fr shocked
ooo cornell
what grade r u in @desert lantern
while being out of state
unc is better imo go tarheels
@clear coral
being like everyone else asian male studying CS
cs is very competitive
i got an offer to play soccer for one of the florida colleges
but my mom made me reject that school
Harvard and MIT are 5 minutes from my house, so it’s atmosphere is so underwhelming as compared to someone who lives out of state
LOL
tf
unc only has like 25% out of state students or smth
they already accepting ppl?
and im hoping to get another offer from UF for a soccer scholarship
scouts
im ngl i act like i dont care abt school but academic validation just hits different
fr
Right !
also id be a first gen student
bc everyone else went and dropped out/dropped out to get married 💀 or never went
depends on the school
im ngl i think legacies usually have an advantage at ivys
unc is very first gen forward tho
My Grandpa was an economics professor at Northeastern for 30 years and my cousin got rejected, this a kid with an above average gpa as well. So for NE Gen has better chances, can’t say the same for Harvard
is NE hard to get into?
oh wow
i have it on my list
but im thinking of going regular decision
when i get rejected from cornell ED
I mean 20% so not Harvard hard. But it’s still selective
What’s that ?
im ngl i know next to nothing abt uf
oo with a gpa like yours that shouldnt be too hard
that could be your safety school or smth
Personally I’d get the hell out of Florida, but u shouldn’t have a problem getting in
LMAO
bro you have beef with florida 💀
i mean 5 days is the next test
Indeed. Disney World and Miami can suck it
also a lot of schools are test optional
I only vibe with Naples
i love Panama city
"optional"
thats what they all say
yeah yeah but like you could just super score
ik better
so just focus hard on your english
Three kids at my school got into Harvard without it sooo….
youve already gotten a stellar math score
are you taking the one on saturday?
No clue. One girl got into Yale without it as well
all in ur school?
Correct. It’s really competitive
im ngl colleges look at involvement in clubs/sports too like things youre doing in the community too
jeez, if i was the principal of ur school, id be happy af that 4 of my students got into ivys
how big is ur school btw
graduating class?
or they couldve just been legacies
200 kids per class so about 900 kids in total
It’s not that big
What?!
900 is a lot wydm
2k in 6-12th grade
Usually at least 6-7 get in per class
damnnn
the smartest person ik
got waitlisted for columbia
she had a 5.1 gpa (4 scale) 1470 sat
I don’t know anyone whose gotten accepted there
Where’d she end up going ?
even UF thought she wouldn't even consider it so rejected her cuz of space
Yielded her
idk dude you can be super smart and do everything right and still not get in
uf thought that she was too good for UF so they rejected her cuz they thought she was applying to UF for lols
and i died when they told her that
oh btw i have the option to do dual enrollment next year should i
It’s so scary that one can be rejected from their safety because their to good but then they have the potential of getting rejected everywhere else
alr alr
fr
FIU is my safety and the AO already offered me a full ride for soccer but my mom's gonna kill me if i do
oml 💀 i totally forgot i have an english lit test tomorrow
That’s my biggest fear. Just being stranded
u got school tmr?
i mean safety is just that a safety and you could always transfer
Why wouldn’t we
yea its monday 💀
i dont?
its some sort of holiday?
huh???
Prob Ron Desantis Appreciation day 😏
nah
damn i see
What Coast of Florida are you ?
idk tho i do this online homeschool thingy
so i usually dont get off days unless its a national holiday
east coast*****
Tampa area ?
no southern
Wait are u near Naples ?!
Lucky BITCHES. Such a beautiful area
💀
idk my directions
how do you get that mixed up
i was basing it off Never eat soggy waffles
O
you live on the east coast anyways so like what would make you think youre on the west side of the florida 💀
Do u live near Boca Raton ? my grandparents have a home there
idk east from west
im 2 hours away
pls say youre kidding rn
South ?
legit not
Boca Raton and Naples the only two places I want to be seen in Florida
omg no bc i get lost easy but i can tell my east from west
miami?
daytona
hollywood
aventura
pembroke
Absolutely not
forgetting my favorite place in florida panama city
panama city is so pretty and the beach is nice
Naples, Boca Raton, Palm Beach, and Marco Island are good. Can’t say the same for the rest
im ngl it seems like a new england thing to shit on the south
dont insult my crazy karen florida cities
Miami Dade is not a vibe. Sorry
Connecticut is one of the 6 states of NE
like the south is a region
ohhh....?
