so ur asian eh?
me too
and me too learn AP physics
through khan academy tho
my schll don support me lah
These white kids can't even study 25 hours a day haiyyaa
Hi
heard that dual credit is only expected by a few colleges. I think ur best bet would be just reg. or normal ap idk
Hey do yall have any suggestions on how to get into a college for photography
Make a spreadsheet and do some research on what colleges give you the best selection of photography courses.
I'm nowhere near close to applying to college, so I'm not sure, but best of luck!
Is it wise to take physics honors and chemistry honors during my sophomore year?
probably not, but thats my experience. choose one of them to go through with, take honor then ap, and senior take honors of the other one
and probably dont take ap chem and ap physics the same year
Thanks for letting me know.
np
o yeah also @weak surge make sure you have the math req for physics, they also recomend you take a year of chem b4 physics
alr
so if you wanted to do physics maybe take a chem sophmore and honors junior and ap senior
cos i didnt pay attention and took honors b4 i had the math req
Cause I was confused about whether I should take physics honors/ Spanish 3 honors for my elective
So @ashen epoch , it would be wise to take Spanish 3 honors than physics honors during my sophomore year?
depends how good you are at spanish/math
I had a A in Spanish II last semester, this semester as well
Most likely this semester
i cant really speak for span 3 honors cos my school doesnt offer it but as long as you're confident in spanish you should be fine
Alr, thanks
what math are you in right now?
Geometry Honors
My courses for next year are Algebra II Honors, Chemistry Honors, English II Honors, AP Computer Principles, AP World History, Physics Honors/Spanish 3 Honors, and Engineering 1 Design and Presentation.
If you have any recommendations, please let me know.
This is for sophomore year
@ashen epoch
just dont overload yourself
my senior year i’m taking: calc 3/differential equations honors, ap lit, ap micro macro, photography 1 and 2, and ap physics 1.
i had the option to continue with spanish but i didnt i’m in ap spanish langiage right now
i also could have taken ap physics c
did i@take a rigorous enoigh schedule?
@ me if you have advice
For your senior year, the schedule is extremely rigorous. Most seniors would have early release or late start, but I believe that you survive.
research
Should i take latin?
Use collegeboard's college search
and try to see collees that align with ur ideals
sophomore classes:
geometry honors
english ii honors
ap biology
western humanities honors
spanish ii honors
ece economics
health (semester)
pe (semester
band
that's good
I definitely recmend an AP in humanities
And AP Econ
i personally wouldnt do that
why?
Again just wondering
it might help with my course selection
some things to note:
- taking algebra 2 this year, my school’s math sequence is just weird
- covid messed up world language so i’m taking spanish 2 instead of 3 this year
- ece economics is basically ap econ
because im looking for some photography collages
ok
ok
so ...
its not efficient
College board's college search will be really good
care to explain further?
google helps too
I mean definitely look into the ivies
becaue the ivies usually do have some sort of libral arts programs
why? cuz its ivs?
u have a full school yr to do stuff and ur only gonna do that?
no, because ivies have good liberal arts programs
i’m taking 8 credits
no its not
thats it?
what do you mean that’s it
ok
"Technically" it is but there are expectations
so does ece give u gpa credit
yeah
not technically
because
ur school is probably the block ones
do you know how my high school works?
yeah
ours is 8
and that's after I do zero h
hr
Cuz I also have to do PE
illiois requires pe every year
i currently have 8 periods rn (sophomore) but what im trying to say is theres always exceptions
not for us
for my schol
for everyone
i just gave my classes i’m taking at school not the loopholes i’m going to jump through
We have to ask the principal to allow us to do 8
i’m already taking two ap classes outside of my school this year
not true
don’t make assumptions and make an ass out of yourself
have u considered doing pe online or summer or anyother class in the summer/online?
y?
no
in illinois
no matter what u do over the summer
u have to do pe every semester of high school
thats what im using and question. what exactl is the cost after aid
oh cuz i want to see how u do more than 8 classes
no, because my state doesn’t do that
that depends a lot
wdym?
on how much aid u do get
because average is the averge
it depends on how much aid u get
im currently the pres of link crew
its direct college courses, like u go to the actual college to do college courses
a youth orchetra
and cal state long beach is the uni i currently play with
is this this year's schedule?
