Noice
yes, how did you know
Pretty obvious the way you talk
oh lol
The smiley face
If you want info on AP
I'm already taking AP classes, but thanks!
Yes, we have a similar thing in our school called CE
Concurrent Enrollment
Oh for us it's 9-12
oh cool
Yep
Hello, I need to chose three specialities for next year, the Spe we will chose we will have two more hours a week on them (so 4 hours/week for each spe). I know I want to take SVT (biology) and SES (economics, sociology, law) but for my third I’m hesitating. The thing is the next year after this one, I drop one of my 3 specialities (and I get more hours of the other two). The average grade of the one I drop will be on my final bulletin and the other two I do for my baccalaureate. The thing is my third one I want to take HGGHP (geopolitics and other stuff) but we are being pushed to take maths because it opens so so many things up. Problem is my average grade in maths rn is 8/20 and maths spe is seriously no joke. I will still do maths at the baccalaureate but not as a spe so it doesn’t count as much (we have most subjects at the Bacc but it’s your specialities that count the most). Anyway if anyone has any suggestions I’m all ears
I'm still in High school. But here's my problem:
What is the best course out of these 3 (Architecture, Computer science and Software engineering) based on popularity, money, math, demand, movability (so you can work at home or during travel) and course acceptance?
I can tell you for a fact that Architecture is not worth the amount of time you put in
Unless you’re a urban settlement designer or for high rise apartments, you’re going to not be paid much
And architecture school is arguably one of the most stressful majors
How about CS and Software engineering though. If it's based in Popularity, math, money, demand, movability and course acceptance. Which of them will be good overall?
CS you can move more and there’s more demand rn, but SO many people are majoring/want to major in it that the job market is about to be flooded
This is a complete lie
“Supporting students from Day One to Exam Day” 😂😂
help i have no idea what i want to do with 70 years of my life
my parents are trying to make me decide between medicine and cs but i love studying everything and i dont want to missout on anything and im not sure i want to spend 4 years in undergrad to find out i dont even like that field. sometimes i wonder if i even want to go to college
Your parents doesn't really decide on what you wanna study on, do what you love to study on.
see but i love so many things
how do i choose ONE
What are you usually more interested in?
What is one course that you love?
Think about it
i like physics a lot
but i love philosophy equally
and history and psychology and math and ecology and cs and biology
do u see my problem
Well, studying physics is more harder than studying philosophy if you wanted to, you can study philosophy
Same with me but I choose Math and Science that I love the most
but i also want to help others, i dont know if those fields will let me do that as much as i want to
History I love too but not really that interested, but I'm into agrticulture
Sorry if I misspelt that
Well, I can't really help you with that, you might wanna ask someone else
I'm a high school student lol
Your not alone bro am high school too
hows ap chem?
Hello everyone! I'm choosing between AP lit and AP lang. Which class would you recommend taking first? fyi, I'm a sophomore
Well, AP literature is more hard than AP Language, so I would say AP Language
Oh?
its dependent on what YOU like
ap lang ret analysis was the hardest essay ive ever written
I'm better at writing than I am at literature
@spare badge Oh you study at MIT?
you'll get a sense for what class looks at what
im in high school rn
i got in
to mIT
so both universites?
yeah
How?
smart
and got in
I wasn't asking about that, I was saying how did they accept you?
SAT Score?
AP Exam?
1560
how many Aps
what wow
No
you're smart 😫
How old are you now?
17
Oh nice
So how are you going to be studying in both universites at the same time? (unless graduating MIT then heading to Oxford)
im not
those r the 2 i got into so far
if i get into any more i might just do away with the names in general
So you applied into every Ivy League schools so far and the results were MIT and Oxford? that's pretty nice, especially when MIT is one of the best universites in the world
Did you have that extracurriculars that led you to getting accepted?
MOP i assume
what is that?
math thing
Yeah
will have to wait till ivy day for results 😔
Good luck! Keep working hard, I'll cheer for you :))
I have all years
I'm 16 lol
Thank you
Yeah thank you
I'm studying very effectively so I can achieve my dreams
and become a electrical engineer 🙂
:D
Thank you guys for the advice! Good luck to both of you!
You too
Seeing people get into Harvard or any good schools makes me wanna push even more
same
Harvard acceptance rate is getting easier to get into
Well I'm not saying It's so easy
oh i thought it was 5%
Yeah I checked it again and it's still 4% 😫
it
lowers
so over time it will only get less
prolly 2%
yep it gets more and more competitive
Question should I take 6 aps next year?
Ap stats, ap chem, ap environmental, ap gov, ap human geo, ap lit
People are telling me not to but im taking 4 this year and its not bad considering they are pretty hard (ap psych, ap bio, apush, ap calc ab)
If you wanna take the harder APs you atleast gotta learn the basics of them before pushing yourself
Stats, Gov, apes, and human geo are light
Ap chem and lit are a pain but I think that’s pretty well balanced
I've already taken the basics for stats, chem, and environmental in the previous years
Honestly I'm not sure about ap lit everyone ik told me not to take it, but some told me it gets easier afterwards
Plus it wont really help me in anyway
Have you taken AP Lang yet?
i decided not to do it this year
Well, in that case you can do AP stats, AP env, and AP chem, and much whatever you're taking
Is biotech science or med
Ofc
Ofc
i mean its not strictly for either
im also going into it
it has branches for multiple fields
it has medical applications and is science based
At my school, it’s considered healthcare but I wanna be a scientist so like should I bother taking it?
Do you want to take it?
Or do you have smth else you’d prefer to take?
And by scientist - what branch of science?
I wanna take it
Physics
Ya I like chem
or is this more career based
Then definitely take it
So like I’m really deciding between engineering and biotech
Since like engineering will help a physics major
But biotech is a lot of research and you’re learning through experiments which seems interesting to take
what grade are you in
9th
damn you have time then
But it doesn’t seem that useful for my major
you should do it if it interests you
Don’t worry about that too much
Are you in physics related classes?