I don’t live in Connecticut. We don’t associate with them
dont tell me you didnt know that
yeah ive gathered that
💀
Girl what
NE i heard cuz of APUSH
no fr im shocked rn
The NE confederation dissipated
city*****
BECAME A CITY
bro
About to lose my shit
dont judge
😭 thats like saying the midwest is a city
i neevr took geography
I’m offended
I HAVENT EITHER
i take it next semester but still
Connecticut is the worst part of NE mind you
my poppa is from CT
Tell him to move
good thing he left bc the north is kinda an L
he did we live in south carolina
GIRL WHAT. the north is the best part of the country. Don’t get me started
YALE IS IN CT
Girl we have standards SORRY
Florida > Northerners
Absolutely not
nah
WE HAVE NYC, BOSTON, the two best cities in the country. Don’t come at us
i thought you changed your pfp to tyler the creator 💀
In fact I’m skipping school to go on a day trip with my friend in a week to NYC
rich behavior tbh
ik nothing abt soccer 💀
all you gotta say is this
repeat after me
hueng min son is better than ronaldo and messi combined
oml is this a cult 💀
oh ew i dont like messi
Same
hes gross
Gross
i feel like youre trying to get me to join a cult 💀
I’m more of a Ryan Gosling fan
flabbergasted i would have never known
Are u being sarcastic I can’t tell
😭 yeah i am
How could u tell smh
a beneficial cult
bc you said it like 10 minutes ago 💀
arent yall asian first of all
Girl when
get some asian empowerment into this
im asian
and i feel asians are underrepresented
I guess having good taste is my vibe😊
sure sure
im ngl i dont know actors
they all look the same 💀
Take that back
white blonde blue eyes
Compare Chris Pine, Ryan Gosling, and Chris Evans, they all have individualistic jawlines and cheekbones
Get with the program !!!
Wrong
omg youre so right i shouldve realized 😔
Thank you for recognizing ur ignorance
Wut
ive never met a nice blonde
No blondes are so nice
LMAO
I’m not blonde I don’t take offense
like ive heard abt it but ive never rlly understood
like is it genetic or just prejudice
bc like in movies hyper femme women were always blonde and dumb
but....lisa....blackpink....hot
and the "quirky" girls were brown haired or smth
Most woman with bright blonde hair aren’t natural. Which many see as them caring more about their appearnce then their knowledge
youre a blink??
uhm the bangs
bro dont they all have bangs
There’s this kid at my school. Is a Ryan gosling replica, and a piece of me dies when I talk to him
shoot your shot tbh
bro
like
i just realized
if gohar comes in this channel and sees this
imma die
LMAO
LOLL
HHAAH
bro how did we even end up here
we started at college and ended up on blondes 💀
Will I die if I do AP physics on top of 3 other ap classes
what are the other three
crap i gotta go, hope someone else can help
You'll probably be okay, depending on what the other ap classes are. It may be a couple hours of homework but you should be alright
apush
stats
lang
💀 absolutely not
What's the best subject to drop if u are not clear abt what ur gonna do in the future out of
Math
Economics
Science(if u pick science along with biology chemistry and physics you have to pick one of these) :
Computer Science
Political Science
Commercial Science
Commercial science is not really suitable!
Rest will be depend on your choice and which best fits your mind.
I am currently taking high school physics honors, with the intent to take AP Physics C next year, however all of the content in our class this year alligns pretty closely with the AP Physics 1 exam. I am not sure if i should register to do it, people going into stem usually dont get credit for AP physics 1 and 2, but would it look good? i also think physics is fun
Yeah it definitely would look good
Just a heads up tho
It has the lowest pass rate
A little more than 50%
So like half
But if you are genuinely enthusiastic about physics go ahead
it depends how busy i am probably, cause im taking other aps too so ill be studying for them
and im taking both physics c exams next year
Do you guys think taking Financial Algebra is worth it for next year?