Are honours courses interchangeable with regular courses to fulfill college admissions requirements at UBC? I’m Canadian. Say I took honours Chem instead of chemistry.
next yr
all my classes are inputed so theres no taking it back
I definitely think you have a strong commitment to band
and that's cool
what instrument?
flute
cool
so yeah for us
we are reuqired pe
every semester of high school
no matter what we do over the summer
Illinois state
UGGGH
theres always exceptions, but u need to find those exceptions
nope
it's illinois state requirements
SHUT UP
they want us to be "healthy"
NO THERE AREN’T
u can still do more classes
not are our school
mabey thats what u think, but theres always ways
no online or summer classes?
dude
summer there's a limite doption
but I'm gonna do two courses
over the summer
i go to a rural high school in new england with less than 300 students and literally no opportunities anywhere
thru community college
trust me, this is the most i can do
i’ve looked everywhere for every loophole and asked everyone
there are no summer classes
mabey or mabey not
no online classes
I don't want to do more classes during the schol year cuz I already have 4 aps
nothing
and two of them are really intensive
which one
can i see ur schedule for next yr?
but u know, no matter ur personality, this is really good for college and I think u will get to a good place
ok
Ap CSA
Ap Precalc
World Lit H
French IV H
im alr in a good uni, i play with CSULB
PE
i personally wouldnt do this at ur sophmore yr
PLTW Digital ELectronics (basciall AP for engineering)
Im a science person
like you're a music person
theres ways to make ur life easier without sacrificing anything
i need to show my interest in science and mathematics
ik
that's why I'm not doing extra classes
u can do this on top of ur regular schedule
im keeping this schedule cuz two of my classes do have lots of hmwk
Exactly
no cuz I also have a few ecs
stop making excuses
that i'm dedicated to
what excuses
oh is that the uni you're going to go to
y not do ap chem ur junior or senior yr and do a easier science ur sophmore yr? even out the classes so that ur not dyeing one year and cruising the next
i alr go there, i play with the orchestra
no
but like
for college
like after hs
ucla/yale/stanford
because I have to do Physics 12 and Physics C
then make ur other classes easier
so u can concentrate on the subjects thats hard
no, u replace ur other classes with different years
so the classes ur gonna take senior/junior yr, put it in sophmore yr
not possible
all my classes
build on the previous ones
whats Ap CSA
Computer science
A
wait
so did u make link crew a club
at ur school
im currently bringing it into our school, i just need to go to training and its official
ok
good
that shows initiative
all the admins are on my side
i'm gonna be a link crew leader junior year
also what's AIME
cuz for us it's a math competition
Nice
for us, its an internship thing that our school offers
oh ok
paid internship
what clubs do u do
none, i dont think their worth my time
oh ok
why focus on school with only 3k students, when theres a whole world with billions of people?
what do u want to major in
premed and minor in music
ok
so what do u do
instead of clubs
where u can meet billions of people
orchestras like the uni, do stuff outside of school but still related like bringing link crew, etc
tbh... school is very limiting
that's if u make it so
if u can take advantage of what's around u
and for friends, most of my friends are the school's/district administrators because they have the most valuable information
it def isn't
theres nothing good to take advantage of
ok, u think that
maybe that's ur school
but srsly
make some friends
that are actual friend
friends*
not adminsitrators
i do have actual friends
ok
i think u have everything for a good college
except personality
like humans
are more
i do have personality, my flute is part of it
ok
also
do u organize downtime?
wdym
ok good
y?
because downtime is important
uh huh, and y r u giving advice to me?
i could ask the same
i mean... u asked like the scheduling
u asked for my schedule too
like I genuinely do not see why u hate me so much
when did i say i hate u?
if u think i hate u, then idk what else to say then i dont
i think ur neutral
ok
could anyone give me a breakdown of ap physics vs ap chem vs ap bio? i'm not sure which i should take
What AP class would you recommend for sophomores? Definitely doing apush because of how the tracking works but I want a second one
what are your options and what subjects are you interested in? @fervent jasper
My school is huge so we offer most classes, I want to do law for a career so I'm pretty good at history. Also have some music background if that helps
@fervent jasper i would say ap lang or ap gov but im not sure if those classes are exactly suited for a sophomore
not sure about lang, but my school doesn't offer gov to sophomores-just 11 or 12th graders
thanks ill look
I took French I as a foreign language class last year as a freshman, but didn't like it, so I began thinking what foreign to take as a sophomore and selected Latin I despite its rare usage today(only in parts of Italy and in the Vatican City) for its benefits such as bettering comprehension of science vocabulary and law terms. I am currently taking it, but don't like it at all. A couple of weeks ago, I read in an article that high level universities ideally prefer an applicant with four years of experience in the same foreign language during high school; however, that clearly doesn't match my current transcript and I'm hoping that doesn't become a "wall" preventing me from getting in a good college. Do you have any suggestions for selection of future world language courses?
Additionally, my high school is really small with a total of 400 students from 9th to 12th grade and so we do not have any teachers to teach world languages. Up until this 2022-23 school year, we used Rosetta Stone, which was quite possibly the most easy yet boring way to learn and absorb knowledge for me. In August of '22, we started this program called Edgenuity, which has detailed yet complex lessons that are difficult to apprehend. When I inquire to my online tutor via email, I receive a reply after 12-24 hours due to odd working hours.
