Principles of Biomedical science
oh ok
and then what are the 3 other classes?
Well, this is my schedule atm:
STEM lit
PBS
Spanish
Lunch
Geometry
STEM bio
ASL
oh ok
and that's 7 classes?
so why do u need to drop one
Because this year I didn’t take humanities, next year I need to take AP world
Yea Lunch is it’s own period
Oh! I have 9 periods, 6 classes
huhhh?
what are the three other periods
Lunch, advisement, ASE
ok
I'd recommend giving up ASL
unless u need it for a major or to communicate with a relative
im very conflicted between apush or dc us history
im taking like 5.5 other aps + starting a club + officer for another club + potentially track + sat prep + i want to focus on my own passions (which i dont think ill have much time for but its ok) so i dont know if ill have time for apush, but dc is ap weighted so idk
also im trying to have a stem major in college (rice is reach school) so idk if ill need it
yeah that's good
do dc
if u get the ap credit
do dc
im also on the edge about ap precal
not ap credit its just ap weighted on gpa
and also ap spanish im on the edge abt
cuz its time consuming idk if ill have the time for it
cuz u can get credit for dc
I would do it
but i also want to carry through with foreign language cuz itll look good on apps
what are ur aps
the only thing abt taking all of these aps is that i dont want to kill myself next year
dw I'm doing 6 aps junior year
if u play it right
u won't kill urself
ap physics
ap english 3
ap psych (easy class) + track (potentially)
apcsa
and my other 3 that im on the edge about are
ap precal
apush
ap spanish 4
Is that lang?
yea
how do you know lol
csa ez
its not even out
not even subjective, literally no one knows
its like top 20ish in texas
psych is literally the easiest ap exam by pass rate, review, and my friends' personal experiences
psych is easy for sure
im talking about ap precalc
but precal is more conceptual
yes it is so many colleges offer it
do the top ones do?
Maybe community colleges and stuff
but calc is usually the one seen as college math
also csa is ez(personal experience)
how do i figure out what aps i should take for the universitys i wanna go to
i am positive
csa im taking for sure
i would say do all of these except apush
if u feel like u will have trouble
or else go with all of them
apush is easy but like its time consuming just like all my other classes
yeah i heard apush has lots of homework
im gonna have endless studying to do regardless idk if i wanna add more to it
well like
there are other majors besides stem
ap precalc u can call ez because it's barely a college course
in comparison to whap its easier at our school according to current juniors
oh wow
some nursing majors i know are taking college precalc/algebra
and i have a 99 currently in whap so
only reason i struggled in whap last sem because of diagnosed mental issues
this logic is
💀
and i still ended with an a
there's nothing wrong with this logic
I looked at the course
I looked at the exam
it's basically honors level
precalc
at a high school
also diagnosed mental issues might interfere with the 6 aps im planning on taking next year LMAO
collegeboard just made it to get more money
the content has nothing to do with the difficulty
ap physics is the same content as honors physics as well
it's not a class to worry about
theres a difference.
not true
it is the exact same curriculum at my school
6 aps is fine
yet ap physics has a 60% average
yea im guessing im making it sound worse than it is
you are aware that collegeboard is a nonprofit?
theyre easy but time consuming
also easy is a subjective word lol
haha yes, but non profit also means non loss
csa is not too time consuming(at my school)
lang yes
spanish yes
precalc I still think u shouldn't worry about it too much
either way ap precalculus is a very important and in need class, they arent just doing it for money
ap spanish 4 is easier than preap spanish 3 and slightly less time consuming
im mostly worried about time
its really important to standardize it
cuz with sat prep and everything its not worth
its important for seniors who don't get to calc
the international mathematics olympiad is high school level math
notice the word olympiad
it's a competition
meant to trick people
and make them think
many students are unprepared for calculus since precalculus differs so much from school to school
ap precalc will do a much better job of preparing students for ap calc
youre saying ap precalc wont make you think?
precalc will make you think
but not to the level of imo
ofc, but not college level doesnt mean its not hard
precalculus is not hard if u paid attention in algebra ii
I think you're overestimating Advanced placement
im just saying you cant straight up call ap precalc free
it is tho
when we dont even have a course framework yet
cap
youve failed to provide any proof
I literally saw it yesterday
there is proposed one, its not solidified yet or in depth at all
i provided plenty of proof
what are the cons of dual credit us history
not my fault u didn't consider it
cuz literally nobody takes it at my school
credit might not always be tranferable
what i got out of you is "its not college level so its easy!!"
It's not only that but it's basically just precalc honors
the whole point of adding the ap to it
was to make seniors
familiar
to a math ap experience
that's collegeboard's entire point
how do yk
like where are you getting this
proof for what statement specifcally
I took a look the exam
questions
literally the same difficulty
as reg precalc
honors*
the exam questions are released?
some of the questions
not from the exam in 2024
I'm not denying that ap precalculus is not important
I'm just saying that it's not as hard and worrisome as people claim it is
and that people shouldn't be stressing about it during course selection
okay
The Mathematical Association of America has described students’ struggle with math as “the most significant barrier” to college completion. Forty percent of college students lack sufficient math experience in high school to enroll in college-level math, often spending valuable time and money on remedial math courses that don’t count toward their degrees. Nearly half of these students fail to fulfill the math requirement, contributing to long-running inequities in college success.
