💀💀💀
Yea and it’ll look better on my application if I do the difficult AP classes instead of the easy ones like apes, csp, and psychology
half the class is field trips and doing labs from the field trips
any AP classes that are good for a biochem premed?
AP Bio and AP Chem
💀💀
yeah beyond those
im gonna be competing in USNCO this year and the bio olympiad the next year
AP Calc maybe? I’m not sure
Ill just load up on STEM
USABO?
AP Physics
I feel like a lot of the time STEM is valued so much higher than other majors
Yea
Yeah cause smart people are good at STEM
Its so ez to get ECS tilted towards STEM
Fr
Another thing is the way my schedule looks, is I’m doing 0 AP classes freshman year, 1 AP class in sophomore year, 4 AP classes in junior year, and 3 AP classes in senior year
I could do 5 AP classes in junior year but that’d probably be overkill
Then 3 AP classes looks like the max I can do in senior year
I can’t fit anymore in my senior year
I was wondering how do you get the AP scholar award?
Thats not the point
The AP scholar award isn’t everything
What?
I gotta focus on my extracurriculars too
I was just curious. We didn’t even have the AP scholar at my school
We had the IB diploma which is really hard
Oh ok
Ohh
Wow. Just looked it up its much easier
Score of 3 or higher on 3 or more exams
Ty
a couple people that I know are doing that, but he has a C in one of the classes currently, so it is a difficult thing to do
^ those are the requirements for all of the levels
Thanks
Ohhhh
does anyone here do the CAIE a-levels?
would asking about eventual career choices in this channel be appropriate and allowed?
since im kinda confused what i'd take for college
You could put that in #majors
ooh, thank you sm :) it completely missed my eyes
What is the difference in the curriculum in AP Physics I and Honors Physics?
AP physics tends to be college based class and requires more effort and time then honors physics, honors will be much easier then AP.
@tardy geyser I’m a freshman doing geometry rn
But I’m gonna do algebra 2 in the summer
So pre-calc is sophomore
nice
Wbu
I’m taking ap stats next semester
Hey there, any CS student???
Oh what year you in?
me too
Does your school offer ap precalc next year
for us its level 5
but 4 is honors
they made it weird
cuz usually people starting in french and spanish do level 2 first
but our middle school taught us 2
so we started with 3, which is honors
but german and latin, people start with level 1 cuz it's not taught in middle school, so level 2 is honors for them
so for french and spanish, the progression is 2,3,4,AP
and for german and latin, it's 1,2,3,4
maybe skip to AP
Is anyone taking ap comp science
do you guys think history should be a required course in schools? It doesn't seem like it should be necessary but at my school you have to take 3 history credits to graduate, that time can be used so much better for other courses that you actually want to do
I personally believe that history is fun to learn and can be helpful like helping others learn about mistakes made in history so that we’re able to avoid them today. I think as a basic course it should be, but let students do other things if they want to after a basic course

Heimler's History DISCORD Serv...
I do agree with you about needing a basic course, but why three credits?! I'm STEM focused, sure for analytical skills, one course is okay, but three is over-the-top
i see what youre getting at but even for STEM-based colleges they prefer 3+ history credits too
so i mean its not the biggest downside
In college, ive heard of philosophy students being paired with med students and it working well
History is very much a necessary subject, so many people undermine it and says it’s useless, knowing history is very important and teaches you so many things, you learn from your own past like you learn from history because history repeats itself
If anything, I’d make 4 credits of history required instead of 3 credits
Fr
Bro there’s so much history you gotta learn, it can’t all be taken up in 1 year, to learn at least the basics of all the important stuff, it would take 4 years
Im stem focused too
Not knowing history is why there is so many ignorant people in the world
Being knowledge is very important
True and helps with their morals
Fr
Politics is part of history too
History teaches many moral and what is considered good and bad
A world without history class would have so many shitty people
And the past is important for the future
Frr broooo
That’s why people would be so ignorant and stupid about the way society functions if history didn’t exist
Mistakes, positives, thinking, analytical
Frrrrrr brooooooo
Tragedies, true stories, relating to others
It does teach you a lot
Yeaa
History teaches you about religion too brooo
That’s what I mean people would be so ignorant without history class
yeah and lots of information
Ikrrrr
1 year is way too little to learn all of it
I think everybody should do 4 years of history tbh
Yeah and they make you take it in college because it's so important. Multiple classes I think?