All in all, thanks for reading and just wanted some advice about foreign language in high school.
The main question is: Can you get into a top college or a good college that prefers four years of the same language with say two or three years of the same language and the rest of the years in high school with another foreign language? What world language should I select next year as a junior? I can just deal with french or latin if I have to though.
AP Lang is easy
Almost everything is completion
i think it depends on the school and teacher tbh
My school doesn't offer AP classes so I'm just thinking of dealing with Latin or French for the rest of high school. I like Latin more, but colleges prefer French
who said colleges prefer French?
I read in an article that colleges like French, Spanish, and Chinese learners
Because Latin is kinda "dead"
So colleges would think there isn't much benefit of Latin in the "real world"
Is ancient world history interesting for those who took it
It’s optional in our school
And I’m considering taking it next year
uh huh, what article is this?
Here are the website links:
and
High school courses play an important part for the school of your dreams. What high school classes should I take to get into the Ivies?
Is hisotry a good major for law school, and should I take a minor
i will slap you if you take history as a major
ok
take a major that you could use in a fall back career
y r u asking us to decide ur life?
Cuz I can’t do it
then figure it out, we cant control ur life
Hot damn I just wanted advice
advice on what
girl what
i answer questions so that u can make the best decisions according to ur needs
Then don’t say nothin
if u have questions feels free to ask, but for advice be specific
you don't seem reliable to answer given you are only a sophomore with not much college experience. I mean if I were them I would ask someone who is in college and knows their way around majors and minors and specific degrees
for starters dawg i dont want questions, i ask questions, and moreover, how am i supposed to be more specific with "should i choose a minor"
by specifying what u wanna minor in and major??
IM ASKING SHOULD I CHOOSE A MINOR
sn gkbtgbwesfr
Actually i think i have a good amount of experience
sure
this mf
oh hunny watching youtube videos doesnt help
saying "sure" and not elaborating on why
if u want specifics just ask lmao
how am i supposed to know why if idk what they want to major and minor in?
for the love of god im asking should i take a minor
THEY ARE JUST ASKING ABOUT GENERAL MINORS
minor in what
ok then, sure do a minor
then explain why?
doesnt matter my question is should i do a goddamn minor
how am i supposed to explain if i dont know anything? all they asked is "should i do a minor"
minors and majors are different. if you as a sophomore are so "knowledgeable" about this subject you should be able to answer without given a specified degree.
omg
you are making this more complicated that it needs to be
then dont say anything if u dont know
qwertyuiopasdfghjklzxcvbnm,
lmao

hi! are these good courses for rn? i’m going to be taking 2 honors, potentially 1 ap, and i might switch to spanish honors. the other 2 classes i’d be taking are college prep (chem and algebra 2). for context, my school has 4 levels: general, cp, honors, and ap.
just replace health with pe and thats my schedule
thats my schedule rn for context
in case anyone can’t see, these are my current classes:
- ap world
- english 1 honors
- geometry cp
- physics cp
- spanish 2 cp
- chorus
- graphic design 1
- pe
and next year’s would be:
- chem cp
- us history 1 honors (honors is the highest level you can take as a sophomore)
- english 2 honors
- algebra 2 cp
- spanish 3 cp (gonna try to change to honors)
- ap seminar (if i wanted to)
- pe 10 + driver’s ed
guys i need help picking gcse subjects
Is AP Euro or World better for a sophomore?
Quick question, Are these solid courses for Junior year?
English 3, Algebra 2, Physics, AP US government, Industrial Robotics, Financial Literacy, Accounting, Fundamentals of information Technology, Introduction to Programing
I will help you, let's start with simple. What subjects do you like/enjoy the most
Ive already chosen my language -spanish
so its mainly js creative subjects etc
i prefer history over geography so thats a definite
Js?
Yeah, I'm sure you don't wanna learn about rocks 💀
I don't want to be that person but I assume you are mixing up geography and geology-
lol yeah
I am a freshman
but I still give advice
it's not necessarily about age
If u think u can handle it
do a minorr
but minor can be a bit more work
it will probably be worth it
but if u are doing a minor
make it somewhat distinct from your major
I recommend more AP or DE
duual enrollment*
Ok so for sciences if u can handle it, Chem, For social studies u already have apush(tho I really recommend euro), for elective u could do AP csa or csp, for math if u are there u could do Precalc/calc
those aps are usually the good ones for soph year
music theory if u are interested in that
art...
The new African american studies if u want to
there's plenty more I'm probably not thinking of
There is not a lot of AP Options for me
Should I switch my Fundamentals of information Tech to the CCP version?