AP Precalculus is designed to address those challenges. Developed by college math professors and high school math teachers, AP Precalculus will create a new pathway to college-level math in high school. By making an advanced math course available to students regardless of where they begin their high school math journey,
from collegeboard
the whole purpose it to make sure people take precalc in high school as an ap so they can get credit for it
there's nothing about level
or anything
um yeah
so how are you just straight up claiming its free
i dont know it just kind of rubbed me the wrong way, esp as you dont know of their prior math skills
.
Course list for senior year:
Criminal Investigations (Magnet Program)
Advanced Band
Dual Enrollment IST Pathway( 3 periods)
American Government Honors (Semester I or II only)
Econ Honors (Semester I or II only)
Calculus I/II DE (Online/Personal time)
Is this too much for senior year? I'm currently handling 9 classes(1 DE, 3 Honors, 2 maths) junior year with all A's first semester.
eh, the classes seem easy enough so I'd say no
Your sport
Is ap capstone worth it?
^^^ same question
I think it is
Because I looked at the practice ap precalc questions
both mcqs and frqs that were available
and then I looked at the actual course content
again
My point is that people, unless they're skipping some sort of math in between, do not have to worry about AP precalc as an AP class and can think of it like an honors class instead of over worrying about it
ap precalc is literally a college board cash grab
no colleges are gonna except it for credit
Band is a distinguishment for college, just as valedictorian is.
I wouldn't know what to do in your situation as my school does valedictorian by unweighted gpa, so our valedictorians just take normal level classes and get it
we has 22 last year
i said that
you probably did
both of the new ap classes are just excuses for them to get more money imo
said that collegeboard is a non profit
Precalc is a class needed for GenEd, but for all 4 years it’s typical for 1 sem of calc being required
fr
precalc
psych has some use
that one only benefits@music majors
yeah music majors
my brother is taking it this year and he’ll get upper division credit for it
But yeah Ap precalc is fine for people not considering math as a major
but like otherwise pretty much honors and not college level
but explain that to boxfox
yeah- it’s like a good alternative to senior year math for those who have to take it
My school only requires 2 years of math so
oh
i think it's unfair that our school requires 3 years of math but 4 years of literature
but we require 4 years of pe ;-; you can tell what our school values more
my state only requires districts to require 3 years of english
we have that too
that's a state requirement for us
I tried doing driver'ss over the summer but then I still had to replace it with a pe
like that's so stupid
theres always online and summer
my state only requires 1 freshman year and than 1 other year long course that has pe aslexts
my school doesn’t let you
we have to take pe every semester of high school
we’re supposed to
so even if we do something over the summer
we still have to do it
during the semester
I got an exception to take my year during the summer this year bc i was taking another one course
pe *
lucky
like it's so stupid
driver's ed
exempts us from one sem of pe
but then if u do driver's ed over the summer, u still have to do one sem of pe
drivers ed isn’t a class here so we have to pay for it seperately to get our permits
we have to pay but they offer it as a class
we have the thing with health, where if you take it during the school year, you have to take an ethnic studies class.
oof
which literally teaches kids to bully white people not even joking
anyways, lemme go finish my hmwk that I've been stretching out for like 4 hrs
lol
bye
bye
Hey guys I have a problem
I am in eighth grade and I have course sign ups
And I don’t know what AP classes to take
And if I should take 1 or two
which classes are they
do you have a general understanding or nothing at all
I'm currently a sophomore taking Spanish 2 and I really don't like it. I was always advised to take Spanish 3 next year to be more competitive, but I just don't like spanish. Should I replace my spanish 3 next year with another class thats not language?
did u take spanish 1 last yr
yeah
Nothing at all sorry
do u really truly think that another course that isnt spanish will be somehting u enjoy a lot
like
dw
if i were to ask ur fav subject
what would u say
or even just do u like writing essays or doing math
I would say math and the computer science classes
personally id recommend ap world first bc its probably the easiest out of the ones you mentioned
try a discrete math course if you have one at your school
depends
sadly my school doesn't offer any
i personally thought physics 1 was easier than any humanities course but then again i hate humanities
is this a good schedule for an (upcoming) junior or is it going to be too overwhelming (2.5 credit classes are semester classes and 5 credit classes are full-year classes)
There are many more like APES
out of the ones offered which ones are you considering the most
I am considering world history
probably a good choice for a first AP
p chill
imo ur good
Take all your required courses that you need to graduate first
I’m currently 8th grade, going into high school in September. We just had our course selection, but we can still change. I’m wondering some opinions on my selection (We get 3 electives in grade 9)
1. Japanese 9
2. Drafting, Design, Animation 9
3. Business 9
4. Textile Arts and Crafts 9
5. Information Communication Technologies
A lot of people who go to my future high school said business sucks and all they give is homework, I’m not sure if I should take it/move it to a lower spot.
(I am applying for science 9/10 though so it will take the spot of my last choice out of the 3 if I get in)
P.S. I’m probably going to switch infotech to electronics/energy
Im in 8th grade choosing my high classes for next year, and wondering if I should take English Honors or normal english. Is it a big deal?
And if i do want to take sophomore honors english there isn’t a prerequisite that includes honors freshman english
Which course is better in your opinion (CS/Computer science or Software engineering) and what should I do to increase my chances in getting in those courses in some top schools
You should take it, especially if that will be your only honors class. Sophomore year will be much busier so it’s nice to be a little prepared for that
Help
Marine studies, sport studies or art?? Art is my fav, but what would be most beneficial?
