-AP world history
English Honors
intro to cybersecurity
Spanish 1
It looks good and relaxing to me for a 9th grader.
no
i said no
what should i change?
everything
cuz u didnt ask
maybe try sharing what you took in 9th grade?
im not in 9th grade
please explain
im in 10th grade
i didnt take 9th grade seriously cuz its a time a relax and just have fun
and i believe that u should do the same
What 😭😭
Bruh I’m so scared cause everything is gonna be gpa
idk borger, just sent you a request
Thats not true
Y
ikr
borger
But like
“Why is it gpa”
Bc that’s how the school is set up 😭
cause you need it to get into college
Just gpa aint gonna get u anywhere
hell no
kinda true
it dont work like that
Exactly but it’s part of it
so ur saying all my ecs like my 2 jobs, founder and pres of a club, co-founder and vp of another club, CSULB orchestra, music comps, etc; doesnt come into play in college apps??
yes, part of it but its not just gpa
Ik
just gpa isnt gonna take u to a lot of places
ok??? and?
But having a low gpa doesn’t look good does it ?
hell no
just saying like studying is harder bc of my family
they always compare me to others
its not harder, they just want more
I’m not saying everything relys on gpa, I’m just saying it’s important to maintain a decent gpa
ok? and? just be better then them
It’s not that simple.
yeah ik, i dont have all my ecs for nothing
u work towards it
Does ec stand for extra curricular
like i didnt get a scholership my freshman yr for nothing
nor was my opportunity to play with a University's orchestra
yeah, you have to practice for months
or even years
so far, its 7 yrs
y would i
ok? and i think the current friends i have is cool; ie the people who got accepted to harvard, prinston, ucla, upenn, yale, etc
soo?
so y do i need u in my dms?
idc if you need me or not, but i need u
for?
thats good for 9th
thanks man
to be better i think
at?
everything
what if i persuade you?
go ahead
first, everyone starts from a weak point
i know that you prefer the higher level people but
ngl getting better at everything is something u do on ur own
you need to learn disipline and commit to improving yourself
^
helping someone doesn't hurt
if theres certian things u wanna improve the internet is a great place to find resources
❌
true true
But sometimes surrounding urself with successful people helps in the process
There are countless high quality schools that guarantee admissions based on GPA
yeahh
t100?
and borger i assume is one of them
but its also hard to expect someone online to go outa their way for u randomly
What is t100??
Something
I believe Tulane has guaranteed admissions for anyone inside of Lousiana and has a GPA of a 3.0 or higher
Ohh thx
Something is very vague don’t u agree?
Oh wait I almost forgot about UC Merced as well lol
ok sooo
Then there's UT Austin, Texas A and M, and Texas Tech which yes they aren't solely GPA they still will guarantee admissions with you being in a high end of your class
ASU as well
i have to go to bed now
Here's some schools with guaranteed admissions, most of these programs are only for GPA and nothing else: https://www.collegekickstart.com/blog/item/colleges-offering-assured-automatic-guaranteed-admissions-class-of-2027
just having a good GPA gets you into a lot of places lol
Doesn't UCI and UCD do a similar thing as well with top 10%
Do they?
i thought
oh rlly???
uhh borger idk if you're here but just add me you're not gonna regret it
yes i will; i will regret it
i know UC as a whole guarentees you into admission into a campus if you are top 10, i just think most of the time they get thrown there
huh
gpa is like the most important thing
i guarantee you won't. i keep my word.
If you're from cali and are in the top 9% of high school students using their requirements you're guaranteed admissions into some campus
ok i rlly need to go now
top 9 dam
ur a 8th grader
so close
Doesn't have to be UCI or anything, just a campus you didn't apply to
so?
So theoretically you could apply to UC Merced and if you get denied there you can insead be guaranteed admission into UC Berkeley lol
💀
i wonder how you know if youre in the top 9 if ýour school doesn't do class rank
Berkeley goes for Gpa too? Tf
the-
mine doesn't
These r the types of words I be making up 😭😭
legit every top school does
yeah, our school doesnt do ranking
It's based on their index system
which is?
imma go
Bye Natali
Mine doesn't too... Actually in my school there are around 200 students in 12th grade lol
DAYM
So an example for me, I'm taking a total of 59 courses which'd mean that I need at least a 3.8 to be in the top 9% of cali students
Note: 1 course is for 1 semester
So you actually usually double the amount of courses lol
59 courses isnt bad if its per semester
Yeye
ill have 44 courses that are considered A-G I think
between sophomore and junior
this all of hs or just sophore + junior?