I would've taken Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, and Accounting by then
we dont get offered that
soo idk what it is
but if ur into finance and business related then take ti
from what I heard it's really easy and really simple, and basically anything uses a calculator
Has anyone here taken AP psychology? How is it, is it interesting, is the course hard, how's the paid exam at the end of the year, and best way to study? Thanks
Do you just want to get into mit or do you want to do what mit is known for?
Because like going into MIT as a creative writing major means that you have a LOT less competition
But they’re not as good at that
I want to get into MIT
Then yeah do like a super niche geology major or something
Understood
Usually you are applying for whole school not for particular major so, they will offer you the place based on your application how much it will be strong. Choosing a major will be depending on your choice which could be best fit for you and in which you can move forward and achieve your goals so, just try to decide properly which major you wanna go for where anyone can't judge you to choose one.
Ok. I would want one major focused in math, sciences and technology. Which major you me recommend ?
Which one is your personal choice?
I choose nothing so far
Try to decide byself which one can be best fit for you and through which you can achieve your future goals, as i can say anyone can't judge you to take this majors to get into MIT and you can still get into MIT by choosing a major on the basis of your own choice if they are offering that particular major.
Thanks man.Where do you see the courses you have to enter Mit?

MIT is officially offering these courses.
Incredible. So, I can make this courses same not standing inside Mit?
??
Could you rephrase it? i didn't catch it, inside MIT?
I can make those courses same not standing inside MIT?
Yes!
Has anyone here taken AP psychology? How is it, is it interesting, is the course hard, how's the paid exam at the end of the year, and best way to study? Thanks
my brother is taking ap psych, he says it’s really interesting and it’s cool learning about the weird experiments they do in the name of science. other than that i don’t have much more knowledge about the course
If I do university non ap math in high school, would I need to retake it in when in college or would the credit transfer?
im doing physics and i was curious to whether or not i should do a programming class or chemistry class?
Why do you need to retake your AP?
Chemistry would be relevant.
programming is also extremely useful in physics and at this point maybe even a core skill
although the knowledge is chemistry is also extremely beneficial
So, where are you best fit?
could you elaborate?
Your personal preference will matter otherwise chemistry is also relevant and good.
i enjoy both and ive gotten recommendations from both departments
i did skip a year of programming because i was told id be absolutely be fine skipping a year and coming back to it
Oh, you should decide based on your own choice like which will be best fit for you.
for university classes that are non- ap such as multivariable calc and linear algebra, I'm asking if I'd need to retake those
No, i don't think so you need to retake it but it depends on school to school i would like to say you are fine!
ok! thanks
I would like to suggest you chemistry and if your best preference is programing then it's also good!
i could do both but that would mean giving up my advanced math class
which i doubt is the best idea
Programming although I'm biased
If you can manage then you can go for it!
Btw, can you manage it?
if i do both that means i cannot do my other math class
but im not going to drop that one im afraid
What grade are you in giz?
I would like to say don't overburden yourself, if you can't manage the both and on the other side other math classes are required to take then i would like to recommend and suggest you to go for that one which is more lenient for you.
Whats a good course to take if you wanna get into photography/media?
Although it is not required to have come from particular background in high school for apply to particular major any major you are free to apply after high school graduation but still, it depends on your high school system which courses they are offering for this kind of major.
i’m a junior in hs and i have 5 ap classes so far including the ones this year
one sophomore year and 4 junior year
i plan to take 5 senior year so i can have 10 total
i tried to get ap lang this year but it didn’t work for my schedule
i feel like colleges wouldn’t like that i wanst in an honors/ap english class my whole hs career
should i take ap lit senior year?
i highkey don’t wanna take it but if colleges will want me to take atleast one ap english class then i’ll take it
If I want to be a teacher what courses should I choose for college apps/the future?
usually they’re included in the same class but sometimes trig is included in precalc
I would say not a big deal if your major has nothing to do with English tbh you're taking a lot of aps already
If you can handle it go ahead
i’m tryna do aerospace engineering
my engkish act is like a 34-35
so i’m chillin ig
idk man
I want to be a Tutor in French Language and English language. Should I do MA English or MEd?