My school has two concert choir classes. You have to audition for one of them, and you can get honors credit in the class if you complete certain requirements. However, I am worried that I am not good enough to be in it. Should I try out for it if I want that honors credit? My choir director told me that he can work more with my voice in that class.
Beneficial to who? The world or you
hey I have a quick question going to MIT after doing IIT Bombay fine like an student tell me?
and how to use the "Net price calculator"?
Just try out, can’t you always level down?
take english honors
it's fine
try it
if u fail
drop it
Hello I’m in 10th grade currently and I was wondering if I should take regular algebra 2 or algebra 2H and if I should take regular US History or APUS?
I'm doing basketball, AP physics, AP biology AP latin and AP Quimics.
Also I'm doing every Thursday every week a 1 hour private table tennis class and I'm also doing also cientific Olympics I got 3 bronze medals 1 gold medal and 6 silver medals my goals was 24 but screw it
I’m in grade 9 going into grade 10 and I’m wondering if I should go into math honours 10, I plan on studying computer science at university
I am a freshmen, planning to take AP Comp Sci Principles and AP World History during my sophomore year. Is it worth taking?
Senior classes I'm picking
Economics (Required)
Medical interventions (Required)
Ap language (Required)
Novice strength training
Backup: Orchestra and help desk
So unfortunately this isn't enough classes so they're probably gonna force me to pick a bunch of random ones
is chemistry hard? I'm taking it next year (as a sophomore)
Yes. Or at least a lot find it challenging. It was my worst subject. I would choose physics over chem. But, don't let that stop you. If it is important in your career field, take it.
AP World History?
Never took it 🤷🏽♀️
should i take aps not related to my feild of interest? i wanna go into business but am debating taking ap physics next year
I’m wondering if I should take honors or just regular? What’s the difference?
My school does not offer ap but it offers honors
Honors classes are just classes at a higher-level than regular classes. Expect more challenging work. Or more work than a regular class. Honors classes also raise your gpa. Although, not as much as ap classes. This might not be true at all schools so you should ask
I will ask thx
Imo its more beneficial to take an ap related to what career you're interested in. But if you enjoy it, go for it. It might make you consider other things. Ap statistics would probably match more with business.
yeah the only aps i can take next year are apush (planning on taking) and ap physics
i wanna show that i have course rigor but i also dont wanna fail yk
I need some help here I need to take a language next year between Core 10 French and Spanish level 2. My parents forced me to take both for next year. But I only want to take Spanish as I suck at French. What should I do?
Well yeah I think you should consider it then. Ap classes no matter what you pick are still good college preparation
thanks!
Take the class you want. If French isn't necessary and you don't enjoy it, by all means, don't waste your time.
What Aps are recommended to be taken in High School?
yes
Is this a good Junior schedule:
Math 4 Honors
Math 5 Honors
AP Statistics
AP Lang or lit haven’t decided
AP Amer Gov
AP Macroeconomics
AP Environmental Science
Chemistry
Lifes Issues
I’m worried if I don’t take enough AP classes I’ll regret it and if I take too many I’ll hate myself for being overwhelmed
Hi people! Just wanted to get on here and share that as a freshman going into high-school that I will be taking honors 9th grade lit comprehensive
Honors geometry ap human geography honors Spanish 2 and honors Latin 2 I am ecstatic as my distracted high-school allows for only 1 ap class and the requirements are quite rigorous just wanted to put our my wxcitment
this is a good schedule
take lang first
and then lit senior year
some of the aps u took are pretty easy so don't worry about overwhelming urself
If you had to rank them easiest to hardest how would u rank it?
Ok so
First would be Lit
then Gov
Then lang
then macro
then enviro science
then stats
imo
but macro, enviro, and stats are pretty easy(so you won't be overwhelming yourself)
gov and whatever english you choose would be the difficult ones
also 3 maath classes in a year
good luck
Okiee, I’m extremely interested in Math and History/Government and I perform exceptionally in History classes so yea
I’m also having a growing interest in some science and English is a good thing to get better at tbh
That's the same for me
Anyways
Oh! W you 😂
So, at my school you need to take 8-16 classes, the classes you take have to add up too 8.0 Credits
16 classes?
wow
our maximum classes is 8 and minimum is 7
but one of them has to be PE
Cool!
It depends, usually there 1.5 hrs, but if you have whats know as a “skinny” it splits up one of ur hours in half so a skinny would be like 45 ish mins
oh
so they're like weekly block classes?
so u don't have the same schedule daily?
You do, but the hour is like split so you can fit all your classes in, usually if you have a skinny at my school, it’s for Band or APUSH
ok
So yea! W year you would say?
anyways
it is a W year
I like ur course selection
if u can
definitely consider ap chem
otherwise everything else is good
I kinda wanna do that Senior yr
Whats that
lanuage other thn english
oh ok
good luck
bye
Thanks dude (:
guys should i take ap human geo as a senior or no
if it's something that you want to do, then yeah
So next year I'm thinking of taking the 2 semesters of wind ensemble - AP English language - Math 3 (honors) - Pre calculus (honors by default) - Physics (honors) - and drafting 3 architecture (honors by default)
What are your thoughts on this
good, but I would recommend more Aps as a junior
there is a new Ap precalculus course being released
and Ap physics
I know but I there are only 8 classes I can take throughout the year, so I don't have time to fit anymore in
Senior year I can stick AP calculus and AP American history or AP government
ik but some of these classes like physics and math could be changed to ap
That would mean they take up another period
Physics is one that I wanted as an AP but didn't have the time for
Should I take German or French? Over two or three years, which one is easier? I don't have a preference
I took french hated it, I know someone who knows both though and they suggest french, they say it's easier
Be aware languages like French and German get harder as you go on
A language like Arabic is the opposite
It starts hard but it gets progressively easier
Do you know anything about Spanish?
