And China
Yeah but then you would to live in china
Can someone please answer?
Thinking of kings I’ve been offered for medicine and basically anywhere in England I’m quite flexible to be fair but also depends
Help, what do I put for this?
Ur class schedule with alternates
Whatever classes you want to take that fulfill your school's requirements
What classes do you recommend for taking in Freshmen year.
Man it's freshman year just take whatever the fuck you want 💀
Try to double up on certain requirements so you have more freedom in the future but you're really fine
How though? So I just list every class? Or do you list all the electives?
@ripe geyser
u use ur writing tool to write down ur classes
?
I’m overthinking this
Including the required ones?
no duh
r u even reading what ur saying?
It says you list the classes and any alternatives on the same line
Every class
So an example schedule for me as an IBDP student:
0: IB Physics HL
1: IB History HL/AP Physics 1
2: IB SEHS SL/AP Chem
3: IB English Lit HL/AP Lang
4: IB Spanish SL/AP Spanish Lang/Spanish 3
5: IB Math HL/AP Calc BC
6: IB Theory of Knowledge/APUSH
THANK YOU
this is so much more clear to understand
What is this?
Is it some summer program?
It’s asb leadership
Guys is this good?
CALC BC
PHYSICS C
AP Chem
AP Bio
AP LIT
AP Us History
is this good?
AP Physics 1
AP Psych
AP Lang
AP Bio
AP Drawing (Studio Art)
AP Seminar
What yr
And personally i wouldn’t do any of those schedules
for jr year?
for our school two sciences is very hard to manage so i would prob only take one science
Umm
That schedule is ultimate death
Not only are u doing the three sciences
But then APush
And then after that Lit????
This schedules fine. You’re balancing the harder aps with easier aps
Id recommend doing ap lang first, also u don’t need all physics Chem and bio. Divide it over the years. Take bio or Chem the next ur.
Year*
oxford, cambridge, and imperial college london are the top universities i'd say
bro is taking the death course
No langauge course despite only being a Junior?
3 years of a 2nd language is recommended by most universities
I encourage dropping one of the science courses in exchange for your second language at whatever level you desire
Especially taking physic c which in my school is a two hour class
Idk how youre going to balance time too
thats just for ur school lol
Well there is different parts of it
I think two so that makes sense
Physic E&M
Idk thou my friend had that class I pick physic 2 ap because I was scared for physic c💀
As for this same thing, no 3 years of a foreign language
I would encourage dropping drawing or one of your sciences in exchange for a language course
or just do Spanish during the summer
via sa
schools meaning hs or college
And also the higher level cultural comparison shit is not fun to do in just one summer
Yes
which one
Yes
ok
Oh thanks!
Idk then maybe try taking few summer courses for enginnering from imperial College or any top uni and see for yourself.
Guys I am attending college this year but still having big consideration between CompSci and Electrical Engineering. My biggest concern for EE is what do students do after graduation and whether they are gonna be lucrative compared to CompSci. Do you guys have any recommendation on what I should opt for?
Yeah I probably will
if youre worried about the avaible of work for EE students, don't be. EE and CS are like both in the highest demand
choose which one youre most interested in! another thing: EE and CS are often taught jointly at colleges, so you dont necessarily have to pick just one
I think you should about both fields in your freshman year and confirm your major in sophmore..
Which one should I take if I want to do Aeronautical Engineering,I was hoping to take Chem,ICT and physics, but I can't do Chem and ICT
Hello, I’m going to be a freshman in high school this coming year, should I take honors biology? I’m not sure bc I want to go into a engineering field but not sure which yet
What other classes are you taking
It depends on your work load and your work ethic
I like to generally see freshman year as a transition year from a low workload to a high load.