this shit stressful ong
35 is pretty mad good tbh
I think AP Lit gives like 6 College Credits right
6 😳
curious what did you do to get to a 35 eng
Im going to get 6 if I take the class
bro it’s easy trust
just do a ton of practice tests
and go over them thought after
i did 2 a week
im not taking the act ima take the sat but honestly im so mid in english
so 1 section a day spread out though the week
which left 2 break days
and then one day on the weekend i would do a whole act
alright thanks
i’m pretty sure act engkihs and act in general is a lot easier
11th
same
ive been struggling to do my homework tbh with all the stuff happening, legitimately cant find time
nah i feel you
also still in the summer mindset havent caught a rood run in school yet
fax
my grades have dropped significantly from last year although my gpa is up because im taking all advanced
but that means everyone elses goes up too
not to mention im 6.2% and actually need to do better than most people which im not accomplishing lol
ig ye
6% gets you auto admit into uta but with how things going idk
6.2%?
in class
6%??
yeah
ye
honestly i could probably still make it in just applying as long as i get my sat together lmao
MA is enough and you can do PhD after it!
Hi
Hi anyone from India in 11th or 12th grade? A tenth grader here and I need advice on choosing my stream for next year.
Hey! You can write here!
Hey!
Yes:)
Here's my 4 year plan for high school. I wanted feedback. I know the jump from AP's from sophomore yr to junior is a lot, but i won't enroll into every single one i stated.
*My school doesn't offer many honors classes
How’d you get the summer classes?
solid
Thanks bro
My school offers classes to take over the summer to skip that will count towards your high school transcript. Lets say you are in algebra 1, you can skip geo over the summer, and do algebra 2 in 10th grade
Lucky. Which state?
any advice on what to do if your school limits aps/honors courses to be taken?
self-study for an AP exam as best as you can. Take courses in local colleges or online MOOCs.
@cinder gorge Thank you for your response. I am also interested in French Language, What are the career prospects along with English?
Any Undergraduate English Major Student here?
You're Welcome!
Check out this Stanford University blog, it will give you perfect idea about majoring in english like what prospects can be in this field for you.
I hope it will help you!
Is it fine if I take ap physics 1 outside of school and take no other physics in high school. We are allowed to take only one science class per year and I am a sophomore rn in Chem h. I want to take Ap Chem and Ap Bio the next two years but I won’t have any physics, I will be doing it online with UC Scout. Is this fine or will colleges view this negatively?
It won’t appear on my school transcript, I will have to send a separate transcript
Should I take AP lang just to take AP lit? I mean I want to take AP lit just to analyze stuff better but AP lang is terrifying
DM me if you need help. i am a 12th grader, commerce stream.
Is this ok for my sophomore year?
- World lit honors
- Precalc honors(preferably APprecalc if my high school adds it)
- AP Chem
- AP euro
- French 4
- Drivers Ed and PE
- Digital Electronics PLTW
- Lunch
what year are you now?
Freshman
8th period lunch???
i guess you can eat during class like I do lmao
looks good though
very full schedule
I’ll have it either third fourth fifth or sixth
only benefit of 8th period lunch would be you can leave school early but some schools don't even allow that lol
my school has a 6 period schedule lol
Oh
Nooo
Do you guys have early bird or something
we dont have lunch as a period
we have a 0 period
Oh
and we have an 8th period, but 8th period is just for marching band or our womens choir and they don't meet everyday
Ohhh
we don't have a 5th period
like literallly its not on the schedule
its just 1234L67
Lol
In 8th grade, I took a lunch class, and it was listed as period L
01234L67
but yeah
Lunch is the 23 minutes inbetween 4 and 6 because they took 4 minutes of it and moved it to a break inbetween 2 and 3
also LUNCH being off center makes me shake
i dont think colleges really care abt whether you self studied an ap course or not. If you did and got a good score then good you have a good score. If you took the ap class and exam and got good grades in both then great you have good grades and a score.
on the other hand, self studying ap physics 1???