Yeaaa
Cause it’s really important to be educated about the world
I don't think it is required in college
the way society functions is not included in most history courses, politics is barely touched on in history (atleast at my school)
1 year is enough time to learn all that a person needs to be a good member of society - in 1 year you can easily learn about the country's history and the basic way the government works
My problem is when teachers start from the very early years in history
I would argue that anything after 1800 is most relevant to the current world
depends on college and major
for gen-ed i'm pretty sure it's not
All colleges technically require a history course for general education, however many colleges are lenient for what is considered a history class. What i read online. So we’re kind of both right and wrong
Yea, maybe just your own country, but you really gotta learn how other country’s are too
And morals and religion and stuff
And politic history classses are useful
It’s not just your own country you gotta learn, it’s the whole world
The history of the world
And all the morals, values, positives, negatives
Bro very early years are very important too
You need to know how the world started 💀
You are thinking too small
History class is a lot bigger than you think
You definitely need 4 years
History teaches you how to think in a proper and complex manner and construct persuasive arguments
I highly suggest you watch the video I sent that covers why studying history matters because it will really help if you listen to the points made
Frrr
I agree whole heartedly. We are currently living in history and everything we have ever done was paved by history. Especially when it comes to law, at least in the legal system I live in the laws that citizens are required to follow are the same as when they were created. By examining what society was like when laws were created and compare them to now we can analyze what concepts are outdated, have become corrupted, could be interpreted differently, or should stay. The laws of society are backed by history. I personally enjoy history and that's a major reason I would enjoy studying law
In history we learn how past actions affect future actions. The dumb choices our society has made to lead us where we are today, and hopefully how we can do better
Absolutely correct
Yup it’s very important
I really like history too
Ya my 2 favorite subjects are history and English, but honestly if I had to pick one it would be history due to the subjectivity of English
Frrrr
I like history more than English too
I’ve always liked history a lot
But I’m more of a stem person overall
Math = Physics > History > Biology = Chemistry > Language (Spanish) > English
Is the order I enjoy classes
Ikr history is so interesting and you learn a lot
For real broo
I hate it when people reduce history classes to "simple memorization"
💀💀
And history teaches geography too
You know those dumb American videos that can’t locate any countries
That’d be most of the world if it wasn’t for history class 💀
Yeah we would forget about all of our maps
Lol
Fr
Although I’m American, but I learn geography in my free time
So I’m really good at geography
Cause it’s interesting
It was learning about Roman and Greek history that led Europe into the renaissance
Although my ethnicity is Asian
Yessirrr
does anyone know if physics 12 is a requirement for most universities? (going into general science) i haven't decided which uni yet but i kinda want a big picture
is this good for next yr?
- Junior yr:
- band 0 and CNA (Spring) and internships (both semesters)
- AP bio
- AP music theory
- Apush
- Wind symphony
- Spanish 3
- Ap lang
- Math (online)
- Anatomy (online)
i plan on having 5yrs of science
- Summer:
- Volunteer/work as CNA at hospital
- Flute competitions
- Precalculus
- Special admit (Any AP test that I didn’t get a 3/5 or above in)
- DE
- Research/internships
I'm pretty sure those videos are edited to make the person look dumb
But one of my friends thought Ecuador was in Egypt, so I totally agree☠️
💀
I agree with that
That's good. What's CNA?
Which college do u want to go to?
I'm very good at History
One of my favorite subjects infact
Certified nursing assistant
UCLA
Cma =certified medical assistant
ok yeah, I see your interest in the medical field
Yeah that's good
Do u know some good music related opportunities such as orchestras and competitions?
do u mean specific ones?
sure
anything else?
Here's one my friend did
this is a competition
most of em i cant do cuz its on the other side of the earth
Which country are you in
The links I gave you have many online
programs
Most are in the uS
and then the Carnegie hall is a prestigious competition
so it would be worth it to go to New York
Should I take Applied Physics next year or Chemistry?
What do you like more?
If you like maybe idk chemistry the go with that
But I recommend you to look online about things you will be learning in both category's cuz then you can see which one seems more interesting and better to you
Whats ur major?
Take the class that relates to ur major the best
Automation
Definitely physics
Is it better to take College Credit Plus (Dual Enrollment) English or AP Literature?
their both the same thing and colleges consider it the same
take the Dual Enrollment
its easier
My teacher told us AP Lit is more fiction stuff, and the DE class has both nonfiction and fiction.
I might prefer AP Lit since I do not want to go through the entire process of writing, which is what the DE class does.
Should I take Ap capstone: ap seminar next year when i’m a sophmore
Idek what that class is but it sounds easy
Bc my school’s class selection forms for next year are out
AP seminar is so free and fun imo
What is the ap exam for capstone courses
Cause I don’t really see how you can do an mcq or FRQ on seminar and research 😂
Seminar and research are usually whatever the school decides it to be
My chess class is considered seminar and my research class is study hall
I think it is all writing/free response based off of the research one who has done the course has done
I haven't done it tho so my word means nothing 👍
Research doesn’t have an actual exam
And for seminar 55% of the exam is class work
Which is better for an Automation/Robotics engineering student, Applied Physics or General Physics?
You should take college credit plus
It depends on the college
Did you take ap language and composition
seminar is an individual and group presentation and like three short essays as the end of the year exam. Research is just one research paper due in May that's like 15 pages and a presentation
so what dual enrollment courses are you planning to do
I'm trying to do chemistry but the process is really confusing
I am going to take it my Junior year.
So why are you taking Ap lit isn’t that a 12th grade course?
no u can take lit first and then lang
idk
It is. I am just planning for it.
i want to take ap calc bc next year but if i do, i'll have to drop spanish 3
im thinking of maybe doing spanish 3 in the summer and continuing it senior year in person
but is that a good idea?
yeah
Gonna depend on your school/what exactly those classes are since they’re not a standard hs class. Ask your teacher
guys i have 2 options, i am a sophomore taking AP physics 1 this year and i have two options for next year's schedule
- Double up AP Bio and AP physics 2 next year
- Just take AP Bio next year and double up AP chem and AP physics 2 senior year
I think AP Bio + Physics 2 would be easier
Hello everyone next year I need to choose between AP Biology, or AP World History, but everyone is saying how AP world history is extremely difficult. What should I pick?
Depends on what you are more interested in
Do you like science or history better
And if you know what you want to do in the future you can also base what you choose off of that
AP World History is not difficult
it's the easiest of the history aps
I mean
Could you not do both?