That's:
7+6+5+5+2+11+11+6+6
All of high school
9-12th grades
10-11
ohh, thats very do-able
❌
For this system it's your UC GPA and every course you've taken throughout high school
o
how do i know what A-G req i completed?
I'm assuming this system doesn't work for intl students... Ryt?
ILL HAVE 82
cuz i just do classes and hope it covers for something
If your GPA is above a 3.6 you will have a guaranteed spot at the UC system
You won't know where
But you'll have one
S i c k
Subjects required for freshman applicants.
lemmie see how many ill be doing
that means i don't have to apply to a safety UC
i did 19 classes this yr LMAO
💀
damn
DE does but in a weird sense
Each individual DE course counts for 1 semester rather than 1 year like on A-G
As DE courses are 1 semester long
And it's on an individual course basis
So theoretically you could do like 6 1 credit courses and it'd count more to your total than 3 3 credit courses
the a-g requires it be over 3 units or 4 quarter units
note this admissions guarantee only applies if the uni has open slots
damn my gpa is low, my freshman yr rlly killed me
freshman year doesn't count into UC GPA :)
yeah
I started DE the summer so i had a UC GPA of 5.0 for a bit
lmao
ONE COURSE IS CERTIFIED AS A FULL YEAR UNDER A-G THO
just not GPA
means ill have like 6 years of english under A-G
and 6 years of math
they won't count my science as science tho
cus no lab
i took bio anthro and will take bio psych
im planned to take 76 classes in my entire hs yrs
does health count in A-G?
de?
yeah i think so
ye
then my ass will have 83 courses planned
and im not counting PE or TA
or anything like that
im taking free 4th period
see your school
thats cuz ur doing more then 11 units of de, im only do 11 cuz im too broke
then prob not
No, im not counting those
Find a specific institution's A-G course list. View associated schools within a school district or network. List of online schools with A-G course lists. To search for A-G courses by title or type, use the A-G Course Search.
If it pops up in that list then it's A-G certified
then y's the # of classes so high?
nope not a-g
BC one of my classes is double blocked, and im taking 2 classes at a CC every semester
double blocked?
1 sm count as a full year
Theory of Knowledge is apperantly a weighted UC course
it's not weighted in my school but it's weighted in the UC system

wtf is that
It's a requirement you need to take for the IB
ahh
it's a course that discusses the nature of knowledge
Pretty much what it says on the tin
idk how to make my schedule more efficient
my school weights no honors courses or pre-ap courses except honors english 10, and then CTE english in some circumstances
Funnily enough UC system doesn't know that math HL exists lol
tbh... im kinda a late bloomer so life hit me kinda late
There's a lot of courses missing actually
I might have to ask my school what's up with that at some point
hm
I find it strange to give Algebra I a UC certification but not give IB Math HL one
dang

oh lmao
seems organized tho
organized and good looking are different
then what do u classify as looking good
cuz of band
marching band
Aite well don't take online courses lol
As I said give yourself as much time as you can for Senior year in order to make applications go by smoothly
y not
im taking a free period for one of mine lol
Ik you're gonna say some stupid shit like "yeah but I can handle my current schedule just fine". While that's true you still want to be able to fucking write your damn essays lol
make ur senior year as easy as possible
He needs more than just 1 free period lool
lmao
Also why the fuck are you taking AP Physics as a bio major that shit don't mkae any sense
mabey ill take out ap physics and have a TA period
i only have 15 classes scheduled for senior year
i mean.. ill have a TA period during junior yr spring semester
And I also encourage getting rid of Gov/econ and psych online
to work and whatever
Same reason
"only"
i cant
gov/econ is necessory for grad
Bro my school usually gets 3 classes schedule for senior year lol
compared to 23 junior lmao
6 semester units total
senior year
more like 30 ish
So wouldn't it be a better idea to drop wind ensamble for the year and then take AP Gov instead?
12 fall, 13/14 spring, 4 during the summer
my school rwquires we be in 2 academic classes senior year so thats why I have ap stats and ap chem
i cant, wind is band
band takes 2 periods during fall
psych and english don't count
what fucking school requires you to take 2 periods for band
congrats borger onreg
Yee yee ass scchool
ik, i hate marching band
my school does that too
its standard
yeah
So why not take them online Junior year then?
whos them?
