in between
because US is in question here
and many US unis are more open to APs
Yes IB is better
but for us, some aps would be great
the thing w IB is that you can either do the full program and get the diploma or a couple of classes so i wouldnt be able to take APs if i do the diploma program
kk thank u
It is fine APs are mid anyway
IB’s are really good
You aren’t missing out on much
kk thank you both so much!
is this good for junior year
Is this good Sophomore year?
PreCalc w/Trig Honors
AP Seminar
Chemistry or Chemistry Honors
U.S. History
Advanced Mixed Choir (if not accepted Concert Choir)
French 1 or potentially Spanish 3 (if counselor allows me to skip Spanish 1 & 2 prerequisites because I speak Spanish at home.)
Percussion Ensemble (1 semester)
Ironworks 1 (The PE class)(1 semester)
Alternates: APCSP, lots of classes at my district's Innovation Center.
That's a lot, but I think it's good.
i thought seminar was a junior year course
at my school you can do it sophomore year
I mean of course u can always do it
Regular seminar is the best
I have had the funniest moments there
what's regular seminar
so is that an english course
no
yo
they are not the same
@potent knoll
study hall is a free period to do hmwwk
but seminar is a class where you do research to present and investigate claims
ye
elp im a risingfreshman and have to choose a course for 12th grade
I have sorted out every year before that
but i have 2 early release periods which i dont think i will be allowed
i have met every credit and am doing a stem pathway.
take a humanities course to keep ur options open
I think you might mean AP Research. AP Capstone makes you take AP Seminar sophomore year and AP Research junior year. Or maybe my school just does it differently.
oh...
for us
it's junior and senior year
ah ok
we have to take freshman lit freshman year and world lit sophomore
and then for ap we can choose btwn capstone and english
for AP
Yeah my school does it weird typical Advanced English pathway goes
English 9 Honors --> AP Seminar --> AP Lang with optional concurrent AP Research --> AP Lit
Alright thanks and yeah freshmen and sophomore schedules at my school are always very packed.
more like 2 minutes after it is taught 💀
i might not take any APs at all. we dont even hv AP classes its just advanced classes.
my school only has adavnced STEM and language classes and i think it would look funny for me to take advanced classes wen im applying as a lit or philosophy major. wat do u guys think?
take them anyways
its always good to show you have grit and take advantage of your opportunities
Always take rigorous classes
It’s unfortunate that your school doesn’t think highly of humanities, maybe consider a switch
If your gonna take ap seminar 10th and research 11th, that English course are u taking 12th?
If you are gonna take ap research 11th
AP Research is an elective at my school but AP Seminar is an English class so AP Lang junior year and AP Lit Senior year
bru
my school has
bio (im taking rn)
chem
ap bio
ap chem
anatomy
physics
idk what the best to take if im trying to become a doctor
if i get enough credits in like summer courses i can fit in a 5th
my school made them both electives
Ohhhh
all of those except physics
and chem isn’t necessarily top priority
I’m taking 2 honors classes 10th grade
World history honors
English 2 honors
Not taking any APs sophomore year
Not ready
neat
Maybe 11th
yeah but i saw this and i dont really know
well for college yes
i gotta go to college to get into med school
ye
Plus colleges doesn’t even care if u take an ap or an honors class. They just happy your giving urself a challenge
take all of ‘em ig
i wont have enough years to tho
so
id have to take out one class of the others
Ur tryna become a doctor? That’s a W
normal bio
Keep grinding
ap bio is junior and senior year
what math
honors geometry
oh yeah the main issue is that anatomy physics ap chem and ap bio are only offered junior and senior year
if u can move into honors chem next year
that’s good
and then like reg or ap physics 1
along with ap chem or bio
which ever one
- anatomy that same year or in senior year
history 3 years is an extra year for a science class
and then chem or bio senior year which ever one you didn’t do in junior
thats 5
yeah
most ppl do chem junior and then bio senior at my school
oh my school chem is sophmore
ap ^
that makes more sense
i think reg/honors chem in sophomore year is a standard
these are the graduation requirements at my school
im thinking of doing health over the summer just to get it done
You get to choose what year to take health? Lucky.
yes!