They're in different subject matters
imo ap bio is useless unless u want a major in bio
History on the other hand, should be taken regardless of major
option one is better, but I'd recommend physics C if you school has it
hellooo
so i’m going to year 12 next year and i need to pick some subjects for ib, but i’m not sure what to pick for some of them
i’m doing ibdp btw
and this isn’t a permanent decision yet
i’m planning on doing:
pick the subjects that relate to ur major the most
i still don’t get it
tbh.... if ur a senior, u should know this stuff alr lol
A major is what you want to specialize in basically
OH
major is the subject/course u want to take to get to ur dream job
wait but is it just one subject or a few related subjects
oh 😭
are you from the us
You can have a major and a minor too
yeha
Yea
or double major
ohh
True
bc the course that im going to take is like
you choose 3 higher level subjects and 3 standard level subjects
???
and im not sure whether to choose biology or chemistry
LMAO
it’s an igcse course
whats ur dream job
um i haven’t decided
which is why im taking IBDP
if the students have alr decided then they will usually take IBCP
which is like
for example you wanna be a chef
what field do u wanna go to
then they will send you to cooking school
wdym
do u have a brief idea on what u wanna do
A field is like medicine or finance
i’m not fully sure but i wanna be a teacher / tutor
but i’m choosing ibdp to go to university, not start a job right away
school teacher?
and i plan on going for the full 4 years
idk what a ibdp is
yes
it’s just a course where you mainly focus on getting into universities rather than jobs
what does it stand for
there’s not definition for IB
but IBDP is IB diploma programme
IBCP is IB Career programme
you can think of it as a non optional course that you have to take in order to graduate
There is
It stands for International Bacceularat
ignore spelling
It's kind of like AP
Anyways
I would recommend taking a communications course for higher level since you want to be a teacher, a course in higher level that might be the subject matter you want to take, I would recommend some other sort of humanities HL, and then the regular you can choose
I would recommend Chemistry
or take both if you like
im thinking physics C in 12th grade bc i want to take it after having taken calculus
oh so that wasn't forr 12th?
i can take physics 2 next year, and senior uear i could either take ap chem or physics C
how does it look?
hi i need advice for my classes next year!! so im going into my junior year next year and i want to go into the medicial field, but im really stuck on what science i should take for next year
im open to anything but like what do ppl recommend??
AP Chem, AP Physics, AP Bio
okay thank you
which AP do u recommend cause ill probably only take one of those next year
Is physics 2 even worth it?
I’m not sure since I’m also a freshman but I think it’s worth it if you have time in your schedule
This might sound stupid, but does European history count as world history?(might depend on school) For my school freshman don’t have to take a history class, but can take world history as an elective. After that, they take euro. (While other sophomores take world) However, when I look at the placement criteria for euro, it says you just need to be a sophomore with a good grade in english, no world history required. My school requires 3 years of social science to graduate. (world and us history and gov/economics)
So as someone who isn’t taking world history right now, would I be able to take euro next year and graduate?
Ask your counselor
sure
Any indian?
Biology related course advices pleasee
Other than medical
stuff like research
Labs nd stuff
my school considers ap euro under world history,
I live in California
But, they forbid freshman from taking a history class
😄
i’m CenCal
Never knew that was a term
i made it up just now bc idk how to tell people i’m from the middle
Oh lmao, so Fresno/Bakersfield area?
Actually I’m not sure if most of us here know where they are…
yeah lmao
is he taking C or 1? which one is easier?
Places for college and career for biotech ?
@wise forge
guys im in 10th grade right now, and next year they are gonna give us options for various streams like science, commerce, humanities etc
if i wanna go into hospitality
should i take commerce or humanities?
hii when are you gonna present your tmp?
Not sure
he took ap chem and ap physics in sophomore year, i dont talk to him anymore, but last time i checked he had a C in ap chem i am pretty sure, he probably brought it up though. ap chem is definitely the harder one. the trio of main science classes in order of difficulty would be ap chem, ap physics 2, ap bio, and ap physics 1
Hey, I'm a sophomore in highschool right now, and I'm wondering what courses I should take my junior year if I'm interested in going into architecture? I took my school's intro to construction and intro to interior design courses my freshman year. I currently have principles of engineering on my schedule and possibly AP art history, any other recommended classes? Thinking of taking physics
Ap physics and ap calculus
hello I’m in 9th grade and I didn’t take any social studies course this year which means I can’t take APUSH which is a class I was thinking about. Anyways this means my options for 10th grade are world history or civics. Which should I do?
figure it out
Wow thx
what i was talking about is AP Physics 1 vs AP Physics C- i could double up with AP Chem and AP Phyics C in junior year instead of AP Chem and AP Physics 1 in sophomore year depending on which one would be easier
thing is i'm taking chem h rn
so i'm going to lose a lot of knowledge if i take ap chem junior
they probably do review past material at the beginning, but still a disadvantage nonetheless
hey im also a freshman and didnt take a social studies
what im gonna do is take ap world next year
for us all we have to do is fill out a form that says u cant drop out of this course because u took it without teacher recomendation
i also wanted to know if i sould take pre calc over the summer so that I can take calc AB/BC
in my sophomore year
do not do ap chem and ap physics c together it will be extremely stressful
its not a good idea to take precalc over the summer, a lot of work done in precalc is important for later
I’m a sophomore and was wondering if I should take HL math next year for the IB diploma Programme. It jumps directly into calculus and you take the AP Calc BC Test and get a concord and calc AB score. Is Calc BC applied in many STEM fields?