AP Gov/Econ
do schools let you choose to not take those on campus senior year?
i thinkn junior is too packed
💀
Senior year is too packed lol
yeah ik lmao
If senior year is that packed that prolly means you're doing too much Junior year and it's harming you
we'll see how it goes
famous last words
so true
I fucking wish those super reactions were more obnoxious than they are
tf is a super reaction
das a super reaction
You can only do 5 though so I can't spam them to annoy the shit out of people
Cause discord doesn't want you to annoy the shit out of people
Scalesssss
Someone ping me?
my school offers AP french but its not A-G certified
What about de french but at the ap level
WAIT MY BAND CLASS ISN'T A-G
huh
I have an honors F category class lmfao
My CC isn't on there... does that mean my classes don't count for A-G?
well thats because it didn't exist before 216
2016
btw whats ur neuroscience class?
its at a magnet school
bc its a set
Its part of the english class
and the Psych class
they're all integrated together
no
ususally its for the dumb kids
that fail classes and stuff
but i just want a break so
yeah
ahh
we cant do that cuz the class is specifically designed for students who failed so i cant do english other the summer even tho the class is for failed students
yeah thats same
Are there any classes you should take the summer before your freshman year of college?
Like what
And i dont think u can
Cuz for colleges u get admitted for the season of fall and not summer
If you have the money and interested you could go on the summer study abroad program if your college has that
More of a fun thing i think and definitely if you dont have the money not necessary
Wdym
That would be really cool, but I don’t think I have that. I’m going to a state school with a 94% acceptance rate, so it’s hard to find a lot of opportunities outside of student organizations freshman year
Ur still gonna have to pay for the credits either way
The college im going to has a summer study abroad the summer before for freshman and earns credits, though seems like a mostly fun thing
Damn 94 is high
What college do u go to
Not gonna say but it is north of you
Yeah I had really good grades in high school though so I can get a lot of scholarships. The school also ranks top 3 in student happiness every year, so that is definitely a plus
Stanford??
The college i go to its state too but only 40% acceptance
No
But tbh i go to like 3 colleges sooo
Dang 40% is pretty competitive, definitely more competitive than most state schools
CA state acceptance rates tend to be higher
Ehh
It’s CSULB
No farther and im not saying
What yr r u?
Cali is super cool, I was looking at UC Berkeley and UCLA, but they are both super expensive if you are from out of state
Yeah UCLA is my #2
UCLA’s Campus looks beautiful, I’m trying to visit sometime
Technically 12th but sophomore standing for college
Yeah, i went there and i heard that the food is rlly good
There’s so much to do there, you would never get board
Hey guys- will taking Algebra 1 and regular science (not honors) hinder my chances of going to an ivy league? (i'm in freshman year and my main focus is more liberal, writing and english instead of science and math)
Yeah but if u take the wrong turn, ull get robbed lol
The LA area be kinda messy too tbh
And everything is soo expensive
Isn’t it pretty dangerous off-campus?
Very
I wouldn’t like that lol
Lol
Next yr i wanna organize a field trip thru my club but idk to UCLA
Cuz the buses costs soo much
Its like $500/bus
You should be fine, but if possible I would take geometry over the summer so you get a little ahead.
is that possible??
does that mean in sophmore year i can melt into the same course as the ones who started at geometry
Doesn't you school do it for you?
Our school covers most costs, what's left is collected through the students
like field trips have a 10$ fee, and the rest is paid by our school
Our school doesn't even do field trips 😐
If you haven't already taking high school chem will be useful for your genEd classes since many of them would ask for some background in chem
❌
Clubs organize their own field trips
Which sucks if you're a Mun president like me cause you need to organize like 10 field trips per year 💀
Schools don't actually organize anything
If you have a school-wide field trip that's always organized by either your class council (your class president), by your teachers, or both
All the school does is send it off to the district to be approved
You have funding for trips or you sponsor trip by your own?.