unless you’re planning to major in pre meds, it really depends on your other courses and your current work ethic
but usually i suggest to stick with just bio, no honors
Ok
if u want to challenge yourself or to have rigor, take the honors
hi guys
i want to talk about what i should do post highschool
in india
interested in something software or hardware related
Yes
As an engineer you need to do bio
Doesn't matter if u like it u just need all core sciences to be competitive
Not including earth science
do honors biology
because yes, you are going into an engieering career
but most schools usually want to see some level of different sciences
not part of your major
because knowing biology is important
do bio freshman year
and then u can reserve the rest three for chem, physics, and APs
and do honors
rigor is good
I recommend doing computer engineering, which has both, but if not, both of them are great and i would recommend electrical engineering
what are good APs for a sophomore to take who’s interested in biology and technology
but mostly medicine
Whatever APs are available to you
I would encourage taking AP Bio if you’re confident in biology or you’ve taken regular biology or AP Chem for the same thing but with Chem
AP WH also fulfills your GenEd requirements
The last course that I would encourage you take is AP Stats as that’s just a very good class to take as it and AP Lang are pretty much the only AP classes that actually fucking matter
Matters
but yeah do bio, chem, and physics
and then do some ap social studies
if u can do ap maths too
That sounds good, but if I have no class lots available what do I do?
I would like to take APs but I need to take honors chem next year
Then u make space
Alright can you take a look at my schedule and tell me what I could try to switch
could I dm it to you
Then take honors chem first
alright, how many APs did you take sophomore year?
Me?
None cuz this is my chill yr where i focus on ecs
do that over the summer
I'm doing that
this is chill?
what's next yr gonna be
Oh thanks!! Summer is a good idea!!
How would I take it over the summer though?
A tad harder
Ye
A tad meaning 4 aps, 2 de, internships, CNA on top of the schedule i have rn
And mabey a sa or 2
Its not too much imo
What i have rn is very easy going
And mabey join another orchestra next yr
2, AP Bio and World History
That’s awesome did you get As in bio
And then next year I’m taking full IB alongside Bowling class and 4 DEs hopefully
Yeye
I do too
But I can’t afford to pay five hundred dollars at a college for additional classes
Sadly full IB requires a lot of bullshit to be taken 💀
💀💀
Check out DE in your school
Most DEs don’t require money
All of my DEs are free
That’s only available to juniors and seniors and if I take it I can’t take any classes at highschool
All courses are college
Oh do you perhaps go to a middle college?
What was your schedule sophomore year?
What is a middle college?
English 10 H
Alg. II/Trig
Phys Ed
Spanish II
AP Biology
AP world history
is 8 aps good?
depends on the ap's and how you spread them out
1 sophomore, 4 junior, 3 senior
if you don't like it and don't think you're going to be the best at it and don't take it (for art). however, its an AP which you should take into consideration- helps gpa a lot. for orch however, because it doesn't have any weight AND you don't like it/aren't the best, drop it. for history, what would you take instead of APUSH?
what ap's are they
senior ap's don't really matter as much
bc senior year is not that important
only for mid-year grade check
ap euro, for my school its a lot easier than honors american history I, but we also need to qual for aps (i havent qualed for ap euro), and i need to get an A- next year to qual for apush
tysm btw 😭
she doesn't want me to
oooh
i can appeal but she doesnt want me to :/
did you ask why
she says its too much work with ap bio tg
Euro or world depending on availability sophomore year, and Psych, Apush, Macroeconomics, and Micronomics junior year, and spanish, calc 1, and US gov and politics senior year
which is justable but im like already self studying ap bio
like im taking the test this year
so i should be fine
same
so its not weighted 💀
and if you get a good score
idk why 😭
yaa
okay then its whatever
uhh
tbh
is there a reasonable difference between euro and apush
like
if you take euro does it limit you in any way
and same with apush
hmm i mean it would mean i put more time into euro instead of trying to get into apush
not bad, depends no what you want to major in
i dont think its gonna look that much better
tbh
bc each school is diff
idk tbh
yeye ik
theres one teacher at our school thats a free hundred
ughh thats so lucky
all the teachers at my school r super hard
so they have no way of judging whether the course is actually easy or not
bc that's dependent on the teacher
you said that ap euro would generally be easier so in that case go for it
just make sure it doesn't limit your courses in any way
ohh yeah same
ap precalc 💀
LMAO
also ap physics for me
i think my friends taking that next year 💀
hes taking the test smh
oh facts
what math u in
i hate it 💀
my teachers so sassy she drinks like a teenager and skips school bc shes hungover
i got a 93 but i didnt rlly try tbh i barely maintained my 4.0
nono
bc like
not that he course is easy
like
like
yk how
all of geo is like interrelated
yepp
bc i took it in the summer we had one test like every day
so everything was fresh in my mind
💀 oh.