My school only supports spanish, german, and french
I recommend french
Spanish is similar though I recommend it the most
I think it's a truly global language
My school doesn’t offer that many APs
If I get into dual enrollment at a university, will that sort of make it up?
Spanish fluency can be a great skill mainly in the US Because of the large Hispanic population
yup
yeah, but like US is an english country
if u know english
u will suffice
in europe and africa, French can be really helpful
and in terms of business, french would be more helpful in my opinion
Yes they will, you could talk with your school counselor they can offer information about dual enrollment
oh ok ty
My school offers a bunch of APs, but there’s not that many interest..
I think I’ll only be able to take Macro, Psychology, and Comp Sci this year
Also, to bring german into this 😅 I live in Wisconsin, which I heard has a big german population? I'm not sure if it'd help though
Yes but in an area like Texas or California where the Hispanic population is very large acting as an interpreter can be a sought after skill, this isn't towards every job though, but I agree globally French would be better
do u plan on staying in Wisconsin
Yes, but i might move out for college for a bit
Yes Germans are a big population there. However not a DIRECT population mostly, so they probably know English just fine.
After all there is a German exchange student here and he speaks English excellent
Okay, so basically ruling out german..
For french, I'm scared I won't be able to use it that much, as I'm planning on being something like a psychologist or (back-up) teacher.
But I guess this would also apply to Spanish
Well for that go for french, you can get jobs as a psychologist outside of the US and french would be your second most common language for that.
Though if you are working in a K-12 school system Spanish is the way to go. Working as an assistant professor or actual psychologist would be better for french
So most of the population who speaks spanish are young?
I did a bit of research, and spanish has basically double the # of total speakers, and way more native speakers
No it works like this
Most of the population that speaks Spanish are immigrants, and their kids need to go to school. Those kids either grow up in a primarily Spanish speaking household or even community, or are coming speaking Spanish directly from a native country
So working in k-12 involves the children of immigrants and immigrant parents. That's why knowing Spanish is more applicable for that area.
Okay, thank you. I'm going to ask some of my highschool friends about it too, but I will keep your idea in mind.
Definitely, my parents work in ESL so I have some knowledge in that field
Also, for my math classes, I want to take precalc1 and precalc2, would I then sign up for both? I don't know how my school system works exactly, and you don't choose new classes in the middle of semesters.
I would take regular calculus, in my school you take pre cal (only one) and than you can move on to AP calculus
So do something like that
how long is your precalc class? All year or just one semester?
Semester
Weird okay, I'm going to ask my brother rq. I'll be back in a second as he was planning on taking the same stuff. (13 & 17 in the same class 😎 )
Alright, so my brother said pc1 is a prerequisite for pc2 which is a prerequisite for calc
so I would need to do pc1 and pc2
probably something with math, like a teacher, or stuff with the mind, which sounds interesting
You might not get the college credit not all schools give it
But don’t worry about trying to make it up because schools won’t punish you for not taking APs if there are not many offered
Just take whatever the highest classes are
Than totally take them (and yes if you want to do that definitely take Spanish) if you want to go into teaching also consider taking AP psychology. Also, in my school "teaching as a professional" as a course you can take. There are also internship opportunities. You can also take other CTE classes like Microsoft excel, or Microsoft word and power point as useful skills to have in that profession.
Alright, will do. I would have to take ap psychology later on high school, since the teachers said the only ap class you can take is so hug
Hug?
sorry, ap human geography
which i’ve asked around and i’m probably not going to take it, as that is basically the one subject i’m not good in
I'm going to high school next year and my high school offers an IB program as well as AP. Which one should I take?
depends on what you are planning on doing in the future, and if you are ready for a bunch of homework :/ If you take basically all ap, you might not have time at all after school for extracurriculars or even just free time in general. But if you do, make sure you get at least 7 hours of sleep :)
Does taking both sat and act look better than just sat
seems like an ez class
8th grader here. I am beginning to choose my high school classes. Too many interest me. The classes in the S.T.E.M field greatly interest me such as Construction, Welding, HVAC, Robotics, Electricity, or literally anything else in that field. I would also like to take the principal classes of culinary arts (so that I can get a food sanitary certification allowing more job offers) and either accounting or business management. It is definitely a big list, so my question to you is, how should I choose? How did you choose?
Paraphrased: I am interested in many classes for high school. How do you recommend I choose?
Extra information: I get a certification in welding within the first year (teacher said some students got it on week 4-5), a certification in construction (at some point - not sure when), a certification in HVAC (same situation as construction), a certification in culinary arts after the first year. In robotics I get to learn C++, some metal working (for robot chasiss), and overall math nerd stuff (stuff I love).
so ap has more hw than ib?
I was in the same spot as you last year. I just made a 4-year plan and looked at each elective. A few things to consider are the graduation requirements(get the ones you can out of the way), the teacher(if you have older friends), and the grade level(Ex, 9, 11-12, etc)
I'm going into sophomore year, how does this list of classes look?