Yes
Oh that’s interesting I’ll talk to my guidance counselor and see if I can do something like that
I have Maths AA HL in IB. Should I also go for AP Calculus BC?
I know this probably depends on the school but is it possible to transfer from a regular to an honors class in second semester?
Because people from that honors will be going to the regular
no
i wish but no
thats when you fail your honors class or can't handle it
Ask your counselor
i dont think u can in high school because some courses are year long courses while others are semester long courses. i would say things like math, science, history (social studies), and ela would be year long courses and u can transfer to honors next year
i can give an example of honors bio and regular bio, they both are the same but honors go in depth more which reallly helps in ap bio but u can take ap bio as long as u finish some kind of bio (regular or honors)
ask ur counselor on what they would recommend u to do or ur teachers
is C harder
ask your teacher- for most, almost all, yes, it’s a bad idea, but some are qualified enough to do it
my teacher approved me for it too
so you should ask your teacher
be warned- depending on how inflated your grades are, you’re going to need all A+’s in a2h to even have a shot
yea i will i just dont wanna fail ap ab/bc 😭
my grades aren’t that inflated and i still need a 97 so
oh yeah for us ab is a prereq of bc
it’s extremely stupid
algebra 2 honors
oh
im doin that this year
94
like quarter year
no
oh then i don’t think you’re going to be able to get it
just semesters
you could ask your teacher
why
any assignments coming up that can boost your average?
so the first semester was geo B so i got a 94 in that
now im gonna finish algebra 2 in the second semester
you took geometry in one semester
yea its an accelerated course
its broken in two parts geo A was completed in 8th grade
okay then i actually wouldn’t recommend it unless you turn out to be really really really good at algebra 2
because algebra 2 packed into half an year
lol
yea but everyone who takes it gets atleast an A like 80% of ppl
then your grades are inflated
which makes it even worse
i mean you should defo ask
wdum inflated
yea i will
but based on what i know now i would strongly not recommend taking it
generally higher compared to other places
oh did u take it
oh
i’m planning to and am taking algebra 2 rn, my teacher already cleared me for the course
it’s hard to get an A+ here
people have 60s
yea
so my A+ is probably way harder than yours
idk you should ask but i wouldn’t do it if i were you
yea cause u guys spend a whole year so more units
so if I get an A+ should i ask my teacher
like second semester for algebra 2
you should ask your teacher anyway, but even if you get an A+, idk if you should take it because everything’s going to be crammed in, so you’re going to remember less
C is very hard
C is harder trust me
the higher pass rates are artificial
only people who know what they are doing take C
If I want to be a Pharmacist, does it matter if I take APUSH, AP Psychology, or Duel Enrollment Psychology?
have you taken it
no
all of these courses are great
any would be fine
Okay.
Does this freshman schedule look good?
Honor bio
Algebra 1
Honors English one
PE
Intro to business
Italian 1
Concert choir
N/A (any ideas?)
Lunch
I plan to go into economics OR physics
Also my school does not offer study hall so I can't put a study hall in the blank spot
that's good
I don't see any social studies
so maybe somme kind of history
try ap
Oh yeah I will do AP world history
i havent taken it, but from what I have read, and heard from some friends, it seems to be very difficult, but there are also different kinds of C, so maybe consider that first
in our school, there's just plain old 'C'
not mehcanics or elec/magnetism
so idk 🤷♂️
For us, mechanics and e&m are combined, so each is a half semester, making the course a lot more rigorous.
same
I forgot that ap world existed freshman year lmao
I am thinking of taking normal Chemistry and AP physics 1 together. How hard will it be? Is it manageable or not? For my sophomore year
I dont think it will be that hard, seems fine to me.
And APUSH 💀
Oh, hm
Depends on what your other classes are
Most people at my school handle 2-3 aps comfortably (a lot of people take more than that though, that's just the average) so if those are the only aps you'd be okay.
Yep, those are the only 2 we are allowed for sophomore year.
hi i need advice for my classes next year!! so im going into my sophomore year next year and i want to take AP physics C. Is it worth taking?
So im a freshman in high school, I am going to go to college to be a robotics engineer. Currently I'm in Geometry (normally freshmen take algebra 1 but I took it already) I plan on doing running start
What classes should I do?
oh are you in washington? just curious
as a freshmen in running start its mostly just general classes
but you can still skew it to your favor by taking more stem oriented classes and the minimum number of humanities classes
Thanks that is helpful
Ap/ib, additional summer classes, additional online classes
De and special admit
Thanks
Is it recommended to take 4 years of language and 4 years of science?