and like
ig thats one way
ong not studying is my fav friend fr
atp im just winging my tests 😭 🙏
then my parents yell at me for bad grades 💀
LMAOO
i have literally no motivation to do any self studying
like
im taking the sat this june
(freshman)
woahh
just do khan academy trust 💀
its just that it's going digital/adaptive
and he got a 1550 💀
and im not taking my hcances with that stuf bri
LMAOO
bro what
lucky
my school doesn't let me skip courses :(
like i barely got approval to skip precalc
nah outside of school 💀
o
theres one freshmen taking ap calc rn
he got into team usa and went to romania this year
its so stupid how some ppl are like so advanaced
IKK
i wish i was them fr
his ego is so big everytime i talk to him im like 😭
its goodd im not either
Only a freshman but right now I’m thinking polisci or economics for pre-law
smh bro
hes too smart
i hate people that have a big ego tho
like even if you're smart
you dont have to go around being like
factss
"yo im so smart check it out im in ap calc"
all i hear from him is how he didnt study and got As
I don’t hate smart people I just hate if they make a big deal about it
take ap lang/ap lit then bc law (helps a lot bc english is extremely important for law)
also participate ind ebate stuff and public speaking
ikrr thats half the ppl in my school
Yeah I’m doing Model UN rn and am planning to do mock trial next year. Debate doesn’t work with my other ECs timing wise
model un is good
its fine if debate doesn't work
just stress the stuff thats important to law
smh
girl's studying ap bio
no way she's not smart
ur probably overexaggerating
unless you go to like one of those insane private schools
💀 its like a private public school
like its one of the best in the state
to describe one word
but it still public
do you not have the option to take math courses over the summer
if you did yuo'd be like set
bc here the max is a2 freshman
and what the top level is at
i dont 💀
i take algebra 2 next year
so dumbb
jeez that sounds advanced
instead i have to do random stuff through stanford precollegiate and princeton 💀
nono but like
math is interesting
ngl
like pre college camps?
math is interesting but not when u acc do the problems :((
ohh those
yeah
so like after precalc
i can take like number theory
and after calc ab i can take like linear alg or multivar differential calc
and after that modern algebra or real analysis or multivar differential calc
ap linear alg 💀
sometimes i just watch like random rly complicated math and sci vids that i dont understand
but its interesting
My district made up a bunch of courses that take weird elements of other stuff
manifesting 🤣
ofc i gotta trust
i have the chance to take ap physics next year, should i?
for the most part yes
but it depends on major
for example
if you want to do like
chem engi
and you can take ap chem
then take ap chem duh
so it's kinda situational but for the most part yes
idk my mikd is all over the place
but think about yourself too- do you really think it's something that interests you? something that's enjoyable?
if it isn't then it may not be the right fit
one day i want to have an engineering major, the next chemistry
uhh its like honors american lit ap bio honors us history 1 spanish 4 ap art orchestra rn
for me i actually like physics and im reasonably good at it s im gonna take ti next year
but it depends on the person
bro
didn't you just ask a question
about dropping like half that stuff
frfr
also orch
if you're not even good
and it's unweighted
then don't take it
wati no that sounds insulting
not like you're not good but like if you're not interested
i swear im not mean
yep
how long
yall llay piano too???
bro how
uhh nah like the start of 2nd
i've been playing since K but my parents weren't really interested and i had no idea what to do
so
i actually got into it like 2 year ago
but im decent i think
lizst?