Same 😭
damn thats actually sad
health every year
My school requires it freshman year for 1 semester to get it over with but I wish it was a bit more flexible.
my school is actually so goated
the only problems is its low on AP classes i can take
i got ap phys 1 and 2
dang
What's the difference between Chemistry and Chemistry Honors? I don't know which one to take.
honors chem looks better to colleges and is harder
other than that it depends on your school ig
Does it require more math? Or not much?
what science class are you currently taking??
Biology (standard)
I’m in chem honors and honestly, I think it’s just faster paced/maybe harder?
yeah
a b in algebra 1 is recommended
it’s not that bad honestly
Oh OK perfect then
normal chem it says a c is recommended
Alright
I'm going into precalc so the math shouldn't be an issue
I'll consider taking it then
bro as a 9th grader????
No I'm in Alg 2 honors 9th grade
he is 2 years ahead
in 8th grade
Yes
probably
Oh interesting- I did alg 1 in 8th, geometry in 9th and alg 2 in 10th
same
well thats what im doing rn
same same
2 years ahead in math is a pretty normal pathway at my school so I never really thought much of it
interesting
oh wait lmao- yeah there are a couple of people in my school who doubled up on geometry and alg 2 so they’re in pre-cal sophomore year. It’s not very common tho
same
nah they do think highly of humanities. thats why we dont have AP courses for it. cuz my school has a weird curriculum, it's like college prep so the humanities classes there are already like AP level and stuff. Along with the science ones. that's why it's called advanced classes instead of AP
but wont it just show that im taking those rigorous classes just to impress them? the only one i liek is bio
Thats good if you’re taking rigorous courses it doesn’t matter if you like them
Your transcript just demonstrates if you can handle the rigorous courses offered at top colleges
So always try to take the hardest classes with maybe 1 or 2 exceptions ( I didn’t take AP Chem)
I'm thinking of skipping Algebra 1 and self-studying it. Is that a good idea or no?
I'm currently a freshman year in college with a major of Computer Science, planning to shift my major to Data Science, can you guide me on this? I really wanted to have a good background on Machine Learning, also more on being proficient in languages, and I'm also interested in Business stuffs that has huge involvement with Tech stuffs or Software and I also wanted to know which major is harder.
When I started college, I really wasn't sure what to take, but I'm certain to take that involves computers since I was fascinated with those stuff when I was still a kid and wanted to take shot on a career path in the tech industry or many do a software/tech startup? I still really don't know what I really wanna do.
This is something college specific, you’d really need to talk to a counselor there about switching majors. To the other things, i’m not sure I understand.
what grade are you in?
I think she's in 8th grade
i mean like wont they know im just doing it for college? and i wont get any college credit
cuz its not AP
idk
i'll see
im doing them junior year since my school only allows adavcned classes junior year and up
It doesn’t matter if you’re doing it for college or not
Colleges want to see a rigorous transcript
It doesn’t need to be AP
hmm
i doubt he'll repsond tho
lol
or my college counselor but i dont trust college counselors
Gohar’s brother made a video saying that you should always take the hardest classes, even if AP isn’t offered
Trust me always take rigorous classes
Colleges know that you want to get in, nobody just does advanced classes for the hell of it
yea but u should also hv a theme and all that and bio, chem and physics isn't in my theme. (my theme is literature)
hmmm idk i'll look more into it
i still hv a year left to decide
but ty tho
i'll prolly only take one class junior year tho
which is AP bio
but like my school itself is already rigorous without the Advcaned classes
I'm in 8th grade.
if im interested in software engineering / want to major in cs, should i take ib business or global politics
i took business in igcse so im quite familiar with it, but global politics sound quite interesting
um neither are super lendable to cs
But I would take global politics cause that’s important
I’m in 9th grade and taking algebra 1, next year should I take geometry H dual enrolled with algebra 2?
sure!
Yeah go ahead
alg II isn't hard at all
and geometry is fun
but just be aware
that isn't called dual enrollment
For my school when you take 2 of the same core classes, it’s dual enrollment (for this context)
Maybe geometry over the summer will be more manageable
I am interested in being a pharmacist, and I learned that physics is important. I also want to take AP Bio and AP Chem though. Should I do two science classes in my junior year? If so, should I do Honors Physics and AP Bio or Honors Physics and AP Chem together?