My school doesn’t let me do ap chem until junior year, and I’m required to do us history next year anyway so I might as well do apush
thats stuff that everyone else is doing
In my Region, most people are not doing Physics, let alone Industrial Robotics
ok?
but they do other stuff
All I was asking was, is my courses Okay for a Junior
has anyone here taken ap european history? and if so how is it?
What would you change?
everything
Damn😂
@wise forge heyo, could u help me pick out my courses for sophomore year?
please and ty
sure
thx
so here are my classes rn:
- geometry college prep (which is the level below honors)
- physics cp
- gym + health 9
- spanish 2 cp
- english 1 honors
- ap world
- chorus
- graphic design
and my classes for next year would be:
- spanish 3 cp
- algebra 2 cp
- english 2 honors
- us history 1 honors (theres no ap that i can take for us history until junior year)
- driver's ed + pe 10
- ap seminar (if i want to take it)
- electives (TBD)
do ya think i should change anything?
honestly, the only thing i wanna change is spanish 3 cp
i want to move up to honors
for context, ive had at least an a- consistently in the class
ah
so
common mistake
should i take igcse geo or evm? im planning to do sumn engineering based in uni.
Is AP world history hard?
No
Should I take APUSH after HUG?
Do you guys think I'll be fine if I take AP US History and Comp Sci A
matters on your school
like our school apush is 1 hr of hmwk every day
but I would def recommend world or euro
something to prepare for apush
csa is fine
Ok, if there's not a lot of Aps, keep these schedule, but try challenging yourself by taking a few college courses from your community college
The histories depend a lot on the school
for ap euro in my school
we have lots of hmwk
many dbqs and leqs
and it's super fast paced
But the class itself is really fun
Here's the questions u should ask to decide
Is the teacher good?
What is the workload like and will I be able to handle it?
Am I interested in history?
And I especially recommend it if you've done apush or world
whats hug
Human geo
Ours have daily readings that you do
and also I think my school doesnt let you take world or euro before apush
have you done csa?
Is taking csa without csp alright?
yes
csa starts off with basic java
but it is recommend with csp
because csp doesn't teach u a language, it teaches u basic computing
like stuff other than coding in computer science
oh wow, so apush must be the ez class for u
for our school apush is the most difficult
what was it about
The language of Java
ours is prob ap chem or sum
well yeah
so is there any difference between computer science and computer programming
compute programming is like learning a language and using it to code programs
but computer science is that plus other things like digital electronics, ethics, etc.
don't worry
csa
is a pretty easy class
computer science a is a computer programming class
they teach only the language of java
at least the curriculum by collegeboard
And the way u describe it
if world and euro come after apush
then apush must be an easy class for u
at least thats what I think
are u doing any aps this year?
usually people in my school take ap us gov and/or apush after aphug
im doing human geo
ok
yeah then it's fine
it just seems weird cuz in my school that's crazy
but your school is different
lol
I do recommend just learning like python or basic computer science over the summer
it does help with the logic aspect of CSA
but u should be good
alr, thanks for the tip
Should I take AP classes as a Freshman?
I would
Alright thank you ^
What AP can you take
I need some opinions on these
Just in case you cannot see i am taking : English Grade 10 , Career Studies , Science Grade 10 , Canadian History , Civics , World Religions , Core French Grade 10 , Functions Grade 11 , Spanish 2 , Introduction to Computer Science.
This is whatever
what do you mean by that?
This schedule doesnt set u apart from the other people
ah i see
Course selection for next year has begun: APUSH, AP pre calc, AP chem, AP Lang, Weight training, Spanish 3, Concert band, and Marching/jazz band combo. Am i overloading myself? Currently have a 4.2 GPA
depends on how you're feeling this year
ur fine
if you've been able to keep your grades up (which you have been, seeing you have a 4.2) and think you can handle that many aps/practice then you're good
but i've heard that apush and ap chem are two of the harder aps out there so
just make sure that you're confident you can do it
I'm making my 4-year plan (im in 8th grade) and was wondering for my senior year, should I try to take Physics AP, Chemistry AP, Anatomy Honors, or Environmental Science AP for my science class.
i’d probably try to take whatever class is most beneficial to what you want to do in college/the future
probably something doctoral
then pick the classes that relate best to premed
I wanna major in accounting what courses should I take in high school grade 11
How’s this schedule for senior year. Currently have a 4.9 GPA, ranked 12 in my class of 737:
AP Physics C:Mechanics
AP English Literature
AP US Gov and Econ
AP Stats
AP Comp Sci A
(Will also be doing an internship)
will you do calculus?
whatever classes relate to business/accounting
Thx bro
I’m already in Calc BC
coolio
side note but i feel like weighted GPAs has lost all of its meaning LOL
cause its physically impossible for anyone at my school to get a GPA of 4.9 cause of required classes that arent AP
but regardless thats a good workload, if not a bit unecessary with CSA
Facts
Is stats eventually required in most colleges?