AP Euro/World Hist(undecided)
English 2
H Alg2/Trig
H Chem
AP CS Principles
PE
Health and a language in the summer
bbbcc
Looks good
How do I make my guidance convince to take 5 college courses
I don't think u need to
u can take them
by talking to ur college
I don't think ur counselor needs to give permission
Ha
U wanna do 5 college courses
Know ur limits lmao
Even if u convince them, their gonna say no
U need to know ur stuff to do stuff like this
She does
I know them and I wanna increase then , crucial time helps increase limits
Gl
Is this a Good Grade 10 Course load?. Career Studies (Required) , World Religions (Required) , English (Required) , Canadian History (Required) , Civics (Required) , Science (Required) , Core French grade 10 (Required) , Spanish 2 (Elective) , Computer Science Grade 11 (Elective) , Functions Grade 11 (Required). Keep in mind I am in Canada.
Yeah that's good
Because college is separate for high schol
as long as u have enough tme
u can register by yourself
maybe lessen it tho
3
courses
good
Nah I feel like they are good cause summer time
Ik but my college asks for permission
Towards it
oh during the summer
then that's even better
yup do 5
but
anyways
your college does?
Then why is your counselor saying no
it's your summer
there's nothing else ur doing
ur grades are good
guys if i want to focus on research and science is this good for my stream selection for next year (i’m 10th grade choosing for 11th): science, maths, physics-chem ?
That is a good reason
I guess I will do that
Hello, has anyone completed A levels or IB programme? If so, which should I take and was your experience good?
Thanks for the help - will consider these things.
Does it help to self study before taking like ap chem and bio
I’m taking them next year along with a bunch of other APs and my teacher has this thing with his website where we cna see what ap Chem is doing even tho we’re in honors
And I thought that it’d be best to study before hand after looking at how hard it is but idk if it’ll be a waste of time or
i mean you certainly can an it wouldnt be a waste of time at all
you mentioned your taking several more aps which i assume are time consuming so study ahead of time is a great idea
my only concern would be if the teacher goes in a different direction than what you studied, but you said you have access to see what the teacher is doing
Idk how effective it’ll be . I just don’t want to get a bad grade in my sciences because I plan on going into stem
Yea. Idk if he knows that we have access to see what ap Chem does
it certainly doesnt hurt to get ahead
ap courses tend to follow a direction that can be known
i plan on studying ap chem ahead of time for next year
Rn I’m jsut reading Chem encyclopedias to expand my foundational knowledge
I have Chem lab as a scioly event so it’s kind of helpful ig but electrochem only comes in at the last part of ap Chem from what I saw
Yea
i belive Princeton review has one
My school library has it but it’s only for like viewing not working
ofc
Idk if to get one for psych and seminar also
ehh i dont think that's necessary
im take ap lang and comp and its fine without the book
I have a total of 6 APs so I just want to prep for any that might be slightly difficult
Our apush teacher is really good so I’m not concerned about it
haha no but surely I will not regret my decision
Gonna die
I’m familiar with both the ap Chem and bio teacher tho so I think it won’t be as bad in those along with self study. Apush is chill and people say good things about the ap psych teacher also so
Yo I had a question do you think I should do 5 or more during summer since that is a great opportunity that will be hard in high school year
I could do more
Since that reason is good enough
Or prolly self study ap classes and sat/act
Why not
All college requires it
Because it’s not for UCs
Wat is ucs
University of California
I'm also doing 6 junior year
Ayeee fellow masochist
Yeah I would recommend 5 or less because more than that can be a little hard (don't forget you're doing college courses over the summer so they're faster paced and cover more content) Yes, but if u have extra time, then study for ap classes u will be taking next year
also some extracurriculars
Hmm thx for a great advice I will do that
Can y’all help me decide which science class to take next year? I’m a freshman who really loves math and physics, and I most likely want to pursue a career in a similar subject. I reallyyyyy want to take AP Physics next year (and then AP Physics C the following year), but a lot of people have told me that it is more logical to take chemistry (honors) sophomore year and then start physics, so there isn’t a gap year. I have my heart set on physics but now I’m considering taking chem next year instead. I don’t know which class to choose. Any recommendations?
Thanks!
do y’all know what flight plan is
what would be any other good subjects to enroll in if im planning to become a commercial pilot? i know math, english and physics are good but not sure what else
should i take AP computer science and intro to programming at the same time, (no prior knowledge needed for both). the computer sci class is about 50% programming and 50% other stuff
I recommend doing chem first andd then do Ap phys junior and senior
this
because ur college major will be more closely related to physics
it will be more relatable if u do physics last
im planning to take apush, ap lang, and ap calc ab next year alongside ap chem, but my school requires that i either take ap physics or physics honors alongside ap chem. the honors physics teacher at my school is notoriously a horrible teacher, and makes the class harder than ap physics. ap physics teacher is far better, but im worried that taking 5 aps next year will be too overboard. should i take ap physics or physics honors?
Anyone who has experiences with taking HUMSS?
Hello! I took Intro to Programming and APCSA together. Intro to Programming is probably the easiest class ever. I haven't taken CSP, but I heard it is also an easy class and an "intro to Comp Sci". I would recommend solely taking APCSP because it's basically the same as Intro to Programming with more content. However, it's up to you; if you think taking them at the same time will benefit you, then take it. But, imo, it's not necessary to take them together. Hope this helps!