You fundraise money for trips by yourself
So what that usually means is I sell a hoodie for about 200 bucks and that hoodie just so happens to also contain a free field trip
That's the way I usually get around those requirements
You really sell your hoodie for trip
Yeah cause I can't sell a field trip by itself in my school district
So I instead just do a workaround where I give people a hoodie that just so happens to include a field trip inside of it
Where else r we supposed to get the $$$ from
For me i plan on selling food and setting up partnership with companies like panda express, 85 bakery, 7 leaves, etc
Link crew is non stop work lol
Dang that’s expensive
It better be like gucci or something lol
Can’t u apply for a grant from the district
Or the city
Cuz that’s what my neighboring school did
To where?
❌ our district is too small to provide that
Usually we go to LA or San Diego for a 3 day weekend inside of a hotel. 200 dollars for a 3 day hotel booking is actually stupidly cheap lol
But he said 200 dollar for a hoodie like you have luxury brand clothes
Oh wtf
U found a place for only $200?
Dang
What hotel is it
What about city
Btw i thought u go to the 2nd largest district in the US
And i thought u meant just to go there and come back the same day
Maybe they live on a hall or something
Who does that?
Mabey thats for other countries but here in US, we dont do that
you rich ppl
We dont do that
I took Chem my Sophomore year, but I haven’t taken AP Chem
who ever said we're rich
We get discounts
No I do not go to LAUSD lol
It’s 200 dollars and you get a hoodie + a field trip
What hotel? And how
Yo said you sold a hoodie for 200 bucks for a trip or you get hoodie with a trip?.
Hey rq guys
would you reccomend do ap pre calc and ap stats at the same time for junior year?
ap pre calc is a nice course to take if u want rigor
it’ll get in touch of concepts you need to do calculus
stats is basically optional
it depends on the major you want to take
its bc i want to do finance in college
well specifally stem orientied finance
@magic orbit
well
sorry for late response
does finance do anything related with data?
@autumn island
if that’s a yes
then yeah take ap stats
well no duhhh
ur good
well no, i want to take ap stats and ap pre calc both at the same time
I’m in 8th grade I’m taking Honors algebra 1 this year should I test out of geometry and go straight to algebra 2
I sold a 200 dollar hoodie that just so happened to include a field trip
Model UN students will get discounts during delegations. Usually about 40-60% off from personal experience
And also note we were shoving 4 people into a 2 person room lol
i wouldnt really reccomend doing that, your gonna be in a class full of juniors/sophmores and its best to take your classes in order
@magic orbit
Can you do it over the summer?
Or do you already know the basics?
Geometry is one of those subjects that pops up every now and then in topics like trig, algebra, precalc, but it's not that important.
so if you can do it quickly, id get rid of it (assuming math is not too big of an issue for you)
Math isn’t an issue for me, it’s the class I’m best at.
Then definitely find a way to skip geometry/take it over the summer like you said
Ok thx for your help
AP Chem?
I would say anything is manageable depending on who you are and other context
its not hard to take 6 APs if you have no extracurriculars or work or volunteering
so honestly, i can't say if it will be manageable, but in my context, they would be
Hi! So course selection has been over for a month but my school just announced that they are removing AP CSP as a course which is one of the ones I signed up for. I'm not sure which course would be a good alternative to it now. Can someone help?
(For reference, the other courses I am planning to take next year are APUSH, PreCalc, Eng 11, Art 1, AP Bio)
Ok that's fine
both of them are considered compartively easier math aps
That's fine if you have enough geometry knowledge!!
Ok so I'd recommend AP CSA, an alternate CS course, an engineering course, PLTW, etc.
Would it be beneficial to take it if I am planning for a medical path or should I take another science course instead?
u can do another science course
yeah
i didn't know about u doing med
Ah yeah sorry I should have included that.
but yeah u should do something like chem, anatomy, etc.
I don't meet the prereqs for AP Chem but I think I will consider anatomy.
Thank you!
If you haven't taken a prior chem course, I'd recommend you do that before taking AP chem
maybe honors chem?
AP Chem really just dives into the stuff and they spend very little time refining the basics
No offense, but you sound like one of those scam bots ;-;
nvm you are a bot
Mhm yeah I'm in chem honors right now, but I don't meet the prerequisites for AP Chem so I couldn't take it anyway.
Is it worth taking AP bio because I want more room in my schedule and I'm not going into anything bio related
Probably not then
if you're anywhere into CS or Business, there's no point
I'd argue for physics and stats, bio and chem are not needed
Yeah see that's what I thought but I still feel like I need to take it idk why
Wait is it easier to do bio online or physics
It depends on your learning style preference, quality & availability of online resources you receive or have, the difficulty/type of content in bio/physics that you're going to learn and how much you can cope through this online learning.