Also, Is there a site where I can find what credit certain AP courses give me?
You'll have to go to the university website and check
Should I take calculus
Yeah, you’re gonna have to at some point
It sounds boring
Nope, I think you're good for junior year
I recommend AP physics
that's a good shcedule
I think this is fine
wait 4.9 gpa
do u guys do 5.0 scale?
I think this is good for canada
Yes, definitely. I recommend AP World History, Ap CSP, and AP Hug(tho I think world's better)
I'm in AP Hug right now as a freshman and all I can say is that if your teacher doesn't show you themself, you should watch Mr. Sinn videos to study; My class hates watching them after each lesson but imo they really help
So if you do end up taking AP Hug, that's my recommendation
Yes Calc is good to get out of the way since it’s a requirement
Yeah
YESSS Mr Sinn is the best. I binged him for two days before the AP exam and got a 5. So clutch
so for u are honors also 5?
im canadian, do u think these course selections for next year show good rigor?
if the course code as a 4 in it, its meant for gr 12s. if it has a 3, its for gr 11
i also took 3 gr 11 courses this year aka 3/4 of my electives were gr 11. and im currently in gr 10
Yes
I have a C+ in pre calculus right now. Should I take AP Statistics as a senior?
If you don’t feel comfortable with Calc then definitely
ok
Idk about your school but everyone I’ve ever talked to said stats is 1000% easier
I suck at math
What AP classes should I take?
I'm thinking of taking basically everything but math
I think continue thee language if u already have a science class
sophomore year?
Um
World/Euro/Psych
Bio if ur allowed to
CSP/CSA
Economics(micro and macro)
sophomore year
usually there's not many english aps available
in our high school
we start english aps junior year
I have AP lit
I would recommend doing honors english
right now?
freshman year?
Are you doing ap lit this year?
i mean if you're plannig doing that next year, I would say no
it is a difficult test by itself
even if the class in your high school is not
take one more year of honors or even Lang
but if you're like SUPER GOOD at english
then go ahea
ok
does these courses for my 11th grade year show good rigor?
• English 3 (im considering choosing honors, but one of the teachers in E3H is uh, yeah)
• US History
• AP Calculus AB
• Geometry Honors (haven't took geo yet, but i was allowed to skip geo and take it next year)
• Physics Honor
• Chinese 2
• Public Speaking
Mean teachers ain’t a reason to not go to honors (unless u actually hate his/her guts) but yeah it’s cool
one of the teachers in E3H give AP lit works 💀
that's what i heard from students
Can someone help me
These are the courses I’m taking in freshman year
Do you think I will be fine and that I won’t have too much workload
Pls help
Help with what
If the work will be too much or not
Its fine
@wintry solar
Will i get good credits from these
Right now I’m take alg 1, physical science, ush, ela, Spanish 1, health
I have all As
Good for u
Will the classes that I’m taking be a lot harder than the ones I’m taking now or will they be similar workload
Like i said, it depends on ur work ethic
Ok
looks good to me, i would personally take more honors class of they do offer it
it will look good on your transcript once you apply to college
but if alot of honors is too much for you, its fine
They only offer honors for core classes
But electives still add credit
then take those if you can
I took all honors for core classes
ah
Im taking biology for science because I’m already taking physical science
Which is a freshman class
bio is just alot of memorizing
havent took geo yet since i was allowed to skip for a special course on my school
im taking it next year tho
Oh ok
but my teacher did say that geo is a piece of cake
Ok
Dang
i would skip geo if i cough but it’s a required course so im taking it next year along with AP Calc AB
What so classes should I take sophomore year
Imma be taking honors alg 2
And chem
what are the courses they offer in sophomore
im taking alg 2 honors AND pre calc honors
this year
lol
is alg 1 easy for u?
It’s not really easy but it’s not hard either
dont double up if your struggling
I’m in the middle
Sometimes I don’t understand stuff but then after I ask I understand
use this as a rule of thumb when thinking of doubling up
Ok
Right now we are doing quadratics still but now we are looking at initial velocity and initial height
We are tying parabolas into physics
so next week is official course card selection or like discussion for freshman year
i have what I have to do and wanna do figured out but there’s not enough hours or classes in the school day to do it all for next year
Hello!. This a rough draft of my schedule for the next upcoming years. Is this doable and also i would love to hear some other courses i could take.
ok
ok
so if u did ib spanish
its fine
go ahead and take ap chem
it won't be that bd
I think definitely a good schedule list so far
II like that u have this recurring kind of theme for biology and medical science
I would say to take some more AP social studies
really helps with elective credit
wait...
if you're doing so already
why don't u just do BC
instead of doing AB first
at our school honors geometry is hard
cant take BC without taking AB in my school
oof
that's so redundant tho
thats how my school works ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Are u allowed Aps?