Whichever is more important for being a pharmacist
I am probably going to do AP Bio and Honors Physics my junior year and then AP Chem my senior year.
im someone who have always had bad handwriting (dysgraphia if u know what that is, not proud of it 💀) and i wanted to take AP Lang my junior year. Currently im on the path to be a comp sci major also interested in math. Junior year my lineup is ap world history, ap calc bc, ap java (taking ap chem) and im in this IT/comp sci course that takes up 3 pds (rly good course btw), and maybe ap lang. the reason i would take it is cuz it would help me get better at writing and boost my gpa. i prolly wouldn't take the test. Should i still take it
I would recommend seminar
and research
but for my school i need to take a english class every yaer
its for state graduation i think
unless that counts
What’s ur state @dull flower
Yeah doing Lang is fine it’s not a hard class
Does anyone recommend doing AP physics 1 before C, or are they both similar enough I could do C
I’m doing calculus BC now and am thinking of taking a physics class next year
Did you take it
Taking it rn
Current grade
11
99.21
Oh ok
How the heck do you have a high percentage score
I have a 94% in Honors English and you have 99% in AP Lang?
How do you accomplish that
AP Lang is easier than Honors English
Everything is completion
Of course it also depends on the teacher
I have a pretty strict teacher but the writing assignments are straightforward
It is I had no idea, I thought it was harder
I think I didn’t choose my courses properly HELP💀
Do you hand write everything
Do physics 1 before c
From what I know they are very different and ur gonna wanna take 1
But I haven’t taken c so I wouldn’t know
Ok
The one in class essay we did was handwritten
oh?
i love maths(perfect score from past 3 years) and computer science
should i take ap calc?
Did you do anything by computer
Yeah all of the assignments are by computer and the take home essays
I wish I could
But my school is trash
🗑️🗑️🗑️
Some parts are easy
Just did the hardest chapter though
Disk method, washers, shells, arc length, that’s the hardest content
That sounds bad
Really
Yeah
89%
It’s hard yeah it takes a lot of practice
Should I take AP Spanish?
I already passed Spanish 1-3 through CBEs and I want that extra GPA boost and AP credit.
The thing is, I'm not sure if my school has Spanish 4, which I don't want to do. What should I do?
@cinder gorge
AP Spanish Lang, if you pass the test, usually translates to
Score 3: Spanish 1-3
Score 4: Spanish 1-4
Score 5: Spanish 1-5
AP Spanish Lit usually translates to:
Score 3: Spanish 1-4
Score 4: Spanish 1-5
Score 5: Spanish 1-6
Note: T50 schools may have slightly different translations.
So, if you feel it’s worth it, even though you have 3 years already, to take AP spanish, go ahead, but it’s a lot of work and prob not necessary
AP test score.
yes
Well I am heritage speaker, and need that GPA boost 🙏
Wait for AP, 1 is the lowest and 5 is the highest?
Yes, but 3-5 are passing
I see.
You don’t usually get anything for 1 and 2
I have heard it’s an annoying amount of work though.
So a 3-5 would mean that I would get the credit and pass the class?
Well I do more Spanish than English every day, soo 😎
Mhm
and if you speak it, then it’s a neat gpa boost, but a lot of native speakers don’t do too well bc the class requires a lot of technical knowledge that actual spanish speakers don’t use
Technical knowledge as in?
It’s a lot more exact gramatical rules and stuff.
I’ve been told that most native speakers just speak the language, they don’t need any of the technical stuff, that the ap class covers.
Like know technology in Spanish? I'm not grasping onto what you're saying 🏃
the other mean for technical
Not relating to tech, but specific, intricate, pertaining to the subject
Oh I see.
I think I'll be fine.
But I'm not sure if my district also has Spanish 4.
I don't want to do that for an extra year.
yeah
I'm going to ask a teacher tomorrow.