bad idea imo
the exam is known to be the hardest and even those who take the class fail sometimes
im in the class rn and our work is extremely rigorous and we have a lot to cover in a short amt of time
im not discouraging you or anything, but unless if ur a genius kid with plenty of time, i'd stick to taking the class
not self studying it is a course
i get high school course credit for it as well
OH
just wont show on my high school transcript
my bad then
this will answer ur question then
kk thanks
it depends on you and ur time management really
yeah that is why my high school counselor told me as well
but I am pretty sure I have enough time
go for it then
yeah thanks for the info
thank you!
there are no prerequisites for ap lit (may depnd on ur school) but taking ap lang may be a good idea
alr thx
while i'll admit ap lang is not of interest to those who enjoy analyzing (like me and you), the course teaches fundemental writing skills that are useful for college and can be applied to ap lit
good luck!
thanks so much!
wdym
ap seminar and research is useful for your career (unless you want to be a writer) and ap lit/lang is useful for arguably the most useless major
In my school, we have 7 classes each year and we are allowed to take 2 off periods in senior year. I want to go to ut austin, however i am worried that the admissions officers will judge me for taking 2 off periods when I could have been taking a class instead. Do colleges really care if i have 2 off periods?
No, they will not check it and nor they they will consider it. Admission officers will usually look into those subjects which are mentioned on your high school transcripts so, don't stress that out you are fine!
Thank you!! I feel much better, i really appreciate it
I am planning to maybe take harder ap classes senior year so i want to compensate by taking off periods
Yeah, that's better if you can take one otherwise you don't need to stress that out,you are fine!
@cinder gorge Thank for the blog recommendation.
You're welcome! Lemme know for further help!
Hey, Im in middle school taking all high school classes except math, im not sure if i should apply for the highschool class or since its not my best subject, just master the basics
also whats the difference between being in a tag course in 8th grade vs being in a 9th grade course in 8th grade?
If it’s not your best subject, that’s fine. Also, a TAG course is either one grade ahead, or is at an accelerated pace. And in middle school, not every course is tag
It matters on the college, but if UT Austin is a highly selective college, then they would like to see u take every opportunity u can. I mean even if those two periods are easier…
California
My school does something similar? Basically if you take Math 2, but want to go to honors math 3, you can do packets over the summer and take a test on the first day and if you score an 85% or higher you get placed.
ut has automatic admission if you're in the top 6% of a public HS in tx, so if that applies to you all you have to worry about is getting the major you want
I'm planning to go to The University of Chicago, but I'm not sure what classes to take and what I should do to improve my chances. What should I do?
Why do you think your chances are 0?
from what I've seen online from people who got in, try and find one subject and pursue it/get leadership in it
because the acceptance rate is 7.3
that's a great school but not a great bet
Yeah that's why I was asking on how to improve chances, I'm a freshman so I guess it's better to start now then later
I'm choosing between aviation and medicine
if your school has a program in either of those, do that, but that's kind of obvious
does uchicago have aviation? that's not common
I'm not sure but that's my top university I want to go to, northwestern university is a close 2nd
you should definitely Google it, aviation isn't available most places
Yeah that's why i may do medicine
fair enough
not exactly a course selection question but do i choose the courses i want to do or the courses my friends took?
the ones you want to do, if you can’t pick from there, factor in your friends’ decisions
I can pick my desired courses but I'm afraid that might make me distant from my friends
Should I take Calculus I or AP Calculus AB? I'm pretty set on taking Calculus I but... I actually don't know why I'm unsure. Personally, I prefer going in depth in the courses I take rather than taking a course with the main focus being the exam at the end of the year. Because of this, I'm leaning towards doing more dual enrollment courses throughout high school than AP. I'm not planning on majoring in or having a career in STEM (I mean, my plan is to become a lawyer lol), but I really enjoy math. My current math plan for high school is:
Freshman: Calculus I / AP Calculus AB
Sophomore: Calculus II / AP Calculus BC
Junior: Linear Algebra (not entirely sure if Linear Algebra is actually taken in two semesters)
Senior: Calculus III / Multivariable Calculus
Sorry, my question isn't really clear. What I'm wondering is how the content of Calculus I compares to the content in AP Calculus AB. Which would be considered easier and which would be more worth it if my goal isn't exactly to score well on an exam but rather understand what's being taught completely. Also, do you receive credits regardless from taking college courses or is that dependent on the school you're applying to? Any advice on my plan for math would also be highly appreciated!