Also is study hall required?
Cuz definitely other classes could be taken other than study hall
oo ok ive been putting them off since i'm not rlly that good at social studies loll 😅 but i'll definitely consider those! thx for ur suggestion :)
Yeah, if you're not good at scoail studies
Ap psych
Ap huuman ge
geo*
easy ones
I mean you've gotten so many exceptions
can't u get another one
oo okk thx for the help!
for my school, it's required for me to take AB before BC
i cant skip it
u skipped geometry
I mean i guess just try to do bc straight cuz then u'll have time to do Calc III
does this seem like a good schedule?
the last two are alternates
was set on trying to do at least 2 or 3 APs for junior year, since Ive maintained all 95+'s for every class for freshman and so far in sophomore year with all honors and one AP
cant school says so
but because my current math course is special
i was allowed to skip geo
and do it next year
Both at the same time?
does anyone know the difference between ap draw and ap 2d art?
I need help on classes I should take
Are these good classes or should I change some
Honors English 1
Spanish 2
Honors geometry
Algebra 2
PE 1
Honors biology
Honors world history 1
AP human Geography
yes
What is the difference between the two?
algebra 2 basically covers the rest of algebraic topics that wasnt covered in algebra 1, and pre calculus is stuff you need to learn before taking college maths, aka calculus
however, you need good understanding on algebra in order to take pre calculus
so it’s usually required for you to take algebra 2 before pre calculus
So I just filled out a academy application thing for my freshman year after this school year ends and I picked NTA, Fame- Dance, and business + marketing
but the thing is since we can only have up to 2-3 electives next year
and we have to take a foreign language for extra college years technically
what elective would I give up for the language via freshman + sophomore
like I love dance b/c of the stage and just being up there is amazing
But the nta and business academies are next door and nta I’m already in and business would be a good asset to know and understand for anything in the future
you dont have to take the electives you want now, you could always take it on your sophomore year
target the core courses that’s required for you to graduate first before your electives
you have 4 years to do all the electives you want
Ayo
ok
I think u could do more aps
ap precalc
if that's available
ap comp sci
also u use the same software as us
that's cool
well drawing is like drawing and painting, but 2d art can be printmaking, digital art, photography, etc
Good schedule. I see u doubled up on math and social studies
Honestly do ap world
and don't do hug
I would do AP precalc but i don’t have it at my school
you can always self study
oh ook
there's no point of the exam
for ap precalc
the point of taking ap precalc is get the ap credit in gpa
the exam is stupid
u probably won't get credit unless ur going to community college
Is the exam not a part of your grade like some other classes
do I have to take AP Calculus AB to take AP Calculus BC
no
but it's also depends on your school
but usually no
you’d prob get like placement higher tbh or a remedial math credit
Im going into my 10th grade year . Do u think my course selection is good. English 10H
AP calc AB Research chem, world history 2 , Naval science 2 , german 3 and ap environmental
or AP bio
IDK if my conselaur will allow me to take ap environmental
If kinda confused if i should take ap world?
might take advance marketing
i might do AP seminar
yup go for it, awesome class
its kind of confusing
what do u mean 3 and environmental?
oh ok
the seniors i talked tell me not to take it
yeah this is a good course selection
ap enviro is really easy
unless u want to go into envrionnmental sciences the class is useless
do bio instead
it’s for the credit cause i want to take independent research science DE
ok
but u also have like 4 years
and you're already doing three sciences this year, bio, chem, naval science
oh ok
but u still have two other sciences
and then junior and senior year
if u are interested in enviro, go ahead and do it, but if not, then do bio
hello
should i take (i can only pick 2)
lin alg
organic chemistry
AP stats
AP CS
Lin Alg and Organic Chemistry
I mean yes aps are cool
but the top two courses are probably dual enrollment
and stats and cs
really easy aps
they are only honors at my school
ik bu they're college level courses
really?
yeah
how they compare to like
or rate them on a scale of 1-10
wait arent easy aps good cuz i get the ap weight while not overloading
that's fien
take lin alg
for one at least
idk about the other
but lin alg is defo worth it
more so than things like ap stats, ap cs, and ochem
it's gonna get you a much easier time in college when you get there
and its a good course overall for math
imo lin alg will look mcuh better than stats or cs on a hs transcript as well
they don't even look at senior year gpa, so there's really no point in doing them for gpa
oh hmmm
wait fr?
i thought colleges saw first semester
but yea ill think abt it
i think ill ask my friends that took it and see
i’m confused on what to take for my junior year if highschool
as of right now i have : chemistry, ap lang, pre calc, band, and us history
im planning on doing a few concurrent classes as well
any advice on what i should take?