yeah
i havent tried that one yet 💀
yet
most people don't ever try it bro
woahh
i just finished a chopin nocturne
op 9 no 1
💀
i mean i actually have been playing since i was like
6
or 5 1/2
so i have experience
OH
just that my parents didnt rlly care
that makess sense
left hand for chopin is insane
hmm i just finished
playing clair de lune
and beethoven pathitque no 2
clair de lune is fun
its beautiful if its played correctly
too many people speed it up or slow it down too much
but like
you have to hit it just right
i never even knew abt it before i played but apparently its famous
idrk ig
sorry had to go do sm
wait
have you heard of kassia?
shes like
insane
yt
i found a vid
Ludwig van Beethoven – Piano Sonata No.8 “Pathétique” in C minor, Op. 13, 2nd Movement : Adagio cantabile (Pathetique 2nd Movement)
Thanks for watching. I hope you enjoy my music :)
I’m going to show various piano music including classical pieces.
🌸Don't forget to subscribe, like and comments!
🔔I will upload new movies every Monday.🔔
Please ...
loll i've prob watched some of her vids i just dk her name
mhmm
lol i def will try
So I next year I am a tenth grader that is taking 4 APs and they are ap lang and comp, ap microeconomics, ap government, and ap comparative government. Should I get rid of some ap classes or should I do something about it? Please let me know. Thank you!
dw
I'm also doing 4 next yr as a 10th
You don't need to get rid of the ap classes
It's fine
these classes can be handled
What classes are you doing?
so are u in ab rn?
Lucky your school offers ap prevalence
Pre calc
Our school has teachers but doesn’t offer it
Does your school offer Ap physics c e and m
Oh I was going to do a independent study on it
oh
i don't recommend that as an independent study
it's a pretty difficult course
I was thinking to do a independent study next year
and have u done calculus?
Yeah that’s was people told me
No I was going to do it senior year
Like a independent study senior year
But I was thinking to do a independent study next year in something
On
I know
That’s why I am taking it my senior year
ohh
ok cuz u said next yr so i was confused
i mean it will be difficult
but good luck
Yeah I was going to do a independent study next on something but e and m is for senior year
u don't have to do a lot of indepenent study
Anything you recommend to do a independent study on next year
ab next year
yeah but in one year
one sem for watch
which ones
the max here is two for sophomores :(
sometimes i feel like i’m at such a big disadvantage
bc of my school
Yeah i think limiting people to the number of classes they can take is really bad
Cuz some people can handle it
and they won't let them
but dw this shouldn't affect too much. You said your ecs and stuff are good
my ecs and awards are trash
but grades are like some of the most important things
my rec letters will be decent i think
grades are the initial thing
one B wouldn't do much
idk tho it was in an important class
chem is important
and im finishing with like a low B+
like an 87-89
what science should i sign up for if my career interest is Software Engineer?
didnt we alr go over this?
uh i forgot sorry
physics
Imagine having comp science at your school
Physics is required by many universities for a software engineering degree. If you have a specific university you're interested in, you can look up the degree plan to get a better idea.
What should i do senior year for science after physics?
comp sci
Follow your interests. I'm not sure what's offered at your school, but chemistry another good choice. If a CS class if offered, that's another good choice.
Alright folks I'm gonna fill out an MOU form soon to start enrollment at a local CC. My goal is to get accepted into UCLA, however, if I cannot actually get accepted there my secondary goal is to just rush through the completion of my degree by fulfilling all of the requirements and rushing through the gen-ed. Is this a reasonable schedule?
Summer: I can really only take the particularly light courses due to a 6 semester unit max cap.