Do you have a free class?
you could switch to engineering after biotech
Are you interested?
Not right now
Take it
I couldn’t take any this year
At my school it’s like pathways; like I have to chose a route
oh
Ig math but not that related
biotech is mostly pharamaceutical and biomed could be a part of it
But for getting into a college; it asks what do I plan on pursing and I say physics while taking biotech
physics is a different field
Doesn’t that seem kinda bad
Okay but later on I can chose to become a medical physicsist
does anyone have experience with ap gov, ap macro, or bc cal? how are those classes like and what are some things you like/hate about them? also sorry if im interrupting😅
Have you taken physics 1, 2, and 3?
Nope but I plan on taking physics 1 and both the physics Cs’
I wanna learn from biotech like it’s all research based at my school atleast
bc calc is honestly ab calc but faster and you need to know the basics of ab, if you've got experiance with calc or decent understanding of calc then its good
Is the ib program good?
What grade are you in?
9th
shouldn't be too bad if you know what you're getting into
and is well prepare for it
thanks! what happened with me was i was in honors precal and the teacher was literally one of the worst teachers ive ever had so i had to drop into regular precal. I am doing much better now but it caused me to have a big gap in my understanding of precal so i was worried if bc would be too much for me. Should i prepare for it over the summer if its too fast?
our bc calc teacher is good at teaching, im just worried about the gap yk
Then don’t worry too much about selecting courses that specifically align with your professional hopes.
The following years are really important for experimenting and researching and experiencing various things
I’d definitely implore you to take the course and try out an alternate pathway
Especially since you’ve never really taken any physics course
honestly precalc was worthless for me, it didn't teach much about the basics of calc and i was lost in the beginning of ab calc. idk about your school tho, in my school the honors version was math analysis. Also you should probably look into the basics of calc, i'd recommend watching 3blue1brown, he came in clutch for me and you should maybe look over it through the summer. Btw can you drop bc calc for ab, cuz that's what everyone did in my school. It would be great to know since, they might just put you in an academic class.
So should I just go with biotech?
thanks! i was originally going for ab but i figured out if i get a 3 on the calc bc exam, i wont have to take math in college anymore. thats why im conflicted because i want to get math over with, but ik bc calc is hard
ab calc is hell for me, im switching to ap stats instead of taking bc. Passing with a solid B+. Also i think ap gov is fun since you compare other goverments.
i like calc bc but that's cuz im a math person
Take that as one of your courses
Take physics as well
yeah ik some folks who have an A+, honeslty i find it interesting tho
AP gov is really easy
yea
but useful
Yeah
For sure
I’m not in AP gov yet but I’m in a similar course where I’m learning everything
Definitely useful for my clubs
Like MUN
nice
im not in MUN but some of my friends are and it sounds fun
ohh okay thanks!
my fav club is either HOSA or science bowl
hello everyone! I completed the course selection for sophomore year. Can you guys let me know if this okay? AP Lang, CE Calculus 3, AP Physics C-Calc Based, AP Government, Spanish 3, (Data Structures and Algorithms), (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning), CE Adobe Photoshop 1, Weight Training, Accounting 1, Intro to Business. -Sorry if this a lot, but it would be helpful if you can give me your opinion, thank you sm!
calculus as a sophomore is insane. honestly this look stacked. Also, nice electives
i sort of like math too but im worried it might stress me out too much. Also my counselors are refusing to drop our courses next year, even if we fail them
oh wow
Thank you sm!
np
if you care, here's my current courseload as a sophomore:
Honors World Lit
AP Chemistry
AP Calculus BC
Orchestra
Honors Spanish 2
AP World History
opinions?
Wow, those are pretty solid classes! AP Chem??
well I try to do my homework during school so I can study the material at home ig
thanks! I took honors chem last year and so AP Chem isn't too bad this year
Wow, good for you. AP chem at my school is one of the most hardest classes to pass
by doing this, I don't have to cram for exams
I’ve not yet taken HOSA
I am aiming to do so next year
yeah, same. the people who are in my class are top tier. there are a lot of seniors and juniors in my class
yeah it's really fun
ap calc? the earliest we can take that is junior year
it feels professional
I basically crammed alg 1, geo, and alg 2 + trig into 8th grade so I could take honors precal last year. I took alg 2 through an acredited program so my school allowed it.
what the-
i had to take a math placement test and got honors precal

Same.I switched schools and took a diagnostic test.
it was covid so I had extra time
honestly im very proud of you man, keep up the good work!
thanks 😄
But sometimes I feel left out because there's a bunch of juniors and seniors :((
most of my friends are sophomores or seniors and for me its fun to see my senior friends get their college decisions
Wow-
one of my friends got into Yale 😄
wow
Ur literally an entire year ahead
So biotech is like a pathway it’s 2 classes and you take in sophomore year and another in junior year with a research internship in senior year. I will take physics 1 and physics c mechanics in junior year and physics c electricity and magnetism in senior year.
but he's like, extremely smart.
ye 🙂
Im trying to make next year as easy as possible
are you planning on graduating early?
What other classes would you recommend for a physics major?
I heard that junior year is extremely stressful
So ap stats junior year, no math senior year?
no
Lucky
differential equations and multivariable calculus senior year
Wth is that-
otherwise known as diff eq and multi
I’ve never heard of that before
Same but in my school it's called Calc 3
yeah it's pretty hard
that's why I'm pushing it off to senior year instead of next year. most of my friends are taking diff eq and multi next year but I'm taking ap stats
I want to focus on extracurriculars next year
if theres one thing I should tell yall is that yall should do research. whatever subject you are interested in, do research in that subject. look up project ideas online and explore. the experience of discoverying something new and presenting it at science fairs is really fun and rewarding
not to say it isn't time consuming but it's rewarding
I'm currently doing a research project on the Riemann Hypothesis
oooh nice. I'm familar with riemann sums but not the riemann hypothesis
Yeah same. I know what the riemann sum is. Apparently, no one has been able to solve the riemann hypothesis
I just read that it's an unsolved puzzle with a one million dollar prize for the solver!
yes!
are you trying to solve it or just research how it works?