I understood. Calculus AB and Calculus I are supposed to be the same, but Calc AB will probably be harder. If you plan on receiving your Bachelors from a public, in-state school, you will likely receive credit for the college course. However, some colleges will not accept dual enrollment credit or credit from a college at all. It really depends.
Okay, thank you!
Calc 3 is before Linear Alg and they are both 1 sem each
Oh? Thanks for letting me know! So I can just take Linear Algebra and then Calculus 3 for Junior year.... and... for senior year... AP Statistics..?
I guess that works.
i want to also note that calc 1 and 2 are 1 semester courses, while calc AB and BC are full year courses (BC covers both calc 1 and 2)
Okay! Thanks so much, I have an idea of how to plan it out now.
So, would this be a good plan?
Freshman: AP Calculus AB
Sophomore: Calculus I (first semester), Calculus II (second semester)
Junior: Calculus III (first semester), Linear Algebra (second semester)
Senior: And... maybe AP Statistics?
I mean it’s certainly something that most people won’t do
Calc AB and Calc 1 are the same thing
if you don't have pre-calc, take that freshman
I took pre-calc freshman, its very necessary
I also plan on being a lawyer
you could just take ap calc ab/bc and then calc 3 and go into depth on your own time
i studied ap calc over the summer so i had lots of time to review proofs and dive deeper into the topics
i dont see why it’s necessary to go that far into math curriculum even for a top college. if you wanna do it cause you enjoy math then go ahead :)
like yeah do ap calc bc and ap stats but no need to go into calc III or linear if you dont want to
I'll try that out for this year and then decide if that's what I'll do for the rest of HS. Thanks!
if you “understand what’s being taught completely” then doing well on the exam will happen anyways
If I am trying to get into a good university what math courses should I have finished by the end of my four years (of high school)?
they’re not mutually exclusive
what are you looking to major in
Not sure yet, I'm only a freshman so... I was just kind of curious
there isn’t really a specific list, it depends on what you want to go into and what opportunities you have
Oh, I know I want to go into the field of computer science/engineering though.
oh okay, if you can take ap calculus ab/bc at some point go for it
Yeah I'll be taking that junior yr
*Hopefully
ap statistics is also a useful class
if you have some extra time and you really like math you can take calculus 3 and linear algebra at a nearby college as well
it’s definitely not necessary though
Thanks for the recommendations 👍
they’re the same thing
i’d take ab because college credit
but if you can do bc instead that would be better
Is this like Selectives?
If you can take algebra two,
Pre calc (try to take honors)
(AP) Calc AC
(AP) Calc BC,
Youll have excelled in math and colleges will love it
if i've been studying CS / Software Engineering since I was 12 all throughout high school, and i'm pretty well rounded. if i went to college for software engineering what would I do, do i really have to take the basic courses ALL over again?
can i select courses that are more advanced somehow
if you take AP classes, maybe not
lots of colleges, especially the top ones, like to reteach that stuff to freshman
try to get to at least calculus
you would need to take:
- algebra 1
- geometry
- algebra 2
- precalc
- calculus
if you didn’t take algebra 1 in middle school and are only able to get up to precalc that’s fine too
Alright thanks 👍
(Hypothetically) Could I take both physics and chemistry at the same time my sophomore year?
I mean of course
But that’s a lot of work
I’m in algebra I rn and I’m probably going to take geometry over the summer and that’s something that you could also do too @cinder gorge so you can at least take calc
Or by even taking pre calc over the summer as well you could take one of the two AP Calc’s
That's what I am doing yeah
Yeah I hope that I’ll be able to handle pre calc over the summer 😅.
is this a good list for my next two years of highschool? im also planning on self studying for the spanish ap exam junior year
Yeah this is good
But
I have a question
Or rather, remark
APush and ap us history are the same thing
Also, idk but I think bio and chem are one and a half period long
And u get two credits for each
i just realised sorry i meant ap us gov 😭
really? ty for telling me i didn’t know ^^ !