Most more selective schools will only give credit for a 4 or 5
I'm in a public, charter school so I'm not sure about mine 🚶♂️
i think they mean colleges
Advice for course selection … at my school physics and chemistry isn’t offered separately. It’s just an integrated class and we’re required to take it in junior year. So after that should I take AP Environmental Science or another class of Physics/Chemistry at my local community college. (I’m planning on majoring in computer science/engineering)
Physics 100%
Okay thank you!
I have to choose between Introduction to Business or Entrepreneurship for next year
which one do I pick?
Description for Intro to Business is: "Introduction To Business introduces students to the business environment and economic system from the viewpoint of activities as a consumer and a worker. It provides an overview of the entire field of business and gives background information that is necessary for those who may desire a business career [like myself]. Course content includes the fundamentals of buying, selling, banking, and financial services, managing money, using credit wisely, insurance, and other business activities."
if you plan to take both, i would take intro to business first
its a good class to take if you wanna take entrepreneurship as well
but if youre like experienced/know most about the business world already
then you most likely dont need to take it
no no im not choosing for you😭
just a recommendation
as someone who took both, i would say that intro to bus is very helpful if you want to take entrepreneurship later on
yeah i wasnt sure and none of my junior and senior friends take/took business classes
ah okay
im not sure if all schools have the same teaching system for that class (probably not) but we spent most of the time in that class doing business simulations
it was cool
I do plan to do both so thanks for telling me which one i should do first
can you do a dual degree (double major) in Cornell?
Yep
My dad doubled in classics and neurobio
can you double in Physics and Econ?
Is it okay to take pre calc over summer then take calc bc? I am currently self studying pre calc.
Which grade are you in?
I would definitely recommend it
it's helpful
and can get u ahead
I am in 9th grade right now
yuppp
But I am also planning on taking these courses
10th Grade
AP Calculus BC
AP Lang/Comp
AP Biology
Chemistry Honors
World History (Virtual)
AP CSP
Engineering Concepts
Is this too much?
And planning on taking the SAT
So I can dual enrolling
For my next 2 years of math
How
Are you taking BC in 10th
The prerequisite is Pre calc at my school
No but how
Wdym
I’m taking algebra 2 right now and if I take pre calc over summer
I can possibly take it
Oh ok I think your schedule is fine
@vagrant solar
Also can you do me a favor
I have a poll in #ap-exam-help
Can you vote
It’s not required though
Okay I did
The one about the IB and AP
Ya that too
Should I take IB or AP classes? What's the difference between the two, and which one would be more beneficial?
What are you planning on doing after bc?
Does your high school offer courses beyond that?
We usually dual enroll at Georgia tech which is Linear algebra/ Multivariable calculus for the 1st year and Applied Combinatorics/ Differential Equations for year 2
I thought AB was after precalc
it is
At my school
After you take pre calc
You can take either calc ab or calc bc
Thats strange
Calc BC skips over some important concepts like limits and derivatives
So I suggest you at least self study those concepts cause you’ll be expected to know those in BC
^
AP is more well-known and practical for American high school students. IB is offered internationally. And I think if you choose to take IB, you have to take six core subjects at the level whereas with AP, you can choose what subject you want to do.
Ah, I see. So, I'd have to go out of the states for IB??
no you dont
its just that
APs are more commonly taken in the states rather than IB
and APs arent offered in as many countries as IBs are
Which is better to take?
Alright, thanks mate.
u have a choice in what subject u want to pursue the weight in
Well some ppl call it ab-bc because 1st semester is ab and 2nd semester is bc
Does ap research get you any college credit?
That’s literally just AB
If you cover AB concepts in the first semester you can’t jump forward to what BC is doing
is Calc BC equivalent to Calc 2 in college?
dayum
is this good for 10th grade? adv English lit/comp 2; adv algebra 2; AP biology: AP European History; cybersecurity; German 2
seems fine
bro so many AP as 10th grade
I mean some people get like 12 aps by the time they graduate
Some get 21
yeah idk how people do that and still maintain mental health
They don’t
You have to sacrifice it
Has anyone taken AP Music Theory? I can't take it as a Sophomore next year but I can as an upperclassmen and I want a general idea of what to take later on. Is it worth it? How hard is it?