Me? Solve it? Must be a joke. Obv. how it works.
yeah thats what I was thinking but you never know
yeah.
Are you majoring in math?
nope, i hope to be a PhD MD
my research is on cancer cells and trying to find a relationship between different chemicals and the survival of cancer cells
Woww! Nice, best of luck!
I'm working with a local university, of course
No, unfortunately. I want to but my school doesn't offer the test. I don't know how else to take it :(( You?
yeah I took it. I didn't study for it and didn't advance but I think I did well. I will ask my teacher for my score tomorrow at school
only two people in my school advanced to the AIME
Oh good luck. You will obv make it, you do calculus afterall.
yeah but the test was more about number theory and like patterns.
Oh heck no.
also, a lot of geometry formulas
yea, not my specialty either
I find calculus easier than that 💀
Well, I'm only a freshmen. But, I'm thinking UCLA, MIT? I'm honestly not there yet
what aps should i take sophomore to senior
(im freshman next year)
oh, nice. its good to set your goals high
well it depends on what courses your school offers and your interests
i dont rly have interest in subjects and im taking math analysis sophomore year on my plan
oh, I see
i just nee deasy aps
well, then just take the hardest classes offered
ok ty
ap environmental science is easy too (i'll probably take it next year)
ok tyy
yup np
how though? it's so hard to actually get started lol
yupp
ok should i take ap lit next yr or just do duall enrollment english 12 (english 1020) so i have more space in my schedul next year. The classes are weighted differently but i think it might be worth it to just get it over with over the summer. Im in ap lang rn also ap lit is weighted similar to lang
If you're entering senior year, then I'd definitely advise you to consider DE. It provides a more well-faceted display to colleges and would also lighten your load in senior year with regards to the large number of colleges applications/scholarship applications you would be expected to complete.
However, if you are in the running for valedictorian or salutatorian, I'd advice you to consider taking the AP course.
alrd ty
should i take ap physics c in my senior year if i’m majoring in computer engineering or is it not worth it for college
ive heard the class is really hard and not sure if it helps me besides knowledge
are there any resources or classes that i could take in middle school to learn about psychology and mental health and how people get help when facing mental health issues
Most middle schools don't hav those yet(I think) but u can search some stuff online from yt and read some books abt it, ask ppl for book recommendations,
Replying to @graceful tide👆
thanks
But I think there are some majors abt psychology in college so for now just books, YouTube n maybe find some ppl studying psychology for some info abt it
Np:)
should i consider a dual program in hs
Idk what that is, sorry😅
lol
but what should i start with if i want to learn more about psychology/neurology/ mental health
U can start with biology ig, it's somewhat related, but yea basically books that r related to psychology, idk much but u can ask for book recommendations by others
That's just my advice, might not be the best but hope it helps hh
In thinking of majoring in hospitality in college, is it worth taking AP classes like AP Bio and Human Geography? ny grades are bad bc im dumb asf so should i continue taking them?
Can someone advice me please what should I choose
Computer Or Physical Education
I want to go with non medical
So is there any need of physical
not really
you could be better doing extracurriculars or something
I fill my free block with a tutoring grade 8 class block
im a sophomore taking apchem and apbio right now; i was wondering if i should take apphysics for junior year or wait until senior year to take it to level out junior year
are you tryna be a doctor
im thinking of doing med or engineering, deciding whether i like chem and bio more or physics
I'd take physics in grade 11
if you're tryna be a doctor or engineering
dropping chem is gonna be a dumb move though
I really can't decide what course to choose for college 😢
Currently i have taken a year drop after school and joined a coaching institute for engineering entrance exam... But as i stduy in depth i find than I'm not really interested in engineering, this year i need to get enrolled in college
... I'm good in maths but physics and chemistry don't attract me much 🤔
... I'm pretty curious about psychology but i have never studied it and am unsure about job scopes and which psychology to choose
Can anyone pls help me🥺
Decide a college that best fits your location and your interest.
Location is not a problem, but finding interest is 🤔
Well try applying to all colleges around your area, you may want to pick colleges with medium acceptance rate so you can get in.
No i need help choosing the course... Not college
did you have any credits from high school?
You first need to get out of the way your General Education and Major Declaration requirements
good rule of thumb is 15 units a semester
We only have scout and sports credits in out region... I didn't have any in either, but most colleges accept students based on entrance exams only (some national or state level and some conduct personal ones)
Well tbh addmission in our side is mostly based on categories (mostly preferable to castes who were neglected in history)
But i don't have a problem getting a college as i did pretty good in 12th school boards.
But i need some career advice about which course to choose in college... My interest is in maths and psychology, but i was hoping if anyone is familiar with job scopes for them...
What classes should I take for meteorology in high school
@wise forge MX what would you suggest me to pick for my rising sophomore year ? Im forced to take English math' pe again?', chemistry and world history and I'm left with 1 open spot what should I pick ? Im tryna get into Stanford and into business but in my sophomore year and how the schools system works , I don't have a language class if I'm tryna go for business
Should I go with the business classes or should I continue with language
what grade are you
Anyway I'm not familiar with psych and math at all 💀
colleges require at least two years of a language, but three is standard for stanford. if possible, take a language class online at your local college; it’s way easier.
Hm I see , but what electives or classes should I take for Stanford ? Like 3 courses of like accountants or intro to business etc ?
What state are you in?
California
FYI I'll have 2 open classes for junior years and senior years , and they allow a 7th period if I have a special req, but also means more work
I'm in high school so take my opinion with a grain of salt but considering what you have mentioned, some possible professions could be cognitive sciences or even a field in which you work with statistics regarding psychology. In terms of majors, I am quite uneducated so you could research majors that relate to the professions listed above or similar tracks.
I noticed you mentioned that you do not have experience with psych so my response may be obsolete as you do not have a basis to compare.
perfect; does your school offer cte in business?
or district?
recommend taking a 7th period
I’ve taken an 8th period every year so far
i take a 7th as well
I also take 2 classes online
Wdym by this ?