Cause if I do that I wouldn't have enough room in my schedule for macro and or human geo
Colleges ive looked at recommend 4 years of science and for language recommend 3 years. Always can do language outside of school or join a club with it
All we got is culture clubs
Both
Take lang/science online or during the summer
So that ull have space for the extra stuff
Thats not enough
Im doing 5yrs of science
Idk if I'll be able to due to ballet intensives but great idea
Whats ballet intensives
Bio honors, chem, ap chem, anatomy and ap bio
Basically they are programs for ballet companies that people audition for to train during the summer. Usually they are about 4-6 weeks and dancers have the opportunity to be taught by great teachers at well known companies
Or do macro and human geo online or summer
Do that
I also am a cit for my schools mock trial camp in the summer
Whats cit
Helping the middle schoolers learn what mock trial is and how to write direct exams, cross exams, opening statements, and closing statements
Counselor in training
Ok look
Do any classes in the summer or online
And do it 2x so that u can take all the classes u want
You’ll need to look at the schools you want to apply to. See what is recommended and do them. If your not majoring in science field don’t have to do 4 yrs but its recommended. For language, recommended for 3 yrs but depends on which school you want to go to
This is also based on what ive seen and the schools im applying to
I would recommend taking extra classes so that it makes u a better applicant
Not just what they recommend
Thats true but sometimes your schedule is packed full where there is no room for extra classes. Can take summer classes but sometimes not always necessary
Sure
Just depends on the school they want to go into really
But that “necessary” can be the deiciding factor weather u get accepted or not
Not really
How so
They want to see how you are as a person too. Not just your jam packed schedule of classes thru summer
Well it shows that ur determined to take advantage of everything ur offered
Taking another biology class over summer is not going to be the deciding factor if you get in
Having more classes taken but writing about your self centerness verus a student with less classes who is genuine and has different experiences and can contribute to the universities environment is going to be better
Sure, ig
On paper, everyone is going to look the same
4.0 GPA or close, rigorous classes taken
What decides it is the person the essays, interviews, statements
Experiences
Wdym by experience?
With the EC they have applicants do like how do they interact and view their communities, opportunities
The thing is macro and human geo are more related to what I want to go into but the language and science classes are what is recommended by colleges I see
Either sound fine
Just do it during the summer/online
Cool
Lang/science
I also wanna do self study
Law right?
Yep
Tbh… based on my experience, online classes are soooo much easier
For euro and comparative gov
Thanks for the advice
What schools are you aiming for?
Tho I also gotta see what my schools allow, idk if they allow online courses outside of the school
They should cuz i dont see why not
It's rlly general I just wanna keep my options open
Sometimes they dont. Before covid the school i went to did summer school at a school
So might be reverting back to that
Whatever college ur aiming for, aim above it, cuz most likely if u aim for that specific college ur not gonna get accepted
Unless its a community college
Ok well majority of them are good
Unless unaccredited or some of the private ones. The really small random ones
I completely agree
extra work doesn't always make you a better applicant
they are also looking that you keep some downtime
and work on stuff like ecs
Hey guys, I am a rising freshman and have chosen a few courses.
But i am unsure about one thing
I am double stacking with geometry and algebra 2 next year.
However I am looking to take geometry over the summer and get the credit. Is that possible?
Can i also take health?
yeah
and yes
Thanks!
Is Junior Honor society good? Im planning to get into it once I hit 8th grade
I feel like it can kinda depends. Try to make as much friends as you can because they may come with high school with you. Sometimes I feel like some people can be toxic but don't worry about that. Most people are pretty nice.
I already have a good ring of friends, most of them are pretty smart, im actually plannning to go to jhs with one too
nice. there are people from other schools too so you could make friends with them too.
i really want to pursue a medicine major, so should I take science every year?
there really is no medicine major only a premed track in the US. id definitely take many science and math classes but also pursue classes youre interested in as well. balance is key
a, i really hate math
you can major in anything as long as you get your premed reqs in college then you can apply to med school
its my worst subject
on the MCAT, med school test, you will be tested on Calculus, Statistics, and Physics at the college level so id definitely try to grasp the basics in highschool
alr tysm, i'm going to highschool in sep so i'm trying to understand to do and what courses to takle
Is AP SS important or can I just take it in summer school for credit.
what is SS
social studies
depends on where you want to go to school/ what career you want to pursue
If summer school gets you college credit, you should be okay if youre planning on going to a school in your state (public) and not really history/humanities career
oh ok. thanks.
whichever one you like more
i canat choose tho bc i like them both so much
Do you have a Camera? or Do you have the Software for digital art? AT HOME?
Well I use my dads old camera and i have adobe ps that i use
oand I want to get more advanced at photography but I also am trying to make desins for companies
Choose the one that you would end up using more often or will be more useful as well after the class has ended.
Like after the course is completed
which one are you able to learn more about at home?
I guess I might chose photography
bc i like going and taking pictures outside
and i do it alot
is there a due date for when u submit
cause if its in like a month or so, i highly suggest taking a few days and sleeping on it.
Definately do some research on both
see which is able to offer you more
its due friday night
aa
yea there is a due date when you submit your electives
is everything else done?
yeah
really? mine hasnt given me one
i took psat in septmeber. depends when you take psat
I got it before Christmas break but I was sick so i didnt know about it
I take my in july
its online prob
my psat
check in college bored
Has anyone taken film lit? I want to take it next year but I don’t know if it’s hard online. I’ve also heard rumors that the final is a scripted video?
way easier
Hi, I am starting hs in august and we got our course selection sheets. I want to major in computer science as of right now. Is it a better idea to take a sport (like soccer or basketball) all four years for my extracurricular thing(??) or computer science courses all four years. I am really stuck, would appreciate help since I am new to all this and it’s really giving me a headache 😭
Also since I am in Texas, we have to choose an endorsement. You can get a specific endorsement in many ways. I chose stem and one of the options is to get 5 credits in maths, which I will already get since I am taking algebra 1 rn. Computer science is another way, and I was planning to do them both for a stem endorsement. Good idea?