Ive basically done the equivalent and it’s pretty basic from a theory perspective but if you’re starting from nothing it’s hard
You’ll be tested on intervals and scale writing
Ah alr
If you’re a pianist it’s also easier because all tbeory is built off of the piano
It has no application for irl though
Unless you want to go into music
It’s like problem solving
I mean don’t think of it as easy per day
*per say
It’s a lot to memorize
Like it’s basically the Krebs cycle level memorizing if you don’t already know the basics
Ap music theory is literally just counting
If u alr play an instrument its and easy A class
And if u do CM/ABRSM, ap music theory is just a review
My main musical knowledge is from Choir. I have little background in Guitar and drumming but that's about it. Would I struggle a bit more?
Ive never been in choir but im sure yall read notes, right?
Yes
And are u in like “advanced” choir?
Like dim7, bass notation, the modes, “can you write a Eb melodic scale” etc
Guitar is helpful because you guys read in the DM7/F notation anyways
You just have to learn the scale of 5ths n stuff
It’s hard but it’s not not doable
If u know how to do this stuff, ull be fine
Wait that’s the AP???
Dude I should take thay
That
No, but very similar
That’s literally like the basics
Yeah
I was expecting like SATB and counterpoint stuff
Ull be learning this stuff at like the end of the semester
Will be soon. I'm going into Sophomore year and planning to take APMT as an upperclassmen tho so I should be in that group as soon as next year
Im a sophomore too and ive alr planned my classes for next yr
- band 0 (elective)
- AP physics
- Ap us history
- Wind symphony (elective)
- Spanish 3 (elective)
- Ap lang
- AP music theory (elective)
- Math (online)
- Anatomy (online)
- Before Senior Year:
- Precalculus honors (summer)
- Special admit (summer)
- Dual enrollment (summer)
Wow you seem to have a pretty full summer
I mean… i dont have anything else to do in the summer
And might as well take advantage of every opportunity i have
True
And im also trying to get 300 service hrs during the summer
oh nice
Cuz junior yr is gonna be intense so i gotta get things out of the way for school
should I do discrete math or linear algebra or AP calc BC for my senior year, I am planning on doing computer science in college and I will complete calc ab this year
if anyone could answer this question^^^ that would be great
Ap calc
but isn't discrete more relevant for computer science?
Idk
I can always take ap calc at the community college
Can u do both?
Like one during summer and ap calc?
Or online?
Then y not do both?
since I have to take a math class anyway at school so if i decide to take ap calc bc at community college ill have to take a math class at the school
well I gave 3 options, I can't do all 3 lol
U can do it during hs
Thru special admit
Ask ur councler for more info
It’s basically when u take college courses during hs
I know
Uve got plenty of options
but my school requires me to take a math class during the school year in school
I can still do it outside school but I need to take one in school
To meet ur grad requirements?
well I was planning on only doing 2
since discrete is offered in school
and so is linear algebra
so really I want to know between linear algebra and discrete math, which is the best option
Linear algebra
Discrete is just fancy stats
No it's BC after precalc BC covers everything AB does with exta stuff
I’m in BC and we just reviewed limits, derivatives, and applications of derivatives in 3 days
that might just be your school
Yeah my school starts a month later than everyone else
So we have a different system n stuff
you're not required to take english courses or PE courses?
lucky
ap lang is an english course 💀
oh wait
I forgot
lol
but still
lang sophomore
we have to take pe all 4 years
mhm
same
most states only require 1 year though
or some states
Its only 2 for us
oh
and the thing is...
there is a way to skip pe
if you do varsity sports
but u can only do a study hall
you can't switch it with a course
I only need a semester of PE
oh ok
lucky
anyways
but yeah that's a good course
load
Thanks
But I"m curious
I have another question
It’s either that or 11th lit
Ya
what's the question
So at my school you have to take a research course like AP Research or normal research. Does ap research get you any college credit?
ive never heard of research being a course
At my school it is
it is
AP research
exists
by collegeboard
Ap research does
but usually only if you take seminar before
at our school it's an english course
Ya I have taken seminar this year
so Im going to take seminar and research
AP?
Ya
u can take seminar freshmna year?
as an english course
wait...
hhow many apss are you taking this year
2
Gov
Oh
and seminar is for junior
What do you take as a freshmen?