Career Technical Education classes
those are a thing in CA
Also, since you are in California, I very much recommend that you take Spanish 1 and 2 at a Community College, that’s equal to 3 years of hs english in one year
Do they have any for business?
yea like 5
I'm thinking of changing my language to Viet bc I have straight A's and my Spanish is a c
I'm a Viet speaker
Ok
hm
Im forced to take 2 years of pe , 1 in fresh other in soph
we’re forced to take 4 years 💀
at my school
GODMANNN
yea lmao
How should I work my sophomore hears
Years
I have eng math chem history pe, filled and 1 spot left should I just go with a language class or should I take the language class somewhere online like you suggested
sorry to interrupt but WOW THATS A LOT 😭
And fill it with a business class that they offer
i’d recomendable online, let’s you take another class at school
They offer a extra period, should I do that for my language class ?
I just need to make a spc request
lol
What classes should I take for meteorology in high school or what classes do you recommend to take for junior year
so college level language counts for more
which is why i suggested it
Ayo guys, anyone got any good academic resume templates I can use?
just get ur school's transcript
does anyone know if taking AP classes are worth it if ur hospitality major? or if there are any clubs/ electives i should take?
@dim shadow @silent escarp Hello there Gohar, I love watching your videos, they really get me motivated. I am currently 13, I have a special magnet high school program I need to get into next year. I have read the requirements for it, it says "This program is designed to offer accelerated instruction in the areas of math, science, and computer science for highly motivated and able students." That's just one part of it, and there much more to it as well, such as an essay on why you want to get in, and why they should pick you. I know you do make videos on this type of subjects, but thats for college this one's for high school. If you want you can take a look at this doc for more info. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-a2AyU4kX9rYWOoI3ZCO5njLPPuxBvPKjTAp8qgwa14/edit?pli=1. The correct one is the science, math and computer science at Poolesville HS. Once again if you could help me out with this on how to stand out on my application that would be awesome. I am not expecting you to look at this but if you do that would a killer win for me. If you respond just dm it to me. Thank you.
Please don't ping Gohar; Others will be happy to help though.
Yes; they get some gen end out of the way.
Okay, thank you ^-^
My school has a credit system where 1 full year of art and 1 full year of PE is required. I really want to take more AP classes, but because of this system, I'm not able to do so. Is there a way for me to take AP classes outside of school or somewhere else?
depending on where you live, you could do virtual school? although i will admit it is a lot harder doing AP online
Honestly, I don't know if there are any virtual schools in my area.
even so, i would say its best to not. Its my personal opinion however. If you want to check, you can, and you can also speak with a guidance counselor.
hey, couldn't you take the art & pe online?
How would I do that?
i had health and pe grad requirements, and I got em done over summer
i also accelerated math with it
If they are saying that their school/area does not offer online courses then that wouldn't work
yes, but usually there are state virtual schools that ppl could use
and they seemed a lil unsure so-
Hmm I could check with my counselor
Thank you guys!
yeah that would help
of course, anytime
wc 🙂
Sorry my bad, I just joined.
its apart of your academic resumé
Yeah transcript is part of the resume but it isnt a resume
This is a resume but a transcript isnt a resume
Should I choose Computer science or Business for elective?
Im intrested in both, I learned coding (Java), but I also want to learn something different and how the market works, etc
Im confused, most of collegues are pciking Business but Im not too sure
my friend is asking if he should take ap world history in his freshmen year
What curiculum do you follow? What state?
he lives in nc
North Carolina..
yes.
What grade?
Hmm. Based on prior info/data and what I know regarding this topic. Its definetly worth it unless you have done badly in regular history or honors history. The exam in Nc, passing this exam might save thousands in college tuition, so really something to think about. But most people who take this course pay for the AP test and dont pass, around 60.2 - 67.4 % based on USA state NC school data. Depending on if you get a passing score, and get the college credit, its worth. Another factor is how much time you have in your day to day life. If you focus on extra curricular activities, this is something you might want to think about. Thanks for asking! Hope this helps!
9th
@granite wharf
Does this freshman schedule look good?
Honor bio
Honors geometry
Honors English one
PE
N/A
Italian 1
Concert choir (potentially select choir)
Honors world history?
Lunch
I plan to go into physics
Do you have to do normal world history to do AP world history?
what's your state curriculum?
I can look up the New Jersey state curriculum
I can't find anything about having to do a normal class to do an AP class
I'm just finding the normal requirements
Give me a second. I will get back to ASAP
Thank you so much
usually it's if you have an A or A+, you're recommended to Honors World History, but then you have a choice for AP world history
idk about new jersey tho
I mean I got an a+ first marking period and an a- second marking period and I got in the 95th percentile of the map on Ela
So as long as I get A's the second semester I'm good?
Wow..those r some good grades lmao
I have straight A's right now
@fringe barn In order to get into AP world history:
90% or better in Honors American Government or Honors US History or Honors Global Studies courses and 93% or better in Academic English classes, or an 85% or better in Honors English is enough. Depending on ur choice in what course your going to pick.
Lowest grade is in algebra at a 92
And to do AP world history you have to be in > 10th grade
I mean I'm going into freshman year next year so can you just not do a AP classes in freshman year?
Cuz I plan to do AP US History in 10th grade
How old are you?
14
Perfect, but your schedule looks very busy. lots of honors classes and in the future becoming AP classes.
You might want to think about extracurriculars/volunteering
Wow, Great! Congratulations
Still don't know what to do for my free spot. My school does not offer study halls and in terms of extracurriculars I volunteer at the library and do community cleanups and I'm very passionate about musical theater and have been doing it my entire life
I'm also joining debate club next year
Your HAP??
And see if they have some science club
That should cover me in terms of extra curriculas along with amping up my volunteer hours
Wow! Your very involved. As you said before, ur thinking to take physics in the future. What high school year you thinking to take that course?