Yeah
At least for my school
Also
Both courses are really rough
So if you’re like really good, then go ahead take both sciences
But it can be really really hard to manage both
id say im pretty good in science math however not so much
What are the best Aps to take in 10th grade?
idk
@tight wedge ok so im omly a sophomore
but likee
taking ap bio and chem and all other aps
ur senior year
is bad
unless u wanna have like barely to no free time
In my opinion, I'd say these are the best to take as a sophomore (take it with a grain of salt since I'm also a freshman): World History, English Lang, Economics, Calculus, Biology, or Physics. Maybe APUSH would be good as a sophomore?
thank
idk how to fix it cause theres like no room in my schedule in junior year apart from choir 😭
just change the AP Classes
to easier ones
wtf 💀
what school ru in
those are hard asf
Hii so next year I can pick my subjects, and I would really like to pick psychology as a major and become some kind of psychologist. I am from Australia so I don't know if it's different in America or some other countries. I was just wondering what subjects I should pick if I want to persue psychology as a degree
Id say the best APs are euro, psychology, chem(if you’re good), and once they release it, AP precalc
I think ur thinking junior year
Yeah those are good, but for juniors
they're decently similar although your years of schooling will be different
in America typically high schools will offer psychology but if you cant take that I would recommend taking a class like ethics, biology, etc. anything as closely related as posible
o alr
Can anyone suggest to me what should I pick
(Standard Maths/Basic Maths)
???
for what exam?
or course
boards?
M in 9th
take standard then
Architecture engineering, mechanical engineering, game developer/game designer
Ok
Thx
Can U suggest what should I pick in these 4
I would say mechanical engineering
Can anyone suggest to me which stream I pick
ap seminar is fairly easy, im taking ap lang and ap seminar rn.
but tbh ap lang is prob the most homework i have ever had
super rewarding to turn in a good essay tho
Yeah Ik that
But I’m wondering which one is good for learning
Because I also thinking about the pathway in general
Because if I take seminar then I will take research
But lang leads to lit
unfortunately most AP classes are just preparing you for the ap test
but if you havnt taken the SAT yet i would say lang would be helpful for it
but you get the ap capstone award if you do good in seminar and research
Yeah
do both if you can
What's the best STEM course/major to choose if you know want to do something in STEM but can't decide
I'm interested in Engineering, CS, maths and physics
What I'm asking is which one allows you to easily move into a different field, and teaches you the best skills and ways of thinking
Yeah
Based on what you said
Id recommend computer engineering
With that you can use both computer science and electrical engineering
A student teacher at my school studied astrophysics and he said half of it was programming
And math applies to both
Yeah
Physics applies to both concepts
Because to be honest
Electricity and magnetism are very important in physics
Mechanics is good, but not the most useful for a career
It applies
Tho
Yeah sure
I would recommend engineering
To*
I could study physics but do engineering stuff as a hobby
Like with arduino
Yeah that also makes sense
Programming
Yeah that’s what I do
Robotics
Nah that's not why
I'm not an elon worshiper
Try engineering on the sidelines
I respect the man for obvious reasons
And you should be good in STEM
But it's never good to blindly follow someone
Thanks for the advice man
I appreciate it
No problem
i’m not a stem major but i have a lot of friends that study it, the biggest thing for them was choosing what they are most interested in. based off your interests, a course like stem biomed is not for u (as biomed is more doctor/medical based). the best thing to do will be to rule out which courses u dont want to do. but at the end of the day, do what u want to do. the best course for u is the one u have passion for. of course, think and plan for the future, but always keep urself and ur interests at heart - id rather see u happy in a more obscure subject that u love rather than miserable in one u don’t care for - from an art student who has struggled with the same thing you are currently struggling with
i’m not in ap seminar, but to my understanding, ap lang is more nonfiction research based. u will study speeches, newspapers, and other stuff like that. a course like that is if u want to do journalism, be a lawyer, or something in that area
I'm definitely less interested in biology
Chemistry is in between
then rule out the ones you don’t like! for me, a very indecisive person, to rule out what i don’t want makes it easier to narrow down choices yk
Don't get me wrong, it's really interesting, but I prefer more maths and problem solving
That's literally what doing rn
ur on the right track then
definitely, i understand where ur coming from
"I'm definitely less interested in biology"
Yeah it's the same reason I didn't pick it as a subject at school. In Ireland, secondary school biology is a fuck tonne of memorisation
I'd say I'd be good at it
But it's not fun enough
ooo
English Irish maths and a foreign language
The cool thing is that you can pick any three you want
that is rlly cool
I understand that, but I was asking for the general pathway. Cuz if you go ap lang y have to take lit and for seminar it goes to research. So my question was, which path better prepares you for college?