Hey I need advice for what I should take for my sophomore year of highschool?
Right now I’m taking honors algebra 3, ap world history, honors Spanish 2, and honors English. Should I take ap Chem or wait and take it next year
Any suggestions to my schedule as an incoming high school freshman? (We don’t get offered AP until 10th grade)
honors biology , honors geometry /honors algebra 2, honors english, world history, honors native spanish, and band
Mk so.
I’m currently in 8th grade (I am above the age of 13/is 13 thus do not violate COPPA or Discord’s ToS) and I am picking my HS classes soon
Now
I get great grades
So I’m not too worried about performing well
But
I don’t know what to take
take hard classes that youre interested in
I really wanna take ROTC but I dunno bout it
Like ROTC?
my school doesnt do it
Hey I need advice for what I should take for my sophomore year of highschool? Right now I’m taking honors algebra 3, ap world history, honors Spanish 2, and honors English. Should I take ap Chem or wait and take it next year
Here are the classes I’m prob gonna select for next year
I advise doing AP Chem when you want
Or when it feels tight
*right
Since I got no idea when you should take it
But these are the classes
Actually nvm
isnt ROTC more of a pe and disciple thing? I didnt think there was any academics to it.
that’s what they told us during the rotc presentation
ROTC has academics
should i take math 9 in summer school so i can have math 10 when I’m in gr 9
yeah
I’m really trying to get into AP chem, but my teacher is really resistant rn. I’m doing my best but what should I be doing to prep
ap chem is a very rigorous class to take, so it’s pretty difficult if you dont have a strong chem knowledge
if your teacher is really resistant about you taking ap chem, it probably means that yoy dont have a good chem foundation to take ap chem
take any prerequisites (that’s probably why the teacher is against it, if you haven’t taken them) and look at overviews to see what you will be learning and evaluate if you feel ready for them ig for the lack of better words
I picked my classes for next year! I'll be a junior and I'm excited and nervous at the same time for next year I'll be a fucking junior shit when did that happen so fast
Should I just take the hardest classes possible? Im doing pretty well in the classes im already in
if you can handle it
but takes what fits you best
if your stressing about hard class, dont take it
usually not worth
Guys, is it recommended to take an AP class in the first year of High School?
i mean, if you meet the prerequisites and you think that the class you choose is very easy, then go for it
i took AP Computer Science A during freshman
got a 4 (out of 5) from the exam lol
So far its mostly a’s and a-‘s
No b’s
I’ve also heard that college don’t really care about if its an a- or an a+, or do the top college care about that
u should do ap chem soph I'm doing that
yeah do it
Ap csp
and Ap hug
really easy
Ap world and AP csa I also recommend
Would it be better to get a B in an AP class or an A in a honors class (a class unrelated to what i plan to major in in college). They are weighted the same in the weighted GPA.
need advice deciding for courses next year.
i mean, it really depends on the course u wanna take
but for me, i’d take any honors class over regular class
having honor class on ur transcript is a good thing when you want to apply to college
Want me to send the classes and what I should take?
Its the hardest courses but idk if I’ll do well next year
sure
hey! I was wondering if someone could help me out: I am choosing classes for next year and I am not sure if I should take honors chemistry or not. Next year I am taking: AP Euro, Honors English 2, Honors Algebra 2, Volleyball and Culinary. I took honors biology this year, and stuggled a bit, but I only took one other honors class.
Basically ap calc bc, and im spending one of my electives on ap physics 1, honors chem, APUSH
I also don’t know what to take for my other elective
Ap stats or starting the comp sci pathway
are those course your current one? or the next year one?
Next year
what do u want to major in?
This year ap calc ab ap world and other honors
if u want to major in comp sci, go for the comp sci pathways
But the problem with comp sci is that I spent all my time on math and nothing on it
But I also like it more
i’d say go for bc
Yeah Defo bc
Yup, its gonna be better cuz Im taking harder classes
apush however
im not sure
since apush is a difficult class
like really difficult
are you doing good on ap world history rn?
Yeah its pretty difficult but I still get A’s
also chem isnt too hard so i’d say go for it
u could always go computer science as a minor
doesnt have to be major
Hmm maybe
Cuz the only thing I have done relayed to comp sci (other than self learning) is like a hacksthon in 7th grade
Hey, im applying for my high school classes but im not sure what to do.