Probably sophomore year
I've actually been so studying with a good friend of mine who's a senior who got the highest score out of anyone in his class to see if I could potentially take it at the end of freshman via self study
Yea, you need 80 hr's of volunteering to graduate in NJ
I'm already almost 1/3 done with my AP physics work
So that I could potentially go into AP physics 2 sophomore year
Good choice, its going to be difficult. Im geussing your in 8th grade, and your taking Algebra which is an advanced cource. You should definetly consider the Geo summer course if thats an option for you/financial circumstances.
What's the geo summar course?
I do know the local college around me does summer camps for high schoolers
what about nc?
Im the summer of 8th grade and 9th grade, your allowed to do the Geometry summer course only if you have a 93% or higher. But the summer course is $1000 USD so thats something to keep in mind.
And I'm in this thing called this STEM academy where in junior year I get to take classes directly at the college and I get to take engineering classes sophomore year but freshman year they just offer a coding class but I've already done coding for 2 years so I got exempt from that class
I'm firmly in the middle class so I can probably do that
As a High school graduation requirement, each student must complete a minimum of forty hours of community service (Volunterring).
ok thanks
Does volunteering hour vary by school or is it a must according to the state cuz I live in nj but my high school doesn’t mention anything about volunteering being necessary
Wow, thats amazing. It good that your particapating in different opertunities given in your school board. For coding, your school will most likley give you a test to put you in your appropriate level. Plus, in NJ, you have the first month to drop out of a course if its to easy or difficult.
Any time 🙂
Perfect
I literally helped organize my teacher a lesson for coding and it was at that point they just said I could opt out of it like my friend did who also did coding classes on their own
Can you do AP computer science principles in freshman year? Because if that's the case that would be an amazing option
I think its based on your school district. For example, in south brunswick district, volunteering is required. What school district do you go to, maybe I can look into that and get back to you.
damn modi giving college advice
Wow, impressive. Very nice.
It’s not a district..a regional high school sooo maybe not
Hmm. What district does your school clasify in?
Oh, if thats the case then its most likely different for each regional high school. Im not to sure about that.
Because I'm going to be honest I don't feel comfortable giving my exact School district to people on the internet even though you seem nice
Yea, county is fine
It's a spelled weirdly so let me go double check to make sure I spell it correctly
Thats fine, I think county would be fine
If you want, you could DM me the county if u dont wanna publicly share it
Yea, true. Let me look into that
All right thanks man
For Computer Programming (with AP Computer Science A option):
Requires successful completion of Computer Applications, Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra
2 with a grade of "B" or better.
And the earliest you could take AP Comptuer Science is if you do the Geometry summer course, and get a "b" or better and then do algebra 2, then get b or better
Are you thinking to take Computer Applications? @fringe barn
I was thinking of AP computer science principles
Is it the same thing?
I mean I could use the free spot to double up on math and because that is a thing my school district does and it lets me take both geometry and algebra 2 at the same time
And then see if I could potentially skip precalculus because it's optional and then go straight to AP calculus in sophomore year
Yes, your correct. As I done some research, your county provides many different options for your academic carrer which is great
That's convenient
Wow, thats a very nice choice. Unfortunately, my school dosen't provide double up courses. But thats perfect, but you might want to double check on that idea
I will check in about that
It also very nice of the college board recently made pre-calculus optional
But just to make sure you don't need to take an AP class to take the AP test right?
Yea, thats great.
Yes, you dont need to take the full course. However, it is helpful to do so because its a paid test and if you dont do well, it stays on your transcript.
Because I've been using Khan academy the Princeton review a good friend of mine who got a 5 on the AP test and my dad who is also a mathematician to self study AP physics 1 and I've got them pretty good at it and I'm tempted to take it at the end of next year
Because I started last week and I've been doing it Non-Stop and I'm almost a 1/3 done so I think it's reasonable I could do it at the end of freshman
U think it's a good idea?
Wow, your in 8th grade and your very involved, your very smart academically and financially I believe.
My mom works in economics
Very nice
My dad's a math professor
Yea, but its a difficult test, and might require lots of hard work and dedication.
I mean I'm currently done with kinematics and Newton's laws
Which is two out of the seven
And I started a week ago
So I definitely think I could do it and it would also look really good on applications
All right thanks helping me set up the plan you're the best@swift dune
Nice, Newtons laws are complicated in high school because you have to study for climactic studies and financial growth based on newtons laws on graphs, NOT just physics.
Yup
I also might minor in econ so nice
Anytime! Hope that helps, I have to go now. Bye, feel free to ask more questions in the future. DM me if u want
Bye see you later man
What is the value of minors?
Anybody got good recommendations on what to take for my freshman year? I can give you my strengths and weaknesses.
Also do you have a higher chance of getting into a specific college if ur major isn’t too popular at that college?
Freshman year? I don't know about your school, but I'd suggest taking courses like HGAP to get yourself on colleges radar early, but it all depends on your interests and goals in education
Trying to major in music currently
Instrument, voice, or theory/composition?
Trumpet
You might consider taking a bit easier of classes freshman year as not to overwhelm yourself (like I did) and focus on the things you want to pursue
Be careful not to burn yourself out though, and remember that colleges prefer well-rounded students (if that is your focus)
I can take world geo in the summer.
Yea that might work too
Does your school offer other electives you might be interested in?
Right now I only want to do band, intro to computer science, and Chinese I.
I am in 9th grade, in my school you can take a extracourse for math but drop history. I either take AP stats(regular stats is not a option) or I take computer science(using java edition). this is for 10th grade
Do you think you are prepared/able to take a course as strenuous as AP stats in 10th grade?
or do you desired to take cs/go into the CS field??
It is computer programming. i don't want to take an ap class but enjoy stats a lot, I like computer programming but I mainly code in HTML
Hmmm.... AP stats is typically a hard AP course so if you're straying away from AP, I'd definitely advice you to consider Java coding in CS.
Even if it's not your main interest, it can definitely serve to be very useful and helpful and maybe you can learn something new.