Do both? Don’t sacrifice your sports for a class
it’s the second semester of school and i am currently in honors geography, however our school is offering us a chance to move up/down as needed. if i take hgap this semester, i won’t be able to take the ap exam but will i still be able to have the 5.0 gpa credit if i max?
also will i be too far behind
you can also cbe a math class for the credit
take the exam
it is good
i cant take the exam the payment deadline was last semester for us
oh ok
well I recommend not doing that for the later exams
these exams can help get college credit
if i want to be a doctor what do you think is a better choice chem or physics
Chem
i would say take french if youre not already taking a foreign language
Chem
Take the class that relates to ur major the most
what about between bio and physics
bio cause that has more to do with being a doctor
honestly, I would ask these kinda questions which have to do with your profession to your councilors
they will have the best advice for u and might help you choose
I don’t have any more spots for my electives I have to choose between one of them, but could I join a sports team in my school without being in p.e? As in like it doesn’t count as an elective just a before/after school thing
Sorry for so many questions just that my school never explained these things
Oh I didn’t know we could do that, will try thank you 🙂
I need help selecting my courses for junior year like asap
Dm me
I got u
Ok bet
Do it! It’s interesting and very easy
Do you have senior year advice too
I don’t like how your school works, honestly if i were you I’d join a club team
Chemistry wins
Advice for what
I can help
Schedule
Bio
I would recommend bio junior yr and chem senior cuz chem builds a lot from bio and chem is a bit harder
And since ull be taking lots of aps junior, save some of the hard stuff for senior yr to balance the work load
Isn't biology a freshman level course?
Ap bio?
Ok
AP Chem doesn’t build off bio…
Well their related
Okay thank you! 😊
Hello here's my almost finalized course decisions for Sophomore year if y'all can review
AP Seminar
Precalc w/Trig Honors
Chemistry Honors
U.S. History
French 1
Study Hall
Adv. Mixed Choir
Weightlifting 1 (semester)
Intro to Artificial Intelligence (semester)
I would recommend doing Apush instead of Reg. US History if you can
Hm fair enough. I picked reg because I don't really like social studies that much.
No the only overlap I’ve seen is in unit 5 kinetics they very briefly talk about catalysts in a biology perspective but even the catalyst part of unit 5 is not very biological and mathematical instead. There is very very very little overlap between the two
Apush is a good intro course especially if you plan to take AP euro or something your junior year
Alright
Is there anyone who is currently or took ap macroeconomic
a lot of my friends do and ive seen the coursework
really good class to take if you know common sense
Hi, I was wondering if I could get some feedback for courses (sophmore year)
AP precal
Adv chem
Adv English 2
AP World history
AP comp sci a
Debate
Engineering
Adv Spanish 4
Hello
Are you taking ap microeconomics
How would you say the workload is?
What’s the difference between adv chem and regular chem. Ap chem?
yeah
It's equivalent to prep AP/honors, it's just called advanced at our school
tbh it's not that bad, there are fewer units in micro than the usual ap classes. lol and it's one of the easier aps too. i think its the ideal ap to take if its ur first year taking ap exams
Oh ok
Did you take macro
Thanks for the advice lol
np! happy to help
I was stressed out a bit
ohh
How is Cisco
r u planning on taking these aps this yr?
Yes 3 this semester
I was thinking of trying for it either soph or junior yr
But I think I can handle the workload
oh nice, which ones? :o
Yea, ap compsci, ap lang and micro. It’s gonna be fun
should I do ap stats or calc ab first
that's nice :D i heard ap computer science principles is one of the best aps to take
gl studying for them
u learn python right
def do ap comb sci, if ur planning to do stem in college do engineering
Absolutely I have no coding experience but it’s ok, thanks,
It’s one of the easiest ap classes
w3schools is super good for self study
java
Thanks!
wait what that's interesting
whats the difference between java and python
arent they the same thing but in diff format lol
java harder
Have you took ap macro
can i get some advice on my sophmore year courses
AP Calc ab
Ap com sci
Ap world history
Ap stats
English 10 honors
honors chemistry
Aerospace Science 1
Study Hall
no I am sophmore
Ap calc as a sophomore?
Looks good if you can mange everything. It does look a bit unbalanced though so I would add another English/humanities class
Should I take Methods or Specialist math I get a 91 in Methods and a 89 in Specialist but I get more towards my grade with specialist
I’m taking precalculus now as a freshman
Ok
Thank you
Is taking computer science better for course selection or ICT?
Depends on your intended major
Np
Should I take AP Chemistry and AP biology in sophomore year?
either or imo, have you taken an intro course in either?
Hi guys is this a good schedule for 9th grade
English I honors
Geometry honors
Biology honors
Ap human geography
Comp sci I
Girls soccer
Spanish II
yeah i’m in 9th grade now and had a similar schedule and it’s going great for me
whats ur major
sounds good, but u might want a 0 period if its not alr there
Is this worth taking? srry for blurry image
u dont have any electaves?
Hi, I'm planning to take AP Chem and AP physics 1 together in my junior year. For those of you who have taken those classes, Is it manageable to take them the same year as you also take other APs like APWH, APprecalc, and APlang?
ap chem and physics are the hardest science classes
if u want to do 2 science classes, do ap bio and anatomy irl or online
I want to go into aerospace enginerring. Thats the reason for physics. And Chem is because colleges like them i guess.
y u doing 2 science classes in junior yr?
what about senior yr?