Oh that’s interesting
I took AP World sophomore year
we can choose between HuG or World
Idk I’ve never taken them
both are good
Physics 1 is a prerequisite
of C
i think prereqs depends on school
ik
but like you can't compare them
because physics 1 comes before
C
oh ok
At my school physics 1 doesn’t come before physics C
Why
What’s MUN
It just depends on if you taken calc or not, if you don’t know calc you take physics 1 and if you take calc or already learned it then you take physics C
Physics 1 and C teach the same concepts just with or without use of calc
same
mine needs a science teacher rec tho
Oh ok
I go to a stem school and I do like what I do there as to the nice project we make and when it comes to humanities, I enjoy philosophy and history so idk. I like aspects of both ig
same
Except I ddon't go to a stem school
I enjoy history
but I'm a stem person
yeah
That’s a class for you??
<@&876195007428718652>
I just did the normal AP history route
Yeah it’s a lot of work I’ve heard
It’s a class yeah
And there’s always the schools at conferences who sweep because they have a literal class on it
I looked into my career, and physics is one of the classes I should take. I can take Honors Physics or AP Physics 1, but I am really bad at physics. So, should I take Honors Physics to make it easier for myself or take AP Physics 1 to look better?
Are history aps worth if you know you aren’t gonna major in history?
I would say to try out AP physics for like a wk or 2, and if its too much to handle u can always drop down to physics honors
it looks good on college apps
I want to take AP Bio along with a Physics course, so that is why I might settle with Honors.
ap bio and physics?
Yes.
why not take ap bio junior yr and ap physics senior yr?
thats what i did haha
I want to take AP Chem too.
whastup quacker
ok
i wouldnt double up a science with AP bio tbh
yeah, ur going to feel overwheled
So, AP Chem and AP or Honors Physics Junior year.
it has too much memorization
Then AP Bio senior?
yeah that works prolly
ap chem and ap physics are the hardest ap's, u sure u wanna do that?
if anything, try doing ap chem with ap bio and ap physics senior yr
cuz chem and bio go together very well
That is why I wanted to do honors insead.
Don't jump into AP physics if you aren't sure you can do it. Colleges look at how well you do in a course along with the course you take. I would say go with honors if you aren't sure
honors works too
Alright.
no AP physics is not that bad
most people can just jump into it imo
It differs person to person
tbh... its better if u take physics honors and then into ap physics
i never took honors AP is fine
Should I ask the physics teacher when it is scheduling time?
Is ap Chem and physics c in the same year feasible?
its feasible but rlly hard
no
the teachers aren’t going to know
u've got to ask other people around the school (students)
Especially the upperclassman that took both
but if u do ask the teachers, their going to over exaggerate
or make it wayy to easy then it seems
I do not know any upperclassmen in my school. My friend is taking Honors Physics and AP Chem next year.
And he said people said the workload was light.
ask people around
time to make new friends
like my friends are mostly upperclassman (cuz some of my classes is with them) and cuz i asked around
Most of the upper classmen are in my honors chemistry class.
then ask people during lunch or something
Will it look bad if I don’t take any history aps?
Freshman year I was in a language with all upperclassmen…it was terrifying at first but I became friends with people
Should I take AP Human geo or AP U.S Government & Politics (in my first year of high school next year)? Or should I just take the regular course of those two? Which would be either World History 3 or Civics.
I mean technically ap is supposed to be if you want to go into that field so no
ill tell u something
everyone that applies to colleges are smart, so 1 ap class wont rlly matter because theres thousands of other people that are like u
I know, but still it's college credit.
Plus, I'm planning on doing at least 2 my first year.
Then more the next years following.
Ap Human Geo
It’s very easy
Like one of the easiest APs
And in my opinion one of the most interesting
AP Gov is easy too from what I’ve heard but there’s a lot more memorization
Yeah
It is a easy class but if your a freshman you are going to have a bit of a hard time with it
Gov is usually taken senior year?