Hi! For next year I'm confused on whether I should take AP lang or not becuase first of all I don't like reading nonfiction and my essay skills aren't that great. But I want to take it to wave it off freshmen yr of college. What should I do, take it or not?
Is ap world history, ap economics, ap chem, ap computer science principles, and honors English in the same year doable?
I say if he is gonna do physics as a major the ap physics classes are useless
Btw anyone think it is possible to complete 2 Associates in high school?
Hey guys i am in class 9 i personally have chosen computer science and i like it but do you have any suggestions what to do to improve on it
no they're not
because college physics is much harder
also they can start off from a higher level because they already finished intro level stuff
mhm
I have a firned doing that
friend
any theatre majors out there? if so, did u regret majoring in theater, and would recommend going for it as a minor instead? theatre is my main interest but i can see why it'd be hard to find a career w a theatre major
Ik they just give the experience tho and not credits
There is no intro level requirement class it is gonna help to complete his degree
R u stupid??
For example cs degree in college has no intro to cs credits in it you just gotta start with programming unlesss you are not aware of anything, they do have intro to cs courses tho
What?????
?
Ap physics and physics major won’t take intro credits
Ap gives college credit and colleges want rigor
What? True but the major you doing and it’s intro credits are useless
Other ap classes useful to get the requirements finished
Wdym by intro credits
Like humanities and ap lit
They really don’t have intro college course like intro to physics they just start with real deal
U stupid lmao
Whatever
lol what
they do
if you want to be a physics major, you should specifically take AP physics courses
you do earn credit for them too lmao
what are you saying bro 😭
@silent tinsel if u don’t know stuff then i wouldnt give advice like that
im stressin out about what APs to choose next year for senior year bc i wanna major in comp sci and i dont think i've prepared myself enough for a good app
they will
if not credit
they will
at least
let you do higher level stuff earlier
so u wouldn't have to do the intro stuff
and could get deeper into your major
u don't have to use language like this
like look at selina
she told him nicely
Don’t talk to me
I have no interest, but I have to because u cannot give advice kindly
Hi as a freshman I need some advice... would taking 3 ap classes be too much?
Or should I do 1 ap and 2 honors
Usually it’s better to only take a few APs in freshmen year
Like 1 or 2
Some schools let Freshmen take none
If you think you can handle it, then go for it.
Self study comp Sci principles this year, it’s super easy
Then next year do comp Sci A
Depends on which ones
I only did one (AP Human Geo) and it was really easy
Highly recommend ones like AP Hug, Apes, AP Comp Sci Principles or AP Psych for freshman
Those are jokes
Okay thank you
3 is too much, I don’t wanna detour you from not doing it but I think the best would be 1 or 2 (my school doesn’t let freshman take AP)
3 is probably doable tbh, but your just a freshman and I would recommend take classes to prepare you for the ap’s
I'll keep that in mind thanks
No problemo
I’m taking ap aci and it’s insanely easy
i recommend 2 APs
best number for freshmen year
how hard is ap environmental science
well it's an ap class, so I hope you know that it's going to be pretty vigorous and you're gonna have to actually pay attention in class (i know, snore). at my school for some ap classes you have to do some mild homework over the summer before you do the class, and then there's a big test in the following may (though your school may not do this, if you dont know ask a teacher). but, if youve done ap classes before then I'd say you're set on that and you know what to expect level-wise. next, make sure this is a subject you'll like/ you would want to have for college (ex. if you want to have a career as someone who would need to take that class)
i cant say much other than that because im a freshman lol, and sorry for the giant paragraph!!
In my school its pretty easy, yeah the ap test is really hard
Really easy
Like
A complete joke
alright thanks guys
course selection is about to come up, so i might as well just ask rn
im fast tracking, so im taking grade 11 math in grade 10, and im thinking whether i should take 2 grade 12 math courses in grade 11, this is bc the place where i live, we must take another grade 12 class (prerequisite) to take calculus and vectors, but i was also wanting to take a break from math, so i kinda only wanna take 1 math in gr 11, but im not really sure which would be better... ive been told that it's good to have the grade 12 marks by the first half of grade 12
ping me if you have any advice for me, thanks (edited)
i think taking just one is a good idea. is it a year-long course?
1 semester, 6 months
but im doubting tho, ppl say it's better to have your marks in as fast as possible, as uni apps begin in gr 12
Is this a good sophomore year schedule:
AP Bio
AP Calc AB
AP US Gov (Magnet required)
Honors English 10 (Magnet required)
CAP Journalism (Magnet Required)
CAP News Writing(magnet required)/CAP Broadcast Journalism (magnet required)
Spanish 5
Student Leadership (SGA Class)
omg you're in spanish 5??
that seems good, if you feel like you can take on that much
ur in a magnet program too? thats p cool
does anyone know if american literature honors is generally difficult?