Intro to Chem (4 units. I'm taking this cause I'm missing a year of chem lol)
Weightlifting (1 unit. I'm missing a year of gym)
Student Success: I ain't got no clue what the fuck this class does but it seems like an easy A, + I get new study habits that'll help out
Junior year. Due to IB I'm going to struggle a lot but what I generally think I'll be taking is
IB Math AA HL
IB Physics SL or HL depending on the school
IB History HL (required)
IB English Lit HL (required)
IB TOK (S1)
AP Gov (S2)
IB Spanish B
Bowling (gives me a free period + I get to bowl. Also an easy A lol)
Below Be DEs:
English Comp (S1)
Honors: Understanding Art (S1)
Honors: Critical Thinking and Analysis (S1)
Public Speaking (S2)
Honors: Intro to Philosophy (S2)
Honors: Intro to Psychology
This is a lot of fucking work I'm putting, especially with college Honors classes. I'm trying to get these things out of the way cause my current goal is to just fucking bumrush a A.S in Mathematics and then immediately transfer to UCLA which generally has a high acceptance rate for our colleges' Honors Program
Note: I get to pick and choose which grades I actually use for my H.S classes.
Double note: most of the classes that are DE (including Honors programs) are 4 weeks long with some 8 week long classes sometimes
Ik this isn’t too related about courses but is it a bad idea to switch schools 2nd semester of 10th grade
It is but you should do the best you can with it
If you aren't forced to switch schools then don't switch schools unless all of your friends are there or something
I still need to talk w/ my counselor but does this course selection sound good, here my thoughts… so I take 3 college courses in summer, 3-4 AP classes for senior year (only 4 classes minimum since that it minimum for my high school and I literally need no credits for high school just trying to do college credits for free without graduating early and paying for them) then taking 2-3 college courses each semester as well, than 3 college courses in winter. This is to graduate high school with my associates degree but I have concerns if my aps with transfer to college credits so I can graduate community college as a senior with associate degree in business administration with marketing concentration…
I don’t know if that’s too much for my senior year…and be overworked
I don’t know, but what if I graduate high school with lower course load and cancel some of those college classes than that summer finish my credits and take remainder courses for my associates degree before I transfer to a 4 year? Because I plan on getting bachelors and attend 4 year after high school. But idk if they will work
Are this good classes to take for my senior year of high school
yeah that looks good
anyway to add more APs? or IBs? or dual enrollment?
also, I just signed up for the hardest courseload for next year (junior year):
Is this good for junior year:
AP Statistics
AP Macroeconomics
AP Microeconomics
AP Biology
AP US History
AP Literature
Honors Spanish 3
Do you plan on going into engineering?
I still need to talk w/ my counselor but does this course selection sound good?? For senior year. here my thoughts… so I take 3 college courses in summer, 3-4 AP classes for senior year (only 4 classes minimum since that it minimum for my high school and I literally need no credits for high school just trying to do college credits for free without graduating early and paying for them) then taking 2-3 college courses each semester as well, than 3 college courses in winter. This is to graduate high school with my associates degree but I have concerns if my aps with transfer to college credits so I can graduate community college as a senior at end of spring semester with associate degree in business administration with marketing concentration…
Is it too much?
yeah that's good
yeah that's fine
that shouldn't be much work
go ahead and do it
wow
that's a lot of ibs
but you're smart u can probably handle it
and are the De's at the same time as ur classes in junior yr?
but why do u need the psychology, philosophy, puublic speaking, english comp, etc for a Math A.S?
also have u done any DE before?
Cuz I'm considering A.S.
but idk how many courses I should take
and whther i can get it wihtout having to do it during the year
Gen Ed is a bitch
And also I’m trying to get the Honors Program degree if I graduate with an A.S so I get the 80% acceptance rate to UCLA
Whats as
And yes, the S1/S2 denoted Semester 1 and Semester 2
Associated in Science for transfer
I.e you get an associates and you transfer to get your bachelors
For me it’s theoretically possible but not advisable.
However I don’t give a FUUUCK and I’ll double enroll for my major classes lol
My local CC has an honors program where if you take 15 semester units of courses designated as “Honors” and you attend 4 student functions and a workshop you get the “honors” diploma
That’s it
Like joining club events such as Frat parties, protests, club delegations, etc.