Yes
Yes but special exceptions can be made
chem and bio are pretty related so i wouldnt say its undoable
its gonna be hard, but not "really hard"
icic
are u good in bio/chem?
what would happen if i combine those with AP euro
i would say im pretty good and even if i dont know the stuff i would say im a fast learner
i think its do able
the stuff in bio is mostly just memorizing tbh
yea ive heard that
alr, thanks for ur advice
np! if u have any more questions pls lmk
My school says it makes up doing World History 3 so does that mean I'd have to take World History 1 and 2 before taking Human Geo?
I can’t speak for your school so all I’ll say is that there is no nationally set prereq for Human Geo
You could realistically just jump right into it
How would I figure out what ap classes give college credit (Sorry if this is a little vague)? Also should I be taking more dual credit classes or AP classes thank you for the help
Ap classes gives college credit if u pass the ap exam
I would take dual enrollment in the summer and AP classes during regular school so u dont feel overwhelmed
umm... that matters on your college. If you look up collegeboard college credit policies it should come up
they have different scores
different courses
etc.
And I would start with AP classes and then add on dual enrollment
they both work great together
Thank you
Should I do Advanced (Not AP) Pre-Calculus or Duel Credit Pre-Calculus?
It's difficult for me to say which of these options would be best for you, as I don't have enough information about your specific situation.
In general, advanced or duel credit courses can be a good way to challenge yourself and potentially earn college credit, but they can also be more demanding and require more time and effort.
It my be helpful to speak with a teacher, counselor, or academic advisor who can provide more information and guidance.
Alright.
Ultimately, the decision is yours, so choose the option that you think will be the most rewarding and beneficial for you
is anatomy easy?
do u think its possible to do anatomy online and get an A in the class?
If you’re good at memorization yes
anyone doing a course in aviation?
do you guys think I should take AP psychology or criminal justice as an elective for junior year next year. Both interest me a lot, however I'm leaning toward criminal justice because I think I like that one more, and I'll just take psych senior year. However I am wondering if the GPA boost would matter - would it be better to take psych junior year since psych is an AP and in my school it's weighted on a 5.0 scale not a 4.0
Is this do-able for all As?
CNA = Certified Nursing Assistant and CMA = Certified Medical Assistant
a jump from precalc to calc bc could be challenging, just a heads up
Wdym
Isnt that how it goes?
i mean like
if you compare it to taking calc, calc AB, then BC
its more challenging
but the prerequisite for calc BC is precalc ur correct
But i heard that bc is easier
BC is much harder
Whats the difference between ab and bc
Guys it is kind of stupid that Pre med requires Physics
I am not going to use physics when I am a doctor
Yeah
I want to take AB instead
BC sounds scary
And I am glad my school doesn’t offer BC
With that it’s less about actually learning physics and more about just thinking scientifically
No but it is still useless like they expect us to know please follow newtons laws to perform critically care surgery on a patient
It is useless
In my opinion
It’s more about just things like detail orientation and critical thinking
Most of the stuff in Physics has no application in medical procedures
You could learn that in Chemistry
It does a good job
Better than Physics
There are medical schools you can get into without physics
Like
There’s only a few I think
Yeah most medical school should drop physics
From the requirements
that's a pretty regular progression
it's a myth that Ab is required before
becaause that is redundant
it would be like taking Ap physics 1 one year
and then the next year taking Physics 1 and 2
I like taking Calc AB because BC seems too hard
And BC is useless to me
should I take Ap environmental science
Yeah if you are interested
I wanna try BC
I don’t
Lmao
It is at my school
Cause we start a month later than everyone else
Therefore we don’t have time to cover the first three chapters of AB and so AB must be done first to learn limits and derivatives before one can do BC
So to avoid that I had to take Precalc “honors” which covered the first 3 chapters of calculus A in the second semester
So I was caught up enough to do BC which at my school starts at integrals
If you like it or just need an easy gpa boost
It’s kind of a joke of an AP class the material is 5th grade level stuff
what color is your buggati
Oh...
for us
I'm taking Ap precalc next year
cuz they allowed at our school
and they just switched it out with honors
Well...
I kind of have to take BC
because of what I want to major in
and I love math
a little difficulty doesn't hurt me
Is it okay to take ap Chem and ap physics together? How stressful would it be?