What do you guys think is the best buisness class to take as a elective
For me personally, I find Physics easier. It's just like primary school maths for me, even though sometimes word problems can be hard, but can manage and easily understand. Biology has a lot of memorization and deep reading comprehension levels to answer.
I’m taking economics next year
What are the optional electives (that are business related) at your school?
Alr here’s like a list not full but
This is good. Maybe you can also try accounting.
Okii let's see
Intro to buisness,economics,finance investing,personal finance,accounting,buisness management
I’m a freshman so
How many electives can you take? Or are you only taking one business elective?
My counselor says that personal finance and finance investing are only 2.5 credits so I take one of those half the year
1 or 2
Depends on your academic level
If your in accelerated English you get another free period
For elective
I need an alternative
Since I’m taking economics
My suggestion for you is to take accounting and economics. That's just me
Accounting is the process of recording financial transactions pertaining to a business. Also, accounting doesn't require complex maths. You just need middle school maths apparently (according to a friend of mine whose Dad is an accountant at an ANZ bank).
Wont the field of accounting need less people, as finances become more automated?
My knowledge in accounting or business is not solid. But I'm trying my best to help out.
Yeah. No need to do geometry or trigo I think. Just algebra, calculating interests and etc.
Got it. I was just wondering if you knew a lot about it. Kind of interested but i thought the career is not the best to go into if it faces that problem
I see. I heard that the Fintech career field is rising though now and to the future. Did you try considering that?
@severe meadow is geometry easy
Mabey
Personally, it was easy for me, especially the basics. However, each time I get to the next geometry level, it gets a little harder. You don't need to have a mathematician mind to be good at geometry. As always, you just need consistency in practicing to solve geometry problems. I don't know your math level, but I don't think it should be hard for you. Nothing is hard for too long if you practice and ask for help to guide you. Also, if something is hard for you, practicing 2 or 3 hours per day would be enough to advance or ensure you're maintaining the lessons you've learnt at a steady pace.
Yup, you’ll join them in alg 2, but check with your counselor first
is ap human geography easier or harder than ap psych?
So accounting doesn't really contain maths in it... But if you wanna be an accountant in the future you might wanna consider enrolling for applied maths. Also, accounting is reallyyyyy fun! Especially accounting for sole proprietorship once you know it's rules.
Also personal finance could be really good.even if you don't wanna pursue ur career in finance this class could really help you manage ur money and taxes and stuff.. also,it requires maths a lot...not sure abt the exact level of math since my school doesn't offer this subject but it's just a good elective. so I'd recommend taking personal finance. Now when to take and for how long..6 months/ a year depends on you.
Anyways, Goodluck!
whats the other prereq?
for my school its chem and precalc
also atleast concur enroll in calc
y do u ask questions that u know the answers to?
Does anyone know what the difference is between Statistics for Behavioral Science offered by the Math department vs the Psychology Department. they both cover the same requirement so is confuse.
mabey email the math dept
and ask them
its only for like 15min
lol
they are not fucking helpful and idek how they have jobs
i've called them and they were a bitch, i've zoomed with them and they were a bitch, and ive emailed them
and i say them and mean multiple
they don't offer inperson yet
cus covid
y cant u go to another college
lmao
the course catalog says theyre the same
idk why they have 2 different departments offering them
Will a high SAT or ACT score counter a low GPA for ivy leagues etc?
no
oh
mabey their the same cuz its the same class but its a pre-req for a different class
like 2 pathways for it
Stats by math dept will be more focused on data and calculations and stats by psy will be used for easy presentation of data and for research and all...
That's what I think but I could be wrong.
Definitely not. There are so many candidates, very competitive, many with very high GPA and ACT. Also gpa is just very important in any college admissions
depends
AP bio id not recommend online at all
if its like honors bio and you're alright in science, then it's definitely possible
the thing with science is that it's not always easy to do it online
math is different, but for science theres a lot to learn
all depends on you though
Is taking honors bio worth it if u don't wanna go into a biology field but are aiming for an ivy league
Clg list
If the only other choice is a non-honors class then yeah.
Plus don’t most schools ask for at least 1 year of biological sciences to begin with?
Yeah we are required to do one year of bio
Is this related to@the IB?