Workshop is just something you’re required to do. Idk what it is but you’re required to do it
I believe it’s more just there to explain that you should apply to UCLA
oh ok
wme neither
oh
you'll be able to do that along with like 50 IBS?
do you have clubs after school?
and are the college programs online?
wow
for us
we need to do 60 units
and i don't think we have an honors program
oh, so you need to do courses out of your major to get an associatie's degree even if you're doing dual enrollment?
15 honors units out of 60 minimum requirements
Yeye, A.S has some requirements still
You swim or you drown.
The good news is that I actually get to pick and choose which DE classes I take appear in my transcript
oh ok
I mean i'm considering de during junior yr
next yr i probbly don't have enough time
and i don't have the reliable commute either
The CC offers asynchronous options
Anyone done honors classes before? I want to know what to expect. What are the differences between honors classes and college prep classes?
Ok I'll try then
Honors classes are more difficult, faster paced, and in depth than college prep classes
Expect tests more often
more homework
And i recommend doing a lot of them
this shows your rigor
Thank you
I'm taking out honors for math, but adding 2 AP classes
How would this look on my transcript?
depends on the classes @covert linden
that's fine
you don't have to do ALL honors
and ALL Aps
it's only rigor if you can handle it
like if math is a weak subject for you, it's fine
it shouldn't matter
and 2 Aps is fine
2 is the max for my grade
yeah ok that's fine
2 is a good amount for soph year
tho i wish your school didn't do this "censorship"
they say its for mental health
thats y my school doesnt do class rank
Sophomore year schedule (assume honors)
Geometry
Algebra 2
AP chem
APUSH
English 2
PE
Choir
Italian 2
i think its whateever
What is it missing
everything
(besides for sleep)
what sets u apart from the other appliciants in college apps?
Should I change Italian out for engineering?
no
But I don't know my ECs
yeah my school doesn't do class rank either
but i think it's stupid
for
banning aps
yeah class rank, ig is good for mental health
That is dumb
but like banning people from taking aps isn't good
like let people do the rigor they want to
I can kind of understand that because of anxiety but APs should be allowed
like for having more aps, our school qallows to make some classes pass/fail
then find it lol
How do you find out what sets you apart
That's kind of a stupid question in hindsight
nope
that's good
its a real question that im still stuggling with after over 2yrs of thinking
I need to think about that
K
For 11th grade should I drop Latin and continue Spanish? Also is taking 5 APs too big of a work load for a junior? I could take AP research senior year as well and replace that with AP stats
On the AP Latin with the teacher at my school passing the exam for me would be virtually impossible
i dont think ap precalc exists
They are offering it at my school next year, so apparently it is a thing
That depends on you regarding workload and what is your potential major?
How
mabey to u
It really aids students who need college algebra credit
It doesn’t help kids in Calc sure
Because pre Calc is a high school course. Why would u need college credits for a high school course
College algebra = precalc
I wanted to aim for a business major
It’s just an attempt for the college board to snatch more money from you
Not everyone has the prerequisites to jump into Calc
Those people wouldn’t be taken ap pre Calc tho loll
I would take Latin and drop spanish (switching into spanish 1 won’t help you), but your schedule looks great
They take AP precalc to get the prereq to Calc…
Plus you can get credit for AP precalc
And collegeboard invests multiple years of work and loads of money to create AP courses. They won’t make an AP course for no reason
I really don’t learn anything in Latin and I won’t pass the exam if I were to take AP
I see, do you like Latin though?
I would still attempt to take AP Latin if possible, unless you really don’t want to
Obviously. The college board is a business at heart. They are there to make a profit. They knew people were stupid enough to take it, so they created it
If you don’t, I wouldn’t recommend switching into spanish and I would pick a different elective
I can’t say I like it just due to the teacher not really explaining topics thoroughly
Which one is better
Duel enrollment
AP
This class can really help students though. It will reach and aid a far greater number of students rather than something like “AP linear algebra”
If AP is offered AP. If not take the DE
Well, it’s more so up to you. Either way, I would not recommend switching to spanish 1
I took Spanish 1 this year
It depends on where you want to go to college and your state. For example, if you live in ca and want to go to a UC, I’d recommend de
I mean I live in New Jersey and my dream school is Princeton
Were you planning on taking spanish 2 next year?