You just might not get them all depending on your luck when they're making the timetables
I chose physics chemistry and applied maths
There are three of us that do those three
ahh i see, my bad for misunderstanding! this im not too sure about, i hope someone else can help you :D
🧠
the way that ur courses r chosen r similar and yet so different to the way my school does them 😭😭
The way you have classes not subjects
Like you've a different teacher for algebra 1 or calculus
I studied in the indian(basically British) school system
We just have a maths subject
Before
Where we do everything
Ik
But I feel like focus is good
So like if each year you do something different that’s better
What do you mean
We have one teacher but we do one chapter at a time
Yeah Ik
Like we were just recapping on junior cycle algebra
We do one chapter at a time
Next we're moving onto more indepth trig
But there is a whole focus on one part of the subject
Hm
In the US could you choose to not take any humanities classes if you wanted to?
Yeah
The US tests are all multiple choice though
No
So much easier
Oh ok
I mean yeah
Bro I had to write a 1000 word essay before school one morning
Oof
In fairness I only did 500 words but the teacher said it wasn't enough
But then I added stuff and made It 1100 words
Well to be fair writing more is not always hard
Until high school our schools also have subjects
But here high school is a lot like college
I mean we even use titles
Like freshman sophomore etc
Like college
Damn
The system also works like that
Pretty unnecessary
In high school you are allowed to choose everything
I disagree
I know in India they do
And in England too
All right
In college they do
Oh maybe in England then
I highly doubt that man
But yeah in our high school we get to choose
But we have some requirements
That are necessary
I was talking about england
Like we have to take a Us history
No I meant that maybe in England you guys don’t have those college titles
And we have to do us gov
And we have to do 4 years of English
How could you say something like that. I'm Irish
And we have to do at least geometry and algebra
🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
Oh sry lol
Sorry
You might be forgiven one day
Repost but will these courses help me get into a good university in california (computer science field) like UC Berkely or Irvine?
These are the subjects that I can pick next year and idk which ones to pick, can someone recommend some?
in the maths section it's essential, general, maths methods and specialist (essential being the easiest and specialist being the hardest)
well i kind of like maths and stuff
but I really want to be a psychologist
so idk
Tbh
Aslong as u take eng a humanities math and science u can pickwhever else u want
oh ok!
sadly I can only pick 6 subject
s
so it's kind of annoying
cause everyday is 4 periods
Yea same my school is 6 or 7
ohh ok
Imo its more than enough
true
Hi… What’s a good course for a STEM student who’s into art and music? I want to take a course that has both science and music/art at the same time and until now I’m left undecided.
I mean there’s a lot of math majors that also major in music (usually theory or composition focused)
I want to take smth within the lines of “music theory” but I don’t think I can get accepted with that course because I’m a STEM student
Music theory is so fun and then counterpoint happens and then it’s hell
I mean do you do music?
If so then you’re fine
I have perfect pitch in music-
Like for example when there’s a song playing, I know what notes and major scale to use
WHAAAAAT
😭
SO JEALOUS OML
my only skill is that I can recognize a key by glancing at the music
Which is something that isn’t too hard after training
YOUR SCHOOL HAS SO MANY OPTIONS LUCKY
my school limited so many classes i could take based on grade level
AP : 98%
Other : 2%
as long as it is the maximum rigor your school provides.. yeah
It's just math that I think some ppl or above me on, but I can still get ahead cuz my high school is VERYYYYY COMPETITIVE.
is it like a magnet school?
What's that?
basically a school where top colleges get a bunch of kids
think Horace Mann or Harvard West Lake
I honestly don't know
do you know if a lot of kids at your school go to top colleges?
ok so then likely a magnet/feeder school
Oh ok
um i think as long as youre close to the top, thatll stand out
Yeah