Should I take as many weighted classes as I can to max out my GPA or just have 1 studyhall for a slightly lower gpa and a chance at missing valedictorian
are these good classes to take going into my freshmen year
It's good that your taking a good amount of aps while also having the rest as honors
do you have any other possible schedules, @sullen hearth ?
wdym
like any options
wait should i takephysics or chem freshmen eyar
maybe besides intro to engineering design
ap or honors
chem honors and physics i cant take honors or ap yet
i can take normal
physics
i'd rec chem honors
ok
and also
should i take fundamentals of computer science rather thentaking ap computer science princples
oh
because i dont have any prior knowledge about computer science
that's not needed
ok
How do i see my prior messages, is there any way>
I am currently in the 8th grade and applications for Freshman classes are available. AP Physics 1 and AP Biology are courses I could take, I am debating if I should take one. Any advice?
what would be any other good subjects to enroll in if im planning to become a commercial pilot? i know math, english and physics are good but not sure what else
getting ready for 11th grade: i plan on majoring in mechanical/aerospace engineering. should i take ap physics 2, ap chem, or ap physics c? (currently self-studying ap physics 1)
I would go for AP Bio
Hit the search icon on the side, click on from, then enter ur username
Currently in 10th grade, and gotta choose my classes soon but should I choose algebra 2 regular or honors, and regular US history or APUS?
I would go with alg 2 honors. I haven’t taken a history class yet so I can’t help you with that one but I would do apush
which wan should i get
ap vs dp vs cp
Really need help with deciding if I should take math honours, I do above average in my grade 9 class and I want to do computer science at ubc in the future should I take math honours 10
yeah that look really good
take physics 1
get it over with
do more than that
Honors alg ii, and try apush
Here’s my schedule for 10th grade next year:
Honors English 2
Earth space science
Regular geometry
Regular world history
Spanish 1
Digital information technology
What y’all think
Nah
Just 1 for me
I can’t keep up
And plus honors are way more faster
So I’ll stick with one
Yea
I play basketball for my school
JV
we lost in a playoff game tho
So our seasons over
Nice
Damn your gonna have so much homework
😭
Can you handle all that
Honestly, AP bio is good if you want toy enter something in bio or rlly anything else.
I’m currently in ap physics as a freshman rn and would say it is better if you want to do engineering, or are just not interested in bio.
I think physics c would be better(btw good luck with the physics 1 exam)
Calc 1
AP Calc BC
AP Chem
APUSH
Advanced Bio
Inorganic Chem
Phy Ed 12
Global Issues
Law
Might do AP Lang or something else idk (im doing Lit as a junior)
Is this a good Señior schedule (I’m a sophomore)
How difficult is it?
(AP Physics)
You tend to have to spend a lot of time not just having a base level understanding
And it takes A LOT of outside of school studying
Which would also apply to AP bio, but AP Physics 1 is the kind of course where you build off of previous units to a very large extent, and if you forget a lot from a unit you’re gonna be behind.
Should I take AP Physics 1 my freshman year or should I take Chem Honors? I want to take AP Physics but it might be too much work for me.
.
ap physis will work
it is possible
good schedule.
Like really good? I think its good,
yeah I think it's good
Wait so are some of ur other courses
like inorganic chem
college courses?
cuz some of these might be redunant and u can swicth them with smething else
It’s not considered college level, it’s just weighted
Inorganic Chem is required for AP Chem,
Also I wanna take Law and I am required to take PE
And Global
ok
ok
Guys what clases should i take for sophmore year like AP classes
Idk
But my 10th grade friends said that ap world history
And European history is good
Also seminar
should I take DE classes next year or just AP?
yo anyone here doing ap physics c: mechanics this year?
my next yr courses:
Ap Stats,
Ap Physics C Mech &EM( both in one year super fast paced)
AP Japanese
Ap gov/Econ
Myth
Drama honors
I recommend
is that senior year
that looks good
do a good mix of both
I personally wouldn’t do this
World history, european history, precalculus, economics, chemistry, computer science principles and computer science A
all of these are good
what's wrong with it
just asking
cuz my senior year schedule might be similar
I cant say
Should I take honors, AP, or norm physics
what year?
I'm in 10th.
Yep.
Ok sure
Y not take all of em?
Would you think3 APS are too mych?
.
I'd say 3 aps is goo
Ok
junior year is the hardets year
I would actually recommend more
probably 4-5
and if u really want to
6
??
should I take geometry or alegbra
1 or 2?
You’re gonna have to take both
Thats just sad
Well stuff like calc or trig is literally just both combined
I would suggest algebra 1 then geometry
I think thats how most schools do it anyways
I would prob just do what your friends di
Do
1 ap for freshman year is ok, right?
Select deez nutz
do colleges see which year we took an exam?(freshman/sophomore/junior/senior)
What classes should I take in high school to get into Stanford or Harvard or some other good school? I'm in 7th grade doing 8th grade work and love history.
Quick Question people - I'm taking AP World next year and 2 science classes, Chemistry, and Earth Science. Is that to much of an over load for a sophomore in high school?
Yep
on a scale of 1-10 how bad would it be to take ap chem and ap physics at the same time
i say it looks good @late pier
im taking ap bio rn
if you think ap comp sci is too much you could always go for ap computer science principles as a start
so right now im taking spanish 2 as a freshman and will take spanish 3 next year
should i retake one of the spanish classes or take french 1 in order to satisfy the 3 years of a language recommendation for UCs
or can i just take sp 2+3 and be fine
if you wanna do ap bio and ap compsci then go for it
colleges usually like consistent commitment to one language i think
i would look into spanish 4
my school doesn't have spanish 4
oh yeah then make sure to specify that in the additional comment section of your college apps
you should be fine
you could take french 1 if you wanted to
colleges wont hold it against you that you werent able to fulfill the 3 years language recommendation cause your school wasnt able to offer that
they do have ap spanish tho
my school has a requirement of at least one year of a visual and performing arts class, would it be best to get it over with freshman year if i'm not rlly interested in pursuing arts?
i'm in 8th currently btw and we have to submit our courses for next year
and there's no other elective i'm super interested in so it doesn't really matter
does anyone recommend ap seminar? our course selection was due yesterday and all, but does anyone think its a good course? and what is taught in it?