I mean
BC sounds like it is a nightmare
I am going to stick with AB
It is easier to get a A in
Than BC
?
That’s a lot, maybe split into two years
Or one over the summer
Yeah AB is slower but it’s still difficult
Ik but not as difficult
I am scared of failing BC
Is this a good choice of classes for my sophomore year?
World History Honors
Geometry Honors
Algebra 2 Honors
Chemistry Honors
ELA
Spanish
PE, Astro 1
This is what I’m taking now in freshmen year
Algebra 1 CCP1
ELA CCP2
Earth Science CCP1
Algebra LAB CCP1
US Government CCP1
2D Art and design CCP1
Health CCP1
how bad of an idea is it to take ap bio or ap chem sophomore year...
AP bio no but AP Chem probably
Either one is good both will be difficult though
Especially Chem
Is it possible to do AP World History?
If not then yeah that looks pretty good to me
Sadly not, because I’m at the academic level of us gov, i can’t skip honors. I can take AP US History in junior year tho
Ok
Hey Parker
I need advice
What should I do to get a good grade in AP human geography
Next year
hm ok any specific reason im just curious lol
Because AP Chem is hard
Without Chemistry
im taking chem and bio rn
Which I am guessing you don’t have
we were allowed to
Is it difficult
nah
To keep up
not rlly
idk if i should do ap bio or ap chem next year tho
and i also wanna do anatomy and stuff but idrk what to do
What’s your grade in Biology
a
Percentage
How about chemistry
a- 91.34 but im waiting for some work to be put in
don't even worry about that class
I've heard it's super easy
Oh ok
I think you should do AP bio
I'd say continue with both
if u wanted to
both are fine
but for me
I'm doing chem
soph
do both in a year?
I hope so because I am doing a lot of classes
oki dokk
what classes are you taking?
Integrated Science Honors
Geometry
and bio is a bit useless
ok good cause i was like uhhh thats a lot
oh hm ok
are u a freshman?
You know AP Chem is one of the hardest things
Yeah
again
difficulty
does not equal bad
yeahh but it like depends on the person
oh cool same lol
me too
oh slay
Ik but if you don’t have like a 96% or above in Chem AP chem will be very challenging
what classes are you taking?
Just saying
not rlly i mean if you understand the concept you should be fine ig
Oh
I hope I do
are you doing chem rn?
No next year
ohh ok
no
it won't
What’s your grade in Chem anyway
ap chem is often overrated
I'm not doing chem
right now
I'm in bio
Im taking chem over the summer
Ok
What’s your grade in Biology
99
slay
How
just do the work and pay attention lol
for us, the only grades that go in are tests and lab reports
mines kinda low cause i was sick for a week and missed a bunch of tests
I try but I sometimes never fully grasp
so I have like 10 total grades or something
WOAH LUCKY
hmm
it's not lucky
because homework is easy completion points
so there's no cushion
Wait what’s your grade in math
99
How
u'll see lots of 99s
what math are u doing
alg 2
jeez ur smart hah
Tell me how do I achieve a 99
my extracurricular profile is trash
pay attention in class
what ecs are u taking?
including the mini details
not good
yeah and ask questions
what is it...
I do but the concepts are very hard
spill
sci bowl
And I can’t do it
what do u wanna be?
then study
electrical engineer
try to self learn in a way you can understand
nicee
I study and I still get 94’s, 95’s and 96’s
you should do like hackathons
then you're not studying right
a 94 and a 99 are worth the same gpa
How do I study
I want the max
thats not worth the stress
To me yes
your gpa is gonna be the same
I will do whatever it takes
as someone with 93s
yeah they are
except
I am a tryhard
I spend too much time
i used to be that
the one advantage to that is that I can fail my finals safely
trueeee
Ok
one thing
always pay attention to what ur teacher says about tricks and stuff
Actually
the only time u should review notes
is if they're guided notes
but if they're notes u took by yourself
then no
My teacher doesn’t really give out tricks
no...
so like
i don't have an example
but our teacher in the middle
used to tell us some individual circumstances
where we thought
the answer was something
but it was actually something else
I would jot that down
because teachers love putting those type of questions
yeahhhhh