Would it be better to do a course to do a bachelors+masters 5 year course or just do them separate
Who likes AP government and politics
I may take it junior year next year
Who likes CCP English composition physics and honors environmental science may take that next year junior year of high school
um i didn't like it but i also took it as a freshman so it was kind of hard
@cinder gorge
Also would y'all recommend AP classes over dual enroll or visa versa
Sorry, I didn't see this soon but ty 😅😅😅
Hey, I just want to know, is full aps senior year too stressful?
I have some aps before that but looking at my course rn I have mostly aps junior and senior year
Im in 8th rn so im choosing my courses for freshman year
it wasn't tooo stressful for me
I think it's definitely something you are going to have to get used to but I take all aps this year and i am successfully having an A in all of them
but you are going to have to balance them so like maybe don't take AP Physics I and AP Chem and AP Lang and GT Math and AP World History
like take one or two easy ones and then the others can be mid-high difficulty
@sullen steppe
but don't plan your entire life as an 8th grader cause as you go to high school you're going to find things out
like that this course is a prerequisite to this course, and you don't have to take this course to graduate
I'm in freshmen year, 4 honors classes (all that are offered), next year I plan on doing 2 ap classes (AP world and the capstone program). Due to taking these 2classes I'm considering not doing honors for 2 of my classes next year (algebra 2 and chem) I'm much more of a humanities person than stem, but I'm already taking honors math and science (geometry and biology) this year. I'm doing rlly well in biology but got a B+ in math last semester while for my other classes I get straight As. Should I do those honors classes?
If I’m learning Latin recreationally would it be useful to take the AP Latin exam?
I’d say do Honors Chem but if Geometry isn’t going well then maybe play it safe with Algebra 2
Biology comes first then chemistry
Should I take ap bio before ap Chem or ap Chem before ap bio or does it even matter
Ap chem first because chemistry is in bio
That depends
What year r u
I’m in 9th and I took bio honors so I was just wondering if I should take ap bio and Chem honors next year so I can take ap Chem in 11th grade.
Do bio then chem
does anybody recommend doubleblockin biology and pre ap chem in freshmen year?
Look as a ninth grader “freshmen” I picked both and I find them really interesting to study and learn abt although u will be facing lots of challenges and u will have to study a lot because it needs effort if ofc u want to pass the year with good grades but they are pretty interesting
?
My colleg counselor told me that they recently found out that people who finish capstone before senior year do better/better admissions and stuff but is there any truth to that
some colleges do only consider up to senior, so potentially
UCs look at sophomore and junior years
ohh interesting, ty
ib vs ap?
I just chose my courses for next year (11th grade). I did Trigonometry and Finite. Ap bio and honors chem. Apush. Linguistics. Spanish 5. And study hall. I’m thinking about dropped spanish bc I don’t want too much homework. Is that a good idea and are these classes manageable?
My school has handed out course cards for the next year. I'm currently a freshman and would like to ask about something. Should I take AP US Government/Economics Honors (Each for one semester) or AICE (British AP) International History (World History Credit)?
Usually Bio then Chem
But you should make the choice yourself based on your strengths
💀
Hey everyone! I'm thinking of taking AP Lang, AP Physics C, and AP Gov. I have space for one more AP, what AP do you think I should take?
It depends on what your transcript is missing
Hey, there are no AP classes and exams in my school.. What should i do?
What grade are you in?
somewhat
I'm selecting courses for 10th grade, but I'm currently in 9th
what ap courses does your school offer?
All of them
an easy ap to do would be APCS either A or P, their both easy. For an interesting class, AP Art History. It’ll help prepare you for further ap historíes as well.
Well this year, I'm taking AP CSA and AP Calc BC.
yeah skipped a few math classes
Take AP stats
Well I'm going to be taking CE Calc 3. Will taking AP Stats be a pain or will it be manageable?
CE?
College enrollment
Ah, wait calc 3 is only 1 semester tho
do it at a college if they don’t
I just checked they have CE Linear Algebra and CE Differential Equations
they seperste them????
that’s annoying
My college combines them into a semester class
I don’t think AP Stats will be too hard because you are very intelligent.
I’d suggest maybe AP Psych, but that’s just a lot of work, while stats, to my knowledge, isn’t that much.
AP Psych is a lot of work? At my school, it's deemed to be one of the easiest APs?
Sorry to interrupt; Does anyone have advice on this?
Thank you for your help!! :)) ❤️
then take it 🤷♂️ I took Psych at college and it was easy, idk much about the AP though
hmm I'll think about it. I want to go into the computer science/mathematics field, I think AP Stats will be beneficial for me
yeah
I need help one what english class to take
dk if I want to do standard in highschool or advanced but not ap
There are some free online AP courses
But overall don't worry about your admissions chances
If your school doesnt offer AP classes you won't be punished for not taking any
Oh, damn i didnt know this
thanks alot
Yeah they'll always consider your high school context. Just make sure to take the most rigorous course load offered to you
It's a joke but the amount of work is mostly just decided by your teacher
So some may give out a lot of work
Well, in my school we have 4 diff options, Arts, commerce, science with mathematics and science with biology
And 2 extra topics we have r physical education and comp science
I took science with mathematics and comp science, will that help? @hollow finch
Yes
should prob ask this: is college General Chemistry easy enough to take during a summer session?
doubt anyone would know but maybe
Ez
mk
Chem 101 is ez
Should I take AP Government/Economics next year (10th grade next year) or AICE International History?
I think an AP history course might very a good option but I reccomend talking to your guidance counselor or a adult that ur comfortable with
I'm looking at colleges right now
I’m taking IB in high school, they let you take some AP classes if you want, do you think taking AP bio or AP earth and env is better?
Ma school don't even know what AP is 💀💀
Anyway nevermind my school is forcing me to take international
what is the exact math like “path” for high school? I skipped a grade for math so idk what I’m gonna do
I i choose marine biologist is it a good dream
I have a question guys that is it wise to take 4 college courses in hs summer which are: tech and ethics
Intro to cs
Intro to psychology
Eng com 1
I see no reason why not to take them, but I wouldn't take them just for the sake of them being college courses.