Take AP then
You’re more likely to get 1-2 credits at Princeton from AP but not a whole lot
But what if I do all the classes in a certain subject then can I do dual enrollment
(like science)
Yeah ofc
I took AP Chem this year and plan to do ochem next
Also should I do research as an elective or hold it off till senior? @cinder gorge
that's a good schedule
course rigor is good
I actually recommend to continue latin
because you've been doing it so long
and you'll be able to do ap latin
also continue research
as i've heard
it's really easy
You should take it this year to have 6 classes
it shouldn't be too hard as an AP
I am praying for you because my brother has cried doing organic chemistry homework several times
Ty haha my dad is a professor so I’ll have help
@austere tulip I could take ap Latin next year
Nice
My dad's a math professor so math homework is incredibly easy
If you’re up for it, I’d recommend it
Totally ok if you’re not
yeah continue latin
If I were to not get above a 3 how devastating is that
On an unrelated note does it matter which foreign language I do. Because I'm way more interested in Italian but there's no AP Italian like Spanish offered at my school
Cuz I really don’t see myself getting over a 3
not too devastating
a 3 is still a pass
Well I don’t think I’ll get a 3 is my point, mostly because my brother got a 1
even if you dont get a good test grade
you dont have to report it
@dim jasper
good gpa boost
@vital olive yeah people at my school say ap Latin is easy A+
then take i t
👍
These classes are not equivalent, and if colleges start to accept AP Precalculus for credit, it would most likely be for precalculus, which generally won't count toward a major that requires calculus (i.e., STEM). It's also not the only way to meet the prerequisite(s) for calculus.
my calc teacher said that ap precalc would probably only be counted for credit for non-stem related majors or "lazy majors like business" 🗿
We'll see how the AP Precalculus experiment goes. It continues the race to calculus, but there's many students that could benefit from other math classes. This suggests that high school students also would be better served by options that explore mathematical modeling or begin to develop their ability to use statistics or data science.https://www.mathvalues.org/masterblog/thoughts-on-advanced-placement-precalculus
A lot of students at my school are gonna be taking AP Calc AB or BC in ninth grade, while I'm on course for Geometry. Any advice on how to compete with these advanced math students?
I'm also an avid sports fan and play sports myself. I'm on the national team for table tennis and got second in my age group at Nationals if that helps. My chess rating is around 2000 as well, so maybe I could try to reach NM level too.
I would recommend sticking tk your stengths
there will always be crazy math students
yeahh
It's not a competition or race. Take the math class that's right for you and focus on a solid understanding. Taking Calculus in 9th grade and barely passing it won't help you in college, especially if you're interested in STEM.
I go to a private school. Half my grade is a level higher than me in math, and I'm barely in any honors.
hey its fine my friend
Pretty sure I only got in because I'm good at sports
just take classes you’re interested in
like if u like bio do bio
or chem
or smth
good meaning nationals? state?
I am particularly interested in conducting different types of experiments that could enhance physical performance since that would be extremely beneficial to my skill level as well.
2nd in the country
which one
us
and how do u measure "in the country"?
ranked rating system
and also tournaments
But I'm tryna figure out how colleges will look at me compared to basically the entire school.
?
You know the ELO system?
no
Then it'll be hard to explain.