1 - language
Im deciding between spanish and french. For spanish, i feel like its more useful. BUT most ppl who are taking spanish is jumping to spanish 2 because they already previously did spanish electives. For french, im just more interested in it and i heard the class (in my school at least) is very laid back / lenient. Plus, all my friends are taking it too so itll be more fun and we could work together. However, im not sure if french would be as useful as spanish. I really don’t know what to do :,D
2 - PE / sports
Our school offers sports /sports teams instead of PE (sports split into three seasons, winter, spring and fall). I heard the PE teacher is really bad/mean and just isnt a good teacher. I also wanna try doing a sport, (at least one season) but im not sure how intense it is or how much dedication you need or how good you need to be for the sport. I heard you need to practice for the sport every day though, but again im not sure about the details (eg how long, when exactly, after or during school, etc). Currently i dont do any sports except skiing for fun so im pretty inexperienced. I know I can still practice over the summer, and im interested in joining field hockey. I just think itll be fun + i need exercise + I dont want to be screamed at by a mean PE teacher for the WHOLE year.
Also, the biggest concern is that ill look bad to colleges if i dont do at least one season of a sport when my school even offers it. I dont want them to think im lazy because i dont do a sport, tbh i dont really want to if its TOO big of a commitment because it’ll get in the way of my studying or work time. So, im really not sure what to do.
What do you guys suggest? Thank you so much!
does anyone here go to a stem school?
idk much about sports, but it's fine if u just do one season imo. For language, I'm taking french, and u might think I'm biased, but I think french is more useful is u consider the world as a whole. Unless u are planning to be in South America/Mexico u don't really need spanish
french can usually be applied in areas like physics and math
and I feel like french can be a little moe challenging with the grammar and rules, but it gets really fun as you go further.
French culture is really fun too
tho spanish is also a great subject,
French??.
How does it apply to that lmao
Take chinese if theres that
Pe how many years do u need it
that's mostly for old research, because there were many french physicians and mathematicians
chinese is good but they asked for french vs spanish
Ok
I gave them another suggestion
ik but chinese is not that popular of an option amongst high schools
Thank you both!
And i dont plan on taking chinese (we do have it tho), its personally not my thing lol (like the writing and stuff)
Two i think
it is in my school 💀💀💀
stupid state requirement
Mhm, but would it look bad if i do no seasons at all?
thats why i said popular
Aww 😭
but it all comes down on what do you want to learn
well matters. if you like sports then do it. if not, it's fine, just do clubs and stuff
Thanks!
👍
Hello.
I am a freshman in high school and I just took the ALEKS math placement test to enter my local community college. I got placed into MTH 251 (Calculus 1) and I am not sure whether I should take it or not as I feel like it may be too much for me. I am quite confused as to why I got placed into that class considering the test mostly consisted of Algebra 1/2 and trig. Is it wise to just take precalculus 2 since I know a decent amount of precalculus 1 or should I accept the offer into MTH 251 and self study any prerequisite information that I should know? Should I know any details specifically regarding MTH 251?
Hopefully this is the right channel, I couldn't decide between this channel and school-advice.
Chinese>
Uh just take pe
Wtf calculus as a freshman
😨
should i take robotics or computer science 9 if i dont have alot of knowledge of it
i wonder if ap human geography is hard because i wanna take it
is ib English hard
Hello,
I'm currently a junior and I got my course selections Tuesday/Thursday. I got all my credits done and out of the way (Just need English 4 and Civics/Econ {One class}) and I'm wondering if colleges will accept a shortened schedule for my senior year. I got recommended to take AP Physics 2, AB Calc, and AP Stat next year. {I've never taken an AP class before and I'm barely holding onto a B haha}. I know if I were to take those classes, I'd most likely fail hard and my GPA would drop lower {GPA now is a 3.3 (messed up freshman year)}. You think taking Mathematics for College Algebra would look like too much of a step down from taking honors pre-calc and honors physics this year?
Thanks for any insight!
hey, is physics worth taking in grade 11? i need some advice, because course selections are due soon, and one of the programs i wanna get into kinda recommends it so im not sure if i should take it or not..if you had any advice, please ping me
@left inlet Honestly, It's a hard class. You're gonna have to spend a lot of nights doing problems. It's more math than anything too. The two teachers I've had this year have been really good and explain the stuff well but I don't know about your school. I'd try and find kids who take the class already and ask about their workload/how the teacher is.
I'd also think about getting a bunch of those cheap notebooks with a lot of paper for practice work/notes
I've gone through about two of em for physics but I've 100% used more of the space for pre-calc
Thanks for your advice, I'll see who i can ask, and yea, im pretty sure it depends on the school and teachers as well, but just a question, would you prefer math more or physics? like which one is better in your opinion since you took it?
ah okay, so a lot of note taking and hw as well, thanks for the tip