I want to send the scores for both classes, but if i split them up, i will only be able to send score for one class since the ap scores come out really late
No sceince classes senior year
ok? and
ur only making ur life harder cuz ur concentrating all the hard classes ur junior yr
so what r u gonna do senior yr?
colleges will understand
APcalc AB, APlit, AP psych, AP gov, and maybe AP stats
And maybe ap macro and micro
lets talk in dms
i might have a better solution
Alright
you chose which ones
ur not gonna pick?
its still january
What would you guys recommend for me to take Ap Wise.... I am trying to force my way into obtaining a new spot for a class thru dropping my study hall or obtaining an independent study from orchestra and wahtnot...
next year (junior year) id be taking AP USH, Ap Calc BC, AP Lang, Honors Physics (Potentially self-studying AP Physics 1 (just to bomb the exam lol)), Orchestra, Spanish 3/4?
then the plan for senior year is to take:
Calc 3, Ap Research and AP Lit, AP Spanish, Orchestra, and some sort of AP or Honors Science class (preferably AP obviously but I am not sure if I am able to fit into a double-blocked class into my schedule)
what are your optiuons
What you should take depends on what career path you want to go on
id have to check
I just realized I can replace honors physics with AP Bio or Ap Chem or Ap Physics C I think I'll probably take Ap Bio tho if I were to drop my study hall
There's no requirement that I have to take a physics class for top colleges right???
I think I'm being a little stupid but better safe than sorry
I am looking into medical or business or as safety computer science/stem
@tiny lily the electives at the high school are AP Seminar and Research, Journalism; elements and production, creative writing 1/2, oral communication, stage tech, ASB student council, AVID 9-12th, Senior Project, School Annual 1-2/3-4, assisstanace for teachers, labs, and office.
I have a feeling there is more to it, but I'll have to search
Then I would recc AP bio
It depends on your district like what graduation requirements you have but you should be fine without physics
Can someone give me some advice too? I am taking as many honors courses as I can next year but I really dont like science. My friends are taking honors biology though and im aiming for an Ivy League and Idk if that may affect my chances of getting in. Should I take honors or stick to regular?
I am taking biology GT rn and planning to take chemistry GT over the summer
GT as in Georgia tech?
i’d recommend taking AP Chem because both bio and chem have aspects of chem. If you don’t take chem over the summer, take AP Bio.
doubt it
I assumed it was an intro honors course at a hs
or college prep
yo i need to choose what 4 GSCE/BTEC subjects i wanna take. I don’t know if i should take GSCE business or BTEC business or economics. also wondering if i should pick sociology or psychology if anyone has any answers about it lmk
I need help on selecting APs for Social studies(for sophomore). Which one should I take AP Gov, AP world, APUSH?
the electives at the high school are AP Seminar and Research, Journalism; elements and production, creative writing 1/2, oral communication, stage tech, ASB student council, AVID 9-12th, Senior Project, School Annual 1-2/3-4, assistance for teachers, labs, and office.
worth taking? (just putting this all together rather than separate text)
AP World
You should take AP chem immediately after an honor or research chemistry
No
I meant like a suggestion
Ap chem is a tad to much to do in junior yr
Depends on your other course load
At my school sophomores do ap chem Lmao
That good
Sophomore yr is usually one of the easiest yr
So taking an ap to balance the work load over the 4yrs of hs is good
Not for me lmao
same
What’s that?
a period thats 0
Honestly don't take them unless you know that the teachers are amazing. I'm currently taking APUSH and have already taken AP World. My APUSH class feels terrible because of just the teacher, the material is interesting, but not to the point that you should take the course if it'll conflict with other courses.
What I'm saying is, teacher good = take, otherwise don't take
How do u find out which high school classes are mandatory to apply for certain majors at a university??....Like I just wanted to know if I can choose economics at UCB if I have applied maths instead of standard maths in CBSE but it's not mentioned on their website
Talk to admissions. They are really helpful
My school offers both Dual Enrollment Pre-Calculus and Honors Pre-Calculus. My math teacher told me that the DE one is for kids that do not want to do a math or science related major/career and want to get a college credit so they do not have to do a gen ed in math while in college. If I want to do in medicine, my math teacher told me that I should do Honors Pre-Calculus. The thing is that both classes have weighted grades. In the DE one, tests are worth 90% of our grade and homework is worth 10%. For the Honors one, it is 80% and 20%. Should I do Honors Pre-Calculus?
Does this math teacher teach the honors pre calc
No.
I think what the teacher is trying to say is its longer. You need to take 2 or more classes for pre calc in college if you dont understand how to do it. So i wouldn’t necessarily favor honors pre calc because what if you dont learn all the material or understand it and go into calc not understanding some key background math
Also its slightly easier honors pre calc if homework is 20% depending on how both of the classes do tests
They both cost the same.
de shouldnt cost $
For some people it does
Tho the people ive talked to im not entirely sure if what they are doing is de
If ur doing it thru a community college then it doesnt cost money
The only thing u need to pay is fees and textbooks
For me, i dont have to pay anything
different community colleges have different polciies
in some cccs
it might be waived
so cheaper
but not completelyy free
we have a 0 period
but only for pE
I actually had a question about that for everybody
Is Taking 0 Period PE worth it so that I can take another class during the day? Or should I just give up lunch?
yes, do pe
most likely, ur not gonna do anything
ok thx
Should I take biotech or engineering in hs if I wanna be a physicist?
very true
Bio
which is best for premed/ good as backup (i am currently grade 12): bioinformatics, neuroscience, or pharmacology? << ive been accepted at uofc for bioinf and at uofa for pharma and considering switching my bioinformatics major to neuro because I heard it had easier courses...