i have time
AP Bio or AP Chem junior year? (Currently taking Chemistry)
I want to major in Computer Science
Oh do chem I’d say
Cause it’s a lab science
And I think it would help more
Have you already done APCSP
No I haven't
They only offer APCSP in my high school but not APCSA
who tf is taking ab and bc in ninth? the max here is algebra 2…
(our school doesn’t let us skip anything ever)
I’d say definitely take Principles
It’s the same at my school they don’t offer apcsa but the colleges will see that your school doesn’t offer it so you’ll be fine
I’m taking apcsp rn and it’s great
I think AP Physics would be better than AP Bio or AP Chem
Ong like only seniors at my school take ab, bc isn’t even offered at my school 😭
My plan is to take 4 APs junior year and then 6 next year to keep it slow
Yes physics is good
Yeah I’m going into junior year as well and am going to be taking 3 APs, AP Physics, APES, AP English and honors precalc
Ima take AP Lang, APUSH, AP Art History, AP Spanish Lit junior year
Art history is a rare course I heard it’s really cool tho
Also I'm doubling up Geometry Alg. 2 right now
So I'll take precalculus and taking the AP precalc exam
I wish my school offered AP precalc I would totally take it
Idk if your guys schools are offering it but mine is offering AP African American studies for next year and I never heard of it so I’m kinda confused
Follow your interests, but physics is a good choice for computer science. Many CS degree plans require physics.
I'm planning to take a course in my HS called "Forensic Science" instead
Then AP Physics
I feel you should do AP physics first cause it looks better to college supposedly but if u feel you can’t don’t do it
It's all your choice. If you have a specific university you're looking to attend, checking the degree plan might offer additional guidance.
should i do algebra 2 reg or honors
my friends said i should cuz since i'm doing physics it would be better
but what would you guys recommend
honors
Whatever you feel more comfortable with tbh. if youre confident in math id say go with honors cause usually it allows you to take high math courses later on
but if you're not so confident theres no shame in going with regular alg 2
honors is gonna go faster but you will most likely learn much more content and be much more advanced and better at math
but ofc there is nothing wrong with taking a regular class if thats not your style
which course should u take to pursue electrical engineering in india
whats rop?
Regional occupational program
how does it work?
Idk if its a us thing or international
U go to class, and do everything like a class
Calc in 9th is crazy
😭 there’s like 10 freshman this year who are in calc
Out of a class of 100
I need someone familiar with the sabis school system to help me pick for 11th grade please 🙏
Damn
And if they fail the class
That’s on them
Would be a stacked for a junior
AP Bio
APUSH
AP Lang
Math 3+
Spanish 3SS
ASB Leadership
Idk about you
It might be it might not
Does are the only aps a junior can take besides the math academy students that could take ap Calc AB
?
U worded that wierd
Those*
Juniors are encouraged to take Algebra II, Precalculus, Calc AB, Calc BC, or Statistics
In my school district, Juniors take Algebra II or Algebra II/Trig which fulfils the precalc part
Some school districts have you take Geometry in 9th grade meaning that you take Calc AB, BC, or Precalc Junior year
Math 3 is Algebra 2
And the + part of it is pre calculus.
Yeah that's normal
Most H.S kids do that I believe though I could be wrong
I definitely do know that on average it's either Alg II or Calc junior eyar
How difficult is AP Bio
It's one of the classes of all time
I'm taking it and it's just sorta there
Pretty fun though
I like learning about biotech and putting food coloring inside of gel :)
It doesn't
the biotech chapter is really short
We do biotech for about 2 classes 💀
Did you do chemistry
No
I'm doing it over the summer tho
Nice was required to do it during school
wow
you and your school are advanced
don't worry
there's no way you're not ending up somewhere good
being that good at table tennis and chess is pretty good
and i mean doing geometry freshman year is not bad
like u don't have to do calc freshan year
as long as u get calc done by the end of high school
that's good for a highly selective college
is geo for 9th too slow
You’re faster than average
Average is alg I 9th
Should I do AP or base level physics? There’s no honors option and I have no plans to do a STEM career (poli sci major probably)
If you like physics and you ENJOY solving physics problem you can take AP or base level is fine.
I don’t enjoy it tbh I’m just worried about the gpa drop if I don’t do it
They won't though, and it's just that they're extremely smart
Ah alright thanks for the encouragement
Hello, I need help about choosing High School Courses ( I will be Freshman next year)
depends which school youre going to
usually you don't get to choose
idk
you have to take core classes
trying for ivy leauge
but you can choose level of core
ivys dont look at 9th
yes, only 11th an 12th
what
just try doing well in all your classes
since when
i read somewhere that they do?