IB math AA is the only kind of math analysis I know of
If it’s IB then do math AA if and only if you’re doing the full IB
If not then do AP Precalc
no i thought it was different for your school maybe
Can I self study with online free video for AP Statistics and AP computer Science A only..... I have not taken other AP CLASSES
you technically can
but i dont recommend it
since motivation is hard to maintain
Uh rn? It's a bit too late to self study for 2 AP classes
But if you're talking about over the course of a year, yeah it's possible but I'd suggest actually taking AP Stats somehow cause it's just a genuinely useful course to have
AP Stats and AP Lang are arguably the only useful courses offered by the College Board
Y ap stats
Cuz it is
Knowing how to read and understand statistics in a way that makes sense and knowing how to divulge whether or not a statistic is truthful isn't just a useful skill for college, it's a useful skill for life
8 hrs teaching in gov school enough for ecs?.
ap stats is actually very important for most majors
Do as many as you can
especially stem majors
Not most, it's important for pretty much all majors
I really cannot think of a single major where stats isn't useful in, even the humanities like theatre, English, or art all benefit heavily from a strong stats understanding
Stats more useful then ap calc ab?
fair
Yeye
Y
But you should always take AB or BC first
ap stats is data analysis
Calculus is highly specific and isn't used in real life very often
and analyzing data is important
At least not nearly as often as seeing a data set or seeing a graph
But wont u have to do calc in college
❌
ap calc ab is for the college credit
usually taken by high schoolers for college credit
most colleges have you ending your math at college algebra for gened
Most colleges will have you end your math GenEd in Stats and College Algebra
Granted in your case Borger taking calc BC would be the best bet
@cinder gorge if possible, take calc BC and then Stats
I don’t
I can’t
How come?
Im in regular math rn and i need to do math 3 next yr and then precalc summer and calc ap senior yr
Theres no precalc honors available during the summer
Which is the pre req for calc ab
Can you not DE in precalc over the summer?
That should count as a precalc honors course
I dont think it’s available but ill check
It should work tho cuz i have a backup college lol
my school tells kids precalc is at the comm college over the summer, but that it won’t count as a prerequisite for any math class 💀
so theoretically if you take honors math 2, and then precalc, you are required to take a math class on campus and it can’t be calc bc you have to take honors math 3 for that lmao
Wait really
Next year..... I am india my school offers nothing....... Except IGCSE
Thats fine. Primarily in the US is where all of the AP classes are
Hi, I'm in the UK, and my school makes it optional to comply with the Ebacc subject specifications. Should I choose subjects that comply w the ebacc or choose the subjects i enjoy?
Thanks
I don’t wanna take personal finance
Tho
Yeah that's fine.. you can always watch yt videos on that to be aware..
Np:)
Are u in 12th grade?
Umm I'm not from us so I don't have any idea what ure saying..
Alr nvm then
Elaborate
It doenst matter
State testing only helps determine ur placement in college for its courses
Mainly to see how each school/state does and make modifications to the education system. I dont think it helps determines college placement at all
Well thats what i heard
There are different tests in college used for placements, like ALEKS
if anybody can help pls
Maybe CA system is different
Both
Oh :/ the thing is that I have to choose a language for the ebacc and I find languages in school harder than the subject I want to do and enjoy
If you have to pick between one or the other always pick the classes that’ll fulfil whatever requirements you need, even if it is EBACC
Ohk then, so I'll choose subjects that comply with ebacc ig
It's not compulsory I'm just asking which is better, to do the ebacc subjects or any subject I prefer
But ig I'll do the ebacc ones theb
Then
Not really
Yea he right same for like district
ok. it does nothing for that here
It might be like a dual subject area class
so like it counts for both math and psychology
Ap precalc should be easier and allow for credit
Well yeah
But like do you neeed to dive that deeply into stats?
Cuz I think the stats we learn in middle school is enough
is Biomedical enginnering a major which can gurrantee a job after undergrd?
idk if anything guarantees a jb
job
but like going to college and doing well gives u high chances of being in a job
I need to get a job really bad
cause my family has only 1 source of income
thats from my dad
i think experience and doing well in college would help. its very competitive, as so many people have the same degree, though not all have the same experience
Also doing interships are good too. Not a guarantee but increases the chance
Then get 1
I have 2 jobs
If i have 2 then u can prob find 1
Great, im 16
So what do u want me to do
Why