Who so?
It relates to ur major the most
Oh but isn’t biotech more health science related?
But like at my school, the biotech program is so good and all they do is research and write reports and it just seems like I will actually be learning new things. Wouldn’t that be helpful for a physicist?
then u choose
what do u value more
doing research + reports that doesnt relate to ur major or taking engineering and knowing more about the subject ur gonna major in
Or there might be a way to take both
Theres an 80% chance that u can take both
What should a future medical physicist take? Still engineering or biotech?
Physician or physicist
Physicist is someone who does physics
Physician is like a med doctor
A medical physicist
Medical physicists work in health care and apply their knowledge of physics to the development and use of medical radiation treatments, devices, and technologies.
Take bio
This isn't exactly a course selection question, but it is related.
I'm interested in Research, mainly. But the income for researchers(physics and math) isn't much in India.
Engineering seems to be the easiest and most straightforward way, but I don't find much interest in it.
To sum up, I'm not sure whether to pursue my career in Research or Engineering. Any thoughts?
if u want to make more $$, u can go to US or any other country that pays more
here in the US, a physics researcher can make $278,000
which is 22,597,369.00 Indian Rupee
I get that I can go elsewhere, but I would prefer to stay in India itself. Though that is an option...
For My Upcoming IGSCE im gonna choose Computer Science, Economics, And Triple Sciences. Are these type of subjects mostly looked at in University Applications and do these type of subjects get you a good job later on?
What do you guys think is best for a stable job an Ai Engineer or a business woman
I think u should pursure
research
go up to pretigious universities like IIT for research
and maybe do a side job for extra money
if u need it
Yeah, that's why I wanted to join it. AIR 200 is hard, but possible. But my question was on the income level. Its quite low to be able to live in a metro city like b'lore or delhi or kolkata...
No, in a metro city
Where IISc is located
Luck is enough
(I hope)
I know
Yeah, that's why my backup plan is for IIIT
But the ranking is much higher, upto 12k
in IIIT
(not IIT)
Actually that's less
A million = 10lakh
usually 15 lakh take it
keep my options open
True
Why specifically?
Let's see
What???????????????????????????????????/
mans having a conversation with himself
My school it does 150 a credit
Thst is me where I got to pay for credits and books with it
Yup
College course credit
Like 1 credit = 1 class or what
And theres prob like a waiver for people that cant pay, ask ur coucncler or something
1 credit is usually pe, academic classes are 3-5 credits
Yea there are program but so bad you won’t even believe how bad lol it only covers 1 course
Assume 1 course contains 4 credits
oof
my cc waives stuff for high schoolerss
Like free or cheap
I mean mine is waived aswell but still
Good for you lol
hey guys, i am new here in this server
i was wondering if anyone could help me narrow down my major choices; i'm someone who likes anything and everything and i'm not sure a career choice that's perfect for me
i've been told communications is the best option for me since i love writing but a lot of people tell me comms is the worst major to pick in college. are they correct?
Im the exact same way. Im just going to try everything and see what sticks
i wish i could do that, i'm on a four year course in college
so if i don't graduate by 4 years in my school then i'll have to pay extra because of my scholarship wearing out
Oh i see
so it's like an hourglass is above my head
Arent there requirements and general classes needed?
i've been carefully considering many majors but i see myself everywhee
yea but i would like to take the ones that are hard now and prefer to relax in my senior x junior year
Relax? I thought once done with basic requirements its when it starts getting specialized and difficult
i mean like in terms of prereqs
Oh ok
like obviously it's difficult but it's better when your classes with your major are taken out of the way first
if you understand what i'm saying
Yeah
i also don't want to be a senior in a class with freshman or something LOL
Very true yeah
ohh wait
isn't thissupposed to go into major
the chat that says majors
im moving over there
How is this eh
Red ones are what I’m not sure of
Should I do AP precal or on level precal? If I don’t do precal and instead do statistics as my math 11, will I be able to keep up with Calc ab?
And the other 2 science class I have no ideas what I should do. Maybe physics bc I’m planning to go into stem field not medical.
I'd say do ap precal
it's a free ap
yeah do physics 1, 2, and C
Also
I suggest BC
I think it's more worth it
but of course, if u think u like math
i’m mad that i didn’t get to do ap precalc
I'm not lol
I am taking a harder class and its not even weighted with half a point
It is not weighted whatsoever
oof
Is it because u already did precalc
or ur school doesn't offer it
That's not stupid
currently
Physics C is really important in college for cs and engineering careers
if u take it once in high school it can help u
It’s slightly harder than pre calc bc it’s honors math 3 so it includes alg 2: trig: geometric analysis, differential analysis, and stats/prob
oh
Is it at ur cc
no, hs
oh
well ig collegeboard wanted to give seniors who don't get to calc a math ap
but they were so late
at my school… on a standard track… kids don’t get to precalculus
on an advanced track they do, the accelerated track gets to calc ab, and the honors/gate track gets to bc junior year
so I’m in 8th grade rn and my school is making us do a course selection form for ni the grade so I picked band, money matter, and Spanish 2 is that good?
Should I switch spanish 2 for business management?
stick with spanish 2, id recommend going to at least span 3
Ok and also should I switch money matters for business information management ?