Can you implement them into your future/dream job? And if so take them. Not saying you shouldn't, just do what you think will be best to achieve your goals you have set.
Try to take as many concurrent enrollment courses as you can as not only do they give you college credits they are also way cheaper most of the time.
I see no reason not to take them though if you're interested in them.
Ok question
So my school offers a course called SRM, scientific research method. Basically a class where you go to the local health and science university and get paired up with a mentor and carry out research with them, and make a presentation at the end and display it to the whole school. I really want to go into science, so this is like perfect for me
But, I would have to drop my language (Latin) to take it. I already have 3 years of latin, but i know most colleges like 4.
So I'm kinda torn on what to do. Should I take srm or latin?
yeah cuz they're intro
tho I don't think english would be requires
required
It is required to complete my associate
for my sophomore year should i replace adv chem with ap bio since i want to go into med school? These are the courses im taking next year:
Health Science YR
English 2 Adv YR
Choir 2 Master
Pre Calculus Adv YR
Chemistry Adv YR
AP World History YR
AP Psychology with SS Research
AP Seminar YR
wait ap chem isnt on ur list
omg thats rlly creepy our scedules are the exact same except i do art not choir
lol
im a sophmore this yr lmao
um colleges like to see that u do all three sciences
did u do bio last yr?
well ig this year
yea colleges like if u do all the sciences
so do chem this yr
and do physics next yr
u can double block sciences if u rlly want too but its not that important
im doing ap bio senior yr
Im probably not gonne be in highschool for 11 and 12 grade
there is this program i wanna join
called tams
wtf
so i can get collage credits during those years
do u go to my school wtf
what school u go to
lol
istg u probably go to my school 😭
anywayss
idk then cus tams is like weird
my friend quit after the first semester
so idk much abt it sorryyy
my sister is in it
ohh thats cool
im just gonna do hosa
yea npp
hosa is silly cus our teacher actually sucks
yea samee! i did psych for mine
cpr first aid
i gtg, cya
yea cya
should I take AP Bio or AP Physics 1 and 2
Next year should I take honors chemistry or honors bio, chemistry is harder than bio but I get AP bio the year after as a requirement
have you had a bio class before?
Depends, 1 is mechanical and 2 is electrical. 2 basically does things that 1 gets left off on. If you're more interested in gravity, motion, roller coasters, do 1. If you're more interested in circuits, electromagnetic fields, take 2.
at my school Physics 1 and 2 are combined with 1 being first semester and 2 being second semester
no but they allow me to take chemistry honors before i take bio, only because im taking both algebra 2 and geometry next year.
oh. Well, bio or physics depends on interest
normally people would take bio 10th grade at my school
do you want to take physics c in the future? Then take 1 and 2
Then you might want to take bio. AP bio is not very fun without a prior biology class
U guys think if I end with a 3.9-4.0 ish GPA weighted cumulative is good for colleges
This is my goal end of 2nd semester 10th grade
i mean ofc that’s a average of As
no if its weighted its not
Good AP classes for freshman year
Now my school does not offer AP human geography
Is AP psychology good?
Should I take pre calc in 9th
Is this a good schedule for Junior year? Should I change anything?
Honors Pre-Calc
AP Lang
AP Chem
Choir (honors IF i get into the advanced one which is audition only)
AP Music Theory
APUSH
Vocal conservatory? (audition only, after school)
Model UN (0 period)
computer science is probably a good one
Which of these 2 courses should I pick?
Software engineering or Computer science (based in Money, popularity, demand, math, and ability to work from home or during travel)
Has anyone taken world geo and is it an easy class to take over the summer?
if you have time, then it would be a good fun thing to do, if not then you should focus on your other subjects
ツ np
Just got into an academy program dont know how what type of classes are available. All I know is im on an accelerated track and will be taking into to business one semester and I believe Business Law the other semester but I dont know what other electives to take. Im also in all honors so I want to do something more laid back and fun. Any suggestions?
I’m choosing my classes for next year and I’m planning to take Spanish 3 next year as a sophomore. If next year was my last year of Spanish, would colleges consider that two years, since I only took foreign language for two years in high school, or would it be three years since I took the high school course in middle school?
3
I'm choosing my subjects for my O' levels in the next month, and I'm planning on a engineering-based career so I'm picking Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Additional Maths and either Economics or Computer Science, but I'm not sure which. Can some help me decide which can be more beneficial for me?
same
computer science
definitely
What if I want to become a ethical hacker or go@in cyber security
You know ethical hacker are technically hacking for security of country where they hack and help company make their security better
How hard is ap comp sci p?
cs principles and human geo are relatively freshman-friendly courses
other “easy” aps are psych (lots of memorization though), apes, and stats
wouldn’t take more than two freshman year though
Hey guys, I’m a sophomore and and trying to figure out my course load for next year. I’m probably going to go down the medicine route, so my counselor told me to take genetics for junior year, but I was planning on taking AP Stats instead for the GPA boost. I’m at a 4.2 GPA, right now, so I want to get that up in my junior year before college apps. So which one should I take, genetics or AP Stats?
depends on where you want to go, if you are confident in writing college essays and want to go to a UC, then Genetics might benefit you more, however, most colleges look at GPA more than course work/ relevance/
I’m thinking UIUC right now, also Northwestern but that’ll be a stretch
Upcoming Freshman here, is this a good schedule for me?