I suggest you take ap seminar if you are interested in ap research in the future. There is a moderate difficulty level, but it requires quite alot of critical thinking.
I didn't research too much about such courses, but what I typed above is all that I know
ok thanks!
What would you say is the best classes to take in high school if you want to become a doctor/ software engineer?
most likely all the sciences (bio, chem, physics)
ap if you can ofc which can help you get ahead when you get to college
there are also probably electives at your school that relate to engineering that you could take as well
Hi, im a sophomore right now whos locking to pursue computer science in college with the hopes of also running track. My current APs are AP Physics and AP Gov, last year i took AP CSP. I am/have took the tests for all of these classes. In junior year im planning to take 4 aps along with a special tech program for the rest of my peroids. My 11th grade aps are gonna be AP lang, AP calc bc, AP world his and AP compsci. Im planning not to take AP world his test because i want other time to study for my other aps, sats, and programming.
My question is, Is it bad if i dont take the world history test?
mhm
i think thats good
nope
u won't be penalized for ap world test
but I really reocmmend taking it
because u can get rid of elective credit
a bit of it at least
which can help later in college
just a suggestion
wsp guys i was wondering what are some good courses to take as a freshman
I think it depends
coz im on the fence about how many AP's i should take
i enjoy math and science
do you think 2 AP's will be too hard tho?
ap math + science doesnt exist lmao
Honestly I dont know
which AP classes do u take
This year I took Geometry
oh nice
I think im going to do AP math, science, and English next year
that sounds good
ap math + science + english doesnt exist
lmao
are u take biology rn
Physical Science
ohh ok
and i dont think u can do ap calc yr
Ok
hi, what is the recommended AP classes i should take?
It would be living hell
Unless your amazing at math
And already have some physics and chem experience
would you recommend CS course in high school
No
do u have any specific reasons? just curious
Cuz idk what ur interested in
im tryna find that. it's around cs and psychology
coding sorta comes natural, i don't really have to yell at myself for it. but psychology is just rly rly interesting for me.
Looks like u gotta explore
so would u recommend me taking it?
Ur looking to go in a career in cs?
prob
Then i dont see y not
this is all confusing 💀
cool! tysm for ur help
Thats all u need? To ask if u can take cs?
yeah lol not much else
1st. Why r we making ur decisions for u
2. Shouldnt u know what to take since ur the only person that knows what u want to do?
yeah, im just asking for opinions. im going to be the one mostly think abt it, just wanted outside thoughts. should prob ask friends instead
Ur friends arnt gonna know anything lmao
oh alr. I'll think abt it. again, thanks for ur input.
im a 9th grader going into 10th next year, I want to be a computer scientist, any recommendations for higher level courses i should take?
I'm a freshman. I'm only taking 1, which is AP physics C: mechanics
Idk, any recommendations for what i should take next year?
hello if i want to be a pharmacist which courses should i take please ping me
As a freshman???
Would it look bad if I took a break from my world language?
bet bc that's what i'm planning to do...
uhh, kind of... colleges like to see consistency
any reason why?
my schedule over the next four years is disliked by so many lol
they think imma overwork myself
hard to overwork someone that doesn't do work!
The teacher is super bad
So I’m finished my 2nd year of French and I plan on finishing it over the following summer
Yes
*help
I'm just Asian 😂
Can yall help me figure out if I want to do AP dual credit precal or just regular precal
just pick one lmao
But I dont know which one I want
what math r u doing rn
whats ur grade
Im a sophomore now and I wil be a junior next year
what grade do u have in math
and do u enjoy math
Im failing rn but I know the curriculum. My problem is just not turning in my work. Also I dont not like math
then y r u thinking of doing aps?
but ur failing
and community college is open
y do you wanna do smthn ur not interested in?
Bc I dont turn in the work
that doesnt change the fact that u have an d or f
Bc I dont really know what im really interested in and I dont know if I need it or not. I am also wanting to do business so that I can start my own company
figure ur life out
But my life is complicated and knotted. I keep taking 2 steps back and 1 step forward
my life is complicated too, yet i figure stuff out
But im also autistic and adhd and odd and socially awkward
ok? and?
Btw odd is one of my diagnoses
why should these conditions affect the reason on why u cant figure ur life out?
im half deaf too, and i still push forward
Bc I cant do it myself and I cant comfortably talk to anyone about it
yes u can
bro don't be an ass @cinder gorge tf
ur literally being so unsympathetic it's not that hard to have a heart and try to be understanding
if you don't like math you should probably go w a regular math class
smth more advanced is just gonna make you more stressed especially cause you already don't like the subject
No. I have adhd so I cant sit still, I have ODD so I dont listen to what others tell me to do, Im autistic so I don't do what I tell myself to do, and Im socially awkward so I cant talk to others comfortably
Also thx. I am being pushed to do what makes me happy but st the same time there is still pressure to do the more advanced courses
try getting it treated?
With what
adhd, odd, autism
Im on adhd meds. There is not very many treatments for the others but Im open to suggestions