Advanced English 9
Algebra I
Advanced Biology
Advanced World History/Geography to 1500
HPE I
Concert Choir
Advanced Spanish II
yes
also hello fellow choir kid
hello
couldn't do it in 8th grade because of my school making me choose between Music and Electives
Lower register voices are always wanted in a choir.
thats annoying
honestly this is my final year of woodshop and the gifted program
so
had to choose electives
lmao
we once upon atime did offer woodshop, but then the teacher lost a finger
ah the fun times
oh and before you ask since I guess it's protocol with middle school kids, i'm 14
nah just for 6th and 7th graders
lmao
aight
if you're planning your 9th grade schedule its fair to assume you're allowed here
yeah
When I was in middle school i was planning and put my self as taking the hardest classes... and it ended up being accurate and i was like 😮
can't wait for my high school career to start
I thought Honors Advanced Band was a fake class when I did it too; nope
yes you can
please
wait
lol
high school is fun in reality
my schedule is just
Pre-Algebra
(Electives)
HPE
Science
Spanish I
Civics
ELA
really easy
would have gotten into Algebra I if I hadn't have been Virtual in 7th grade
ah
In 7th grade... I failed elementary school... but I decided to take school seriously and within the first week I had a 200% in math
200??
by the end of the month I was given an opportunity to share a desk with a kid in the advanced class
yeah-
she offered extra credit and then the person to do it first got more and i just did it everyday since we weren't allowed to do anything else
lmao
my teacher gets mad at me for doing the math instead of plugging it into a calculator like everyone else
I am legit too advanced for my class
it's the second semester so it's too late for a class change now
8th grade was
PE
Honors English
Honors US History
Tenor & Bass Choir
Advanced Math 8
Percussion i
Advanced Percussion i
General Science 8
the percussion i class was a lunch course
we normally had a 6 course schedule but i got 8 lmao
that was virtual year tho
SOL?
ah
Schools here don't have to offer honors and don't get paid more for it, but they are allowed to
so my school chose too
we're just told to offer AP and IB classes in high school I think
it gets geometry and alg 1 out of the way so i could start in Honors Math 2 or Honors Alg 2 depending on the system
Since when did schools have Honors History my school district only has Math and English everything else is AP (spoiler there is no AP History).
that was middle school, my high school doesn’t have honors us
Not even my middle school has Honors History.
ah
Which is not the greatest because usually in History I am bored because it is easy.
What APs should a junior take?
What do you plan to do after school?
AP Gov
AP Macroeconomics
Math 4 Honors
Math 5 Honors
AP Statistics
Advanced bio
Chem
Classical mythology
Creative writing
Lifes issues
With this schedule in mind, should I drop classical myth and creative for AP Lit (I’m not the best at english aswell)
Hey I’m going into my junior year and I was debating whether to do AP chem vs AP Physics 1, not too sure which one would be easier?
they r different
one isnt necessarily harder than the other
what math are u gonna take junior year?
Ap Calc BC
I’ve already taken chem h freshman year
APP1 is more conceptual and math based; there is very very little content, but it extremely in depth
AP Chem will be more memorization and comprehension based, more breadth and less depth
whichever you prefer
Do you know the difference between AP Physics C and AP Physics 1
yeah, APPC is calculus based while APP1 is algebra based
APPC will test your mathematical abilites and problem solving skills more, whilie APP1 is more focused on your argumentation skiils, reasoning, and conceptual understanding
i generally say that APPC is harder, just because the problems tend to be a bit more complex, but some find it easier
.
And is there a difference between AP physics 1 and AP physics 2?
yeah, APPhysics 1 covers mechanics, while 2 covers electricity, magnetism, optics, thermodynamics, fluids, and quantum physics
1 tends to be harder
2 covers more content but is not nearly as in depth
im honestly not a big fan of APP2, i think your best bet is either APP1 or APPC
Ahh kk I think I’ll do APP1 and then do C for senior year after I finish AP Calc BC
ok! good plan
there are 2 C classes
theres APPC: Mechanics and APPC: Electricity and Magnetism
does your school cover both in one year?
Yup our school covers both
ok yeah APP1 first is a good idea
Is 4 AP junior yr okay?
APPC: Mech and APP1 cover almost identical content, but the math is a bit different
Kk thx!
This for junior year? Cause AP Lang is better for juniors
Thats Junior yr
And alrighty, would it necessarily be bad to take lit junior yr?
Hmm I’m not to sure but I strongly recommend taking Lang if ur not good at English. It’s a pretty easy class
I heard Lang at my school is hell,
The teacher isn’t good and we write like full essays every day and have 40 mins each time
Yup AP lang focuses on writing essays in a short period of time
But the test is way easier then Lit
W
It all depends on content
I can write essays pretty fast, it’s just analyzing the text honestly and getting the information
Hmmm I think you can learn it pretty quick, ik aton of people hate Shakespeare but if you can practice quote analysis for like a month on that and you should be fine
Macbeth is a good book to analyze quotes
Alrighty, I’ll take that in, thanks (:
is ap stats worth if i didnt do many difficult math courses
is robotics mostly computer science or more physics and mechanics
we do have sols in va
well depends what county
For Junior Year:
AP Calc BC
AP Chem
APLAC
APUSH
AP CSA
Spanish 3
Is this too much or is it fine?
lmao
that's fine
what is aplac
AP lang
yeah Ap lang
Is anyone here familiar with the IB system?
Based in your experiences or opinions, Should I pick Computer Science or Software engineering?
Ok….uh….i know that I’m new and all….but- I just have to drop a class next year. Either ASL, Spanish, or lunch. Help??
youre allowed to drop lunch??
Mhm
Huh? What did I do wrong?
nothing
nothing i just think its strange that you are allowed to drop lunch
i would say drop asl unless you're going into a major where u would need it or have a relative who u need to communicate with using asl
we are too
so when do you guys eat
class
When you drop lunch, your teachers are basically forced to let you eat in class
or passing period
do yall not get a break to socialize and stuff?
Not when you drop lunch
class
before/after school
clubs
Yes
plenty of time
does ur school offer zero hour?
No, because if it did I would know what that is
basicaly you take pe early in the day so you have an extra period during ur school day and can still do lunch
oh ok
and yet u still don't have space?
in your schedule?
how many classes are you allowed to take a year
Only 7 per semester, 2 electives (3 if you don’t take humanities). I went with the 3 and next year I have to take AP world. PBS, ASL, and Spanish were my electives
